The purpose of my purchase was for snorkelling in Hawaii and capture sea turtles. The battery life is great, we used it for at least 3 hours uninterrupted and still kept using it the day after. The waterproof case had absolutely no issues, the buttons worked fine. I had no issues with the sd card as well, got a 32 gb one and formatted it as mentioned in the instructions. So overall, no need to buy pricy ones, this camera is very good for many applications.

No need for a pricy one, this one works perfectly!

The image quality and stabilisation is one of the best things about this camera. It’s also very small and easy to take around and easy to set up

Bought this camera for cheaper alternative to GoPro. Does exactly what it was needed for, it comes with a good variety of mounts

    Great for underwater photos

The camera was well made, easy to use and took great pictures and videos. We used it on holiday all the time. We used under water, as a normal camera, video recorder and was not disappointed

Obviously you are not getting a GoPro, but for the price I have zero complaints. The image quality is great for the price and it made the perfect companion for trips where I don’t want to bring along expensive gea

Good, robust construction coupled with affordable price. The AKASCO Brave 4 has served me well in a number of challenging environments. Battery life good as is the fact that two batteries are included.
Recommended purchase. You won’t be disappointed.

I ordered the Brave 4 to capture videos of my motorbike rides, and I can say it has been a joy to use.
The video quality is great for what you pay for. Considering the cost of a GoPro, this camera is an easier way into action cams, without losing a lot of features, i.e. stabilization. It also comes with a nice array accessories and attachments.

I was thinking of buying a GoPro, but the price is too high and wasn’t ready to invest so much money. After some research I decided to go for AKASO and I was really surprised by the quality of the photos. Package arrived absolutely fine and on time with lot of accessories included.
I have used the camera for one summer now and I am really pleased with it. Looking forward to taking more photos soon!

Brought this action camera for our annual ski trip, but I will be using this for biking, underwater summer holidays and other activities as it is very easy to use. The only aspect I would say it was annoying would be the battery of the remote controller that seems to last just a few days.

I will update this review next month – once I get chance to use the camera on my motorcycle, which I keep in Croatia. Ordered one day delivered the next with no issues except that I got a message from Amazon saying it wasn’t going to be delivered for another 3 x days due to an unforeseen hold up anyway it arrived within 24 x hours of ordering It seems to be of good build quality and well made I’ll have more to say once it’s been used a few times.

Not going to lie I was a little dubious about this product, could this be as good as other brands that cost 10x as much as this, honestly I wasn’t expecting it to be at best I was expecting poor battery life, poor quality video etc etc BUT no the camera it self is actually rather good quality, easy to use, light and the battery life surprisingly longer than said in the ad doing a time lapse video a single battery lasted almost 2 and half hours before needing charging. The batteries however do take a long time to charge fully a good 3/4 hours but at least you get two batteries included with the camera and you can buy spares realtively cheap too if you wanted more, plus all the extra fittings and attachments included you get with it are quite well made thought maybe they would be quite fragile but do the job and free unlike a certain more popular well known branded camera where they would cost you extra, and added bonus everything that fits the well known brand fits this too. If your thinking about it just buy it you won’t regret it. (Video added is in 1080p format)

Bought this to replace my ageing SjCam4000, and what a step up it is.
Although I have yet to try every feature on it, the video and photos are great and easy to use.
Don’t get me wrong its no Gopro, but if you aren’t going to watch your videos blown up on a 4K screen I doubt you would notice.
Considering that with the camera you get the accessories including the case for underwater filming its spot on.
Also a big plus is that all the accessories including the batteries from my SJ400, are compatible with this camera.

I bought this as my case for a Sjcam M10 snapped. But couldn’t get a replacement case. So I bought an ape man which was shockingly bad, so bought this model instead and I’m happily saying its as easy, usable and stable as my old sjcam. It’s worked flawlessly with no hickups at all. I loved my old sjcam so it has to be as good or better and this brave 4 is on the dot. Great item. But struggling to find a back up case .

It’s a beauty. It takes good pictures and video. Taking video @24fps is great for me as I work in animation and I don’t have to use other softwares to convert it to 24fps.
The only downside I felt was the battery slot cover. It felt a bit flimsy and you need to be very careful with it. Otherwise I’m. Happy for what it is.

Perfect for use on my motorbike (I don’t have the sound recording so using the waterproof case doesn’t cause me any issues). Battery life seems about the same as all the others (none of these cameras will last all day on one battery when videoing) and certainly covers my commute to work and back. Not sure if I will use most of the accessories but good to have them as you never know where you might use it in the future. My only issue is that I was looking for a spare waterproof case to modify (didn’t want to break the one I have) and most cases I have found appear to have the front mode button too high for this mode and this includes the only one available on the Akaso website.

This is a neat little camera for a reasonable price. I got it today so it hasn’t gone outdoors yet, however indoor testing shows good picture quality, lots of options and a good number of accessories to mount the camera differently. My one complaint so far is that the written instructions are not as easy to follow as they could be, and that occasionally they are inaccurate.

I was looking for a action cam for going on holiday to use in the sea and pool but was not willing to pay go pro prices, with lockdowns holiday was out of the question but had heavy snow the other day and the cam worked get every picture was crisp and the stability was great with the case on I had the peace of mind I would not damage the cam.
Great cam well worth the money

Very pleased with this camera. Although I bought it for myself, it is so well presented – the packaging has a transparent curved display containing the camera and the remote – that it would make an excellent gift. It takes my SanDisk Extreme 128 GB microSDXC Memory Card, no problem. You can download the camera’s manual from the Akaso website. The cute little battery charger is surprisingly useful – don’t have to put the camera out of action just to recharge a battery. Love the 5x Zoom – useful still images of nearby subjects. Buttons are easy once you get some practice – 2 presses of the Mode button gets you into the Playback mode, another press to enter Setup, one more to return to recording mode. Once in Playback, press the Up or Down button for about 3 seconds, and you can choose to delete the current image, or cancel. Select the trash can, and you get the choice to delete the single image or all. There are many menu items, but a lot of them can be set once and left alone. The Date/Time sets automatically when you connect to the Wi-fi app (I used Camking Pro, which works fine). I found the Date & Time kept their settings long enough to change the battery. You can also control the camera from the app – record videos, take still pictures, adjust the settings and view it’s contents, which you can copy to your phone or delete if required. Looking forward to better days when I can get out on the nature trails!
The remote is very useful, and it works from a fairly long distance.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much for the price, especially after reading some of the reviews, but I have to admit, I love it.
Setting up is super easy, and having 2 batteries is a bonus, not to mention all the accesories that came with it.
It’s nice and compact, and allthe controls are easy to get to. The menu is easy to navigate and set up too.
I use it mainly as a dash cam, and the video quality and image stabilisation are excellant. I’ve set it up on my bike with no problems at all. On some rough terrain the image stabalisation can suffer, but thats to be expected.
All in all, I’m very satisfied with it.
For the money I think its excellant. It does evrything I need, with the quality of video I want.

I found this product to be good over all – the picture quality and stabilisation is great. You have to find the user manual online, but once you’ve downloaded it it’s easy to follow and there is a good YouTube video of what all the accessories are and how to use them., The only thing i would say is that the add on parts are quite brittle – as i went to take the camera off my bike helmet the clip snapped (you have to squeeze the clip together to release it).

