Have two, arrived at Barcelona and one suitcase arrived on the carousel quickly. The other took 40 minutes but, I was not worried as I could see it was nearby. I won’t travel without them.
After losing a case for 3 months before finally turning up, I decided to try this out. Easy to set up. Easy to track your case. Has worked well so far. Flown from Dublin to Naples on its first outing and was able to track the case every time I checked to see where it was. Hopefully it keeps on doing its work, but so far it’s been great!
Just bought for Christmas gift hopefully they will be pleased as they had requested this item
Got it so my 7 yr old grandson could go out and play as we live in an apartment block , I no where he is and if he goes to fa
Could be abit more accurate but relatively good. Wish they had a smaller version but this size is manageable.
Pleased that I knew where my luggage was whilst away
Bought for a long haul flight with two connecting flights. Was able to track bags at all times
I have three Smart Tag Plus devices. Two are absolutely fine. The third ran the battery down in about a day. This has now been replaced and its replacement is fine too. If you get a faulty one that drains the battery get it swapped.
The tags themselves work really well in your suitcases. Nice to know where your cases are in the airport and that they have caught the same flight as you! Also useful to find uour way back to the hotel once you are on holiday. Well worth the expense.
Using it to test as a bike tracker. So far so good
A great product. The accuracy is excellent, especially the way it uses nearby samsung devices to update itself if it goes out of range.
Neat size and easy to set up. The “UK” version works fine in Ireland
I recently had my motorcycle stolen and bought this as a kind of peace of mind along with other security devices,
Safe to say it tracks well enough for me
Had one in my rucksack and one in the car. Both work great. Even tested when someone else is borrowing my car and it could be used as a theft tracker if hidden well.
This little tracker helped me to locate my lost luggage in Germany. I was an hour away from it but could see its precise location which helped me to show airport staff where it was. Without it I would have lost everything! I can’t praise it enough. I bought 3 more for the rest of my family.
These are great, i was sceptical at first. They use other Samsung devices nearby to keep you informed of location. Kept my bags close by even when you are halfway around the world.
We not only got snart tags but cases as well
Once we got the hang of it nd used the smart things app this works so well. I have it on the car keys of my dad who suffers dementia so I can keep an eye on him in case of emergency
Very good for Samsung users, very good for excat location highly recommended
Does exactly what I expected. Simple set up and tests I’ve done for finding it have been 100% successful.
Takes a while to update to where it is if not with you.
You really have to do a lot of work ensuring that they are compatible with your particular phone. I found it quite difficult to find the information needed to ensure this. Once I had them, they connected to my phone straight away and were very easy to setup. Distance for finding them is typical of bluetooth, fine in a line of sight, but does reduce dramatically once walls and metal objects are in the way.
We bought these for our parents to help find their lost key’s. They work well for this purpose.
I was a little sceptical about buying these items – oh how wrong could I be ?!?
Having already lost one suitcase 3 weeks ago on our arrival in Dublin, and having never been able to trace our luggage again, I bought these 2 little pieces of brilliance for the long and convoluted trip back – birmingham/franfurt/addis ababa/mombasa – we arrived at the airport to total chaos. the power had failed to the baggage conveyors and luggage was piling up around the check in desks as athletes returning from the commonwealth games tried to get themselves and their equipment home.
I had already paired the tags (very, very easily, as i am an admitted tech-dinosaur) and the tags were in my cases.
At every stage of our trip I could see where my lugagge was (sadly most of the time not in the same country) but it gave me massive comfort to know exactly where the two cases were. we eventually arrived home with only 1 case, the other having remained in Frankfurt.
the tags made me feel much more secure that I knew where my luggage was. They are easy to pair and the software is easy enough for this tech-dino to cope with.
now they are home I have attached them to my keys and i will NEVER travel without them again.
Using this smart tag to find items for my mother who has dementia and is putting things away and then stating that she has lost item or somebody has taken things.
Bought this to attach to my car keys just in case i lost them. Set up was very easy using Samsung Smart Things App and it gave good and easy to use instructions on how to get started. I tested out the tag and it worked as it said it would. Personally I think the Apple Airtag is a better device purely because it uses iPhones to locate the Airtag and more people have iPhones so I think the location tracking might be better however the Samsung tag is still pretty good. Perfect to put on your key ring just in case you lose your house keys or car keys. Very small and easy to carry, you won’t notice its on there. Also has a nice feature to find your phone if you can’t find it which is very handy.
