Bought this little projector as a Xmas present for my son to use as an alternative to a tv.
He connected it to his game console and phone to test it out. Connection was easy and painless.
We were very impressed with the quality of the picture and the sound produced.
The room was relatively dark in order to achieve a bright picture. Not sure how it would perform in daylight hours but drawing the curtains would easily remedy that.
Overall very pleased with this projector and would consider buying again for myself.
We use this in our camper van for movie nights. It’s quiet and can be used while charging, it can also be charged with a power bank if you don’t have access to a plug socket but I find you can watch 2 movies without recharging. The projector has built in android that needs to be updated regularly otherwise the apps start to bug out but you can download movies from Amazon prime or Netflix allowing you to watch without an internet connection. The speaker is good enough but we often connect a wireless speaker to improve the experience and the brightness is pretty good allowing it to be used when the blinds are open or the lights are o
Had this a while and love it. Specifically bought to use in the campervan which works a treat. However, apps stopped updating/working from the nebula store which I thought meant it was rendered useless. If this happens to you, you can request a play store install code from support. They give you a code which allows install of the beta firmware and this opens up the Google play store where you can update apps an download others that aren’t available E.g ITVX or SkyGo. Nebula need to either release this or communicate better that this is available. So it’s not a brick just yet!
What a great piece of kit. Lovely small size but reassuringly weighty. Fantastic bright picture. Easy to adjust picture size. Autofocus is a handy feature as is streaming directly from router.
Sharp bright picture but not adequate for viewing unless it is dark. I use the app on my phone to control it and it works pretty well. There are a few navigation issues with Netflix and prime but not hard work around once you get used to it. Battery life is good and the sound quality from the built in speaker is more than adequate for a portable projector. The bonus for me was that when I plug my fire stick into the hdmi port I can also use the usb to power it so no need for an extra power source. I can highly recommend the Nebula case to go with this.
The Anker NEBULA Capsule Max Mini Projector is an excellent choice for anyone in need of a compact and portable projector. The design of the projector is sleek and modern, making it easy to transport and set up wherever you need it. The picture quality is impressive, with bright and vivid colors, and the built-in speakers provide clear and powerful sound. The battery life is also impressive, lasting up to 4 hours on a single charge. The projector also has a wide range of connectivity options, including HDMI, USB, and WiFi, making it easy to connect to your devices. Overall, the Anker NEBULA Capsule Max Mini Projector is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality portable projector that offers versatility and convenience.
The picture quality, brightness and speaker is amazing for the price. In a dark room the picture is great. would recommended
Perfect for when we go away in the camper van!
I wanted to watch TV in my dining room but didn’t have room for an actual television. This does the job perfectly. My dining room doesn’t get too much light so I can watch TV on this projector during the day, though it’s not quite as clear as it is at night. Very pleased with the sound quality. The in built android app workings are really quite inadequate for UK – can only get BBC iPlayer (through a search), Netflix and YouTube. None of the other UK streaming services seem to be on it. And the remote control is pretty useless except for turning on and off and controlling volume as it doesn’t work with the apps. However, this problem is solved by plugging in my Chromecast which I can control with my phone.
So the actual device hardware is really good but the software on it is outdated. Still very pleased with it though.
This product is very good. It is portable, clear and good sound. It has auto focus and you can watch youtube, netflix .
Very coolio little machine. Perfect size for the van. Great picture and easy to set up. Only downside is you need mains power to charge it. But I have found a hack for that with the aid of a Jack to type c adapter, so it can now be charged via a power bank. So very happy with i
Having had a Kodak 250 which lasted just over 1 year with little use I am more than pleased with the Nebula Max picture quality is excellent and sound is miles better than the Kodak which I had to use a separate speaker with , the app availability from the unit could be better but as I’m using it with my firestick it’s not a problem it’s a quality unit and I’m enjoying watching the world cup in it all in all very pleased
Not sure if this means I have massive husband brownie points or my other presents were terrible…. I absolutely love everything about the nebula and my wife is pretty happy too. Big smiles all round, who needs a TV anyway!
I purchased this product over a year ago, for long winter nights in the camper van with the kids. It worked great to project in the roof space or on the side of the van and the sound quality is excellent and plenty loud enough. More recently we have used it for move night in either the hot tub or under the fixed Gazebo. The battery life is generally in the 2hr mark, enough for a movie. Remote can be a little inconsistent, but the app works great. I even contacted the customer service team to allow google play download of my Geniatech Portable TV tuner. Would be better if it had usb charging capability. No regrets on this purchase
The best feature of this is definitely its portability. Having an internal battery means this can be used pretty much anywhere and the size means it’s very easily packed into a bag. Picture resolution is very good however it works best in a completely dark room, brighter rooms means it struggles just a little.
For the cost I would have expected it to have a zoom function to get the picture size just right so was disappointed that this simple thing is not a feature however this can be achieved with the quadrant keystone adjustments. Sound quality is good but obviously limited by the size of the device, connecting to an external speaker or wireless headphones is an amazing feature!
Overall I’m very happy, it has some limitations so no replacement for a good home TV but there are more expensive models that may resolve these. Great as an extra little travel gadget!
