Use for sport, action movies,4k you tube pretty good picture.
Bright and powerful projector screen is really sharp and easy to set up
Bought to use for occasional film nights .
Easy to set up although it can take a while to get picture square and in focus if not setting up dead centre to your screen , sound quality ok but would benefit from connecting extra speakers.
This is an excellent projector, this is my second projector of this make, the first one I had was 7 years ago and recommended my projector to my son and my parents who both have bought the same make but a more recent model. I thought that the projectors they bought were even better than my old one and decided to upgrade to a newer model and am so pleased I did. Its a superb projector. Would recommend this to anyone.
This is a brilliant projector. It comes with a very handy rectangular rucksack to keep the projector and wires in.
When I plugged it in it was so easy to set up . And the picture quality brilliant . I was also pleasantly suprised by the sound quality too as often the sound is poor in some projectors, but not this one
Really sturdy product too with a good solid protector for the lens
5 stars
Bought this for our scout group, very pleased with quality and features. Easily as good, if not better, than much more expensive household named brands. Built in speakers are fit for purpose but you need to supplement these with external speakers for the full cinema experience but this was expected and the built in Bluetooth works seamlessly with the soundbar we purchased at the same time. Altogether very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend.
Projector is bright and colours are vibrant. The fan is quiet even after operating for a while. Sound is good from the inbuilt speakers.
Picture quality it’s 5 star and sound is good but if you want to go a step further then you have Bluetooth and headphones.
Great projector I use a Amazon fire stick with mine to watch Netflix and prime videos the wimius k7 is great for a movie night or watching sport..I always cast videos from my iPhone and iPad and it worked great and was very easy to connect.
The projector works perfectly fine and is cost effective product.
Really good contrast! Bright colour. Mostly clear in the focus although if the distance is large enough you’ll start to see edges loosing clarity no matter how you tweak the focus. Still overall I really like it. 6D Keystone Correction is not really that helpful, but manual correction functions are good to work with.
The projector is hands down the best decision I took. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a regular TV. I don’t use a screen, I project directly on a white wall with no significant quality loss. Image is crisp, it doesn’t overheat, noise level is decent and the integrated speakers are enough for me, I don’t feel the need for an external speaker. Outstanding!
This is much brighter than the one we had before. It works even during the day. Added feats to adjust zoom isvery helpful. Very little noise which is not annoyingat all.
Easy to st up and use, picture quality and sound are great.
Picture is as sharp as 1080p can be. Bright enough for a bright room but not when the sun shined on the wall/screen which I think is normal. Speaker quality is great. Fan is a bit loud. 6D is worked but not perfect and more complicated than just press a button. The seller are really helpful and very patience with all my questions. Overall, for this price, I got more than expected so I’m happy with this product.
Brightness and quality is amazing! So happy with everything I will purchase from them again in a heartbeat! I just returned th much more expensive Samsung freestyle and this is miles better.
I was looking for a decent, budget projector for occasional movie nights and the Wimius K7 is ideal for that purpose. The picture quality and brightness is more than acceptable in low light, the projector fan is reasonably quiet and the image is a clear 1080p. It does get quite warm during operation but seems well built and reliable.
Although I was concerned about buying a cheaper projector, I really don’t think a more expensive model would fulfill the job much better than this one.
If you’re looking for a functional and good quality option at a low price I’d recommend getting this one – just set your expectations accordingly and you won’t be disappointed.
Good HD picture quality, bright in a lit room and sound quality is decent, however, I prefer to use an AV amplifier system.
Great value, can’t fault it, hopefully will last a while.
This was bought to replace my apeman projector which did not have the same ability to square the picture on the screen, This has far more settings for easy screen squaring at whatever angle the projector sits. To get the largest screen size you do have to set the projector back, the further back the larger the screen.
