Had 5 of these now. Had a little problem with one. A little water ingress, but sorted out promptly and efficiently by seller. Would most certainly buy again. Makes the garden look fantastic.
Great for setting off features with very wide spectrum of colours.
Given current electricity prices, I spent 20+ hours researching dimming floodlights as a cheap alternative to my three 300W traditional incandescent PAR56 light bulbs. My criteria:
– Must work with Google home
– Must emit a decent coloured 2700K white light
– Be at least as bright as traditional 200W bulb
All my research led me to RGBW bulbs which contain both RGB (colour) and W (White) LEDs. This one does not. The only decent option was the older version of this floodlight which was actually more expensive. In the end, took the plunge and bought this newer version.
I have been using these for almost 2 months. Here are my findings.
Pros
– Cheap.
– Perfect for small indoor setting (see photos).
– Works very well with Smart Life app, where you get full control of colours.
– Versatility of use with routines. When I tell Google I am watching TV, half my lights turn off, these floodlights turn red and dim to 10%. When I tell Google I have finished watching TV, the floodlight colours change to 2700K, increase back up to 100%, TV turns off, and all my other lights switch on.
– I was concerned at first that when the power is cut from the mains and restored, the floodlight switches on. Great if these are connected to a wall switch, not so great if permanently plugged in to the mains and you switch them on and off via google or your phone, because if a temporary power cut occurs in your home, these will switch on. Luckily, Smart Life offers the option to control the power on behaviour and you can set it to “Do Not Disturb” requiring “2 consecutive switches to turn on the light”. This has no impact on Google commands, but ensures the floodlights do not switch on after a power cut.
– Do not flicker at all when taking photos or video (i.e. the LED drivers are good quality).
Cons
– Would have loved them to be slightly brighter (see comparison photo where I have one floodlight on 100% alongside my 300W PAR theatre light).
– Antenna does not fold. This is problematic when trying to fit in tight areas (such as behind my TV). Luckily you can easily unscrew the antenna housing which results in a perfectly rectangular floodlight with a bit of wire hanging – just make sure you cover the antenna cable with electrical tape as in theory one can get a bad electrical discharge if touched.
– Requires a fair amount of setup to get them working just how you like. For example, Google Home only has limited preset colours (no colour dial) and some of the presets are terribly off balance (colour “incandescent” is practically pink, “ivory” is not pale, but light blue, etc.). The workaround is to set your favourite colours using Smart Life app and create a scene (which will use the colour you set), then switch over to Google home and create a routine which triggers the scene (that it detects from Smart Life). This is the only way to get Google to use the colours I want. Long-winded, but it works.
– A pure 2700K is difficult to achieve. I’ve attached the closest setting to 2700K (photo with the colour dial). Once set, I’ve created a scene for this warm white, and then created a routine in Google Home triggered by the words “tell the Royals to behave” which will reset the lights to the 2700K that I like.
– The party mode (lights changing with music) is a nice idea but doesn’t work well as it relies on you having smart life app running and listening to your phone’s microphone.
Summary
Great LED floodlights, great price, fun to setup with google home if you have a couple of hours to spare, would highly recommend.
Well made lights, easy to connect through Tuya Smart life app, not as bright as I would have hoped for, so a bit disappointed with that, also there’s no option in the app for White ?? Just colours, but using the app to select yellow/orange and saturation to 70% = warm white , 0% saturation = cool white.
If you ask Alexa for white they go a blueish white,
Good for uplighting or lighting a small area I guess , but don’t expect them to fully light up even a small garden.
The product looks nice and all 4 have been working. From time to time the same one does not connect. Bought 2 more.
Superb lights, very bright for a 25w light, easy to set up with Smart Life, excellent WiFi range, easily change the colour and brightness with Alexa App, Alexa routines mean they can be connected to Ring security cameras and come on with motion detection, definitely recommended.
Hi I wanted some smart floodlights to use with a motion sensor or without, I opted to put a motion sensor on and they work great , I can tilt them easy enough where they are and they remember the last settings used, they are very bright so I’ve turned them down, they are easy to set up the smart life app seems to find them easier than other items I have.
Once you’ve got “smart life” app. Your phone becomes a remote control that can be used from anywhere. Including brightness and colour change. Only had them for a few weeks but have been really pleased with them up to now.
