I was very skeptical about purchasing this product. I have several flies buzzing around my patio and they are super annoying. This kills them in an instant and chasing the flies provides exercise. It’s very effective. Love it. Would definitely recommend this to everyone with a fly or mosquito problem.

Does exactly what you think it would do, with great efficiency to, a single charge lasts weeks (depending on how much slaying your doing).
Takes a lot of beating to slammed it against the walls countless times and still holding up strong. Is really light to so isnt cumbersome to swing. Very well built fly swatter.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought these two Zap It’s mainly for zapping yellow jackets that are zig zagging in our yard. I already killed one colony in an underground nest (with poison), but a few still fly around. Some of them get zapped and die or get maimed. Some get zapped, they fall to the ground and fly away. If the swatter was truly 4,000 volts as advertised, there probably wouldn’t be any escapees. I measured the voltage and I was bummed by reading only 1,000 volts. They need to correct their advertisement.

Having tried other similar products, this one takes the satisfaction of brutally frazzling flies to another level. The smell of their charred remains once they have connected with this highly efficient killing machine is absolutely excellent. I hate flies so can’t recommend enough

Glad I bought a large one as I have never been talented with a bat of any kind. Love the noise of the flies being zapped. Works a treat when I eventually get them even better when they don’t drop off and burn. Best remedy ever to get rid of the annoying pests.

I rarely ever review products on here but this is by far the best fly bat out there. I have had several bats of the years this by far is best one. My home is now where flies come to die.

Defo worth the price just for the fun and satisfaction.

No longer have a home infested with flies and moths.
Now I can go back to just letting the odd fly or moth I find go outside… until they take advantage and try to wage war against my home again lol, then I’ll go back to using this trusty racket!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWell! What an awesome device! What can i say, years of being tormented by the lil terrors, finally i have a reliable weapon of mass destruction! Sometimes it doesn’t finish them off in one, they usually end up on the force field – so i just cook it. Flys, blue bottles etc are a little harder to get as they can be nippy lil buggers. Its mostly effective for wasps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a Wasp grave yard up in here!

Absolutely brilliant. USB rechargeable no chemical sprays in the house around children and pets. Best thing ever if flys in the house get on your nerves. They go with quite a bang though when they get frazzled so brace yourself the first time you use it.

Been thinking about buying one of these for years!the racket is easy to use. You just need to keep your finger on the yellow button as you swat! One you make contact with a fly/mosquito it zaps them (pretty loudly!). It’s my new toy for the end of the evening when the odd noisy fly gets inwill be taking this on our hols to France!!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCharges quickly, is nice and sturdy, and definitely kills every fly it comes in contact with. I have given this five stars despite the fact that I can’t see myself using this much, purely because of the guilt factor. I hadn’t foreseen *just* how bad I would feel manually killing flies with this – so if you’re a big softie like me, this probably won’t be your smartest purchase. I’m looking at purchasing a little rechargeable zapper unit instead, as at least then I won’t be doing the job myself :-/

Having seen one of these contraptions in action during a stay with a friend in Mexico, I thought I’d get one myself for those pesky midges that hover right in front of your eyes while you’re trying to work. I absolutely love this, works a treat.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe have a huge problem with “hover flies” in our house and on our porches. They are in the house 365 days of the year, and were driving me nuts! Since they never land on anything, they were impossible to kill without poison, which I didn’t want to use, as I have a lot of pets. Enter the ZAP IT! I didn’t even start in the house. I started outside on the porches, going out 2-3 times per day and getting rid of as many as I could. Since they hover, they were fairly easy to get rid of. After about two weeks of this, I noticed they were also no longer in my house! I think that getting rid of them outside meant they weren’t coming into the house every time we opened the doors. Fabulous! Now, I’ve noticed there are a lot fewer outside, too, as they probably have stopped repopulating as quickly. I often check once a day or so, and maybe get one or two.

I feel like they are good for this type of insect, fairly slow moving, and in confined areas. It doesn’t seem to work well on the types of flies that land on things, and those are just easier to get rid of with a fly swatter and good aim.

  16. Anonymous says:

Not quite as easy to zap the bugs as it makes out, and I wouldn’t dare use it in the same room as my pet rats and their cages in case I electrocute myself/the rats (also, I don’t think they would enjoy the bang), but the flash and bang when you actually get one of the wee horrors is most entertaining!

