Our just over one year old microwave had the paintwork start to fall off and so needed replacing. I have always liked flatbed microwaves as you can fit so much more in them and this Sharp model didn’t disappoint. Firstly it looks stunning, I love the design. It has an external handle to open the door which I much prefer to the push button type. The controls are nicely laid out and the dial to set the time is so much nicer than the push button type. The cooking results of this microwave have been great and everything cooks evenly. The fan noise is a little on the high side compared to others but not too bad.
The biggest plus point for me is that you can turn off all the annoying and over the top bleeping noises that all electrical devices seem to insist on these days. When the microwave has finished cooking it just stops and displays end to let you know it’s finished. So much nicer than lots of annoying bleeping.
In conclusion I really like this microwave and hope it lasts a long time.
I like the flatbedicrowaves as it’s gives much more room in the cavity. It’s simple enough to programme and has pre-set features. Nice looking black with silver trim. Good price for a flatbed
How liberating to have a microwave that doesn’t need a turntable! For years I’ve got so irritated when large dishes don’t fit properly on the turntable and you end up dislodging it. They’re also a pain to clean! This machine has huge capacity as a result of not needing a turntable. I also like the Auto Cook buttons, giving you options for perfect cooking of specific foods at the right power level and for the right time depending on weight (e.g. jacket potatoes). The smooth inner walls of the microwave are easy to clean. The overall design is slick and smart, and doesn’t take up too much space.
I think this microwave is really brilliant in terms of performance, always heats up food as needed. The functions of auto-defreezing also works really well. I personally don’t use other programs too often so can’t give my opinions on them.
The only issues I’m having are regarding the ease of use. The panel under the programs is really confusing, even simple things like changing time is very counter-intuitive. Also, I dislike the fact that you can’t specify an exact power (700W, 600W, etc.) but rather you select values between 10 & 100. Sure, you can look up the corresponding values either online or in manual but who would be checking it every time you’re using a microwave.
To sum up, it’s a good quality microwave but I only recommend it for people who are not bad with technology. My parents are struggling significantly with using this microwave while they have no issues with using their Samsung microwave at home, which is way clearer and easier.
This is a very good microwave which also has grill and convection oven facilities. I bought it because my Hoover microwave with grill started to rust badly on the painted steel interior after just a few weeks. I wanted a stainless steel interior. This microwave has a large stainless interior. It has no turntable so can accept larger items. Grill and convection oven are added benefits. Simple to operate. Has various combination cooking modes (microwave + grill, microwave + convection oven etc), and has a quality feel to it. Even comes with a grill tray and shelf. Highly recommended.

