My wife and I enjoy the heat on cool coastal mornings or just in the evening to wind down from the day. This is just amazing firepit for the cost, and is super portable.
Smokeless is true only when the pellets are at full combustion. Starting out or when adding more fuel, there will be moments of smoke during partial inefficient combustion. Best way to keep smoke to a minimum is to add two handfuls of pellets every 15 min to keep the fire going while there is enough heat from the current fire to get those pellets lit. If you add a bunch of pellets when the fire is dying down then you’ll get a ton of smoke.
We also put the firepit on an old pizza stone to protect our patio deck.
I really enjoy this product. I will tell you this; whatever this is on top of, it WILL burn or get scorched. Found out this hard way.
Best thing to do is buy some fire bricks to make it more elevated to reduce the amount of heat transfer from whatever material is under it.
Initial fill of pallets will give you a good 30-45 mins of intense heat. Keep it at a steady flame is a bit tricky. I have not really mastered the perfect amount to add to keep the flame going. I found that a 40lb bag of pellets lasted about 4-5 hours of use.
Cleaning is super easy! Dump and store in the bag that came with it, which is the best thing! super portable
Absolutely LOVE ours!! Paint did start to peel on a few places after a few months but no biggie. Black stove paint fixed that. To be expected for a $50 firepit. Be sure to look up the 12″ grate and a coffee pot to go with it! You’ll be glad you did!
Burns the evercheap heating pellets that are about $6 for 40# bag. Do yourself a favor and sift out some of the dust if you go that route. It’ll burn much better for you!
No dislikes!! Amazing for the price point! Virtually smokeless!! Great to go bag and stacks inside for smaller storage!
Worked great and low smoke as described once it is fully lit and burning. Instructions say not to use any type of liquid propellant but the pellets are difficult to get going without some type of propellant or torch to light.
Just as advertised. Easy storage case. Easy to light, little to no smoke. Small enough to take with. Easy to clean (really nothing left to clean but some ashes). Gonna get a lot of use out of this!!!
Perfect size for taking on our camping trips or using on the back patio! Love it!!!
Trs bien fait et solide par son ingnierie
Moi je l’utilise avec du bois et granules
We really like it! would like to be able to add more pellets all at once but hey that’s a really small thing so no worries it’s a great produc
Works great. Small but it’s exactly what I was looking for. Perfect for a quick little fire on the patio or s’mores when you dont wanna fire up the big firepit in the yard. I have the small and medium version and love them both. Lightweight and portable also.
The bag is not even close to waterproof so be warned. Other than that it does what it should as expected and throws heat for sure. Cute for camping or other small or mobile uses. I like it and would recommend.
We have the medium size. Great for 5-6 people to sit around and roast marshmallows.
Still love this pit. Medium size is nice, still think a large size would be better. I have several stacks of small splits to feed the fire. Ideal for impromptu smores with the kids or having a cup of coffee early in the morning as I let my smoker get up to temp. I always dump the ashes and store in the garage if rain is in the forecast. Moisture mixed with ash is certain to degrade a pit faster.
ORIGINAL
I got the medium size in stainless steel. I love that this is quick set up and easy to stow away.
I’ve used pellets and firewood, and I definitely prefer firewood. Much easier to manage, IMO, but I like that I can use pellets, too.
The design on this is so good for impromptu fires and it burns everything down to nothing. After it cools, I clean up with a blower and pack it back in its bag. I use less wood because it’s efficient and while I’d like to have a bigger one than the medium size, it serves its purpose nicely. Cut some firewood down in length, arrange it, light it with one of those BBQ tumbleweeds and it’s blazing in no time.
I would recommend this fire pit but I would not go smaller than the medium size.
I was looking for something small and simple for those campsites with no fire rings. Just something to make a quick campfire that would take up minimal storage space. This thing is PERFECT. Heavy duty construction, super simple to setup, use, and put away. It is a GREAT little ring for the money.
Once you get the pellets going no smoke and cool how the flames come out. Kinda big for travel but comes with a carry bag. We use the bag as a cover.
