Brilliant easy fast pitch free standing spacious lightweight wild camping tent don’t think there’s better for the money
I can’t yet give a full review, however I was impressed to find it did not leak during heavy rain, with 30 mm falling in 30 minutes, and a further 20+ mm falling that same day. So, so far, it lives up to its stated waterproofing.
It’s quite roomy for one person with good headroom, and the red and white colour scheme looks really nice. The inclusion of a floor mat is another plus. Setup is easy.
It remains to be seen how well it holds up in strong wind. Given it is not particularly low-profile I have some doubts about its performance in that area, but we will see.
Used the Cloud2 Up on a weekend in the Cairngorms. It was great. So easy to put up and take down.
Best bit was the weight.
May have been better with bigger vestibule but maybe I had to much gear.
Great value.
I like the tent. They have a very good customer service. The tent had a issue at first but it all worked out. Thanks for the service.
I bought this tent before going on a 9 month trip hiking around South America. This tent went through everything I could throw at it, loved how light it is and how easy it is to put up and take down.
From the jungles to the mountains, it did the job.
This is my first small tent, since I was a kid and it’s an entirely different type of tent than back in the old days.
It’s so easy to pitch. The poles and clips fit perfectly, the zips don’t snag, it doesn’t let the rain in (fully tested during a British “summer”).
I like the fact that you get a ground sheet thrown in free. Well done NatureHike.
I have the slightly heavier orange version, but ultralight gear is not my priority.
It’s great. I recommend it!
Love this tent. It is great, lightweight and affordable. I have also found naturehike to be very helpful with good communication. I had a minor issue which was quickly resolved – great company, reliable and overall very happy. Thank you naturehike!
I was “humming and hahing” for ages, looking at Vango Banshee and suchlike but I bought this one on the recommendation of my son who does a lot of wild camping. It pitches really quickly and is so light, giving you real freedom. Decent space inside. Recommended.
Use this for bikepacking and have found it great. So easy to set up and packs down easy. Haven’t tested it in any extreme conditions but so far it’s been great.
Did a real good gob despite all the wind & rain. Light & small at a relatively decent price. I hope it will last well.
Very nice tent, easy to use, small lightweight compact, big advantage of having its footprint.
Con: sometimes it’s a little bit hot in the summer 85 degrees +
This review is for the Ultra light version- the weight came in at 1.17kg and 1.4kg with the footprint – slightly heavier than advertised BUT still very light.
In this configuring the tent is only a 3 season – as the inner is mesh and there is plenty of ventilation – but again it is light!!!
The sleeping area is a generous 2 man and can take two wide sleeping mats with no issues .
The pole system is a double Y but also a single pole so there is no way you can get it wrong.
The pegs are and X shape, not they are overly long but again this is a three season tent so they are a great match for the tent – there was also the exact number for all pegging points.
When it come to pitching – the footprint, inner and fly all have alloy anchors that attach to the poles – very very neat – it means it can used in multiple ways
1. footprint inner and fly
2. Inner only
3. Outer only ie as a tarp
4 Outer with footprint
5. Inner with foot print
the down side is that it is a inner first pitch – not so good in bad weather – but in my honest opinion – this is the only fault with this tent so pitching in bad weather would compromise the inner.
The tent coms with the guy ropes unattached – bit that takes 10 minutes to sort out – I can’t complain
The Guy ropes have the same locking systems as the major brands, although the the material is not as good.
Is it as good as my Terra Nova Laster Photon 2 – No
Is it good enough for 90% of UK conditions – Yes
I will use this tent for backpacking / bike packing with my son when the weather is not bad.
In bad conditions the Terra nova will come out – but is costs 3x as much!
So the dislikes:
The zippers could be way better. They do not open or close smoothly, making one-handed opening and closing impossible. They feel like they will be the first things to break.
I’m avg. size adult male, and I would not like to squeeze another human in there. For one person with gear it’s a fine size.
Like:
For the price, it’s a solid 1 person tent.
It’s easy to set up, small footprint.
Tentpegs are a good quality.
Mesh is fine and only very small insects will get in (tiny ticks (about 1mm) did for me, but the forest was also crawling with them)
Stayed dry in pouring rain.
