I’ve been using the 12.5lb set for the last 3 months, such good quality I bought a pair of the heavier 25lb ones as well. They’re great value (looks like they also runs promotions I got 40 off), don’t take up much space and very easy to adjust the weight.
They work well, for some reason the two I bought the selector mechanism is reversed/ mirrored from one to the other which seems like a manufacturing mistake, but doesn’t really matter.
Main gripe is the surprising amount of rattling noise that comes from the weights when using them. I would have assumed that at that price they would remain solid and not make a clattering sound.
Overall, pretty good, and obviously way more convenient than having a bunch of different sets of dumbbells, also can be dialed down to a weight that my wife can use so that’s also useful.
This is my second set of adjustable weights, I have a 55lbs one and really liked it.
The switching mechanism works well, doesn’t hang and is easy to use. I like that this takes less than 25% of the space a similar old school system would.
They are a bit pricey due to shipping costs but they’re worth it in my opinion.
I’m 64 years young and was looking for a versatile piece of equipment that didn’t take up much room but also gave me options for working out.
I’ve been working out most of my life. As we get older lifting too heavy can cause injuries that seem to take forever to heal. With this equipment I can lift 5 pounds for body parts that are weak and 25 pounds for body parts that are strong with the simple turn of a handle…:)
You can spend more money on more expensive equipment but us old retired folks have to live on a budget. And when you buy used you have to sometimes deal with “interesting” people…:)
This transaction was easy to do and the equipment was what I expected. It works well. It seems like it will last a long time. And it’s nice to know that I can compliment my cardio workouts with weight lifting and not have to go to a gym.
The product arrived quickly(but it was shipped about 300 miles away from my location which might have had something to do with it.).
Easy to use and holding up well so far. Been using 3-4 times a week for a few months and no issues.
REVISED REVIEW: after my previous review I was contacted by costumer service and they sent me two brand new dumbells. Great costumer service!!!!
OLD REVIEW: I liked these at first however, one of my dumbbells won’t turn anymore and pick up any more weight plates. It’s stuck on 5 and I’ve tried everything to fix it. Really disappointing for how much I paid for them.
I love the form factor they look sleek easy to use and nice handle and versatility if weight modes
*** Update ***
Seller contacted me and immediately shipped me a new dumbbell that works well! Great customer service!! Shipping was a nightmare except for this dumbbell. Thanks!!
I was really excited about these dumbbells when I ordered them, especially when I saw they each go up to 25 lbs. Great! So I bought two, at the same time, in the same order. The first dumbbell was delivered next day. Looks great and works perfectly. The second dumbbell never showed up and had to be reordered TWICE. The second dumbbell was FINALLY delivered 5 days later, and not only did a few of the weights fall onto my big toe, you can’t even turn the middle to change the weights or get any of the discs to lock. I know how to use it – the one that was delivered first is perfect. So I have one dumbbell that works and one useless one, after a ridiculous delivery hassle. No bueno.
I love these. Easy to use and only takes up space of one dumb bell.
This thing is the coolest, it’s so easy to use that my 8 year can twist it back to the smaller weights when he uses this. Definitely a good starter set.
I could see one day wishing I could add more weight to these. That said, these are easy to adjust from 5 to 25 lbs in 5 lbs increments, compact, and well designed. They won’t roll away, relatively quite, and the storage tray has cut outs for your fingers so they’re easy to pick up and put away. The plates lock securely and the bar has a nice grip. I eventually bought two and wish I had from the start. I haven’t had them long but I adjust them frequently for different exercises and they definitely seem durable. If I can remember I’ll update this in 6 months and one year.
I purchased these for my niece when she moved into her new flat as a house warming gift. The flat is fairly small with not much space or storage. This adjustable set of weights are just perfect. Very portable and easily adjusted just by the turn of the handle. Once you have chosen your required weight, the pieces will automatically lock in place, making it safe to start your workout. The weights range from 2.5lbs to 12.5lbs. The grip is made from a high-strength nylon material which prevents your hold from slipping when working out. Due to its compact design and size it’s easily stored away in a small area. Perfect for my niece’s exercise requirements and also saving her money on purchasing multiple sets of weights. They seem durable and well made. So far no problems or concerns.
These are great for what they are. There is a little difficulty sometimes sliding the weights in and out of the base, but honestly, I think this is part of the nature of the beast with weights like this. Maybe the really high-priced options are better but they’re also really high priced. I would recommend these for anyone who is doing general at home fitness on a budget.
This has all of the features of more pricey competitors and worth the price. Easy to use. Smart design. Compact. Love it.
