Purchased this lock with a little scepticism as planned to place this on our back UPVC door and needed it to be robust and reliable. It’s been fitted for a few weeks now and so far it’s been excellent. I like the fact that it comes with a manual emergency key so if for some reason the lock ever failed to work using the plethora of unlock options there’s still a way to manually unlock it. When paired with the wifi hub you can also integrated it with other smart home products – I have mine integrated with Google Home and Home Assistant (both require the hub) and being able to see the status of the lock and control it from these other platforms is fantastic. I did have to purchase the cover up plates due to the location of the existing door handle holes – you can get them from the Simpled website and probably from Amazon too although I haven’t specifically checked. Their whatsapp support is also very good, I reached out a couple of times with questions both before purchase and afterwards, both with responses in a reasonable time. Don’t worry about installation, anyone who is reasonably good at DIY shouldn’t have a problem installing – just take your time and look up videos on Youtube well before starting the installation so you know what to expect. Now looking to possibly purchase more of their products for the front of the house!
My door handle arrived about 5pm. By 7pm I had the lock installed!
Is it perfectly straight – no (my own error nothing to do with the product)
Does it work – yes!
I made sure to go onto YouTube and watch some videos as the written instructions didn’t make a huge amount of sense to me personally (but I am dyslexic) followed a video and managed it.
I did have to drill two holes one for the cable and one for the top screw. I also had to make the current hole where to spindle is bigger and honestly this was the thing that took the most time as I had to use sandpaper to do this! So at least 30mins was spent on that to be honest.
My door is bigger than what it says the device fits but actually managed it without having to get a larger spindle and screws. However I did contact customer services to ask about getting the longer ones sent which I got a reply very very quickly and the person was absolutely lovely.
My advice is drill the hole for the cable way bigger than what is actually needed! I didn’t get an extension cable in my box but luckily it wasn’t needed. What I wanted to do was use the extension cable to put through the hole to make it easier to then pull the actual cable I was going to use through and have that bit more space so to speak.
Set up with the app was so easy, just remeber to tap around the keypad area before you press start to scan finger prints otherwise it says failed. I have added the same finger a few times to increase likelihood that finger will actually be read first time!
Honestly I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to do it myself – infact a builder at my house today told me I wouldn’t be able to do it! So he will get a pleasant surprise when he turns up tomorrow and I have done it as he said get a professional to come and fit it! I’m not giving 5 stars for easy to fit purely because it’s not super easy and I did use a video from YouTube that wasn’t the companies own video (but honestly don’t let that put you off from ordering it because it is possible to fit yourself)
I love the amount of different lock options on it so theres plenty of choice. The app also tells you how much battery is left which is also a bonus but also if in a push there is a key which I will be leaving in the key safe but also you can attach a battery pack if you end up totally stuck.
I now want one for my back door!
I haven’t brought the gateway for it but have put it into wish list and will keep an eye out for a discount on it but equally I don’t feel its massively required!
If you’ve some DIY skills it’s is easy to install. I struggled due to a new hole to be drilled and I really don’t want to get messed up with my main door. so I arranged a professional to drill a hole and he did the whole job in 20mins. All the accessories and services comes with a charge. I had Yale conexis L1, and I fit it myself, but the app and operation was rather too complicated and not user friendly. Compared to Conexis L1 simpled is a brilliant kit and user friendly. It even paired up with my Yale conexis magnetic key cards.I knocked down one star due to the inefficiency of child and pet safety.
Register same thumb multiple times and the fingerprint reader works every time
If only registered once it’s a bit hit and miss but once you’re used to it it’s a game change
Had this lock fitted on the recommendation of a locksmith. This WiFi enabled lock can be operated in multiple ways. However finger identification doesn’t work at times. Apart from that I found it very convenient.
The appearance is also good and can match most fixtures and finishes.
It’s too soon to comment on its reliability and lifespan.
What a fanastic bit of kit. I had spoke to Jamie before ordering the lock for a few technical queries. He put my mind at rest and they arrived today. All installed with absolutely no need for a locksmith to attend. I also ordered the gateway and and the whole package was a breeze to setup. Definately will recommend this to other people. For those of you considering BluSafe Solutions Origin Smart smart lock-save yourself the bother get this lock instead, it delivers on every single benefit and feature. The support is first class also.
So far, I am really happy with this lock. Everything works as promised. This lock gets sold under many different names but it’s clear that Simpled took their time to make this their product with the box, manual and everything else. For me on a brand-new composite door the installation was a breeze as I didn’t need to drill any holes and like some others had there was no gap left at the bottom.
Fingerprint sensor works well, I just suggest adding multiple entries of the same finger. Other methods seem to work as advertised. I would recommend this lock for those who are after a smart lock.
Well I had a yale lock for about 3 years now and it’s never been great. Always bleeping with a error and not very reliable at unlocking or even locking so I thought I’d take a chance on the simpled. All I can say, is WOW! There like chalk and cheeses. They’re fitting is almost identical although the simpled doesn’t have as many fitting options in length due to the bolt positions as I found and had to make a slightly alteration, also they have removed the extension cord from the box but not updated the paperwork inside but they will send one free and it only took a couple of days to deliver. Now to compare how the 2 work. The yale works by when you lift the handle and shoot the deal bolts in a motor has to turn the actual lock. This sounds great, but if you don’t quite get the handle fully up it goes into total melt down. If you just, shut the door and don’t lock it it keeps beeping at you. If you don’t push the handle far, enough the motor won’t spin the lock. It eats batteries with 4 weeks and to top it off the one time I needed to use a 9v battery as a emergency unlock it didn’t work so had to break into my own house. Not good. Now the simpled is very simple, it disengages the outside handle so if you shut the door it’s locked, lift the handle and extra locked. The set up is soooooo easy to pair phones, finger prints, codes and fobs. It’s just a dream to use. The included features of finger print and a pass code is so much better. The emergency let in is simple, just put a key in the bottom, turn and the handle is ready to use. It’s in a league of its own. So many more options for less money. Just don’t buy the yale is all I can say, the simpled is so superior in every way.
I got this after I locked myself out. The locksmith cost more than this lock, but he suggested replacing the front door lock on our rental.
Installation was pretty easy and the support on Whatsapp was great. I got stuck at a point where one of the screws wouldn’t fit through the hole in the existing locking mechanism. Not 30 seconds after asking, they responded to tell me that a lot of people were able to drill it out a bit to widen it without damaging anything. That was great because at the end of the tenancy I’m taking this with me and want to put everything back as it was when I moved in. The only thing I’d say about this is that if you do drill through, cover up the main part of the lock. I got some metal shavings in the lock mechanism and I think it might cause problems down the line.
Once I’d done that it was pretty easy. I did have to drill another hole in the door for the cable but that was straightforward too.
Now that I have it installed, it’s great. All of my kids have their fingerprints registered. No need to worry about them (or us losing a key). I bought some RFID key ring tags and coded 2 for the lettings agency. The nice thing is that if they let themselves in, I’ll know about it because it keeps track of who or which RFID tag opened it.
All in all I’ve been really happy. I also bought the WiFi gateway which doesn’t add a whole lot, but along with my video doorbell, I could potentially let someone in remotely if needed.
Would definitely recommend. Even the software isn’t too bad which is surprising because as far as I can tell, underneath it’s based on some licensed Chinese design and software.
I was weighing up between this and some other brands and I’m definitely glad I spent a bit more for this one. I can’t comment on the other one, but I can’t imagine it would have been better than this.
Amazing features, fingerprint reader is a little hit and miss, but the ability to give keys that are timed is a great feature. The fobs are great too. Does require you to install an app and those who you give keys to also need to install it. Overall pretty good
Rarely do I post a review, had been looking to avoid the “carrying & losing keys, can genuinely say superb/roust.Only difficulty I had was working out which barrels and screws to use (user error) simple enough but not added it to Alexa as needs a Wi-Fi bridge.also don’t need it. Will be looking to buy for the other door!
