I got this for my son for Christmas. It’s a brilliant light sabre with a huge choice of colours and sounds. Plus the option to mute! He was incredibly upset however when after just a couple of months, it stopped charging. I contacted customer services who asked me to try a few things to fix the problem, but when this didn’t work, they offered to send me a new item. It’s this level of customer service that makes me trust a seller and the usual high quality of the item!
Good value lightsaber, with both sound and colour change options. Reasonably light but durable
I bought this saber around 6 months ago and it worked beautifully. Recently however, it stopped charging and wouldn’t turn on at all. I contacted the company and they were nice enough to send me a brand new product. No hassle, no fuss. Just instant help. So happy with this!
I bought this for my sons birthday in august. Unfortunately it’s stopped charging. So I contacted the company and they ran through some basics to see if I could fix it but I couldn’t so they sent my son a new one.
They were quick at emailing and the replacement came the next day.
The lightsaber it’s self is really good. We bought a couple cheaper ones from another online sales platform and they were crap and broke pretty much instantly. This sabre makes sounds on contact (so if your hitting someone lol) there’s different colours aswell and it saves what coloured you used last so when you turn it on again it’s ok the same colour. You can even mute it lol (love that feature)
I spent a lot of time trying to find a good budget lightsaber and this was the one I settled on. From what I know, base lit lightsabers can go from around 80-200 so this was a good middle-ground for me.
As for the quality, excellent. Sturdy metal hilt, with easy access to the charging port. The L.E.D’s are extremely bright and the sound quality is good.
There was one slight snag, the instructions weren’t clear at all and it took me some time to get used to them, however once I did get used to them, they were simple and easy to remember.
This looks absolutely stunning and is a complete joy to hold. Cannot fault this at all. It looks to be screen accurate and my friend who is a starwars fanatic cannot stop playing with it!!!
After returning my first saber due to flash on clash not working when I got my refund I risked it and bought another. This time the flash on clash does work slightly better(still a bit unresponsive for my liking). The seller was nice in their reply and explained they are continually trying to improve the flash on clash sensitivity as they get a lot of feedback on it and reduced the sensativity due to this.
Overall a very good budget force FX saber.
Nice and bright, nice and loud!
However, design floor, the tip does look like a erm, helmet, a bell end if you will, and once you see it you can’t unsee it. As a straight male I feel uncomfortable playing with it now
Didn’t know what to expect but always wanted a light saber.
Way too many to choose from and in the end I brought this one.
Opened up the box and the first thing I noticed was how heavy the main part of it was.
Felt well-built and tough too.
Put the sword part in which was only 2 screws and away I went.
Traveling around the galaxy looking for Jedi to hunt, fight and Kill!
Luckily, Obi Wan Kanobi allowed a film crew to follow him around so he was easy to hunt down!
Met Darth the other day too, yeah, he scares me too.
Sorry, losing sight of why I’m here, yes, love all the sounds and the colours are really bright too.
Can light the whole room up bright.
Bought this lightsaber for my sons birthday. Now the price seemed quite steep but its what he wanted. It does feel quite solid and has a bit of heft.
The colours are vibrant and has a few different.
The issues mainly stem from the lack of appropriate instructions. The manual that came with mine wasn’t for the one that was sent. The instructions weren’t clear anyway. This makes it difficult to navigate the different feature.
Also the handle need to be unscrewed exposing the battery to be charged which seems unusual.
Set them up and played around with the sound fonts and rgb settings straight away. Through trial and testing sound fonts that come from character quotes appear to be the character names and not the speaker for example “gEnEral KenObi”.
The plastic blades do mark if you hit anything other than the lightsabers. They handle well taking into account the heaviness.
A step up from Hasbro’s telescopic toy lightsabers 🙂
great lightsaber amazing for beginner collectors and great for dueling but there no light effects and lied about the smooth swing but still good
My son has just bought this one on my account he is very pleased with i
My son loves the lightsaber. Excellent value for money and very durable. So easy to use . High quality and easy to charge . My son has had hours and hours of fun .
My lightsaber is robust and useful for dueling and cosplay, only small issue I could see is the actual blade being a little warped after long term wear and tear!
Great fun, grandson loves it but putting together a nightmare as instruction booklet doesn’t tell you how to do this . Used grommets, 2 in each hole and tightened using key provided but…left with 2 screws! God knows where they go. If anyone knows correct way, please let me know. Thanks.