It works – a little scary if you’re a wimp like me. Not that its not safe but the snap of bug contact or seeing a lantern fly get stuck to racket and start smoking is not something I’m use to. That being said, I quickly grab the rackets when the flies/bees/stink bugs/lantern flies are swarming.

This makes killing flies and other bothersome critters fun for the whole family. We sit on out patio and eradicate all flying nuisances such as flies, mosquitos, wasps, moths etc.
Holds a charge a long time and the sound of the zapping of the insects is satisfying.

I found myself chasing after a fly trying to get him to run into the racket. I never caught him and thus had to use a rolled up t-shirt to whack him. It did catch a couple fruit flies that happened to fly in its path. I’m sure it works just fine on flies, if they happen to fly directly into it.

We’ve had several racket style bug zappers, and these tend to outperform the others. By that I mean they consistently deliver a crippling/debilitating shock to flying insects. We have two at home and two on our boat. Also, glad to see that with this generation they’ve gone to a standard mirco-USB port for charging so any USB charger will work. They are a little confusing with two switches, but we never bother with the light (does it really attract flying insects?) so we just use the switch for the electrified mesh and ignore the other switch entirely. We routinely charge theme every 2-3 days and never had a problem with them running out of juice.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was frankly skeptical, but with a bumper crop of mosquitoes this year willing to try. I was pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness. Seems to be sturdy (only time will prove, but solid and well finished), charge lasts for days. You can’t swat the wall of course, but I found if you hold the racket over a mosquito on the wall and lightly tap the wall, there’s a fair chance the mosquito will jump or fly right into the Zapper; and that works even in corners, where direct swatting never works.

My property has had an influx in horseflies recently and they are the woooorst hehe. I bought these to swat them dead as they fly around me while I walk / work outside and they work great! I didn’t want to get a fly trap in case there are other things that need them for food. But, I have noticed that over some time the level of horseflies have been decreasing. I would recommend these!

  39. MiraBrunton says:

works super well! the only inconvenient aspect (but also a good safety feature), is that you have to press and hold the activation button (in addition to turning it on) in order to zap. So if you’re swinging hard, you may lose the ability to hold down that button and not being able to zap. however I do understand that this is a safety feature and I think it’s better to be a bit inconvenient than to end up swatting and shocking yourself (or your dog or some body else).

Great exercise bat you will burn some calories whilst swatting and zapping those flies/ bugs. Love that it’s rechargeable and not having to look for batteries is even better.

  41. Anonymous says:

Well starting off with the bad the rackets are a bit small, but very lightweight, they don’t make any of that electrical noise that a lot of other ones do, you have to swing a bit hard to trap the bugs into the racket, but these are some of the lower priced rechargeable rackets on Amazon, so overall I would give it about four stars definitely try them

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have an older small Zap It that has worked fine for over a year. I purchased 2 large ones recently through Amazon and they did not work. Green light flickered or did not come on after charge and zap function was inoperable. Night light came on. I don’t need a night light, I need a bug zapper! I asked for replacements, received them, and they did not work either, same issue. I contacted Zap It directly by e-mail, and they did not respond. I give up, please refund and I will go with a different company. UPDATE: Zap It contacted me and sent me replacements again. This time they worked fine. They were a smaller size sent direct from the factory, but they work. They are working on the issue with the larger ones that I previously received. They believe they might have been with a secondary distributor for too long before being sold and the batteries were depleted. Both previous shipments came from the same batch.

You have to hold down the ‘on’ button to make it live while swatting but of the fun of the electric flash and the crack when you get one.
The blighters can move quickly so it turns out to be a cat and mouse tennis lol

It works – if you can catch a fly (I am not a good tennis player) by using the racket flat on the surface where the fly is – however although there is a noise when it zaps, I have found it stuns the insect if large so you need to zap it agai

The instructions are a bit unclear but it’s easy enough to sort out. One hit on a fly and it’s gone, dead as a doornail.
Two things to consider, firstly it’s made of plastic so only try to swat bugs in flight because if you hit it against a hard surface like you might with an ordinary fly swatter then it would soon break.
Secondly, sometimes there is a burning smell but it’s just the dead fly if it’s been given a good hit.

