There was not a thing wrong with my headset I love it I’m not really a fan of wireless headsets so I got me this wired headset. The color and quality is very nice I recommend this headset for anyone. One thing I like most about it is that the mic retracts back into the headset so it’s convenient if you’re not even using your mic. You can mute your mic with just a switch.
i think i bought these in 2021 and they’re still holding up. the quality is good and there’s nothing wrong with the volume. the ear cups are a bit dirty so i cleaned them with alcohol wipes.
I’ve had this headset for over a month. I’ve seen mixed reviews of people saying it doesn’t work or it stopped working over time but it’s been perfect so far for me. Everyone can hear me just fine and I can hear them as well.
I needed a pair of headphones for work that would be big enough to cover my ears and my hearing aids. I also need a a mic and a column button. These are perfect. Everyone can here me perfectly and I can hear them. The earphone cover my entire ear, including my hearing aid and doesn’t rub against them or cause feedback. I love how the mic stores inside the headset making them perfect for curious cats that like to chew on mics.

These are probably the most comfortable pair of headphones I’ve ever used. My only gripe is they only come in the old 3.5mm jacks, I really would have preferred a USB port. For the price I paid for these headphones and their comfort, I’m super happy.
My husband prefers this over TURTLE BEACH headsets if that says anything. And I will admit the noise cancellation is no doubt a winner, because I can scream bloody murder about dinner or dishes he didn’t help with and he cannot hear anything. I wouldn’t say the volume is “so loud” because it can definitely be improved, but that might be a good thing so that they don’t blow their ear drums out. For this price you cannot beat it though!

I am quite happy with this headset.it is quite comfortable. The noise canceling is mmm ok. The sound quality it decent, it doesn’t blow me away but it isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination. I use it with ps5 I am fairly certain if I was using it with pc it would sound better. People say that I sound good on the other end of the mic. Which is great bc I don’t want to be that girl with the pos mic annoying cod lobbies one lobby at a time.

Para exprimir 100% el sonido es necesario instalar el SW que viene incluido en los audfonos (licencia).
Respecto al sonido es bueno a secas, muy de la talla de Razer sin llegar a ser excelente.
Para videojuegos son buenos en un Switch o X-box, los cuales sin mayor complicacin detectan el micrfono y funcionan adecuadamente.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way these are a great pair of headphones whether that be for (gaming, voice chat, or ordinary Music listening. The audio is nice and balanced, you can hear highs which are very pronounced considering the frequency range of these headphones which is as stated 15hz – 28khz the mids are pronounced as well as the low end but don’t expect a bunch of bass unless you’re using a external amp or DAC, (it really depends on your gear Phone, PC and gear you’re using to power this headphones)
as far as the 7.1 Surround sound that’s advertised, I cannot comment on that feature since I don’t use it, the cool gel infused ear cups do actually work and keeps your ears cool without too much sweat
Other than that, a great pair of gaming headphones for the price while being budget friendly and great audio quality and perfect for any beginner gamer.
Also lastly I want to talk about that Frequency range which is that 15hz – 28Khz we spoke about earlier, you can her that low end but it depends on the type of music you’re listening to that focus on bass such as Dubstep/Trap/Rap etc. and if you want to Enjoy these headphones with their 50mm drivers I’d suggest using a good quality AMP/DAC to really push these as well as to use a Type C to Female 3.5mm aux cable which you’ll get much better performance out of these pair of cans.

These are great. Sound is so good that you would think that when speaking with someone online it sounds like they are sitting beside you.
Ive been using this headset for a while for xbox and pc. It works great with both, the sound quality is great and the mic sounds wonderful.
I can wear these with glasses for several hours gaming and they don’t cause discomfort. Love that the mic can be out or stored away. Sound quality is pretty good. Biggest factor for me was comfort as my last head set would give me headaches if worn for over an hour.
The sound was very unbalanced and I could only hear out of one ear, I contacted razer customer support and they quickly send me another one in only 2 days, my new one works great!. 🙂
The headphones give great audio and include a noise surround sound to be used with games and movies. It’s nice to wear without the sweat on my head. The only thing is my head personally is a little small so it’s a bit big for smaller heads.