When I got the Saber I was so excited and happy to show it to my friends and Co-workers, but when I opened it the bottom of the saber was broken into little pieces at the bottom of the box it cam in as you can see, and now I don’t know what to do cause there isn’t a video on how to fix this anywhere but apart from that it’s a good product very well made Justin didn’t work
Gift for 14 year old who is well pleased. Purchased when there was a Sale on the item so not sure I would have paid full price for it. Good sound effects and changing colours and lasted with 3 teens “fighting” out a scene from Star Wars.
I was dubious about buying this, but it is actually nicely thought out, the colour is good, very bright, the sound effects can be turned off, but you can select from various effects and surprisingly you can adjust the volume.
The instructions for putting it together are however useless, I worked out that you put the blade in, put two grub screws in to hold it, you need them tight but not overly, just enough to stop it moving, once the grub screws are in put another two in on top, this will stop the first ones coming out.
I then checked any other screws and find another one was loose.
It came semi charged, lasted about 10 minutes, so if it’s a gift I would suggest charging it for a few hours.
Anyway I would recommend this, would be nice hung on the wall to give some light to a room.
This lightsaber is perfect for anyone who wants to have lightsaber duels with friends. The blade screws in easily and is thick and sturdy, so won’t break easily.
The handle is nicely made, and doesn’t have any sharp bits. The charging port can be a little annoying but if you turn the handle slightly in your hand it’s fine.
You can change the volume, sound effects, and colours, and it has flash on crash which is all cool. The only thing it doesn’t have is a turn on/turn off animation, instead it fades in and fades out (which doesn’t bother me). I assume this is because in order to make the blade sturdier there are no electronics in the blade itself, but instead a reflective material that allows the blade to light up.
All in all, this is an incredibly good buy, especially for the price. You’ll struggle to find one this good for this cheap anywhere else.
It’s a light sabre. What a time to be alive. When I watched Star Wars in the seventies, I wondered if one day I would hold one of these in my hand and now I can. The weight and sounds make this feel utterly authentic as well. I worry about how rugged the tube might prove in the long term.
Ok unboxing I thought the hilt had a good weight and once attached the blade found it a good well balanced sabre, great sounds and effects and the multi coloured lights are very bright and make the sabre very authentic. The only downside is the instructions that are pretty useless on the functions of it, but after half hour or so you will soon get the swing of things! (NO PUN INTENDED) having said that I got a 15% voucher off the full price so I was even happier. To be honest I would have been more than happy paying the full price! I would not like to say if you could use this for duelling but I don’t see why not as long as your not to rough! Would i buy another one? Yes I would!
This lightsabre came in a colourful retail package and would make an epic gift for any star wars fan.
It comes in two pieces, the handle is separate from the blade so you can hang the handle from your outfit if just walking round and posing, then at an appropriate moment you have to hide away (Like Superman to prepare for your audience) while you put the two parts together and tighten a tiny grub screw to hold it all firmly.
Then you can make your entrance and switch on your lightsabre!
It has its own sound effects which are pretty good and true to the films when you are waving it about, if you strike anything it is supposed to make a strike sound but it is a bit hit and miss (Pun intended) so you can press the button to make the handle make the appropriate sound.
The sabre can be set to anyone of several different colours, though in truth the best are the primary colours, the pastel shades just dont look right.
This item really is a dedicated fans fun item, I would not recommend it to be given to any child.
It wouldn’t last 5 minutes, a few decent whacks and it would be wrecked, which considering the cost of it, would hurt a lot. No matter how good your kids are they would simply ruin it in no time!
For my daughter in her 20’s though it makes a colourful change from her dragon hilted (albeit blunt) samurai sword (I know, bizarre or what!) Only you can decide if this is really worth the money! HTH
Once set up and charged this is an impressive piece of kit. The SFX and robustness of the model make is excellent for showcasing light sabre skills and impressing anyone who can watch. I would flag that the instructions need a lot of interpretation and we had some trouble getting it out of sleep mode and additionally locating which were the correct screws to fasten the sabre to the base. Would slightly mark it down on those points but once set up it’s brillia
This is definitely a perfect gift for those who are obsessed with Star Wars!
It’s not very heavy so can be held with one hand and swung around – would be fine for kids to handle too.
When you swing this, it has different sound effects – 10 in total.
Good range of colours so you can act like your favourite character – 12 colours in total
Takes a few hours to charge and you get about 2-3 hours of usage out of it.