  57. Jessica says:

As soon as i got this little beauty i was swinging it around like a demented cross between Bruce Lee and Andy Murray – it literally zaps the wings off the little bastards so they fall to the floor and completely spaz out before dying and if you manage to to catch one in the racket you can fry it like you’re flicking the switch on some disgusting peedo – Great Fun !

This is a great, easy to use, easy to charge tool to take care of smaller bugs (mosquitos, small flies). Just be aware that with larger flies and wasps, it’s 50/50 whether it stuns/kills or just annoys them.

My son has one of these, and i quickly ordered one for myself as he hogs it all the time.
With this hot weather anyway we needed another one as the flies are a pain in my last nerve, as they are really hard face, Literally in my face. and fruit flies dont get me started on them things.

The Zappa is the best iv had and iv got camping light/zaps but the racket is by far my fav.
Im very happy with it and the only reason iv given 4 star rate instead of a 5 is because of the hold switch. Id rather have one i can just turn on and leave on but you have to keep it pressed down when in use. Also the USB port cover wont close it is quite lose and wont shut when not in use.

But that said, I am happy with it. Now im fighting with my son in comp to see who can hit them first lol. Quite fun sometimes in a sick kind of way. But hey there annoying flies. Dont judge me. 🙂

I Recommend this if you have the same fly problem.

This is hands down the most effective and satisfying way to get rid of those annoying groups of summer flies that end up flying in circles around the room. They don’t land so you can’t swat them. So easy to use! Larger flies will need a zap followed by a quick stomp on the floor as the zapper just stuns them. I am so pleased with this that I am going to buy some more for my family and friends. All these years I’ve been using a flimsy ineffective fly swat, wish I had bought this sooner, ridiculously pleased with it!

Not as easy as you think it would be to hit a fly, I’m a dab hand with a normal fly swatter but these Zapper ones don’t wield quite the same and I’m yet to hit one, although my son is a whizz with it.
One little “yukky” thing is the occasional smell of “burnt fly” after you swat a big one and it sometimes has to keep Zapping it while it’s caught in the wires.

I charged this up as soon as I got it but have not had much opportunity yet to test its lethality (is that a word? It is – just checked!) I have had a couple of satisfying cracks and sparks with a teeny moth that was driving me nuts, but I missed a slightly larger one (hence the title of this post) – I think the larger one must have had previous experience with a zapper and knew all the moves! With the warmer weather, the doors and windows are all open so I fully expect to get more practice in…I’m looking forward to indoor firework displays and the smell of incinerated unwelcome insects.

I only had to buy this and it seems that word has got around to the flies.
Since it came in the house, where previously we were inundated, there’s been very few flies daring to cross me and my new super gadget.
Easily charged highly effective and a joy to handle you don’t need to be an ex-professional tennis player to wield this, but it helps.
It’s also moved my backhand on a bit and my whole fly game has improved.
From June onwards I usually get bullied by swarms of flies walking down the single lane track to my house. This year, I’ve a feeling things are going to be very different.

I got this as for some reason we were inundated with fly’s in the house this summer. I’m not really a fan of just fly spray as I’ve got dogs and cats around the house.

So I ended up with this purchase.

The quality is good, it is sturdy and strong. It doesn’t feel cheap at all.

However, I have found the charge doesn’t last long even though its not been used. I think the battery is depleted even when not in use. So i’ve found it needs to be on charge alot…. never thought i’d have to keep something like this on charge.

The zap function works well, it surely does work but once its zapped try to release the button as it can start to smoke if the fly is trapped. (this is not nice).

I would recommend for those which don’t want to use spray.

Well, what to say? This racket is akin to supreme fly armageddon! With a keen eye, a swift serve and a little bit of luck, the little flying idiots don’t stand a chance. The crack sound and the light show as you hit one is probably a bit too satisfying, and the light is useful for checking my meter readings. I do have a light in my cellar but its much more exciting using the racket instead of the light, mostly because of the increased chance of zombies appearing. To sum it up, very good bat, much more powerful and violent than any other I’ve ever owned. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Recommended

Great tool. Initially I thought it would be more like a toy but oh no this is a fully fledged bug destroyer.
Its big enough that a good swing catches the bugs and it can easily be used against a wall or ceiling to nudge the suckers off a surface and onto the ‘grid of death’!
Call me weird but that fizz and the puff of smoke that results from a good catch is really satisfying..
Seriously though it does the job and is easy to use.
Charged it once and weeks later its still going strong, no idea how long the charge will last but very impressed so far.