Absolutely amazing great picture, fantastic sound quality so easy to use. We take it camping and use it as a tv for the bedroom
Was weighing up a few options between this and the XGIMI Halo but glad I got this! Much more compact and picture quality is very very good! Sound is immense, overall very happy with the purchase!
Ordered on prime day with a discount that made the price more acceptable.
Excellent, especially in darkened circumstance – if you want to watch this outside on a sunny day, it has no chance – but, indoors, with no direct sunshine things get better, and with a darkened room, excellent.
Bought for use in the bedroom where a tv just cannot happen, and it’s perfect; it takes a firestick no worries, self powered too, although for how long I’m not sure(!)
Speaker is good, clear, and sufficient for upright use. Fan is hardly noticeable at all; and the remote for it works well and is much like the one for a firestick. The phone App is sparse, but functional, allowing text entry, as well as mouse cursor control.
It throws an 82″ ish image at around 8′-9′, perfect for the end of the bed wall. Picture is excellent on our painted wall, although it will be going on to a screen shortly – where the picture is actually even better.
The auto focus is *brilliant* and a must – move it at all and it simply shows a focus image and resets, superfast. I didn’t realise how much of a pain it might have been until I moved it a few times and tah-dah, done. Excellent.
Connectivity is good too, although there is a small caveat regarding streaming copyright content – before you panic, it will run the IPTV stuff, for example, with no worries – but that’s the firestick, not the actual Nebula, but when I try to connect the Nebula app to Plex, it says I have to have a subscription – so I connect to Plex on the firestick not the Nebula, and all is well.
It has the screw connector on the base for tripod use, or gorilla mount for example, and touch sensitive controls on the top – perfect.
Strongly recommend this; it’s simply “brilliant”, in a can.
Bought as a gift and used a few times already, it’s very easy to set up. The charge lasts well, the portability is great. Used on a white wall at about 3m distance gives a good sized ”screen”. We’ve tried it out on sunny day with curtains drawn and whilst it’s definitely better in dark, it’s still perfectly watchable in terms of brightness.
Sound quality is good enough, we’ve tried it linked to a separate speaker too – connecting is simple.
I liked the picture quality and brightness of this projector it works well in my van. For the price it is more than adequate we project from the side and lower than the screen and to be able to adjust the the picture is brilliant. The smaller you project the picture the brighter the image. We go for about a 40″ picture size which is great from the distance we view from, about 6 to 8 feet.
Now i cant watch tv in the bathroom
Its not very bright so not do good in a bright room but very good on slightly darker environment.Did have a little problem connecting to the internet but little tweak in my virgin router and all working perfect.
This is a great reasonably priced portable projector. We have used this whilst camping and indoors at home and it’s great. The picture quality on the inside of the tent was great, sound quality was great too. Battery life is better than expected, we at a push can get 2 films out of it. Lots of apps to download for streaming films etc. the only one we’ve not been able to get is Now, but all other big ones are fine. All in all a great projector for the pride and definitely recommend!
I’ve been using it for a month and overall I can say its exactly what I wanted. To break it down so its easy for you to understand.
GOOD
– Portable small compact.
– Feature only in this model and not the new model (manually adjust the frame vertically and horizontally. The new one can only do it vertically). Which is the reason why i bought this. So you understand, projector can be placed on the side, opposed to directly in front and adjusted.
– 3 to 4 hr battery life. So i really push the projector. I won’t charge it till it dies. Its weird as some days it goes 4hrs+ (by 10 to 15min) some days between 3 to 4 hrs.
– You can now download the Disney+ and netflix app on the device and play from the projector itself.
– I’ve gamed from it comfortably (Nintendo switch).
– To some extent can play in brighter settings (as in a grey day outside, or day with clouds, I can still see the projection okay (not perfect). But thats expected considering i’ve not darkened the room at all. Other projectors you’d see nothing in that day light, whilst you can see something with the nebula.
BAD THINGS
– My charger was broken when i received a brand new nebula. I had to contact them for a replacement, which I had to buy myself and they reimbursed. To be fAIR I believe i was just unlucky, Shouldn’t happen to you. And Nebula were fast to help me fix this issue.
– On a sunny day, you’re not seeing anything 🙂 but then again, you don’t by a projector this size expecting it to work in bright day light. like a grey non sunny day yes it will work, but not a sunny day.
– Speaker is loud, but some reason on the switch is appears super loud. But overall its not bad.
Finally, I love this product, but I do think it’s VERY EXPENSIVE. it’s not something someone can afford lightly.
Having said this, i took the hit, and i’ve no been disappointed. I move between countries (london, amsterdam) and I use it at home and on my travels and its the perfect small portable device I can literally carry in my pocket.
Definitely recommend if you can afford it.
I wasn’t expecting this just tried it for a laugh on the side of a house so
Glad I got this the grandkids will
Love i
Overall this is as good if not better than some I have tried at 2 and even 3 times the price. The auto focus is 100% accurate every time and other screen adjustments can be fine tuned via the manual options. Picture quality even on a white wall is impressive so I look forward to seeing how it looks on a screen.