Super easy to setup. Nice value for the money compared to other units i looked at locally. I use pellets for fuel, about 2″ which last about 30 minutes. I placed on my back patio so I placed a fireproof pad under it to protect the cement pad. Great for just having a fire at night or roasting marshmallows with the kids. I have not used the carry bag but it looks fine so I expect no issues. I have only used about 5 timed so far, no issues.
We had 3 fire pits running at a caravan rally, this one produced noticeably less smoke than the others.
I noticed the kids gravitated to this one to toast marshmallows, I can only assume they noticed the reduced smoke.
Like most firepits it will scorch the grass unless you devise something to prevent this.
It comes with a very useful carry bag to keep it in (and keep other things clean)
All things said I am glad I bought it and intend to use it a lot.
p.s. I have been using scrap timber not the recommended wood pellets with no problems.
I like the size and it includes a great storage bag. I bought a 40lb bag of pellets for $6 @TSC and you will need fire starters. It is smokeless.
I cant rate this fire pit highly enough. Can be used with ordinary wood chopped to a suitable size.
1. We have a ban on carring wood between countries. Not an issue with this as it uses wood pellets.
2. No smoke and keeps the bugs away. When fire goes to embers, add pellets, a little isopropyl alcohol (buy at hardware store 1/2 gallon), match and you are ready to go. DO NOT use gasoline, charcoal starter or any fuel that is more flammabe than alcohol. It will flash on you.
3. Smell is great, more pleasant than log fire. Gives off a fair amount of heat, but less than log fire (safer).
4. Great for camping, easy to start, easy to store, and pellets are easy to store. Much safer than camp fire with logs. No poking fire and adding wood loggs over flame. When we are done I put a 12″ aluminum pan cover over the top, snuffs the embers out.
5. We pay about $3-5 dollars for wood logs & get about 4-5 2′ pieces. I buy a 50 lb bag of wood stove pellets for $5. It lasts about 5 weekends.
6. Not as big or long lasting as logs, but I can deal with that based on all the positives.
Easy to set up, come with a carrying case, perfect size for small outdoor patio. Absolutely love mine.
Secondly, I also have a solo stove (in a larger size), which I now regret purchasing. This is a much better value.
I just got back from a camping trip with this, the nesting was a great space saver. We used wood chunks (not pellets. This Fire Pit worked like a charm with regards to putting off less smoke. We also seemed to use much less wood to get perfect coals for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. My wife used the ledge to place a graham cracker with chocolate on it to melt the chocolate.
Overall, I highly recommend this as a small camping fire pit. I would buy it again, and I’d recommend it to a friend.
We have an rv and love to camp as much as possible. We had a regular fire pit but I realized we were spending a lot of money on firewood. I opted to try this out as it’s less smokey and I liked the idea of wood pellets instead of firewood. So far we are really impressed and enjoying our new fire pit, I also really like using the wood pellets. I just wish they sold the bbq grate separately but I guess I can buy a generic one.
It does snuff out fire and smoke a bit when adding more pellets. Might just be operator error. Nice fire when burning though. Definitely worth the price
his fire pit is excellent for small spaces. use with pellets or with wood, it’s durable, and makes a great fire.
A million Time amazing. Easy beautiful fire in no time.
Works good with fire logs then pellets…i find it burns fast thou. Happy
Small but highly efficient. Was just trying it out based on the alternative items that were so much more expensive. Wont be disappointed.
love how easy is to assemble and can take it with us anywhere. Primary use for bugs’ repellent wood easy to start and don’t take as long to cool down, if need be, to take apart and move to other sites. Very well worth the money.
I like everything about this fire pit. It has been moke free, easy to use, and portable.
Amazing little fire pit. Super portable and great for camping or just hanging out in the backyard! great buy!
Perfect size for less than 4 people. Burns big fire. No smoke. Have to go to Rona or home Depot to buy hardwood pallet. big bag of wood pallet is cheap and burns fast.
Not truly smokless but pretty good over all. Easy to place a rack on top for cooking. Can move if necessary when lit. Handles stay cool to the touch.
