I bought this for my dog to have fun with. He loves drinking from any running water so this keep him busy and hydrated. I filled a washing up bowl with drinking water, place the fountain in and it worked immediately. Very happy and happy dog too.

In my experiece, small solar products trend to be cheap, tacky, fragile and unreliable. This product has a robust feel to it. It fuctioned well from the start and is still going strong 4 weeks later.

Works even when the sun goes in unlike other solar pumps. Has worked every day for 5 months so far and I’m really impressed. It does need occasional cleans as I have duckweed that clogs up the holes and it doesn’t run constantly but it’s so much better than others I’ve tried. Well worth getting two if you have anything other than a very small pond

Brought this after the first one wore out. The panel and built/in battery is a great improvement, as are the suckers to fix it. Makes a nice noise in the garden and gives the cats hours of fun. A pleasantly pointless bit of gear that even my grown-up kids like.

I wasn’t sure that this device would be any good at all at clearing my pond but it does seem to have worked. I had a very murky, green pond. Couldn’t see the bottom but it’s now clear so am more pleased with this purchase than I thought I would be.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersThe solar Fountain works well however the instructions do not make it clear how the mechanism should be cleaned. I found a video on YouTube which showed how to remove the filter. There are various fittings to make a fountain , which are nice but I find that the wind blows the water and quickly empties the bird bath so I personally prefer without fittings so that the fountain just gently bubbles and the water stays in the birdbath.

I have waited 5 days to write this review. I now feel that it works and does what it says on the tin. We wanted a small water feature powered by solar, but most garden centres had quite expensive elaborate ones, and all of them required electric power. Took a chance on this particular model after reading reviews of a lot of solar powered fountains on Amazon.
It was easy to assemble, nothing to it, immersed it in water, and it started working straightaway. Very good.
Experimented with a variety of surfaces – conclusion it needs a fairly deep – like 6 inches deep – water bath – we used a large hemispherical former flower pot. The suction pads on the bottom are fairly ok, but they don’t stick for long on terra cotta surface. So, the fountain keeps floating all around the bath with the wind. If it doesn’t stay exactly in the centre, all the water eventually goes out, and you will have to refill the bowl. no bother, needed to do it once every morning.
Well, it is a nice thing to have, just in the middle of the patio, but the jury is still out on whether it actually lures birds into the garden to have a drink.

Golden Review Award: 82 From Our UsersI’m really pleased with this product. I bought it just to add a bit of movement to my pond surface and its worked a treat. I thought I would give it a couple of months before reviewing to see how it went and I’m very happy to say it’s still working as well as the day I got it. It works well even on fairly cloudy days and there was only one day so far Ive noticed it not running but it was raining all day. I’m in North West England.
As it was going in my pond which has lots of wildlife and weed in it I decided it would be a good idea to see if it would float in a pond plant basket, the basket floats and the fountain floats inside that. It stops it propelling around the pond too much and also reduces the amount of debris that would otherwise effect the pump. I’ve had to clean the pump and nozzle approx every couple of weeks or so which is a quick and easy job (quick rinse out under tap.) It’s got a gently tinkling water sound with the fountain nozzle I have fitted to it.
All in all I’m very pleased and it was worth the money, even the newts love it because everytime I lift it out there are a few hiding underneath it haha.
    Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI bought this solar spray to aerate my pond and I am very pleased with its performance, but it did require clearing the pump of grass and weeds every day until I made a simple modification shown in the photograph. The pump now draws clean water from a depth of about 12 cm instead of from the surface of the pond where floating debris can block the flow of water to the pump. It now requires far less clearing of weeds and grass. A Yeo Valley yogurt pot fits perfectly over the pump assembly and holds in place without any securing mechanisms. Before you fit the yogurt pot to the pump cut off the bottom of the pot with a sharp knife and a pair of scissors.

