Other Uses
Soil Conditioner
Soil / Compost Conditioner
Plants attacked by root rot are unable to take up nutrients and will die off. This is reduced when fish meal is applied.
Great for helping plants grow quicker and stronger, whilst also preventing disease.
Helps bring life back to your soil by aiding the replenishment of local earthworms and adding much needed nutrients to the soil to increase growth and health of plants growing in the area.
Perfect to use while mixing into your compost. Still has worms in the mix. Not economical to use as a main substrate, but very effective as a part mix. Try 20/30/50 mix of worm castings, perlite and typical compost. If you have more money than sense, you can skip the compost part and use 70/30 mix of worm castings and perlite. Just beware these castings are quite clay like and will retain a lot of moisture.
The best I have bought yet, Superb quality and consistency, no bugs in my bag, no worms either, wouldn’t of minded some free worms for my bin, really good value for money, WELL DONE, will buy again.
Worm casting are an excellent amendment to use in the garden. Very fertile and great to plant in/with. My only issue is that it is expensive. A longterm solution would be to make a worm bin.
Quality stuff this even has living worms in. I’ve had a lot of stuff from elixir recently and have now set up account directly with them. Everything I needed to build a powerful organic living soil.
Quality stuff, clean and consistent.. I’ve never used the any other brand but I can tell this is good quality.. plus in the UK we don t have a massive range to pick from, solid pack too
Worm soil I used this to top up my seed trays on top of normal compost and propagating tubs. It was nice to handle, fine and easily smoothed out and is giving good results .I shall buy some more next season.
Since I wrote this review, I ordered again and they have changed the supplier – the one I reviewed before was supplied by an English company, this is now from Ireland – and am not sure this new one is fungus gnat free. As I said in my earlier review, I preferred Elixir’s worm humus to Biobizz because it contained no fungus gnat eggs, now am no longer sure this is true. Can’t be totally sure, because had previously (stupidly) used a Biobizz dry organic fertiliser, and immediately noticed fungus gnats re-appearing after not having seen any since I stopped using Biobizz worm humus. But I stopped using the fertiliser a while ago, and since treated repeatedly with BTI (a bacterial product which kills mosquito larvae and controls fungus gnat – only totally eradicating them with repeated use) and it seems new flies are emerging from recently potted up items, and I’ve changed nothing else in my mix. Also, the confusing info on the new product put me off: it is labelled as “organic compost” then goes on to say it’s “fortified with worm humus”, so contacted Elixir to confirm this was 100% worm humus before opening the bag. They replied promptly and assured me it was, and the contents of the bag confirmed this. Maybe labelling customs for this type of product are different in Ireland – worm is organic compost, sure, but here, it is not usually marketed as such, and the reference to being “fortified” with worm humus is simply confusing: if it’s worm humus, and nothing else, it’s not “fortified”. Like the old product, this has a good, even consistency. Worm humus is an excellent fertiliser and additive, you can add it to growing media, mulch/top-dress with it, and use it to make compost tea. So, this is also a good product, excepting not being sure about the fungus gnats. If I find out for sure, one way or another, I will try to update this review, so far, have not deducted any stars..
This is the review I wrote for the old product: This is excellent quality worm humus, very even and fine in consistency. Worm humus/castings, even from reliable suppliers, often seems to contain eggs or larvae of fungus gnats (the little black flies that crawl over compost and fly around plants when disturbed – the larvae eat fine plant roots, so not good for seedlings, and they spread diseases between plants), but so far, have noticed none in this. It is also good value for money, especially the larger quantities, and arrived within or before the estimated delivery date. After long-term use, can now say for sure that there are no fungus gnat eggs in this, so will be buying this brand from now on. I mix my own seed compost using cocos, some sieved top soil and worm castings, and when I used BioBizz worm humus, I always had a problem with fungus gnats appearing a few days after seeds were sown. Using same ingredients, but this worm humus, and not a fungus gnat in sight, so am very pleased I tried this brand.

I found many live worms not sure if it is a good thing. There is no fungus growth though.
Plants seem to be growing well.
