Came in a plain sack which was fine I don’t need fancy boxes with built in dispensers etc.
Bought this to replace my stock which I’d just exhausted so don’t know how quick it’ll germinate ye

Started using this for oversewing in spring and autumn and the grass is such a lovely fresh green and quite fine. This year I have used it to create a new lawn in a different place and the growth rate was incredibly fast and even.
After spreading, I gently rake it in to stop birds feating on the bounty and it worked a treat.
    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWould definitely recommend these grass seeds just over 21 days i have a nice lawn coming through. It did take around 14days to germinate, but it is now coming though thick and fast even if it does look as though its patchy in a couple areas. I ordered a big enough bag to overseed. Fortunately birds havent eaten all the seeds. Somehow a little string has detered my dog

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with the results so far, would recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used this on freshly tilled soil as a patch in job on my lawn

The seeds have a pretty solid feel to them.. I know that is indicative of nothing, it was just psychologically reassuring

After sowing these and gently working them through the soil, after a week or so I had a nice downy growth on most of the patches
Some areas took longer to really bed in but that’s more to do with my soil than the seeds

Now you can really tell where I planted these as they grow faster than the rest of the lawn and have a very tough and resilient feel to the shoots
They have a lovely consistent and vibrant green colour and frankly next year I’m tempted to completely till over the entire lawn and reseed with just this varia

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersAfter trying approximately 10 different grass seed brands, I can confidently say that Sprogs & Dogs Ultra Hardwearing Grass Seed by Lawn UK is an absolute gem. It has exceeded all my expectations and has become my go-to choice for achieving a lush and resilient lawn that can withstand the wear and tear of family life.

First and foremost, the durability of this grass seed is exceptional. With kids and pets constantly playing in the garden, I needed a seed that could handle heavy foot traffic without losing its vibrancy. Sprogs & Dogs Ultra Hardwearing Grass Seed has proven to be the perfect solution. The grass grows strong and dense, withstanding the constant running, jumping, and general playtime activities of my children and furry friends.

The speed at which this grass seed grows is also worth applauding. Within a remarkably short time, I witnessed the transformation of my patchy lawn into a lush carpet of green. It was impressive to see how quickly the seed germinated and filled in the bare spots, resulting in a uniform and attractive lawn.

What sets this grass seed apart is its adaptability to various weather conditions. Whether it’s scorching summer heat, heavy rainfall, or cold winter temperatures, Sprogs & Dogs Ultra Hardwearing Grass Seed remains resilient and maintains its vibrant colour. It has proven to be extremely hardwearing and resistant to drought, which is a huge relief, knowing that my lawn can withstand the challenges of different seasons.

Another advantage of this grass seed is its low maintenance nature. Once established, it requires minimal effort to keep it looking great. Mowing becomes a breeze, and the grass maintains its neat appearance even with regular use.

Furthermore, the 500g packaging size is convenient and provides sufficient coverage for my family lawn. The seed is easy to spread evenly, ensuring a consistent growth pattern and avoiding any patchiness.

In conclusion, Sprogs & Dogs Ultra Hardwearing Grass Seed by Lawn UK has truly impressed me with its exceptional durability, fast growth, and ability to withstand the demands of family life. It has outperformed every other grass seed brand I’ve tried. If you’re looking for a reliable, low-maintenance seed that will provide you with a beautiful and resilient lawn for your children and pets, look no further. This 5-star gem will exceed your expectations.

We have used this to seed and over-seed our lawn and it has been great. It’s hard wearing with pets and very easy to grow as long as you plant at the right time of year.

Adding some good lawn sand really encourages this to come through quickly and thickly

    Great thick coverage

Following the recent heatwave in the UK, no rain and hosepipe ban, let’s just say we had hay like grass in our garden, some patches nothing at all! Sprinkle this magic along with fertiliser, our garden is lush GREEN GREEN GREEN and took approximately 2weeks (if that)! BIG THUMBS UP

After a dry summer and some work in the garden, my lawn got trashed, so I decided to start again and re-seed it. I’ve never done this before, but I just followed the simple instructions.

I spread the seed out mid September so it was a bit late in the season to be sowing grass seed, but with plenty of watering it eventually got going. I reckon if it was a month or two earlier the results would have been seen in half the time. My seed took about 7 days to start to get going properly and now after 14 days I have a reasonably even spread. I hope to have a full healthy lawn a month after first sowing.