My son loves it and works well even if room not that dark.
After saving up for a wee while I treated myself to the Nebula in the Black Friday sales. Very impressed with it. Picture quality very good and bright. Have bought for use when away with motorhome.
Unfortunately the first one I received had a broken plug and I contacted first Amazon and also Anker to see about getting a replacement part. Neither could provide me with a new plug the same however I was offered a refund to purchase a similar plug from Amazon. I really wanted the correct plug so advised to customer services at Anker that I wasn’t happy with that solution. They were very good and sent me a return label and then sent me a new Nebula out. Very impressed by the service I received from both Amazon and Anker. New one received and is working perfectly.
Not sure what the negative reviews are saying really. This is a cracking bit of kit. The sound is great, image quality is brilliant, and it is really pretty bright even in energy saving mode. Basically I am a big fan.
Great device, is could be better but minor grip, sound is good and keystoning makes it perfect!
If you have been browsing this sort of range and cant decide, buy it! Seamless connectivity, works with bluetooth earphones, lasts more than 2hrs and takes 2hrs to fully charge. Works with Firestick and you can connect the usb to the nebula to power it.
Our first projector and it’s great! Set up was fairly easy and used in conjunction with an Amazon Firestick for access to Netflix and Amazon etc. Picture is great and sharp and sound is good enough and clear. Projector itself is silent and things like this would annoy me and I can’t here a thing from any fan or anything like that. Used it on a projector screen and then on a massive white sheet in the garden and it scales up perfectly. The only thing you will need is a tripod or something like that to stand it on if you don’t have a stable base. Highly recommend.
I rarely put reviews for anything but thought I should say that after the charger on the first one being delivered faulty, and nebulas customer service being unable to provide me with a genuine replacement, I sent the product back for a refund and ordered a new one. The charger was in perfect working order on the second one and I am extremely impressed the projector. Assuming my first order was a one off issue, I would definitely recommend the nebula. Great quality picture, huge screen size and very very small.
I spent a lot of time looking at different projectors and weighing up whether this would be worth the extra money – and 100% yes! (we somehow got it in the recent Sale so saved something on the full price too!)
Having the native apps on the projector rather than always having to connect another device is excellent (although plugging our firestick in and working from that also worked like a dream) – we did an update when we first set it up, so perhaps that fixed some of the problems mentioned in previous reviews?
But it 100% works well for us.
We have used it outside so it’s tricky to see when it’s still light (no projectors are going to really help there!) but really clear once it’s dark.
We also followed the advice in one of the answers to connect Sky Go through the Play Store – you need to contact support to go onto their Beta program for it, but the information they sent was VERY clear and it works really well…again, one less thing that needs to be plugged in!
We’re really happy that the extra money has been well spent – it’s a really good, compact, quality bit of kit and I can see us using it EVERYWHERE!
Fantastic portable projector , use on standard mode and you can get up to realistic viewing times. If you set the projector to the best quality viewing time is 1.5 hours max . The sound is great for outdoor use and camping however you need to have it set at almost full to get the best effect . It’s not a home projector so has limitations on brightness but excellent for glamping , patio use etc ..
Having bought the basic Nebula a couple of years ago, which is great, I needed to upgrade and went for the Capsule Max. Astonishing quality, a real joy. Also Stacey and the Anker support team were excellent with support. Great product, great company.
This little product was advertised to me on a youtube “things I found on amazon” video and I thought “how cool a mini projector for watching netflix” so I saved up and bought it and I was not disappointed the usability and convenience of this product is incredible. I love it. I also spoke to Marvin in nebulasupport about downloading the google play store and he was quick to respond and handled the entire process quickly and effectively and helped me to solve my problem. 10 stars (5 forr the product, 5 for the service)!
Pros: works great at night excellent picture quality. Wide array of apps. Tech support are fantastic in resolving issues. E.g I couldn’t access now tv but they resolved this promptly. A good projector and price. Next time consider paying more for the higher spec models
Cons: picture quality isn’t great in the daylight. The remote is abit fiddly but the remote app is good.
I love this projector! The features and display are honestly amazing. Definitely worth the investment if you are thinking of purchasing. The team at Anker are also extremely helpful, their service is one of a kind. Don’t even think twice about purchasing
Great little device however system feels a little dated.
Software – As it doesn’t run native Android, you have to use Nebula’s own store and the interface feels very janky (can’t move around Youtube/iPlayer etc unless in mouse mode). Would be great if an AndroidTV interface was implemented but for now, I use it with a Chromecast/HDMI device to circumvent this issue.
Image/Sound Quality – Great image quality for the resolution, brightness is great for medium/low lit rooms which is the intended case. Sound is clear and I normally leave it a low to medium volume for my living room. The only downside is the adjustment shift. If I throw this on my bedroom nightstand (side of the bed) the image is distorted horizontally which can’t be corrected easily. If I put it on top of my bed headboard, I can’t adjust vertically so the image may be too low or cross over to the ceiling.
Quite simply a very solid and desirable product. The brightness is good enough for practical use. No complaints about picture quality. Portability is the selling point for me. The build quality is excellent. The tripod is worth paying extra for.