Really good value for money. Excellent quality picture for the price. Only issue is although the camera comes with a wide range of mounting accessories, there wasn’t a curved adhesive pad like others include. This meant that it was very difficult to mount to my motorcycle helmet. I managed to get it to stick to the top where it is at its flattest but it would have been nice to have had a curved mount for the side of the helmet. Other than that it is really good.

I got about 90 minutes out of a single battery which is quite decent.

The audio isn’t the best but that wasn’t a requirement for me. I wouldn’t get this if you need 100% clean audio. As it stands, it will do and it will record adequate audio but there is a lot of wind noise.

This is my first action camera but owning a dash cam from Akaso I knew this would live up to its description. Package arrived, unpacked, batteries charged but how do I test it at this time of self isolation. Simple. attach it to the front of my 9 yr old sons bike and get him to belt up and down the middle of our with our quiet cul de sac doing all of the things normally a parent doesn’t want to see . Test & exercise so two birds with one stone. Using the remote we made 8 films, took a load of stills. Connected to my phone and downloaded them. They were excellent… I could even hear what he was saying over the metallic sounds from the bike…. I have bought this to use with our canoe and when snorkelling abroad… Great camera at a brilliant price. Highly recommended.

For the price, this action camera is an absolute must. The quality of the picture is fantastic, and the 20MP makes selfies look great. I love the fact it works under water and would highly recommend. The accessories such as the wristband are extremely useful and I can’t wait to take it to South America with me. Only downside is that the wristband doesn’t work under water (minor issue) and no selfie stick is included in the extra 14 in 1 accessories pack.

Otherwise, this action camera trumps the rest in terms of quality and cost and I recommend buying this first, before considering the much greater fee of a Gopro which is really not much better.

Bought this camera to use for snorkelling but haven’t been on holiday yet. The camera appears quite easy to set up although had to use online YouTube videos to help as the manual is quite basic. Can be slow to set up all the settings at the beginning but once set you shouldn’t need to change them that often as you can turn the WiFi on/off using the up/down buttons on the side (as described in the manual). Have tried putting the camera under water on a selfie stick can confirm that the case is definitely waterproof. The photos and videos I have taken so far in a murky pond look good, quite stable and it does record sound through the case. Struggled a little using the remote but that might improve with practice. Couple of things which would improve the camera is if the battery cover were on a hinge and easier to open as can be quite difficult to remove and am worried I might lose it. It would also help if the settings you need to change most often were at the top of the list. You also have to be careful when moving from dark to light as you get `white out` at times. Plenty of accessories come with the camera but I bought an additional pack so I had the floating mount, chest strap and selfie stick which I thought would help when snorkelling. I would also suggest spending some time getting used to the settings and buttons before you use it as I keep forgetting which is the on/off/mode button (front) and which is the start/stop/take a photo button (top) as you can’t see the labelling when it’s in the case. I would also suggest keeping it in the waterproof case for protection as being small it’s easy to drop. Overall it appears to be a good little camera for the price.

Further to my comment below. Via Amazon I got in contact with the supplier directly and after a few checks a new item has been supplied and so far its worked fine. My contact with the supplier was very good and the 4 star is simply because the camera has not yet been use for snorkling

Bought for a holiday foolishly never used before we went ! After the return date. It had never worked a “Low Battery” notice appears after turning on then it shuts-down. Tried two sets of batteries. If supplier would like to send a replacement or advise how to reset I will be grateful

Have used the camera multiple times now in the day and night. Would have been great to have a night setting as i use it on my bicycle for commuting, but overall great. Accessories are varied and good. Be careful when detaching the camera from the base for the first time. I used a philips head to remove it from the stand, but it was machine tight out of the factory. I added WD40 to lubricate, but not even this worked, and i burred the bolt. Eventually i had to use a pair of pliers and i was very lucky not to have cracked the plastic. Other then this warning for new purchasers great quality.

Used in anger yesterday on my MTB on and off road, seriously impressed with the video quality (1080p 60fps – didn’t bother with 4k) and the IS was far better than expected. On road the videos were perfectly watchable and over a very rocky off road section they were viewable without inducing instant nausea, so that’s a first.
The first battery survived over a 80minute ride and still had charge left, I changed to the 2nd battery for the return and it also managed over 90mins so the batteries are good and Akaso weren’t lying about run time (another first!)
Overall I am very happy with this camera – a step change up from my previous GoPro (the cheapy Hero) I’m happy to believe the more expensive GoPros will give better results but not enough (IMHO) to justify the price tag. The provided accessories are a useful bonus too.

I received the AKASO Brave 4 Camera through post very quickly, and pleased to find it was straightforward to set up with the online instructions. The plastic cover for where the battery is inserted is really tricky to remove and has been slightly squashed upon trying to open the cap, I had seen from the reviews that this is an issue for most. I would recommend possibly using a tweezer to remove the clip as I found it almost impossible to do by hand, without damaging the flimsy plastic covering.
Apart from this problem the camera so far has been great. I have not had the chance to test it out underwater yet, however I’m planing to take it with me on holiday very soon and will update then! The image stabilisation and quality is pretty good for the price of the camera, if you’re looking to have a nice simple action camera to take with you for your holidays I think this will do the trick without breaking the bank.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersCan’t go wrong with the price. I did a lot of research before going with the Brave 4. I used to have a Go Pro for scuba diving but I sold that years ago. This was just for cycling so I have video evidence when a car hits me, something they seem to want to do with some frequency.
The camera itself is great. I haven’t tried to use the remote yet or any advanced functions, I have just put a time/date stamp on the video and use it to record my journey.
The one downside is that although the box contains a load of accessories, the plastic used in all the clips is absolutely useless. All of the quick release clips have broken just from general use. In the end, I gave up on the quick release and used the handlebar attachment to permanently keep the waterproof casing attached. I now only remove the camera from the housing.

I should note that there was a note in the box to say if I give a 5 star rating, I can pick a free accessory like another pair of batteries. That might be useful but to be honest, the two batteries that come with it are sufficient for my use and I’m not going to lie on a review. The camera itself I would give 5 stars but the attachment accessories let it down.
That said, I have no buyer’s remorse. The camera was well worth the money.

I was looking for an action camera for a specific upcoming trip but did not want to spend ‘GoPro’ money.
I’m so glad I found this camera. Fantastic movie and stills quality and supplied with almost all the accessories I will need. The controls are nice and easy and the screen has good info layout so you always know what settings you are using. I think supplying 2 rechargeable batteries is a nice touch and the charger is tiny, I carry the whole kit in a small camera case. I have already recommended the Brave to a couple of friends and look forward to using it to give some lasting memories of my upcoming trip.

I haven’t had an action camera before so I can’t make comparisons, but I am an amateur video creator, using Panasonic V500 and more lately, Nikon D7200.

On my initial test shoot I set WB to “sunshine” and the resulting picture was wildly green with lack of red and it took me a lot of trouble to make colour correction afterward.
when set to “cloudy” the were better but still over at the green/yellow end. Somehow the camera switched back to Auto white balance and the colour issue was gone, so now it’s left always on auto.

Interestingly, continual recording seems to reset the counter every 3min and also a new file is created every 3min – it made me wonder if I hadn’t been filming when I thought I was, when I saw the counter at 1min!

