Also, make sure that the bowl clicks in place as well as the mixer head when you pull it down.

I was gifted this mixer by my partner, after the previous model by Andrew James broke (after many years of use). I have to say that this mixer is not as good a the previous model.
Pros
– two handles on the bowel
– mixer sticks well to the surface
– looks appealing
– mixes right to the bottom of the bowl
– good capacity
– good value for money
Cons
– the slowest speed is still to to fast for things like icing sugar!
– it often doesn’t recognise the first, second or third speed setting!
– the splatter guard has a gap between the plastic and the bowel, which is not good mixing flour or icing sugar! It results in the ingredients flying everywhere!
I liked it very easy handling and easy to clean and I highly recommend i
Only thing I am not happy with is that stays on unless unplugged so a child could turn the start knob easily
I’ve been using it for two months.
I used it for cake batter, to whip coconut cream, and to knead bread.
So far it’s good, no fault.
Yes, it’s very noisy when used to maximum speed ( you might want to use some protection and warn the rest of the family).
Very easy to clean.
It’s an affordable option, I recommend it.
Brilliant for mixing, whisking and blending . I’ve been none stop baking since I purchased i
Brought it yesterday and it a great machine .Very impressed and value for money
I ordered this and the first one arrived broken. Customer service was very friendly and quick to send a replacement. Second arrived and used a few times now. Great for kneading dough, easy to clean and simple to use. Looks great as is very slim and compact. Would definitely recommend.
Doesn’t mix items well, have to keep mixing ingredients togethe
Feels well made and sturdy. Suction very good as mixer does not move at higher speeds. Only drawback is that after 5 mins mixing you have to switch machine off and wait 20 mins before starting again, as per manual. Changing beaters easy. Mixes very quickly at low speed and cleans side of bowl easily when using rubber edged beater.
The mixer works very well. Very easy to use. Great value.
Love it as it scraped the cake batter off the bowl when mixing and saves alot of stop sta
Liked everything about this food mixer l used to stand and bake for hours but this machine cuts preparation time in half
Easy to use, looks good, and works well, has lots of attachments.
Never had a good mixer before and realised how it is so easy to use. Love the rubber bladed attachment game changer. Brilliant value for money.
Its very good for its price range, plus its really powerful
I bought 2 for gifts at Xmas. Recipients were really pleased.
A little noisy at times, but all in all does a great job
My wife found the lid did not close properly as it had a tendency to let the flower escape when first starting the mix, apart from that we’ve had no problems
This was a replacement for my previous Andrew James mixer as I could not get a replacement paddle. This one is so much lighter, the paddle is much more sturdier, the shaping of the inside bowl is much better making a better mix. Recommend.
It’s encouraging my daughter to do fococcia and cake by herself.
Only used once so far but this good looking mixer worked well with each control.
No need to use your hands and waste time! Does Its job and very quickly! value for money!
Positives are quick delivery, it has a nice big mixing bowl, it’s a neat size, not too many nooks and crannies so it’s easy to clean, the flexible beater attachment is great.
The 1 BIG negative is even on the lowest number it mixes the cake mix so fast that any flour you add is instantly flicked out of the bowl, so you have no choice but to use the bowl lid.
Very nice aesthetically and a very good food mixer. Sticks very solid to work top and can be difficult to release.
Great product easy to use. Brilliant dough hook makes bread making so much easie
Used it a few months already and works fine. I like the fact that it has different attachments for different stuff.
This is the first electric mixer I’ve bought. Decided it’s time I could bake! Love it, no idea how it stands up against other mixers but seems great to me. It’s so easy to use even for a novice like me and cleaning it is easy too.
Absolutely love it . Easy to use and clean .Suction pads not fantastic but definitely 5 stars
After 18months of moderate use the casing has developed a split . It has not been dropped or received a blow. The crack/split looks like it has formed internally.
The dough hook and the flex beater have been well used since acquiring the mixer.
Perfect! Used mainly for cake mixing. Gets right around the edge of the bowl.
Easy to use
Easy to wash up
Attractive to look a
Love it, love it, love it! So easy to use and clean.
Absolutely delighted with my new mixer, it fits in really well with my kitchen. It is really quiet compared to any other mixers I have had and mixes right to the bottom of the large bowl, it is also a great idea to have the handles for easy lifting and includes all attachments. Overall I am extremely satisfied and will be recommending to all my friends.