Im really pleased with it, great picture and super portable. I had to return the item for an exchange as it had an issue and I can honestly say I’ve never received such excellent customer service! The person I dealt with responded super quickly, checking in regularly to keep me updated and following up after the item was delivered. Hands down the best service I’ve ever received from an online purchase.
Best Buy for any man who loves to watch Tv anywhere he pleases. Great picture and sound quality but the best thing you do is connect it to a fire stick download your fav Netflix film and watch it offline.
I’ve seen many ‘portable’ projectors, usually for sale in airport duty free for about $99 claiming to be Full HD, etc, and they always struck me as throwaway gadgets.
I really wanted a home projector that was also portable for travelling and didn’t require tons of set up and calibration. This ticks the box perfectly.
No need for any source to be plugged in, just turn it on and you’re good to go. It sits perched on the top of our headboard as per the pic attached. Can also easily just pick it up and bring it to my daughter’s room to watch movies. I havent used it as a bluetooth speaker much as it’s so easy to just select the spotify app and use it that way. It packs a decent sound for its size too.
Overall, I’ve been recommending this to many many people.
This is an excellent little projector for small spaces. Good portability, great sound and battery life.
Android engine is good too.
Only reason for not giving five starts is the fixed focal depth, you can zoom the screen, other than by moving the unit. Which is ok if you’re able to do this, mine was intended to be fitted above a hot-tub, so I don’t have the required positioning latitude.
It’s a great little bit of kit, despite being a 4K snob I’ve been immersed in the picture without stressing at all. Brightness could be a little better but it really is perfectly fine in a darkened room (which most people will be using it in)
Solid build, reasonable picture quality, good sound, good on-board apps, good support.
This is the first projector I’ve owned so nothing to compare it with, but obviously projectors need a dark room otherwise the image gets washed out. It’s bright, even when projecting a 70″ image, though it’s long throw so needs to be at least 2m back to get a good size. Bright images and film look pretty good. I’ve also used for Gran Turismo on PS4 which is good, though at 70″ shows the pixelation so could really do with 1080p or 4K at this size for gaming so I’ll probably reduce the size a bit.
Sound is pretty good for its size from built in speakers. I tried pairing to Bose headphones also but the sound was about 0.5s behind the video, so instead connected headphones to PS4 which was fine.
Some good apps built in like Netflix, though NowTV didn’t install – called support and they offered two solutions – update to latest Beta OS with Google Play store, or download the app from Nebula. I chose the latter which worked fine – their support teams are very helpful.
My only other issue was that AirPlay from iPhone 12 Pro was a little jittery but will try that again sometime and email support if it’s still an issue.
Battery life is relatively short (70-90min) at full brightness so recommend keeping plugged in if you need it to run for longer than this. A less bright image can be set for longer play which is ok if the room is very dark.
Overall for the price I paid (100 off in Black Friday sale) it’s a great portable projector which we can use around the house for films and programmes, games etc, especially when the kids have their friends round.
Would recommend a tripod also.
For the price, this has been a great buy and converted our living room to our own personal cinema, I connect it via Bluetooth to my hifi to make the sound even bigger and it works great. When I first bought it there were a few uk streaming apps I was disappointed to be missing, but after contacting the nebula team they provided me with instructions to do a beta upgrade so now we’ve got everything we need. Also as it’s portable we take it into the bedroom to project on the well and use the internal speaker which is great for its size!
This is a fantastic projector. I’ve wanted one for a while after a friend recommended it to me so I snapped one up when it was on offer.
The projector itself is great. It’s easy to use and provides an excellent picture, all in such a small package. The OS on this version is easy to use and you can install Netflix, Amazon Video etc out of the box. Battery life at full brightness is around 1-1.5 hours so for longer films you’ll need to plug into the mains.
When mine arrived I was initially disappointed, since I was sent a US version which is the same as the UK version but with a different power adaptor. I contacted Amazon support at first who were fairly useless and just said return it, which I didn’t want to do as it had been a deal. I then contacted Anker support who I must say are amazing and very responsive and supportive.
They apologised and said that if I bought a plug converter they’d refund me, and also offered me a free gift of another Anker product (which I accepted). A day later I had the adapter and the day after had my free gift and a refund sorted.
They also helped me install Disney+, which requires upgrading the OS to a beta version. The opens up the Google Store and regular google apps for you (like photos, drive etc) which is a real bonus.
All in all it’s a great product and I’ve had a great customer experience despite some issues. I’ll continue to buy Anker products on this basis.
It is deff the best portable projector of all. I have tried several products, and this one is so far the best of all. No noisy at all, very portable and long lasting battery would allow you to watch two movies where ever you want. Well Done Nebula team
We got the capsule max as we couldn’t get a TV on the wall in our bedroom and it was a great decision. We project onto about a 2m wall and the picture is very sharp, much better than I expected for a portable projector. I particularly like that it is a smart projector and so has apps built in so you dont need to connect it to other devices. Once you have bought the device, email nebula support and ask to be put on their beta test programme and you can access Google play and apps such as sky go.