These lights are brilliant, better than a more well known brand as the power cables are not all linked to 1 cable. Sounds an odd thing to say but if like me you want to use proper conduit an junction boxes round your garden fence you can with these as all are powered individually.
Not sure why they use moulded plugs though as you are not likely to have an outdoor socket rigged up for every light in the garden.

If the app had more features I would have given 5 stars
Husband happy with these for a garden party, with music sensors
Husband happy with these for a garden party, with music sensors
These would not add to my Wi-Fi. changed from 5gHz to 2.4 and hey presto all added within minutes.
The app could do with a little refinement as the power button is very small.
Overall the fact I have now bought 12 says it all.
Very simple setup and a great app to set up times to come on. And they are very bright. In my opinion, a bargain for the price. I had bought two originally, and have just purchased four more.
Easy to fit, easy to connect to WiFi and works brilliantly with Alexa.
Novostella 25W Blaze Smart Floodlight LED
Novostella produce a wide range of LED lighting, i have i few others from this brand that have all performed well.
This is an outdoor light waterproof to IP66 rating meaning it is built to withstand whatever the weather can throw at it.
The light can be changed to any colour easily via the app, on testing the app connects quickly and easily to the light and has a intuitive setup making it easy to use. The wifi connection seems strong and stable even when placed a good distance away from our router.
Setup and installation was fairly simple, obviously its best to be on the safe side and get a professional to install outside lights if you dont know what you’re doing.
Been working well for over a month in our garden well and not had any issues with it, looks great in the garden.
Quality feel and very easy to set up. Very pleased with my purchase!
I like the fact that it connects to the smart life app easily.
The mains lead isn’t long enough .
If I was designing these lights, I wouldn’t have a moulded plug at the end of which is primary 1m of cable. If I had to have a moulded plug at the end then 2 m of cable would have been better.. or a connection IP water-resistant where you can extend the cable

Really like these waiting for them to go down in price to buy another 4
I have 5 of these in my garden and they provide a really nice subtle lighting effect. If i need them like the usual white light, they are incredibly bright. Really easy to set up. Have stayed connected to the wifi reliably. Can’t fault them.
Absolutely fantastic. Needed daughter-in-law to do the app etc as I am computer illiterate. Results are stunning. Possibly going for another 4.
Such fun with these lights! Feel really good quality and solidly made. Easy to connect to WiFi- though, remember, you may have to un-sync your dual band WiFi temporarily, as only work on 2.4ghz band. Obviously need a power supply in garden to plug into…Then, voila! So easy to turn the lights off and on via the ‘smart life’ App. Can change colours; set timers; affect scenes with changing colours; all from the phone! Thought would be fun to play with when grandchildren come round… but who needs kids, these things are fun for adults too!
You will very likely have to cut and join the pretty short prewired cable it comes with, but that’s not exactly a big job.
Great light, Alexa integration, what more could you ask for.
This smart LED floodlight is great! I used this in our garden and it works fine! easy to use and easy to install! and it does works with alexa easy connection! Brightness is good! Good value for money
I ordered this to help illuminate my garden now it is starting to get darker in the evenings. I have an outside plug socket to connect it to however I do have to use an extension lead as the provided power cable is not very long. This being said, the light is still great and is very bright. It has an app to connect it to allowing you to change the brightness and colours remotely as well as turning it on/off without having to get up! I have used the light whilst it has been spitting with rain and it was absolutely fine, therefore the waterproof claim seems to be correct, although I wouldn’t want to chance getting it any wetter. The setup process was really straight forward and apart from the short power cable I really cannot fault it. A brilliant light for a reasonable price. Highly recommend.
Although if you’re looking to use this in a bigger garden
It may not serve you to satisfaction.
But for my smaller garden, it’s so lovely.
And very bright.
The cable is not as long as expected but having extended cable box
Will be of help which is perfect.
I don’t really care for devices that are controlled solely by a smartphone App, and even less so when the recommended app requires one to register an account with a third party. I didn’t sign up to that.
Well it seems I did if I wanted to get the Novostella 25W Blaze Smart Floodlight to work… And frustratingly, it was almost to no avail as no amount of trying to set up the Wi-Fi connection would get it to work.