Love my new machine, can’t see the point of paying 300+ quid on a machine that will do exactly what this one does. Baked bread, cakes, brioche, all very good. Beat bread dough for 8 minutes and no overheating.
I have owned an Andrew James hand held mixer for a few years now and have been very happy with it. I decided to buy a free standing mixer but did not want to pay the big brand price. It is an excellent mixer, does not move when in use, has all the attachments, easy to clean, looks good, has a large mixing bowl and it does the job!! I am very happy with it and would recommend.
So pleased with the purchase. Had no issues so far. Made bread and cakes and it all turned out fine.
Didn’t want to spend a lot on a mixer but also didnt want to go for a cheap and cheerful one either so this was perfecr…Works well with a big mixing bowl which is easy to clean…
I have made dough many times, if you have too less of a mixture it sometimes may need help with a spatula to gather it together same with cake mix. If you have too much mixture the machine does tend to move as it is quite light so you will need to hold it if using the faster power. Overall it is a good machine for the price paid.
The wife love’s it, easy to use with good instructions
This is my very first electric stand mixer. I’ve always used a hand mixer. Its Great. It’s saved so much time and has helped me create lots of yummy cakes and bakes over the last few months. Why on earth didn’t I buy one sooner!?
Great product for cake mixing.. although you do end up with a bit of flour everywhere even with the lid o
Just what I needed to make bread & Cakes, robust and east to use 🙂
I absolutely love this mixer!
I must admit I had my doubts at first. I’ve always used a well known brand of mixer until it died but cannot believe the quality of this one for considerably less money. It is definitely superior to my last one. It has brought the joy of baking back into my house, thank you.
Unit was very lightweight. Tools were not as heavy duty as I am used
This mixer is totally good, judging from my experience in baking. Good for it’s value and price.
I had a tough one reading through many reviews and was contemplating if I should or not, happy that I did.
The beaters touch and mixes well. The noise to me,manageable…most mixers makes noise.
does everything it says and my only negative is the bowl guard, i wanted one with this but find it a bit of an unnecessary nuisance the way it has to be on the mixer over the blade first is all, would have preferred to have one to push on and off without having to lift mixer main head and removing mixer blade to remove i
I love this mixer. So far I have used it for bread and cheesecake and it is wonderful, easy to use and makes life so much easier for me. The only downside if you really want me to find an issue is the noise levels, but it is a small price to pay for an easy to use and time saving kitchen aid.
Previously had one of these products that lasted about 5 years, but wife wanted the same again, so kept her happy and purchased this one, let’s see how long it lasts
Quite new to baking, so I wanted something easy to use and reasonably priced. This is ideal
Dough hook doesn’t always catch all the dough. Feet keep machine very still.
Mixes really well and does the job intended. Looks very nice but paint chips very easily.
The little opening to pour stuff in doesn’t have a cover so any dry ingredients tend to fly out, also there is a bit of a gap between bowl and lid so it also comes out the sides.
Purchased this as a second mixer and the quality for the money is excellent. Not heavily used but wanted to get something similar in size to our Kenwood Mixer without breaking the bank and this mixer fits the bill. My one niggle is the splashguard, it has a section cut out of it to put the ingredients in so icing sugar in and icing sugar back out while mixing! The kenwood mixer has a splashguard with a hole but there’s a hinged cover so the ingredients stay in the bowl, with this mixer the icing sugar blows around and ends up coming back through the hole, ended up putting a tea towel over the hole to keep the ingredients where they are. Haven’t used it heavily thus far but would have been five stars for value for money, have rated it as four as what I see as a bit of design fault (rang Andrew James prior to leaving feedback but they said they hadn’t had any other feedback around this)
This mixer is high quality for a very reasonable price. It mixes perfectly. No slip. No spills. No engine noise! I love it!
I have many Andrew James products now and I have to say I am never disappointed. They do the job and more.
I’m proud to own this mixer and spend plenty of time in my kitchen mixing up whatever takes my fancy. It’s fab. Highly recommended.
I love this product it is very light and very sturdy and I use it to make chapati dough a few times a week and it mixes the dough well and my chapatis turn out light and fluffy.
I have used Swan and Kenwood before but I like this one better as its very light to lift and store.