I like the brightness of this projector and the colours and saturation are all good in its default state. I use it on a proper screen about 6ft diagonal and its lovely. It can be used off centre and is automatic east west correction within about thirty degrees. Two hdmi out and two usb inputs. Jack plug input for video and sound too. The downside of it is that all inputs and outs are on the back rather than the side. The unit does not have a tripod mount, so you have to buy a mounting kit for ceiling or beaming up to the ceiling. For its price tag its ok and the definition is adequate.
The product looks great, and maintenance equipment provided is a great addition. I can’t wait to try it!
Negatives: Anyway the focus could be better, sometimes it’s difficult to get a sharp and clear image in the whole screen. If I put the projector over a plane surface, by default the image is projected 15 degrees rotated. There is another thing annoying, when you try to use the digital keystone correction, if you rotate the image, then you cannot use the vertical or horizontal correction, otherwise it will reset the rotation you did before.
It’s quite noise.
Positives: it has good bright, you can use it during the day (obviously it isn’t the best image in this context but it is better than other cheap projectors). The rest of the features are ok.
I done some research into what was the best projector on the market in this price bracket and the Wimius K7 easily topped the list. Arrived in quality padded bag, was easy to set up and picture and sound is great. Small issue regarding registering warranty due to a glitch on the website but easily sorted out with a quick email to customer services who were very helpful. Would highly recommend this product above competitors in same price bracket.
I bought this projector to replace another (different brand) which only lasted fifteen days!! First use and so far, so very good! Very impressed so far. Picture quality is excellent, and sound is very good. It also works well in light conditions. Very easy to setup and use. Noticeably it’s quiet in use and doesn’t run hot. I definitely recommend it.
Great product for the price, amazing picture quality for the price range and very easy to use, I just plugged my fire stick in and away we go
Carry case a great touch too.
This is a great projector for the price. The 6d keystone comes in very handy if you want your projector set up to the side of the room. The picture is nice and bright and the fan noise is not very loud compared to other projectors I’ve tried in this price range. The carry case that comes included is a nice touch. I did find when connecting a speaker via Bluetooth there was a delay in sound throwing it out of sync with the pictures, so I don’t use it. Great projector otherwise.
Amazing projektor. Worth Every penny. The colour and brightness exceed espectations.
The sound is actually veta good. For this price is a bargin. Perfect for friends and family watch om big screen.
Has taken a while to setup, had issues with connection to different devices (Ok via Miracast and iOS, but had difficulties with Amazon Fire Stick and Chromebook). Thought about returning at one point. However, after much perseverance, now have it working via Chromecast which was an additional cost. Ironically, it wouldn’t work via modern devices like Amazon Fire and Chromebook, but worked fine with my 10 year old Windows laptop. Now that I have everything working and setup, I’m much happier, but it has taken longer than expected. Might be worth adding a note about its compatibility issues with Amazon OS and Chrome OS.
Great delivery time as per prime . Came in a very neat ruck sack to keep it in if not in a permanent position. Not tried this one yet ,but have had a older modle brought from amazon about 3yrs ago and is still good ,so will be setting old one up in bedroom.sure this one will be everything they say bit is.And there customer service is good and reliable with knowledge. Good luck all.
i’ve tried 4 projectors in different price ranges and i have to say – this one’s the winner. the fan sound is very quiet which is a rarity in projectors for this price, the picture quality is great. don’t think anyone will regret getting it:) also the customer service is 10/10, was easy to reach them and get my issue solved without any troubles!
The image quality is very good, it has a little difficulty to mirror the Apple cell phone, but it is a good product.
Very good product Quality/Price, the image quality is high and if you install it properly you will get a nice cinema at your own.
To use the 6D function you have to press it once
And quick and it will be fixed for you automatically
I love this projector. Led power and image quality cover my demand. But is only for indoor with poor light during day light (50% of normal light). The best image is with 100″ during day light (2.5 meter aprox. from wall). During the night you can get excellent image until 200″.
This product has 450 ANSI Lumens. I think a 550 ANSI Lumens projector wouldn’t need a poor light room to get the best image.
It is really great. The keystone correction function really helps a lot since we cannot put right direct to the wall.
Product is worth for the money. Looks handy and portable.
