I am a plumbing and heating engineer by trade, and I’ve seen a lot of toilet seats in my time. A good quality seat nowadays is usually around 40-60 so I was very surprised and happy the Pipshell is just 20 and such good quality.
It has an excellent soft close mechanism and easy to fit. The brackets are also excellent and it’s secure and comfortable at the same time. Highly recommended A+
The toilet seat came with all the correct bits in the box plus a couple of spare “washer/plugs”. Installation was really easy and the slow close seems to be working fine for the first few tests.
To aid anyone else who asks the same question I did; It comes with tasteful white plastic covers for the fixings = very subtle in my view and less likely to suffer from “discoloration”
THIS toilet seat, however, had enough extension capacity to fully cover the toilet pan.
For a cheap, basic toilet seat, with easy-fitting, soft-close features and easy seat-removal for cleaning, I cannot fault this item.
With the caveat that only time and use will tell if it remains as good as it appears now at installation.
Second time I’ve bought this make. Last one lasted over 4 years and I only changed it because the release button surface was a bit manky. But otherwise this fits well and the action is smooth
Good value. Do find that they stain over time if little Jonny isn’t careful so tend to replace every couple of years. But at this price that’s ok. Otherwise good quality, easy to fit and comfortable to sit on!
It’s a nicely made item and was very easy to fit. It didn’t even require the use of any tools. As long as you can get onto your knees you can fit it. It even comes with a detachable child’s seat. It’s not the cheapest seat available but I think it is still good value and should last a long time.
The seat has a soft close function and it is important that you allow the seat to close on its own – the mechanism can be damaged if you close it by force.
My original toilet set was a Perssalit and was what is called a Happy D design. It was an OEM made for a Duravit toilet pan (20 years ago?). I liked its heavy build and quality, and was told by Duravit that the replacement is a 0066910000 (Starck 2 model) along with their own fitting pins (0050500000). This was coming to approx 160 but also it would take two+ weeks to get them. After a lot of researching, I very anxiously ordered these toilet seats (Duravit has a very wide pin placement that most 3rd part toilet seat manufacturers cannot cater for).
After installing it and 2 weeks later, I am very happy with the quality and fitting of this 3rd part toilet seat. Good sturdy material – which was VERY important to me (and not those cheap plastic type light ones)
Very sturdy and installs really easily. The clip on and off mechanism doesn’t work well at all. I could barely get it to attach on install. Once it did attach I decided to never try to get it off or on again. Its fine though as I didn’t buy it to take it on and off quickly (why on earth would you want to do that?). It is genuinely better than the Twyford it replaced. Massive bargain and really solid.
Very pleased with the toilet seat, very easy to install and fits better than the one we bought with the toilet. This was a replacement for my previous seat that had discoloured and soft close had stopped working. Only time will tell if both these things are ok with this new one but so far so good.
Was straightforward to install, fixings are adjustable to get the right fit.
My only concern was when I opened the box, the seat was not in any kind of plastic (but then maybe it was not meant to be) but there were 2 pieces of loose plastic wrapping in the box which looked as if they might have been the wrapping off the seat, suggesting that this might be a returned item.
However, I could see no marks on the seat or lid so have kept it. Strange though the plastic film loose in the box!