I was a little concerned about the weights falling out. The way this works is the handle/grip rotates allowing you to set the desired weight. Once the weight is set, you lift the dumbbell off the holder. Well, after lots of testing, happy to report I have not as yet smashed my feet from a weight falling out. In all seriousness, the dumbbell does a good job of locking in weights. It’s felt solid and the handle gives a good click when setting to indicate the handle has moved to a new position. It’s great to be able to have a set like this instead of a whole bunch of different pairs of weights.
My teenage son loves these. I originally bought one, and ended up buying another. Great for small spaces.
Had some issues with the initial product, after sales service was excellent. Quality item and would recommend
I really enjoy having this product. I bought two of these and haven’t had any horrible experiences yet. Yes it can be a little tricky picking up the weights and putting them back on the base but honestly that’s something to expect with any product that has moving parts like this. The key is to lift the dumbbell straight up and not at an angle. I haven’t had any issues switching to a different weight. And when using them I feel like it’s secure and that nothing would move and possibly drop one of the weights. I like that these come with a base that the barbell sit in. I appreciate the user design that went into this product. The base has finger grips at the bottom to make it easier to pick up and carry both the base and the dumbbell. Overall I’m glad I bought these. Even though you might not be able to get every single possible weight like you would at a gym, it saves so much space having several weights in one. If you are concerned about space then I highly recommend this product. I know Bowflex has a version of this that’s WAY more expensive and even though I haven’t tried it I’m convinced that this product is just as good.
Although they aren’t the cutest weights I’ve ever seen, these are a game changer as far as functionality! I love that I get so many weight sizes and it’s so compact! I’d love to see this in a more “aesthetically” pleasing color or design (not a dealbreaker, I just like cute fitness gear lol) but I would highly recommend these!
A small issue with replacing dumbell in carrier, when using weights under maximum weight, is easily out wayed by convenience. Very comfortable and nicely affordable. I am accustomed to much heavier weights but for my wife and I, getting some execise easily during this pandemic is paramount. And reps can be increased to get a more intense workout with lighter weight.
I like these more in theory than I do in practice. These accomplish the goal I wished to in that they take up less space than individual weights. I think these make more sense in a larger range of weight for my use. As it is, the weight is very large for the lower weight options. I tend to do barre and cardio type workouts with the 2.5-7.5 and these are very cumbersome for that. The large size creates a weird balance and is just unwieldy and awkward. I end up using a set of lightweights I already have more and am planning to buy a set of 5 lb weights instead of using these. I do like these just fine for the upper ranges. The quality is good and the price seems to consider the cost of what the weights would be if you purchased individually.
I’ve been looking for adjustable weights for sometime but couldn’t find the weight range I wanted – these are 5-25 lbs and work great. They take a little finesse to put back on the holder but for the price they are super easy to use, I’ve been using them for almost 3 months now, a few times a week with zero issues. Would recommend 🙂
UPDATE:
I have changed my rating to five stars due to this company’s excellent customer service.
THEY SAW MY REVIEW AND THEY CONTACTED ME. They apologized for the problems I experienced and offered to send me a new set of weights. I agreed and within a couple of weeks I had a new pair of weights that work! Both of the weights in the new set turn. One takes a little more effort to turn but I am still able to turn it with one hand. The weights are now easy to use and work great. We love them!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Theses weights are a great idea and would be great if they both worked. One of the two turns fine and is easy to adjust. The other one takes two hands and all of your strength to turn. It is very, very difficult and in fact I cut my knuckles trying to turn it. If these both worked they would be five stars but only one working and the other causing injury is a loss of stars.
These are so convenient and space saving for the once or twice a week user. I love them!
Best dumbells for the price not only that doesn’t take up any estra space. Have been using now for a month and could not be any happier with the product which is well made and convenient.
I’ve been a novice for years – I can never stick with a workout routine for more than 3 – 4 months at a time, and by the time I get around to starting again, I’m almost back to square 1. Over the years, my starting out strength has gotten stronger – when I began my fitness journey years ago, I began with 5 lb. weights. My starting point now is 10 lbs. If I can ever keep myself motivated, these weights will be good for several years. I’m older, and that’s likely how long it would take me to build up to the full 25 lbs of this hand weight.
The only thing with this weight is that switching from one weight to another is a little time consuming. It’s not like having an assortment of weights lying around and just grabbing one. If you’re trying to add weight, you have to take your time to align it perfectly so it slides in all the way so you can catch however many more plates you want to add. But otherwise, using it is very easy. You just twist the handle. The weights are imprinted on the handle so that the selected weight is showing on the top as you look down at it. Twist it so that the number 5 is on top, and you have a 5 lb weight. Twist it all the way in the other direction to where 25 shows on top, and you have a 25 lb weight. I could not be happier with this!