I purchased this without much research. So it was no surprise that I had a few issues. My existing “Contract, Wimpy build” Upvc door had a double spindle unlike those shown in the instructions with just one, it turns out that everything works OK on just the top spindle. My old lock had a “Hold open” knob where the cable needed to go through. The square hole was too small for the plug and needed drilling out to 8mm. Then I found that the hole at the top of the lock was too small for the post on the new handle to go through, so I had to drill that out too. The hole for the spindle through the door was too small on the outside of the door and was binding on the square drive of the handle which protrudes about 1/2 inch on that side. so I had to enlarge that a bit. This did take me more than 45 mins and I hope I’m not sabotaging the “Average Installation Time” but all in all I am very happy with the outcome. Make no mistake this is a very nice attractive and sturdy thing with loads of operating options. You will probably have a trouble free install if you only have the one spindle. The print in the instructions is very small
Very easy to install, I just needed 1 hole to drill and that was it. The handle feels very well made, very sturdy feel to it. Love the features especially the fingerprint reader and it almost feels like it’s too easy to enter your home without the use of keys. Would recommend this lock to anybody.
The fitting was simple holes all in line it only took 15 minutes. The app was downloaded and easy to follow.
Thank you your product lives up to the name
First Class
Great product, very well packaged and delivered on time. Simple installation, even for someone with limited DIY skills. Simple operation with finger print; app; code; fob; or key access! Brilliant, no keys to carry only you finger of mobile needed!
I don’t usually give reviews but this is good. I have a big family 6. So you can imagine all the keys.. now it’s on the phone or on the thumbs and more for the box to open the door. Easy enough to fit. You do need a bit of knowledge. My door was just too thick and I dropped one of the stubs in the door.. I what’s app them they said they would send me a pair.. still waiting…. But to my know how M5 rod connect nuts 15mn is the same thing.. that’s what saved my bacon.. All fixed then to fit the batteries didn’t work.. would you believe it.. I would say please check the lock before installing battery as well… But to my this can’t be I turned the batteries upside down and it worked. If you have a slim door it should be well ok. But all in all a very good product family is happy. it will last the time. Thanks for reading my rant… Have a great day
This is must for all share houses and AirBnB. Highly quality product with an easy installation done in half an hour. All my questions were answered with chat immediately. Literally no waiting time at all (within business hours). I can’t recommend it enough.
The product came beautifully packaged with very clear instructions and I was pleased with the build quality of the lock. I’ve never installed a lock before and my locksmith had a hell of a time trying to install a Yale Conexis for me last year, so I was fully prepared to shell out for a locksmith again to save myself the misery, but the instructions made it look pretty simple and it was! 45 mins later the lock was working beautifully and the app was seemless to use, unlike the app for the Conexis, which still refuses to let me in :-(.
I have to say it works exactly how I imaged! The installation is fairly easy and took me around 1 hour. There was a problem with my front part so got in touch with the customer service and they posted me a replacement straight away. I highly commend the customer service team!!! Great job guys. I would definitely buy it again.
We’ve had this Slim Series Smart Lock installed for a few months in our holiday let. We were looking for a solution to using a physical key safe that would provide our guests with better security. We chose this lock as it has various entry modes – passcodes, eKeys, car fobs, fingerprint reader and remote.
For guests, we simply generate timed codes for their arrival and departure dates. We also have the option of generating permanent codes, useful for housekeeping. For choice, guests can also use the card fobs provided in the house if they prefer to have something physical to use, which prove to be popular.
For the family, we have a mixture of eKeys, fingerprints, fobs and code. The fingerprint reader largely works well but sometimes struggles to open first time.
Installation was a bit fiddly on our new composite door and required quite a bit more than the instructions suggested to be cut out.
The digits on the door lock are fairly dim and you can struggle to read the numbers in bright sunshine. The manufacturers are aware of this.
We’ve had to have a replacement front panel as we weren’t happy with the brightness of the keypad and the handle started to loosen. Simpled were quick to send us a replacement front panel (pictured), which is a lot tighter, but time will tell as to whether this will go the same way. To make it easier for guests, we’ve purchased the wireless keypad, to ease daytime entry especially.
I particularly like the remote unlock option (available with the optional WiFi bridge) and have had to use it to unlock the door for guests in the past.
The TTlock app works well and the records are useful, although I’d like to see it log when the door is locked rather than just when it’s unlocked.
Overall, impressed with the lock but time will tell whether it’s durable for commercial use.
Easy to install, fob access works very well, but fingerprints are hot and miss. It’s not very easy to light up the panel to input a password. Build quality is OK, except for the battery compartment, which is very flimsy and held together by a tiny screw. It does the job.
Lifting the lid of the black box and seeing the neatly packaged components with the handles individually bagged you can tell straight away this is a quality product. Extremely well written clear instructions not your usual Chinese conversion. I’m a bit of a DIY er and took me around an hour to fit. Had to drill through the door to accommodate the upper mounting which I was nervous about as there would be no going back!
Quite rewarding after installation that everything works.
I installed this after a Yale Conexis L2 failed catastrophically on a Friday night with guests arriving the next day. Delivery arrived 6pm Saturday and lock installed & working by 8pm. In contrast to Yale, it just worked, without hours (10+) on the line to tech support.
The best feature is that the door is secure even if only pulled to. This is a must have for serviced accomodation/booking.com/airbnb. In relation to this, there is no zombie state in which the lock is confused about whether it’s locked or not resulting in being unable to unlock without trying to convince the lock it really is locked.
The mechanical emergency key is a very reassuring feature.
Finger print recognition works perfectly.
Setting up temporary codes is slick and straightforward with a well designed and simple process. I like the choice of 4-8 digits, adding to security.
The tabs work well and unlocking on the Android app is simple.
I like being able to see % of remaining battery.
It’s nice too that the keypad is on the handle rather than another battery operated unit to maintain.
For some, the simplicity of opening from the inside might be a child safety concern, but for a guest house type setting it is perfect.
I added a bridge today. I plugged in, followed a blindingly simple setup – and it worked.
In terms of build quality (matching Yale, but IMO neater), ease of installation & setup (vastly better than Yale apart from a bit of drilling to accomodate the cable), and functionality (streets ahead of Yale), this lock (so far, on day 2) has a great deal to commend it.
If I had known about this lock before I would have saved several days of being an unpaid Yale troubleshooter, many disturbed evenings trying to help guests gain access, and a long emergency journey to replace a failed lock.
Let’s hope the good start is the beginning of an uneventful but profitable relationship.
I read the reviews on this product which made my decision to go a head and purchase it.
I set it up day before installing and it worked fine. Thinking that I was going to have a bit of a small challenge a head installing the lock I got up at 0730. My god by 0759 it was done so simple and works perfectly. Finger prints loaded in and its a go.
Like the review said if you do not lift the handle up it will still lock.
Only real issue I have and it is small but worth mentioning, is the fact that it never mentioned that you need to purchase a gateway to use your lock remotely over Internet, plus side 49.99 and it will be here tomorrow.
I have had this 1 day but so far 10/10
My first experience with smart locks was when I moved into my current house two years ago. It was fitted with a Yale Conexis L1 smart lock which offered two/three ways to open the door: a key tag / phone sticker or via a smartphone. Despite calling Yale support several times, I never managed to get my phone to open the door. The key tag was OK, but if you left it somewhere, you were locked out. That’s the same as an ordinary key, of course, but shouldn’t smart locks be… smarter?
There were other problems with the Conexis that we learned to live with. Like the loud motor, ratcheting and chiming noises it made when opening and closing the lock–sometimes it woke my kids up when they were sleeping upstairs! The noise would continue for up to 20 seconds and end with some kind of chime.