Preis Leistung ist ok, knnte noch ein bisschen grer sein dann wre es perfekt.
Schale funktioniert – deutlich geringere Rauchentwicklung.
Very easy to assemble. We used lighter fluid to get it started burned long enough to make s’mores. Doesn’t burn for long before it needs to be refilled. Had a lot of ash mess when done.
As other people said, it burns good initially for around 30 minutes if you use only pellets. When fire starts to dwindle after that point, if you add too much pellets, say more than 2 handful, it can smoke thick white cloud. However, in 3-4 minutes, hot ember will get fire reignited and clears the smoke almost instantly.
Our better experience is that to add some hard wood chunks/blocks to burn with the pellets. You then don’t have to closely monitor the fire all the time since it now lasts much longer without having to add pellets every a few minutes.
We use electric chainsaw to cut the normal fire logs shorter to fit the height of the burn bowl. Additional 2-3 normal hardwood logs+ 25 lbs pellets will last hours till past midnight. The next morning, you can still see ember smodering if leave it overnight (cover the top opening and place firepit at safe area of cause)
We like this fire pit overall. One heck of new tool to smoke away mosquitoes is that now you can easily do that just by adding some more pellets and let it smoke!
We used this for the the first time last night and it worked well. Its easy to put together and looks great. It is mostly smokeless and is easy to clean up and pack away after use. It puts out alot of heat and makes a nice fire. Would recommend.
This turned out to be just as promised. I can use it on my deck but did add an insulated pad just in case. We were roasting weenies and making smores. It’s very convenient and produces a decent fire. Great purchase and well priced. Highly recommend!
Could not be easier! We placed it atop our terra cotta homemade tandoori for safety but wee probably overly cautious. Great flame, lasted long enough but not too long, easy cleanup.
Full flames to ashes in about an 1.5hrs when using pellets from Canadian Tire. Enough time to toast marshmallows, send the kids off to bed and make sure the fire is out. No unexpected pops that can burn your furniture or clothing like you get from real firewood. A little bite of charcoal fire starter fluid to help get it started and away you go. Flames look like it’s coming from a gas fireplace. Packs up nicely. Base fits neatly into the pit.
Looking forward to trying some ‘real’ firewood to see how long it burns for.
eally well made designed and useful my new favorite camping tool lots of warmth and light. we use it with small branches a lot too works grea
This works good and is smokeless unless you add too many pellets at once and lose the flame then it’s very smoky, you have to feed a small amount of pellets at a time as per instructions.
Very straight forward on how to use. I got the small one. Took me 2 times to perfect the amount of wood pellets to put in. Can fill it over the max fill line a little bit. Does not stay hot on the outside for too long. Great little portable fire pit. Not exactly smokeless but is significantly reduced smoke. Would reccomend and buy again.
A bit rough. Welds are small. I’d be careful about cutting a finger. But it looks good.
Made really well and works great with pellets. Liked so well that I also ordered the small version for the camping trailer.
Awesome for the money but is smaller than expected even knowing the measurements. Paint will peel and it’s mild steel so I can rust if you don’t take care of it. 100% smokeless
No more expensive firewood at campgrounds. And no more foraging for wood. This is easy and creates good warmth. And the price was really great. One of my best camping buys.
I learned rather quickly to use pine pellets usually used in animal bedding. It burns fairly clean and hot. For set up I pour about 4″ of pellets in the pit. A little bit of lighter fluid to get it going and then light with a match. For good measure I stir the pellets after a little while, but you really don’t have to. If for some reason the wind burns it out, just drop a match in the smoldering pellets. I will light right off again due to the flammable wood gasses. Leaves very little ash in the bottom tray once everything has burned up. I left it smoldering one night and came back to find nothing in the pit and very little ash in the tray. This thing is worth the money.