This set covers all the bases while being compact and easy to store.
I picked this up for my son, who wanted some light weights for exercising. As someone who really never used “adjustable” style weights, I was pleasantly surprised when I was playing with this. It’s quite sturdy, despite the fact that it was relatively easy to change the weight. Although I don’t think this will make me break up with my kettle bells (and really that’s an unfair comparison), it is a really nice piece of equipment if you are looking for something adjustable.
Since the start of the COVID pandemic, I have begun working out more at home. Over the past 18 months, I have accumulated more home gym equipment. I have some high end adjustable dumbbells that I really like, but I wanted something that was a bit lighter for using toning exercises as opposed to working major muscle groups.
These smaller adjustable dumbbells are compact, sturdy, and easy to adjust. They are great for doing smaller muscle groups and for warmups. The quality is pretty good and they are similar to a number name brand dumbbells on the market. When I set a specific weight, the weights do not slip off.
These are a good set of dumbbells if you need an adjustable set of lighter weights. These work great in my home gym, but they would also work quite well if use them in an office where you want to get some light upper body exercise throughout the business day. They are a little pricey but still cheaper than many name brands.
Like:
(+) Space Saver -compared to my old school dumbell, these occupies very little space in my garage.
(+) Ease of Use -unlike my name brand (B*wflex) adjustable dumbells this is relatively easy to use out of the box and wouldn’t require you to smack it around to work.
(+) Ergonomic Handles -are a welcome addition however, I still prefer to use weight lifting gloves for added comfort.
Dislike:
(+) None at the moment but I hope it also last as long as my previous name brand adjustable dumbel.
Bottom Line:
My gripe for this type of dumbell equipment is its durability especially the locking mechanism. However, after a month of using these dumbells (about 3x-4x per week) the locking mechanism just continued to work every time. And as expected, each pIates are securely attached to the handle every use and never did I feel any of the plates will fall out during workouts. That said this is an easy 5-star.
These are so easy to use and starting out slowly and slowly increasing the weight over time I’m very happy with these dumbbells the price also was a great idea and these are a space saver I’m glad I chose to add these to my work out schedule and I am sure you will too
These are amazing! I had been looking for something similar to the bow flex adjustable weights. These are a great option for a fraction on the cost. Very easy to adjust. Just turn the middle handle bar while they are sitting in their rack. Fit my needs perfectly. I’m so happy with these dumbbells.
I think these are a good value for the money.. The other big brand name was way out of my budget.
These do the job.
If you have never used a set like this before, the concept is simple. Instead of having a number of individual dumbells of various weights, you get a compact unit with removable plates. This is not SO different than having a free weight set with a dumbell rod and individual plates, but this puts everything together in an easy to store and compact package. To change the weight, you simply remove plates. This particular model goes from 5 lbs to 25 lbs. The plates are fairly easy to remove and replace, and the hand grip is comfortable enough for me (a small handed female) to use. The size and shape of the dumbell does take some getting used to, since the smaller sizes still have the large, awkward handgrip. If you are used to using smaller hand weights while exercising, you may not be happy with this, but you can always pick up a few smaller ones for that purpose. I’m happy with this set despite the drawbacks. The compact nature and the ease of storage more than makes up for the awkward size when using the smaller weights.
This is a high quality dumbbell. Note that it is sold singly, not a set of two. The adjustment from one weight to the next is super easy. With the dumbbell sitting firmly in the holder, you just twist the handle toward the floor or toward the ceiling. The rounded pentagonal handle is marked with the weights in 5 lb increments from 5 to 25. On the 5 setting, when you lift the handle all the plates remain in the holder. Each plate is 2.5 lbs; the handle set itself is 5 lbs. You can return it to the holder, and twist the handle to latch onto more plates depending on what weight you want to use. It is slightly tricky to return the handle to the base when it is 5 lbs because the plates are loosely standing in the base. With the heavier weights, since there are fewer loose plates to return the handle to, it is easier. The plates are securely held to the handle while in use, and unless the handle is sitting securely in the base, the handle cannot rotate. I have zero fear that a plate might fall during use. It is an excellent adjustable dumbbell.
For the majority of 2020 and the first-half of 2021, I was relegated to exercising at home vs the gym because of the whole COVID-19 quarantine. I had been lifting weights and exercising at the gym since my freshmen year of high school when I joined the football team, needless to say, I had no idea how to even begin working out at home. What I did know for certain was that gym equipment was EXPENSIVE, especially free weights and dumbbells of varying weight and supply was not able to keep up with demand.