This is great fun (unless you are a Buddhist perhaps) as it does Zap flying insects most effectively! Small flys and mosquitos are gone in a flash but larger flies and wasps may need several shocks before being dispatched. Usually they will be on the grid and so give several zaps in sequence. I don’t think I would try this on a hornet though as they could fight back and grab the bat. It does feel a bit plasticky hence 4 stars but works well so far. If you forget to switch it on the insect could get angry and the on/off switch is very small. Once it is on you have to press the bigger yellow button to activate the circuit.

I used it for killing flies&at first it worked very well on all sized flies from fruit flies upto even wasps killing them dead with a sizzle. Unfortunately after a week or two the very flat button started seeming harder&harder to press firmly enough to activate the device so its now become very hard to use verging on unfit for purpose. Makes it very expensive fly killer if it only has such a short life span. I have another which cost little more than a fiver with a more raised button easier to press&iy still works 3years after I purchased it! This one proves you don’t always get what you pay for!

I think the flat button is a design flaw&I wouldn't recommend it for that reason.

First thing I have to mention is that my original item was broken upon delivery so rather than contact Amazon I contacted the seller as per their advice on a leaflet inside the item’s packaging. They replied very quickly and after I sent them my order details and address they immediately sent out a replacement without me having to return the broken item. The replacement was received in approx 3 working days and although a slightly different design to the original item it was in full working order!.
The model I received has 2 ‘on/off’ switches (one switch on the handle’s side turns the main power on and off and the other switch on the front of the handle turns on/off a small light in the handle whilst other power switch is ‘on’). There is also a button on the side of the handle next to the main power switch, this button is a safety feature and must be pressed in whilst you are fly hunting otherwise the bat is not ‘active’ and no current is running through the metal grids even if the main power switch is ‘on’.
Flies and mozzies are quick…and are very deceiving…there are times you will think you have got one but, believe me, they will tease and annoy you and how you will run after them until you are greeted with a ‘cracking’ noise from the bat and you realise your hunt has been successful!
Now then…this part is not for delicate reading so turn away now if you are of a screamish nature…
Flies, as we know, come in a variety of sizes and the way the metal grids on the bat are designed means that flies will get caught in the grid…a stuck fly in a metal grid which has a current running through it only means one thing-you will have a fly that will light up like Vegas at midnight and they will basically ‘fry’ and the smell! This will continue until the fly finally ‘pops’ and all you are left with is the stench so be prepared!
I leave my bat with the power switch ‘on’ through the day and get approx 3-5 days out of the battery before it needs charging again but it all depends on your useage (ie how many flies/bugs you go hunting for) but once the light won’t go on is the time I find the bat needs charging. It comes with a standard ‘android’ usb charging cable that fits into any standard usb plug/charger, it connects into the bat at the bottom of the handle but the charging port cover is not a very good design at all
Overall, it does exactly what it is supposed to do and it also comes with a lifetime guarantee so you will be fly/bug hunting forever…good luck!

    A strange way to exercise...

Got the small size and it’s really good quality for the price.
This won’t kill a standard fly in one zap, it’ll go down stunned for a short while, so you can either pick it up with a bit of toilet roll and flush it before it starts flying again or keep zapping, 3 or 4 constant zaps normally does the job!
Easiest way I found is if the fly is on the window or windows seal, fire up the racket and just hold directly over the fly, it’ll go into the electric part by itself as it will try and escape, it’ll easily get zapped 3 or 4 times in one go, job done

When it’s warm in London, flies are everywhere, and since we have to keep the windows open, they enter the house all the time. This is a partial solution, since you still have to chase the flies and zap them, which is not so easy because they can move in any direction very quickly. Small flies die instantly, but the biggest, fattest ones need to be zapped up to 6 times (of course after the first 2 zaps they will be groggy to it’s much easier to zap them again). Ideally, this should have 2 power levels, the normal one for small flies and insects, and a high power mode for bigger flies.
It’s also good entertainment trying to catch the flies, so if you have flies at home this is a good buy.

