Purchased this handle to replace the cheap one fitted with my new composite door. I already had a Ultion security cylinder lock so assumed the Ultion handle would fit the standard thickness door and existing lock. Of course I was wrong. Two hours later and I finally admittedly defeat and called a locksmith. He confirmed the Ultion cylinder was 2-3 mm too long to allow the handle to fit. The only way to fit the handle was to replace the Ultion cylinder with a traditional cylinder. Problem solved and the handle fitted perfectly but this does seem like a basic design flaw with the Ultion cylinder/lock combination. The handle is certainly a solid quality handle, much heavier and more robust than the old one and the deadlock which allows the lock to be activated from inside without the key is reassuring and useful at night. Added bonus is I no longer have to pay for Ultion’s hideously expensive securityi keys.
Bought this handle because I have an ABS Avocet Cylinder lock and wanted a handle with just as much security features. I liked the fact the cylinder on the outside is protected with the enclosed handle guard. I also like the fact I can lock the handle from moving just in case I don’t have my key when letting people out of my property, then when locked use this feature for extra protection when the family sleeps. I did have to saw through the top of the handle fitting (which screw into the handle) as the composite door metal only had CMs space available. But was easy enough and didn’t impact on the security or look of the handle. All in all I’m really happy with my purchase.
Very happy.
Strong handle good quality
I’m not happy with ultion… their prices for the barrel I wanted was 80…
Bought a yale one instead for 35 from amazon
Which was 3 star security, same as ultion level barrel
These door handles are excellent quality and very solid, looks good and doesn’t feel flimsy, love the locking button, comes in handy when in a hurry and can’t find the keys to lock it, just push the button down and it locks the handles, easy swap and installation, just make sure you buy the right size.
This door handle is a very sturdy construction internally compared to the standard handles and has the secondary spindle ‘deadlock’ which adds an additional level of security if the cylinder is defeated. The spindle lock is also great if you’re home and want to lock and unlock the door without a key. The main body has a rounded external profile to prevent mole grip attacks. Internally the handle body is solid metal with only certain parts hollowed out where the different mechanisms sit. The handle it replaced was hollow inside and flimsy and also let cold air through the cylinder hole. There is a cylinder cover on the outside handle that fully encases the euro cylinder so it can’t be gripped and snapped off (make sure your cylinder doesn’t stick out of the outside of the door more than 10mm or the handle won’t fit over it. Not an issue on the internal part of the cylinder if yours sticks out more than 10mm). The handle was supplied with multiple sizes of heavy duty bolts and two sizes of lugs and security spindles to suit either a composite door or a thicker uPVC door. The handle was easy to fit and took less than 10 minutes on a uPVC door. uPVC installation just required the shorter nut lugs (for composite doors) to be unscrewed from the inside of the external handle body and then the longer uPVC lugs to be screwed in and tightened with a spanner. The long bolts then reached through the wider uPVC door to sandwich the two handles together. All I needed to look up was which side to push in the one way security spindle (insert from the outside hole in the door then push on the security spindle washer onto the inside end of the spindle). The handles are expensive but they are very sturdy and secure, look great and deny intruders the common methods of attack employed on standard, weak handles found on a lot of uPVC patio doors.
Brilliant replacement for my broken cheap chrome door handle, this one is heavy, quality and has the special double locking mechanism which is fantastic to temporarily lock whilst you are in the house without having to use a key. Expensive but definitely worth i