Working fine but I can’t find any good use for i
Excellent little device, we use ours for our wireless car keys as they always seem to wander especially with a toddler in the house. Battery still going strong since January and it’s easy to link up with your Android phone to either track it on a map or on signal strength or making beeping noises. Works the other way too using Bluetooth to find your phone.
Bought one for 12 on offer and it was very useful when the airline left my luggage behind during a transfer. I knew immediately that they had messed up when I landed and filled in a lost luggage form without waiting for luggage to be delivered to the belt. I was able to track as my “lost” bag was sent on and finally delivered via a courier. Very good for the price. However, be aware that you are entirely dependent on having people with Galaxy phones near the tracker in order to get an update on it’s location.
I have subsequently bought another couple for the car and for future travels/baggage.
Use for tracking your car, bag wallet etc. Works within Bluetooth range of your own device AND most importantly other Samsung devices. I tested the smart tag. By leaving it in my partners bag. Its location was reported by another samsung phone and then the final location fine tuned with signal strength and finally audible sound from the tag. Recommended for stalkers….
Just bought these for my daughter and family who were returning to New Zealand via Heathrow after a two month stay in the UK with 4 suitcases. 3 suitcases made it but the fourth one didn’t. The Smart tag showed it was still in terminal 5! The tag followed it to T3 then on to Sydney and eventually, 10 days after they left the UK, it arrived in New Zealand. So, although they could only follow it via the tag at least they knew what was happening to it. There was no communication from the airline at all after they had done the initial lost baggage report so, although the outcome would have been the same, at least they could see where it was at any given time.
My cat went missing for 3 days whilst i was away and I was able to locate him using the smart tag. Although it wasn’t a good idea to sound the bell on it as it freaked him out. But he is now home under house arrest!
Brought this as a spare tracker device if something was to happen to the one wired in to a 12v battery.
Works rather well as long as you don’t live in the middle of no where this is because it relays on the Samsung find me service and low power Bluetooth to keep its self known on the location so if you don’t get any phones near it the device will not update on the find me app.
The tag is nice and small though and easy to hide or attach to a key chain.
Bike got stolen from outside a restaurant yesterday. I had hidden one of these in the frame. I was able to track the bike, confront the thief and get my bike back. Best piece of kit ever.
The button on the tracker can be set up to turn on or off smart devices. Great little gadget.
We got this hoping to use it for tracking our dog if she got away from us on a walk but as it relys on Bluetooth connection it’s really not suitable. Not enough android users in our area. Although I must say when she was with my fiance on a walk it was accurate positioning.
However we are going to keep it and use it for in our luggage incase it goes missing and hope there’s more connections in a busy area like an airport.
I don’t have any dislike about it . I am happy for purchasing this product from Amazon. Well done, guys
you can put these on a no: of things including kids when your out and about, the only down side to these are you can only buy the pink and green ones in a 4 pack
Handy to have, and easy to use.
Attach to anything you could lose, and you are sorted.
With TILE it took about 5 minutes to connect to my phone when trying to locate missing keys in my house, Samsung Tag takes no more than around 5 seconds every time.
Coupled with the fact that this uses other people’s android devices to locate rather than the less populated TILE community means you’ll locate your lost items much faster. Stick this in the car as a less expensive GPS tracker.
Hubby lost his car keys (numpty!). A fifteen minute bus ride and a 5 min walk after being informed of said loss, the tracker took me directly to the shop where some kind person had handed them in. Happy days.
Purchased these to keep track of something that would be moving to different places for a while to be sure it was where it should be and so far have worked great. These are small enough to be discreet but big enough to handle easily.
Well I bought one to see how it would work. Actually it did save me once.
I was going out – went to the car loaded stuff in the back hatch then drove off.
I hit the phone button on my console only to find that it wasn’t connecting. So I double tapped the button on this and nothing.
Immediately turned around (luckily wasn’t too far away) and went home to find as I got closer to my house the tag started beeping.
The phone was on the ground, it had slipped out of my coat which I put in the back.
Cons:
From what I can see is the battery life. The first battery (it came with ) didn’t last long at all (OK so we can sometimes expect that as no one knows how long that has been in there or what quality they use to save money.
I’ve since replaced that and this one has lasted longer but looking now Smarthings shows about 60 % left.
I would have hoped it was better than that but I got is cheap so it was worth trying out and it’s not entirely useless.
Bought to put on my dad’s keyring as he has dementia so might need to track him if he gets lost. Pings off close samsungs. works well. We haven’t had to test it to find him yet but I’m impressed for the price.
Look you have probably read some of the reviews here and are a bit sceptical.
First of all let me make it clear that if you have a phone that isn’t a Samsung, or even a Samsung that is running android 7 or below. This smart tag straight up isn’t going to work for you.
