Got this camera to spot wildlife in the garden. Did not really need the one to move around but glad I did as I can change the camera position from the comfort of my chai
Fantastic quality and the 360 operation is exactly what I am looking for on my narrowboat. I will mount it under a perspex dome, upside down. The dome will protect it from rain and the elements, as well as thieves.
I have 15 of these round our property give us brilliant visibility when we’re away the app could do with a few fixes : cant delete a camera if it dies , really need to be able to set a custom timeout as some are slower to fire up but these are nit picks really
Very pleased with the performance of the camera and solar panel. Image quality recorded is very good. Camera and solar panel were easy to install. Setup was straightforward and smartphone app is easy to use.
The camera is excellent no doubt about it, but the solar panel is absolutely useless, only charges about 2 % in whole day, so I bought another solar panel from Amazon for 39 and it works very well charges 50% in 6 hours
These are so easy to install you can install them anywhere you can get Wi-Fi ! Best bet is to wait until there’s an offer on as you can save a few quid !
I recently purchased the Reolink Argus PT 4MP Outdoor Wireless Security Camera with the accompanying solar panel, and overall, I am quite pleased with my purchase. The camera boasts impressive image quality, capturing clear and crisp footage day and night. The ability to monitor my outdoor spaces with such clarity brings a great sense of security and peace of mind.
One of the best features of this camera is its excellent movement trigger. It’s highly responsive to any motion in its field of view, ensuring that I never miss a moment. This is especially important for security purposes, and the Argus PT delivers admirably in this regard.
Mounting the camera was a pretty easy, thanks to its easy-to-use mounting system. It allowed for flexible placement options, ensuring I could find the perfect angle to cover my desired areas and the camera can be moved from the app. Additionally, the fun options like time-lapse provide an enjoyable way to review long periods of footage in a condensed and engaging manner, I have attached an example of this (taken through a bot of a dirty window).
The solar panel is a thoughtful addition that promises to keep the camera charged sustainably. While it works well in areas with moderate movement triggering, I did encounter an issue with the battery life in height trigger areas. Despite the solar panel, the battery didn’t stay charged as effectively as I had hoped, which was a bit disappointing. In these specific locations, I found myself having to manually recharge the battery more frequently than expected.
Despite the minor hiccup with the battery life, I still find the Reolink Argus PT 4MP Outdoor Wireless Security Camera to be a reliable and valuable addition to my home security setup. The image quality and movement trigger are top-notch, and the convenience of the solar panel, though not flawless, is a step towards eco-friendliness. With a few tweaks to improve battery performance, this camera would undoubtedly earn a perfect score from me. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality outdoor security camera with excellent features and easy setup.
These are great units, easy to install, the solar panel keeps enough charge even in the U.K. Design of the bracket could be better, to keep the power wire dry under the bracket ‘canopy’ means a very tight squeeze on the antenna but with care it possible. I’m not sure this connection would prove all that resilient if exposed directly to the rain etc.
The wireless range is good but not brilliant, they need a decent bandwidth to view live via the Reolink app which in itself is very good, very easy to navigate and also initialise the cameras on arrival. It’s also very easy to share the cameras to multiple devices. I found fitting an outdoor internet booster improved reliability hugely but for viewing purposes you are at the mercy of your internet provider. The picture quality is high, and so far none of these have failed, I’ve have four running now, the oldest for well over a year. Great product, does the job. I noticed the latest model has improved weather proofing to the solar input cable but I would still be sure to make sure this connection is orientated to be under the bracket. The sensitivity is widely adjustable so false alarms can be swiftly avoided once you have it up and running and slowly reduce sensitivity.
For the money they’re hard to beat.
A few things to know about the Reo cameras: they are solid with a metallic case, they are very well sealed against rain and especially the single cable input for the solar cell, which have a rubber grommet to make a tight fit, and they are quite easy to set up.
Looking at the small 6W solar cell, you’d think it would not maintain enough battery-charging power to keep going but the snow field in the first image was on weeks with little but ambient cloudy light, yet the battery indicator showed just a few percentage points drop. Depending on how much recording is done – usually automatically when the sensor (passive infra-red) detects movement – and how much remote viewing/downloading is done, expect months before needing to unclip the camera body to charge by a power adaptor.
Keep in mind your needs – it is best for keeping track of unwanted visitors or those wanted visitors such as wildlife – so don’t expect notifications when nothing is happening. It is not for recording 24/7 stillness.
But the 2nd picture should give an idea of the image quality. I install CCTVs in many difficult locations and these are the best images I’ve found from cameras that are not mains-adapter powered, in fact as good as any.