Must admit when I first received this I couldn’t see how it was going to fit as it seemed very long from point to back but once opened there was plenty adjustment on the fittings to fit it just in the right place. Fits perfectly and excellent quality, especially when you consider how much it cost. Very comfortable and good weight so feels really expensive. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
A direct replacement for the same type, which is fine. Would have preferred a heavier duty seat, but this was the one that fitted best. Fairly well made and comfortable. Time will tell…
Ordered two of these toilet seats. One of them was properly packed with the fixing screws, on the other one the protective plastic was torn and the fixings were missing. Since this is a sanitary item it was most disconcerting to find the protective covering open. Attempts to contact Amazon through the website proved impossible – chat function not fit for this type of complaint and the phone-back option was useless: having to press various numbers only to end up with dead air. Otherwise the product itself is good.
My old seat had metal to metal bolt joint. In a wet environment, when one side of the fixing to the bowl got loose. It was irrevocable. Then the seat cracked. Brute force removed the old one. This new seat is easy release so my old problem cannot re occur. When I fitted the rubber grommet that goes into vitreous bowl holes., the whole lot came out when I tried to remove the seat from testing the got into the seat holes. I got the width right but when fully screwed down the bolt still kept turning if the screwdriver is applied.
Therefore I am unsure whether the whole arrangement will not move in time as the previous more secure fixing did. Hence 4 instead of 5 stars. In fact, the bolt hole plugs being made of rubber, the seat went askew slightly as the rubber is not a solid fixing inside the hole, but it twisted back. If the entire seat security fails one day, it will be easy to remove and replace unlike the original. It is excellent value compared to many other makes
To prevent this I clean the covers and spray with a clear lacquer to protect them. I’m sure that the manufacturers of these hinges could use a higher grade of stainless steel for a slight increase in price. Don’t however let this put you off buying this seat.
I replaced with a cheaper one in the past which didn’t last – this one does! Good quality and easy to fit – even if you don’t have any skills!
This is a good seat, very secure now fitted. However, if the hinge holes on the lavatory don’t match up, it’s not quite as easy to fit as the video and instructions suggest. When aligning the seat the nuts have to be slack enough to allow adjustment, but tight enough so that it doesn’t come out of alignment when you lift off the seat for final tightening. It took several attempts to get the best fitting. Once in place, it seems very good and the feature where the seat can easily be lifted off for cleaning is good.
I like how the seat secures to the bowl. Nice and easy to do .
I have given the product 4 out of 5 because:
* Lining up the hinges is tricky and requires patience.
This took me several attempts to accomplish.
* The one click release button doesn’t work as smoothly as I had expected. This requires a bit of effort and wriggling before the seat detaches.
* The bolts/screws provided did not tighten into the grommet sufficiently, even though the grommet itself was a perfect fit in my toilet. I had to use the second, smaller set of grommets and attach those to the bottom of the other set and tighten them up. This allowed me to sufficiently tighten up the bolts/screws and keep the seat from moving about.
Overall I’m happy with this purchase from Pipishell, as there are so many other options to choose from. I can’t comment on the longevity of the product but it certainly feels well made, looks good (as far as toilet seats go) and I would recommend this if you are thinking of changing/upgrading yours.