However if you have a newish Samsung then here is what you an expect. The Tag is a great little item for tracking lost things around the house or in a small area, reliably. It has a mini speaker that van produce a decent amount of noise for easily tracking down the tag. If it a very loud area I believe it would make it very hard to find.
The navigation on the Smartthings app, which you need to actually use the tag. Is alright, I feel like on the latest Samsung phones it works great and smooth no problem. But when you get to slightly older phones, from experience s9 or below. You’re going to have a sluggish response to navigating around the app.
So on the app you can set up the tag to find device which basically means if you click the button on the tag a certain way, for example long press the button, it will ring your phone which is great for the situations where you have your keys but lost your phone for example. You can also set up control devices which basically allows you, if you have set up your smart home bulbs, plugs ect to the smartthings app, to control said devices with the touch of a button. This feature for me was the most useful, I can press the button on my keys to turn on the fan in my room before I get home.
The this also a section in the smartthings app that basically allows you to track your tag. Sounds great on paper, most people assume when buying this item that this functionality is going to work out the gate. If you go back to the second paragraph and you meet the credentials then you will have the feature but for everyone else you will not. The Tag feeds back its location data to the app when it is close proximity to OTHER SAMSUNG PHONES. You could put the tag in your luggage but just know that if it does get lost of none of the people who are handling your case have a Samsung phone. Then you aren’t going to see where it is. Annoying for sure but Samsung still hold a pretty big margin of the market so its always a risk.
There is also a feature like geo tracking but this can only be used on the Tag+ version. Haven’t got one myself but would just make things a bit easier.
Sum it all up, if you are just going to throw this tag on your keys or behind your wallet I believe you won’t have much trouble finding it in a quick pinch. If however you are planning to use this tag to potentially track down your stolen bike. Then you are risking a chance that it may work or it may not work at all.
We’ve attached one to our childs backpack and it works well for tracking her in a field when we were camping, very pleased. would be helpful if the app had the option to set an alarm if she moved too far away from us. Really only a backup for an emergency, you can never really take your eyes of your toddler!
Only just out of the box and the battery was insufficient to perform an initial firmware update. As I regularly use CR2032 cells, I had a new one to hand. If you have a GALAXY phone with a UWB sensor, then it this tag should give the best location accuracy, I have only a base S20, so rely on the sound to find my keys. Works senseless with Samsung Smart Things.
This is exactly what I wanted. You need a samsung phone and android 12 for the tag to notify your phone.
When the tag is approx 100m away from my phone, my phone receives a notification.
Recently I had left my camera bag about 300 miles away when boarding a ferry. If I had had the samsung smarttag could have turned round within a few minutes and picked up. Works great!
Only had a week, not bothered about battery as can change, the app shows you how much charge is left.
Tried another make, not nearly as good as Samsung.
Really like the size and the range of functions. And the built in loop to attach to a keyring was a plus over the Apple equivalent.
The only problem was that the battery needed to be replaced after less than a week. Replacing the battery was easy, and was able to get a pack of spares from a variety of shops, but would have been nice for it to have lasted longer out of the box.
Apart from that one minor annoyance, I would highly recommend the overall product.
We now have 3 of these. My wife recently lost her car keys – which would have cost around 400 to replace! – but we located them within minutes thanks to the fact that I put one of these tags on each of our keys.
Obviously these are not GPS trackers – so you have to set your expectations accordingly – but for the price and the surprising accuracy of reporting of the location when I check/test them randomly, they are a great option and, as stated above, have more than paid for themselves already!
Definitely recommended.
I bought a two-pack of these a while ago on a whim, just to see if they were any good. It wasn’t clear from anything I read whether they could only be found by phones belonging to other SmartTag users (kind of like Tile, which I have also tried) or by _any_ Samsung Galaxy phone (kind of like Airtags, which can ping off any nearby iPhone). It turns out that it is the first one, which makes them really excellent.
There is a bit of a story that prompted me to write this review. I had been carrying one of these in my pocket for weeks, intended to attach it to my bicycle (but never remembering to do so). A few days ago, I noticed it missing. I don’t know how long it had been missing, but I figured it was around the house somewhere. Thing is, the “nearby search” (which uses Bluetooth) couldn’t find it in the house. So I set it to notify when it was next seen. A few minutes later, it was spotted, apparently 5 minutes walk away from my house. I figured that couldn’t be right and ignored it. I tried the same thing the following day and got the same result. So I walked to the spot where it was reported and turned on “nearby search” and – sure enough – the missing tag was reported to be nearby. Then I turned on the audible alarm and could hear it. Within two minutes, I found it lying in a grass verge where I would never have found it. It must have fallen out of my pocket some time before. The location history tells me that I lost it around a week ago. We have had some nasty weather (heavy rain, cold nights) since then but it survived it all and works well.