I later learnt that there was a chime for opening, one for locking and one for lock failure. The manual doesn’t (cannot) explain this, so I sometimes went out leaving the door unlocked because I didn’t know that particular chime was a sign of lock failure.
The Conexis batteries lasted around three months–not great, but making all those loud noises must take its toll on the batteries…
In the end, these annoyances, together with poor reliability, drove me to look for a new door lock. I found several smart locks, but the Simpled SlimSeries was the one I decided was the best buy.
If you are wondering why I have detailed my experience with the Yale Conexis lock, it’s because it explains why I love the Simpled lock so much. Read on…
I fitted the Simpled lock myself. It is quite easy, but I had to drill two holes through my door. The scary bit was I had to drill the holes through the door AND the mortise lock. I’m no locksmith. I did look at the mortise lock, and I THOUGHT I would be drilling through a part that would not harm it. It was one of those moments when you take a deep breath and just do it. Luckily no harm was done. You may not have to do this–it just depends on the size and location of your existing mortise lock.
One small annoyance was that the Simpled body is not quite as long as the Conexis, so I was left with a gap to fill and paint. See picture. A very minor matter in the scheme of things.
I fitted the lock and set up the app. It worked! I set up fingerprints for myself, my wife and my six-year-old daughter. They worked! Of course, I would never give a six-year-old a key tag in case she lost it, but she’s not going to lose her thumb! Then I set up unlock codes. They worked too. Finally, I registered the key tags that Simpled supplied. They worked too. I even repurposed the old key tags I used with the Conexis lock, and they worked too. So now we have spares.
Now, my wife and I can get in with a fingerprint, an unlock code, a key tag and with our smartphones. Even if someone forgets their key tag, unlock code AND smartphone, they can still get in with their fingerprint. Wonderful. And best of all, unlocking the door with a fingerprint is reliable and faster than using a key!
With the Conexis, you could walk away from the house and forget to lock it, but the Simpled automatically locks within a few seconds of being unlocked, so unlocked doors are now a thing of the past.
Also, the Simpled is eerily quiet. Mechanically, it barely makes a murmur as it locks and unlocks. But it does have a little voice that says, in English, not in chimes, “Door locked” and “Door unlocked”. Very clear but not loud enough to wake the kids!
Finally, the Conexis had a safety feature that the Simpled lacked. To open the door from the inside with the Conexis, it was necessary to turn a chrome knob anticlockwise before the door could be opened. The knob was awkward and sometimes took a couple of tries to make it operate. Presumably, this was intentional to make opening the door childproof. That’s a useful feature.
The Simpled does not have this–the door can be opened from the inside by pulling the handle down–even a two-year-old could do it! So, if you have vulnerable people (even smart pets) in the house, you will need to fit something to prevent this. There are plenty of suitable gadgets. We simply keep the existing night chain engaged all the time.
There we have it. This lock is a huge leap forward compared with the Conexis L1, and that is why I love it. All that remains is to find out if it is reliable in the long term and if the batteries really do last up to 12 months!
Nice product, well presented and good features.
Bit of a PITA to fit to composite door with multipoont locking.
Ended up having to drill a hole in the metal lock mech to fit the cable.
Also had to enlarge existing holes for the square bar.
It’s held in with a split pin which increases the diameter, a small grub screw would be a good design change.
Other than that, very cool smart looking lock.
Reading some of the earlier reviews I had prepared myself for a rather difficult installation process, but the simpled lock and handle was rather easy to set up. What stood out was their customer support on WhatsApp providing support even on weekends.
So far in the early days, it’s been working soundly. However I would like to point out a few things for others.
1) I had to turn the handle 180, and that took longer than actual installation. Had to use hammer on Allen key for the screw inside to budge.
2) The fingerprint scanner has a tough time scanning your finger if it’s wet outside.
3) It would have made more sense to allow the phone to be used as a key. The CS says it works with some phones, but didn’t work with my S22.
4) While I do think the installation was easy for me with no drilling required, it could be because I had a 2 year old lock. Older locks may mean a longer installation time.
I was looking for an easy locking mechanism for an Airbnb. This has worked perfectly. The app works well and I can set different passcodes for each individual guest. The finger print entry is so easy for me and other trusted members of the family.
Was beyond me to fit, so I had so spend quite a bit to get a locksmith to fit.
Bit annoying that I need to be within a few metres to change the passcode but it’s doable. Also I’ve found in bright sunlight, it is difficult to see the digits. They could do with being much brighter.
I’d also like the manufacturer to get these products that could be perfect, to pass insurer’s standards as currently they are not so do be aware and make your own judgement call.
I bought the first lock (Matt Black) for my regular size front door (40mm thick) and a silver one later for the patio door(65-70mm). Read all the reviews and watched lots of YouTube videos, and yet, still got in some problems, but still managed to have them installed eventually, and I am happy with their CS on whatsapp support.
To consolidate my experience along with other’s reviews, here are few things to focus and I think the company will reflect on them as well ( I am asked by them to review even they knew I was not going to give a 5 stars)
1. Some of the other brands on Amazon selling similar locks at similar price(might be cheaper on list price). I watched their videos as well, installation and design are extremely similar, but I think Simpled’s whatsapp support can make it stand out over other brands as other reviews point out
2. I bought 1st lock at 200 after voucher, then 1 week or so it went to deal and the price is at 159, then I bought a silver one for the patio door. So patience does pay if you can wait for deals. If you live in the UK, buying from their website with a bundle with gateway or 2 locks or 2 locks and 2 gateways will even be a better deal. So do check them out.
3. My front door lock was a yale lockmaster and it has 2 holes instead of a recessed area for the cable hole drilling gave me an extreme hard time ( drilling a hole but the mortice’s hole is not big enough for the cable to go through . So if it’s also your case, try to see if the screw hole can let the cable thru first, it it does, thread it through the hole first and squeeze it with the the screw (stub) gently( actually thats what they suggest in the manual). Then it will save you from drilling any hole and a clean installation. That’s how my front door is installed, could have been a 45 minutes work instead of 2 hours with the hole drilling, trying and cleaning.
4. If both of the holes will not fit the cable thru, as it’s my patio door case, you have to switch the sliding screw and cable orientation. That means drilling a hole above the mortice position and use the old hole for the sliding stub to go through. In this case, you need a cable extension. BEAWARE, my matt black lock came in with an older package with no extension cable, but the silver one came with the newer version (their brand name is on it) and a cable extension. So if you have a thick door, order a silver lock is a safer bet. Although i do believe they will ship you one for free if one is needed, just time consuming.
5. Save your old lock screws, for the middle length screw it fit the top part, the longest screw wouldn’t fit the bottom if you have a thick door, so i re-used the old lock screw it fits fine except it is not flush with the lock surface.
6. After all the hard work for the thick patio door, the spindle bar (80mm) was not long enough. Talked to CS and they dont have 100mm in stock as other pointed out long time ago. I used a 100mm split end spindle ( you cN buy it from amazon for 6.99) and a very small screw to hold it in place (using the split in hole). It worked. And finally both locks work fine.
7. Most of us DIY installers talked to their whatsapp support and they probably know lots of tricks and solutions, so i do recommend talk to them first before buying the locks.
Lengthy review, and some of the usual stuffs have not been covered here were already covered by others, so have fun installing.
The first lock developed a fault on the first day
Eventually Contacted seller and i was asked to send a video of the lock not working, they apologised and sent a replacement
I would recommend this lock as this type suits my needs, the after sales team were efficient and very helpful
Only one issue there were no phone lines manned on the weekend but i was told i was in a queue, but no one there,( needs updating )
I have searching the smart locks on the marcket, and Simpled smart lock is the one of best locks which meet my all requirments.
1. It is easy to replace my cueent uPVC door lock, the instalation is relatively easy compared other smart locks. I only use the 10mm drill to expand the up screw hole of ther current door, and it will be easy to fit the smart lock.