Great value and quality for the price point. Easy to set up and good customer suppo
The spec is great for this price range, and the accessories are also thorough.
The only downside is that I seem cannot use the 6D auto-adjustment, it doesn’t work well in my case..
Anyway , I still can adjust the screen manually.
This is a fine budget projector but wasn’t bright enough for my needs.
So far so good nice quality projector comes with carry case and easy to understand instructions , nice clear photo and fan not to loud .
only just tested to see picture quality and seems good so fa
I love this home projector! I bought this for my chill room and it’s perfect for playing games and films on the wall.
I can put some films on a USB stick and plugged it into the projectors USB port and it plays the files fine.
It has two HDMI ports which are very useful as you can connect a HDMI TV stick into the projector, such as Amazon Fire TV stick and another device like an Xbox or PlayStation etc, and it has a two USB ports on the back, and one is 5v power only and then other is the data USB port, so you can power things like HDMI TV sticks from the projector. I use my laptop and VLC media player and it works flawlessly over 1080p resolution.
The image quality is fantastic, it’s native 1080p so you get the Full HD quality projection. You can adjust the focus to suit the distance from the wall, the further back the projector; the larger the image and the video quality and brightness seems to stay the same which is great.
You don’t have to have the projector directly in the centre of the wall either, you can have it higher or lower than the projected image and it allows you to adjust the ‘keystone’ which fixes the image to make it straight on the wall. This is very useful for me as it’s in a small bedroom where I can’t have it directly in the centre of of where I want it projected.
The fans are quite considering other projectors, and I can’t really hear them over the sound of the film anyway, even with the built in speaker it sound great.
The remote is useful and works well, has all of the main buttons that you need. Settings on the projector are good, brightness and colour can be adjusted, zoom feature is cool as you can zoom in, and actually zoom out from 100% too to make the image smaller if you want without having to move the projector forwards or backward, again all these settings can be done from the remote accessing the settings menu on the projector.
Another cool feature is that it has built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, so you Airplay your iPhone screen straight to the projector without the need for any additional cables etc, The projector connects to your home WiFi router and then you can airplay straight from your phone.
Very happy with it, love playing my Xbox and watching Netflix on a massive wall. Sound is great with the built in speaker, quality is amazing at Full HD 1080p. Plenty of input and output ports too for external audio like a soundbar or headphones. Love it.
Good overall but fan is a little loud
Also feel screen adjusting could be easier other than that it is good for watching films
I have bought 3 projectors recently for different purposes and I found this projector from Wimius has some merits among the 3.
The 6D keystone correction is incredible, providing a large range of flexibilities. I believe this is the only projector that can provide auto correction and up to 50 degree of angle of correction. Other projectors within this price range only offers 10-15 degree of angles of correction and a manual adjustment function. This is really a surprise for me as I don’t expect wall / ceiling detection for the auto adjustment functionality with the price.
Picture quality is also top-tier. 16000:1 contrast is top between my projectors within this price range. 9800 lumen is not measured in ANSI standard so its not fair to compare with the number itself, but from what I experience it is amazing in darker room, and sufficiently clear in a room with some lights. I put up a video to try it in a room with morning lights seeing image still visible (projected image size about 55″)
The connectivity 5G / bluetooth is just the same as other popular modern projectors. Nothing to complain
The last thing I like about this projector is the built in 10W speaker. Although 10W doesn’t sound like a very decent speaker, I run a test it actually has somehow a better maximum volume than my other projectors which claims to have speaker with the same 10W power. Wiminus is renowned for better speaker quality compared to other brand I would say
One honourable mention is the size of the projector. It is actually quite tiny and portable. However, I realize I need to pay extra attention to the cooling and ventilation as it gets hotter than conventional projectors!
It was quick to set up and the case with all accessories was nice to have. all looks good!