This is capable of being really useful in the hands of someone with better reflexes than me. I have managed to get some flies an this bat gives a satisfying zap and fries the insect. The smell soon goes. it seems robust as I have wacked a few items of furniture but the little ‘darlings’ are hard to actually swa

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAbout over 10 years ago my parents had one similar with batteries, therefore I decided to buy one now as many flies came inside my flat. The first time I used I realised the big zapping sound is something I find a bit uncomfortable with.

Today a fly was against the window so it’s easy to zap it, then there was another one next to it witnessing the situation. When I about to zap the other one I could feel his energy gone down after seeing the first one being exploded in front of it. The second one was zapped at the end with no dead body left. I felt a bit guilty and thought, it would be nice if the zapper is less brutal. The one I had many years ago would just make them die (like faint) with body left on the floor but this one you could smell the burning bodies.

This product is not just good. It is, indeed, life changing. Bullied at school? Victim of crime? Low self-esteem? Then this beats any sort of counselling and with aplomb. I purchased mine as when I’ve been leaving the back door open, I’ve been letting flies in to the utility room. The item itself is wrapped in a big foil package and the excitement of unwrapping it was almost overwhelming. Once charged, I headed to the utility room and began using the product. That same night in bed, it was hard to sleep, recounting my first venture in to the world of fly zapping. From day one, things have escalated. Each day now, I watch an episode of Gold Rush; Parker’s Trail and dream about killing all those flies they have to contend with in Australia. Having fuelled my appetite, I head to the utility room and commence my killing spree. The feeling of accomplishment when you hit target and get the first pop is enriching. Then the real fun begins. Hold the button down and get a good sizzle going then it’ll start to smoke. After another five seconds or so, you get a truly orgasmic bang as the fly explodes. You can picture the fly as the school bully, the smack head down the road or a cruel step parent. It’s like tasering someone to death without all the pesky legal recriminations. It’s simply splendid.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our Usersmy first one didn’t work so they sent me a replacement, it’s a very good product, the only downfall is the mess of splattered bits of a fly corpse, its got in my hair too, so make sure you clean up if you use it in the kitchen, because this little thing turns flies to dust in a second, its even better than the wall electric fly killer I have . I also like how safe this product is too if it accidentally stepped on by your cat or dog they won’t get a shock because you need to press in the side yellow button to zap even when it is turned on, that’s what I love more about this product, safety is everything when you have pets , I highly recommend this product , it will likely last years if use propley .

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThis is FANTASTIC as gone are the days of being terrorised by flies, wasps and other flying bugs!

A single charge of this device last for ages literally, and the device is then on stand-by should any flying bugs enter your home. It does take a bit of skill on how to use the device in terms of actually making contact with flies and other bugs. However, once you master this, then you can zap away all the bugs from your home. I have to say it was a bit creepy to hear the sizzling noise of the electrical discharge, however, this is needed to know when you make contact with the bug. Now, it’s not all bad, as you can warn the bugs first with a small zap, and hopefully they will fly off to somewhere else, however subsequent zaps will render the bug immobile.

The night light was a bit of a waste of time, as it’s not really bright enough to track say a fly or mosquito at night, but it’s a nice touch. One other thing to note, is that it is quite safe as the zapping part is concealed with mesh either side, and you have to have the zap switch depressed at the same time as you make contact, so no danger of electric shocks etc 🙂

We found that after using this, the numbers of flies coming inside reduced, maybe the bugs heard on the grapevine that we had a Zap-It!! LOL

Seriously, with a lifetime replacement guarantee, this is a great device to have in the home!!

I like that its rechargeable by USB but we will have to wait to see how long the internal battery works but so far so good. The zapper is quite robust which is great for when you are catching the pesky flies “on the wing” but I am wary of swatting anything when they have landed in case the furniture or the TV gets damaged!! It is very satisfying when you do catch them , but do beware, sometimes one zap is not enough – it stuns but it does not kill, you have to hit them pretty hard to kill them at first swat. On the whole I like the product a lot.

Bought one like this in Colorado several years ago when the cabin we were in had an infestation of mossies and it has been our prime defence against Wasps in UK ever since. Sadly last Summer the batteries went kaput and melted the handle. This is a very capable replacement being better made and with the neat feature of being rechargeable via the supplied USB cable. The cable is of adequate length and is a standard c type USB connector. Also built in is a UV light to hunt at night! Not sure how useful that is but we will see. As I have been unable to use the Zapper yet as there are no bugs I have rated in 4*s but if it works as promised I will come back and re-review.