Price has been dropping steadily so I think this is good value. It was about 90 around Christmas but it is currently priced at 65.99 at the time of this review.
Makes for a great gift – cool sound effects and good range of colours.
Cons:
1. Instruction is not too clear so took me a while to figure out how it works
2. A bit pricy
Pros:
1. Great quality, didn’t see better quality sabre on the market!
2. It actually looks and works as on Amazon attached video!
I think if you are a Star Wars fan or you want to find a gift for a Star Wars fan, this is really good option! If I understand correctly this is not official light sabre BUT as I said the quality is superb! So you won’t get disappointed 🙂 just be patient with assembling it!
This really is a very good replica. Comes well packaged and so therefore makes an ideal gift for a fan.
Easy to.out together and even easier to charge. Sounds and lights are superb and really realistic .Great value for sure and we are chuffed to bits with this
Got this for my son and he love it. Came in a big box nicely packed. Blade and handle are detachable and easy to assemble. It has 2000mAh rechargeable battery which takes about 3 to 4 hours for fully charged. It’s recommended by the manufacturer that you only use 5V 1A power supply. There are about 10 different sounds and 12 different colours. Every swing gives a different sound and colour.
Both handle and blade are very well made and when you hold it gives you a high quality product feel. Overall a great product to go with fancy dress and even just to play with. At the time of review this product was available for 85.99 plus extra 15% discount voucher. 3 colour to choose from for handle.
Wow what a price 76.64 for this saber light.
I take it this is for the Star Wars fans ..
This arrives is a long box and is well packed
The handle is nice and solid.the actual tube is of strong plastic but I would imagine very easy to break
This is rechargeable .and the sounds are very real..
Just one button to switch on and swing saber around to make the different noises takes a bit of getting used to how this worksbut once you have the hang of it I would imaging this being great.
There are two screw holes to keep the light into the unit
This is a fantastic product for the Star Wars fans.but very pricey for what it is
10 different sounds and 12 different lights..
Ever since I was a kid (as a child of the 80s) I have wanted a lightsaber, I am not alone in that. This product comes as close as is possible to realising that dream. It’s near awesome.
The principle of this is really simple and not massively changed from the ones that floated about when I was a kid – a light shining up a tube. It is a whole lot more robust however, with the tube held in position via small screws and a solid feeling metal handle which is just the right size to fit in my hand comfortably. to switch it on, you hold the button down for 4 seconds and then the light and sounds kick off. You can thereafter cycle through the different lights to choose which colour sabre you want.
I haven’t robustly tested it in one on one combat yet so I can’t attest to it’s longevity (that’s a post christmas activity), but I do suspect it will hold up to a few knocks as it does feel pretty durable.
Overall, this is an ideal present for any star wars fan or just as a purchase to play about with yourself.
My boy just gone crazy about this sward!
It is just something wow! So sturdy, high quality and easy to assemble.
10 sound fonts and mute mode, real blaster sound, super sensitive, louder and bright.
Takes around 2-4 hours for fully charged.
12 color options to choose from and switch on the go. Parties, Halloweens, Christmas cosplay.
Recommend!
A great product, which i will be using to go with my Darth fancy dress costume on New Years Eve. It’s definitely not for kids – imagine the havoc!
Know any Star Wars fanatics? They may well love this. I can’t compare with other light sabers, but this seems a good one, to me.
Some assembly is required but it isn’t difficult, despite the hopeless instructions (as you may expect, since it’s from China). Charge it with a phone charger and the supplied USB cable for about three hours until the pulsing blue LED goes out.
That’s all I’ve done, so far, until my grandson gets back from abroad. Well, almost. I couldn’t resist testing it, of course. You can read about the features and specs in the description. Suffice to say it seems to work pretty much as claimed, with excellent light and sound effects.
More than that, I can’t say, until grandson gives it a thorough workout. At 89.99 less 20% voucher (71.19) it’s competitively priced but not cheap.
Keep in mind that it’s made in China though. You may prefer not to support the Chinese economy, given all the wrongs China is perpetrating in the world. And it really annoys me when Chinese sellers can’t be bothered translating descriptions to UK English for the Amazon UK website.
Obviously, this is a product aimed at a very specific target group. If you are in it, you know. This is exactly what you want, shy of an actual lightsabre (we can only dream of that wonderful day….). The handle is solid and robust, the blade lights up evenly and you can choose pretty much any colour you could hope for. It has an impressive bank of motion activated sound effects that will tickle you right in the depths of your childish soul. To an outsider this may seem an expensive toy. To those in the know, it is an absolute steal.