Great picture quality even in daylight – really pleased with that as this was the reason for the purchase. Easy to use and set up. Streaming wirelessly was a little slow when internet speed is fas
Quality is perfect really happy and comes with a decent built in speaker if you don’t have anything else to connect to straight away. Would recommend and the settings menu is easy to navigate, great bag for carrying and hdmi included
I was pretty impressed by the projector initially. I was planning to use it for sewing patterns (projector sewing) and some art, so the noise (I would consider it too noisey for films) would not be a problem for me. However wifi and miracast do not work. The wifi did work once but the miracast never did. So I will be sending it back.
Honestly, incredible projector for the price. Wish I bought it sooner!!
First and foremost the Wimius K7 has a fantastic clear picture and does everything it said it would amazing.
When you think things can’t get better wimius have come along with another great projector.
This isn’t the first wimius I have purchased , my first was the P28 which I was over the moon with and waited such a long time to get a projector and the P28 won me over.
Next was the K1 another great projector use it all of the time inside and out doors too.
And now K7 just gets better all the time.
Connection on all devices are great , set up so easy and good to go first time.
Such a compact projector and also comes with its own back pack so easy to take to friends and family on a movie night.
Never been disappointed with wimius projectors so pleased I came across them on Amazon, its a thumbs up from me.
Have been thinking about getting a projector for a while as not keen on having TVs in the bedrooms and like the versatility of being portable.
After some research, decided to purchase this one based on reviews. Came nicely packaged in the backpack.
As per other reviews the picture quality is good. Unfortunately with mine, no matter how much I focus the picture or the distance moved from the screen, the bottom of the screen remains blurry.
It connects well for bluetooth, games console and with my fire stick although with the fire stick it was a bit fiddly and only fits in the HDMI1 slot (there are two HDMI slots). The sound from the projector is similar in quality to that from a tablet. Its much better when connected to a Bluetooth speaker.
My main gripe with this projector is how loud the fan is. No one seem to mention this in their reviews. Its not that noticeable when watching something at medium volume but it is when you’re not. I thought it would be a bit quieter. Its similar to the sound of the fan when an old laptop is overheating and the fan is working hard to cool it down. Not too sure if it worth it. Bought it on prime day but wasn’t a deal as I thought as they were offering at similar price with the 50 off voucher before and affer prime day.
Update: have been contacted by Wimius customer service to resolve issues mentioned above. Quite impressed as wasn’t expecting it. Explained that the fan noise is due to more power needed to produce the high quality picture which is understandable. Have updated my review as a result.
Received the very next day. Tried it and picture quality is amazing. We had to attach our Bose speaker for better sound but the one coming from the projector wasn’t bad either. Overall happy with the purchase.
2nd project from wimius very well built and so easy to setup.great picture even in faily light room curtains open but in the dark it’s a lovely picture well worth the cheep price …
I received this last week and used it all weekend. All I can say is that it is a seriously impressive piece of kit. From opening the box you can see the quality. All packed neatly in a handy little bag. The set up of the machine is very straight forward with an easy to use menu. The picture quality is absolutely fantastic, crisp images and detail all from this neat little machine. Obviously, being a projector, the darker the room is the clearer the picture, but eleven with lights on it is easy to see. Whether you plug in an hdmi or connect via your phone the image quality remains the same. I watch a lot of sport and movies and this is such a good piece of kit, for only a fraction of the cost of a tv.
I always love to watch movies in big screen especially with some popcorns, this projector helps to experience theatre experience in my home. This is my new addition to my collection. I already have Wimius K1 7500 L and to upgrade I’ve ordered this. As usual Wimius didn’t disappoint me and delivered me the best product again. I see it got lot improved in the design, picture quality and sound. Overall, I love this product.
Design:
The colour and design of this projector is really good and the bag it comes is perfect and classy, I can take it anywhere I want. It looks sleek and portable compared to my previous versions. I’ve already started loving it.