    Ideal for aerating ponds

So I decided to take a chance on this one? And I’m glad I did! I’ve had it in my garden since I got it over a year ago and its still working without any problems
As long as you remember to clean it each time you refill the water I did mine daily as was needed for birds to drink from etc? It only takes a few seconds to clear out any debris etc and put back together! So easy to assemble I managed to do it unaided and thats HUGE lol
It doesnt stick to the base of my plant plate it does move/float around but that is the only negative i have and actually didnt mind anyway as the birds seemed to like it and it kept the water moving?

I’m writing this mainly because I’m concerned how many have gone to waste. I nearly return it. It takes time to get the hang of it, but once is charged it works perfectly in doors for about 4 or 5 hours, I am in the process of creating an indoor pond I’m including visuals to demonstrate the strength of the sound and also I adapted a straw which gives height this improves the sound. I put it outside when I go out to charge. Maybe manufacturer should include larger fitting. Is wonderful in the evenings, stops about 10 minutes before sunset.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersUPDATE: 3 months on and it still works a treat. I leave it on the patio table in the sun and then pop it in the water when I want to sit out. If it doesn’t start up immediately I do the following:

    1. Jiggle the fountain around a bit in the water to get the water inside the pump mechanism – I think it sometimes struggles to suck up water initially if it’s been dry inside.

    2. Take it apart and clean the filter with a blast of water from the hosepipe. Then take apart and check the nozzle for gunk too. You’d be surprised what gets sucked up, even in apparently clean water.

ORIGINAL: This is genuinely brilliant. Got it, put it together (clear instructions), popped it in the container and withing 10 seconds it had powered up and within 30 seconds it had reached the power shown in the video. It’s not even in direct sunlight!

It’s not designed to create great jets of water and look spectacular, but it creates a pleasant trickling sound in the background in the garden and looks nice, which is what I wanted. You can get different effects with the different nozzles, which is a great idea.

For the price, it really can’t be beaten.

Best with a bowl / tub at least 50cm in diameter – then (assuming it is in the middle) it won’t send much water over the side. Also needs a couple of inches of water below it to work properly. The 6 different spray possibilities are fun. It does float around so a bit of ingenuity is required to keep it in the middle. Mine is in a deep tub (fake whisky barrel), so it can lose a lot of water before needing to be refilled and it doesn’t matter if the fountain isn’t in the middle.

This gives a good effect with multiple heads and backup battery and cut out out if it runs dry and when dark.
There are some limitations that are not fault of maker.
If it hasn’t enough space wind can blow spray out of birdbath and empty it quickly.
Also if not sunny or bright it won’t function.
It’s not it’s fault though. It’s automatic night time shutdown cuts in on dark days.
Also doesn’t explain that to charge it’s battery you have to take it out of water. The pump shuts down but the battery recharges.
I would recommend it as long as you realise the limitations of lack of sun.

I bought a Chinese bamboo water hammer 20 years ago after seeing Kill Bill. I’ve moved home 3 times in the meantime and never set it up as I’ve been waiting for an affordable solar pump that can do the job.
Today was that day – finally set it up, had no idea what strength pump I would need to supply a meter head.
This did it no problem. Plugged it all in, placed pump in water, connected solar panel and off it went, immediately. I’m possibly getting a bit too much water through, causing splashing and therefore water loss, but hey! – not the pumps fault, possibly need a bigger pool. I am massively impressed with just how tiny it is and what an effective job it is doing.

Working well even on cloudy days. One thing to be aware of, unless on dead level base water jet will angle and you need a very wide pool to maintain water level. Mine is in a 45cm (18″ in real money) bird bath and on windy days water often needs topping up. Good thing with that is water doesn’t get dirty and clog up pump.

Excellent value for money, the pump works really well , the choice of spray heads are good my only comment on the down side is (in my case) that I had to restrict it’s movement because it floats and my pond is only a large sunken sink it sprayed the water over the sides so a daily top up required, other wise I think it’s worth it.