This was a lower priced replacement for a damaged branded product fitted to my new property. The seat was very well made, reasonably priced and pretty good value. Easy to fit but needed adjustment after a couple of weeks.
The top review for this product had me really worried, but it is actually misleading. The item was exactly as ordered and to spec. Efaucets (the seller I bought from) is on top of things, they got the new seat to me in less than two days. Every part of this order was beyond what i could ask for. Can’t tell you how nice it is to order a new toilet seat when the old one breaks and receive it in less than 48 hours. Really appreciated it!

This is a really well made, sturdy, solid seat. Very easy to install, well packaged and comes with all the relevant fixings and clear instructions.

Pros: Reasonably easy to fit. Fittings generally stayed in place. Easy to remove to clean
Cons: The soft close is not so soft now after couple of months. Bit more of a bang to it now but still does the job
Installation a tiny bit finicky, button to remove lid doesn’t function very smoothly so one can end up pulling the fitting plugs out, could do with some kind of rubber seal on the brackets to make it more of a solid fix. Closes nice and soft, shape could be a little more rounded, and the inner lid seems to slope inward a bit too much, so a tiny bit less comfortable than my previous seat. All in all, decent. 20 mins to fit.
Seat feels and looks quality, fitting time for me was minimal, overall in my experience I would recommend this product.
The build quality is good. The installation is not the easiest but not difficult either. The easy remove button works but not as smooth I expected. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars.
Dimensions not clear. The width includes the lid, which overlaps the seat, by a total of 1cm (0.5cm Which is smaller than I wanted.)
Soft close didn’t really work, you have to push it down to get it to drop.
But for price is ok.
Replaced a seat that had lasted for around 11 years after the hinges broke. This was easy to install and so far so good… seems like a solid product, fits the loo perfectly and happy with my purchase. Hope it will last just as long.
Very good value and large amount of adjustment when fitting. “raw plug” style fitting makes securing into blind holes easy. Only problem is plug can pull out when adjusting position prior to tightening down.
I have struggled to find a top fixing toilet seat that is of good quality. All the previous ones I have good from local suppliers have been made of mdf and cracked or have come loose at the hinges after 2 days. The last one I got from B&Q stated it was top fixing but when I opened the box it wasn’t. This toilet is easy to install, fits the slim style toilet perfectly and is of excellent quality. I would recommend this to anyone.
It replaced the existing lose non soft close seat and fitted well, and has stayed where put, so the fixings worked well in my case. Soft close was a must after moving house, too a loo without it you forget the new loo did not have soft close and I kept dropping the old seat exspecting it to close slowly 🙂
I never thought I’d review a toilet seat. It pretty much fits our squarish toilet. It’s ready to fit and adjustable. Easily removed for cleaning and it appears well made and tough. It goes up and down (slowly) and you can sit on it. What more can I say?
Several months in, it’s still a white toilet seat. Still does what is meant to do.
I bought this as a replacement for two less quality units and I’m well pleased. The difference is incomparable. This seat is made from sturdier material and is easily fitted and cleaned by use of a quick release mechanism.
I must note this is not as good as the original seat which lasted over 12 years but it’s close.
Could not be easier to fit.
Took a lot longer to remove the old seat and lost the fixings in the toilet base never to be seen again.
The plumber fitting the original also had this problem when fitting the original seat!
This cannot happen with this new seat. The fixings are a superb design.
The shape of the seat fits my Laufen toilet better than the original.
Was also as white as the original and is as white as any other seats made.
Bought two so far 2 weeks apart and the price had gone up about 6 for the 2nd one but I would have paid even more as I don’t think there is a better one on the market.
I will get the third I will need at some point but don’t need it immediately so have time to wait for a price drop.
I saw another review saying the fixing covers were blue and not silver.. They did not remove the protective plastic coating! Lol.
Packaging was also excellent.
As another mentioned there is a very slight donk on closing when the seat and lid are dropped (like a kitchen cupboard lightly closing) but it is very minimal and I would say it is because it is slightly heavier than my original seat (which sometimes used to clonk when I lifted it!)
Overall I am very happy with these seats and could not find a better one on the market.

It feels quite luxurious and very sturdy, if you can describe a toilet seat in that way. I’d say it’s better than my original seat. I’m surprised some customers have said that their seats have broken, it looks very good quality, so maybe it came down to how they were fitted?
I read the other reviews and the one regarding the tightening of the plastic clips as much as you can is correct, as it wouldn’t even stay on the toilet when they were loose. I found getting it square a bit tricky – but it is possible, you just need to be patient and adjust a tiny tiny amount, see how it closes, unclip, then adjust again. I’m referring to the spikes and how they move round. Get those exact before you put the stainless steel covers on. It’ll make sense when you’re doing it.
I’m not sure how long the soft close will last, but I think the replacement plastic plugs included are for when it comes loose and cannot be tightened anymore, so that was quite a good idea.

I ordered 3 of these seats. Two were great, one did nit have any fittings in the box. I write to the company and got no response. Had to use the fittings from the old seat. The seats are great but I have been left feeling the company service was non existent.
A child could fit this, very easy to fit how well it arrived even the Box was great which showed how they look after customers. And there products. Had already looked at some seats in B & Q this product was far superior in every aspect Thank you

I bought two of these toilet seats to replace some cheap broken seats fitted by the previous owner of my property. They were easy to install, and fit the toilets perfectly.
The seats are good quality and very solid, making using the loo a much more comfortable experience. They also make cleaning the toilet much easier.
If the dimensions match those of your toilet, I would not hesitate to recommend that you purchase one of these.
Good product that was as advertised. Unfortunately did fit our bowl well as although I measure everything correctly, in order for the seat cover to stay up I needed to position the seat too far forward which meant the top of the bowl can be seen. Would need a lot more dimensions / guidance to be available in order for this to be known prior to purchase.
This was an Amazon recommended product, not sure why exactly. Price was average, quality is ok but there is a little play in base and lid hinge. Soft close mechanism works except for the last 10cm of closing when it seems to give up, closing with a slight clunk. not enough to warrant a return, but something to keep an eye on.