Works great, small enough to toss into them truck for campouts
This thing is lightweight, easy to transport with the included carry bag (much better with handles than a shoulder strap like the others that will have the stove flailing all over) and burns smoke-free hot. I use wood pellets with charcoal lighter fluid to light it up and get it going. If you want to use logs, I would suggest starting with pellets, then when it is roaring, slowly add the wood…You Do NOT want to choke this thing down, or any smokeless pit for that matter, because it will smoke like crazy. HOWEVER, if you stay ahead of the game with fuel, then you will enjoy a smoke-free fire. Awesome for tailgates.
This fire pit is just about the same size and functionality as others sold here. I bought the stainless option because there were so many complaints about the painted steel version — the price for the InnoStage in SS was reasonable (has gone up since).
As with the similar sized units from various manufactures, the base is sized to fit into the main burn chamber in terms of both diameter and height. When in use, I think the viewing angle and heat distribution would be much better if the unit set a little bit lower. If the base height was reduced by two inches I think all would be good. Doing so would provide an additional benefit in that one could transport the unit with a 2-inch layer of pellets in the normal burn chamber (would be to the “fill slots”) and the base could still nest into the top of the chamber.
I like to have a short fire in the morning to sit by and have some coffee. If I spread about 1/2 gallon (a bit over 2#) of pellets around the sides and build a small twig/stick fire in the middle it seems about right (the twig fire is easy to start and as it burns, the pellets will ignite).
Also, the grill from my Weber “Smoky Joe” rests nicely on top of the unit and I can place a pot of water there to boil water for the coffee!
Pros:
– Super easy set up and portability
– Radiates a ton more heat when using pellets compared to wood. We’ve used both – wood you have to be careful with because the opening is only about a foot wide, which requires some chopping & cutting to get it to fit. We found using pellets radiates the heat outwards (to warm everyone sitting around it) rather than radiating heat upwards with the wood.
– Initially I was concerned about the price of pellets, but I can find a 40lb bag of pine pellets at Home Depot for about the same price as a bundle of fire wood. I consistently get a couple 4 hour long sessions from one bag so while pellets are not available everywhere (inconvenient and requires some pre-planning), it ends up being cheaper.
– When using pellets, it is safe to place under our 10 ft awning. Wood makes a more vertical heat trajectory so I’d be careful putting it under anything, but with the pellets, you can’t really feel the heat higher than 6 or 7 feet. You can also mix pellets with small kindling if you have small tree debris you’d like to burn up
– Cost for this and a fire mat is WAY cheaper than other portable fire pit options
Cons:
– Someone HAS to keep feeding it about 1/2 cup of pellets every 5 minutes. It becomes easy to get in the groove of feeding it, but if you have to leave it alone for very long, it can start to smolder
– When it starts to smolder or go out, it creates a TON of smoke. BUT, once it gets going again, it sucks most of the smoke back in (at least the smoke under our awning)
– Simple fire starters work well at the beginning, but after a couple hours the coals are so hot that the heat blows out the fire starter. At these points it is possible to eventually bring it back to life, but takes a lot of coaxing. Instead we’ve been using a blow torch to reignite new pellets on top.
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It’s way way cheaper than a solo stove, can actually be used under my awning, and creates a ton of heat. My friends with solo stoves have even been won over 😉
We bought the first one for home outside, then decided we needed a smaller one to fit in the camper. We just love the way they work. Fast starting and wonderful flame. As a note, the pellets need to be added frequently to keep the flame working. I have found I grab a handful and toss them in every now and then.
Bought it in black, and I love it. Watching the flames coming out the top holes was mesmerizing. The glow of the hot coals coming through the name cut out was beautiful. After the unit was out and cooled I dumped the ashes in the garden. I don’t see anything where I dumped them last night in the dark. Everything burned up to almost nothing. I put a cheap $6 dollar pizza pan under it, and it was clean after I disassembled the stove. I am very happy with it.
