We bought one of these for our son for gaming. Once set up, my husband decided to try it out and we ended up buying another one for him.
Really happy with the quality, feel, sound, and performance for the money. Nice slot underneath to store the wireless dongle. Not thrilled about having to turn the board over to toggle between bluetooth and non-bluetooth modes. This switch should be on the top, or sides, front, anywhere except underneath.
Just for clarification, blue lighting only, not RGB if that is important to you.
Great keyboard. Wrist rest doesn’t do much so I don’t use it, but great feel and works well
I got this with the intention of making it my gaming keyboard especially on the go because of the wireless capabilities. Only having blue black light doesn’t really matter when you’re gaming anyway. The wireless capabilities plus the Bluetooth capabilities make it wonderful when you’re travelling. I like the 75 percent form factor the most for performance vs space taken up. I put silver switches on it with some silicone keycaps to make it quiet and responsive. I got the royal kludge logo off the removable shroud with non acetone nail polish remover. Make sure if you do it, ITS NON ACETONE otherwise you’ll damage it.
I saw tons of great reviews for this keyboard and would tell anyone and everyone who is used to typing on a 75% layout that you really can’t go wrong with this one. It’s really well-aligned, it’s high quality, the two standard USB-A ports bundled in with great battery life and super bright lighting is excellent. However there are few things to consider. For the past 6 years I’ve been primarily typing on a Lenovo T450 laptop keyboard. These are low-profile I found my hands aching on the RK84 after a few days of use. The CTRL key on the RK84 is also the same size as all of the other keys on the board, which was a huge pain for the way that I type. I ultimately went with a TKL Logitech G915 with brown switches and am actually typing on that right now. I would say that if you’re thinking about getting this and have typed on other mechanical keyboards of standard profile you cannot go wrong with this. Still give it five stars because it’s very, very good, just not for me. If you have large hands, maybe get the bigger version of this or if you’re used to typing on laptops then it might be better for you to check out low profile keyboards. Sure you can’t customize them as much out of the box but it might be a good way to transition towards standard sized mechanical keyboards. Also, it could just be that the way I type is too “stupid” for these boards, but I’m loving my new one, shame that this didn’t work out for me but a great product nonetheless. (I got it with blue switches, yes, they are very, very loud, but very satisfying to press.)
Lights look good in keyboard and inlike the different patterns.
I’ve had this for over a month now and it’s still great. Only issue that has come up is the space bar LED will flicker occasionally on certain lighting presets. I have it set to the one that turns the LEDs off briefly when the keys are pressed and it doesn’t seem to happen anymore.
If the layout looks like it fits what you need and you want something customizable, this is one of the best options out there.
I bought this because it was relatively inexpensive and from all the youtube videos I saw, could be modded to be buttery smooth and quiet.
I was surprised to find when I took this apart to begin modding. It not only had sound dampening foam in the bottom of the case, it also had the foam insert between the PCB and positioning plates! The stabilizers were already lubed up too!
It didn’t need anything except a new set of keycaps. I had to smile as I looked at the foam inserts and what not I purchased to mod this keyboard, only to find it already came that way.
I’d recommend this keeb as about the only thing you need to upgrade is the keycaps and maybe the switches.
I got this to go with my Ipad pro and it works great. I love it. This keyboard feels exaclty like the one for my PC and it makes working on the go so much easier. I tried other regular or thin keyboards made into the case and they just are not the same quality or feel of a mechanical keyboard. I highly recommend this one. It is easy to set up and the battery lasts a long time especially if you turn the LEDs off! This keyboard is very comfortable and responsive.
Good compact design – might be heavier than preferred for some. Sometimes space bar gets accidentally pressed while gaming but could just be me as other people with same board don’t say so. Hot swap too < if you don't know what it means then you don't need it but good to have. 9/10 produc
Got this to review because my Keychron K2 broke. This thing has essentially the best case scenario for connectivity; this thing is essentially a Keychron K2 that trades computer brightness controls for an extra 2.4ghz adapter. When the switch on the back is in “off”, connecting a USB cable to a computer lets this keyboard be used as a wired keyboard. If it is in the “on” position, then B and G corresponds to the Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz connector respectively.
The bluetooth does support SmartPair, so it immediately picked it up on my Windows laptop. The bluetooth connection could be better, I have it placed right next to my laptop and I still get the occasional hiccup with key presses. The 2.4ghz adapter works fine (although like all 2.4ghz adapters it suffers slightly when connected behind an iMac at certain angles).
The extra 2 USB 2 ports are a nice touch, I could actually connect my wireless mice adapter when using this in cabled mode. This usefulness is really only for the cable mode, but I’m not complaining for the extra features. The keys themselves are fine, I’ve never had red switches (only blue and brown), these aren’t too loud, although definitely louder than your typical membrane scissor keyboard. The swappable switches seems to work too, and it does have 4 spare switches included.
The only major complaint I have for this is the lack of a brightness control function shortcut for a laptop display. Instead of that his thing has a bunch of less useful shortcuts such as music, mail, and home instead. The mac layout does work, although there’s no alternative key printing for macOS layouts.
Instead of having a flip stand in the back, you can raise this keyboard up with 2 included magnetic feet. It’s a weird implementation and it definitely isn’t as portable, but it does do the job pretty well.
So overall, its a decent keyboard. As a laptop user the lack of brightness control is slightly annoying, but the overall quality and the key typing experience is pretty good. I was more focused on the connectivity (cable + 2.4ghz + 3 Bluetooth devices) which is excellent. Given recent prices from the Keychron K2 this is a pretty decent alternative.
I am low-profile all day every day if I can. I know that there are fewer switches available in low profile but I love the form factor and comfort of typing on low profile and I hate to use a wrist rest. So glad you can take the top cover off of this keyboard and that’s why I ordered it. These aren’t low profile switches, I plan to swap them for some low profile ones I have on another board right now but even with the regular height switches I can type without a wrist rest. Very clean. The blue looks nice. Extra USB for charging is good for folks who do wired but I’m a wireless person so irrelevant for me. The angle on it is fixed but it’s good, not too high.
This is a great keyboard, prior to getting this I was using a 65% RK keyboard of the same color/lights.
The advantage of a 75% keyboard is that you can fit all the necessary keys into the width of a smaller board such as 65. This keyboard saves space on my desk and the addition of the magnetic feet is nice as I can rise the board without having to flip any hinges or anything on the back. There is a lot of functionality in this board, having two USB passthrough ports is genius, you essentially gain one port in wired mode, i prefer to use the included dongle and charge with the included cord, i usually have 2 open ports without the dongle so, in the situation i am charging/in wired mode i still have 2 open ports. This keyboard also supports 3 bluetooth channels so i can pair it to my laptop so i can type while its charging to the side. The 75% layout is great as you get your function keys and all the important navigation keys are in the layout. On my old board I had printed keycaps, so I moved over all old keys and even added the ones I had from the box i had in storage. The detachable frame is a cool feature makes it easy to clean.
Overall this is a great keyboard, its full of extra and unique features and is worth the upgrade/price over a smaller one.