Fits back in the bag with ease, so it is compact enough to hall around.
Took this backpacking and was very happy with the weight and easy set up. My only complaint is that the door zipper is not great quality, catches alot and is hard to operate quickly to keep the bugs out.
Not a drop inside after the rainy night, totally recommended
Rivaluter in seguito
Used on the West Highland Way. Did a real good gob despite all the wind & rain. Not as luxurious as my MSR Elixr but light & small at a relatively decent price. I hope it will last well.
Easy to put up solo, easy to put down solo.
Great size and weight to carry.
I’m 6’3 and sleeping on my own found it very comfortable with plenty of room. You could fit two people in, but your packs would either have to go in the porch – probably not quite enough room – or i between you when sleeping.
Sleeping with it in the Peaks for two nights, it felt sturdy and strong in the wind. It didn’t rain but the seals look well made. I would trust it in far worse conditions.
If you’re using it frequently I can see how it might not last forever, but that’s the same for an lightweight tent.
For 160-odd, you can’t go wrong.
excellent tent for the money, have used this a few times now throughout this year.
It is absolutely not a 4 season tent (at least not in Scotland) but is 100% waterproof and can cope with some decent gusts
My only issue with this tent was the crappy tags on the zips, they would be hard to grip with cold hands so i swapped them out with some cheap paracord loops
Excellent tent which I’ve only used once to be honest but it’s light, compact and easy/quick to set up which is ideal for backpacking. The seams are all taped, it did rain lightly during the night with no problems but I haven’t used it during heavy rain.
I bought the 2 person version (pictured), more than enough room for me and the dog. Price and past reviews were what drew me towards it. Great purchase
good enough and easy to pitch, also quite roomy
but definitely not 4 seasons
Great little tent. Light, quick to put up and waterproof AF. Be aware that there are BIG gaps between the outer and the ground, so this is a drafty one and isn’t a warm sleep. Inner is also largely netting, so not much added warmth. Outer doesn’t sit very flush on the frame, but if it looks like it was made in China in a hurry, it probably was, which is why it’s this cheap. I’m pretty happy with it for a 2 season tent, but it’s not the best thing I’ve ever bought.
I’ve used it a couple times now and it seems to hold up and is a good value.
1st off, this is deffo not a 4 season tent. It’s a max 3 season.
Well made though, and goes up very quickly – and a doddle to pack up again. The groundsheet is a nice addition and deffo required on rougher ground as the inner base is very thin.
On cold nights you really notice the wind or colder air coming in from the daft full mesh front door, which is bloody annoying. If like me you’ve bought the version without the side skirts you’ll also notice the wind whipping up between the two sheets and through the huge upper mesh. Pack a warm sleeping bag!
It is however, super light and goes up very quickly. The new parts like the link lines between the fly and inner are great to keep the two properly spaced, and the lower lines on a clever cleat work brilliantly to get tension really quickly.
Worth a punt if you’re looking for a good alternative to the more expensive alternatives.
Great tent, pretty small packed and easy to set up. I changed the carry bag to a smaller drybag and it’s even smaller compressed, i carry the poles separately on the side of my rucksack, see picture. My only complaint is the zips, they’re not great quality, every time i pull on them it feels like they’ll just about to break.
Also I’m 193cm tall and i can’t even imagine using this as a 2 person tent. For 2 shorter, skinnier people it’s fine, but for tall, bulkier people look at this tent as a one person tent.
I have now used this several times on bike packing trips. The size and weight are brilliant. I can’t imagine a better tent, especially at this price. It is erected in minutes and is sturdy. Other than being made in China (like most everything else) I can’t fault it at all. Brilliant.
This is a superbly light and compact tent but the only thing I’d say is that it is not really suitable for 2 large adults especially if you want to put your backpack inside with you. As a 1-man tent though, awesome.
For the price and easy of use it is a brilliant piece of ki
Brilliant tent light weight. Easy to set up definitely use has a one man so you can get your rucksack and everything in with you . Good tent for the price
There is only one problem in my opinion with this camping tent, the inner side walls do not have elastics to stretch them. So the side walls easily touch your body all the time inside the tent, as this is pyramid-shaped and not oval. So I put Velcro’s on the outside of the inner wall, so that this Velcro is attached to the outer wall (The rain protection canvas) so with that I managed to stretch the inner walls making them oval, something that should come from the factory in the equipment . Apart from that detail, the tent is very good. (The Photo on cliffs, I took off the cover of the tents)
Only 1500 gr without additional footprint, excellent quality, easy and quick to put up.