ice but I am not sure about the presets. porridge setting is over 20mins. its very and I mean very noisy but easy to use and for the price and the convenience of a flat bed it gets 4 stars.
The microwave part works as usual but the grill thing isn’t my favourite. I noticed, the outside top of the microwave gets really hot. Probably nothing but it doesn’t fill me with confidence.
It’s a good product used domestically but the Time Setting Option didn’t work when I needed it. Thus I couldn’t set the correct time at the beginning of the British Summer Time. Apart from that, it works perfectly.
Does the job. Preset cooking buttons a waste of space.
Looks good, heats up better and defrosts evenly, unlike my last turntable microwaves no noisier than any other microwave I have had and you can turn off the bleeps. Its quicker and you don’t have the hassle of turntable. Great buy and I would highly recommend!
Quite unfathomable how some reviewers find using the features difficult and why they find it noisy. It’s a microwave, they make noise. I’ve had several different models and this isn’t noisier than any of them
its a beautiful item which matches my kitchen outlook, serve the pupose
my first flatbed was currys saisho some 40 years ago, nice to see them back
Needed a new microwave with grill as with my other the turntable stopped turning.
This is great as it is a flatbed so is without any turntable. It look great and the microwave part works very well. A bit disappointed on the grill though as you need to be careful using the included rack. Depending on what you are cooking it can burn whatever is on it. Would have been better to have either another lower position for the rack or a high to low setting for the grill. Solved it in part by placing a small oven tray on a cake tin which lowers it by a few inches.
Does everything it should! Looks nice and feels good quality.
My wife was very fussy when looking for a new microwave and finally chose this one. It’s not too complicated and has great features. She needed one that had at least 20l capacity and would fit on our counter. This did all that and more.
This is definitely a step up from our last supermarket brand 700 watt microwave.
Easy to use, very fast to heat at 900 Watts.
Easy to clean as it has no turntable.
Would recommend.
Good build does what is says on the tin, the only thing is that the viewing window is bit small.
The design of this microwave is very sleek and good looking in my kitchen, It seems to work faster than my last microwave of the same heat level. This microwave is great value for the price.
This is my first flatbed, and I don’t think I’d go back to a turntable. It is easy to clean and the non-stick lining is great and looks well made. Just a wipe with a soapy cloth. The microwave cooking seems uniform (I really use for ready-meals), and I can use larger and rectangular containers too.
This is also the first time that I’ve had an inbuilt grill and it is impressive with almost instant heat and cooking fish was quick and they browned nicely. Jacket potatoes are fast plus get a crispy jacket.
You can use a combination of microwave+grill and can select the proportion of each to be used and here the instruction manual is very useful. For simple microwaving it works so logically even a child could guess it, if they can overcome the child lock! Strangely, and cleverly, the control panel won’t work until you open the door, so little fingers don’t start it accidentally. (After the initial opening the controls work whether the door is open or closed).
A niggle, and I was about to return the machine because of it until I worked out what the instructions meant: the beep is loud and it beeps a lot. It will beep when the cooking is done and then beep every two minutes until you open the door. Poor neighbours! However you can mute the sound completely: open the door, press the child lock once, quickly, and “off” appears briefly. The downside though is it doesn’t tell you when the cooking has finished.
Overall, excellent machine, large enough for couples (bigger version available for families), it is compact, well made and I’d recommend it, even with the b**ping beeping sound!
Smart, small microwave that is large enough inside for a full size dinner plate and does everything you could wish. Arrived promptly, well packaged and in perfect condition.
Very easy to use and it heats up the food items pretty well. Having the option of a built in grill too is useful. One improvement would be to have a digital time clock on the microwave. Other than that I’d say this was well worth the price!
A nice little microwave ideal for the caravan, works well no problems.

Easy and straight forward to use- not as big as some microwaves so handy for small kitche
I’ve paid a lot more in the past for a microwave oven, but this is easily the best I’ve used. And a decent price too
I’d wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone!

My previous Sharp microwave died after more than 10 years of use. This one has fits the void left perfectly. Easy to use, looks stylish.
I shopped around for quite a while before deciding on this model of microwave. Having had it for some time now, it is still as good as it first seemed. It’s very easy to use. The menu is almost foolproof and very self explanatory. I like that you can add 10 or 30 second increments while it’s already on, for example.
It’s also got dedicated settings for pizza, popcorn, reheating tea, etc, if you might prefer to use them.
The grill function is a great added bonus, but I think it is only realistically useful for things such as grilled cheese, rather than things that take a long time, for those, you are better with a real grill as it would be a lot faster. In my opinion this is one of the better budget microwaves available, at least at the time I purchased it, and it is still going strong.

works very well doe’s what its say’s on box and is ease to use
Loving this microwave & with the grill makes its very versatile. One has to download load the instructions unfortunately. Would be nice to have some recipes though. But proving to be a powerful addition to the kitche

The item came quickly easy to use this was a replacement has the original microwave the glass on the door cracked. So I would just be mindful when closing the door as I believe this is how the issue arose. I did contact Sharp who were less than helpful and would not admit liability that this maybe a design fault apart from that so far so good

because i have a very small kitchen this is the ideal size
Does the microwaving well. Its the owner who I blame for not knowing how to use it to its full potential! No manual included

I love the space-saving design which means there is still plenty of functional space left on the counter top surface for food prep. This is easy to clean and heats food through thoroughly and with the light facility, you can see your food whilst cooking inside the microwave. Definitely value for money and looks good.
For reasons I forget we decided we wanted to replace our dying Panasonic with a old skool turny-knob microwave. You lose the accurate timer (and digital clock, if you ever worked out how to set it) but you gain the speed of ‘turn…brrrrrr’ and of course the “DINGGG!!” When is done.
Only other knob-controlled microwaves were either supermarket own brand in garish colours orr white plastic. Hopefully will last longer than our last (Panasonic) machine.
Also has a grill… Which I didn’t actually know till rereading the description just now!

It’s a cute little compact microwave. Not very powerful and a bit small. But fits nicely into the kitchen.

