This watch is perfect for my refereeing as I need this for counting down from 45 minutes with an alarm at the end of the time, I have been so pleased with this that I have gone onto to buy a further two as I wear two on a match day so thought it best to have a back up.
After the initial setup which takes a while (you have to screw in the sensors and assign clubs in the app), all you need to do is turn the watch on when you get to the course and follow the prompts. Once the GPS is connected, play your round. All you have to do during the round is click a button on the watch for the number of putts you took after you have holed out on each hole. Even if you forget, you can edit the round later when you get home to add the putts you forgot. You do need your phone in your pocket while you play, which is not a problem for most players.
The accuracy is pretty good. You’ll need to add penalty strokes when you edit your round because the watch can’t know you hit it in the water. If you’re playing by yourself and playing more than one ball, it does get confused. Again, keep your own score and edit later.
When you’re done and back home, you’ll need to sync the round with your phone. Once that’s done, you can go on your PC or laptop and edit the round. You can add or delete shots as necessary (be honest!), and then you can see your stats. This device uses “strokes gained” as its baseline stat. You can change the type of golfer you are comparing yourself to from “tour player” down to “15 handicapper.” I was astonished the first time I looked at my stats because I gained strokes in areas I thought I sucked at. Likewise, I sucked where I thought I’m normally solid. This gives you the info you need to target weak spots in your game in practice, which will lower your handicap significantly.
I highly recommend this device for anyone trying to get better at golf.
Das GPS Modul funktioniert auf unserem Platz 1A. Die Tags und andere Pltze konnte ich bisher wegen des Wetters noch nicht teste
Good distance reading. Finding it mostly easy to transfer info to my compute
I like the tags that allow you to record your stats if needed. It’s accurate and easy to use. I understand why the strap is designed the way it is but I’m not a fan because it comes undone too easily.
The watch band sucks!!! Was gonna return, but will try to get new band for i
Brought this on a few recommendations from you tube golfers and I can easily say I am not disappointed. It tracks my clubs great and shows accurate GPS, the stats within the app are amazing and have helped my game no end. You do have to edit a few shots within a round at the end but its nothing complicated. Highly recommend this for any golfer that wants to improve their game.
The product easy to use and certainly helps with range finding of the hole also very good feedback of the whole round afte
My V2 worked great for several years and I decided to upgrade to the V3, this model is great, better than I had anticipated.
Awesome product, would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get accurate distance on the course and the stats will certainly help you improve your game.
I have used this for two rounds and not once has it failed to pick up a shot. It’s very accurate in terms of distances and gave me confidence during my rounds to pick the right club.
I have had to edit a few pin positions and the placement of one or two shots bit this didn’t take long and was no trouble to do, it also allowed me to assess my round and positional play.
The sensors for each club are clearly marked and not difficult to attach and has been a god send for tracking my misses, distances and accuracy with differing clubs allowing me to make better choices on course.
If you are thinking of buying this, don’t think, just do it.
The only downsides are the strap is opposite to a normal watch, this is a minor inconvenience and the charging cable could be longe
I’ve normally bought Garmin gps products for my golf watches, but decided it was time for a change.
This watch is brilliant I put the tags into the end of the corresponding club, registered on the app and away I went. The watch picks up the course very quickly, it recognises your club choice quickly and it recognises when you’re on the green quickly. You have to register the number of putts manually by pressing the corresponding button, but that’s it. After you finish your round and pressed the finish round button, the results are ready to view immediately on the app on your phone. After several rounds, It then works out your club distance for each club. It really is a brilliant piece of kit.
The watch is easy to use you don’t need to be a IT consultant.
But the app is a different story. Editing the round I found hard to use. I have had the watch for 4 rounds now and 4 attempts to edited the rounds through the app to a 100% accuracy have failed.
It just wore me down very frustrating.
But I still enjoy using the watch as a GPS and Tags, they do work, not like Golfpad which I had and didn’t work.