I used this tent for a solo wild camping trip in Dartmoor and was not disappointed. It was raining hard while I was setting up camp so I obviously pitched the outer first and managed to keeps my valuables dry. It’s just a pity that the dark olive colour wasn’t in stock when I bought this one otherwise I’d have gone for that.
It’s a great tent that’s quick to set up and to take down. The aluminium poles are very high quality and snap together silky smooth. The best thing is that you pitch set up either the outer or the inner first and everything fits together well. The pegs very lightweight but sturdy. Great value overall. I had no problems with anything.
I recently completed a two month hike with this rent and loved it. Very easy to put up when you’re knackered, and easy to roll up in the morning. Waterproof and handled decent winds easily. Unfortunately a fractured tent pole occurred towards the end, but naturehike immediately sent out a replacement. Recommended.
Fantastic tent so happy with it! And it’s great if it’s raining cos you can set it up outer fly first!
Great for Northwest weathe
Wow!! Soo easy to set up…quality items…quality pegs and poles…wouldn’t want two people in there…great size for one though.
Costruzione: pali resistenti, buon rivestimento e copertura.
A great tent which was recently used on a wild camp on Dartmoor. It’s ideal for 1 person and all your kit with plenty of headroom (I’m 5’11) . Very easy to put up and pack away.
Husband seems pleased with this
Easy to put up and lightweigh
I haven’t tested the product out in the field yet but I did want to note nature hikes outstanding customer service. There’s was a small hole in the outer layer and nstueehike very quickly sent me out a new tent with great communication.
I’ve read great reviews of the tent so am sure it will be a good product. Plenty of space to sit up in the tent which is nice.
Ordered August 21. The product arrived with a small hole in the inside of the tent. Within 4 days, I was sent a new section of that part of the tent. Customer service is phenomenal! Would recommend!
A great little tent, never had a problem with it, and I’ve been out in some serious weather. I bought this to add to the three man Cloud up I already have. See Summit or nothing channel on you tube to see the tent in action!
Its very light inside, as in illumination not weight, although it is less than 2.0kg. Easy to erect however ensure guy lines are straight to prevent inner and flysheet touching.
A very good tent with the skirt excluding a majority of the draughts. Price is competitive.
For this price this is an excellent tent. The tent is really well made and at this price range you will not get anything better when you consider the weight/price ratio. This is pretty much the only tent which is below 2kg and will offer some sort of porch for cooking and enough head space for sitting at this price range (I am pretty tall – 186 cm – 6’1”).
Of course, the porch and the tent itself is not too big but with a bit of an effort even two adults can sleep in, we even managed to fit all our gear into the porch (it’s just a bit of a hassle when you need to go out to pee at night). But you can always just use a big dry bag and leave your rucksack outside of your tent entirely – never had to do it myself though.
As for the quality it is pretty well made and I trust it. I wouldn’t take it to the strongest winds or snow but for spring/summer times it’s perfect – I slept at some pretty high elevations in Cairngorms and all around Western and Northern Scotland in early Spring. You just have to be smart on where to pitch the tent, always look for some shelter or cover from one side as side wind wouldn’t do any good for this tent – it’s kind of a sail. When it’s windy, the tent can be really loud as the outer tends to flap a bit, but the tent can take some heavy beating when pitched properly.
The only thing I don’t like is that the bottom at the sides is quite high up so the tent is pretty drafty (not ideal for early spring camping at high elevations – the tent can get pretty cold). However, an easy fix is getting two additional pegs and pegging the sides directly to the ground (not using the two pegs which are for the side guylines).
This is a perfect tent for those who are new-ish to outdoors but are serious about hillwalking and are looking for a good gear at reasonable price. Honestly, the next level of upgrading this tent is spending at least 300+ pounds on some more ‘professional’ tents.
Great for ‘serious beginners’.