As a final word, I will add that this is not a licensed Star Wars item. The box it comes in is disappointingly generic and had me worried when I opened. That all disappeared as soon as it lit up……
When you receive the LightSaber it does have to be assembled with the provided grub screws and alan key, because the handle and blade are separated. The assembly is quick and easy as you only have to secure the blade into the handle, Once you have removed the rubber cap from the blade then insert it into the handle and use 2 of the grub screws with the Allen key to tighten and secure the blade. There is 2 other grub screws which I am guessing are spares, on examining the LightSaber I couldn’t see anywhere else they would fit. The instructions that you receive with the LightSaber are not translated very well and have no assembly instructions. The lightsaber comes with a USB charging cable that measures approximately 1 m in length. When charging the lightsaber the action button that controls different modes and features of the LightSaber will pulsate blue until it is fully charged which will then stop pulsating and go out, in my particular case it took three hours 50 minutes. The modes and features are activated and changed by pressing and holding the action button for 1 to 9 seconds. After using the light saver for about 20 minutes trying to work out the different sequences to select the different modes and features it became easy. There is many different Star Wars characters from Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hans Solo and so on to choose from and each character has different LightSaber sound effects. I will list the seconds to change volume, modes and colours so hopefully it will cut your learning experience.* Power on LightSaber handle 5 seconds action button turns blue, once handle is powered on the following modes can be selected.* change volume 2 seconds* change character 3 seconds* lightSaber illuminates with SoundEffect Press once* when blade is illuminated to change colour 2 seconds and to keep cycling through all colours 3 seconds* to power down LightSaber 5 seconds* to power off handle completely 9 seconds. There is other features while the blade and sound effects are on by Pressing the button once. I may have missed a feature or mode whilst giving you a summary, So enjoy learning and may the force be with you. Overall good sound effects, Nicely balanced LightSaber with a good range of RGB colouring. I hope you found my video and review helpful.
A good lightsaber that feels quite substantial in your hand – has some weight to it but isn’t too heavy. It has an embedded rechargeable battery that can be charged using the supplied custom USB cable – it can’t use a standard USB-C or Micro USB cable. It comes with the blade unattached and with no assembly instructions – however there is a supply of both screws and hex bolts together with a hex key. A couple of hex bolts secure the blade. The hilt of the saber is aluminium alloy and the blade polycarbonate. The blade feels quite sturdy but I don’t really want to see just how strong it is against a table etc!
For operation there is just one button on the hilt. The operation isn’t obvious – there is an instruction sheet that lists the modes – the blade colour can be changed by pressing the button for 2 seconds for example then pressing for each colour. The saber is turned off by pressing for four seconds, or totally off by pressing for ten seconds. The button does flicker every second to help count.
So, the blade has 12 different colours to choose from, 10 different StarWars clips that can be played in turn, two different volumes and mute for the effects, lock up mode which flashes white until the button is pressed again as well as a regular blaster sound if the button is pressed once when on. In regular mode the blaster makes realistic sounds as it is waved, and flashes white and plays a sound if hits another surface.
All in all, a great saber that feels good in the hand and has many different modes and features. I would expect it to last if looked after. A substantial gift or something for the armoury of a star wars fan.
Essentially this is a fancy led torch with a speaker and a inertia measuring tool built in. Saying that, this is a really fun toy for grown up fans of star wars.
The handle is fully metal with a button in it to switch it on and change the modes. It then connects to a plastic tube (the blade) by a couple of hex screws that grip it. Fairly simple to assemble, although you do get a few spare screws.
The handle is really solid, and the plastic tube seems reasonably sturdy. I’ve bonked it off the wall a few times with no obvious damage so far.
The button controls everything, so this can be a bit of a pain. Press for 4 secs to switch on, press for 3 secs to scroll through the colours, press for 2 seconds to change the sounds, quickly press for the blaster deflection sound. It can be difficult to get the right time period, but saying that I am finding it a lot of fun.
The lightsabre comes in a sturdy, long box, looking more like a neon tube outer, so it’s a good surprise. There is the blade, the plastic handle, a linking collar, a couple of retaining, screw-fixed rings, a little bag of grub screws, an Allen key and a rather vague instruction leaflet.