I really like the watch, very accurate with the gps in the cart. The only thing is when you putt you have to remember to add it and mark the pin. It keeps track of normal shots very good, but if you hit two times to get out of the bunker it will not register two shots. This is my fault and not the watches. I only have a few rounds on it but so far satisfied with it.
Using the Shot Scope delivers a lot of information about your game, however, not all parameters are explained nor how to use them to improve.
Bought this as my old Bushnell watch could only be updated using Windows/Mac. I have neither. This watch updates via my Android phone and does so quickly and easily.
Initial set up with club tags is easy and intuitive (there are very good instructions supplied anyway).
On the course the yardages and hazards are very clear and accurate (checked with colleagues’ different branded watches etc). Because of the tags and tracking facility I found I had to change my shot routine slightly to ensure the watch picked up the club I was using at that point. Not a big deal.
The only slight problem when one first uses this system is to remember to input putts at the hole when putting out. It’s not disastrous if you forget as it can be rectified when editing the round later, either on one’s phone or preferably on PC or laptop. After about 10 rounds this issue is becoming less of an obstacle.
The end result is a mass of data that details one’s strengths and weaknesses thus enabling a more optimal plan to improve one’s scores overall.
I play 3 times per week and the watch lasts 2 rounds (just over 7 hours) on a charge. Charging is quick anyway via a USB. Updating existing courses and “subscribing” to new courses is easy and fast via the phone’s bluetooth connection (which itself is fault-free unlike some bluetooth systems).
All in all I’ve found this to be an excellent and reasonably priced solution to determining course layout and yardages and the tracking facility is a very useful tool if one wishes to improve one’s game.
As a newcomer to the game if golf the SS has helped me considerably. Recording the length of my shots, particularly my driving has really helped me. Still trying to get my head around recording my putting shots but that’s me rather than the equipment! Overall it’s adding an improvement to my game.
I have used the Shotscope V3 golf watch for the past several golf games. I have the GPS to be very accurate and easy to use. Tracking which club I use is also good. It picks up my club and each stroke that I take. My only complaint is that the watch does not allow you to check your score during any point of the game. You have to download the information into a device to extract all the information. I checked all the FAQs and that’s the conclusion I came to. However, after one downloads your round there is more information than a recreational golfer might need. It would be very useful for golfers who want to measure each aspect of their game.
So far I love how easy the product is to use, great value for money. The app is quite basic but has pretty much everything you need to analyse club shot distance, accuracy is surprisingly good.. I wasn’t sure how good this would but very impressed so far. Product works very well on the course but don’t be dissapointed with this not working on a driving range it picks up the club your using but no data, I would not see this as a negative as with range balls and hitting off mats this is not a true reflection on actual shot distances, so in summary the data I have collected so far is pretty accurate. Chipping putting shot accuracy short shots, long shots very happy thanlyou
I have been using for some time now. Easy to use and distances accurate. The hardest bit was forming a habit, by this I mean as a beginner I have quite a few penalities in a round and needed to remember to manually enter them in the watch to ensure that the score was accurate. Also, make sure you wear on the correct wrist so that the watch detects the sensors.
Editing the watch isn’t straight forward and often need to adjust for the putter and not too convinced about the distances when using the same club concurrently.
If you like to see all the stats it’s a great watch and app; if not I’d go for something a bit simpler but generally looking at other watches it’s good value watch.
The GPS yardages have been pretty accurate, though I do rely on my rangefinder for an accurate read on how far the flagstick is. I haven’t used the hazards feature much as some on my course (water) aren’t on there.
As for the stats, they’re only as good as the accuracy of the shot location. That’s why post-round editing is a must, to make sure all shots are recorded accurately.
Being able to benchmark your Strokes Gained against various handicap levels is huge (Tour Pro, 0, 5, 10…). This shows you where you’re losing strokes against that benchmark and what you need to work on. It’s not necessarily hitting a bucket of drivers. It may be approach play or putting. And is it putting inside 10 feet or the 20-30 footers.