@Naturehike you can contact me for further cooperation 😉
What a great piece of kit! quick to erect and take down, quality material, neat groundsheet and that extra bit of height inside make it the goto choice for affordable hiking / biking overnights.
I love my new tent, tried it only once so far for 2 nights. It’s super easy to set up and pack. When packed it fits easily into my hiking backpack and is light enough. It doesn’t keep the warmth in much and the nights were chilly but I kind of expected it based on the design. It also does let the wind in quite a lot even when the top layer is set up tight so that’s the only minus as it can get noisy and let the cold in even more on a windy night (which is what I had as I was camping near the sea shore).
The tent is very good value for money.
I have not tested in testing weather yet!!!
I do find you get condensation inside when it is cold.
Great tent I used wild camping on the two moors way, light enough, easy to put up and loads of room. I’m six foot exactly and had a four inch high pad and had just enough room head to toe.
pretty decent tent. I was looking for something lightweight, packable and easy to build within a reasonable price.. this met all what i needed.. and it looks great. fully waterproof, my stuff survived heavy rain.. so happy camping!
Actually a very good tent.
Freestanding, lightweight, and something g not mentioned, can pitch fly sheet first. Takes about 5-10 minutes to pitch, and 10-15 minutes to pull down.
Decent in 15 to 20mph even though I pitch perpendicular to the wind whi h is not ideal but held up nicely.
Very good quality, great design, very simple to erect, pretty light weight and plenty of room for one person and a rucksack. Bit of a squeeze for two though. The outer can also be fitted first which is pretty easy then the inner part if need be. Very Happy with this tent for 115.00
I have used this tent on several occasions now and it’s simple to set up and take down.
I live in Yorkshire and wind and rain are a constant, but this tent held up to a really bad downpour the night before doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
I have several tents, some high end ones, but this is my go too tent for any three season camping at the moment.
I bought this tent because I was told it was free of fluorocarbons and flame retardants, and it also seemed to have some technically to it as well. The first thing I assessed was whether it has a smell (“off-gassing), and I never noticed one during the 4 nights I slept in it, even in humidity/dew conditions. I own a couple tents from a high-tier company that unfortunately do have a irritating and uncomfortable smell to them especially in humid or wet conditions.
Setup was very easy. The one thing that I looked down upon is that the poles don’t feel as durable as the other high-tier $300+ retail price tents that I have, but I can live with that. I figure I could always buy an extra sat of poles as a backup just in case. You really should baby this tent (you really should with all tents, but especially this one) with every set up and don’t rush it otherwise I’m fearful a poles might get messed up. The next thing that I thought could be better was the connector pieces to the poles. Again I feared that if I wasn’t very careful every time putting them on that they might break. But this is fine considering the price. The stakes also feel less durable than my high end tent. The fabric of both the tent and the snow skirt I was impressed by, although the floor of my high-tier tents might be a little tougher, but I did set this up one night without the footprint and there was no issue. Also it’s relatively easy to get all the items back into the bag unlike other tents that I have.
It’s great to use for 1 person, very spacious I felt very comfortable inside. It’s actually my preferred tent now.
I have not tested it under extreme weather conditions yet or even rain, so I might update this in the future.
Great tent. Used once to date on a stormy night with heavy rainfall and was completely waterproof. No ground water penetration either.
Lightweight and roomy, great little tent for wild camping when you want a little more shelter than a tarp.
I wasn’t expecting too much about this tent, but I’m really happy with it.
Tried this out once so far in the Lakes. It took a battering overnight from the wind and rain without any issues (my friend’s tent was not so lucky with a pole shattering). Very quick to put up. The aluminium frame design is very strong. It’d be nice if more pegs were supplied for the additional guy ropes. The Y-shape aluminium pegs supplied are excellent. This is a good value, lightweight tent for one person.
Only used in the garden so far but the quality and value for money is obvious already. I bought it for solo backpacking trips as it is only slightly heavier than the one man version and is ideal for storing kit inside also.
Plenty big enough for me (5’10” and 14stone) and all equipment but would be a tight fit for two of my size.
Small packed size and easy to erect and take down. Would definitely recommend this tent for hiking and cycling trips, look no further!