Overall the price is hefty but in my opinion its worth it.
Given the price, it is a question of what you need the projector to do. If you want one which remains in one place all of the time and will not be moved around that often then you can get better picture quality and sound for the money. However this was not what we wanted. It was the flexibility that was the real USP. Yes the picture quality will not tick everyone’s box and the sound is not top draw, but the device was required to move from room to room, was easy to set up and produced nice picture quality and sound. We did not require a home cinema and to this end the Capsule Max has ticked every box. We can take it camping and project onto the side of the tent or use in the garden for movie nights and connect the capsule to a power bank and run with full brightness for movies as long as Lord of the Rings. With a sound bar connected via Bluetooth you can easily boost sound quality. Having tested in a variety of room settings dark is obviously best and don’t expect to it outstanding in broad day light as it does not have the lumens to produce a crystal clear picture. Would i recommend it? Yes I would. Just be clear on what you want the device to do.
I have been looking at options of various home projectors for about a year. From BenQ to Epson, I have finally decided to go for Nebula Capsule, because of its design and various review on here, helps a lot. The delivery is super fast, faster than I expected, and the setup is very easy and super friendly. I have a very small living room in a one bed flat, the capacity of Nebula is just about right, having used both during the day and evening, have to say it’s perfect for hone entertainment, so far so good. And remember, even in the cinema, you will not get perfect HD effect as same as on the computer, I use this just to project on my white wall, it’s sufficient for me to watch films in the evening. The sound is just about right. Very happy about it as a first time user. Highly recommended especially it doesn’t take much space and the auto adjust function is brilliant, so you don’t have to worry about choosing the throw ratios etc. No regrets!
While working late one night in my conservatory I was looking at my large white wall and thought “a projector is what I need”. Being certain I didn’t want a TV or anything permanent in the room I set about doing some research. The Nebula Capsule series of products met my needs (small, built in speaker, wifi, on demand apps, tripod capable etc) and I remembered seeing it on The Gadget Show some time ago, so it was just a case of deciding which one to go for. The Max seemed to be the best fit. I was keen to be able to use the UK on demand apps such as iPlayer, All4, ITV Hub and My5 and I’d seen reviews where customer support help you set this up.
I took delivery of the Nebula Capsule Max after making use of the Amazon Prime deal. It was really easy to set up and within a matter of minutes Prime Video, Netflix and NowTV were working like a dream. I contacted Customer Support and they got back to me the next day with a method to get the UK on demand apps. I gave this a go and it all worked – iPlayer, ITV Hub and All4 all worked but no My5. I dropped a note back to Customer Support who had been checking back with me that things were all going ok and said how great I thought it was but no My5.
Well, the next day I had a file in my inbox to try and My5 is now working and I’m absolutely delighted. Thank you Nancy for your fantastic support!
The image is ideal for use in the conservatory at night which is the reason I bought the device. The autofocus is really quick to respond and the keystone correction enables me to really fill the wall with the picture. The fan is unobtrusive. The phone app saves you going mad typing in user names and passwords for the on demand apps and is really responsive to use. It has a standard tripod fitting and because it’s so small I don’t need to permanently locate it somewhere, I just bring it in the room when I want to use it and pop it in a cupboard when I don’t.
Another bonus was an extension cable I had for my Foscam cameras is a perfect fit for the power adapter so I don’t need to trail a chunky 3 pin plug extension cable into the middle of the conservatory – bonus!
This is probably my top tech purchase of the year and to top it all the Customer Service is superb.
Updated with photos from Star Wars being played on the NowTV app at dusk/early evening. The wall is 3m by 2m and it painted white. I was impressed!
Absolutely insane! Went through a few projectors before deciding to pony up the cash for this awesome device. I wish i had of done it sooner. Its everything you could possibly want in a portable projector. Get the official carry case and tripod and you will not be disappointed. Oh and make sure you use it on battery saver mode, its nearly silent and the picture seems just as good 🙂
The more I use this, the more I like it. You have to appreciate that it’s designed for portability and when used in conjunction with the carry case and tripod, provides a really nice portable projector. It’s not the brightest projector, but if you can get beyond that it has some really good features. I’ve had great support from Nebula customer services as well. Lots of apps to install. Internal storage and a HDMI and USB port for connectivity is nice as well.
This is a fabulous piece of kit. The picture quality is crisp, the sound is very clear and loud and you can also add Bluetooth speakers if outside. It does need to be in a shaded area for best picture quality.
Also there is an App for navigation as well as the remote.
Had the nebula capsule max for just over a week and my thoughts are this projector / portable media hub is amazing for trips away and garden entertainment , and also great for home movie nights on a big screen.
720p quality is very good in a darken room , but not anything like a 4K tv for detail and clarity , but the trade off is more than acceptable for watching a movies / Favourite series on a big screen. The Sound from the Max is also surprisingly good for such a small unit , I’m still trying to figure out a way of linking this up to my home Sonos surround system but not managed yet.
The main USP for this projector is the ability to play Netflix, amazon prime, iPlayer, itv player & more4 etc directly from the projector this is a great and works fantastic.