    Pros
-Video picture quality: very good even at 19colours20p (with sharpness turned up), I don’t have screens to display 2K or 4K.
-Of course its size and weight is ideal
-the water proof enclosure keeps the cam dry in water
-good battery life if you turn off between shooting, but you’ll need min 4 batt’s for a day trip.

    cons
-the mic hardly picks up any sound while the waterproof enclosure is used
-the enclosure makes condensation in the lens area when shooting continuously as the camera heats up, and it must be opened up to let the vapour escape (I am in a humid tropical country though)
-date resets to year 2000 with every battery swap and it takes 5min to set again -so I settle to record with no timestamp on my raw clips
-not enough visible indicatiion of film recording especially out in bright sunshine
-low batt warning gets recorded to video
-screen turns off after a minute of recording needing a press to get it back on (and pressing top button to show display makes rubbery sound on the video)
-new file created at every 3min, with last second of previous file copied onto the new file start!
    -rubbish still images
-the battery can get loose and the camera can’t power on

Should you buy one? Yes indeed!

For the prive of the product and the fact the delivery was fast, and came with all sorts of fixtures for all kinds sport, the packedging was well organised and designed as well, the camera came with simple and easy to follow initial setup instructions as well. Also the charger is a simple mirco usb. Now on to the camera it self, personally i thought the picture quality was excellent even in weird lighting as well, the use of the camera was also self intuitive and easily worked out. Although i bought the camera for my motorcycle and the quality is good however due to the lense the image is zoomed out, but its not the cameras fault. Also the wireless remote is highly responsive and great.

Having had a cheap camera (rubbish) and then a Go-pro (great) I was in two minds whether to invest in this mid price camera. I was pleasantly surprised. It feels solid, the controls are intuitive and fairly simple. I’ve used it on a RIB where it was soaked and it performed well. I have not dived with it yet but it seems quite robust. The picture quality is good and whilst others have mentioned the problems with sound, this did not bother me as I usually use this in situations and sports where I’m not speaking. There are many extras and the remote control is a brilliant idea. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars as the remote is not water proof. I can understand why it’s not depth rated but I’ve mounted this on a boat and remote control would have been very useful but I have’t chanced it. Otherwise I’m very pleased and recommend it highly.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased the camera primarily for an upcoming trip to South Africa. I have a Canon DSLR with good video capabilities but it seemed a good idea to have something that was small, discrete and that I could just set going (e.g. on a game drive) and leave (editing the files later to remove unwanted footage). I did quite a bit of review reading and purchased this camera. I subsequently used it on a trip to Kiev which included a day visiting the Chernobyl exclusion zone so was able to give it a thorough run through its paces.

I should start by pointing out that this is a camera package for under 80 – you perhaps should not expect it to perform to the level of units costing 3 or 4 times more.

    Plus points;
Good picture quality, a selection of video formats (allowing adjustment of quality versus recording time); fantastic range of accessories as supplied; selection of picture angles (the widest is 170 deg and gives a good field of view), brilliantly small, cheap enough that, in the event of an accident, you aren’t going to worry too much about damage, able to be controlled from your mobile/tablet via an app, comes with a basic wrist worn remote that allows you to start and stop video and take still photos.

    Points to watch;
It stores videos as a series of 3 minute files – just something to watch as you need to stitch longer files together with some sort of editor.
I have seen people criticising the construction. It’s an 80 camera! If you don’t have decent finger nails you will need some sort of small tool (e.g. screw driver) to get the microSD card in and out and also access the battery compartment. The cover for the latter is not attached in any way so you do need to to be careful not to drop and lose it.
When in waterproof housing, you get little or no audio. Fair enough you don’t really hear under water and if you create a seal you have no air transmission path for the sound anyway. If you want to protect the camera from moisture whilst, say, skiing, my suggestion would be to buy a second housing and make a small hole in it where the microphone is. Note that this camera does NOT support an external mic (some of the more expensive Akaso models do). It also only records in mono.
I did see a review that said the mounting frame did not fit. Mine did so if this was an issue, Akaso have obviously responded to feedback and dealt with it.
The manual supplied doesn’t have very much info. There is a much better version on line.

My only real criticism would be that I would have liked to have seen a lens cover supplied. I keep the camera in a soft bag to avoid scratching the lens but a small plastic cap would be better (perhaps I can 3D print one!)

Overall I am delighted with the camera and I have confident it will brilliantly fulfill the role for which I purchased it.

Despite this nifty action cam feeling a bit cheap, because of the plastic casing, it is in actual fact great value for the price!
Everything was delivered in time and with all the accessories, of which there are a tonne! After just a few minutes of playing around with it, I quickly felt confident that I could shoot the right kind of videos I was intending to shoot. For reference for those wondering about storage, I use a 64GB SD card. If filming at 4K I will get about 30mins of recordings,. Then for every bracket you go down, in terms of quality, you gain an extra 10minutes ish of recording. So filming in 2K gives you about 40mins of recording time.

Good little camera that surprised us when we got back home of how good the picture quality is. We took this on a sailing trip around the Maldives it was used everyday for snorkeling and shallow diving and the footage of the coral reefs and marine life has very good sound recording and image quality. We never got round to using the wristband remote control as we found all the buttons really easy to use. I would say this product does lack clear instructions, it does come with a manual but it is not very consistent or helpful and we had to experiment the first day to try and figure out how to use i

I wanted an action camera that I could take with me on my holiday. I had compared this with E7000 Pro and decided that this was better (I did not want to pay as much for the V50 Elite which is way better and am hoping that they come out with the Brave6 soon). The delivery was quick as I had ordered it only a couple of days before my holiday. Coming to the product itself, I needed something that I could use around the beaches and this did not disappoint as it is really good at shooting videos at Full HD. I did not need to change the quality from 1080p 60fps as videos came out really great at that, so I cannot give feedback about 4K video quality (though I might test this during my next holiday just to check). Next I would like to mention about the Image Stabilization. I used it on a boat ride in the sea and the video was not too jumpy. Considering that it is EIS and not OIS, I think it was decent but could have been better. Hopefully they would come out with an action camera that has OIS. I cannot give feedback about the remote control as I did not use that (would probably do that in the next holiday). I used a Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 GB memory card and it was good enough with the action camera, though I was slightly disappointed that 64 GB is the maximum capacity that you can use with this action camera (I did read that in the specifications, so I knew this before purchasing the product). I have not added any videos from my holiday as they as the size is too big.

So overall it has been a really good action camera if you consider the price and would recommend this product.

NB: I would like to let you know that I am an amateur, so those looking for a professional feedback please look elsewhere.