A good purchase, gets the job done. The lowest setting ironically is pretty fast. No issues with the product however it is pretty loud.
Sleek and light weight. Not big so fits anywhere on the work surface. Love that there are four attachments and not three. However. Minimum mix speed is not allow enough for me and medium speeds are very loud and whistly.
Having baked for many years, I had not done so for a while with the era of food processors. I wanted to go back to basics with a stand mixer, that was easy to use, and could do the job I wanted. This is sturdy but lightweight, the gripper stand making sure it does not move.. The 2 handles on the bowl are a great feature, as is the easy speed control. Would highly recommend. I decided on the silver colour and it is very chic. love it!
Not long had this mixer so can’t really give too much information. I made the sponge cake which turned out very well, I need to practice with measurements so I can make it bigger. I mixed a chocolate & vanilla marble cake today which is baked in my pro cooker and this turned out well also. Again I need to juggle the measurements but I have got plenty of time to play with it. Overall I am very pleased with it and maybe when I can use it with confidence I will up the star rating to 5.
Only had a week but used several times now . Simple and easy to use. Feels well made but not had long enough to pass judgement.
My only issue is that paid a lot more through Amazon than if i gone direct to Andrew James.
First impressions are favorable, only used it a couple of times so far,You cant compare this to a top of the range Kenwood ( for example) but it appears to do a good job for a budget mixer, very happy so far.
his was my christmas present, and it makes my baking so much easier. I have arthritis in my hands and I have been struggling to do my favourite past time and my brother bought this for me as a surprise. But I think he has other motives for getting me back baking.
I have never had a stand mixer before so have nothing to compare it to but it works well, looks good and does the job. Occasionally fine, dry ingredients fly out of the hole in the splash guard but it is obviously still better than a hand mixer that I’m used to.
We already have one of these, in very regular use, as my wife and children at home all use it for cooking and baking several times a week.
As a result, when one of our older children began to bake using a small hand-blender, we decided this was ideal for her.
Excellent quality. Worthy of the high recommendations.
Was very happy with the item. The postage was a little bit odd as there was no option for Saturday delivery on amazon, but I could arrange this separately with the courier. Nether the less the item is great and I’ve already used it in baking several things. The bowl is a good size, and the tools are all very similar to ones I’ve used in the past.
I like the lid, but when adding flour it’s still a bit dusty on my counter, just not as much as before. The creaming blade is great, gets every bit of butter from the edge. Large mixing bowl and easy to use button to change speeds.
Great mixer. Lots of attachments. Does everything I want it too. Good value for money.
I am very impressed so far with this mixer and the speedy delivery from the supplier. It is so attractive in my kitchen and fits in so well. I am proud to display it. i have only used it once so still getting used to it but so far so good it is extremely fast and gets to all the mixture at the bottom of the bowl.
Very pleased with my purchase. Well packaged on arrival. Communication from the supplier, Andrew James, was excellent, e- mails and text messages kept me informed exactly when the mixer would be delivered and true to their word it was within the hour stated. The mixer looks very stylish, all attachments lock in very easily and the splash guard fits very securely. Mixing bowl locks into position while in use and has two carrying handles which I find excellent. Suction pads keep the mixer very stable whilst in use. I have only very recently purchased this mixer due to my old one giving up the ghost and so far have only made sponge cakes and pastry ( with good results) and find that the attachments reach to the bottom and sides of the bowl ensuring all the ingredients are mixed thoroughly without keep having to keep stopping the machine to scrape down the sides. I do not find the machine very noisy, a little but only what I expected. I am looking forward to making bread and much, much, more. So to sum up delighted with my Andrew James mixer.
This machine has made a lovely light, fluffy black forest gateaux. Whipped the cream as well as beating the cake mixture.
Downside is it makes a very squealy sound that’s loud, unlike the more heavy duty mixers available. But you get what you pay for. I didn’t have the money for the high end machine my dad has, this machine is more than capable of what I need it for.
Purchased this a while back but haven’t had a chance to use it. Managed to knock out 2 cakes lemon drizzle and banana loaf kids favorite
I didn’t realise how fast it blends it up, I was doing it before mixing myself which still taste as good. Can’t want to try making some bread. Love the mixer will recommend this to anyone should to bake.
Good enough mixer, however the slow speed NO 1 is far too fast. There is no way you can SLOWLY add ingredients to this. Pulse is also very fast.