Decided to Contact nebula Customer support team re getting google play services beta added to the Max. They were great and very helpful, I promptly received a password to allow me to update and add the play store , google music etc , this all works great And not had any issues re download apps I have. also have a ipega game controller paired for games on a 100in screen, real racing 3 plays and looks great !!!
Would totally recommend buying the nebula tripod & carry case to add to the package,
Very pleased with purchase and would totally recommend to anyone wanting a totally portable setup.
Update : I have this now working with my sonos beam, sub & two play ones using a Sonru Bluetooth receiver with Sonos HDMI ARC to optical adapter plugged into the beam
And a trond Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the nebula capsule Max : this works with the APTX LL codec so no lip sync issues. Sounds amazing
Absolutely brilliant. I was cynical and reluctant to order after reading some reviews concerned with the speaker, turns out the speaker is brilliant. In fact, It’s brilliant. Great size, great image quality and great sound. And it really is barely bigger than a coke can.
We love the design of this product. The WiFi enabled functionality allows easy access to apps so you can have Iplayer, prime, NOWTV etc all on the projector itself rather than needing to stream from phone or use HDMI. Built in speaker is absolutely fine and no need to have an external in my view. Auto focus is great. So portable it’s amazing. We use it in the kitchen, sitting room etc. Battery life easily enough to get through a 2 hour film…not tried more than that but it does also play whilst plugged into the DC charger.
It could be brighter at 200 lumens but in all honesty we use it mostly on an evening when we just shut the blinds and have Family film nights.
Initial set up is a bit fiddly and I had to contact nebula via email to get a code to access the google play store to access a wider range of apps than on the proprietary App Store. Customer support (I liaised with Sharon) was top class. R&D are looking at how to smooth this out which will benefit the UK market (aimed currently more at North America in my view).
If you want a well designed and supported product which is fun and versatile we’d fully recommend it.
One of the best media products I’ve purchased recently. It’s a small cylinder of fun. It’s small enough to fit in your jacket pocket to be taken to your friends and family’s home for a movie/game night. The battery lasts for just under 2 hours with my use case but usually I always keep it plugged in.
In a dark room, the brightness level is extremely well for a vivid picture. Whereas it struggles in the presence of strong external light. Nevertheless with the lights off, it makes the experience more special. Similar to a cinema but in the comfort of your own room.
Good picture quality with resolution upto 720p. Enough to enjoy netflix shows and YouTube videos. It certainly can’t replace your 1080p monitor or 4k TV. Then again with 100inch of display, its for a completely different experience. Like watching movies for more emersive experience.
It comes with Android TV installed as its native OS. Although not all android apps work, majority of them works completely fine. The Google Play store isn’t available by default but it can be installed with the help of Google search.
It comes with a decent remote controller. But I find typing on it really frustrating. There is a Nebula Connect app which can be installed on your phone and use it as a trackpad for your Capsule. I find the Bluetooth pairing with the app take too long though. I have my wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad connected through USB dongle, so the typing and cursor control is much quicker and convenient. Normal USB mouse works fine too.
It has a good sound system with decent bass quality. The fan noise is noticeable but once the movie, video or sound starts playing, the noise completely mixes into background. Never had any issue with it.
Along with good products Nebula also have good customer service. I used the Nebula connect app to chat online with a staff about unlocking my Capsule. They were quick and helpful about it.
Overall I have high praise for this product and the people behind it.
Really easy to use, support team were good when I had an issue installing an app, fixed within 24hrs. Initial set up was a little fiddly as you need to use the onscreen keyboard to put in account/password details for apps like Netflix but you only need to do this once. Would recommend if you’re looking for a really portable projector for casual use.
Use this product in the bedroom. Mounted it on top of the headboard, so it projects with a huge screen onto the wall. Love the product. We attached google chrome cast so we have access to all compatible apps including Netflix, Prime, Disney, BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, 5, ITV and the list goes on. Particularly like being able to watch live tv by casting from the app.
We had a fault with the device we had. Had a short panic but contacted [email protected], they told me to post back my faulty device and they would post out a brand new one with fast delivery. All sorted now. Very smooth service with very polite staff. Love the device.
You can find cheaper mobile projectors but not with all theses features it’s the rolls Royce of this sector. I have a 4K projector in my lounge.
This is not much worse fabulous piece of machinery . Great Sound . 3 hour battery
Oh did I tell you customer service is world class
Special mention to Sharo
I wanted to like this so, so much. The Capsule is a stunning little projector. Very ‘Sonos Play 1’ in its build quality it’s pleasingly heavy and sounds absolutely amazing. If I bought on looks and gadget-factor alone then I’d have one for work and one for home!
Connectivity is great: HDMI, USB, screen mirror and native apps onboard. There seems to be enough storage to download a few films and carry them with you.
The Nebula autofocus is fantastic. Every time the unit is moved it projects a little focus target on the all and sorts itself out. The user interface (Android) is good if a little fiddly to use through the sexy looking touch controls on the top.