I bought this because it was one of the most affordable options for a “smoke free” fire pit and i was also looking for something I could use with wood pellets. Win win situation here. Honest opinions here are that it works great with wood pellets, makes a pretty fire, the large flames don’t last too long but it throws off good heat for a while. Just add more pellets and the flames will return. Haven’t used with wood logs. I didn’t have lighter fluid so I have been using hand sanitizer to get the pellets lit, works great. Definitely not smoke free. There’s quite a bit of smoke when first lighting but it does die down after it gets nice and hot. Once you add more pellets back in it will smoke again until the pellets fully light up. Not sure how long this pit will last as it seems to start rusting pretty fast. But I keep it stored in the included storage bag when not in use so I think it’ll treat me good for a while. Oh and the top and bottom nest together and store nicely in the bag I just mentioned.
This fire pit is brilliant, I got this for 35.00 when others that are very similar are going for 70.00. The quality is brilliant and after several fire’s it still holds up and looks like new. Just make sure you empty it after use and pack it away. The secondary burn looks amazing once it gets going. It’s not truly smoke free, although you can’t see it you still smell smokey at the end of the night.
Listen… follow the instructions. Place roughly 2 inches of hardwood pellets in the unit, add 3 or 4 fire starters of your choice on top, and after a 15 minute build-up, you’ll be enjoying a warm, 1 to 2 foot, virtually smokeless fire. Expect to get about 30 minutes of rolling hot flames. Once those subside, you’ll get about another 15 minutes of enjoyment while it dies down. All in all, you’ll get a nice 60 minutes to wind down at the end of day – which is exactly what we wanted.
If you’re looking for an all night Bonfire experience, this is not the product for you. If you’re planning on using this often and don’t have hours of free time to unwind, then I would recommend this product.
Bonus – the flames are mesmerizing once the dual chamber combustion kicks in – absolutely beautiful. Also, I don’t think you’ll find a more competitively priced smokeless fire-pit on Amazon or anywhere else. I couldn’t.
Tip – pay the extra money for the stainless steel version. It’s worth it from a longevity and aesthetics perspective.
This is to burn wood pellets..it may work on other combustible products but it is smoke and spark free with wood pellets. You can buy wood pellets at your local feed store because they are the same pellets that sop up mud in livestock pens and those pellets are cheaper than the bbq ones…much cheaper!
So basically a safe, warm, smokeless, essentially emberless fire with visible flame that my grandkids can cook smores over in a fire zone…(check with your local ordinances) 😉
This stainless steel fire pit works great with wood properly sized and is way less expensive than similarly sized Solo fire pits. I wish the depth of the burn pot another 3-5 inches. I know they is larger model but not in stainless steel.
Really good portable fire pit. I’ve used with pellets and small sticks. It’s really easy to light and everyone I went camping with loved it. The downside is it is small so burning cord wood is not really feasible but there are sticks and pinecones everywhere so the upside is you don’t have to bring firewood with you camping. I also love the ability to burn wood pellets and there is virtually no smoke. The stainless steel is almost a must have because regular mild steel oxidizes at a faster rate when heated and with the stainless you will never have to worry about it rusting away.
As A family with a small yard and no good place to build a good pit (plus I wasn’t looking forward to the upkeep) we started looking at these stoves. I simply could not justify the 500-600 dollar units. But a friend recommended this after use on Facebook and I purchased it for Father’s day for my husband/family. We put it to use right away. Every single family member loves it! I love that it is clean, easy to use, store. The kids love the smores. Haha. We all love the family time the most.
I love this medium fore pit. It’s perfect size for my patio. I will say the pellets are not idea. You have to add pellets to it about ever 15 to 30 minutes amd there’s no ideal way to get the pellets start burning. So I went to the hardware store and bought small stick starters and then bought a pack of the smallest hardwood for fire. I them brought it home and cut each piece in half so that it would fit. Mow I have fires that last about an hour. It would burn longer if the you had a way to close off the vents particularly.
Love it… Its small enough that it can be packed up in the campervan and not take alot of space up and big enough to kick out enough heat. I found that I did need to split the wood fairly small until you get the heat really going but if you do it won’t smoke.