Good product which was dispatched and arrived with a couple of days from order.. The pump is tiny but powerful, and works very well and consistently with panel in direct sunlight. The water flow can be intermittent in cloud, but generally I am impressed with it. I didn’t use any of the fountain heads, just connected tubing to the pump and up through various sizes of plant saucer. I also wrapped some gauze loosely around the pump to help keep it clean, so I hopefully won’t have to keep dismantling the fountain.

We’ve been using the fountain for two weeks now, and we’re very impressed. Even when we had three successive days of rain and heavy cloud cover, the fountain kept going for most of the day. It’s great that it has its own built-in solar panels and battery, so no need for awkward leads or separate panels. We’ve only used it in clear water so far, without plants, so we can’t vouch for how well the pump will cope with murkier water. But if that’s how you want to use it, then this is great value.

  64. Anonymous says:

Got this having bought another solar powered pond pump that got blocked quickly and didn’t produced enough power to generate a fountain. The difference is striking. It worked straight away with a good flow of water and produces a fountain even when it when it rained (no idea how the solar cell manged to do this but it did). It doesn’t stay on all day naturally but we see it regularly even on cloudy days. Aerates the water quickly, doesn’t seem to get blocked up like other pumps we’ve used and works a treat. One thing yo watch is that the floating base can move around the pond and if not secured can end up spraying water out of the pond which will drain a small pond in a few days. Place it where you want and secure the cable in place with a rock etc to stop it moving. Highly recommended.

Worked well straight out of the box and managed to half empty my patio pond as it drifted to the edge and the water sprayed over the side!
However, since the first day, it’s been a bit stop-start. I think it needs to be removed from the water (it turns itself off automatically) and allowed to charge the battery on good sunny day (when we get one) and then put back in the pond.
The attached photo was taken about 10.00am after it had time to build up a bit of power on an dullish day. It lasted about 10 minutes with a rather weak fountain. When the sun does shine the fountain is more effective.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersWe weren’t sure when we first received this little fountain, I suspect it arrived fully charged then, once spent, it seemed to be less impressive in performance.
However, after a few days and the emergence of some proper sunshine we realized that this is a great addition to our garden pond. Our pond is a natural one; home to frogs, tadpoles, the occasional newt, snails etc, so I was initially concerned that the blockage of the pump filter on the unit might be a problem. It is a very cloudy pond if stirred up, but naturally clean and balanced and there has been no problem with the filter or pump becoming blocked. The pond is fairly large in terms of the smallish fountain unit but with the single-spout attached it’s clearly visible from the house and prettily audible close to.
The video attached shows the fountain gamely spouting away on an all-day all-over cloudy rainy & cold May day (on a bright sunny day the fountain reaches an impressive two feet in height) – I can’t offer a better recommendation.
All in all a great addition to our garden.

I will need to read info on the sellers site that apple’s to all sites I visit. It’s normally
my practice to buy products based on how they look. Problem is products are never
    the size you think.

Well the fountain is now installed in the pond and working. The size of the fountain would be best used in a medium size pound in your back garden. The pound I installed it in is 20ft + X 18ft+ so looks out of place. I would say it’s a good buy and would do well in a garden pound no larger than 4ft X 2ft. I would suggest it would look fantastic with a few pound lights. For me I still give it 10 out of 10.

This product was very easy to assemble! The reason I bought it was to replace a previous cheaper version which didn’t have a rechargable battery which meant that the pump kept going even without the sun! One thing to be cautious about is if you put it out early on in the Spring as we had one night where temperature dropped below freezing and the pump froze too and didn’t start working again until it had thawed out! I was lucky as some pumps are damaged and burn out due to freezing! The suction cups on the underside of the solar pump, I found to be pretty much useless. No matter how I pushed in down in the birdbath it kept coming up off the base!