This is the first action cam I have ever bought. I was tempted with the higher priced cameras out there, but after reading some reviews and watching some videos, I opted for this camera.
The picture quality is excellent, it picks up sound great and you get a bunch of accessories with it too!
My only minor gripe is there is no guidance as to what all those accessories can be used for, which would be helpful. The batteries aren’t great, but they are acceptable (about an hour of use each) and you get two.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally not pleased with this product, as a video camera it’s great HD and 4K come out great, however there is a ridiculous placement of a mute button on the side needless to say my wife and I now have 2 hours of holiday video with no audio. Other than a small icon on the lcd display there’s no indication of a muted video so be warned! The photo function is ok not amazing, it won’t compete with a modern smartphone for quality. Ours also has a broken up button which we now have discovered so make sure you check all the buttons and functions apon delivery. If you want to take a gamble get this camera but please remember the dreaded mute button……

UPDATE: AKASO-EU have contacted me since and have been really good about the issues I have faced with the product. Not only have they sent me a replacement they have refunded me some of the cost of the camera as a good will gesture, something they didn’t really have to do since they sent me a replacement. The replacement works great with all the buttons, functions and quality working as expected. The mute button is still something to be careful of but I’m sure this could be fixed with a firmware update in the future. Thanks again to the customer services team at AKASO-EU.

There’s no doubt these are incredible value for money when compared to official GoPro’s. My intended use for this camera is to use it for snorkelling and diving, which I have not done so yet.
Played around a little with some video and it seems pretty good. This is my first action camera so I can’t compare it to anything else. Image seemed to be fairly stable and a smooth framerate.
Using the mobile app is fairly simple, however I would have liked to have a choice as to where the downloaded files get saved to, rather than it saving to phone memory by default.
Still pictures taken are not the sharpest or best colours, but most people will have a phone with comparible or better cameras.

I was bought the Akaso Brave 4 camera as a Christmas present from my wife, having mentioned a few times about having an action camera for my motorbike. As the go-pro’s are expensive and I couldn’t justify paying lots of money for something I wouldn’t be using all the time. Plenty of reviews on line were all showing positive vibes.
Upon first looking at it, I was impressed with the build quality and all the different mounts and accessories that it comes with. There is such a range of fixings to suit everyone and everything.
When turning on and using, I find it pretty user friendly and the camera does not disappoint. The 4k video captures everything perfectly and very easy to click to record when moving whether it’s by the simplest of camera buttons or on the handy little wrist strap with the camera and video button on.
Overall I am really happy with the camera and find myself using it a lot more than I initially thought I would of. I would definitely recommend to anybody who’s looking for an action camera.

This is the first action camera I have bought so had nothing to really compare it to. I took it out on a walking tour when it was bucketing down, the camera quality was great in light conditions, it was obviously in it’s waterproof case. I was a bit disappointed to realise when I got home that there is little to no sound caught by the camera when the case is on. I stupidly recorded part of my daughter’s birthday in the house with the case on, this was before I realised the lack of sound issue…..it could become a problem when we plan to take it to a couple of waterparks on holiday. The quality is not great when it was in low light conditions, but to be fair I won’t be using it that often in those conditions.

Overall it is a great camera, comes with loads of accessories, 2 batteries and the charger. I had to look on youtube for a guide on what the accessories were, and almost threw one out which was attached to the packing case given the lack of infoinstructions which come with it regarding the accessories.

For the price I cannot complain and will suit me for what I need it for, the sound issue with the waterproof case on will be the biggest issue, there might be a workaround which I do not know about yet.

Finally an action cam that is suitable for my needs. Tried the EK 7000, first was damaged and second no good as it saved files in .mov so made it a pain to upload or share. I then ordered the Bravo 4 and thankfully, all seems good. Good quality videos, easy to use, plenty of accessories including waterproof housing and remote and battery life is better than I expected too.

Good value for money too. I really didn’t want a GoPro because I couldn’t justify spending that much but this one is a fraction of the price and in my opinion does the job just as well.

Not tried it in low light yet but most action cams struggle in that area anyway.

Firstly, let me state that I’ve nothing to do with the company and I’ve had a go pro for about 5 years so I know how the leading competitor works. Thats why it was such a surprise when I decided to try and upgrade my Hero3plus but couldn’t afford the new GoPro 7 so I tried this AKASO Bravo 4. It has surpassed every expectation I had. if I was blindfold i wouldn’t know it wasn’t a GoPro. Everything from the packaging, the products and its attachments are first rate. It is simple to operate, battery life is good, picture quality is excellent for the price. Nothing more to add, how good this product is for the price will shock you.

The hardware is pretty good a 170 degree lens you can crop down if you want a smaller frame. There’s no touch screen, but they don’t work through waterproof cases anyway and the menus navigate easily enough with the three buttons on the camera. I think I prefer that. There’s image stabilization you can run with or without a gyro which uses more battery. It’s good to have but not up to the IS you’d get on expensive hardware. At the price I’m happy.
It comes with a lot of mounts. They are sound enough and they did work straight from the box, but the hinge mouldings were better after some judicious filing with a diamond nail file. Didn’t need so much tightening to be secure after that. It comes with 2 batteries, but no SD card. If you review it then you can claim a load of extra stuff, either more batteries more mounting kit or something else I can’t recall. (Disclosure — I’m going to screenshot this review and claim the extra mounting kit, you could too if you want an extra harness etc.)
They recommend you download an app called CamKing to download from the camera to your phone. I got it working with my android phone, it’s OK, but it’s not great. I’ve read that other apps will work with it too, but not tried them yet. WIFI is slow anyway so I just use the usb cable to download to a PC for editing.

I’d recommend unless you have a lot more money to spend, they’ve crammed in so much at the price.

I bought this for holidays later this year. I have taken some pictures and videos with it to test and I am very impressed with the quality. I find the sound is a little low during playback but this may be due to my pc on which I am using for playback. I bought a 64GB Integral ultima pro memory card for it and it works perfect. There are plenty of features on the camera including a 5x zoom , time lapse, burst shooting and self timer.
Overall this is a great little camera and would definitely recommend it if you were thinking of buying a GoPro or something similar as it is a fraction of the cost an there are lots of accessories you can get for it too.

I was after an action camera for motocross. My son has a GoPro and there is very little difference in the overall quality. I didn’t want to spend hundreds of pounds. After some research I found the Akaso range of cameras. Initially I was going to go with the EK7000 mainly due to the amount of positive reviews. However, I could afford a little more and decided to buy the Brave 4. It come well packaged with many accessories, fixtures and fittings. The instruction booklet isn’t particularly well documented, but a search engine/YouTube helps. Sound is OK when not in the waterproof housing and I have concerns that the battery compartment door is somewhat fragile. I note that some reviews mention the non-waterproof clip, used for securing camera to a tripod, selfie stick etc, that the camera rattles making it not feel secure and the knocking is picked up by the microphone. I found this not to be a problem, so I don’t know if that has been sorted out. The camera app suggested in the manual is the one to use, as some reviews/YouTube suggest another, but they won’t work. App works well once you have worked out how to use it. If you want to download to a computer, just plug in a micro USB cable, turn on camera and the device will be seen as another device, simply drag and drop. I would recommend formatting the SD Card in the camera, via the camera. For the money, I’m happy.

Just received this camera. The camera itself is great and well worth the money. Only problem I have had is the remote which does not seem to work? I have sent an email to the manufacturer and awaiting a reply will update.
Update just checked the battery in the remote and is totally flat. Had to purchase some batteries from Amazon, not happy with that but still think the camera is excellent.
Further Update: Customer service were brilliant. After putting a new battery in the remote it works great and Akaso refunded me the price of the batteries plus another 5 which I am more than happy with. Not really used the camera on a action shoot yet but sure it will be great as the video is great during the tests I have done so far. The free accessory bundle is on way for leaving a review.
Just to clarify something a reviewer on Amazon has stated. Yes you get a free gift if you review the camera, you do not have to give 5* to get the gift. They are after feedback for their products and even a 1* is helping them improve their product and you will get the gift no matter what. Before anyone says “no I do not have any connection with this company. Before I bought this camera I had never heard of them. But very happy with product and customer service”.