No subscriptions or added costs once you’ve bought the watch.
If I had it to do over again, I would buy this watch again.
Finnicky to edit, but very accurate, you need to get used to it, and don’t forget to collect the Pi
Stores lots of helpful stats on the app/desktop.
Accurate mostly.
Great produc
Great product, early days but as I use it more the data will become more accurate
– The GPS aspect isn’t as good as other GPS watches, I’ve found it can be slow to update distance. For example, I’ll get to my ball, look at my watch for distance, grab my club and go through my routine only to hit the ball 10 yards too long, then I look at my watch again and it’s updated the distance. This doesn’t always happen maybe 1-2x every other round but it’s frustrating when it happens.
– It does a good job of tracking your shots and not needing to have my phone in my pocket or buy another device (like arccos link) is very nice. I wish the interface of editing shots was a little more intuitive, it takes a few rounds when doing post round editing to get the hang of it.
– Battery life I’ve found is about 2.5 rounds at 4.5 hours.
Very accurate yardages to all greens and hazards. You need to do one practice swing for it to pick up what club you’re using and is extremely reliable at getting it right. If you switch clubs last minute it might occasionally record the wrong one but the vast majority are perfect. You don’t notice it on your wrist at all while playing – super light and comfortable.
The analysis post-round is fantastic. Brilliant at tracking individual club performance, approach success, fairway success, where different parts of your game are compared to other handicaps etc. The stats on both app and web portal are honestly brilliant and very easy to use.
Could not recommend this enough – fantastic big of kit!
I just don’t seem to have received the sensors for; my 3iron and for my g20 ping. I would appreciate if I can have the two, missing sensors please?
superb and easy to use, very very accurate but totally let down with the score function. No way to enter your scores manually, V3 supposedly keeps track, all you do is enter how many puts you took (which takes time as you have to remember to do on each hole) I have used 8 times now and it is not even close with my score, sometimes as much as 10 strokes off. there is a function to enter your shots manually but who remembers every shot they have taken !!! and it is quite complicated doing this even if you do remember.
I would have given 5 stars but the scoring really really let’s it dow
Gives good a good yardage reading to hazards and pin. I like the club distance Stats, that is helping me with club choice already.
Battery excellent with a charge easily coping with 2 rounds and more.
Early days but pleased so far.
After using the watch more than 5 times I’ve actually seen that my average score has started coming down. This is due to seeing more of an average of how far my shots have been going allowing my course management to be alot better! Would highly recommend it too anyone!!
Very accurate and comfortable the only extra thing I would like to see is a function for when you chip i
Have been using the v3 for a few months now. Honesty can say I love it. Very easy to use, the battery life lasts a good time to! So good for reviewing your stats post round to. Highly recommend.
Have used this watch a few times now for both tracking and gps. The tracking is very intuitive and is pretty accurate. Given the option on the app to add/remove shots if needs be.
Particularly cool feature is the performance average. This uses some algorithms to remove very short shots such as a punchy 5/7i out of some trees from your averages and give you a more accurate average for each club.
Battery is capable of tracking 2 rounds on one charge. Is quick to charge to full from nearly empty.
I have found the GPS to be very accurate for both the greens and obstacles across the 3 courses that I’ve played with it.
Would recommend this watch to player of any level.
Very pleased with watch, it is easy to use and provides great feedback. Not the easiest to navigate for adding a penalty shot during the round, but early days.
Highly recommend.
Not only is a great distance watch but the club sensors and supporting free app, give you great detail on how your game is doing. You can save all rounds into app and use club, shot, distance, putt analysis to see where you are going right/wrong
Great buy and the sensors are easy to fit and come free with watch
It’s giving me all the information I need. Not disappointed.
Sure it takes a few minutes to lock onto its GPS location, and Yes, each round needs double-checked and sometimes edited, but it’s worth it. The stats it produces clearly shows which part(s) of your game needs the most attention and practice.