2. Simpled has all the features including the fingerprint, password, fob, mobile keys, and the remote control if you have installed the Wifi bridge. The APP is easy to use and you can check all the smart lock records. It is water proof lock for the outside door installtion.
3. Very good customer service and they provided the accessories very quick.
I would suggest some other improvements in future.
1. Use the type C interface for the emergency power connector
2. Support the rechargeable Lithum batery and the charging point connector is on inner door side
Just had the lock fitted this morning, so far great; easy to set up and use. Checked with Simpled prior to installation that this was a suitable replacement for current lock, they were quick to respond.
Very easy to install, great having all the different options of locking /unlocking. The audible “door locked”
is a great idea. This is streets ahead of the Yale version which I originally installed, but after spending hours trying to get it working eventually sent it back!
Overall very satisfied. The product had great functionality with code, key, fob, proximate device and fingerprint access. The pre and post sales support from Sara was world class. Helping answer queries from insurance company, and resolve a problem with initial device. The product looks good, robust, polished and even the packing attractive.
The instructions are quite clear but could be clearer in places. Specifically
1. Pictures show a screwdriver needed to swap handles round but not what type . The hallam key provided does the job
2. Some pictures need enlarging
3. A guides ad to which spindle to use by door size would help
4. A physical template
5. The troubleshooting info needs yo be expanded
However overall I am very pleased
This is a great product. I’m a landlord and this is the 7th one I’ve personally ordered.
The customer service is quick to respond as well with any support you need. I’d highly recommend this product.
I am not diy inclined so knew I was going to have to get a locksmith from the outset. With that in mind, I had lots of queries about the lock and if it would fit the door or not. Contacted customer service where all my queries was answered and even sent them a video of my door as I was skeptical about the fit. I found them very helpful. The locksmith fitting the lock was so impressed with the build of the lock and ease of fit and set up that he is now going to be recommending to others. I am equally impressed too. No more missing keys!
IMPORTANT TAKEAWAY:
1. Simple installation ONLY if your door width is within the specified range (35 – 65 mm). Thicker door needs some serious DIY skills
2. If you have a thick door, contact SIMPLED through Whastapp for longer spindles, screws, etc. beforehand, my additional accessories took 10 days to arrive.
3. Need to drill a hole for the upper screw and cable. Stay away if you’re not comfortable with this.
4. Lookout for special deal before buying, I bought it for 158 only instead of 220 listed. Deals come and go.
SERIOUS REVIEW:
My lock arrived the next day after ordering. Asked Simpled CS beforehand about compatibility with my uPVC door with 70 mm thickness, 5 mm more than suggested. They say long spindle (80 mm) and screws included and should be fine. Can request longer one if needed. Tried installing and failed, the spindle is a few mm too short for me. Asked Simpled and they offer acceesories through Royal Mail, which took 10 days to reach me. Reflected to them to use a different courier.
I read almost all reviews on Amazon before pulling the trigger to buy and install it myself. As someone with engineering and IT background, I thought it’d not be too difficult for me, but as it turns out, my thick door creates so many troubles to go ahead.
The installation manual is very detailed and to the point, strongly suggest to read them all before moving forward.
As per many reviews and tips have mentioned, and my own experience, you need to:
1. Drill a hole for the upper screw/stub and cable to pass through
2. May have to enlarge the spindle hole to avoid the split pin touching the door frame
3. Cut Spindle/mounting screws if they’re too long
If you have confidence and the tools required to perform these 3 steps, other stuff are easy. I will elaborate a bit more.
1. The upper mounting hole:
My existing dumb door handle is a short version which has 2 mounting screws below the handle. This creates a must for me to drill a hole for the upper screw of the smart lock. I planned carefully and tried to drill a hole which is at a position for the most common door handle with 210 mm between mounting holes, with a hope of re-using the same hole for future replacement of dump handle again. Be careful here, 210 mm is between the mounting holes of the dumb handle, not the smart handle. Do your measurement carefully. The other obvious reason for this choice of the upper hole is it should be the most compatible screw hole distance for most mortise. I am too lazy to disassemble the multi-lock mechanisum and take out the mortise.
Another detail review by others reminded us the upper mounting hole has to be 25 mm in diameter, so as to let the slack of the extension cable to tuck inside the hole, or else you cannot screw the battery cover. I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS NOT NECESSARY. I just drilled a 10 mm hole and the screw and the cable is fine. May be 11-12 mm is better and allow more space. The extra cable can sit in the battery compartment nicely (see attached picture.). When drilling the upvc door, do it stage by stage, i.e. drill through the first pvc layer, then stop, have a look and see whether you really position correctly to a hole/space in the mortise, then adjust the hole size if needed to aim correctly with the mortise space, and pass the drill bit through to the other side of the upvc door. Don’t drill hard without looking or aligning. Of course, it’s much safer to disassemble the mortise and make some more accurate measurement for the position of the hole. My 210 mm position works for me and I don’t have to disassemble the mortise.
2. The Spindle Hole on the outside:
Most probably you have to enlarge the hole on the OUTSIDE of the door, I enlarged to around 15 mm. Double check with the spindle and split pin inserted to check the pin is not touching the door frame. Enlarge the hole if needed.
3. Longer Spindle and Screws:
The supplied 80 mm spindle does not work for my 70 mm door thickness. 2 – 3 mm longer should be fine, but 90 mm spindle should be much better for a secure catch. Contacted Simpled and they offered me 120 mm spindle (90 mm out of stock), and some longer screws and stubs. It’s just I waited for 10 days for them to arrive. As it turns out, the spindle and the screws are too long this time. After some careful measurements, I have to cut the spindle to 10 cm, and the screws has to be cut short too for a secure fix. A bosch multi-cutting tool is perfect for the job. The steel spindle is quite hard and make sure you pick a blade which is hard enough for metal.
4. Important TIP our of my failure:
When mounting the stubs, especially the lower one which mount on the outside handle, make sure you tighthened it with a tool, e.g. a piler, or else the stub may rotate along with your mounting screw, and I dropped a stub INSIDE my upvc door while I disassembled the lock due to the spindle being too short. Luckily Simpled sent over new stubs too.
5. The gaskets:
Be sure to check and see whether the lock handles sit on the gaskets nicely, it will moved out of place if you do not pay attention to it when tightening the screws, and jeopardizing the waterproof rating.
6. Fine tuning:
After installation, I tested the smoothness of the operation and found the split pin is touching the door frame. I have to enlarge the spindle hole to fix the problem.
7. App Installation and Setup:
Very simple and ituitive. Just follow the manual and install the TTlock app. I thought it’s a UK designed and developed smart LOCK, as it turns out, the app is a common Smart Door app for many Chinese smart lock. The design of the app is very similar to many smart locks from China too (check Aliexpress and you will see). I am not saying Simpled is not designed in the UK, but at least the app platform is not solely UK-based. The cloud funtionality may be based in servers in China. Some may have problems with such arrangement and you’re warned.
8. Final verdict:
The lock works on the TTLock platform only. It operates nicely and responsively when properly installed and tuned. I picked this brand solely because of the good and promised compatibility with UK multi-point upvc door and the excellent support and reviews. Having a TUYA smart home platform, I can in fact try to pick a TUYA smart lock from Aliexpress and integrate them better to my smart home systems. However, the support and documentation from these Chinese seller is horrible and too remote and I opt for the easy route, buying through Amazon.
As someone with lots of DIY experience, I would say the installation can be quite demanding for some for thicker doors, and you better paid a locksmith to install it for you if you you don’t have the tools (drilling, cutting, etc.) at hand.
An excellent purchase so far. Will provide update on the durability over time and consider buying a few more for other doors in my house.
Before fitting I enquired if this would be ok on a 70mm thick door and was told it would be ok. It wasn’t as the spindle was not long enough but a longer one was sent after a WhatsApp chat.