Better than expected. I read and watched reviews about many different action cameras but only this one had so many positive opinions. I purchased two of them. One is in my car and the other one is with me all the time. My main reason for getting them is airsoft. There is plenty of attachments straight out of the box (i honestly didn’t expect them to be good quality but i was wrong) This camera comes with 2 batteries and USB charger. Not even GoPro offer portable charger. 2 batteries last for about 2 hours and 30 minutes. You can shoot 4k (i didn’t try it yet) but all I care about is 1080p 60fps. I highly recommend this camera. You won’t be disappointed.

Very good action camera for fracture of the cost.

I was given this for xmas this year after suggesting it as potentially the best option for me. I’ve only used it a few times so far but my primary use is to record the commute to work on my bike. I have had enough close shaves with vehicles and pedestrians to want to have some form of evidence should any crash occur. I have a 7 mile ride both ways and the camera has performed perfectly so far. The instructions could be better on how to use the various mounts but you can figure it out after some messing around. It’s easy to operate and the remote works well although I’m still not an expert user, and have somehow not recorded a few rides perhaps more to do with user error than the camera itself but I’m sure more than a weeks use will sort that. In my opinion the images and sound rival the GoPro and can’t see why there is a such a difference in price – only time will tell I guess. This is defo worth the money though and does exactly what I hoped.

I received the Camera for Christmas and have just used it on a Skiing holiday. The picture quality of the video is good even though I only used 1080p at 60fps. I’m not an avid video taker so can’t comment in detail but the picture appeared steady without shaking.
The battery seemed to last as stated. I used the straps to fix it to my helmet but will be looking for a curved clamp to attach it using the adhesive pads. The clamps included were all flat so not appropriate for a helmet.

The remote wrist strap to take pictures and turn on video was really useful but could have been improved by a loader indication from the camera that it had received the command. This was hampered by the fact that I had a helmet which covered my ears.

In summary I would certainly buy this again.

I bought this camera for my future son in law, as he’s taken up cycling and was keen to record his trips. One of the key differentiators for purchasing this one was the remote control wrist worn device. This means he can change position and shot without having to stop and take the helmet off and adjust it – big advantage over mates without this feature! The manual gives an estimated battery life/recording time of 30 minutes, but first time out he was really chuffed to get nearly 90 minutes of recording from one session. The transfer to phone and to pc was easy and the quality – especially to the pc – was really good. The camera is robust without being too heavy, easy to use, and the remote control means you get the best possible experience from every ride. Its such a neat size and weight it’s going to play a starring role in the upcoming wedding, for the dog’s eye view of the proceedings! Overall he’s really pleased with the camera, and I’m delighted to have purchased something so good for such a reasonable price. Definitely recommended for those wanting to record outdoor activities with a smart, reasonably priced camera.

Bit of background first – I use a Mobility Scooter, but like to get about off the beaten track with my big cameras, and wanted something to record the journey without my having to do anything. I received this camera as a Xmas present, and tried it out on the scooter, going over rough pavements, roads and even down a very uneven mud track.
Now, the mounting I was using was very Heath Robinson, and about 6″ tall, so the camera was pinging and bouncing around atop it…. I’ve got a very much better mounting on the way, but being the (non) patient sort, couldn’t wait to try the camera out. I honestly thought the camera would not be able to cope with all the frantic movements and all I’d see on screen later would be a blur.

Not a bit of it. Although as stated, the camera was bouncing about, the video is perfectly clear – the image stabilisation system works really, really well. Once I’ve got a decent mounting with rubber bushes on the scooter, I reckon it will be close to perfect. The GoPro series are supposed to have the best image stabilisation, but if they’re better than this than I’ll be surprised. At less than a third of the current GoPro price, this Akaso camera has to be a steal of the year.

I have used this to record squash matches by attaching to the rear glass back of a squash court. Quality of the picture is great and the angle is perfect for full coverage. The associated phone app – CamKing Pro is pretty flakey though and it can be frustrating getting the connection with the camera and the app freezes pretty regularly. I will probably ditch the app and only use the provided remote control and manual on-camera controls.

A few general points having never had/used an action camera before:

    — Pleasantly surprised at how small it is.
    — Found the wrist band swithes great for starting/stopping recording.
    — You can set screen to turn off whilst recording continues – good as means more battery for recording.
    — A bit chunkier once in its water proof box, and with attachements fitted.
    — What it is/does is actually very similar to my dashcam.
    — Instructions are good – colour and english and the whole thing is straightforward to get to the point of shooting footage.
    — The giroscopic software seems to do a good job and smoothing the movement out.

    — Points to bear in mind:
    — It wont record sound when in the waterproof case (it cant hear).
    — Lack of a lense cover: the instructions remind you not to damage to platic disk/front to the water proof case (in front of the lense), but there is no cap/cover…which means I cant simply put it in my bag unles the whole thing is in another case.
    — It records in 3minute long chunks of video

Great Action Camera for the cyclist !
Hours of research- After being cut up by a driver who was overtaking me and then turned off left in front of me as he was overtaking I found myself on the curb rather than impact and going airborne-
No surprise that such a driver did not stop!
That was the point that I decided I needed a forward facing Camera on my cycle.
AKASO Brave4 ticks all The boxes with accessories included for a great price compared to the other Well Known Action Camera brand that wouldn’t have these bonus accessories.
2 batteries included gives me full power for each way of my commute and recording At night at 1080 30FPS is a very good quality video as is daylight recording should you need evidence of dangerous drivers.
I wish I had made the purchase a long time before now- at this price it is an absolute bargain !
WiFi connection to iPhone using the Camking app shows the quality of the recording and makes sharing by email/YouTube/Facebook etc so much quicker and easier (if you struggle as I did to connect the WiFi there is a short YouTube video to help).
Really happy with this purchase all the features and quality you could need.

Given the level of functionality, number of accessories and connectivity with a mobile phone all for the price of 90 what’s not to like. The camera is very easy to use, i had it attached to my helmet and filming in know time at all, the ability to view what your camera see’s on the phone makes setting the field of view very easy and takes a portion of the guess work out. There are a lot of settings and not all of them make for the best image when used for mountain biking so experiment with the settings as once you get it dialled for the application it’s great. The image quality is good but not Gopro good, that said it’s about the 3rd of the price of said premo brand and for that reason and the others i’ve stated i think 5 stars is very fair review.