I was able to buy basic gym equipment to turn my spacious garage into a make-shift gym, with missing gym equipment made out of items found in my house (gallon jug filled with rocks served as a dumbbell.. I know…). I then stumbled upon Hapbear’s adjustable dumbbells, which I had seen different variations of but they were astronomically priced (dumbbell sets similar to these roughly averaged $200). So, for Hapbear to price these so low, I wondered what the issue would be or if they’d break upon the 3rd or 4th use but I was wrong. Dead-lift wrong (some gym humor for you lol).
This adjustable dumbbell set by Hapbear is has some really amazing features, such as:
(video included with review for reference).
– Incredibly durable and well-built, with an easy-to-use clicking system that changes weight distribution.
– The numbers thatdesignate which weight you are choosing are clearly legible, accompanied by a red line that centers directly above the weight number to ensure proper placement.
– The tray that the dumbbells sit in serves as both a convenient storage device for putting away and releases the remaining weights that aren’t used during physical activity.
The one downside is that the weights only go to up 12.5 lbs, limiting effective exercises but that’s not enough of a reason for me to deduct a star. I can still do multiple exercises with the weight that is available on the dumbbells and get a solid workout in at my home-gym. I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to those who are looking for a solution to having an abundant amount of free weights haphazardly placed everywhere!
…adjustable dumbbell.
Both the same weight range, but just a bit different.
Today, I used one in each hand during my strength training workout.
While I think the description on the product page could use a good, fine tuned translation massage, I’m going to zero in on this:
No clanging of plates; it’s true with this one; yay.
The other one (same price range) does clang the plates.
Faster adjustment: The starting weight is the full dumbbell weight, 25#.
From there, the handle turns one direction to decrease the weight in 5# increments, or back the other direction to add weight back on.
You always adjust the weight while it is in the plastic base and then lift to use. I would love it if they included little rubber or silicone feet for the bottom of the plastic base, for those of us that are now doing our workouts in our living rooms.
There is a red line on the top of the dumbbell to indicate what weight you have selected. If you look closely at the picture on the product page, you can see on the handle the weight on the actual handle. I would have liked THAT weight to also have red paint or something really easy to see. Not that it’s that hard to see, but it’s black indented numbers on black plastic (or whatever that part is made of). No biggie, but a “nice to have”.
From the product manual in the package, there was a statement that I found confusing, or maybe there was a design change last minute, I don’t know…
From page 4:
“Keep the safety lock unlocked and adjust the weight by rotating the handle to choose the preferred weight for your personalized exercise”.
Um…not finding a safety lock. Unless they are calling the entire rotating handle the safety lock, there is no other mechanism on the dumbbell to somehow lock in the weight selected.
The bottom of the plates are notched to match and seat into the base.
Great.
The other companys dumbbell, cut a slice off the bottom of the plates, to prevent rolling; these have a rounded bottom and can roll; would be better to have that bottom slice there to prevent rolling when it’s not in the base.
Still, in all, if I could trade the other company dumbbell for another one of these, I would rather have two of these, so that should tell you something.
Having this type of device really can make the most of your workout time, wasting as little as possible.
These appear to be well made of quality materials and with proper care, stored indoors, should give a good service life.
I hope this review has enabled you to make an informed purchase decision.
I rarely give an overall 5 star rating.
This is a great set of dumbbells and they are very well designed. I have the smaller two-dumbbell set from this company; each one goes from 2.5 to 12.5 weights and I really like how easy they are to use. I thought I would get this heavier set for my husband. This is a single dumbbell that can be set to 5 different weights. It is a very compact unit so it really doesn’t take up much space + it is so easy and convenient to use. The weights rest in a fitted base and the bare dumbbell without any discs weighs five pounds. Additional weights are added on in 5 pound increments to a total of 25 pounds. The weights can only be selected when the dumbbells are rising in the base (there is a button to unlock them). Once lifted out of the base, the discs are locked safely in place. The current price of $95.99 (down from the original $139.99) is quite reasonable given the great design as well as the quality of the components and construction. Even if someone elects to purchase a second dumbbell in order to have a pair, this is still a more cost-effective option than purchasing several pairs of dumbbells separately (and then needing a rack or some way to store them).
