I am having to plant 1000 daffodil bulbs. After much research, I tried this planter along with another highly recommended bulb planter., Unfortunately the Gardenace is not sturdy enough for the tough Worcestershire clay and soon lost its circular cutting edge and bent to a warped shape. The serrated teeth are good and the soil release works ok ,but the handle is not wide enough and. Is fairly uncomfortable. This product is more at home in soft loamy or sandy soils.The Kent & Stowe Stainless Steel Long Handled Bulb Planter is a better product.

I was sceptical, but was surprised to find that it did the job about 50% of the time in my untended, undug garden. The ground was damp, and so better to work with than when bone dry or too wet. The tool affords a useful start in places where I would have lost heart. You need to deepen the hole with a trowel in most cases. Daffodils and tulips like to be 6 inches deep and at full depth this will only give you a hole of 4 inches not allowing for the bulb itself. Remember though it isn’t a magic wand: large stones, bricks, rocks, tree roots and tough clumps of ivy will of course still need special attention. It’s rather pricey for what it is, but everything, including the spring-loaded handle, speaks heavyweight quality. There are other planting uses for it as well, especially vegetables i would have thought, but basically this is something of a luxury item which would make a good present for a gardener who normally labours on with the traditional fork, trowel and dibbe
MADE IT EAST TO PLANT MY RUNNER BEANS AS HAVE JUST HAD PACEMAKER FITTED SO NO STREACHING ALLOWED.
Very happy with this purchase, easy to use, sturdy and saves a lot of back breaking work. Would recommend.
Excellent bit of kit, great build quality. Perfect for making holes in the garden for my bulbs. Speeds up a normally labour intensive and back breaking task and makes planting bulbs easier. I wish I’d bought one sooner!!
I bought this a while ago and have come back to write a review after a bit of use as it is genuinely a great bit of kit!
I work in a kitchen garden and we’ve bought an extra one of these so that we don’t fight over it when planting (or digging out massive weeds)!
Sturdy construction and just does what you need it to do.
The little planting card is actually bang on as well, handy for home gardeners I’d imagine.
An excellent product, well packaged, arrived on the day I was told it would arrive. Makes by garden planting so much easier, the soil release is great. A marvellous addition to my garden tools. 5star product.
Gone are the days of a bad back after a day gardening.
Very pleased with this product. It is well made and as described. Notably, the automatic soil release mechanism works wonderfully. The soil in the flower beds I was working in was reasonably loose and I was able to make numerous holes and drop the bulbs in afterwards. It took minutes to then reinstate the soil at once using a rake.
Being someone that suffers from a bad back and with a load of bulbs to plant I needed to find myself a tool that would ease my challenge.
I came across The GARDENACE it looked well engineered and when it arrived I was certainly not disappointed, a well deserved 5 stars from me.
Life is going to be so much easier now.
Brilliant design and easy to use. For years I’ve used a handheld one and this is so much better, you can get much more power behind it with your legs. Better for your back, much quicker over large areas and it’s a sturdy feeling tool so looks like it will last.
Very well-built and useful tool that makes planting large numbers of bulbs into grassland very light work. Recommended.
