Was a present. Came on time. Haven’t heard of any problems.
Excelent product for samsung fone very happy realy good finding my Keys i have put one in the car tracks every place were the car has been on the map.
I use it for flights andit works great to locate my luggage
The battery of the Tag was fully discharged. Had to buy one.
Setup was really straight forward on my Galaxy S22 Ultra, plus you can set up a shortcut to view on your home screen for easy access. Battery is changeable (CR2032)
You can also share a link, so my wife can also see the tracker on her Samsung phone. Just ordered a 2nd one for my car keys. Ringer is loud, so should make them easy to find.
IP rating isn’t high for waterproof (IP53) which is a shame, as if it was higher, I’d like to get one to attach to the underside the saddle on my moutain bike.
Do note you can only use this with a Samsung phone or tablet.
Perfect for us having Samsung Galaxy smartphones, bought to secure to our 4yr old niece when we took her abroad for piece of mind
Brilliant, totally out perfomed the apple Air tags, faster updating and better tracking. Will buy more and use on additional luggage.
Got this for my slim wallet. Tight fit as wallet designed for Airtag. However works perfectly well. Secure fit.
I travelled to Australia and on the last leg of the flight my luggage never made it on. When arriving I checked the smart tag to see it had not arrived, I was able to tell the staff exactly where my luggage was at the previous airport and luckily it was found within a few hours and on the next flight to me. Would highly recommend if you are in the Samsung ecosystem and need a tracker. It works by connecting to other Samsung devices in the area and sharing its location with them which in turn sends you the location.
These are great but one of the 4 is less accurate than the others. I used these for my cases and was pleased with the accuracy of all but one.
Have one on car keys, so can locate if lost and can locate phone if lost in house. Also hidden one in my car, now know where I have parked it and that it’s still there. Would be invaluable if car was stolen.
Bought on offer so excellent value imo.
Got this for a trip to the USA I could track my case the minute I landed in Orlando and it gave great peace of mind to know you case had arrived. Using on my car keys outside of holidays
These worked brilliantly at 3 airports. Was able to track 2 suitcases from Glasgow to Las Vegas. I knew where they were at each point, spotted mainly by other users. Worth every penny to avoid the stress of waiting to see if bags had made the flights.
After losing a case for 3 months before finally turning up, I decided to try this out. Easy to set up. Easy to track your case. Has worked well so far. Flown from Dublin to Naples on its first outing and was able to track the case every time I checked to see where it was. Hopefully it keeps on doing its work, but so far it’s been great!
They fit my regular sized key ring for my house keys and loyalty cards. So far I have not lost my keys but the tracking system works very well. I have been able to view the entire travel history of my keys when I go out and I can even set an alert if I go out of range of them, like forgetting them when I leave. It’s small and pretty thing and soft plastic. You can press the button in the middle and it will make a sound, you have to push a bit hard to press it so you’re not going to do it accidently. Good for the price.
Have one inside your luggage when traveling or inside an expensive parcel. Just watch reviews on youtube about the many applications.
It has a lot of potential.
Must own samsung device with android though. For the purpose if setting it up, registering and tracking.
I replaced my existing similar product with Samsung as I have a Samsung phone. It took my daughter so long to set up, I would have returned it or binned it if I had done it myself. It could not locate my phone from kitchen to hall!!. Cannot comment on battery life as I haven’t used it more than twice. It’s quicker to look foe the phone/keys.
Outside the range of Bluetooth from your phone it works through any other Samsung Galaxy phone that comes within range which makes it great for an urban environment where there are many phones around but not much use in a rural where there are no phones nearby.
Pleased that I knew where my luggage was whilst away
Bought for a long haul flight with two connecting flights. Was able to track bags at all times
Works great as a tracker or key finder but is dependent on Samsung devices for precise tracking which could be a problem out in the wild. If only it worked with more devices it would be 5 star Samsung are a bit shortsighted locking it in to thier ecosystem in my opinion. Easy to setup and works well especially as a key finder etc in conjunction with a Samsung phone.
Bought as a present for my wife who is forever losing (or misplacing) her car keys. Apparently easy to set up and use. No more lost keys. Only one complaint – it ain’t cheap.
I have three Smart Tag Plus devices. Two are absolutely fine. The third runs the battery down in about a day. Will request a replacement when back home.
Easy to set up and works very well. My only gripe is this needs WiFi to function and doesn’t work through Bluetooth. Very handy though.
Using it to test as a bike tracker. So far so good
A great product. The accuracy is excellent, especially the way it uses nearby samsung devices to update itself if it goes out of range.