The grass has a nice fine blade to it which is very attractive. Time will tell if it is a practical variety and lasts well. For the money though I think it’s well worth it. I bought a 2KG bag for my lawn. I would have been happy to have got double that though, but this is my first experience.

    Very happy with the results

This stuff is great. After trying several different types of grass seed, finally I have found one that works quickly. The good weather at the moment (June/July 2022) is obviously helping, but this stuff grows really well.

Just make sure you put some decent top soil down on top when you sow them and water regularly and you will have fantastic strong green blades within 3 weeks.

Very happy indeed. I won’t be using any other types when I need some more.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLast year I bought another grass seed from here I do not recommend, and have left a review for it.

Pic one is what I was left with after winter this year, the Speedy seed i used last was garbage.
then a crane fly infestation that was what i was left with in spring.
Nemasys, wet towels, patience and rid of all the crane fly grubs,

Bought 2kg of this seed and prepped the soil and spread, topped with top soil and netted (we have a wood pidgeon issue)

2 weeks later i was cutting it, pics are of approx 4 weeks later, 3 cuts, first tight trim was the weekend just gone.

Im well happy with the results of this seed and would highly recommend.

I can’t actually believe how well this worked! How I wish I had remembered to take a before picture. Our garden was an absolute mud pit after winter with the dogs. We spread the seed and did a very thin layer of top soil and compost. We have been so lucky with the weather, it’s been on and off with rain and sun for a solid 2 weeks everyday.
I now actually have a lawn ready for the kids to play on for summer!
Will be buying again as I know I will need to cover some patches where I weed over the years. 10/10 though!

Update 09/22 – Months later and the grass is long, thick, green and lush. During the hot weather during the Summer, it remained just the same.
I am so impressed with this product. It grows so quickly and the grass is of a good quality.
I didn’t pay too much attention to sowing it, other than the obvious of removing stones, raking and sprinkling of the seed. I then covered it lightly with a good quality top soil, pressed the soil down and left. I watered every 3 days when there was no rain.
I now have thick lush soft green springy grass that has grown so quickly.
I am impressed too by the fact it is safe to use around pets, and also the birds never touched the seed.
    Highly recommended!

The seed was evenly laid covered with some thin layer of top soil, watered for just over a week and started to see growth but is very patchy, looks great with what has grown. After two weeks under apple tree it has developed but when cut looks patchy requires more seed perhaps half of the seed is duff this could be down to storage at warehouse or just seed rotting when watered on my part. I wouldn’t rely on it to do a big garden as you would probably use a ton of seed to hope it all germinates. I’ll give it another week or two then buy some more.

    Unpredictable

Tried a few various types of seed without luck to the point I was considering artificial turf. Not one for reviews & this is honestly my first Amazon review as I was so impressed with the quality of seed.

We have a dog who ruined our lawn so wanted something hard wearing and fast growing. Laid down the seeds in May after cutting grass, watered every night for a week with a rake in the bare areas and two/three weeks later we have a massive improvement. Really happy with the product and would highly recommend for all gardeners wanting a green green lawn!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGrass seed sown to “EXACT” instructions (as I’m not a gardener) 8 days later still no growth, Ill update next week, after 14 days.
I live in southern Lincolnshire, with probably the best growing conditions in the country for arable.
I could not rake all the seed under the soil but be assured the “VAST” majority is at about 1-2cm under the soil, I keep it moist “NOT” wet, I water it in the mornings, because I read about plants don’t like damp roots at night !
As I mentioned I’ll update next week

    Update day 18

The seed started to show at about the 11th day, the above photo is at 18 days after sewing, still a few little patches, but time will tell if the seed underneath comes through.

    Update day 41

Grass continues to grow well and has started to thicken up and out nicely. I started cutting it at about 8cm/3″ inches high, needed cutting twice a week and I’m slowly reducing the height to about 5cm/2″inches.

This is another section I seeded only 10 days ago, however I did use fertilizer on this section. (Purchased through Amazon)

Having had a gazebo erected in the middle of the lawn to house the contents of my very large shed whilst I cleared and sorted it.
It took far longer than expected, consequently, the whole of the middle of my lawn disappeared and left
me with a big bald patch.
I ordered the grass seed and the minute it was delivered I was straight outside spreading it all over the area concerned.
Every day I watched it, eagerly await the signs of new greenery, and on and about 12 days after, there it was. These little sprouts of vivid green !! what a sight for sort eyes, and it continues to grow lovely.

I went out yesterday a sewed a few more seeds in the areas that I didn’t cover so well, and am now looking forward to having a nice lawn back that I can sit in and enjoy.