Really easy to set up and get working. It has x3 small suction pads underneath to keep it in place. I discovered that it’s best to fill with water until it’s almost covering to face of the panel otherwise it floats on one side and water is sprayed out rather than recirculating.
Day 1 set it up and left it charging. Day 2 topped up with water and it instantly kicked into action.
Best to change the “sprinkler” heads before it starts / at the end of the day when it stops – or accept wet arms!
Once the battery is charged it runs well into the evening until it gets darker or the water has gone (if it’s spraying outside the dish.
Only had it 3 days but it seems to be a really neat bit of kit and my good lady was surprised at the power of the spray.
Much easier than having to run wires outside.

    Neat, tidy and powerful.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s early days but so far I am very pleased with this. It sends up a decent spray – just right for my bath tub sized pond and has a variety of spray heads. The solar panel is quite large and provides enough power even when overcast; hopefully it will keep this up. It has a long cable so I could mount it on the fence where it will get more sun than on the ground by the pond. The floating fountain does tend to drift to one edge so it sprays onto the side but we have used stick to hold it in place. My pond it a bit scummy at the moment and this got sucked into the pump and blocked the flow but hopefully as the water clears this will be OK and not need clearing so often.

Nothing readily available to tie a weight on length of cord to stop drifting in pond where spray could go onto garden. Expect others are similar. Otherwise better than previous one without battery backup as stays on when sun dips

We bought this to use in the bird bath.
Unfortunately the bird bath is too shallow
We put in a pot with deeper water and it is lovely.
It has a lovely gentle fountain and looks really pretty in the garden. Great for a small garden water feature.

Brilliant , wouldn’t recommend for a bird bath though as the spray is very high and would soon empty it , if you just have the spout with no spray head it is great , we have it in a small water feature , with the battery’s charging in the sun will still run for up to 4 hours at nigh

Glad I bought one with a battery backup. Had to keep topping it up as water evaporated (in heat) or spilt over the edge. A bigger container would help. A lovely gentle fountain to watch and listen to when it works. Been admired by others who say they will get one.

I love this fountain! Decided on this particular fountain based on other reviews/feedback and I’m pleased I did. Product arrived promptly and securely packaged. Easy to assemble and worked straight away. Have only tried one nozzle design so far but love the fountain effect and the height of the water. Have had the fountain in use for a few days now and I’m impressed with the strength of the solar power.
The bird bath the fountain is currently in (see attached video) is not deep enough so I do have to add more water to keep the fountain working. The fountain has created a more calming and relaxed atmosphere in the garden. I recommend this product and would purchase it again.

Set your expectations – this is a low powered device. That said, it works as well. The flow rate is never great – maybe 2 feet high – but it does manage to operate in low light so almost runs from dawn to dusk. In my pond (tied to weight) it clogs every few days but it’s easy to clear. I would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersBrilliant little fountain! It was working within a couple of minutes of being out of the box. Currently in the bird bath while I try to make a mini water feature. It does take some monitoring in its current position as, as others have commented, it can lose water over the sides of the bird bath due to the breeze or exuberant flow, and the water needs topping up regularly but the effect is so pretty I don’t mind (at the moment!). The pieces fitted together easily and I’m pleased with the quality.

    Brilliant!

IF you use it in clean tap water – don’t put it in your pond as it won’t last a few hours. Quite a good fountain (about a foot high when the sun is on it) but you’ll need to contain it – ours squirts water over the side of the container we’ve concocted!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI like the design for this fountain, but it REALLY needs to be in clean water, not a pond with stuff in it. It worked immediately and was very effective. We have it in our garden pond, however the filter got blocked by the next day. It is easy to clean it out, but you have to do it constantly. So – I attached a fine knit pop sock around the edge, so that any bits are filtered before it gets to the units filter. It is now working really well. You need to appreciate that it is a small motor. It would work well in a shallow dish of clean water. I think in a bird bath it would soon clog up. It continues to work for a while in the shade if it has taken enough charge to top up the battery.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOh my goodness! I LOVE this! I’ve popped mine in the bird bath but would be great in any large container pot or pond in the garden, as a watery addition. It’s literally take out the box and push one of the varieties of spouts on. As soon as it touches the water it starts working! Large variety of spouts for height and shape and holds charge from the day even when overcast a little, to tinkle into the evening. Rather tempted to buy another one for elsewhere in the garden

I also meant to add that you can easily clean the spout area and battery pack area if flow stops because of bits of leaf of flower falling in. I just stick the hose up to the empty hole on the top; no nozzle on the fountain or hose pipe and just give it a blast through.