Looks good works well and is actually easy to set the clock on! I know that may not be important to some people, but it is to me, the microwave itself is actually easy to use and fits well in the kitche
My new rental has a tiny, old (?) Daewoo and it’s too Small To accommodate a small popcorn bag, and almost our plates. Tiny. A weird dial that inly had minutes and was frustrating to use. Six minutes to warm a bowl of pasta! That was the last straw. I was happy enough to have one for free for 3 months so we could spend money on more important things, but seeing the “pay over 5 months” option was the clincher And man, am I glad.
We call him Mr Sharpy and he’s bigger for sure, but also properly powerful. Easy to use. Increments that make sense. And no more burned popcorn! Highly recommend.
UPDATE: This unit is very sensitive to food in the wheel-well. If it starts moaning and making strange noises, you probably have crumbs or other obstacles you don’t know about yet that are making it hard for the turntable to move. Seems daft, but true! Clean it out, wipe the wheels (soak if meeded) and it should stop.

Want to STOP the beeping? Press (don’t hold) the child lock BUTTON once. Again, only press it once. Holding it would turn on the full Child Lock.
After pressing this button once the word ‘off’ will be displayed.
This mutes the microwave and after a minute turns on an anti tamper mode.
To exit tamper mode simply open the microwave door to un ‘Loc’.
For further help, read the microwave manual in the Child Lock section.

Sometimes difficult to press the buttons but slowly getting used to it!
So simple to use.
Heats food quickly and evenly.
Loses a star as it’s a little noisy.
You get a lot of steam inside beach time you use it so I have been drying it with kitchen towel each time as I suspect in time if you didn’t dry it it may have the potential to get rusty inside like my previous one did. Good microwave easy to use with preset options, baked potato option cooks them perfect!
Took a bit of time to work out setting, and you have to be careful to press firmly and at just the right angle to get the to work. Condensation can ve a bit of an issue so need to mop up excess moisture after every use, but for price compared to others am overall pleased with purchase.
The only problem I have with this microwave is the touch control – it can be very difficult at times to get touch right to activate the touch ‘buttons’. Should be easier.
Otherwise a very good (and good looking) microwave.
This was purchased to replaced an ageing 750w microwave/grill. Rated at 900w this microwave is far more powerful than that it replaced, although the grill doesn’t seem to be quite as effective. The design is almost identical to a Panasonic microwave that we had 20 years ago, but which lasted very well. The oven itself is cavernous, and will accommodate the largest of dinner plates on the turntable.
The Achilles heel of this machine is the control panel. Front mounted it features a pressure membrane which is less than sensitive and the control buttons themselves are extremely difficult to read, particularly in poor light. You can use either Microwave mode, Grill mode, or a combination of both.
Whilst there are a number of options, most require a number of key presses – although there is a leftover from our old Panasonic which isn’t publicised too well – press the start button without making any other selections and it will activate the microwave on full power for 30 seconds. Press it, say, 4 times in quick succession and it will run for 2 minutes (4×30 seconds), and so on. That does save a bit of time!
My 3rd Sharp microwave. The 1st was a big combination job, brilliant and long-lasting; 2nd was also a combination, but didn’t last very long. This time I decided I only needed a very simple one, but it had to be big enough to take my 30cm dinner plates. Bizarrely, this combination one was 20 cheaper than the simple one, so I went for it. I haven’t used most of its features, but it works fine for simple heating up, that being all I need it for, but it beeps excessively! The door button is easy to use, and it opens gently enough. One has to press the ‘microwave’ button before entering a time, which is pretty annoying – it should default to microwave – but the start button does default to 30 seconds microwave, and one can add to that with the time buttons, so not too difficult once one gets used to it.
It beeps every time I press any button, and five times at the end of the programme – and it won’t shut up if I immediately open the door, nor will it let me activate the Stop/Clear button while it’s beeping. If I neglect to take my food/drink out of the microwave, it beeps (twice) again five minutes later, which can be helpful, but it also beeps (twice) five minutes after I have taken it out! Why? What is the point of that? Mobile phones can be set for silent operation of keys, so why can’t we have a silent option on a microwave? (It should still beep at the end of the programme, but that’s the only beep I ever really need to hear from my microwave!) It is very annoying that I can’t use it quietly while husband is still asleep.
An extra press of the Stop/Clear button removes the time display, to save energy, but it would be better if this were handled by a ‘no time display’ setting, rather than having to press the key again after every use.
