I have had 3 operations my ACL 7 years ago, meniscus and just had a partial knee replacement two and a half weeks ago. I’ve have hired the Cryo machines from the physio in the past so I did the research and the reviews for this one are spot on. I’m so happy I decided to buy rather than hire. Worth every penny, my knee was 3 times the size and the throbbing was stopping my sleep but I’m nearly back to normal and I would just add. Lots of ice as everyone has stated but also, drain the cuff after each session as the water in the cuff after each session becomes warm!!!
Bought this after having a complete left ACL reconstruction using part of my hamstring.
My knee was very swollen, the pain wasn’t terrible but I certainly knew about it!
Anyway I decided to buy this to help reduce the swelling and get the physio exercises underway as my knee was difficult to bend due to the swelling.
I set it up without using the instructions as it’s pretty self explanatory and then double checked the instructions to make sure I’d done it correctly (personally I found them pretty easy to understand)
Added the recommended water and ice and strapped the cuff on, breathed a big sigh of satisfaction as the cold compresses started to do its work.
It’s very comfortable to wear and very effective. The fact it compresses is it’s big benefit, it feels a bit like a blood pressure monitor squeezing your leg (but not that hard) while the cold water circulates. You can set the timer from 20 – 90 seconds this is how long the cuff compression lasts it then releases and there’s a small pause before the process repeats until you switch it off. Personally I found around the 50 second mark a nice balance.
As I write this I’ve had the machine a day and already the benefits are showing. My surgery was two days ago so my leg was still very swollen. This compress has worked wonders though.
The only real downside to it is it’s quite noisy as the pump operates but hey it’s worth it to get the relief it brings this might be an issue if you planned to try and sleep with it on. I wear headphones so it’s not really an issue for me as I won’t here it.
If you want to get mobile again asap this is definitely worth the investment. Not sure why others have struggled with its operation? It’s a simple system and easy to operate and refill. All you need is ice….
As long as you have something slightly higher than your bed next to you (bedside table etc) and a PowerPoint you are good to go.
Set the timer and relax as it does its work
The cuff is fully adjustable for tightness and will fit most size legs and its very comfortable to wear.
I highly recommend this product and I’m sure even after I heal from this operation I will find use for it as a ice therapy tool for my combat sports and weight training.
Excelle
It arrived on time. Easy to assemble. Found on the first time of use I put too much ice in and froze my husbands leg!! So use a little ice and add to if it’s not cold enough. Works extremely well and took the swelling down in 2 uses. Worth every penny. Excelle
Only used it a couple of times to try it out before my operation and it works really well.
Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Had a new half knee operation 3 weeks ago and used this every day since on and off every hour. It is very easy to set up and use (more ice the better). Has really brought the swelling down and eased my pain.
I thought at first it was quite expensive but now I am glad I got it as I don’t know how I would have coped otherwise. I had a knee op last year and just used frozen peas all the time and was permanently in pain up to 3 months. This has made such a difference I would now say it’s great value and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
It is expensive but had been worth it. Meant I could take it up to bed with me at night and ice my knee on and off throughout the night to reduce swelling and ease pain.
Worked well for me when I had a knee replacement. Helped with the swelling.
I bought one after having a total knee replacement. I had been using one in hospital to help with the swelling and pain in my left knee. It has been absolutely amazing it has got the swelling down to almost none after daily use for 2 weeks with the swelling gone most of the pain has gone with it. I am now able to go up and down stairs without my crutches and do small walks unaided I would recommend this product for anyone who has had an operation on there knee or is planning to have one. I will be having the same operation on my right knee in 2023 so for me it was well worth the money i will also be getting about 10 bags of party ice in for when i get home to start using right away.
Just what you need after an knee operation it really helps with the pain..
am using the product as i write this review! Thanks to all the posts for their insights as they helped me choose this cryotherapy ahead of my knee ACL replacement with hamstring reconstruction. Brilliant piece of kit and really helping me get back on my feet and knee bent! My doctor recommended the Gameready system but that is very expensive for a few weeks rehab so opted for this one. The biggest surprise is how much pain management this offers, which means immediately from surgery using this machine means I didn’t need much pain medication only occasional ibuprofen. Would recommend
Significantly helped the healing process by reducing swelling after knee op.
Pressure applied can be controlled to suit comfort level.
Great piece of kit and will definitely recommend.
I recently had a knee replacement & rented a similar if slightly larger machine for 325 for 4 weeks. It was excellent and helped with my recovery. I have since purchased this which was half the price and I can keep it for other occasions when it may be needed It is smaller and more mobile. I am very pleased with this. It is excellent value for money.
I have had this for a short while now but it works really well and has helped my long term knee issues after a motorbike accident. The automated system works really well as it is constantly circulating ice cold water inside the knee wrap. I found other units with pads you freeze really don’t last very long. If you are dealing with knee inflammation and are at your wits end I recommend this.
I used this straight after my skiing accident. A lot of money but worth every penny. I was given a aircast cryocuff after surgery last week, this is much better. Change pressure timings, better pressure and doesn’t leak.
If you want to take your rehab seriously, use this. Also buy a COMPEX SP4 for muscle atrophy!
The instructions are very poor but, once you have worked out what to do ( there are conflicting photos showing how the water enters the knee cuff – we think the tube should be at the top) this kit is a comfort, both in terms of pain relief and to help reduce swelling.
I have no clue how we would have coped without this. Bought for hubby knee replacement surgery recovery massive help with pain and swelling. Worth every penny