It’s great on-course too – the distances to Front, Middle and Back of the greens; to the Front and To Clear hazards – really helps club selection. And your accumulating stats give you greater insight into how far you actually hit each club and therefore club selection.
After the round, every shot (club and distance) is overlaid on a satellite image of each hole. I love it and can’t recommend it highly enough.
I dithered over whether to purchase to replace my existing Garmin Approach, but I did. What a great decision. A wonderful piece of technology. As previous reviewers have stated, you must get in the habit of entering your putts, but never the less, I found it to be stunning information when downloading it and analysing your round through the dashboard. The setting up your clubs to the app. is quite straightforward and installing the RFID tags easy. I am so impressed with this watch, It is intuitive, easy to see the screen and use. I am looking forward to accruing some round to be able to extrapolate the data to improve my golf. I highly recommend it.
Excellent as a GPS. Shot recording very good of the tee, but seems to miss a few shots around the greens.
I suspect the shot tracking is better suited to low and mid-range handicap players as opposed to high handicapers like myself.
Will update after more rounds if needed. First impressions are good. Very easy to set up. Took a good few goes to pair with my phone on set up, ut pretty smooth after. There a bit of fiddling at times post round then. Good few shots not registered and having to figure out actual pin locations and what to do with lost balls. Distance yardage seemed spot on always, love the detail with the hazards too. Fantastic technology overall. Need to remember to collect the pin and enter the putts, but once I make it habit that’ll be smooth too. Love the amount of post editing possible. I’d like to be able to enter a hole as a picked up ball post round though.
I faffed around deciding whether or not to get the v3 primarily due to reports about how much has to be edited after a round
I have not found this to be the case. The only errors I have picked up seem to in respect of fairway bunkers where accuracy of the gps may not pick-up that one has visited a fairway bunker
The only other problem is operator error when I forget to enter number of putts on the green
So all round very happy. Easy to use/good value/gps finds course quickly/love performance stats
Recommended
Well impressed with this watch. I especially like the club tracking inserts and analysis of shots played.
Finds the course fairly quickly is accurate on the course.Does miss the odd shot and does need you to try a few times to move the round from watch to app once worked out its fairly simple. It does give you lots of very useful data and should help improve your scoring
Brilliant. Good post match data once you realise, connect to phone to download info from watch. Edit is by logging into shotscope website on iPad or laptop. Interesting data. Would recommend.
It’s very accurate. Used it on four occasions. The only issue I found was your practice swing it counted it.
But overall it’s learnt me the distance between each club
My first golf piece of kit and love it. Distances are spot on and it’s great to play with. The performance stats are OK, but every single round needs to be amended unfortunately. Still very good though.
Round on Friday was smooth. Picked up courses with no problem. Picked up every shot no problem. Penalties easy to add. Still figuring out the putting in manual mode as I quite often don’t have correct number of putts (likely my fault and not the watch).
Just be careful to always tag your watch before each shot. Forgot a few times and didn’t get club specific data even though the count of strokes was correct.
Original:
Nice and simple display and easy to use the watch. Very comfortable and sleek. Love how it tracks shots and outputs all the data I could ever want to my phone easily.
But getting courses to load properly has been a struggle. 2 holes on one round were not mapped correctly at all. Couldn’t even pick the right course today. There are 2 sets of 18 at my centre and kept picking the other without ability to cycle to the correct one. Shot scope has bwen great in trying to resolve issues. We worked together to remap the courses and with a new update for me to download, all should be well now. Will update if have same problems later on but seems ok now
Great battery life. Easily get in 36 holes in a day.
Lots of data from tracking clubs
Very accurate when it finds the correct course (putting can be hit or miss so I usually keep in manual mode).
Can add penalties during round.
Can edit round after the fact (missed shots, penalties, etc)
Putter tag isn’t universal. If you don’t have hole in grip to screw in, you’ll need to trim and glue but supposedly you can buy seperate accessories for it now and new kits will include both types later on.