After owning this headset for two years I decided to come back and check on its reviews to compare it with other headsets I’ve been looking at; after having it for this long I’ve been considering upgrading to something higher-end. That being said you get exactly what you pay for with this headset. The sound quality certainly isn’t on par with anything such as Bose but it’s heaps better than some shitty 40-dollar headset. The mic is clear however, I would suggest purchasing something to help with suppression. I’ve noticed that nearly every one-star review is complaining the headset broke within just a couple of months. I take great care of my headsets and this thing has lasted me this long with zero problems.
TLDR; Sound quality and mic are on par with price, it’s lasted me two years with zero issues.
Headset is very nice quality, honestly the best headset I think I’ve ever had! The mic quality is very good and I’ve had no complaints. The noise cancellation is amazing whenever my cat meows or dogs bark no one can hear. You can definitely feel the cooling on the inside of the headset whenever you put it on. I love the color and love how the cord matches!
Got it for my fianc to game with me. Sound suppression isn’t perfect of course with still a bit of sound being heard around her. I can talk to her and depending on how loud she has the volume I can’t be heard (without it being an unreasonably high volume because duh). I actually bought these for the noise cancellation aspect with both the mic and headphones as my household can be pretty rowdy. They work great for both and my friends say they can hear me so much clearer now.
The only issue I have is that if my plug turns a bit, my mic becomes inoperable and I have to do the unplug/plug trick. That may honestly be my laptop and not the headphones though. /shrug
Got these for my daughter for her birthday for her gaming and she loves them. Very good quality.
The sound quality is great (I can’t testify on the mic as I haven’t used it). Sometimes the left ear stops working and I have to fiddle with the sound control found on the wire to fix it. I may have broke it when I dropped them. I was apprehensive to buy these because of the negative reviews but I love them and would buy another pair if they were to become unusable.
Todo bien con ellos, son cmodos y se escucha bien. Pero tiene das un eco muy molesto al hablar en consola y se nota ms cuando alguien ms usa Razer Kraken, porque se escuchan los 2 ecos juntos. Adems hice una comparacin de sonido con unos HyperX Cloud Stinger en un PS5 y se escuchan mejor los HyperX. Decepcin al menos en play 5.

Me gustaron mucho, la calidad del audio es muy buena, el micrfono sin duda no es esepcion no captura sonidos externos al igual que los audifonos bloquean sonidos externos, el diseo es muy bonito eso y sin contar con lo cmodo que es y con el adaptador de audio que tiene para jugar con mando ya no tienes miedo a que se te vaya a caer y se descomponga a la entrada o se le haga algn falso es muy cmodo ahora jugar con mi mando ya no me estorbe el auxiliar de los audfonos, me quedo algo grande pero supongo que es por qu tengo la cabeza muy pequea jajaja pero es un producto que sin duda volvera a comprarlo y recomiendo si ests en busca de unos buenos audfonos con buena calidad de audio y micro si es que haces streams y si no de igual forma.

This was bought to replace an Astro A10 headset that had absolutely seen better days. The sound quality of this one isnt nearly as good and razer’s surround sound program took some major tweaks to get working right, but it is very comfortable and the mic from what I can tell works great! It’s comfy enough for all day gaming sessions and being able to retract the mic is actually really nice. The only other complaint I’d have is that it seems to not get quite as loud as my old headset but that’s a really minor issue. Overall I’m satisfied!
El sonido es muy bueno, aunque el volumen este solo a la mitad, cancela todo el ruido exterior. El microfono tambien es bueno y he notado que si cancela algo de ruido pero no a la perfeccion. Son muuuy comodos, yo normalmente los uso para trabajar por 8hrs al dia entre semana y nunca me duelen las orejas ni la cabeza ya que las almohadillas cubren bastante las orejas y los audifonos pesan muy poco. El gel realmente enfria bastante y puedo usar lentes con estos audifonos sin molestias. El color no es igual a como aparece en fotos ya que son un poco mas palidos en persona, para mi es un rosa perfecto. Me gusta que el cable este protegido por tela y que el microfono sea retractil y bastante flexible. Estoy muy satisfecha con la compra y los recomiendo ampliamente.