Bought this for a dive trip to the Maldives because I wasn’t ready to shell out for a GoPro for my first venture into underwater photography/videography. Comes boxed with a good range of accessories – although did have to buy a separate accessory bundle to get a positively buoyant monopod grip – and I was pleased two batteries were included so you can easily switch them out and always have one charging between dives. Waterproof housing works fine although the clip that holds it closed is too flimsy and regularly came off when opening the housing above water. I also separately bought anti-fogging inserts, and ordered Auto-Magic filter gels to cut to size for shooting in available light down to 15-18m (the round shape of the housing over the lens means that snap on filters designed for GoPro will not work with this camera, and I was not particularly impressed by the Dive Mode). Video quality when shooting with available light was decent up to about 15m max – I don’t think a GoPro would have produced better results below that depth when shooting with available light in rather murky inter-monsoon visibility. Not impressed with the quality of stills even above water and out of the housing – lots of noise in images even at the highest resolution, noticeable even on a small screen, and I get better results with my elderly iPhone 6 frankly. It’s a decent enough little video camera for the price, but you do get what you pay for – the up and down buttons didn’t work well even out of the housing, making it difficult to switch settings even above water (forget it below water) and the Akaso DV app is incredibly clunky and crashes frequently. I don’t regret buying it as I’m not a serious underwater photographer/videographer and I just wanted it to capture memories of some bucket list dive encounters (which is did well enough when whale sharks and mantras turned up), but if you’re more serious about wanting to capture good quality video and images consider paying more for the real deal. As a couple of other reviewers have noted Akaso does include an insert in the packaging inviting you to leave them a five star review in return for a free memory card, spare battery or accessories bundle which I think means you have to take all the five star reviews on here with a big pinch of salt.

Bought this little gem after doing some research, looked at the GoPro 4/5 which are really expensive and decided to look at alternatives which lead me to the Akaso Brave 4 . This is all you will need for perfect pictures and video . i am new to gopro type cameras and bought this for an upcoming trip to SE Asia , comes with many accessories ( although i did buy a kit with selfie stick tripod etc) looks and is sturdy with waterproof case and also an external case which i am using, when you have the camera in the waterproof case sound is poor ,but unless you are blogging underwater this will not matter . There is an app called Camking which is free which links with this camera for WiFi it has a 1 star review but i have used it and uploaded video to Facebook which worked really well although it took a bit of perseverance at first you just have to spend a little time getting used to it . batteries last pretty good but this depends what you are using.. ie are you using 4K mode or 1080 HD i used 1080 and let it play until battery ran out which was 38 mins so all in all for the price compared to GoPro this is a little gem the only reason i gave it 4 stars is the sound issue also it doesn’t have a wind filter but the price you will not get better ….

I post process with iMovie on the mac and this can take out shake and roll that you may get with action cameras, Excellent quality, If I had any gripe, it would be that you have to use it with the clear case if you want to attach it to anything and when using the very handy button remote, it is not always possible to see the red symbol on the back screen to know you are recording. Battery life limited, but so easy to pack more little batteries. Great product.

I bought this camera to use for my photographic business and for recording family holidays etc. I went with the Brave 4 4K HD action camera as the price was good and the reviews online were very impressive. I have to say I was not disappointed, although I have only had it a short time it is proving to be a very handy piece of kit, so much so that I intend on buying a couple more for recording dynamic action footage for my videos and videos for my clients. The accessories are excellent and the battery life is more than acceptable. I couldnt believe what you get for such a low cost, granted it may not be as durable as the bigger brand but at 1/4 the price Im not going to be worried as much if I lose it or break it. All I can say is, if youre after an action camera and have a tight budget take the plunge and get this one.

Wanted a waterproof camera to use on the first holiday for many years with the kids, I dismissed this at first as reviews stated it was hard to hear so I looked at go pros for 400 as they didn’t require a case to go in water, then I read some reviews as read some had they leak in water on expensive go pros. So in the end I went for this and glad I did. Picture and sound quality great and its cheap enough to allow the kids to go off with it.

I bought this for peace of mind whilst on my cycle commute. Using some of the included accessories I have attached the camera to my cycle helmet to film the traffic as it approaches from behind.

    Good points:
    – Video quality is great in daylight conditions (haven’t yet tried darker days)
    – Camera is excellent value for money
    – Lots of configuration options to set it up exactly how you want
    Bad points:
    – I’d like to fix it to my bike rather than my helmet, none of the included accessories allowed me to do this (there was a handlebar mount, but my bars are too thick for it to fit)
    – It’s a bit of trial and error on the options to get it set up exactly how you want

Just bought this AKASO Brave 4 4K 20MP WiFi Action Camera after the last one I ordered (from a different company) was faulty. This is a great camera for the money, and has a number of extra features — not always present on other makes, which are really useful. These include:
    * Wide angle choice
    * Anti vibration function
    * Dive mode
    * Drive Mode and
    * Variable exposure choices for difficult lighting conditions
I have spent all day today experimenting and testing the camera and accessories and it has delivered on all counts. The image capture is exceptionally high returning brilliant video and still footage.

The only slight niggle is that the screw turns on some accessories are difficult to engage. This could easily be solved with a screw that was 2 — 3 mm longer.

Please Note: Although AKASO only recommend a 64GB Micro SD I have been using a 128GB SD card with no delay in the video another positive for this camera as a single card should be enough for most people. I would certainly recommend this action camera and I am looking forward to using all the features when I go on holiday.

I had to return the first camera as the SD card would not click on to place. Returns process very slick and replacement received next day (refund for first within a week). SD card does click on this one but I have to use a fingernail or another card to push it in to the camera before it clicks.

All that aside, it is a great little camera and my first entry in to 4K. It is a shame I’m limited on manual settings video quality (prefer to change post production) but, again, it is a great entry level camera.

Would I recommend it? For the budget conscious, yes I would.

This is the first Action camera I’ve bought and I am very pleased indeed that I chose the Akaso Brave 4, after studying the many cameras on sale and the many reviews about them. The video quality is very good and the setup and use of the camera is extremely straightforward and intuitive … so, even as a complete novice with Action cameras, I had set it up and was using it within about ten minutes. With this model there are lots of parameters you can set, such as the view angle, and so you can tailor the camera to different situations, although of course the default options give good results in normal conditions.

The quality of the camera, waterproof case and fittings is very good and it feels robust to use. The two- button wrist remote control is a fantastic accessory and works very well without any setup being required … just press the video or still photo button as you require and it works and controls the camera immediately. I am sure the wrist remote control will be invaluable as I use the camera in different situations.

I then looked at connecting the camera to my phone and that too could not have been easier: I first downloaded the Akaso DV App to my Galaxy 8 from the Google Play App Store and then very easily linked the camera to my phone using the camera’s in built WIFI and I could immediately control the camera from my phone … taking videos and stills, viewing live feed and recordings and downloading or deleting files on the micro-SD card as I please.

So, as a complete novice with Action cams I found the setup, connectivity and use of this camera to be very easy, the build quality to be robust, the accessories to be comprehensive (the wrist remote control being particularly valuable) and the video results to be very good. The whole thing is very straightforward to use and gives very good results. I have no hesitation in recommending the Akaso Brave 4 camera.

AKASO Brave 4, indeed an impeccable item.
I Have perchest this item and as I am planning to make POV fishing videos I was looking for the best choice for an action camera which was user-friendly. Behold the AKASO brave 4, yes it is easy to operate and quite easy to understand the instruction. I have tired the stabilizer and it works like a charm, video quality is quite good as well. The wrist controls (watch like ) are very handy in a different situation when the camera is not around you but you wish to turn it off. The camera itself is quite small, as this is my first action camera I was very happy to see that I can store the item in a variety of places. I have put a video of Folkestone Pier, I hope you get the point I’m making here.
I would recommend the camera to my friends and anyone else who is looking for an action camera.