Putting locations not perfect but pretty good. May require some post round editing if you care that much.
Slow to connect first time you use the watch at a new course. After the first time, all subsequent rounds are quick to load at the same course. Turn on watch when you get to course and it will be ready when you’re nearing the tee box.
Way cheaper than getting Arcos and another golf watch. Hoping they fix some flaws and it will be grea
Overall though is a great watch looks nice on the wrist highly accurate on course (do give it a few seconds to adjust distance fully when you reach your ball though) picks up clubs and distances well and the app gives a wealth of information to help improve your overall game
So far the unit is working prefect very simple to use. Battery life was good used about 25% for one round. Check yardage to my scope and it was one to two yards off not a big deal.Dashboard was simple to use. Editing was straightforward.Very easy to sync up to phone.
Only issue I found, the watch take a bit of time to locate course(5min)I will check it again and update if any change
I would recommend this uni
Very Good. Data very accurate. All clubs aligned. Distance & hazards very worth while knowing. Battery life good for full two 18 hole rounds.
Great for seeing stats at the end of your round, takes a bit of time to get used to ie remember the hole out button once putted. I would recommend this to anyone who wants distance accuracy and shot stats.
With a couple of blips, this watch is 1st class. So glad I invested in i
A slight improvement could be to make the distances to hazards clearer. Although all the information is there it is not always obviously which hazard it is referring to. Also, it can take some time to find the course, so start it up as you walk to the first tee.
Gives me everything I need from a golf gps watch including analysis of how I have played. Have had v2 and now v3 watch, superb product at a realistic price. The support you receive is also second to none if you have to contact them.
Very happy I decided to go for the Shot Scope V3 over the more expensive garmin options. Excellent GPS and I love being able to look at the stats on my game afterwards. Very simple and easy to use – if you follow the instructions! Updated my home course with the customer support team – the best customer support team I have ever experienced!!! Well done Shot Scope.
As you’d expect with modern technology the GPS function on this watch is faultless – easily locking onto a signal within seconds and automatically updating as you navigate around the course – even if that is side to side !!
If GPS is your thing above all else then I’d plump for the G3 version which does not have tracking built in.
So for the main I’m going to concentrate on the tracking function and outline some of my observations.
Fitting the ‘tags’ to the clubs is a simple process – you the need to use the Shot Scope website or app to ‘marry’ the tags to your specific clubs in the ‘My Bag’ page.
Once at the course, switch on the watch and make sure you highlight the correct course, and off you go.
The watch strap has a built in sensor that ‘pairs with’ the tag, therefore registering the shot and subsequent tracking data – all done automatically.
Once on the green, the watch display automatically changes to the ‘Collect Pin’ function and you tell the watch how much putts you needed to hole out. On finishing your game, you confirm on the watch and then ‘sync’ the data into the Shot Scope app. – then the fun begins!
Editing your round is crucial to record as accurate data as possible – this is the point that may see some users get fed up very quickly – as you need to recall your round in detail in case there has been some errors within the data that the watch recorded – so far I’m OK with it, but it may still be the novelty factor the now.
Some issues I’ve found that you need to be mindful of:-
As mentioned above, the watch automatically pairs with a club when the tag gets close enough to the strap – therefore it may ‘map’ the wrong location for your shot – eg clubs at greenside and registers your putter (therefore thinking your ball is there too).
Accurately recording distances on the green are something also to be mindful of – I now make a point to walking to my ball on the green and registering the putter as the club in use prior to marking ball/lining up my shot.
If you play consecutive shots with the same club – it has no way of knowing that until you edit post round
As an individual you’ll work out the best way round the above issues to best suit.
Having read up on similar products, there appears to be flaws with most on the market at the moment, and at time of writing I’m prepared to persevere with this one
Happy to answer any feedback/comments you may have.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy your golf!