I purchased this item because I wanted a light tent option for backpack camping, I opted for the 4-season tent vs the 3-season so I could use it in winter if I wanted. First I want to say that “2-person” is a *VERY* optimistic description for this tent, 2 small people maybe, but I’m 6’2″ and 210lbs and nobody else is fitting in that tent with me, that said, I don’t mind this as I bought it to use as a solo tent, but just keep in mind if you want to use it as a real 2-person tent you may wanna go with the 3 person tent to be safe.
The tent is very quick and easy to set up, the supplied footprint will help keep the bottom free from damage longer, the poles are easy to use and the fly is easy to clip on.
Despite the fact that there is conflicting information on this tent *IT IS FREESTANDING*. You can layout the groundcloth/floorsaver first, hook the poles into that, then set up the rainfly toss your gear under the rainfly that’s been staked out, then set the tent up, then in the morning, take the tent down first, put it in your bag, then take the rainfly down. That’s pretty important when backpacking to keep your tent nice and dry, especially since this tent is A LOT of mesh under the fly, alternatively you can just use the floorsaver and fly if you are looking do do that.
I tested this tent out in my backyard on a night that wasn’t supposed to rain, I put the fly on anyway just to see about airflow and was very comfortable in it, around 3am I woke up to a downpour, the entire inside of the tent stayed dry all throughout the night, so I am confident this tent will do a good job of keeping you dry even though it could be raining pretty hard.
The aluminum stakes that come with it are nice as are the high vis reflective guylines. Overall I am very pleased with this tent. I can’t really speak on the durability of it because I have not used it enough, but that said it does seem to be constructed very well and I have no doubts that, with the proper care, will last a good long time. Value for the money this tent is pretty hard to beat. If you are just getting into camping/hiking and want to get a good, light tent but not break the bank, this is a pretty good place to start. If you don’t plan on ever camping outside of spring/summer/fall save a few bucks and get the 3-season one which is also a bit lighter.
This is a good tent for the price.
This is the second I have bought, one for me and one for my son, so I must be pleased with it.
It is quite waterproof and this upgraded version (make sure you get this) has good ventilation and stability, even in fairly strong wind.
Size-wise it is fairly typical of tent descriptions i.e. it is just about useable as a two-man in cosy conditions and with no gear in the tent. It is more useful as a one-man tent for backpacking.
Despite the description, the weight of the 20D tents is the same for the three colours (grey, light green, dark green) at 1530g for everything except the groundsheet, which is another 260g and you will need this because the floor of the 20D tent is very thin.
At nearly 1800g for a solo tent, it’s not ultralight, but it is a complete tent, rather than shelters half the weight that are a tarp, minimal inner and you use your walking poles as support.
If you can manage a bit of sewing then add some velcro patches where the outer meets the poles to add a lot of stability. Also make sure you tie on and use the two extra side guys or the outer will flap a lot in the wind and the inner will touch the outer, which will mean water inside in moderate rain.
Shop around because there is up to 100% price difference between online stores for this tent.
great its free standing so if no wind you dont even need guy ropes , easy to carry , spacious and doesn’t feel like a coffin inside , added pic of mine set up in wales
Good price and very good quality for price
Only put up in spair bedroom to check it over very well made and put together with some nice thought gone into the details and design far better than my old tent from 2003 which was lightweight in those days and cost 4 times as much as this one and still had to seam seal every couple off years to stop leaks at the seams
Can’t wait to get out and use it this yea
Used this tent twice now and so far really impressed. It’s stood up to a battering of gale winds and rain on the hills of North Wales without an issue. Goes up quickly and offers more space than you think. Material and construction are spot on, easily on par with more expensive brands. Lightweight, compact and an ideal tent for a backpacker or wildcamper. I’ve owned numerous small backpacking and wildcamping tents over the years and this is impressive.
This is an excellent product, particularly considering its price. I’ve had it for nearly two years and used it extensively (well over 100 nights) over a variety of terrain (like plus 40-degree temperatures and below 0, as well as beaches and rocky ground). The rainfly has held up to very heavy thunderstorms and fairly strong winds too. It does get more condensation that tents I’ve previously used but the moisture has never leaked inside and the fabric dries quickly.