As another reviewer mentioned the screw post that attaches to the outside handle would not pass through the mortice. Don’t bother trying to cut it down as I did because it’s not threaded all the way through. I sourced 2x M5 rod connecting long nuts, cut one down a little so as the length was just short of the mortise. Then I cutt a screw to length to make it work.
The secret to the fingerprint reader only working 50% of time seems to be just rest finger lightly. Works 90% of the time then.
A good door lock just be aware that you may have to make some modifications. Kept me busy for a couple of days. Half of the visitors to the house think the fingerprint reader is a doorbell.
It was easy to install although I had a bit of difficulties as my original multipoint lock had two spindles, but the new Simpled lock has only one spindle. I contacted the seller to get help. Following their instruction, I used the top spindles and everything was so easy to fit. It took less than 10 minutes.
Best customer support and product.
Highly recommend.
I took quite a while looking for a smart automated lock and wanted one that auto locks due to having dogs that like walks but when excite pull and trying to do little more than pushing the door closed is troublesome this lock does all I need.
I comes with finger prints, temporary and permanent access codes, ekeys that can be timed and sent anywhere so great for AirBnB rentals and the likes of.
Install was straight forward and set up for me at least was within in my ability as a fairly confident smart home self installer with many devices.
Price wise more than the eBay versions but this is a company with support and extras, key fobs, more tags etc so not left hanging when something if it ever did go wrong.
Ease of fitting dependant on existing door and locking mechanism. Instructions very helpful but in my case some DIY skills required.
Square drive shaft to short for my door so existing shaft had to be used requiring drilling for split pin and then cutting to length.
Door had to be drilled for cable and hole for top fixing screw enlarged.
Hole for outside handle boss had to be enlarged to accommodate split pin.
Extension cable had to be used which made it difficult to fit batteries and fit battery cover.
Very pleased with result after teaching myself to program the lock.
Only one gripe is that to engage all the locking mechanism on my UPVC door is that I must operate the keypad and then lift the handle to engage the locks.
Would recommend purchase of this lock and would buy again.
I’m not totally incompetent but fitting was tricky. I had to drill a big hole in the door and the sizing wasn’t obvious. Then the spindle was too short but customer service was ace and posted me one for free.
Even with everything in place, threading the cable and locating the screws took many attempt.
Once installed, setup was easy although connetlction with Google assistant requires you to add ‘Sciener’ which was not clear. All set up wolitu fingerprints and voice unlock now. Amazing set of options in the app.
Would recommend. So far. Let’s see how the batter lasts.
Having bought two of these locks because the Yale ‘Smart’ locks we’d originally bought didn’t work (well they might have, but the app never allowed us to find out) we decided we needed the functionality of a keypad as well as fobs. After spending hours trying to get the Yale lock to speak to the app, we gave up and ordered these. The SIMPLED locks just worked straight away with no need for swearing, or crossing of fingers. One went on a new aluminium door and was a breeze to fit. It was up and running in 30 minutes. The other was for a 1980s UPVC door which was much thicker and required a new hole and a longer spindle (which I had flagged up when ordering but assured that this wouldn’t be a problem). This fitting proved to be much more of a challenge and although the lock is now on and working, its not straight. But its the back door and I don’t yet have the mental fortitude to remove and realign. So if you have an old thick UPVC door, think about having it fitted professionally. And do insist that they send you the correct length of spindle. It took several days for this bit to arrive, by which time I’d forgotten the fitting procedure having had the other lock fitted and working for almost a week. You can only get hold of SIMPLED by WhatsApp which I don’t have so you either have to install it or find someone else to get a message to them. The app is excellent and very easy to use. Yale will probably swallow up SIMPLED just to get their tech. We’ll see.
This is a smart lock packed with a host of features that in my opinion is far better than the conexsis smart lock. you get a key pad, finger print reader, a sticker and fobs. you can set up codes with expiry dates, in fact you can do everything you expect to be able to do. Add the bridge and you have everything as it then works with Alexa. In fairness the lock does require some DIY skills to install however the instructions are excellent. I hit a glitch when installing the WIFI bridge so had to contact support using WhatsApp. I got a response back pretty quick and problem fixed. It looks good, it works really well and i have to say the finger print reader works far better than i expected. Definitely worth the money
Bought the lock in Feb 22 and had it now for nearly a year. Easy to install and set up and within an hr all working fine. Brilliant to give individual codes to kids, dog walker, and liberating to not have keys with you when out.
It’s worked effortlessly during this time until this week when the outside handle stuck and locked in the down position. So effectively locked out. Luckily I’d left a set of keys for the back door in a key safe at front of house so was able to access my house and strip the lock off to find an internal piece had snapped and jammed the handle. The Simple guys were great, handling my call to them brilliantly and despatching a new outside handle part free same day to which I received Sat Morning and within 25 mins was installed and working again.
Brilliant customer service, brilliant lock and would recommend to buy. Just make sure you have another way of accessing the house just in case and don’t throw your old door handles away in case you need to secure your door as I did for 24hrs waiting for replacement part.
Best smart lock out there and my blip has not put me off it.
Some of the instructions aren’t perfect, but with a combination of investigation, video guides and using the written guidance I got there in the end and it wasn’t too bad.
It’s really nicely packaged which reenforced the premium brand feel to it.
It feels great quality and it’s brilliant you can open it in so many different ways. Finger print is generally good, sometimes if you don’t hold it still and dead centre it rejects it.
It’s super simple to set up, no issues there.
About 8 months ago I bought a Smartlock which is near identical visually and functionality to this lock and paid exactly double the price this is retailed at, The company I bought from is based in Europe whereas Simpled is London based. I’ve not contacted Simpled for any support as I haven’t needed to as I’m familiar with installation and setting up. Of course there are some minor differences given the price difference but on initial glance you would be hard pressed to spot them. Simpled even supply the 4 AA batteries – and not cheapo ones – branded Duracell’s- nice touch. If you are a handy DIYer then fitting the lock and setting up will be reasonably easy, but if you are nervous at drilling holes in your door, cant identify the type of multipoint lock you have or indeed the type of lock – then perhaps you should consider having someone install it for you. If you want to be able to remotely unlock this lock from anywhere in the world from your phone you do need another piece of kit which is about 50 and it needs WiFi for this. Good instruction book included though. I found fitting it a rather enjoyable experience – and its so much better than having a key operated lock, however, if you paid someone to fit it for you I suspect all in its not going to cost the earth. Looks good, feels well made. You can also get a small key fob – similar to the one many cars have and a press of the button will unlock it from quite a few yards away – the lock auto locks again after 5 seconds – but you can adjust that timing if you wish – so walk in and never have to keep locking the door with keys to prevent anyone else walking in after you – to get out again no unlocking needed, no keys, just press the handle down to open. This Simpled lock I bought because it does everything I want and half the price of the one i have on the front door – this is going on my back door. Its absolute genius. and 2 year guarantee.
This is a fantastic lock easy to install and setup,I would without hesitation recommend this to others. The customer service through WhatsApp has been second to none, thanking Sara and Shaden for their support in answer all my questions and the one issue I had with a faulty hub, this sort of service is what others should look upto.
Great support, easy chat system over Whatsapp. I had a millions of questions to ask not being sure if the product would fit my door but tech support was awesome. The product looks smart and has many different features that I probably would have expected to pay more for.
I installed the lock on a uPVC back door with no issues. The installation is straightforward as long as you follow the clear instructions. The amount of options for entry is amazing, I use the fingerprint sensor for sheer convenience and hand out time limited PIN numbers to visitors. The hub is a worthwhile additional purchase for remote monitoring. I chose this lock after a lot of research and found the features of the Simpled lock far better than rivals. Highly recommended.
