I had a problem with flies and wasps this summer. Country living at it’s best. This has been an amazing find and helps very well. You do get a loud bang when an insect flies into it. The insects are attracted to the light. Excellent purchase.
We have the door open constantly through having a dog so it’s great at night for moths and any other flying creatures. Can hear when it does its job as the crackle is quite loud.

Fruitflies. Start off as little harmless things on the bananas. Then a few days later they are everywhere. Tiny little demons invading your life… This Zaps the little b——ds with a satisfying ZAP! It arrived with one of the bulbs not working. It came with a spare. I changed it. Still didn’t work. Got a refund after a little persuasion… The ZAP! is loud and will upset the cat but worth it to know that another one of the blighters has bit the dust. Trick with fruit flies is to remove anything they can feed on and anywhere that has water – drains, etc. They are a nuisance that can very soon become a bloody nuisance. A bit like some people I know…

I suffer from every bug bite going so bought this for inside use as with doors open in hot weather midgies etc get indoors. So far haven’t caught anything but that tells me there were no bugs inside. The product is good quality and sturdy and no doubts on purchase.

This is a really good item has been in use throughout summer and got rid of all of the flies in our house.. even when the door is open! Comes with a spare tube. Only negative is that it is really loud when it gets a fly and it scares the dogs!

Never needed one of these before. But during last week etc, when it was roasting, I had a ‘Biblical Infestation’ of Midges. They drove me almost insane, trying to land on me, and no matter where I went, they were there. I tried all of the usual remedies, and they were pathetic. This however really does work. The price is exceptionally reasonable for what it is, and, they even include a ‘Spare’ Fluorescent Tube, which I did not know. I was worried it may ‘Buzz’ or be noisy – but it isn’t. You can’t even hear it. FINALLY, I can leave my windows open on a hot day, with no more irritants. PS. If you are infested with Midges, a strong, Industrial sized Fan – removes them also. Yes – a Fan! They lose all flight and become completely disoriented, so much so, they can’t WAIT to get out!

Have it in the kitchen when preparing food, attracts and kills flying bugs. Thinking of getting another one for the front room. But it’s very light to carry from room to room.

A great product. Did just what I wanted. However, as soon as it was switched on my dog went crazy. He was hearing sound from device that I couldn’t. Sadly had to give it away and I’m back to using sticky fly tape!
First 1-2 day nothing, I started to doubt it. Then a week later it was full with like thousands of small midge, wasp, fly, moth, all kind of stuff that is attracted to light. 97% of bugs where so tiny. So it catches them before they grow big. 🙂
Only issue is if you have it higher like me (around eye level). When take it it down to clean, better hold a tray underneath, because that “tray” thing doesn’t work. Dead “fried” flies fall out from it like it was dust.
(Maybe I’ll try clean with the hoover next time).

Stands in our kitchen. Gives a satisfactory zap sound when a bug is zapped! We live rurally and have always had to keep our kitchen door closed in the summer for 15 years to keep flies away from food! Now we can leave the door open. We don’t leave it on all the time. We do keep it on if there are flies in the kitchen and until we go to bed and have the other lights off to really draw the bugs to it. Wish I’d bought one sooner. Hubby has cleaned it. Very easy. Comes with a little cleaning brush. Really pleased we got one.
I gave this to my local bowls club and they have it in their office. It seems to be working as it should and I’ve had no complaints about its operation or durability. They only had a problem with the tiny fruit flies so maybe this is what it’s best for. They are certainly greatly reduced so I’m very happy with that it’s doing what it’s made for.

Great for the summer months when flies are pretty much EVERYWHERE! I’ve had this setup in the corner of the kitchen as a means to try and manage the fly problem, and so far so good, it works great, it’s unobtrusive and seems to get all of the flies in my home (don’t get or see any on an evening which is amazing).