I absolutely love the pink quartz colour of it mixed with grey, although I’d have preferred if it were white and pink instead of grey, I really love that it fits my ears perfectly and my Sades gaming headset Angel edition didn’t do that, they were too big and would slip off my ears. I would say the cords are really long, longer than average, but I guess that would work out for big setups unlike my laptop setup. I also wanted to mute my mic from the mic itself but you have to toggle it from the button on the cord, which is whatever. All in all, I’m happy with my purchase but there are just small bits that could make this headset better. I’d be buying kitty ears when I get the money for it <3

Bought these for my partner who uses these for long hours of archiving medical records.
I have always enjoyed the quality Razer strives to achieve so I purchase their products often over other competitors since I find the higher price does justify their higher standards of excellence.
Likes:
– Audio quality is superb, when listening to piano you can hear the ambiance of the room they recorded in or their fingers tapping the key. It was quite unnerving and surprising, so the frequency range is next to perfect.
– The bass is just wicked, if you want to destroy your eardrums or rattle your brain by all means it has the power. I have the first iteration of the Kraken (2014) and the drivers are twice as large. So massive by anyone’s standards.
– Comfort is quite enjoyable as the ear cups are shaped more like an egg than a full circle so it’s definitely quite comfortable and cool.
-Presentation while opening the package and straight forward instructions are great for anyone unfamiliar with headphones.
Dislikes:
-My Kraken had a button on the mic to mute itself on the fly which this model does not include.
-Unless you reuse the box it came in for transportation, portability will be quite an issue so please save the box if you ever require to bring it elsewhere.
– Short warranty (1-2 years) which makes me err on the side of caution since usually that means the company knows and expects the product to last only that long. However I cannot factually declare this without having owned this for 2 years to see if it encounters some technical failure. This review will be updated and changed to 2 or 3 stars if so.
Pros: I think they’re comfy, I had the Corsair void pro for like 3 years and I can say these Razer ones are definitely more comfy. Something I like about the headphones is it has like a hidden gap in the ear cushions for glasses, so they’re not digging into the side of your head. The Razer surround sound software it comes with is really cool, I had to get used to gaming with it bc I haven’t ever been like that immersed in sound when playing games LOL! But I think it sounds great. Also comes with a splitter for mic and headphones if you’re gaming on PC. The mic initially seemed broken?? But I assume it was just my PC headphone jack bc it worked with my mobile device just fine
The fact that it’s retractable and really flexible is also a plus!
Cons: as mentioned, The headphones come with a code to activate a Razer software to improve the sound quality and it definitely helps, so I assume using this for mobile wouldn’t sound as good but it’s still alright!

I bought these headphones in a bundle with attachable cat ears. Not only is this the most adorable headset that I’ve ever had, it’s also the highest sound quality that I’ve experienced from a headset in my 6+ years of gaming. I usually buy Turtlebeach, but since I was building a PC and wanted to go with a pink aesthetic for my setup, I decided to get these since I had heard good things on Reddit. I do not regret my decision! I use this headset for gaming on both Xbox and PC, and also for watching shows and listening to music. This headset goes beyond Plus Ultra against everything I use it for! The versatility that it has is also amazing, you can use it as a regular headphone jack (for playing Xbox, Switch, or even in your phone) or connect it to a separate adapter to use with a PC. The audio is always crisp and clean, bass sounds perfect, and cinematic moments in both video and games are even more cinematic because of the depth that this headset can convey.
The mic quality is also a huge upside of this headset. When gaming with friends in the past I had experienced my mic echoing and just generally being garbage, but I have gotten no complaints about this headset! The mic also can tuck back into the headset so that it’s out of the way when I’m not being social.
Overall this headset is a 10/10 for me. It’s definitely worth the money, and I think the price is very reasonable.
I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research before making this purchase. I knew what I was going to get for the most part.
I wanted a pink headset to match the aesthetic I am setting up. This was purchased on prime day and I had a gift card so I didn’t spend much on the headset making the purchase “worth it” to me. Had I spent the $80 on this headset I may have returned it.
The audio isn’t the worst but I was also using Sony earbuds prior to this headset which are I believe the same price. The buds are miles and miles better in respect to audio quality.
That being said for my personal casual gaming this headset works. I do not use the mic nor have I tested it as I use an external mic for streaming and virtual calls.
Long story short if you can get this headset on sale and you’re looking for the color, go for it but don’t expect top of the line performance.