In a darkened room, it’s an adequate projector from about 2m away from the wall; in the daytime with no direct sunlight and projecting onto a white wall [which was the plan for work-related use it’s dreadful]. This is taking into account the settings for ‘Auto’ [‘eco’ mode when on battery] vs ‘standard’ [full] brightness which is the same as being plugged into the mains.
We tried the bedsheet in the garden thing for a home cinema experience and, while it sounds great, the brightness was just a bit “meh”. Once it gets past 10 pm in May in the UK it was fine but that’s a bit late to be *starting* movie night and that will get worse when the days get longer into the summer.
It was so much of a quandary that we broke out into full family argument on head vs heart. My teenage daughter led with the ‘heart’ and would kill to be able to take it to friends’ houses for movie night but at >400 it’s a bit pricey to ignore the ‘head’ argument.
Instead, I have bought the Nebula Mars II Pro for similar money which has a similar OS (older Android version), isn’t as compact, far less sexy but it is *significantly* brighter for a unit that’s only a little more than twice the size. You’re comparing one of the best portable projectors of 2018 (Mars) with the cutest of 2019. There’s not much to divide them except the extra ANSI Lumens.
The world is changing and so finally are Projectors, the market for portable projectors is growing, and although they are not able to give you 4k, you don’t really need it unless you are projecting 100s of inches.
The design or the Nebula capsule is really good (one exception is the position for usb, Hdmi and power attachments, positioned at the back make it virtually impossible to project onto a ceiling with out a full size stand, i would have moved them to the side if possible).
I really liked being able to control it from my phone using the app.
Picture quality is very good in a dark environment, and fairs a little better that others in ambient light conditions, I would have also liked some manual controls for the picture colour, contrast etc which I could not find
It has a good auto focus tool, I did find the automatic vertical keystone to work much better than the horizontal, so you would want it set up fairly straight on.
The sound is pretty good for it’s size but I did find if I wanted to quietly enjoy watching something I struggled as I would need the volume up to mask the sound of the fan, which has always been I projector issue.
The Nebula’s strongest features are its portability, battery life (which is enough to watch a movie) and picture quality.
In a space that is being filled with many portable projectors I feel this is one of the best which is reflected it its price, but if it is to be used regularly it is probably worth the extra investme
This is great for portability. Project it on a wall, cealing or projector screen. I managed to get a great picture at 80 inches across. It’s not the brightest or the highest resolution but still a great little projector for the price. Hdmi socket for playing blurays at 720p or use the built in apps, BBC iplayer, Netflix and YouTube.
Bluetooth the audio to separate speakers or use it as a Bluetooth speaker.
Download more apps from the store to play games or just browse the Internet.
Customer service from Anker is great too. I was unlucky enough to break my charger. I contacted them asking if I could buy another and they sent me a new one for free.
I would definitely recommend this product.
We are happy with this device, the only thing which disappointed is DC input so you can’t use ordinary powerbank with it. I asked customer support about which power bank I can use and they answered that we need a special one, perhaps they meant a laptop portable charger (it cost about 75GBP). Netflix, Youtube, AmazonPro work well and the battery is enough to watch a few movies (if you reduce brightness). It is better to use DC charger if you use 200 lumens regime.
I good quality picture and sound. Unfortunately the apps freeze sometimes and the general navigation around the apps such as Netflix and Amazon is not as user friendly with the remote as it could have been. Best to purchase with a stand.
What a great little projector. Before buying I did my research, and narrowed down to a few. I needed it to be small, good battery life, internal storage, and be able to download movies to view offline using prime video, nowTv, netflix among others. Contacting customer services for each device sealed the deal for the Nebula. They replied fast and new their product, others were vague. I’m very pleased with my decision.
The max is well built and performs as advertised. The fan noise is low, picture is great in low light (as with any projector if you want blacks). I easily get the 4 hour run time with WiFi off, picture mode on auto, playing downloaded movies. The speakers are clearly tuned for speech and smooth movie soundtracks sound good, but just OK for music compared to a decent Bluetooth speaker(horses for courses). AC charging only isn’t as convenient usb, not sure why Anker chose this for such a portable device although the battery does last well. Oh, and it doesn’t get hot at all (not even warm).
I’m really happy with the max and coupled with a 40″ roll up screen, makes for a great mini cinema in my VW camper, just brilliant!
Update; I’ve now connected a game controller and play android games. Even pick up where you left off from your phone (or visa versa) using Google play.
I bought to use instead of a TV, just for Netflix etc and it’s been great. The drawback is it does have to be a bit dark to watch anything but I am fine with that, my living room doesn’t get much light anyway.
Also really pleasantly surprised by the sound. When I first turned it on I could hear the fan which I thought would be really distracting but I forgot about it as soon as any sound started playing. Somehow it manages to achieve a more surround sound feel which is really good when you’re watching films.
I’m sure if you’re super picky about image and sound quality (which I’m not) I’m you could find issues there, but honestly given the price, convenience and size I think it would be hard not to be impressed by it.
Anker customer service has been amazing too, and all in all I’m really happy with it.
It’s the size of a coke can, solidly built and well finished, it’s also very quiet, it has android built in with it’s own app store – although you can side load more updated versions of the apps like Plex, Kodi, Amazon and Netflix. I also added a tiny micro sd card adapter with a 400gb micro sdcard for on the road entertainment.