Comes well boxed and it is a good size; got this just in time for summer and the beasties! It does what it is meant to do, I just don’t like the sound it makes when it zaps an insect and don’t like cleaning out the dead flies!
But it is great for summer and keeping clear, comes with a spare bulb and all that you need, just close your ears to the zapping!
I was really happy with this product. It is perfect to help keep down those summer flies that move in for the summer months.
The item is very simple to both look at and use. The main chamber contains strong flurescent uv bulb on each side. This surrounded by and electrified inter mesh ‘fence! This discharges a shock when a bug lands on it. You then have an outer fence covering the whole lot to prevent you from shocking yourself.
The device is easy to operate. It simply plugs in, you flick the red switch on the top and it’s live, and glowing.
To move this product when in operation you can simply lift it by its sturdy handle located on the top of it.
With regards to cleaning and maitainence, it is really simple. You slide the base tray out to empty it, and you also are provided with a little brush to reach through the outer casing to brush any pieces out
The outer casing also easily unscrews allowing you ease of access to replace the bulbs. It is fantastic also that this item comes with a spare bulb.
I am really pleased with this product. It is very productive and helping keep the number of bugs we get in the house down. It is fantastic for rural or urban locations and certainly if you have your windows open on most occasions. I am really happy to recommend this product.
This mosquito killer lamp works great, I have one of these type of lamps in each room as now the weather is getting warmer and window and doors are kept open it’s attracting all types of flies, nats, moths into the house and they are a real pest especially when food and drinks are on the table. This lamp is one of the best ones I have, it is effective in killing these flies. When one touches the bulb you hear the zap and you know it’s killed one. It has a removable tray at the bottom. You’ll be amazed how many flies it’s killed. The lamp also comes with a spare bulb which is a bonus and a brush to clean any trapped flies away. It works best when kept on when the room is dark, this will attract the flies to it easier. The only thing that could be improved is a longer lead to plug it in as it is quite short.

I know it seems cruel to kill things but I really don’t like the thought of insects anywhere in our home, especially in the food areas and around babies and children, so I decided to try using one of these.
There is a little drawer at the bottom which you can pull out and empty. It’s odour free and an effective way to kill insects and there aren’t any harmful to humans chemicals.
High Voltage so keep away from children.

This is a very efficient bug catcher, and much needed at the moment. We live in Scotland, home of the midge. Midges are ferocious biting wee beasties that make me itch like crazy. We live in the countryside near trees and not too far from water, so we get an extra helping of them. You could close your windows, seal them hide all summer and they would still get you. We had been using a bug catcher with a single light and smaller zapping area, it got some but no where near as many as this one is getting. The design is good, we cannot accidently get zapped, and our dog cannot get into the zapping area either. To empty the bugs, you just pull out the bottom drawer, you will be surprised at how many bugs there are around that you don’t even notice. Soon it will be fly season, I really hate to think of those walking round the kitchen so happy we can zap those. I do feel a bit guilty about the moths and try to catch them and pop them out if I see them first. The bulbs have a good long service life and you get a spare one.
This VPAGLJO Mosquito Killer Lamp is a tall, slim fly zapper, ie 40cm plus its fold-flat carrying/hanging handle. Build quality is good with a sturdy ABS body and secure screwed-in guard shielding the electrified grille behind. Twin 12″ T5 F8W tubes emit a purple UV light attracting insects which, upon contacting the electrified grille are quickly sizzled with their bodies falling through into the collection tray.
It is designed for practicality with readily available replacements tubes (and a spare is included too), slide-out insect tray plus a cleaning brush to remove any insects caught on the grille and fail to drop into the tray. The guard unscrews for simple tube replacement and the tubes, which generally last about a year, slot into place. There’s also a convenient power switch on the side of the unit so no need to operate it via the plug which, incidentally is fitted with a 13A fuse rather than the 3A preferred for a low-wattage appliance – so I swapped it over.
Within just an hour of unboxing and plugging in this fly killer, it set to work with a few loud bangs followed by sizzles as its first victims met their fate and the 4x3m room was quickly fly-free enabling us to switch it off until more entered through the wide-open windows. Again, these were soon terminally sizzled and on checking the slide-out insect tray we found a variety of expired flies, biting insects, small moths, and other flying insects. We don’t leave it running permanently in any room other than the kitchen during food preparation, but switch it on as needed and this also means it is very economical to run.
The zapper is very effective for quickly eradicating flies from a small or large room making it ideal for any room in the home and especially the kitchen and bedroom when a buzzing bluebottle can drive anyone to distraction and of the 6 we run in our home, this is one of the best performers and a very fair buy at 20 (via the 50% off coupon).
I would definitely choose this again due to its impressive performance and readily available replacement tubes which is always a deciding factor when we order a new fly killer.
I hate flies and mosquitoes. Hate chasing them around the house. So this is a great tool to lure them in and zap them. Easy to clean and store away. Very good.
This insect lamp feels a lot more robust than the previous one I had. It looks smart and well designed. The instruction booklet wasn’t the clearest that I’ve ever read but to be honest it’s fine for a product like this with just a power switch! The package includes a spare tube should you need to replace one, which will hopefully prolong the useful life of this lamp for a decent length of time. Also included was a small cleaning brush with a long handle – which saves having to dismantle the cover for day to day cleaning.
I’ve only given this 4 stars because the power cable was very short – in most houses with the power sockets close to the floor you will probably need to use this with an extension lead.