Reo also make a camera with a built-in cellular/mobile link. Also available with 4MP images.
I’ve held back this review a year watching for something to fail. I had a couple of technical queries to Reo (always answered promptly) but all cameras still recording with no degradation.
I don’t write many reviews but I really wanted to share my experience with anyone looking to buying this product. It is fantastic, really easy to install the product is of good quality and I think is great value. The manual is easy to use and if you need it you can go to the manufacturers website and get additional information. Once it was installed the rest of the set up was straight forward. The router is nearly 20 meters away in another building and it still works perfectly well. I have it installed on my laptop at home and my phone, the notifications come through when they should my only negative comment would be that there is a time delay between receiving the notification and being able to log in to view but the play back mode sorts this out. The only thing I would have liked which it doesn’t do is motion tracking but I have no hesitation in recommending this great product.
Delighted I chose this camera. The setup was super easy and there are several YouTube guides if you need them. Picture quality is excellent as is the pan and tilt functionality from my mobile App. I had a minor issue (my fault!) which was completely resolved thanks to the excellent email Customer Support from Reolink. They are a really professional company and have been fantastic. No hesitation in recommending this superb product.
Like –
Very good picture and an app that you can run on your PC which is as good if not better than the mobile app.
Simple to install and the Solar Panel keeps the system fully charged, even on dull days.
Good and prompt support when required.
No subscription – Unlike many other similar products that hide “feature subscriptions” in the small print.
Dislikes:
Really useless at detecting a person walking towards the camera – support says it is only good at detecting objects going sideways 🙁
So, if you, like us, have to point the camera down your driveway or path leading to your front door, enjoy looking at the back of the person as that’s about all it will record. This PIR detection needs massively improving.
Night vision is poor. Needs an LED light to assist which it doesn’t have?
No light to warn off intruders as well as light up the area – a serious weakness.
No shortcut/pre-saved camera position to quickly move the camera to a predetermined position.
No tracking of a subject as they approach and walk past the camera.
Looking forward to the next release/update and improvements to the Camera and if the improvements are good enough to warrant it, we’ll replace the one we have with the next generation.
Good picture and easy to set up but the anti-flicker should be off as default as I thought mine was duff when I took it outside to install as the picture was all white until I turned anti-flicker off.
I’ve bought a couple of different cameras in the past an not been impressed either with the camera itself or the difficulty setting up the software to access them remotely.
I bought two of these with the solar panels and they were a doddle to set up and the picture quality is great and despite me having the cameras quite a way from my router I’ve only experienced one drop out since buying them. Don’t need to charge them at all, the solar is taking care of that.
Detection works OK but people detection doesn’t catch the person for a couple of seconds when they are nearer the camera.
A good solid well made camera!!
The only disappointment is the delay from the Camera of approx 5 seconds.
So someone walking through the backdoor, shows a few seconds later.
There is also a delay when pan or tilting the Camera!!
If you only want to fix it looking at a certain position then it is all good.
If you only need to capture any unlawful activities and you don’t mind the few seconds of delay, then all good.
The really good thing is that you do not need a subscription, as all the footage can be stored on a sd card directly on the camera.
update:
I had an issue with the night vision in that when you select Colour it is all clear and bright until you exit the App. When you open the app again the colour is now dark!!
So it has to be left on Auto or Black & White.
Customer service was fantastic in responding to my messages and then sent me another replacement camera to try!!
Overall a Good Honest and Credible company.
Unfortunately my issues persist and I am returning the camera sent to me and keeping the original with its limitations that are known to me, as it suits my needs.
For various reasons I need to often park my campervan on different parts of my drive. This camera allows me to adjust the view very quickly so that I maintain security coverage.
The good:
Surprisingly easy setup. Connects to home wifi and allows remote viewing and operation of the Pan/tilt once you’ve made a free Reolink login.
Solar-backed battery is amazing. Even through the depths of winter it’s never dropped below 85% full. Frequent usage will probably affect this though.
The solar panel can be mounted independently (~up to 2m away) of the camera unit, so allowing best positioning for camera view and power gathering.
The mobile phone app is quite well featured, allowing setup of sensitivity, exclusion zones, alarm and notifications (and loads more).
Exclusion zones allow the camera to ignore parts of its field of view and completly ignore objects below certain sizes.
Remote operation over internet and mobile (while away from the wifi) is like magic. I hope it doesn’t have too many security issues…?
The bad:
Best detection is when people of cars move ACROSS the field of view rather than towards the camera. This means that the camera is a bit slow to detect people walking straight up a driveway, and you can fool it by running directly towards the camera (you’re under it and out of view by the time it’s reacted).