It works with a Samsung galaxy mobile. So far I had no trouble with it.
I use them on my cats for peace of mind.
Neat size and easy to set up. The “UK” version works fine in Ireland
I was bought these by my family who despair of my constantly misplacing my keys and phone. I can now find my keys with my phone and visa versa. The app even tracked my keys which were at home when we were over 4miles away in woodland so pretty impressive. Easy to install and use. Highly recommended for scatterbrained like me!
I have one on my keyring which has helped on several occasions. I also like the ability to double press and ring my phone when I have managed to misplace it.
EDIT: Just had a day out at Drayton Manor. I always keep one of these in my bag in case I mislay it. Whilst at the park though I gave it to my 9 year old to put in his pocket in case he got lost. As it happens he didn’t but it was very reassuring when he went off with his older siblings to keep an eye on his location whilst I sat out the rides. It was quite a novelty to watch them make progress in the queues. Perfect for this type of scenario.
Purchased 2 tags so we could track our pets. The tags actually worked better than expected. I would only say that the main limitation to these is you have to use a Samsung device to be able to track them which is quite a limitation considering the Android Eco system.
I recently had my motorcycle stolen and bought this as a kind of peace of mind along with other security devices,
Safe to say it tracks well enough for me
Had one in my rucksack and one in the car. Both work great. Even tested when someone else is borrowing my car and it could be used as a theft tracker if hidden well.
So far so good.
I bought these for travelling to the States after reading lots of stories about lost luggage. We have tried them locally in that my wife will take one on her keys and I’ll see how well the sig al picks up to pin point her location. They’ve been pretty good so far.
Got these on an amazon daily deal for the two pack. I will update after travelling to review how they did in transatlantic luggage!
It’s already proved it’s worth as I’ve found my keys twice with it already… but that probably says more about my clumsiness! Great product!
Knowing the pain with increased levels of lost luggage I knew I needed a luggage tag. Given I dont have an iphone the airtag was out of option. After some research I concluded that it needed to be from a brand with lots or phones around as it needs to use the gps from that brand around to locate the tag. Ive tried a couple of times and could comfirm the luggage was inside the flight before take off. If you have a samsung this is the best choice (I think). It does need to be a samsung that can use the smarthings app.
This little tracker helped me to locate my lost luggage in Germany. I was an hour away from it but could see its precise location which helped me to show airport staff where it was. Without it I would have lost everything! I can’t praise it enough. I bought 3 more for the rest of my family.
You probably don’t think you need them until you loose something and wish you had these. They do come handy and should be a must for your key rings and maybe kids bags. Only bought these when I lost my car key, was bit late then but at over 1000 for a new key, then you realise. These have come handy few times already when I left keys somewhere in the garden a had no idea where they were. Then came handy the location function it it worked wonders.
I use it to locate my bundle of keys and to notify me if i drop them and it hasnt let me dow
Easy to setup and link with app, apparently far more regular updates to location than competitors, no accessories required to attach or protect them. Bulky though, but the only product with a button to locate phone.
These are great, i was sceptical at first. They use other Samsung devices nearby to keep you informed of location. Kept my bags close by even when you are halfway around the world.
Once we got the hang of it nd used the smart things app this works so well. I have it on the car keys of my dad who suffers dementia so I can keep an eye on him in case of emergency
I do love my 3 samsung tags, they work incredibly well and their consumer setup interface is nearly flawless, but come on guys…Either choose no battery included, or add the temporary 1p plastic sheilding between the battery and contact. Saves us consumers having to nip to the shop inbetween receiving our device and setup.
Excellent little device, we use ours for our wireless car keys as they always seem to wander especially with a toddler in the house. Battery still going strong since January and it’s easy to link up with your Android phone to either track it on a map or on signal strength or making beeping noises. Works the other way too using Bluetooth to find your phone.
Use for tracking your car, bag wallet etc. Works within Bluetooth range of your own device AND most importantly other Samsung devices. I tested the smart tag. By leaving it in my partners bag. Its location was reported by another samsung phone and then the final location fine tuned with signal strength and finally audible sound from the tag. Recommended for stalkers….
I have subsequently bought another couple for the car and for future travels/baggage.
Brought this as a spare tracker device if something was to happen to the one wired in to a 12v battery.
Works rather well as long as you don’t live in the middle of no where this is because it relays on the Samsung find me service and low power Bluetooth to keep its self known on the location so if you don’t get any phones near it the device will not update on the find me app.
The tag is nice and small though and easy to hide or attach to a key chain.
Handy to have, and easy to use.