As with many of these Wifi controlled lights, the software requires you to switch the device on and
off three times in succession – this is difficult as the unit has a short strong power cable with a 13a plug, but no switch, so until it is linked the only way to switch on and off is to plug and unplug it. And nothing would get it to start the fast blink that indicates the start of the process.
Much to my surprise however, the auto connect function linked it up with ease, it really was a breeze with a very clear and easy to follow step by step procedure on-screen.
It’s just as well because the default mode for the floodlight is a slow flashing red light, so if the link completely fails and it can’t be made to set up with the app at all, it’s not even any use as a “dumb” floodlight. This is why I always prefer a remote control handset, be it ever so basic, as a failsafe.
So, when it fired up the App revealed itself to be a quite straight forward and easy to navigate set of controls that allow the setting up of various aspects including an absurd number of colour variations, brightness and timer, and it has a variety of presets called “scenes”, many of which I can really differentiate between.
It’s of decent brightness for a 25W LED flood measuring 16cm x 10.7cm – of course it varies depending upon the particular colour; blue is rather darker, yellow is brighter etc – it nevertheless does get fairly hot, the heatsink fins of the solid 169g case do their work.
It’s rated IP66 so is safe to be out in the weather, but the short cable that may be problematic. The lack of an on/off switch once it is linked is not an issue, as the App gives full control. It can be set to remember the last used state as well.
A notable aspect is the aerial atop the floodlight – the claimed extra range was a particular lure for me, and I was eager to see if the performance matched those claims; between back and front of Asparagus Manor is a modest range that nonetheless defeats a lot of Wifi because of the interceding walls.
Thus I’m happy to be able to report that there has been perfect connection at all times with no dropouts; I am very impressed at this aspect.
Once the annoyances and frustrations of registering an account and then linking the app and device had been ploughed through, the result was very pleasing, and I was particularly pleased with the range.
Less pleasing is the failure of manual linking, the parsimoniously short length of cable and to a lesser degree the lack of a physical on/off switch.
Overall though, I think the Novostella 25W Blaze Smart Floodlight can be deemed a success.
Well designed and functions superbly.
Set up
Smart is the right word! I was astonished how easy this was to set up out of the box. Took all of around one minute to finish connecting it to the Smart Home App. The functions are very similar to conventional smart bulbs in that you can set it to react to music (uses the mic within your phone / tablet). The unit looks good and also works well.
Brightness
The lamp is exceptionally bright but with full controllability through the App or through Alexa (Google home not tried). I was very impressed also when the unit hadn’t been used for a couple of weeks, but within seconds it was connected to WIFI and ready to go after plugging it into the mains.
Possibilities
I would like to buy a buy a few of these and install them around the outside of the house as you can group them all together and control them in one command through a smart speaker – it is very easy to do on the Apps.
This is a great quality light. It is solid and well made and very sturdy. Super simple to setup and love the colours it gives off. Has really put a bit of the tropics into my garden. Would totally recommend.
The illumination is very good perfect for a average garden, I recommend it
Pros
– Alexa compatible
– Smart life app
– Bright illumination
– Thin profile
Cons
– Power cord to short
– Changing colour is a bit of a gimmick
The light is bright enough for my average sized garden
Cable is very short (about 1m) and set up could be tricky if you are used to changing router settings etc
Connecting it was super easy,
1- the light starts blinking as soon as it’s powered up
2- open your smart life app and hit the + icon
3- you will be prompted to turn your Bluetooth on
4- it automatically finds the floodlight and asks you which room you want it to be placed in on your app
That’s it
Extremely easy
This novostella is pretty compact and doesn’t weigh as much as them. Though this does mean at 25w it’s not as bright as the bigger versions either
It comes with a protruding antenna to be able to connect to your wifi
Though it doesn’t come with a remote. Tbh I wouldn’t use it as it’s much more convenient to use it with the smart life app on my phone
Now you’re able to set routines, change the colour settings as well as have it respond to music via your phone mic
The only two things dragging the rating down is the short power lead, which means you have to get an outdoor ready power socket nearby
The other is it isn’t as bright as other but I think the functionality and ability to add it to my smart home make up for those quibbles
A very good ligh
It has a patented antenna design for signal enhancement, stable connection and the working distance is up to 80ft. The 25W smart floodlight contains 18 high-quality LED lamp beads that gives off a brighter, more vivid lighting.