The size is perfect, plenty of space for one person plus a big backpack (I haven’t tested it with two people) and enough headspace to sit up. The entrance is tall enough to cook under on a small stove if the weather is bad too. It weighs about 1.5kg altogether and packs up small so it’s great for hiking and bicycle touring. It’s very quick to pitch and pack once you know how.
Update: After the first year, of use, the groundsheet began to get damp inside, even from just from morning due and while using the footprint. That said I would still purchase this tent again, it’s a great product for the price.
Really impressed; a bargain price but the quality of a much more expensive tent. Great for backpacking as it packs small and light for a tent of its size, but loads of room inside for me and my pack, and can sit up readily. Would fit 2 people easily, and possibly backpacks too if you’re organised. Porch small for 2 but perfect for 1.
Easy to pitch, even in the wet because you can put the outer fly up first (poles fit into footprint) then clip in the inner tent and switch the poles into that.
Extra side guylines on this model make it really stable.
Received the upgraded version today. I was struck by the quality: not a stitch out of place, and all in lovely light nylon. Poles are a workhorse aluminium alloy, so whilst not as strong or as light as DAC, they are certainly reliable. Compared to my previous tent, there is an excellent amount of headheight. Plenty of space for one person. Also, the extra guy points on the upgraded version should really aid stability. There are a total of 5 guy points (2 on the side, 2 on the front, and one on the back on the ventilation flap). Very pleased and would be happy to take this on my next adventure. I cannot comment on the longevity of this tent, though if it lasts a year or so then it more than pays for itself (at a little over 100). I give 4 stars for one reason, which is that there are no velcro tabs to secure the top of fly to the poles. However, given the side guy out points, this shouldn’t be a big deal. I also like the footprint, which is polyster. It adds about 250 grams to the 1.5kg weight of the tent, pegs and poles. So that’s about 1.75kg for a spacious tent for one. I would not recommend for anyone over about 6′ 2″, though, as it is only 210cm long. I am 5′ 6″, and I fit perfectly. I consider myself a relative novice at backpacking, and a tent of this weight, price and dimensions is near-perfect. It is far more ‘livable’ than my previous Zephyros 1.
My friend and I run a hiking channel on YouTube (Summit or Nothing) and are always on the lookout for durable, lightweight tents that are reasonably priced – we seem to have found it in the NatureHike Cloud Up 2.
We have had a good look at the product erected in the back garden, and so far are incredibly impressed with what we have seen. From previous reviews on here and on YouTube, it appears that the current tent has been modified by Nature Hike to eliminate qualms that people have had in the past – it has plenty of ventilation to reduce condensation and extra guide ropes and eye holes on the side to strengthen the structure in the wind.
I have always used the Vango Banshee in the past, and the Cloud-Up not only beats the former in weight saving, but also in room inside too. You can comfortably sit up in the Cloud-Up, and not only that, but the light grey tent material also makes it a lot lighter inside than the gloomy and often claustrophobic interior of the Banshee. And to think that they are practically the same price, too.
Its lightweight skeleton and Y shaped ribbed pegs are not only lightweight but also seem to be a lot stronger than many V-shaped stakes we have tried in the past.
The tent also comes with a secondary groundsheet that will help to protect the tents own ground sheet, but if you wanted to brave it you could always get rid of that and save even more weight, but even with it it still remains a reasonable weight for the lightweight hiker. In fact, we have saved a lot of weight by getting rid of a few of the bags that are provided and sticking.
We are looking forward to giving it a good road test out on the mountains and moorlands of the UK and will be uploading our progress to our channel as we go.
i’ve had some great adventures in this tent. it’s super easy to pitch and strike. it’s very well designed and comes with high quality ropes and pegs.
cheap enough for a kids knockabout tent, strong enough for year round camping and light enough to carry in your pack for miles.
it has stood up to a lot of punishment. my first one unfortunately ripped in 85mph winds. but even then it stayed up and gave shelter long enough for me to get sorted out and ready to move. i’m pretty sure it would have been fine if the wind had stayed at 80mph, and you can’t say that about many tents.
this tent is often described as a chinese knock off of a much more expensive american brand, but when i bought a replacement they had made several improvements so it seems that naturehike take this product seriously and are always listening to feedback and developing it.
i have the 20d one, but the 20d upgraded one looks well worth the extra money for its free standing ability and extra guy points.
great tent.