I use my headset mainly for gaming and for music, and it is very nice for both! It really is an upgrade from my old headphones.
The microphone is of good quality and I don’t have any real complaints about it, though don’t expect super clear quality as it is still a headset microphone.
This also comes with a splitter, which is very useful for my desktop, which has split jacks! Both the microphone and headset still work without a stitch with the splitter as well.
Pros:
– Great fit
– Great sound quality. Coming from someone whose bar is probably low due to lack of experience, but these sound great to me.
– No headache. I wear these during work and then after work to play games so sometimes like 10 hours a day and they don’t bother me at all. Very cushioned and not too tight.
– Mic works on zoom. Some mics on earbuds I bought don’t work on zoom calls at all which sucks for work.
– Mic works extended and retracted. I don’t pull out the mic for zoom calls with the video on at work because it looks ridiculous. The mic still seems to work just as well when retracted.
Cons:
– The bottom of the ear cups sits right on the ear lobe so eventually my earrings started to hurt me.
– Noise cancelling-wise, it’s ok. I can definitely hear the vacuum, tv, etc through it but it is muffled. I take them off to have a conversation. I didn’t expect them to be great at this though.
– I wish the cord detached in case I needed to replace it. That’s the first thing that went on my old non-razer headphones.
– The mute button works only some of the time. It’s probably because of the apps I’m trying to use it on, but I so far have only found it to work on zoom.
They are comfortable and light – especially good for those who wear glasses. Negatives include occasional bad feedback noise and cable gets twisted a lot. Overall excellent and worth the investment!

El audfono se acomoda para adolescentes y adultos de una forma muy cmoda; son audfonos Circumaurales, quiere decir que rodea la oreja y la almohadilla descansa en la cabeza. Tiene cancelacin de ruido y no escuchas absolutamente nada, bueno para msica y videojuegos (que se escucha extremadamente bien). Su diadema tiene almohadilla sobre la cabeza y se siente a gusto. El micrfono se esconde en el audfono izquierdo y puede recorrerse para acomodarse cerca de la boca. El cable est recubierto por un tipo de tela y no de plstico, esto hace que no se enrede como los cables comunes. Tambin tiene un ajustador de volumen en el cable.
Lo recomiendo mucho, su precio lo vale.