The set up is super easy and only takes a few minutes with the guided manual, which I must state is only available to download with the QR code provided and isn’t a handheld paper copy, which is a bit of a disappointment.
Furthermore, the floodlights work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. There is also an app that can be downloaded to be able to change up to 16 million different colours, brightness and lighting scenes.
Overall, this looks great in my garden and is reasonably priced.
This light has a lead just over 1m long. When connected you can pair it up to the SmartLife app (which is great as most of my smart devices are compatible with this). Use the QR code in the leaflet to get clear instructions.
Once paired to SmartLife you can add the device to the Alexa app, and then use voice commands or the app to control colour/brightness, set routines, etc.
Although the light is moderately bright when white, pure read, blue or green are quite dull really, and are good for mood lighting or illuminating foliage – not really up to illuminating an outdoor dining area, for example.
Overall a decent light for special affects, but if you don’t want to install a power socket or don’t have WiFi where you want to illuminate, then look elsewhere for a cheaper alternative.
Overall I’m very impressed with this light, we have had loads of rainy days and there’s no problems with water getting in at all as I’ve found with a few other lamps.
Visually, there’s a stubby wifi antenna, which annoying cannot be retracted as far as I could tell. Other thing I noticed is it really should be wall mounted, yet no screws are provided
Pros
– 25W is a decent brightness
– Can Use Smartlife App, making it accessible like many other devices all using this same app
– Can be Alexa voice controlled
– Colour changing
Cons
– Power cable is short at only around 1m
– stubby Wifi antenna
– No wall mounting screws provided.
At 30 it’s not cheap, but this is one of the 1st flood lights I’ve seen which has built-in Smartlife App integratio
The front glass seal seems really good and the casing is definitely weatherproof although we have elected to keep ours did the roof of the outside hut to ensure it will survive for a number of years although I am sure he is correctly fitted by an appropriate electrician it would also be fine outside completely exposed. As always they shouldn’t be installed by anyone without the relevant competence to do it.
This literally took no time to set up to use with Alexa. I wanted this to light up my front door as it’s on the side of the house and is quite dark, this is perfect for that, lit up the whole doorway but for a wall it wouldn’t light up the whole thing. Nice choice in colours and not too bulky to be in the way . A good price for the job it does.
Arrived well packaged and when I plugged it in emitted a powerful light.
My only problem was that I struggled to get the app to work. I am not the most technically minded so could be more down to me than the app so wouldn’t like to mark it down for that.
The other issues for me was there was no remote or instructions supplied.
adds a great spread of colour outdoors and lights up well, the light connects to WiFi easily and it is controlled over WiFi easily too, good value floodligh
5/5 Brightness
4/5 Easy to install
It doesn’t come with a remote, but it can be controlled by downloading the ‘Smart Life’ app.
I am not new to Smart gadgets like this, so I find them easy to use and install. But when I asked my sister about it (first-timer), she finds it frustrating and total rubbish. It does not come with a user manual. The QR code needs to be scanned for you to dl the digital manual, then it will give you gives step-by-step instructions on how to connect your phone to the floodlight.
The app does all this job. It doesn’t have any buttons or remote control to change the lights, dim them or set the timer. If you’re the old-school type who doesn’t wanna use Wi-Fi to control it using a device or gadget, or if you’re planning to install this in a secluded place where there’s no Wi-Fi connection, skip this and find a more straightforward outdoor light.
If you’re planning to let it sit on the ground, the cable might be a little annoying as it protrudes on the rear. However, the cable is approximately 111cm, so if this is too short for you, then you might as well get an extension cord. In my opinion, it is too short.
These floodlights are of good size as it’s made from durable steel. The wiring is thick and well-made. It’s rated IP 66, which makes it suitable for extreme weather, but I can’t attest to it yet as it hasn’t rained or snowed that hard.
It has pros and cons, but this set is of high quality. It has a considerable angle that can illuminate a huge space in a property/area.
Overall, I find it recommendable but needs a bit of improvement.