Attach to anything you could lose, and you are sorted.
With TILE it took about 5 minutes to connect to my phone when trying to locate missing keys in my house, Samsung Tag takes no more than around 5 seconds every time.
Coupled with the fact that this uses other people’s android devices to locate rather than the less populated TILE community means you’ll locate your lost items much faster. Stick this in the car as a less expensive GPS tracker.
I was going out – went to the car loaded stuff in the back hatch then drove off.
I hit the phone button on my console only to find that it wasn’t connecting. So I double tapped the button on this and nothing.
Immediately turned around (luckily wasn’t too far away) and went home to find as I got closer to my house the tag started beeping.
The phone was on the ground, it had slipped out of my coat which I put in the back.
Cons:
From what I can see is the battery life. The first battery (it came with ) didn’t last long at all (OK so we can sometimes expect that as no one knows how long that has been in there or what quality they use to save money.
I’ve since replaced that and this one has lasted longer but looking now Smarthings shows about 60 % left.
I would have hoped it was better than that but I got is cheap so it was worth trying out and it’s not entirely useless.
Bought to put on my dad’s keyring as he has dementia so might need to track him if he gets lost. Pings off close samsungs. works well. We haven’t had to test it to find him yet but I’m impressed for the price.
First of all let me make it clear that if you have a phone that isn’t a Samsung, or even a Samsung that is running android 7 or below. This smart tag straight up isn’t going to work for you.
However if you have a newish Samsung then here is what you an expect. The Tag is a great little item for tracking lost things around the house or in a small area, reliably. It has a mini speaker that van produce a decent amount of noise for easily tracking down the tag. If it a very loud area I believe it would make it very hard to find.
The navigation on the Smartthings app, which you need to actually use the tag. Is alright, I feel like on the latest Samsung phones it works great and smooth no problem. But when you get to slightly older phones, from experience s9 or below. You’re going to have a sluggish response to navigating around the app.
So on the app you can set up the tag to find device which basically means if you click the button on the tag a certain way, for example long press the button, it will ring your phone which is great for the situations where you have your keys but lost your phone for example. You can also set up control devices which basically allows you, if you have set up your smart home bulbs, plugs ect to the smartthings app, to control said devices with the touch of a button. This feature for me was the most useful, I can press the button on my keys to turn on the fan in my room before I get home.
The this also a section in the smartthings app that basically allows you to track your tag. Sounds great on paper, most people assume when buying this item that this functionality is going to work out the gate. If you go back to the second paragraph and you meet the credentials then you will have the feature but for everyone else you will not. The Tag feeds back its location data to the app when it is close proximity to OTHER SAMSUNG PHONES. You could put the tag in your luggage but just know that if it does get lost of none of the people who are handling your case have a Samsung phone. Then you aren’t going to see where it is. Annoying for sure but Samsung still hold a pretty big margin of the market so its always a risk.
There is also a feature like geo tracking but this can only be used on the Tag+ version. Haven’t got one myself but would just make things a bit easier.
Sum it all up, if you are just going to throw this tag on your keys or behind your wallet I believe you won’t have much trouble finding it in a quick pinch. If however you are planning to use this tag to potentially track down your stolen bike. Then you are risking a chance that it may work or it may not work at all.
Only just out of the box and the battery was insufficient to perform an initial firmware update. As I regularly use CR2032 cells, I had a new one to hand. If you have a GALAXY phone with a UWB sensor, then it this tag should give the best location accuracy, I have only a base S20, so rely on the sound to find my keys. Works senseless with Samsung Smart Things.
Really like the size and the range of functions. And the built in loop to attach to a keyring was a plus over the Apple equivalent.
The only problem was that the battery needed to be replaced after less than a week. Replacing the battery was easy, and was able to get a pack of spares from a variety of shops, but would have been nice for it to have lasted longer out of the box.
Apart from that one minor annoyance, I would highly recommend the overall product.
We now have 3 of these. My wife recently lost her car keys – which would have cost around 400 to replace! – but we located them within minutes thanks to the fact that I put one of these tags on each of our keys.
Obviously these are not GPS trackers – so you have to set your expectations accordingly – but for the price and the surprising accuracy of reporting of the location when I check/test them randomly, they are a great option and, as stated above, have more than paid for themselves already!
Definitely recommended.