So far pretty good – does the job mostly as intended
    1) its on a motorbike so has to use the waterproof case but if this is used you cant have a permanent power feed and need to use batteries
    2) Image stabalisation is good at best but far from great
    3) menu is easy to use
    4) Difficult to see if this is on and recording when sat on bike
    5) Picture quality is good even on just HD
    6) could do with more fittings
    7) Adhesive pads are not great – I have had to tether camera
No point in adding a video as Amazon compression messes up the quality so you get a false perspective

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this camera for documenting motorcycle trips, and I’m very pleased with it. The picture quality is sharp (I’m using 1080@60fps) and the colours are good. I’ve been doing around 90 minutes of recording per day and the battery has not dropped below 50%, and I’ve certainly not needed to use the spare battery that came with the camera. The selection of mounts that came with the camera have been very useful for attaching the camera to the bike, and the remote/WiFi functions work exactly as you’d expect them to. The waterproof case was faultless during a recent very wet ride. The camera also has various functions like car-mode for dashcam use that I’ve not tried out yet, but I’ve no reason to think they would be anything other than straightforward, much like the rest of the features.

The instructions are a little concise, but there are no features that you can’t work out with 5 minutes trial and error.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had purchased a 7000 but it was missing some parts and the only way of solving that issue was to return it and buy a new one the brave 4K was on a special deal so I upgraded and I am glad I did this one has all the features missing from the 7000 most importantly a gyroscope oh and a battery charger that can charge both batteries at the same time. It also has a front facing screen showing battery life and recording status important if you are using it as a vlog camera. You have many more adjustments on the camera side exposure white balance etc also has voice prompts to tell you when it starts and stops. It also does time lapse again useful for vlogs. Another feature I will use Is the dive mode that changes the lens so it works better under water without a filter. Picture quality over all is improved not that the 7000 was bad at all but only at 1080p but the new one with the use of a Sony sensor is just sharper and better has better colour definition, all in all a very good action camera capable of good pictures for a fraction of the famous competition.

After searching for a budget camera to use for various activities I stumbled across the akaso brave 4. Now that i have the camera I definatly understand the hype surrounding this camera. its presentable in its packaging. It is stylish, compact and suitable in shape/ size for its use. The charge for the batteries are good. very easy to connect and doesnt take long to charge.
Reading the instructions/ manual included in honesty didnt really help alot and didnt give too much info about anything really. This camera is quite easy to figure out which makes up for it (does take a little playing with buttons etc). After getting the memory card sorted it was plain sailing ( i brought a 64gb sdxc cat10 micro sd card).
I will admit im not the most clued up on picture quality and resolutions blah blah blah but i would definatly say it meets my requirements so far and in time after using it for activities i will be able to answer more but im confident it will continue to impress me. Overall i would 100% say im happy with my purchase

Bought this to primarily take on holiday with me, the camera works really well. videos are particularly great even if sound isn’t captured that well when using the waterproof case (which is understandable). When the camera has been in the water, subsequent pictures out of the water aren’t very clear due to water marks and residue left on the lens, which is again is understandable but i have never had another action camera to compare it to so maybe the case’s lens should be better at clearing? I could never get it to work with any app via it’s wifi function though which is disappointing. And even after only using it for 2 weeks intermittently, it’s stopped playing video back on the camera itself. Removing the memory card and putting it into my phone was how i got around this but not something you want to be fiddling with on the Fly. In addition the wrist remote stopped working, i did use it in the water but thought this is one place where it would be ideal to use and hadn’t seen any warnings about it not being waterproof, but now that doesn’t work as a result. So the remote not working, no app compatibility and video playback ceasing to function has warranted the 3 stars from me. The Camera is still a great piece of kit but unfortunately the above have detracted form the camera itself.

    UPDATE:
Akaso got in contact with me and sent me out a brand new Brave 4 after reading my review, they did clarify that the bluetooth wrist wrap remote isn’t waterproof which i still find a bit disappointing given it’d be ideal for using underwater, however i can’t complain about a replacement item, it was within warranty and shouldn’t have stopped playing back video, but their customer service has been excellent and i still get to keep the old camera even when it only has the playback fault. GREAT!

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI bought this camera in March 2018, for a holiday later that month.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the camera. The camera itself is very easy to use. The pictures and video are superb.

The only drawbacks are that the settings to keep the camera image stable (during video) are not very effective.

The other disadvantage is that when the camera is inside one of the housings, the microphone is sealed inside. Unless you talk quote loudly, the camera mic won’t pick it up. I saw some videos on YouTube on how to attach an external mic, but the soldering of wires etc put me off. Akaso ought to sell an external mic that can be attached to the camera housing (on top).

The sound issue can be somewhat solved by drilling a hole in the side of the camera housing, which I will probably do at some point.

The image quality of both video and photos was excellent. I am very pleased overall.

Just in case you’re wondering, you can’t attach any of the attachments directly to the camera. You can, of course, hold the camera in your hand, but you can’t use any of the attachments. The attachments can only be used in conjunction with one of the clear perspex housings (there are two included).

I bought a GoPro handheld tripod (circa 30 quid). It attached to the camera housing very well. That’s what I used the majority of the time.

Great buy. Don’t waste money on the expensive GoPro! Buy this. Save money, and be glad you did when playing back the images on your TV (or computer)!

I wanted an action camera for a cycling holiday to Gran Canaria. After reading many reviews i finally went for the Akaso Brave 4 based on the favourable reports and its great value for money. The Brave 4 camera is awesome for anyone who wants to capture high quality action footage regardless of your tech abilities. It performed faultlessly when mounted to the bike, stabilisation was superb, in addition it coped very well in varied light conditions, the contrast and colours were excellent. The rear screen is clear and easy to view, 2 side buttons make scrolling through the various functions easy on the fly. I was surprised just how small and lightweight the camera is. When not in use i store it in its waterproof plastic case for protection, there is also an auto timer off function to conserve battery. It comes with 2 x batteries which last up-to an hour each depending on the resolution setting. The charger provided will charge both batteries together in little over an hour. You might want to buy an additional mick as the sound quality isn’t great when the camera is used in the plastic case. Considering all the accessories that come with the camera, this is a great piece of kit for the price. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the BRAVE 4 for performance and value.

Had this for a few days now. For the price it’s a good little action camera. Nothing earth shaking, but does exactly what is asked of it. Filmed my daughter’s gymnastics routine in 1080p @60 FPS and the quality is very good. The gyro smooths out any shakes to give a quality video. I’ve just played around with the 4K setting and it looks crisp and sharp on my 4K TV. Colour saturation was good. I left it on auto but I suspect if I’d put it on an indoor setting it would have looked better.

2 Batteries in the pack, which more than last the length of the videos I need to take.

Not a GoPro, but at 1/3rd the price you can’t complain.

(Full disclosure: There is a card in the pack that offers a free accessory pack for a 5* review if you can be bothered to redeem it, but for my needs I would give it 5 stars anyway.)

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor the price, the camera works great.

The video quality is crisp and adapts well to bright colours, dark environments and in handling the transition between dark and bright. The HDR capabilities seem mediocre and the EIS is half decent. Some users may want to stabilise the footage in post processing. At 60 fps, there isn’t any sign of stuttering so far and 4K footage does offer better resolution than 1080p.