Picture:
It took some time for me to do the initial setup (maybe I am slow) to do the four-point correction to get the picture aligned in my wall but after that everything looks simple and straight forward. The picture quality is impressive and bright. Sometimes I feel too bright but overall videos looks lively and vibrant. My room is not fully dark but still the video quality is truly amazing. I know there a lot of projectors available in the market but this one stands out for its quality in this price range. I tried casting through Google chrome also mirrored my iPhone both quality is amazing. I am sure this image quality will impress anyone who wants decent projector for this price range (This is definitely value for money) .
Sound:
I have a small room and these Internal speakers are great enough to create home theatre experience. Also, this one has options to connect to the external Bluetooth speakers.
Overall:
I am extremely happy with this projector, and I have already recommended to my friends to check this projector. This is a product holds value for your money.
Great packaging, instructions and care information. Excellent quality product and features for the price. Can’t be beaten!
It looks really good and seems to be great value for money. I love the fact you can play netflix, amazon prime etc through it. Can’t wait to use it!
This projector comes in a novel carry case / backpack. Such a clever idea when you go over to friends or just need to pack away. Its a definite upgrade on my year old projector. This is superb when playing on my xbox and as you can see from the pictures the whole gaming experience is enhanced to another level. The price point is fantastic, many of my friends can see the benefit from having one of these in the cellar, bedroom or the garden. The USB inputs allow me to have SKY attached and coupled with my multiroom subscription I can watch the football on a pub sized screen (or wall in my case). I have a soundbar connected to the projector but the sound from the unit works fine if a soundbar is not available. Remote control is a quality item and does not seem cheap like other projectors I have tried.
I already have a Wimius projector which I purchased for a family movie room. We are really impressed with it, so when I needed a portable projector for my business I bought this Native 1080p projector.
It’s easy to carry around, comes with a great case and connects easily via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or HDMI to my laptop or smart phone.
Picture quality is excellent for presenting, video is really good and a bright, clear display. , 6D is a great feature and it’s very easy and quick to use. It also looks professional too, which is important. Great value for money . I’d recommend it.
This is an upgrade to the K series of projectors. It’s very similar in terms of controls, keystone and throw distance. One of the most noticeable differences is the brightness, its much brighter than previous models. The other is the reds, these are much richer and less pink than before. It’s full 1080p with a good range of inputs. A great projector all round, perfect for movie nights with the family
K7 projector
Not only have I found Wimius projectors to be of sound quality I have also found their customer service to be very helpful in delivering help and solutions to my queries. It was for this reason that I have again chosen Wimius to upgrade my K3 projector.
So, I purchased the K7 which advertisers a 5G Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / 9800 Lumens / Auto 6D Keystone Correction / 4P/4D Full HD Native 1080P 4K Projector Supported with Infinity Zoom 300.
On opening the product, the first thing that struck me was the neat little rucksack it comes in. Not a cheap carry bag, this is a quality mini rucksack made of good sturdy material like you would find a top of the range laptop to come in, so I am impressed to start with.
K3 a lot smaller than I imagined considering it’s features but this is actually a good thing as it makes the projector more portable (especially with my rucksack).
Plug in and switch on, just checking it is on as so quiet compared to my K3 and believe me that was quiet.
Set up easy to do and decided to connect to my Xbox Series X.
Keystone correction works a treat but not a feature I would use at home but good if you are out where your surface is not level.
So, as I said, connected to my Xbox Series X and WoW, what picture quality!
I have projected on to a wall that is not white, it’s cream and the colours are still sharp I can’t wait to use my white screen now.
Also seen the projector advertised using in sunlight so tried this myself and got to admit you can still see the picture very clear, so the 9800 Lumens work a treat. See attached pictures.
Just to show clarity I have added a small video clip, again this is on a cream wall not whit background so you can see how good the projector actually is.
So, what’s my score out of 10, I am going to give it a 10.
Yes, there are better projectors on the market but for its price take it deserves to be a number 1 selection.

A highly recommended projector for a very affordable price. Easy to install and the picture quality is superb. Happy for my purchase, I really enjoy watching movies in a big screen. Love it!