There is a bit of a story that prompted me to write this review. I had been carrying one of these in my pocket for weeks, intended to attach it to my bicycle (but never remembering to do so). A few days ago, I noticed it missing. I don’t know how long it had been missing, but I figured it was around the house somewhere. Thing is, the “nearby search” (which uses Bluetooth) couldn’t find it in the house. So I set it to notify when it was next seen. A few minutes later, it was spotted, apparently 5 minutes walk away from my house. I figured that couldn’t be right and ignored it. I tried the same thing the following day and got the same result. So I walked to the spot where it was reported and turned on “nearby search” and – sure enough – the missing tag was reported to be nearby. Then I turned on the audible alarm and could hear it. Within two minutes, I found it lying in a grass verge where I would never have found it. It must have fallen out of my pocket some time before. The location history tells me that I lost it around a week ago. We have had some nasty weather (heavy rain, cold nights) since then but it survived it all and works well.
They aren’t as elegant-looking as the Apple equivalent, but they do seem to work every bit as well. Unlike the Tile, you don’t need to pay a monthly fee to have location history (although you do need to have a Samsung phone to track them).
I like the SmartThings integration. If used on a key ring normally kept with you it is an easy click to turn on a specific regularly used function such as turning on a light, or a Samsung TV. A double click will ring your phone if nearby. Also has a fairly loud speaker which can be activated from the phone if the tag and keys go missing.
Bluetooth tracking is a little weird in that it seems to follow the associated phone for quite a distance (more than bluetooth range) even if the tag and item was left at home; so this can give false ‘last detected’ readings in the app.
Also there is quite a delay to the app reporting the bluetooth distance, so probably not that useful for moving targets such as on a pet; although the speaker may help if close enough to be heard.
Note the difference between Tag and Tag+ products. The Tag+ uses different technology and only works with the very latest phones.
These do work depending where they are used. I have one on my keys, and one hid one in my car. When my phone is near them it uses bluetooth to find the tags, when out of range they rely on other samsung phones passing nearby to find them for you, and you can be alerted when they are eventually discovered. Tested in my car, leaving it in various car parks, on average detected within 20 to 30 mins of leaving it there, sometimes quicker as it depends how built up the area is and how many samsung devices are nearby. If you live out in the sticks with no one around they wont be detected unless in bluetooth range. They are not a real time gps tracker, which would cost a lot more and use much more power. The battery in these tags lasts about a year, which can then be replaced. A simple inexpensive little tracker similar to apple airtags. Will order more in the future.
After purchasing this I didn’t realise its going to work so well. It does everything that is mentioned in the description. The quality of the device is very nice, I like the colours of the devices.
Sometimes I’ve had issues locating another device on my phone and the smart tag actually picks up the location before anything! So Google maps really need to up their game! It works really well. It’s accurate and allows us to leave our items with smart tag where ever. The alarm noise is good as we have tested this.
Since we purchased it we haven’t had to change the battery so its quite long lasting I presume!
Really like these. Effectively cheap tracker for car and other valuables if they go walkabouts.
Would be 5 stars but samsung inability to allow more than one samsung account to view the trackers location is disappointing so cannot put this on my other half’s account incase I lose my phone for example. I don’t want to sign my samsung account in to her device and enable an auto sync of her stuff and mine
Usage is pretty basic in terms of a device
There is a button on the top that can be configured to ring the device its linked too or whatever else you fancy like notify someone or turn on a light etc, or you can long press it to do something else of your choice.
The noise this device gives off when trying to locate it is loud enough for you to hear it. No issues there.
The tag is also VERY light, there really isnt much too it, think the weight of a small wireless ear bud.
Regards battery life, I cant really say as ive only had since the S21 release. It tells me it has “Sufficient” battery life as of now with a mostly full battery icon.
I do honestly believe its overpriced for what it is, but its a good addition to your smart setup.
I purchased this device in addition to the one Samsung gave me for my wife, just incase she loses her keys (most of us have been there)
Worth a buy…..kinda
In reality, THIS version is just a bluetooth (BLE) device with all the limitations that that implies. Yes – it can find be attached to your keys and then found from your phone. The phone can also be found using the button – but only if the two are within bluetooth range of each other. (And only if the phone was made by Samsung, of course. 🙂
Samsung’s claim that a lost item might be found “in the field” if it is located by another user’s device could not be tested, but, in truth, the whole principle means that the “lost” button is a hostage to fortune until someone passes close by it.
On the other hand… my primary use for this device is as a trigger controller for Smartthings routines – typically to set up certain smart home conditions on leaving my premises, and when arriving back. Because the button is quite small and light, it works very well in this use case, and has proven 100% reliable while doing so.
In summary, I quite like the little button for itself. But it is an expensive way of triggering smart home events, and (of course) it depends on the Smartthings ecosystem for any of its more useful functions.