I will be 80 in a few months time, and am planning to semi-retire, so maybe I can enjoy my garden even more.

Should I need to re-patch anytime in the future, I will definitely be purchasing the same band.

Used the seed to patch-in a number of small areas of lawn where moss and dead grass was visible. Scrapped the moss and dead areas up and loosened the soil immediately under, scattered some seed over, then lightly sieved some compost over and waited generally 7 to 10 days of showery weather in October, to see the grass growing. The new, darker areas of grass look good and healthy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBack in the summer I dug up a tired old garden path across our lawn and wanted to return it to grass. Having levelled the ground I trawled through Amazon to find some grass suitable for my use. We have a long garden, and a border collie, Storm. Storm can get up to quite a speed and the path/new grass section is right where she slams the brakes on before ploughing into the hedge at the bottom of the garden. I needed the grass to be resiliant to the braking and turning forces of a very agile young border collie. I thought “sprogs and dog hardwearing” were all words I wanted to hear.

I followed the instructions and sprinkled out the grass. I only had a 4m long stretch x 0.5m so not a huge amount, and I’ve got lots of seed left over. In fact, it’s come in handy to patch up areas where Storm has gone for a wee and killed the grass.

I wanted to protect it from the hundreds of birds that visit our garden every day so I laid the grass and then used an insect protector anchored down with some tent pegs and waited.

A few weeks later and my former path had become a lush lawn once more. The colour doesn’t quite match the existing lawn, although that’s a hybrid of all sorts of grass and moss so that doesn’t bother me. It took around a week in the height of summer (just as we had a heat wave, typically) before the grass germinated. I spinkled the area with a light dusting of hose water morning and evening, and before long the grass was starting to come through. It was 3-4 weeks before I would say it was a fully lawned area, but I’m pleased with it.

The dog has been darting all over the place on it ever since. I laid the grass in late July and as we enter into November it looks lush and full despite Storm’s best efforts.

Nice lush grass, grew in a few weeks and hasn't sucumbed to the dog yet!

I’ve bought alot of well known brand seeds and was really disappointed that they disnt grow. After reading the reviews I purchased sprogs and dogs grass seed. The ground has been drained dry by conifers we had and we struggled to even grow weeds. After mixing this with basic potting compost the results in only 3 weeks are amazing.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersI have added my pictures which are date stamped to give you an idea as to how long mine took to grow, it’s going to vary on a case by case basis.

I have listed what I did below (Watch videos online if you have not done it before) all I needed was the rake, watering can, and grass seed.

    1) Raked the soil in the patch so it was broken up
    2) Sprinkled the grass seed over the area (don’t overdo it) (you want a fine even coverage)
    3) Take the rake and LIGHTLY rake in the seed into the soil
    4) Take the head of the rake and lightly press the grass seed in
    5) Water the patch so it’s damp but NOT soaking you dont want a river

If the weather is hot keep an eye on the patch and whenever it goes light grey (it’s getting dry) go out and water till the soil is damp.

Be patient, keep well watered in hot weathe

Really easy to so and grow lots of yellow patches in my garden as I have a large dog that wees a lot, what I really like about this seed is the advice given, I.E there is no such thing as dog proof wee grass, this is a blend of four tough grass’s that grow quick and thick,,, but the best advice given was grass loves nitrogen but not as strong as your dog deposits it keep a watering can full and when you boy or girl as a tinkle water it down with said can. And all should be fine with this tough grass. Only time will tell.

Needs some patience to get started, but it will pay off! I have given it a few rounds (also because the birds feasted on some of the seeds). Used both to seed new areas and to patch up some worn areas. I started in April for fear that May would be too hot and fry the seeds but actually they did great in May, all the pouring rain probably helped, I’m keeping watering every evening if it doesn’t rain.

Fortunately I covered the seed with a garden fleece as the birds were prancing up and down the fleece after the seed. I sowed by hand and although I waited until the nights got warmer, we have had very heavy rain every day since the seed has been sown. We have also had very little sun. Saying that, I was pleased to seed growth when I checked on day 10. (it may have been showing before that). I haven’t yet removed the fleece to have a good look but not all of the seed has sprouted yet after 14 days but it may still happen. Considering the weather conditions, I am pleased with the results so far.

Great reviews but for us it’s taken over 2 weeks to grow and is quite patchy. It’s been down for a month now. Nice bright green colour but not able to use it yet so can’t comment at all on durability and had to do another bag to fill in patches. I guess that’s just the reality of seeding your own lawn.