This is overall a good choice in projector with a large and clear 1080p image. It’s bright enough for use in a dimly lit room, and works well with an Amazon fire stick. The speaker quality is also quite good, however it would of course benefit from an external speaker, which can be easily connected via bluetooth.
There’s more settings options for tweaking the sound and image than my previous Wimius projector, and my tip would be to turn on the wider colour mode for more natural tones out of the box. The four-point keystone correction also works well manually, although I couldn’t work out how to use the automatic function. The projector is also pretty quiet and smaller than other projectors i’ve used.
This is a great projector for the price point.
I previously owned a Wimius K3 and was really impressed with it, however this K7 projector is in another league! First impressions when I unboxed this were great, the backpack is a genius idea and it is a great option for storing the projector and moving it from place to place. The included HDMI cable is also another nice touch and often not done by even the really expensive brands. The Projector has mounting holes under the rubber feet (just like the K3) and can be mounted by any standard projector ceiling mount. The projector looks even smarter in the flesh and the lens cap fits nicely without adjusting the focus when you put it on and off (a real annoyance on other projectors). You can plus a Fire TV Stick straight into this and use one of the USB ports of the projector to power the stick, which is great. The Keystoning is also great if you can’t get your project perfectly centered and doesn’t impact image quality. Right, now onto the image from this projector…
The 9800 Lumen is a 30% increase on the K3 and that was already a bright projector. The image of the White Cockatoo is with no blinds shut and the image is super clear and really impressive. Image sharpness, contrast and saturation is on point (adjustments can be made in the settings to your own tastes, but the default settings are pleasing) and the 1080P resolution is great, this projector definitely delivers on image quality — you won’t be disappointed!
Summary
Projectors are not for everyone and every situation. These cheaper LED projectors have unique advantages and dis-advantages. Please read my review below to understand these. If you decide you want to buy one, the Wimius K7 is the best I have seen and improves in almost all areas over its older brother the K3.
General
My daily driver is a BenQ cinema projector (also 1080p), which was about 800. It’s not fair to compare it with the K7 as they are different beasts for different jobs. The BenQ has much better brightness and much better sharpness — but I have to keep it ceiling mounted due to its fragility. As it uses a traditional tungsten bulb it gets super hot. If I moved it out into the garden, or took it to a cottage, chances are the extremely fragile bulb would get damaged. When a traditional projector is hot, just moving it can blow the bulb, with a replacement bulb alone costing about the same as a K7 projector. No such problem with LED projectors — they can take a good bit of abuse even when running.
Instead, I will compare this to it older brother, the K3, which was available for about the same price 2 years ago.
The K3 was a good, but UGLY projector. It was very much designed by engineers — big and boxy and with the controls placed where it is easy to install them, not where it’s easy to use them. The K3 had the navigation controls all in a row and on the back!
The K7 has the controls on the top (where you can get to them) and laid out logically (the ‘up’ key is at the top, the ‘left’ on the left etc). The K7 remote is good too – also logically laid out and nice in your hand. I found navigation easier on the remote — at least for the initial set-up. Once you have everything configured as you like it, you can leave the remote in a drawer.
The projector itself is nice looking. Significantly smaller than the K3, with nice lines. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to have this on display.
The menus on the K7 are simple and easy to navigate. It’s really easy to get the best out of it — which is the key difference with the old K3.
There is an easy to remove air-filter. Once removed, this can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. My son used my 1st (720p) projector as the main TV in a student house for about a year. As the house was filthy, all the air intakes on the projector got completely blocked and the heat build-up killed the LCD panel, so having easy to clean filters is important.
Sound
The built-in speaker is ok. Less boxy sounding than the K3. If you want to stick the football or news on it would probably do. You can add external speakers if you prefer (and I prefer!)
Pairing a Bluetooth speaker to the projector was dead easy. I paired it with a BOSE SoundLink Revolve+ and had no problems. Bluetooth usually introduces a small amount of lag. In this case it was typical for my SoundLink (I would guess no more than 100ms). It would have been nice to see an option in the projector menu to compensate for this (by allowing you to delay the video to match) but it’s not there. This is to be expected at this price, and the FireTV I was using has an option to calibrate anyway, if the delay becomes a bother. Some people probably won’t notice.