They aren’t as elegant-looking as the Apple equivalent, but they do seem to work every bit as well. Unlike the Tile, you don’t need to pay a monthly fee to have location history (although you do need to have a Samsung phone to track them).
I like the SmartThings integration. If used on a key ring normally kept with you it is an easy click to turn on a specific regularly used function such as turning on a light, or a Samsung TV. A double click will ring your phone if nearby. Also has a fairly loud speaker which can be activated from the phone if the tag and keys go missing.
Bluetooth tracking is a little weird in that it seems to follow the associated phone for quite a distance (more than bluetooth range) even if the tag and item was left at home; so this can give false ‘last detected’ readings in the app.
Also there is quite a delay to the app reporting the bluetooth distance, so probably not that useful for moving targets such as on a pet; although the speaker may help if close enough to be heard.
Note the difference between Tag and Tag+ products. The Tag+ uses different technology and only works with the very latest phones.
These do work depending where they are used. I have one on my keys, and one hid one in my car. When my phone is near them it uses bluetooth to find the tags, when out of range they rely on other samsung phones passing nearby to find them for you, and you can be alerted when they are eventually discovered. Tested in my car, leaving it in various car parks, on average detected within 20 to 30 mins of leaving it there, sometimes quicker as it depends how built up the area is and how many samsung devices are nearby. If you live out in the sticks with no one around they wont be detected unless in bluetooth range. They are not a real time gps tracker, which would cost a lot more and use much more power. The battery in these tags lasts about a year, which can then be replaced. A simple inexpensive little tracker similar to apple airtags. Will order more in the future.
After purchasing this I didn’t realise its going to work so well. It does everything that is mentioned in the description. The quality of the device is very nice, I like the colours of the devices.
Sometimes I’ve had issues locating another device on my phone and the smart tag actually picks up the location before anything! So Google maps really need to up their game! It works really well. It’s accurate and allows us to leave our items with smart tag where ever. The alarm noise is good as we have tested this.
Since we purchased it we haven’t had to change the battery so its quite long lasting I presume!
Really like these. Effectively cheap tracker for car and other valuables if they go walkabouts.
Would be 5 stars but samsung inability to allow more than one samsung account to view the trackers location is disappointing so cannot put this on my other half’s account incase I lose my phone for example. I don’t want to sign my samsung account in to her device and enable an auto sync of her stuff and mine
I recieved one of these with my Samsung S21 Ultra and immediatly installed the fob on my keys. I hooked it up to my phone easily via the Galaxy & Smarthings apps. As a Smarthings user for my “smart home” devices, I found the installation process very easy, though I dont think many would struggle as its explained very well.
Usage is pretty basic in terms of a device
There is a button on the top that can be configured to ring the device its linked too or whatever else you fancy like notify someone or turn on a light etc, or you can long press it to do something else of your choice.
The noise this device gives off when trying to locate it is loud enough for you to hear it. No issues there.
The tag is also VERY light, there really isnt much too it, think the weight of a small wireless ear bud.
Regards battery life, I cant really say as ive only had since the S21 release. It tells me it has “Sufficient” battery life as of now with a mostly full battery icon.
I do honestly believe its overpriced for what it is, but its a good addition to your smart setup.
I purchased this device in addition to the one Samsung gave me for my wife, just incase she loses her keys (most of us have been there)
Worth a buy…..kinda
I bought this item just to test what it could and could not do. The results were somewhat mixed…
In reality, THIS version is just a bluetooth (BLE) device with all the limitations that that implies. Yes – it can find be attached to your keys and then found from your phone. The phone can also be found using the button – but only if the two are within bluetooth range of each other. (And only if the phone was made by Samsung, of course. 🙂
Samsung’s claim that a lost item might be found “in the field” if it is located by another user’s device could not be tested, but, in truth, the whole principle means that the “lost” button is a hostage to fortune until someone passes close by it.
On the other hand… my primary use for this device is as a trigger controller for Smartthings routines – typically to set up certain smart home conditions on leaving my premises, and when arriving back. Because the button is quite small and light, it works very well in this use case, and has proven 100% reliable while doing so.
In summary, I quite like the little button for itself. But it is an expensive way of triggering smart home events, and (of course) it depends on the Smartthings ecosystem for any of its more useful functions.