I have a daughter that likes to play video games on her computer. She likes “girly” things and colors. The common black color scheme of most devices frustrates her.
She was very happy when she received these as a gift for her birthday. She was happy they matched the color of her room.
I have not used her headphones, but she claims they sound great and the microphone works when she chats with her online friends. I know she has worn these for multiple-hour play sessions, so I am assuming these must be comfortable to wear.
She is using these on a PC running Windows 10. I know she plays a lot of The Sims, Roblox and Stardew Valley. I’ve not had any technical support issues – plug these in and they work. Nice.
Next on her list: pink mouse and pink keyboard. I believe Razer makes models of these. I applaud them for support “girl gamers”. (Not that pink is exclusive to girls – I just know my daughter has different tastes than a lot of guys that play video games. I’m sure she is not alone)
This one is nice, but it has it’s fair share of problems. First of all, it’s big, it does not fit around the ears and which doesn’t make it soundproof, maybe it’s my small head or maybe it’s the cushions that are too smalls, who knows. The cable get tangled and twisted and is WAY too long for it’s purpose. Then, the headband hurts after a little while and gives you a deathly headache if you don’t take a break of it. BUT, the mic is a nice quality, not good enough for the price, but good overall. The sound is nice too, not perfect. It’s pink and fits with all the other Quartz components from Razer. As for the cute little cat ears, they don’t come with it. It’s like 40$ more for the non-RGB flimsy ears. IF you consider this headset, I would propose to you to get the slightly more expensive Kitty Kraken or even another Pink headset from somewhere else with a peripheral mic. If you really want it, then go for it! I’m not unhappy just a bit disapointed
Purchased the headset the 27, received it today Dec 4. Was super excited, everything looked beautiful and couldn’t wait to try it. Followed all the directions to get it set up and registered, realized that I couldn’t hear anything due to the connector that brings it to a split didn’t function as intended. When I held the piece at the tip, I was able to hear through the headset, but when I went to plug it in completely it didn’t work at all. I tried many different methods in fixing this to no avail. The headset is useless to me if I can’t use it.
**Update** 1/20/21
Since then I have ordered another splitting cable which seems to have done the trick. Sound quality is great and the headset is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I have rerated the 3/5 to 4/5 due to now being able to use it but docked the 5th star because of the hassle to get it working.
I did get them on sale and I honestly don’t know if the difference it’s worth their full price. They’re pretty great, the mic is a lot better than the one on my old headphones but the sound is about the same, they don’t leave you sweaty since the foam isn’t fully covered in faux leather, but they’re just too damn wide. I don’t know if I am the problem but you think that at least the Quartz one would be a little tighter since is targeted for a female audience, but they’re not, they shuffle with every little movement and since they’re loose I don’t get the sound blocking I would otherwise. they’re pretty nice but I would definitely regret if I had gotten them at full price.
I will never use another pair of headphones in my life haha, I absolutely love this brand and am currently trying to collect all their quartz products. These headphones are comfortable, noise cancelling, and very crisp and clean. I use them for streaming an I can hear much more than I was able to with my old headset.
I love the Headset never be hesitant to purchase the thing!! Super cute, and the mic is pretty good id say, probably better than the other microphones out there! The voice canceling is easy no problems what so ever. And other than that very comfortable for any size of head and you can wear glasses without it having an effect on ur ears.
My daughter said they needed to be broken in to fit properly, but once broken in they were good and comfortable. Her last Razer Kraken headset fit perfectly from the first time she wore them.
(this was actually replacement headset, as the first set we received seemed almost like they had been stretched out and would not sit right at all). After having to exchange for a new headset these are still her favorite gaming headset to buy. She recommends them to everyone.
i’ve only had the headset for a couple of weeks now but i’m in love honestly! it’s so much better than the turtle beach i had before this one. the sound is so crisp and clear, doesn’t cut out whatsoever. when i’m chatting with people via game or party chat it works just as great! everyone can hear me perfectly, no break in the mic or in the ear piece. i love the feature for the mic that i can push it back inside when not in use.. and the pink is just gorgeous anyway. awesome headset!! recommend a million times ove

Me comento que ha estado jugando con ellos y no le cansa usarlos durante las horas de juego, son cmodos y ligeros. En particular ella los ocupa para jugar en PC. No son pesados como otros audifonos que a la hora de usarlos ya te cansan. Puede escuchar nitidamente y el micrfono tambin funciona bien.
El empaque vena en buen estado .
Las almohadillas rodean a la perfeccin las orejas, no se sobreponen a stas y tal como se anuncia no se sobrecalientan, perfecto para usarlos por largas horas (lo he usado tanto para jugar como para escuchar msica). El cable de conexin es lo suficientemente largo como para dar movilidad y no pesan. El control de volumen es muy oportuno en ocasiones, al igual que el botn de prendido/apagado del micrfono.
Lo mejor de todo su micrfono retrctil, que es ms discreto y cmodo que otros headsets.
La nica desventaja es que no es totalmente a prueba de sonido y a mi gusto son un poco voluminosos pero solo es mi opinin.
As it suggests, it is very big, so if you dont like big headsets, this isnt for you! However, this is not heavy, as it is mostly plastic in construction. The earpads are a GODSEND!!!! I cannot emphasize this part enough. I feel like these earpads are not given enough credit. The cooling gels actually gives that nice cooling feeling when you put them on, and its a great feeling every single time.
The fit is great and it even fits my gigantic head, so dont worry about the fit. This headset is also over the ear, so your ear will be fully engulfed inside, but dont worry, your ears wont touch the speakers inside the ear. Ironically, even though the headset is over the ear, the noise cancellation is poor. It may be because of the cooling gel or their materials used. The clamping force (how hard the headset clamps on your head) is also not that high, so no need to worry about your head feeling uncomfortable from being pressed.
The mic is also a place worthy of praise. For its price, the mic is very good. And I love the fact that the mic can retract. Solid mic for gaming.
Razer is naturally heavy on base, and the same is here for sound. Base will have a heavier presence but overall the sound is pretty good. Not amazing, but good.
Overall, the headset is a solid purchase.
I just got these and they sound great! Not the best, but still great. The surround sound option definitely boosts the quality. Comfort is very important to me when wearing headphones bc I am a baby and will cry at any discomfort. I would say these are comfortable ENOUGH. my head is not big, but the clamp force is a bit more than I would like (maybe not for a regular person who is not a baby though). I can wear these for about 3 hours before my neck hurts, which is more than I could have bargained for. I use the mic for talking to friends on discord and according to them it sounds fine with discord’s built-in noise cancellation software. For the raw performance of the mic, it does pick up static so the mic does need to be modded with some kind of software if you dont want that. I love the pink color but the earcups look HUGE on my head? like? it kinda looks stupid like I have 2 pink bowls on my ears but im happy the earcups are big enough to accommodate my larger-than-average ears.
Oh and the mute button doesn’t work? lol idk what that’s about.