Do remember this is designed for wood pellets (not tried them yet) but I found that if you start with kindling then move up to wood 5 to 8cm in diameter (no thicker than the size of your wrist-ish) it will get going well and wont smoke. You could put larger stuff on when it’s up to heat but I didn’t. I used seasoned hard wood that I split with an axe and it was great. Also tried some dry pallet wood and some pine that had been cut recently with good results (I waited till the fire pit had got really hot first). One thing I would suggest is not to stoke/compress the embers down too much as this can restrict airflow through the bottom grate, simply add wood and wait for it to move down by itself.
Also due to the airflow and smokeless design it does get though wood at quite a rate! The upside of this is when you want to end your session just stop feeding it wood and it will die in an hour.
Cleanup was easy as most of the Ash fell though the grate into the bottom section and due to the heat that this thing burns at there was hardly any ash after burning for 5 evenings in a row. Just remember to cover it up if it rains as this is just painted steel. I left mine out overnight and in the rain by accident and have a little rust on the inside, but nothing bad. The outside is still looking good and the paint has survived a week of using it every night.
Overall; great compact fire pit, very smokeless if you use the right wood (and size) and would buy another straight away if I lost this one. The base does get hot enough to burn grass black so make sure you use some bricks or something to insulate it from the floor.
Great little fire pit. Works really well. I wish is actually hooked into the base so it can’t be knocked off. Other than that I wish it had a spark grate for safety.
Although fires in general are illegal where I live oh, you could get away with this fire pit. I thought it would be the same as a real fire, but it really is the same, even the Flames are the same and the heat that comes off of the pit. I love the fact that it portable, easy to clean, feels the same as a real fire pit, and burns itself out at the end completely. It’s honestly the best thing ever that I purchased off of Amazon.
I got this a month ago and finally tried it tonight. I was surprised by how enthusiastic the fans were of the “name brand” (and MUCH more expensive) fire pit, so I decided to give this a try. I’m a convert! This thing is amazing!
I put in the pellets and another Amazon product (little wood and wax fire starter “biscuits” – “nanoo & bee” – they work great!). It fired up with no fuss and soon made a roaring fire with very little smoke.
My only warning – given the size, I thought the flames might be 18 inches high, but when it really got going, it flamed over 4 feet high. I was beginning to regret lighting it in my covered deck!
I didn’t use the full amount, and it only lasted about a half-hour (I didn’t add any more) but what a beautiful fire it made! This will be getting a lot of use this summer season!
There are some of similar size and price, but I picked this one because of the handles… which you wouldn’t use when it’s fully heated, but makes moving it much nicer.
Overall – love it!
EDIT: We started using the bio flame bricks and they work better IMO as no attention is needed for about an hour.
2 – My product came in perfect condition. No dings or dents.
3 – I live just north of Toronto. -1 and no wind for the first burn.
4 – Over all the heat produced is okay but the fire is amazing! Locked down with this in the backyard is a must. S’mores, playing some tunes, drinks, family time. Get those kids off the screens most importantly.
I just use it on my deck, but can certainly see how good it would be for camping. Wish I had this when we had a cottage. Would have been great at the end of the dock.
Otherwise, this thing is great: made of decently hefty stainless steel; using wood pellets it burns smokeless right enough; chucks out the warmth and nice and compact for those with a tiny gardenette like ours. It took about 20 mins to get going and the 5cm deep layer of pellets lasted about an hour on a windless December day. Flames come up maybe a foot higher than the top when it’s at full pelt and the pellets burn really efficiently. The aesthetics aren’t for everyone, it’s clearly been designed by an engineer as it does the job effectively but not everyone will like the hexagonal steel occasional table look. The top bit sits on top of the bottom bit with gravity (it’s heavy enough not to worry about toppling in even a sturdy wind) and it comes with a carry bag – the bottom bit packs neatly into the top bit to make it a compact portable thing. Not that you’ll want to carry it too far as it’s got to be at least 5kg, if not 10.
If you have a small space and need a fire pit, or want a portable one, this will do the trick. Just remember to take some wood pellets with you (though, as others have said, isn’t clear why they only recommend that fuel as it’d easily handle others, possibly for balance reasons I guess).