    Love this!!

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersRead lots of reviews before settling on this one, so glad I did. Put it together in 30 seconds and popped it in the pond not expecting much considering the sun is nowhere to be seen and it’s overcast and raining. Within a minute it had started to build up to the fountain in the picture. Will definitely recommend. Can’t wait to see this in full sunlight.

I chose this product because of the fast delivery during CV19. Came promptly and was so easy to assemble within 10 mins it was unpacked and running in my large tub “pond”. Only disappointment is that today it is cloudy but still bright and it is not running. The battery (I think) should have had some charge left in it. This was the reason I went for a slightly dearer product. As I cannot sit out in hot weather I wonder how much I will get to see it!

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersFantastic fountain! Works really well but be aware that it is quite powerful! The bird bath or bowl that you use needs to have a wide circumference otherwise a fair amount of water is lost over the side. My bird bath couldn’t cope with that problem so I tried a terracotta plant pot. I first had to plug the hole in the bottom using polythene and stones but the water still tends to shoot over the edge. Once enough water has ‘escaped’ the fountain stops due to the lack of water in the container.
I really like the way you can either float the fountain or stick it onto a suitable surface below the water.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersFor me one of the best features is that the pump runs from a separate solar panel. The panel is 275 x 175 mm (bigger than I expected) and is on a long lead so you can place it where is catches the sun best. If you want to use the fountain in a bird-bath, however, you might find the trailing lead a disadvantage. The black disc is merely a float; you don’t have to use it because there are suckers on the underside of the pump. I have the pump attached to a sheet of glass using the suckers and it seems quite secure. I can even slide it about on the glass without detaching it. I haven’t tried all the spray heads but the 9-hole head produces a pleasing spray of about 50cm height. The single-hole nozzle will “pee” to a respectable 1 metre height. I’ve had the fountain working at 8pm (in Northern England in May) without any direct sun. The solar panel probably doesn’t produce enought juice to charge the Li-ion battery under these conditions but it’s enough to run the fountain.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersWe have had this 3.5w pump for over a year; it replaced a lower wattage pump if similar design. It’s much better made and more robust than our previous pumps; the pump stops working if blocked which extends it’s life however if your water feature is in semi shade it’s not the best.

We’ve moved this into the sun in the bird bath and the birds couldn’t be happie

4.0 out of 5 stars Great in full sunshine

Good product keeps going on dull days , needs a 6 feet (2M) diameter pond as when the wind blows it will spray over the edge and drain the pond.

Golden Review Award: 62 From Our UsersWe bought one of these solar fountains to replace another from a different brand. That had been similar in style but failed after only one day, so we looked around and replaced it with this. It worked perfectly straight from the box and has behaved well over the 6 weeks we’ve had it. It is quiet in operation with the motor hardly audible, and there’s a light sound from the water falling. It doesn’t sound as loud as some fountains since the water doesn’t fall very far (about 30 – 40cm), and sometimes it lands on the solar panel rather than into the basin of water.

We find that most days the fountain runs when there is light and then switches itself off whilst it recharges enough to operate again. When the sun is out and shining on the solar panel it will run continuously, but on a typical British day there is some on/off. A tip is to remove the fountain from the water in the morning before going to work, and then replace it in the water again on return. That way it has all day to recharge since the motor won’t run when the fountain is out of the water, and instead it runs all evening into the darkness whilst we’re at home to enjoy it. We’re very pleased with this fountain and recommend it.

    Very pleased with this fountai