Am yet to install the product, but am so far extremely impressed by the responsiveness of the support team. Sara has been amazing by both email and whatsapp chat. Informative, patient, and knowledgeable; in spite of my millions of questions. Having searched high and low for a smart lock that will fit the bill and is weatherproof, I have finally found a product that seems to fit the bill. I look forward to install and using this product, and if my experience so far is anything to go by, I think it will work wonderfully!
Took a little while to get used to door locking behind me immediately but figured out delay feature. Batteries that came with the lock ran flat after 2 days so make sure you don’t use those batteries but replacements working well.
Generally pleased with the produc
So far happy with the lock. Tech support is excellent. Only time will tell about its durability.
Ron Bake
It looks great. It works well. It’s a bit fiddly to put together but there’s a great video showing how to fit it.
bought this after i wasted my money buying a kwikset, do not buy kwikset ad you can not use app in UK.
so bought from simpled and worked straight out of box minimal fuss , can set users and codes up so easy , fibs phones fingerprints all so easy – highly recommend. oh and asked tech support for help via whats app and answered right away superb product i am ordering another one
At first I didn’t think this would fit my door. I ended up drilling two holes, one for the securing screw and one for the cable. Fitted great with no issues! Finger print reader is fantastic, just angle your finger slightly differently each time and mine has worked 100% of the time.
Customer support on WhatsApp were brilliant, very patient and very helpful. I did need to order the backing plates to cover half a small hole left from the previous lock but that’s not a problem. They are working on it being compatible with Apple HomeKit so when that happens I’ll be ordering the wifi bridge. Definitely worth the money and fantastic features. I love it!!
Good quality British product, easy to install – great intuitive free App.
Even managed to install it to standard Upvc door with offset spindle by making a few simple modifications to the existing multipoint locking system.
Good online support, good product, well pleased.
This lock is perfect for uPvc doors. I had looked for a solution for ages & this is it!
Paired with the hub I can remotely unlock the house. It’s always locked by default which is a great feature.
Customer service was second to none also.
Available on WhatsApp which works well.
Simpled Customers service excellent, site easy to use, quick delivery of items purchased, the item I bought was not what i thought it was & I received a full refund no quibble, for my experience I fully recommend this firm, many thanks
William.
Easy to install but could do with longer spindles being supplied. Finger print scanner can be tempremental when unlocking but overall easy to set up
We’ve had this lock for around a month. As a family of 5, with the 2 older kids just starting to have more independence, it is a great solution to leaving a spare door key somewhere or hoping the kids don’t lose it!
I normally buy u Tec devises for electric doors but as they didn’t have the shape needed, tried this brand and have to say it’s just as good.
Something like this needs to work and be easy to get started with and this really
App has great range of features – great product.
Once installed and working it is simply great. So many options to unlock, fingerprints seem reliable and mega convenient. Tag to stick to the phone is discrete, not sure why I’d need it as the phone App is also an unlock but I guess if the phone was flat could prove useful. Great to be able to share temporary keys to guests and reassuring to have a physical over-ride I can hide somewhere safe if all else fails. Negatives? The printed instructions are not fantastically clear and assume a certain work-it-out mentality – that said I did not scan the QR code to see what extra help was available so they can’t be that bad!
My first one had a small issue with the fingerprint, sometimes it wouldn’t recognise me. You’ll see I have still given it 5 stars.
This is because of the customer service, it’s so good.
Essentially a new one was sent out to me, refitted it and it works a dream, never fails on a finger print, all my key rings work to open it, the tag works, I can open it with my phone, I can give guests and builders codes for access.
Can’t fault it in the end.
Installation was easy enough ( although I’m quite handy ) difficult bit was drilling a hole for the cable, easy enough but you’re drilling into your door so it’s a bit scary.
I also have the hub for remote unlock, I havnt used it as yet so I can’t comment but setup was nice and easy.
In my situation i had to inprovize a bit because my multylock sys. Is a bit defferent then usual ..but in its self the smartlock doorlock is grea
Fitting was ok. Instructions are clear. I had to make a new hole through my door for the top handle screw and power cable. This was a little tricky finding where was safe to make the hole. I had to take the catch strip that runs the full length of the door out to be sure. Works well now fitted with fingerprint option being the most convenient. This can be a little hit and miss but usually works on 2nd attempt if first fails. Locking from outside is a little weird but once you understand what is happening it makes sense. You have to shut the door and then unlock it with the sensor, then physically lift the handle to engage the latches and finally wait for the handle to disengage again and the door is then locked. Bit weird but once you have done it a few times it’s straightforward. Product feels really good quality so I don’t mind the slightly expensive price.
Review of Simpled HF-SP Smart Lock, by Sean Nugent
The Simples HF-SP is a silver (or black) lock for uPVC doors. It is battery powered and is configured through a phone app. It can be opened by fingerprint, RFID, numeric code, remote control and by the app (amongst other methods). It also has emergency keys
It seems to be well made with clear instructions but to be honest there is only one complex bit of setup as there is a limited number of parts involved. The complex bit is where an arrow thing points when you put it all together. If it points in the right direction then fine. If its in the wrong direction then the door can not be locked.
We should be clear about what this is and what it isn’t — its not a security lock. A security lock has a 5 or 7 multi-point locking system top, bottom and around the door. This has a catch and a shoot bolt. The shoot bolt is only operated physically (raising the door handles manually) whist the catch is the only bit locked by the electronic mechanism. As I said — its not a security lock and won’t satisfy UK insurance requirements (in my opinion).
What it is, is a flexible lock, used on an unimportant door. In my case I have a porch at the front of my house. The inner door is my security door with a composite door, multi point locking mechanism and magnetic alarm sensors. The outer door wasn’t locked when I was at home and sometimes wasn’t locked when I was away. What I wanted was a lock mechanism that was flexible and allowed me to give codes to Amazon for their delivery drivers, and my postie (who could place a piece of paper in their frame back at the office). Now delivery drivers can open the lock, deposit the goods, close the door (which auto locks) and leave, without breaching my security boundary. Whether any of the delivery people actually make use of the facility remains to be seen.
If the unit has a fault its with the numeric keypad which lights up when you touch near the numbers so a code can be entered. Its very dim and difficult to read in a bright light. My other issue is the contention that it fits on 95% of doors — my experience was very different. I had a 20 year old door on which the lock would not fit. The door needed replacing, so I am not grumpy about that but getting a uPVC door manufacturer to fit a new door with the lock proved challenging. Out of 3 manufactures contacted, one tried a mock up and said they couldn’t do it, one suggested an aluminium door might be a better idea and one umm’d and ahh’d for a bit and then said probably (they did in fact supply me with a new door a few weeks later). All of them firmly pointed out that the lock gave up the multi-point locks that insurance companies want for a single locking point (+ single shoot bolt)
Don’t get me wrong. I like the lock and am buying the wireless gateway add-in to extend the functionality to things like from anywhere in the world, to Alexa and Google Home (at the moment, with just a lock there is no smart home integration, and you have to be within a few metres to do anything with the lock and the app). But I went into this with my eyes open knowing what I was buying and understanding the consequences.
Technical support seems a bit odd, its done by whatsapp. It was however responsive when I used it so no complaints there.
I bought direct through simpled, rather than through Amazon as that the first place I found this one
One of the most important feature in making my mind up in purchasing the lock was for the customer service .. Shaden part of the customer service team was extremely helpful and making sure I chose the right lock.It was simple to install including the bridge and extremely simple to program. So far really pleased with it , it’s well finished with a quality finish and works well .
I have been looking at these locks for sometime. The main issues were to find one suitable for uk multipoint locking mechanism. Finally i went for this one as it ticked all the boxes. There is another similar one here on Amazon but this one seems suit my needs.
Installation was relatively straight forward but certainly require a bit of improvising. The problem I had was
1) supplied spindle was too short
2) the cable connector could be smaller and with a slightly longer cable
3) the screws and its designs that tighten the lock together could be better. I was forever trying to tighten it up but it was free spinning on it own.