Video
The key things that affect this projector’s performance are:
– The light-source (in this case an LED bulb)
– The image generator (LCD panel)
– Lens assembly
– Image processor
Image Processor
Out of the box settings were a surprise. Normally on budget displays (including TVs) the defaults are set by the marketing teams to give you that ‘wow!’ factor when you 1st switch it on. This usually equates to over-saturated, unnatural colours, blown highlights and a grainy, over-sharpened picture. Not so with this! It looks like it was configured by someone who appreciates a watchable picture.
Colour out of the box is great! The old K3 had both a blue and magenta tinge that was almost impossible to get rid of. On the K3 it turned out to be a problem with the image processor, which you could bypass in an obscure part of the menu, but that also bypassed sharpening, digital keystone etc, etc.
On the K7 I only had to make minor tweaks – turn down the colour slightly and turn up the sharpness a bit.
Putting on a test film, 1st impressions were bad. The frame rate was slow – a 24 frames per second (fps) film looking like about 18 frames per-second with jerky movement and choppy camera pans, despite being fed from my laptop at 60fps.
Swapping to an Amazon FireTV (and setting the FireTV to output at the correct fps for the source material) made a huge difference. Lovely smooth video. If you are going to watch video on this (and I’m guessing you are) then use a correctly configures source. I’m guessing the image scalers can’t keep up properly with a source that puts out frames faster than it needs to — even with digital keystone correction turned off.
I haven’t used the projector for gaming but, given that the image processor appeared to struggle at 60Hz, I wouldn’t be surprised if it also had issues with high framerates for games. This is untested though!
As far as the digital keystoning goes, it works ok and is easy to setup. The problem with any of the digital effects (keystone/zoom) is that, not only do you not get to use the whole panel (so you are wasting some resolution), the image has to be re-scaled and anti-aliased so the pixels on the source image don’t match 1:1 with the projector’s pixels (assuming you have a 1080p source). This degrades the image a bit. As a purest I will always try and put the projector in the best place, rather than compensate — even if that means shoving Granny out of the way.
Wireless casting from a phone is easy to use. I used a Samsung over Miracast. It’s great for showing photos and videos from your phone but it’s not good for watching a movie. Fortunately the projector’s USB sockets will power an Amazon FireTV 4k or similar.
Bulb
The LED source is fine. White is a good balance. Earlier LED projector bulbs were too blue. Looks like this is fixed now.
THE LUMEN VALUES FOR ALL CHEAP LED PROJECTORS ARE COMPLETELY MADE UP!
‘Proper’ projectors state their brightness in ‘ANSI Lumens’. This is a standard scale. Cheap LED projectors quote ‘Lumens’ which is not standard, and they abuse the hell out of it. It is impossible to compare projector brightness using the ‘lumens’ you see quoted in their specs. This is a real shame and demonstrates a ‘race to the bottom’ by all the manufacturers of LED projectors.
Based on the K3 specs, I was hoping to see a noticeably brighter picture than the K3. I did not. If you have a K3 and are looking for a brighter projector, this is not it.
As with any projector, if you try to make too big an image there won’t be enough contrast and you’ll get a washed-out, dim picture. If that happens you will need to move your projector closer to the screen and have a smaller, brighter one.
Talking about contrast, this is the big thing that differentiates TVs from projectors — black level.
Contrast is the difference between the darkest colour you can display and the brightest. The higher the contrast ratio (the bigger the difference) the easier the image is to see.
When a TV is turned off, the screen is very black. Parts of the screen then light up to make images. The contrast ratio of a TV is high — the black of the screen vs the brightest white it can display.
For a projector you typically project the image onto a white screen or wall. This white screen is what black looks like. There is no kind of light you can shine at that wall to make it darker! The contrast ratio for a projector is based on how dark the wall is vs how bright a white the projector can shine on it. The brighter the room/tent/garden, the brighter the screen (and consequently black) is. If you have a bright room and a weak projector the difference between black and white will be small and the image will be ghost-like.