These are great! I am recovering from a long illness + surgery and have been trying to regain my strength through a walking program, and now — lifting light weights. I ordered a pair of light dumbbells and have been looking into a rack so I can store them + additional pairs as I acquire them. I had no idea something as innovative as this existed. I stumbled upon it by accident when I was looking for my next set of dumbbells. I thought this set was a bit pricey, but much better than the alternative I was contemplating. I ordered them, but didn’t really expect them to be anywhere as high quality, convenient to use and easy to store as they turned out to be. They were ready to use right out of the box, and it took me about 1 minute to figure out how easy and safe they are to use. The dumbbells rest in a sturdy base, and I can increase the weight in 2.5 pound increments until I am at 12.5 pounds. Since there are two, this gives me 25 pounds total to work with, which is perfect for me and I’m sure it will be a long time before I get to that level. I am very impressed with the quality and the base takes up very little space. I ordered a heavier set of these for my husband. The current price is $129.99 (down from the regular price of $159.99) and these well designed and very well made dumbbells are definitely worth purchasing. I am so glad to have found them and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Nice compact weights, adjustable in increments of 5 pounds sturdy build. Only real complaints are that the handle is lacking grip and is just smooth plastic and that when not using the max weight the plates left in the holder are not secured and can easily be knocked over with a tap.
Quick and easy adjustment though, with only needing to rotate the handle to the wanted weight when the dumbell is in the holder. There is a notch that is pressed to unlock the rotating handle when placed in the holder. When not placed in the holder the handle and plates are locked.
I just don’t have much extra space and I’m always looking for ways to save a little space. I grabbed these weights, wasn’t really sure how they worked. They are fabulous. When seated in the cradle, you turn the handle and it adds or drops the appropriate amount of weight. The weights stay in their cradle when not in use but you can remove the full set to clean and keep dust out of the pockets. I find it really easy to turn. My 11 year old struggles turning it and my 9 year old usually isn’t able to. Mind you, they don’t need to be able to, but that gives you an idea of how tight they are. These are a great addition to my workout and I’m very happy with them!
I really like this idea of adjustable weight dumbells. I was looking for something in 5lb to 10lb range and saw these ones. This is really good feature that you can adjust the weights. These go from 2.5lb to 12.5lb in the increments of 2.5lbs. These are set of two so you don’t need to buy another one if you are looking for two. They come well package but heavy. The weight adjustment is easy, you just need to rotate the middle bar and set to the weight that you want, lift it up and it will only carry the weight that you set and the remaining weights will stay in the tray. I am good for sometime until I need more heavier weight. I really like them. The only thing is they are expensive.
Good:
-No assembly required.
-Easy to use.
-Great for light weight training.
Bad:
-The disc will occasionally stick.
I ordered the HAPBEAR Adjustable Dumbbell Weights Set of 2, 12.5 LBS. I like that this weight set makes it simple to follow a work out routine. The dial is easy to adjust and the weights are comfortable to grip. I like that it does not take up a lot of space and moving them to another room is not a chore. Overall, I find that I look forward to using the weights because I feel empowered.
My husband got it to use for his workouts. It easily can change from heavy weights for him to lighter weights for me. This was surprisingly easier to use than I thought it would be. It does look a little bit baffling at first.
When the weights are sitting in the cradle there is a button that’s pushed in on the bottom side that allows the weights to be changed. So when it’s in the cradle you just twist the handle to the desired weight do you want to lift. When you lift up the handle those weights you don’t need are left in the base.
Really ingenious idea. This plastic cradle base feels sturdy but due being use for holding weights I don’t know how long the plastic will hold up long-term. If the cradle breaks then it will be hard to change the weights. If you don’t have the base or it breaks you would need 2 people to change weights out. One person just to push in those buttons on each side and another person to twist the handle.
;: Very easy to use.
:
Here are the easy points out the way:
The grip is easy to maintain hold of but not abrasive to the hand.
The weight adjustment is easy, just rotate the handle, which doesn’t take much effort.
The weights are all within a half-pound of their number.
I ordered this to compliment what seems to be an identical weight set from a different company. The only conceivable difference was in how it was packaged, brand badging, and those little line indicators that are solely decorative. These were thoughtfully packaged and were less expensive, so I have to give my regards to HAPBEAR for being considerate to the end-user when they conceived the shipping method. Otherwise, this is just your standard adjustable dumbbell and it functions very well.
haven’t free weights gotten expensive? Believe it or not this adjustable dumbbell will save you money over buying one dumbbell for each of the weights. This dumbbell adjusts from 5 to 25 pounds by turning the handle. There are 5 weight discs for each side, so if you turn to the 10 pound weight, 3 discs remain in the rack. Use a smooth motion to remove and replace the dumbbell. This will save you quite a bit of space in your home gym. I don’t mind doing one arm at a time so this works for me. Very easy to adjust to the weight you want to use for each exercise you are doing. The weight discs don’t move much at all when lifting. Overall I like it and would recommend for home use.
Very convenient to adjust the weights. Good for home exercising!