    Niggles:
The audio direct from the camera is very quiet, almost to the point of being negligible. The recommended app is not good. The ‘AKASO DV’ app is a fully working alternative, and is good. The housing doesn’t encompass the camera perfectly, because of which, when recording there is a noticeable rattle. This can be rectified with a bit of electrical tape stuck to the base on the inside.

    Recommended for purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy opinion so far is this is really good value for money. It’ handy that the camera itself comes with a bundle of accessories so you can start to get to grips with the camera straight out of the box and with the two batteries provided you can go on to do this for a little while. The fittings seem compatible with most other action cams on the market which means if this is a replacement model your old accessories are likely to work on it.

Picture quality wise I tested out against my iphone and compared both pictures taken on my laptop and the only issue i can really see with this is the lighting, which this doesn’t provide a flash like a standard camera or phone might….but you’re likely going to be using this outside ( i know i will be).

Build wise it seems no less sturdy than any other action cam i’ve seen although i guess ultimately time will tell. Like another review i had bubbles on my screen however i did notice a secondary screen cover on mine that had bubbles under rather than under the screen itself.

I think at the end of the day you get what you pay for and this seems worth the money for me; especially at a quarter of the price of a goPro.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI was going to rate this product 4 stars but then evaluated the fact that it cost 60 from the daily deals. For the price the camera is actually really good. I was sceptical at first because of how light it was but after a few tests, the product was slot better than expected. I will say that it isn’t true 4k but it is uhd and does drain the battery life quite fast. I however us 1080p 60 and that was good enough and battery lasts longer, but then you do get 2 batteries. Overall for 60 I’m well happy with it.

From the pictures you can see that I have attached the camera to the helmet without the sticky pads provided in the kit (own preference), I did this with straps and velcro provided and is secured better than I thought it would. Plus the camera does move about in the case and putting the velcro behind it stops that slight movement.

Good camera that offers lots of options. There is no cover for the charging port or SIM card slot but that’s not a problem if it’s in its waterproof case. We were worried that the sound would not be good when it was inside the waterproof case following earlier reviews but our camera gives good results! Obviously it’s not as slick as the Go-Pro but it’s a fraction of the price and you get an awful lot for your money! Would have liked a suction cap for mounting to the car but we can hardly complain as it came with a huge number of other accessories!

An unbelievable piece of kit for the money! Arrived today, charged both batteries (it comes with 2) in the charger supplied in about 1 hour and went out for a quick spin on the bike using one of the numerous mounts that comes with it. I have to say I was going to buy a new GoPro but the price tag was putting me off. Having seen this on Amazon and read the reviews I can honestly say this is as good if not better than a GoPro. The build quality, features and accessories that come with it all for less than 80 quid is astonishing. Seriously, do not waste your well earned money on a GoPro, all you are doing is paying is for a brand name. This Camera in my opinion is better. The only thing I will say is that the instructions ask you to download the Camking app to allow it to work wirelessly with your phone. Well the App didn’t work on my Galaxy S6 however Akaso have developed their own app which works a treat. Just search Akaso in the Play store and there it is, brand new app and looks like it is designed specifically for this camera. Worked flawlessly for me first time. I will definately be buying a couple more of these for my family who are also into cycling. Brilliant.

Being a motorcyclist, I value the need in the current driving climate of a dash cam. As a result I have tried a number of makes of camera but struggle to justify the cost of a good quality Go Pro. The difficulty of mounting a dash cam on a motorcycle is that it needs to be lightweight, lens angle adjustable, weatherproof, the mounting position to get an extensive view, the stabilising ability of the camera to get clear footage and the ability to record for the duration of a day’s run before recharging is required.
I have found this camera to be excellent value for money and meets all the requirements and more for motorcycling as highlighted above. The down side was the recording time as it the case with most other cameras, however this one, by providing an extra battery goes some was to address this. Ideally charged batteries should provide more or less a full day’s runtime. At least spare batteries can be obtained for this camera. The lack of sound on the video (in built microphone closed off) while encased in the waterproof casing is also a bit limiting. The variety of accessories provided with this camera is a real bonus. This has proved to be an excellent product for the money with good and clear footage and is now my goto action camera.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersSo as a TV and Film professional and lecturer I have always been interested in these GoPro Alternatives (Clones). Up until now the SJ3000 has probably been the best cheap alternative and while it is still cheaper than the AKASO, it really falls a long way short of the quality. For this review I asked my students to take it out and also give me their opinions as they use GoPros a lot in their work.

Firstly out of the box we were all amazed by the range of accessories and the two batteries. The students also really liked the back screen and the wristband. They then set of with a car mount to film some driving to see how well it would work at speed. The set up they chose was 1080p at 60fps although this camera does have both 2k and 4k options, however they are big fans of 60fps for YouTube. After driving around for an hour they came back to view the footage and we were blown away with the quality at this price. They honestly felt it was up with a GoPro, personally I felt it was fantastic but the sky didn’t quite have the contrast I would have liked. However the white balance was set to auto and perhaps setting it to ‘cloudy day’ would have given better results. Furthermore internal shots in our building were amazing, the quality here was certainly comparable to the GoPro.

The motion was incredibly smooth and although the camera handled the bumps well, we later found that it has a gyroscope that we could have turned on to improve the smoothness.

With so many options and settings this camera does really tick all the boxes for someone who is looking to film some sports or wants a GoPro but doesn’t need the high-end quality I sometimes require for client work. Overall it is a very impressive camera for the price point and one of my students has already purchased one after the test.

    Good Points
    – Excellent quality
    – Wide range of setting including my favorites 4k, 1080p@60 and 720p@120fps
    – Inbuilt gyroscope
    – Waterproof
    – Wifi
    – Wrist strap
    – Excellent accessories

And if you watch the rest video remember Amazon hugly compresses the video quality as it is not a hosting site. The actual video is very crisp.

I hope you found this review helpful.

Excellent quality and so many settings. (Review test by film students)

This is my first Action Camera that I purchased for a holiday to Finland. I was tempted to buy this particular model as part of an offer of 20% off when I purchased the EK7000 model. This camera is great for anyone who wants to capture high quality video of any event! It perfromed very well even in -27c temperatures in Lapland! The screens are clear and easy to view and the buttons make scrolling through the various functions easy. It is a small and lightweight item which easily stores in your pocket when not in use plus there is a auto timer off function to conserve battery. It comes with 2x batteries which last around 45 minutes each and charge quickly with the charger provided (no plug just a USB lead). The only negative point I found is that the sound quality isn’t great when the camera is used in the plastic case. Overall this is a great piece of kit for the price. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the BRAVE 4 or the older EK7000.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usershe camera is very good but the remote control does not work.
Need to make a new review.
Yes, the remote didn’t work, but I decided to try and change the battery. Low and behold, it worked! I sent an Email to Akaso on 23rd January. To my astonishment had a reply today, 24th January, from Margaret. How’s that for customer service. She apologised for the remote not working and said she would send a replacement.

I tried the camera out at the weekend and was really impressed with the picture quality. I purchased it to take on holiday to Sri Lanka. Can’t wait.
I did a lot of research before I picked this little beauty and did consider the Gopro 5. I’m glad I didn’t. I love it and would highly recommend it.
