I have been using this Huskers Coir peat to grow indoor plants, and I have to say, it’s awesome! I love that it’s organic and free of peat, which is so important when you’re growing plants with roots.

I was able to get a bunch of new plants to grow super quickly in this product. The coco coir bricks are easy to break up into smaller pieces, and adding water increases the size and they make a nice fluffy growing medium that makes it easy for water to drain through and keeps the roots nice and moist. It also feels really natural and earthy, not like some other products I’ve used where it seems like there’s a lot of chemicals involved.

This is a good quality coir, however, you do need to use boiling water, anything less and you’re wasting your time, I know, I tried! Just pour it on slowly, and let it sit, wait about 15 minutes and you can go back and break it up with ease. Beautiful, rich, light and airy ready to use.

But this husk is easy to manovre easy to lift easy to hydrate and use.

You done have to use an entire cube you can save some for later in its compressed form.

    Tariffic.

What a great idea. I’ve not come across this sort of compost before, and it makes loads with just one litre of water, quickly and easily.

I struggle with bags of compost lugging them up the stairs to my balcony garden, so this not only was delivered but is easy to carry.

It looks good quality for my plants and l made up a block in an old washing up bowl, which l then mixed with a bag of compost l already had, and l can now repot my plants, plant cuttings and all sorts…..

This would be great for someone like my Mother-in in-law (92) who loves her garden and potting plants, who could easily carry a square of this outside and add water to a container and keep it in her greenhouse.
    Great product, price and idea.

Saves lugging heavy bags of compost around.

This coco coir comes in 5 blocks of 300g. Soak this in water, it only takes a few minutes to expand and be soft enough to break up. It does expand to about 4 times of its dried volume. Depends on what you are growing, you may need to mix in some liquid plant feed to enrich the peat for repotting, or just use it as is if it is for cuttings only.

The peat smells pretty strong like wet soil, I have used other peat that does not smell, so just beware of that if you don’t like the strong smell.

The price is a little expensive for 20L at 14.99, but the brick is pretty compressed and small instead of
one big block so you may just take the amount you need.

Good peat, just a bit expensive

I just used one square of this and it turned out so much. I’m growing seedlings and I mixed this with normal soil. Our seeds are growing well. You just have to be careful in how much you are going to use as one square is plenty once wet. In order to expand this just soak in water then you can easily separate this block.

Absolutely loved this! It made such a difference to my plants and I’ve tried quite a few others that are just quite costly but Huskers is great value for money. I had a few queries too which were answered quite immediately- great customer service too!

Used alone many composts can be a bit claggy – too dense, too moist especially for potting use. So gardeners often use substances like vermiculite and perlite to add aeration to this type of compost.

Huskers is a coco fibre product that comes in this pack in 5 blocks which provide 20 litres of growing medium when hydrated. Simply add water to a block to make it useable. This product can be used on its own without adding vermiculite or perlite to it. Or it could be used with regular compost to make it a little less claggy.

I like streptocarpus plants in particular and this 100% organic coconut coir is produced in Sri Lanka looks like it will be perfect for them as it’s well aerated, holding water well but allowing for good drainage. Convenient to use and to store, in my view this is worth the asking price.

This coir is good to use for pots and I mix it half and half with ordinary compost. It is also a good mulch to keep plants from drying out too quickly in hot weather. Easy to use and makes a lot of coir from a small box

So simple. take out of the box and throw a block into a bucket and add hot water.
wait about 20 mins and mix it up to ensure it all got wet.

you now have a bucket of substrate.
I use this for my reptiles.

This comes in branded cardboard box and inside are 5 slim blocks of coco coir, although this is mainly listed for use with plants I use in substrate mix for reptiles and tarantulas.I mix this with organic topsoil, moss and little play sand.Swells up a lot and each block makes good amount.Good value for amount and works out cheaper than reptile coco coir.I chose to microwave block before add water just to ensure no live eggs in coir but I’m extra cautious since snakes caught mites

A fair amount of compost for me to pot 12 small herbs compartments for under a growing light.
I even have some left to spare.
Simple to use, just add water and it’s good to go.
It’s seems to be of a good quality so hopefully my plants will thrive.