Good quality item as replacement for my RAK back to wall rimless toliet. So easy to fit and align.
Only issue, due to heavier weight of the seat lid, the soft close system is not 100%. When closing the seat closes fast, faster than the original but, not as though without soft close system. Would be good if it was possible to tighten up system to give more resistance. All in all, happy with purchase.
Item came well packaged in perfect condition with all fixings present with a choice of 2 different size fixings to go into base of toilet.
Easy to follow instructions. Was a doddle to fit and there is some space to be able to move seat to fit properly around your toilet bowl.

This is the second of these loo seats I have bought. The first was to replace a very old and stained seat that I had been unable to clean to my satisfaction. The old one was a fiddle to clean anyway because it was not soft closing and not easy to remove. The new one was so easy and so nice that I thought I’d replace the upstairs loo seat too.
Of course, I’d forgotten the details of the installation but the instruction leaflet is clear and easy to understand, albeit with small font and diagrams (oh, the failings of old age). Anyway, a 65-year-old woman has now managed to replace two of these and I love them.
This seat has held solid so for for over a week which with my 2 kids is good going! Looks like it will also last longer than that..!
Sturdy rather than cheap flimsy plastic and easy to fit, took me around 20 minutes to replace my old one and I’m not that handy.
1. The white colour is as white as any other white toilet seat – some reviews said theirs was off colour, this one whilst not ‘brilliant’ or ‘ice’ white, was the same white as the seat it replaced
2. Wobbling – when the seat is upright there is a little movement but in the down position it seems very sturdy
3. installation – I was really impressed. I was worried because it was a different fitting to the original seat. The original seat had been installed on the close-coupled toilet before the toilet was installed and the fitter had used the ‘underneath’ fitting which meant that unfortunately, once the toilet was installed you can no longer get ‘underneath’ and so it needed a ‘blind’ / above fitting (that came with the new seat). Before ordering I had double checked the diameter of my hole and was a little concerned as it was the upper limit tolerance of what the specifications said and some reviewers had said that thiers was loose. I need not have worried, i installed the plastic ‘raw plug’ fitting in the hole and then put the the caps on and started tightening the screws- it is important to say you have to tighten for quite a while before the fixing becomes fully firm (effectively the screw pulls up and expands the rawplug in the hole). It could be that others who experienced problems with lossness may not have quite kept tightening until the raw plug was very firm. I had expected at least 30-45 minutes but total fitting time was probably 5 minutes.
The seat itself seems sturdy enough and so far so good
The size fits my loo fine, and was easy to install. However the actual seat is wobbly when connected to the bracket and this cannot be improved by adjusting the installation. Once you’re sat on it you wouldn’t notice it, it’s just if you wiggle it by hand it moves. Very easy to clean and take the seat off using the button. Happy with the soft close also.
Good product, easy to fit. Have noticed however that after a few weeks the spring seems to lose some strength resulting in the seat banging as it shuts. Perhaps a stronger spring is needed.