Once assembled the sabre looks impressive. The control buttons are on the haft and the various sounds and colours can be changed at will. The sabre is well constructed although mine has a sharp edge on the lower section of the hand grip.
The lithium batteries needed are supplied with the sabre.
The sabre is a decent weight and a good balance. I found I needed a two-handed grip which is a disadvantage for me because a two-handed swordsman carries no shield. From first picking it up, it feels like a perfect whack-bong stick. It’s very tempting to whack-bong with it. A child might easily cause considerable mayhem, lacking the physical and mental control to stop the swing short of the target.
On short, the sabre is great fun and it’s very easy to slip into battle mode and to lay aside safety rules. I love it.
After initial assembly, for which instructions are not provided, but it’s fairly obvious which two of the several screws are used to fix the light stick into the handle with the provided hex key, you can charge the lightsaber with the custom USB charge lead provided.
After charging, you need to power-up the lightsaber from cold by pressing the button for about 4 seconds, after which the lightsaber is powered up into standby mode with a couple of metallic clinking noises. A quick press of the button when in standby mode, will then power up the lightsaber with the associated lightsaber power-up sound and the menacing grumbling hum of a powered lightsaber coming from the speaker mounted in the base of the handle.
The lightsaber has several modes which are accessed by pressing and holding the button for various durations, with a long press and hold putting the lightsaber back into standby mode, accompanied by the familiar power-down sound.
Movement of the lightsaber is generally well detected and responded to with the familiar “Vvvvooom!” hum of the lightsaber moving through air. Collision detection is less well detected in my example, though a momentary press of the button will cause a “Hit” response to be initiated, and such a hit causes the lightsaber to flash white and make the familiar noise of a lightsaber hitting something. I found a “hit” was sometimes detected during a contactless “swish” of the lightsaber, and at other times it failed to detect a hit.
The lightsaber can be put into a mode where there is a constant hit flash and noise, as though the lightsaber is in contact with something and is working hard. (Pushing against another lightsaber, or perhaps burning through a door.)
A mode is available where the colour of the lightsaber can be changed by pressing button and cycling through the colours, but some of them are a bit insipid.
After being in standby mode for a minute or two, the lightsaber powers down completely with a message saying “The Resistance is dead, the war is over!”.
Anyone who gets this lightsaber as a present is going to be very pleased and impressed with it when they first play with it. But further play will likely expose the collision detection issues, which drag you straight out of battling the evil forces of the Empire and wondering what’s wrong with your lightsaber.
Part of me really likes this lightsaber, but the poor collision detection bothers me, because I feel it is unacceptable at this price point and spoils the experience. My son is more forgiving on this issue than I am, and points out you only have to press the button for a hit to be indicated, and I suppose it is pretty demanding of me to demand “realism” from a toy lightsaber. And you have to admit, he looks pretty cool with it. (See pic).
So a 4* rating it is. If you want something that looks, sounds and feels impressive, this lightsaber will please you, if you can accept the slightly undependable collision detection.
I have purchased a few similar “Light Sabres” for my sons over the years..But this is far and away the best yet!
My son will be absolutely delighted with this sabre!..The handle looks almost exactly like the real thing and the sound and light effects are simply brilliant!
My wife really giggled when I switched it on and did my best Darth Vader impersonation…(Well I thought it was great!)
I really love this and I shall be buying another for myself after Christmas when cash isnt so tight!
For all you Star Wars fans out there, you need this at home.
With a rechargeable battery and a selection of interchangeable colours, this light sabre comes with three authentic sounding Star Wars sound effects.
It looks great at your Cos Play events, Comic Cons or just impressing your friends with the size ( and actually the shape…) of your sabre.
The handle comes in 3 different colours ( I went for Darth Black).
This is quite a bespoke item. It is not cheap but for the true fan and collector it is worth every penny.
I really like this lightsaber. The quality is great and it has a nice weight to it. You can even alternate between colours to best suit your journey with the force. Sound effects are great too. My only criticism, and it’s not major, is the instructions. The booklet is practically a bit of card. As the blade and handle come separated inside the box, I struggled to understand at first, how I was supposed to secure the blade to the handle. You need to fix two small bolts inside the handle. No tool is provided, so you will need an allan key. Other than that it is well worth the money.
Excellent item, with great sound and colour. The only slight problem with it is the top of the sabre looks like a…..helmet, I’d you know what I mean. Once you see it, you can’t not see it. But other than that, it’s grea