Effectiveness
I am happy to report this mains powered Mosquito killer works great, the UV light attracts insects well and the high voltage grid kills then with a noticeable zap sound. An evening’s work is shown in the attached photo. The device can be cleaned by removing the bottom tray, but there is no device to scrub the electric grid you have to manually clean with the supplied brush. A note of caution, if you place the device near an open window or door in the evening the UV light will attract moths, but they are too large to get though the safety cage so you will end up of a range of moths in the room.
What I liked
On / Off switch on the device, you can turn it on and off without reaching for the mains switch.
Spare bulb provided, although two are required in the device.

Based on the very good effectiveness I believe it is worth for four stars, dropped a star as no inbuilt mechanism to remove any flies that get stuck on the grid. In terms of openness, I was sent this item to review and I hope you found my review useful.
Good well packaged product arrived in pristine condition. This would be ideally suited to a living room or kitchen. It stands quite securely on a flat surface. It makes no noise and it needs to be left on for a few hours to attract any unwanted bugs. It’s so simple to clean with a draw to catch all the insects and brush to brush into the bin. There are spare bulbs if needed included. At 40 worth the price if you find that annoying fly keeps coming in the house !
Works awesome! We have used it about a week and im being happy with it. We are getting another for the front yard. We were so swamped with bugs that we could not enjoy our patio after dusk. This zapper draws in ALL the bugs and now we can be outside all night if we want with no mosquito bites! Its about 15 feet from our back door and we no longer get bugs in the house either!
This bug zapper is a little larger than I expected, it would be suitable for quite a large area I would say.
It arrived with only one bulb working, this can happen and at least a spare was included in the box.
It only took 5 minutes to change it.
The power cable is a little awkward as it exits from the top of the unit, it would also be nice if it was longer but its no big deal.
Its certainly effective, it zapped a fly within 5 minutes of being switched on.
The tray at the bottom is a good idea and makes cleaning out the zapped bugs simple.

This is a nice design, it’s big enough to be used in a shop or large room and even comes with a spare bulbs, it’s easy to clean and the pull out try is handy for cleaning too, all in all, it is very effective and good value also.
The be all and end all to bringing death to my annoying, buzzing enemies. It’s quite tall, bigger than my microwave and comes with a protective grill and two blue strip lights to attract the bugs. The plug cable is quite short, so will need to be close to a socket. It also leads out from the top of the item rather than the bottom, so can make it a little clunky. It has a handle at the top to move it safely around, a removable tray to dispose of the bodies of your enemies and a little bush to help with that. You also get a single spare bulb, just in case. It is absolutely quite, not at all like Hollywood films from the 90s. It’s quick and effective, killing bugs seemingly immediately.