Once it is installed everything works fine so far with both fingerprint and codes. With this lock you cant really lock in from the inside and you cant really check if it is locked / engaged from the inside either. As the moment the pull down the handle it allows you to open the door . Though having said that the usual disengaging sound from the multipoint lock can be heard. Not sure how long the battery will last as only had it for a month. Not sure if it is a truly london base company . But so far everything works .
Great company to deal with – very on the ball. Immediate responses and assistance via WhatsApp and brilliant product. Easy to operate with many and varied options to provide enough flexibility for all situations.
After surfing the net for weeks I decide to go with the simpled lock, once it arrived I was impressed with the build quality and robustness of the handles, I have read many review’s where people question the security of it because you will have to remove the lock barrel but in my opinion the lock handles so robust it would take a lot of effort and noise to remove .or break these handles off the door which I’m sure would alert people in the area.
Fitting was fairly Straight forward but as I did not want to drill and extra hole above the original handle size it took me a little bit more time to slot the original hole in the door mechanism so that I could fit the bolt and the wire through this hole But being a fairly competent DIYer this was not too difficult.
Once installed the setting up using the app was very straight forward for finger print cards and pass code.
It has only been installed for a week so for but has performed as it should so far, making leaving and entering the house so much easier, Especially when you have a keyless entry car and you have to start fumbling about for the keys in your pocket or handbag in the wife’s case to find the key to enter the house once you’re out of your car.
I fully understand that that people may have their reservations about walking away from the door without physically locking it but I have mine set at five seconds so I can check it has actually locked before I walk away and I am also going to upgrade to the bridge So that I get notifications when anyone tries to use the entry keypad or fingerprint.
All in all I am very impressed with this lock and it does what I wanted, but if I have any suggestions to the manufacturer I would say it would be good to have a way to lock the inside handle as I have young grandchildren that could exit the house at any time without me knowing.
For anyone who has to lift the handle to deadlock upvc door this is great.
I have a porch door that we need to be able to open remotely to allow Delivery drivers etc. to leave packages safely, unfortunatly a lot of drivers dont lift the handle when clossing the door and on my old smart lock it would prevented me from re locking the door. On the Simpled Smart Door Lock, although you still need to lift the handle to deadlock the door, the handle will still disengage itself preventing it from being re opened even if the handle hasnt been lifted.
The fitting was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be but that was due to my existing door locking mechanism.
Although early days this lock looks and work very well.
Saw this lock couple months ago a even though is a bit more expensive than others is worth the price, very stylish, UK customer service, whatsapp help within hours.
Fingerprint, phone tag, fob option. Way more than others. Love love love
super fast delivery. i had been contemplating getting a smart lock, and i took the plunge on amazon prime deal day at 20% off. Got the smart lock installed by one of the locksmiths suggested by the amazing customer service team who are available on whatsapp to help you every step of the way. love my black smart lock and that i don’t need to take along keys anymore. can happily go on holiday and give the code to the neighbours to check upon if and when.
i reckon it can be installed if you are a DIY expert, i didn’t want to take the chance, so i got it installed.
it looks slick, much better than a yale smart lock. its thin and it looks great.
did i mention how great the customer service guys are? they make u trust in them that IF anything happens, they’re there.
they’re also a london based company which I’m happy to support.
go for it, don’t contemplate
Having used a similar product whilst on holiday I thought I’d install similar in my own home. I found the Simpled handle on Amazon and decided to buy based on the good reviews.
I am so happy with the quality and they way it works and how easy it is to use.
Simpled Chrome Doorlock Review
08 June 2022
This lock bas been installed now for around 8 weeks, during that time it has had its problems and I have needed to speak to support on their whatsapp chat. Here is my honest review of the Simpled Smartlock.
Firstly, as you might expect, the installation.
After researching this type of lock for 2 weeks I had made up my mind to go with Simpled, reviews seemed to point to good aftersales support which is important to me. I spoke via whatsapp the Simpled about the lock and if it would work on my composite door and they asked me to send some photos via whatsapp which I did. They stated that it would 99% work but may nned some modifications to the door. ( see photos )
I ordered and it arrived promptly, unboxed and read the instructions and started to fit it.
Im quite DIY orientated so nothing seemed too daunting to me, other than drilling a 25mm hole in my door!! after some measuring, trying the handle to make sure it would fully function, I drilled the hole, actually a lot easier than I thought and luckily?? it didnt hit the existing lock mechanism ( its very close ). ( see photos )
The handle fitted fine and the instructions are actually clear, the fiddly bit is getting the outside wire through the new hole to the inside of the lock.
Screwed it all up and went to put the batteries in, now it becomes clear why you need that 25mm hole, you have to push the slack back into the 25mm hole, if you dont then the batteries will foul on the wire and you cannot get the final cover on. Be warned!
Now the lock was fitted, batteries in and you can hear it working, theres some beeps and a voice. Grabbed the phone, added the app and setup my account, and added the lock,VERY easy.
Proceeded to add my thumb print, I did it 4 times, Terry 1 to 4 as the naming. Pressed it a few times, it unlocked then locked again after 5 seconds, all good, or so I thought 😉 . I then added one of the ic cards, you ONLY get 3, bit tight in my opinion, 4 would have been much better for a family. So, there it was fully fitted and working in under an hour…. Then the wife came home, added her thumb print same as mine, Elaine 1 to 4, all worked great, then I locked her out for a laugh, she pressed the sensor, error, after 4 attempts the alarm sounded on the lock which meant I had to open the door and use the phone app to reset it. How annoying.
We readded her thumb but this time 8 times, Elaine 1 to 8, same issue, I thought it might have been her handcream so got her to wash her thumb and try again, it sometimes worked but it was 50 / 50 which just isnt good enough, so back on whatsapp I went, this is where a company can fail miserably or succeed.
Simpled support is great, you can talk to someone, an actual human, they know their product so can answer without the ” Ill get back to you ” stuff. I was pleased, after some to and froing they said they would send me a new handle…. to be continued.
While waiting on the new handle I installed the Wireless Gateway, the bit that allows you to remote unlock and lock the door plus some more monitoring, alas this is where this product drops the ball, its slow as a snail when used, my signal according to the app is WEAK, I have an Eero Mesh network at home and a ring doorbell next to the lock so WiFi is not an issue, this leaves the Bluetooth connection to the lock from the Gateway, I have tried moving the gateway closer to the lock (see photos ) and various other locations in the porch and the best I can get is medium strength, I even taped the gateway to the lock and that was medium so there is a serious issue with it, again in my opinion. It can take upto 1 minute to remote unlock so not really acceptable, some notifications that the lock has been unlocked can also take ages to come through even though I was expecting near realtime notifications.
Anyway, we move along and the new front handle arrives to be fitted, I was busy so couldnt do it for a few days and when I got around to it dismantled it all, fitted it, bolted it all up and then noticed the connections were not compatable, gutted dont quite cover it. ( see photos )
Put the original one back and went onto whatsapp to explain, they was fine about it and sent a complete new lock this time, this had the right connection so I only used the front handle, fingerprint reading is much better on this one, the handle firmware is older than the one we had problems with so maybe something was added in that messed it up, who knows.
After having it working now for some time I am happy to say that I am well pleased with the lock, very strong and well made, support is great. I would have no problem reccomending this lock.
Cons: fiddly wire inside the battery compartment, gateway needs some serious upgrading, only 3 IC cards
Pros: Great support, well made product, nice looking. I love it!!
I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the lock and gateway, Terry
So have just upgrade to this lock after my Yale conexis died on me. So far I am seeing so many upgrade to the Yale. It’s so much quieter. Plenty of methods to unlock including the physical key which makes my wife happier. In the box comes with extras that you might need for your door to work with the lock. The app seems very open as well with options to suit your requirements. Like volume changing, setting your own keycode and setting an expiration date on access. So far I am a fan and will update this review should I find any issues.