The headphones themselves are good quality, however quite bulky. The cord is pretty short, and the cord extension is very long, which is beneficial, however can be irritating if your computer isn’t 76 feet away from you and you get a bundle of cords wacking into you every movement you make.
Sound quality is good, not a ton of bass to them however they do produce a clear sound. The headphones themselves are comfortable. Not a horrible product.

– Came with a very long cable, good as I use a 10m extension cable that I was able to put away
– Headphones are very nice, better than a lot of reviews indicate (I guess they’ve never had good headphones). They’re 17Hz-28KHz and have excellent sound isolation. Couldn’t find a THD rating, but they are a headset first, you won’t be missing any frequencies.
– Mic isn’t that great (Just a 10Hz – 10KHz) but it’s been setup nicely. As long as you’re connecting it to a properly configured source it’ll get the job done, able to deliver more than enough power. I had to take a point off as Somic provides a solid 10Hz – 15KHz mic at a lower price-point. It would have been nice to have something other than the same crappy mic every other headset provides ;p.
– Mine came with 2 stickers matching the colour of the headset. I expected them to be green, so that was a nice touch.
Wasn’t able to test the 7.1 surround (only 5.1), because I doubt my DAC even supports it. I did note it as strange that you need to download software using a code to enable it on Windows. My tests were on Linux Mint 19.3.
Overall 7/10. A decent headset if you want something that works and don’t want to break the bank on a Sennheiser just yet. It won’t perform miracles, and it’s a tiny bit expensive, but it’s a solid 7/10 headset, and you won’t be wasting your money on this, if you take care of it. I’m very happy with mine, it’s exactly what I expected to get after plenty of research :).
Other thoughts (some of this is tackling misinformation on other reviews):
– Comfortable (low clamping force on my XXL head)
– Mic doesn’t pickup the audio from the headphones when properly configured
– Speakers are definitely high quality, but it does hook directly into your motherboard, so some of that configuration is up to you. If you don’t like this or can’t do it, get a USB headset
– Build quality is high, comes with a slip explaining how to replace the cups on the headset, but it is only a $130 headset. If you want something stellar for sound and build quality, try looking in the $210+ range
– 3 points (of 10) were removed for: Microphone quality, lack of THD rating, and several other small QoL issues (specs not published online but are on the box, mic doesn’t auto-mute when retracted, volume adjustment knob is ambiguous at a glance, not a lot of features setting the headset apart from the competition [lights, wireless, noise filters])
I plan on giving updates on how well these hold up. My husband swears by this brand and has owned many products with the Razer brand name. He currently has two other Kracken headsets, one in green and one in black. The first he’s had for 5+ years and the second for 2+ years. I was hesitant to buy my own because without fail, the material that covers the foam pulls back after time (I would say 1-1.5 years after owning) and makes it look horrible! For me, I would like longer use out of my tech than just one year. For the older headset, his mic has given up the ghost. The most expensive headset I’ve had is $15 and it’s held up great over the +5 years I’ve had them but I’ve gotten more into gaming and wanted something with a better mic and sound quality. In those two aspects, Razer headsets are great! Especially for those who haven’t owned quality headsets before, the change is incredible. Upon first observation, the headphones I got (pink) seem to be a much better quality than the ones my husband has. I’m assuming they are trying to fix the exposed foam issue because my pair have a different material covering the foam that comes into contact with your ears. It seems much more durable. I plan on giving updates to see how well they hold up in comparison to my husbands older pairs. I really hope I can get at least 3 years of use without them getting ratty and worn. I expect more from Razer. They do come with a 2 year manufacture warrenty. I’ve registered them with Razer online but I’m not too sure what that warrenty covers. We will have to see!