Careful positioning should help to minimise this problem, but it could be a problem in a small front garden.
The ugly:
None
Good product. Very easy to install. The one thing it really lacks is instructions on how to use the camera once you install it. Some people are not tech Savey. Come on reolink. It would make this product excellent.
This is the third Reolink we have purchased. Based upon how well the others worked and how well the batteries performed even during quite prolonged periods of dull days we decided that we are completely happy with our purchases. So easy to set up and link to phone, tablets etc.
I purchased this for the rear of my house, wireless connection was poor in some locations but I put this down to the location of the camera in relation to my router. Having found a “Sweet spot” I mounted the camera and solar panel without issue. Very easy to add to my other Reolink camera (Duo) which by the way works perfectly) It has to be pointed out that I returned a previous version of this camera due to some fogging of the lens probably due to poor sealing. I am hoping this one does not have the same issue otherwise it too will be going back. I do wish Reolink would provide an alternative mounting bracket for the Solar panel which could be extendable and have the ability to be angled midway so the panel could be positioned better towards the sun. Not everyone has a perfect South facing home!
Very impressed with this camera, the instructions were crystal clear, set up easy and so far the battery life seems really good.
The actual camera has great night vision even without the LED lights and is really clear in the day.
Easy to set up with good picture quality & motion detection but the best bit is you don’t need a hub for it to work, this is my 1st Reolink purchase and won’t be the last really impressed with the quality.
Had stroke cannot get to my door..Able to talk to people making deliveries
This camera is so easy to install, works better than we expected, fantastic product, great value.
Great camera. We turn off motion detection and use this as a nanny cam for our outdoor rabbits. We dont use the solar panels and get about a month out of the battery before recharging. Have never had a problem with the wifi reception or anything. Only one minor criticism is the movement is not smooth when controlling it from phone. It’s slightly awkward to get it to point exactly where you want. Not a big issue for us though. I have two and would not hesitate to buy another.
Great camera picture quality is ok and it has good night vision. Unfortunately the Alexa integration on is very poor all it will do is give you a spoken alert with no thumbnail shot, you have to open up the app.The alert on the phone is the same you only get a ping and a written alert and no picture.
Very easy to set up and attach to outside wall. Camera able to read car registration numbers within 100m. Proactive movements using app on my phone. Did not think the price was justified.
my request because of internet speed and thick walls, and this one same walls same intetnet worked perfectly fine and less coas
Great camera, but is the sun doesnt shine, you really should have a usb lead attached to it ready to switch it on. Great value for money, but be prepared for when its not sunny. PS; i have purchased 2 other riolink cameras and i find them to be good quality, value for money. Make sure if you get the wired ones, you buy a special ethernet cable connector. As the ones that come with it are PANTS. very happy with them.
Really good quality fixing kits good paint finish on solar panel fittings ,did have to try 3 tomes to link it to my router but Success at last !!! Really pleased with pic quality pan tilt and zoom works really well night time quality pretty good but I do have pir linked outside lights to have better definition really pleased great produc
Excellent camera for the money. A bit temperamental though to connect remotely
Great Cameras, easy to set up and install.
Clear picture quality & good price.
Not put up yet but charged the battery installed memory card and connected to app and WiFi so ready for install, easy to set up quality looks dece
Set it up in the house. Then drill to outside. Add a 128mb micro SD. No more expenses. You can subscribe to the cloud but I don’t bother. It’s high enough so people can’t reach it so I just open the app and it has months of video (depending on how many times the motion sensor gets triggers).
Solar panel works well, Battery is always full. Motion detection is excellent. Pairing with my 5ghz wifi was easy. No issues so far.
I also have the more expensive arlo system, this beats it hands down.
Great little camera so I’ve ordered a second. Easy set up and connection to our 5G WiFi, with lots of options to configure. Good picture quality and free cloud storage for the first camera, but I’ll upgrade to a paid service once I’ve two cameras operating – it’s only a couple of ponds per month and more secure than an SD card should someone steal the camera itself. Only thing I’m still playing around with is the sensitivity of the PIR so it activates immediately as someone steps onto the drive but not as they’re walking by on the footpath.
We bought with solar panel and first thing to note is unless your on a quiet street then you will need to limit the detection zones as it will drain the camera. Once did this then been absolutely spot on. Ability to rotate is so good as allows us to check the entire property, although I would like the automatic spanning of the camera to be added. Quality is fantastic day or night and we use it fully WiFi and works great. Definitely worth the money and so much easier having no wires.
This camera does the job for me. Just wanted a simple video Surveillance/Monitoring cam. It rotates but zoom not up to the mark. I can communicate with people outside which is a great feature. Comes with a solar powered recharging and battery lasts a long time.