A great lock with lots of good features. The selection was supported by Simpled when they verified the lock would work with my uPVC door. I stallation too 30 minutes and I did need to drill one additional hole in the door when replacing the original lock. ( uPVC doors have metal frames ) the only other tool required was a cross head screwdriver. The kit comes with a mortice mechanism but I simply replaced the handles and it was straightforward. Setting up the lock was swift
Fingerprint works well, rfid is super and you can even scan your bank card and use that as a entry pass!! The management software running on mobile is easy to use and logical. I also added in the gateway opeion to remote control the door. This was easy to do and simple instructions. Linking in alexa was fun. It works well to immediately lock the door on voice command and to unlock but with the addition of a pin number for security. Throughout the purchase, installation and configuration I was happy to discover real support in just about real time conversations. No hesitation to recommending the support and service is a 10/10 for that.
Great build quality, really happy with the Slim series Smart Lock.
So many options to unlock: Fingerprints, Key fobs, eKeys, Smart Tags, physical key and Bluetooth and NFC (using your mobile) – add a Gateway and you can’t unlock from anywhere (not sure why, but it’s an option) – above all, it locks itself.
I first ordered an easier to fit VF Smart Cylinder lock. Unfortunately this was not compatible with my door. I messaged Simpled.UK and after a few messages, decided to go for the Slim series instead.
I had an issue with the first Slim series Smart Lock sent out, which even Simpled.UK never heard before.
I contacted them on Bank Holiday Monday and within a few hours, a replacement lock was sent out on a next day delivery. How many firms would have done that or even replied back on a Bank Holiday?
Shaden from Simpled.UK was brilliant at every stage and always, and I mean always replied back within few mins, even on the Bank Holiday.
Definitely recommend Simpled.UK as a company and also for such a good quality lock with so many options.
Excellent lock….ease of use…and ease of setup…..good fingerprint option…app control, fob and card…plus keypad…..downside of latter difficult to view in sunlight…however with fingerprint option not problomatic… satisfied.
Bought this to replace my broken Yale Conexis. I have to say it’s in a different league in terms of design and functionality. It’s basically what the Yale should have been like. Plus the customer service via WhatsApp was brilliant and they even helped answer my installation queries on a bank holiday.
Looks good, works so far well. Thanks to the seller.
Great bit of kit well made works well. Best keyless handle under 200
This a smart lock which will replace the locks fitted to the type of latching secure eurolock doors. My old eurolock came out by undoing 3 screws. The Simpled lock took about 20 minutes to fit. Read the instructions and follow them, it’s worthwhile. Fitting the gasket needs to be done prescisely, start at the top align accurately and push each button in. There are a raft of ways to unlock the door. To use Alexa or Google you need the WiFi bridge, but then you can even open it without being there. Imagine leaving a note on the door with your phone number and telling the delivery driver to open the door and leave it in the hall!
Not that easy to install but still I managed to install to my front door upvc multipoint lock mechanism, works great and I am very satisfied with this product!!!
i m very happy with this lock is amazing and the support is there all the time like 24 7 with you by this lock you will not regret trust me the amount off stuff you can do is amazing you can even open the door with your bank card
It was very easy to install once I understand what to do hint utube. The product is very good well made my son is very happy due to using his apple watch to get in and out of the house. I would love to see it on my Fitbit watcher the product deserve all the 5 star rating that I’ve given it well make product. The customer support and service on whatsapp was very good I lost bits that was sent to me they were very helpful and sent out bits no problem and it came the next day 5 star as well thanks you i judge a company by the support they give thanks again.
Easy to install and works great so far. The batteries included were poor quality and needed replacing so I recommend you include better batteries. The voice is an annoying American accent, for a UK based company I’m disappointed you didn’t include and English accent. Also the multi-point lock doesn’t seem to engage from the outside unless you unlock the door first. Despite the flaws still happy with the lock and would recommend.
Fitted in around 20 minutes with nothing more than a screwdriver. Everything fitted perfectly and no existing holes showing. Comes with 2 key fobs and self adhesive tag for your phone. All work flawlessly, as well as the fingerprint scanner. For what you get, compared to the Yale Connexis L1, this is worth the extra 30. Without question. Already so impressed I’ve brought spare tags for the phone and already have my eye on the WiFi bridge for remote access.
Don’t let the lack of reviews or company details fool you, this IS a well made, affordable device.
This is a really great lock, I’ve owned many different smart locks in the past, and this is my favorite. The app is incredibly easy to use, the fingerprint sensor on the lock is surprisingly good. The lock feels solid, made from high quality materials. Installation was pretty easy, though like some other folks I did run into one issue, but I WhatsApp messaged their support number and got help straight away, which was incredible as I decided to fit the lock on a Friday evening at 9:00pm! It was all fitted and working within an hour (including the time it took for their customer support to advise where I had gone wrong). After living with the lock for a couple of weeks, I have decided to purchase the Wi-Fi bridge to enable remote access. Overall I am very pleased with the lock and would recommend highly.
A nice bit of kit. Quite easy to install, I had to widen one hole to fit the cable through.
TTLock software take a little bit to figure out but it does most of what you want. I am using it for a club access and time limited passcodes for party bookings, members access etc so quiet demanding
Excellent customer service using WhatsApp to resolve any issues.
I liked the idea of not having to find a set of keys to open the house door that has little protection from the weather elements. With the numerous options, including fingerprint recognition and Bluetooth, this appeared the perfect solution for quick access into the house.
The speed of delivery was excellent as is the quality of the product. Well packaged and a solid bit of kit. I needed the support of customer services, via WhatsApp; this was exceptional. I had an initial problem (my error in selecting the correct product) which was instantly resolved.
The product itself provides perfect flexibility using various means to unlock the door. I like the fact that this can be given temporarily Ie for workmen, or can unlock the door quickly when it’s raining. One other handy feature is the timing mechanism that locks the door automatically after a preset time. You never have to worry that you have forgotten to lock the door.
Very pleased with this product and Simpled.
Very easy instructions to follow great bit of kit great customer care and support via there whattsapp
Ordered the smart lock from Simpled and very happy with my purchase, had looked at another similar lock but at half the price this was what I went for.
The lock was relatively easy to install, but be aware if fitting to a upvc door you will probably have to drill a hole for the cable to connect to the inside handle , sounds harder than it was and the lock went in quickly once this was done.
Really easy to connect and code the fob/stickers and set up a password which again was relatively straight forward
This is an excellent product , well made and very competitively priced , well worth the investme
Their customer service is TOP-NOTCH! Unbelievably, fast, responsive and truly caring. They guided me step by step over the Whatsapp number on their website.
I used to have another so-called smart lock before but it wasn’t really smart. I had many issues with them. My nightmare was when I had issues, nobody would answer! I never wanted to buy locks again but now I’m extremely happy with my choice!
I have an Airbnb flat and have always seen guests losing my keys, and I worry every time if they copied a spare key or not!? I enjoy it now that I don’t share physical keys anymore.
Sometimes my guests had delayed because of their flight or all those nonsense reasons, and I could no longer be on-site when they arrived. Now I share a code with no headache.
Ohh, speaking of codes!!! If you want to generate passcodes remotely, you want to know wifi gateway is NOT included. It gives you some more access, but I bought it because I wanted to cancel the guest codes without being there.
Overall, wise purchase!
Unfortunately after struggling for way too long i contacted the Simpled customer service via WhatsApp. They responded very quickly and the following day i received a replacement, which works a dream. Their fast action and quick resolution is exactly what customer service should be, therefore despite the set back these deserve the full five stars. The product itself looks and feels great, early days yet but so far very happy. Easy to setup too, would definitely recommend.