I bought this to upgrade my fingers eat Andrew James mixer. The flexible beater blade has improved in the newer model, and the bowl now has handles which is better. Perhaps it’s a problem just with my own but I find it doesn’t start gently- the slow setting isn’t all that slow and even using the guard it kicks flour/ icing sugar everywhere when you first start it, so it’s pretty messy. Other than that it’s fine though .
I bought this mixer for my Mum for Christmas after returning a slightly cheaper model purchased from Dunelm. This mixer is brilliant and great value for money. My Mum has been making lots of bread dough and cakes with it and, while not great for her cholesterol levels, it’s certainly turning out some great food! Well recommended.
Bought for the wife as an Xmas present. She seems to like it and has been using it lots. Did a bit of research and this seemed to be a decent mixer for the price.
Bought as a present for daughter she is very pleased with it, it had a scratch on the top but was not worth sending back as it works well.
This is my second mixer and it’s as good as the first one. Really pleased with it.
I got this as a present for my wife she loves it. I think for the price it’s pretty desce
I bake for a living and have gone through 2 mixers in the last 2 years (expensive ones!!)
I didn’t want to spend a fortune replacing my broken one, so I opted for this cheaper alternative based on all the positive reviews. I am very happy with the way it performs and it is no noisier than my other mixers. The only problem I have with it, is that the metal beater does not reach the sides of the bowl. I therefore don’t ever use that one. I make a lot of Swiss meringue buttercream and it does a good job of incorporating the ingredients. So far, so good! Let’s hope this mixer lasts longer than my others!
Good mixer for the price, easy cleaning, assembly and disassembly.a bit noisy but not a problem for me.
This is my first stand mixer so nothing to compare it with but happy so far with my baking results. Machine seems solid and the K attachment creams butter well reaching all around the sides and bottom of the bowl. The whisk attachment is also very efficient. Haven’t tried the other attachments yet. Looks stylish and is compact enough for easy storage.
Its appears excellent value for money and has now been used twice, the first time mixing pastry it seemed to labour, maybe we hadn’t got the hang of it , when it arrived two screws lay in the bottom of the box these I fitted, shame it hadn’t been opened for a physical check prior to dispatch, none of the forgoing would have been mentioned had I had a quick response to my earlier email to Andrew James.
it is a very good mixer, just enough attachments for my needs.
my only downside is that I think it will get scratched on the top, even though I look after my kitchen products.
I was weary about buying this after reading mixed reviews however I wasn’t disappointed – what’s not to love? The mixer reaches the bottom of the bowl ensuring all of the mixture is combined, it’s less noisy than previous mixers, the rubber feet keep it locked into place so no wobbling about. And so far it’s made cakes, bread, donuts, and other bakes, I love it!
As this is my first ever mixer (novice to baking) I have to give it a five star I just love it, and boy what a difference it make having one. This is so easy to use and if I have to say it does what it says it does the only thing I have to say is that I just wish it was a little quite, part from that it’s great.
Having been enthralled by the new series of GBBO my wife kindly bought the mixer as an early Xmas Gift. So far I’ve used once to make a Victoria sponge which went down very well. The mixer is multi speed and has a pulse option, it comes with a variety of blades and a simple instruction book with a couple of recipes. Also included is a scraper that’s tapered to match the bowl which is really useful. My next project will be bread. Really can’t fault the mixer in anyway
*PLZ READ ADDITIONAL NOTE AFTER INITIAL REVIEW
Just got this mixer yesterday, and I made a chiffon cake today, so so far I’ve only whisked egg whites with it. So far, so good. I’ll try bread tomorrow.
My only concern is that the release button allows mixer to go up, but it’s difficult to get it to go back down again, seems a bit flimsy. I’m going to bare with it for now, and hope it’s a knack thing, but if not, I’ll be in touch with manufacturer.
*ADDITIONAL REVIEW: release button no longer works so unable to lock the mixer into place. So…machine is unusable after just 2 uses. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Appear to be too late to return and be refunded.
Having purchased a small oven/grill by Andrew James a few years ago which was and still is a great little oven, I was so pleased to find a food mixer from the same company and it certainly doesn’t dissapoint. Really excellent product, everything I wanted and a great price. Delighted.
Not only does it look good it takes all the effort out of baking love it .really good quality for money.