In practice the unit is crisp and bright enough in a dimly lit room if you don’t try to super size the image. I found a 40″ image was about right. I ended up pairing it with a free standing screen: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073VV321P
It plays all kinds of media thanks to the apps and it had no problem with HEVC 10bit content (for those who have switched to newer codecs). Anything over 720p is handled by hardware scaling, I went upt o 4k content just to see and it played flawlessly at 720p which is still crisp but lacks a bit of detail compared to 4k but at 40inches it makes little difference.
You can go bigger with a darker room. In practice though you can’t beat physics and at 200 lumens you’d be hard pressed to hit 80 inches with satisfactory brightness. Make sure you set the projector to use max brightness even when on batteries.
At the same time you also have to understand that this is a compact, portable, 720p, android based projector with 3-4 hours of battery life (if you’re not on mains) that works really well and is well designed and solidly built.. So you’d be dreaming if you expect a bright 100inch picture but you’ll also never have to change a bulb since it’s an LED light source.
I’ve received one firmware update since I’ve had it and had occassion to try the Anker support who were excellent and resolved the problem quickly and efficiently. I haven’t really tried the app remote since the physical remote is good.
I’d also recommend a tripod for it since you’ll want to angle it sometimes. Anker make once for it but you can buy similar for cheaper: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D6NG3XR
It also fits in this case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VJMD98N although I had to poke some holes in it to store the UK plug attachment. It’s a clever power supply that has fold out US prongs and comes with a slide on UK attachment. Would be handy if it came with EU adapter as well.
I’m not a tech savvy person but this projector is amazing. Such a small thing but can do so much. I watch youtube and netflix for most of the time. the cooling system is brilliant, I would probably overheat any other projector with the number of hours this small thing is on. Auto focus in 1 second, very clear image and good brightness. On a very sunny day I need to pull at least one curtain to make the room darker, but this is understandable (it’s not a TV in the end). I absolutely love this projector (as well as my kitty)! And last but not least – the customer service is outstanding here. If any issues with your purchase, you can be sure they will look after you in a pleasant and timely manner! 100% recommend this seller and the Capsule MAX!!!
We bought this for our 28 year old sons birthday. He likes to travel light. This is product is perfect for him. He uses it to watch films and as a monitor when using his phone as a computer. Ideal for both plus its super transportable. Sound could be a little better but otherwise great product.
I had a real issue when choosing between the Capsule Max versus the Capsule II. The Max is the better product, better UI, Netflix & Prime on the main menu, great keystone correction, but….. no USB C port to charge it, only a messy external adapter and a pain to remember to carry with you.
There is a great cheap solution though which lets you recharge from a USB adapter or powerbank. The
‘MERES 1M/3ft USB Cable for Amazon echo [1st + 2nd generation] | Echo Plus | Amazon fire TV 2 Power Supplier – USB 5V to DC 15V | 3.5mm Outside Diameter’ is designed to run Echo devices from a portable a powerbank and converts 5v to 15v, its seems to do the job perfectly on the Capsule Max. So now I have the best of both worlds!

I brought this product for use in my motor home and I can say it was worth every penny . I am not a new user to projectors I have a top end Epsom at home all though you can’t compare them so I did not know quite what the picture quality would be like . Please be assured this little projector packs a punch and is quite watchable in dimly lit rooms in dark rooms quite remarkable! Sound is great for such a small unit overall very impressive product. I had to contact customer support not for a problem but some technical help and can say that they responded In double quick time . So to sum up great product great customer service if you are looking for a palatable projector look no further. Thank you nebula best regards Tim.
I have had various projectors with varying degrees of stisfaction but the Nebula Max takes things to a new level.
The ease of use, portability, pricture quality and UI are excellent.
Admittedly I have only had the product for a couple of days so cannot vouch for the battery quality but as this is made by Anker I have no reason to doubt the performance.
Recommended.
Great fun projector to carry around .. sound quality is not great but given the size no complaints as such ..
Brightness ok in dark rooms ..
I exchanged this for the Mars 2 pro model which I felt is better value for model .. it’s much brighter and sound quality is much better. But when it comes to portability nothing can beat this
The Anker Nebula Max was one of the best purchases I made this year during the Black Friday weekend. This is such an amazing piece of kit that I am so looking forward to next summer to watch some movies in the garden.
It’s got native Apps for Netflix, Amazon Video, VLC, YouTube to list a few and they all work perfectly.
My only issue with this is that I wish it used a USB-C cable or the like for charging so I could buy a really long one rather than the charger it comes with.
Have to say having tried a few cheaper alternatives before like the one from elephas this one is mind blowing.
I recently upgraded to this from the 1st capsule. What a great piece of kit , the original was good but this is much better clarity , Well worth the money , it is bigger but still a reasonable size. One good thing is you can off set the capsule to one side and not have to have it in front of the screen ………. fantastic
The projection quality is perfect, as is image brightness. The OS is a little clunky to use at times but the nebula app makes it much easier.