This is where you must decide whether a projector is for you. These LED projectors are not powerful enough to be used in a brightly lit room. In a sunny garden there is no chance!
A shaded garden in the evening? Great! A dimly lit room? Fine just avoid shining light directly onto the screen. A dark room is perfect. Again, if the image is too washed-out, move the projector closer to the screen. This will make the image smaller and brighter, increasing the contrast ratio.
If you want a big screen and can’t control the lighting, then projectors are not for you!
There is some brightness drop-off towards the edge of the picture. This is much lower than I have seen on other projectors of this type and it really does not affect viewing of video.
LCD Panel
As discussed, out of the box colours on this projector are good, LCD panels can’t handle as strong colours as, say, DLP, but this does well for its price. If you turn the colour up too far, instead of getting more vibrant it just gets yellowy and nasty, Know the projectors limits and don’t exceed them.
Contrast on this panel is slightly improved over the older K3, as the blacks on this projector are blacker. On the K3, black was slightly grey, which is typical of LCD projector panels. This one does a better job of stopping the light though.
Lens Assembly
A traditional (expensive) projector has a complex lens system. This allows the image to be projected at an angle from the body – typically projected above the projector. This means you can place the projector at the bottom of screen and it will project up onto it, or you can mount the projector upside-down on a ceiling and it will project down onto a screen below the ceiling. These lens systems also allow for good keystone correction and great edge-sharpness. On the downside they are expensive, heavy and fragile.
The new generation of cheap LED projectors take a much simpler approach. This improves cost, reliability and weight at the expense of image quality and mounting flexibility.
Rather than putting the projector below a screen, the ideal height for these projectors is mid-way up the screen — projecting straight forward. If you want to place the projector higher or lower than this, you will need to angle it up or down — this will give you a trapezoid shaped screen. You can compensate for this using either the digital keystone or optical keystone correction (on the side of the machine next to the focus dial).
If you can avoid using either of these you should — especially the optical one. Moving the optical keystone control away from the centre point means you have a choice: “do you want the top, middle or bottom of the image to be in focus?” Better to elevate the projector on one of the projector tripods you can buy quite cheaply on amazon and keep it in the middle.
If you do this then edge sharpness is good, not great — if you project text you will see there is blurring at the edges. When watching a film you WILL NOT notice this (unless you are really looking for it). I’m picky about these things but it has very little effect on watching video. This is to be expected on this class of projector.
This is an absolutely amazing projector. I used to have an older version of Wimius which I absolutely loved, but this one just amazed me with the picture quality and the 6D corrections. Normally it takes some time to set up a projector, especially with the corrections and colour settings. But this one was near perfect straight out of the box. I was able to get 110” with the old one but at the same distance, I can now get 125” with this one. It is about 4m from the screen. The remote is very responsive; my projector is behind the sofas we sit on and I don’t need to point at the projector, which is very good. I have tried connecting my phone via BT and it also works well. We normally use it with Amazon Firestick. Overall I am extremely happy with this, and also their support is very good.
Was really impressed with the projector, had a few of other brands in the past and they didn’t meet my expectations, however this one is great. Good value for money, speakers was much loader and clearer then anticipated. The picture is vivid and clear. Great for a good movie nights And it is bright enough for most of not all conditions. Photo shows but doesn’t give it enough justice
I am very happy with the image and sound quality. The picture quality and brightness is much better than my old projector. No need to make the room very dark to make the picture bright enough. It support horizontal and vertical keystone adjustment, which is also very useful. It can accept sources from HDMI, VGA and AV USB inputs. Only thing is I Couldn’t find an option for wireless connection.
his is the best projector I have used I can’t believe it’s under 300 the colours are bright the picture is clear! Movie nights here I come
Amazing projector. I would say it is well worth the price! It is one of the best projectors I have used. Amazing picture and sound quality. Really recommend this product for both house and office use.