Cover’s rear of the property with good 360 vision. Street light outside and works very well at night.
It’s good, the notifications piss you a bit. Our roads busy so we get a notification every 5 mins
It is easy to setup and install.
Please note,
Has to be within range of Wi-Fi
Has to be in a position where solar panel can get light
Cable from solar panel to camera is about 3m long
Needed to reboot mine after setup to get it working correctly.
More than one camera on the cloud storage requires a paid subscription. One camera is free.
Absolutely love this camera once you get to grips with it.
Easy to fit and connect to the wifi. pretty straightforward to connect computers, pads and phones to view the live streams. The solar panel is a good option to keep the battery topped up.
Put it up connected it to Home WiFi and it works brilliantly
Motion detection misses lots of action. Night vision is very good. Good playback of videos. Good pan, tilt and zoom but does not track. With the solar panel is virtually maintenance free. I love this and it’s fairly priced. Still the best I know tho..

I like this cctv because it’s solar powered. Easy to set up. And the price is pretty decent too..
Because my wife is dual band (2.4/5.0 ghz) I can only use certain cameras. Most cameras are 2.4ghz only. I already have an internal Reolink camera so adding this one to my app was pretty straightforward. The alerts are very good and I like the fact that it tells you if it a person, or a vehicle or both. It is easy to review the alerts. My cats don’t set it off which is a plus. Picture quality is good and the solar charging is working well. Overall I’m pleased with the purchase. Does exactly what I wanted it to do.

If you use the HD function it struggles a bit to control while panning and frame rate isn’t great. Don’t say it’s because of my Wi-Fi because I have 250mb fibre and everything in the house runs seamless. Also the PIR seems a little hit and miss even after trying lots of different sensitivity settings. Other than that it does the job and coupled with the solar panel means no need to worry about powe

The camera works well, as its battery though it won’t follow the person/animal its captured. Video quality and night vision also pretty good, when you can get to play them. They tend to fail to load several times, before finally loading and allowing playback. But of a issue of you do actually have an intruder. I like that you can choose the types of camera detection for vehicles, people or motion. I left motion on for a while to check its working correctly and so far so good. The app sends a push notification which is great, but there’s a slight delay so haven’t managed to speak to the postie as yet. Overall, good camera, just the app and pc client software could be better.
Ideal for outdoor use as solar powered and no need for power supply. Built in microphone and siren could be a bit better as siren not very loud and microphone sound pickup not very loud. This is my second outdoor solar powered cam. Using cam in Africa to monitor property. Once the 3G/4G LTE prices go down a bit, will use those instead. Good camera overall

I previously had hard wired CCTV in my last home and wanted CCTV in my new house. The hardwired professionally installed version was a bit too much . After a reasonable bit of research I decided on this wireless option. To be upfront It is not as good as a hard wired system, some delays on motion detection and some speed issues on the replay. That all said would I buy it again – a resounding Yes. I am now considering a fixed position model to cover the rear of the house.
Setup was reasonably straight forward, there are tutorials on youtube if you are not 100% sure of what to do.

So I Bought 2 reolink cameras Both With Solar Panels as they are in areas without Power. So easy to Setup in the app and the Solar panels are keeping the Cameras full and working. It was -5c last night and they still done the Job.
My only slight gripe is frost formed on one of the lenses so didn’t have a full picture. But this is the weather and the camera position is quite Exposed to the elements.
(I recommend wiping the lense with antifog glasses wipe)
The picture is as Clear a Whistle!
You can stream in Low or High def.
I have set up alerts direct to my phone. Which work well.
You can listen in aswell as look
My overall outlook at this Camera is Great. Compared to other cctv which need a harddrive lots of cable etc.
This is the Future!

I bought this camera as I was having a few issues with some neighbours it’s very easy to install although the bracket is quite thin considering the size of the camera. Onscreen screen you have a little cursor that you can move the camera around or you can do it manually. I got the solar panel which actually charges from sun but of course in bad weather that doesn’t really help, it doesn’t charge that well so every now and again have to bring the camera and charge it via an ordinary plug which is not a major issue. it’s got very poor night vision its virtually dark . It doesn’t work at all in night vision but that’s ok because my problems during the day. so I persevered with it. You can record whilst watching an incident I don’t like the way it’s saved you can’t delegate where you wanted the recording to go and that’s a bit irritating really because sometimes it can be hard to find the playback. The quality is very good. You can hear everything very clear during the day. it’s got brilliant Vision. Has a mute option as well so and audio alert. a good camera to have but at night-time it’s just completely black so you can’t really see anything at all