My thoughts on the Kraken: Is it worth the hype?
I can confirm that this headset DOES live up to the hype and it’s not just a brand that ships out crappy equipment for high prices. I can’t say the same for some of their other headsets, which have terrible reviews. However, this headset is comfy and functional. Especially Amazon sells it for less than their MSRP, it’s a steal.
Pros:
-Their earmuff cooling technology actual feels legit…
-The top of the headset doesn’t crack your skull
-The mic is retractable, which I LOVE
-The packaging gives a great first impression
-Includes an extension cable with dedicated mic and audio jack, a nice touch for large desks like mine
-Can wear easily for hours on end
Cons:
-The lower volume range with the volume dial, located on the audio cable, absoluley sucks. Not sure if this is just my unit, but as you use the integrated volume dial to go from high to low volume, you’ll notice the balance between left and right just randomly shifts. This is surely annoying while gaming to adjust the volume. If you have this issue, I suggest turning the volume all the way to high, then use your keyboard to adjust the volume on the OS side, rather than the hardware side
-The mic is a little finicky with MacOS on my Hackintosh, not sure why but I’ll keep working with it.
-The ears are a little bigger than I imagined, but I feel like this may end up saving my ears throughout its life.
-I wish the cable came with an integrated voice-chat/game volume balance feature, similar to Turtle Beach on Xbox. I understand the tournament edition includes this, but not sure if that is worth the $40 premium. A redesign of that stupid USB unit with the tournament edition would make this headset the best, hands down, headset on the market for $60-100.
Summary:
Both pros and cons considered–I love this headset. Of course, it has some flaws, like all things in technology do. Over the next few generations of this headset, I’m sure Razer will introduce some killer features to dominate the gaming market. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a headset that’s comfortable, functional, stylish, and inexpensive. With the features included in this headset, there’s nothing better out there that $60-70 can buy.
So I was very worried when I bought this that I would jsut be paying a pink price tag or for the Razer name… But I couldn’t be happier.
The headset is super comfortable- even when I’m wearing a beanie (I usually can’t with other headsets) and the gel pads which I found weird at first are actually really nice feeling- once you get used to them. The band is easy to adjust and the ears aren’t too small or anything- it feels really nice.
The audio is fantastic- its honestly the best headset I’ve ever owned (I come from Turtle beach so nothing super fancy but decent). Really clear sound- easy to hear everything and where its coming from.
The mic appears to be good quality- I only use it for casual gaming as I have a Blue Yeti Nano for streaming- but those I play with have said it sounds great.
I use it on both PC and Xbox and its been fantastic. It looks amazing on- which is great as a streamer. And the cord is nice and long so I can lean back in my chair while using it.
My only complaint is that the sound control and mute nob on the cord has the sound control wheel on both sides- which means when you try to adjust sound without looking its random which side you get so you have to try both up and down to figure out which way you want to go. But that’s honestly pretty minor.
All around I’d absolutely recommend this headset.
The length of the cord is also a plus. It says it’s about 5 feet, but it feels much longer and has a piece that disconnects for usb adapter, volume control, and is covered in tough nylon. The only downside for that is the volume control meshes with the audio output, and will sometime cut sound from one ear or the other.
I haven’t had a chance to check the audio of my recordings, so I cannot vouch for the mic itself yet, but my friends have no problem hearing me. I do really appreciate that it is retractable and flexible. I’ll give an update when I look into my recordings for that.
Overall, awesome headset for the price. I paid more to get a pink one and I’m even not mad about it.