Correctly measured but is slightly smaller than expected. Had to improvise with the attachment to the pan as the fittings were smaller than expected. On the plus side, looks good and easy to remove for cleaning.
It’s a nice looking seat, feels a nice quality and is easy to fit as we had similar fixings on our old seat.
However… there’s a slight play in the seat. I’ve tightened the fixings up, ensured no play in them at all. Installed seat and when you try to move it it does move about 5-10mm from the toilet seat itself- no movement from the fixings of the seat to the toilet but rather the hinge of the seat itself. If that makes sense.
That being said, you don’t notice it when you sit down on it and there’s not really any movement. I’m 9 months pregnant and I feel happy to sit on it and confident it isn’t going anywhere.
Great value for the quality but one star lost due to slight play on seat overall.
The seat itself is excellent and the soft close functions well. However, I found it hard to fit onto the spindles couldn’t locate if screwed on very tightly. When slightly loosened able to locate but not to tighten the screws to the maximum. This has left the seat with a small movement.
This is quite a chunky toilet seat. The lid is quite deep, and the seat solid – heavy duty? Yes! If you’re looking for something more refined or elegant (if there is such a possibility with the humble toilet seat!) then this isn’t for you! It seems quite robust, but I’ll reserve judgement! It was nice and easy and quick to fit. The only thing for me is that the plastic ‘bolts’ you insert seemed a little on the small side, which is ironic as reading other reviews I was worried they’d be too big! You do get a spare set, which is useful, but I hope that doesn’t mean they expect them to fail quickly! So, I’m not sure it feels quite as solidly fixed in place as the one it replaced. Time will tell. I like the single release button, which seems a little easier to use than the individual ones on the other toilet. However, it does feel a little like I’m going to pull the fixing plates out when I take the seat off, as you do need to pull quite firmly. Perhaps this will ease up in time. Removing the seat does make cleaning quicker though, so I’m in favour of it. Fits my d-shaped toilet well. Happy so far..
This was to replace a lavatory seat on a Laufen Pro toilet. I did a lot of research on sizes and quality as the price of a Laufen seat was exorbitant. The sizes described matched the original seat and the fittings were identical. The seat is very good quality, sturdy, and a doddle to fit. It was fitted and working in a very short time. The soft close is very soft and better than the original. It fits perfectly and I have no hesitation giving it full marks. You can not tell it from the original. Some reviewers seem to have trouble fitting it but if you follow the simple instructions you can have the job done in minutes.
The toilet seat is great but the screws and holders that the seat comes with aren’t great. i ended up using the screws and rawl plugs that had come with the previous seat which is why I marked the install down.
That aside the seat itself is great and the release feature to make it easer to clean is brilliant. Would recommend the seat but use your existing screw fixtures!
Release button does not work so now have seat jammed on toilet. I think it will have to be broken up to remove! Update on original review: Since our original review, the supplier has been extremely helpful and given us a full refund. We have no complaints regarding the supplier’s response and he assures us that the product has been upgraded.
I am a woman who has over the years always fitted my toilet seats. I have sweated, cursed and and had to be a contortionist. Heard about top fittings so thought I’d buy this and try for my U shape toilet. Wow, it took me 10 minutes from start to finish. It came with 2 alternative sized plastic plugs for universal fit. put those in , tightened screws slightly then put seat on to line up around the bowl. You then remove the seat buy pressing the release button. Screw fixing tightly , add covers , put seat back on, hey presto ! Would buy again!
We’ve only had this toilet seat a few days but so far its all good. Our old toilet seat was very difficult to remove, involving getting in contorted positions on the bathroom floor with tools! The new one, we were pleased to discover fits from above. Comfortable, sturdy, easy to clean , and does not crash down if left upright like our old one did! Also a better shape to match our loo. Removable for thorough cleaning, with the press of a button. A useful feature. We had a previous soft close toilet seat , that the soft close feature failed, so only time will tell if this one lasts. Looses half a star for being a little creaky, when sat on, but benefits outweigh this tiny disadvantage.
The delivery time was excellent as it arrived the next day. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and feel of the seat and lid which both feel like they are will made for long lasting use. Please take time out to understand how to install the product effectively. It was easy to install. The anchoring top fixing has to be tightened until it locks or it won’t hold the seat firmly in place. Avoid tightening it before you happy with how the seat is lined up with the toilet. It was the right size and the color matches well for my toilet. I have only had it installed for a week now and it seems to be holding up well.
I would recommend this product.
Straight forward install with a couple of spare fitting bushes, well packaged and functions as described. A replacement for a similar seat which the release mechanism gave up the ghost after six years but otherwise still pristine. I doubt this will last as long as the material is thinner, no rounding off at the edges and appears brittle with a bit of lateral movement in the hinges. Happy enough with it for what it is.
Having said that, if you followed the instructions before ordering, you should not have this problem.
