Have had it for a month. Bought a nice 50inch 1.5inch think butcher block from homedepot. Mounted right up. No issues with weight. Holds the butcher block. Speakers. 38inch monitor. All my dumb stuff. Grea
I had an old oak desktop and my daughter bought me an under-desk treadmill because she thought I had standing desk. So, I wanted to get a standing desk and saw that I could just order the frame and electric controls, which was perfect.
I purchased this frame and wasn’t sure how sturdy it would be because it was cheaper than other options. It is, however, very sturdy and works perfectly.
Assembly was very simple. My wife walked in and said, “It’s perfect.” I haven’t seen more expensive options, but I can’t imagine needing more than this. 100% satisfied.
I’ve had a butcher block desktop on filing cabinets for over 30 years. I looked at stand up units that go on top of the desk and I didn’t like those, so when I came across this I decided to give it a try. Has 3 levels and I use all 3. Easy to install, easy to set levels and adjust. Quiet and fairly quick to get to set point. My desk is 33×60 in and this fits perfectly.
I purchased this Topsky adjustable standing desk. It worked well for three years, and then suddenly quit working. It just flashes three lines on the LED but doesn’t do anything. I tried every reset imaginable that can be found on the internet. I also contacted Topsky. They said check the cables and hold down the “M” button to reset. I tried this several times. Their response was the following: “Dear Customer, Thank you for your email. There are no other troubleshootings, unfortunately.” Therefore, the question is if you want to pay $200+ to lease this desk for three years.
I will update this review if Topsky responds.
Owning a standing desk has made a big difference for me and the price point was right for this model.
Pros:
1. It raises and lowers smoothly with fine control to specify exactly what height you want.
2. I run a heavy desktop, being fairly close to the 200lb mark. The desk itself can handle 225lbs without issue and works just fine.
3. Side-to-side stability is pretty impressive.
Cons:
1. Virtually all standing desks have wobble and rocking issues at different heights, but the rocking (forward and backward) on this one movement can be pretty bad. I keep mine around 40in-42in. As I mentioned above, I have a top heavy desk setup, so lighter setups will not have as much of an issue.
2. Assembly can be a bit of a pain.
Overall, if you’ve never owned a standing desk, this is a solid option for a frame especially for its price. I bought mine last year and it has been a good choice, though I will be upgrading soon. Recommended 4/5.
For less than 200$ you can buy complete electric desks. Motors, desktops, etc..
In our case, I decided to spend more thinking I would get a better engineered solution.
The desk arrived and we assembled it quickly. About 30 minutes. I purchased an ikea desktop at 60″x30″ to mount as the surface. We opted to place the legs about 10″ for outer edge of desk surface
The issue is that the cabling precludes you from mounting the control head safely at desk-surface perimeter. The kit does provide ONE extension cable to accommodate larger desks, but the controller must still connect directly to one of the motors via the motor’s 12″ cable. Why is this a problem? Because the controller MUST be mounted more to center of desk than one would normally prefer. The net result is that the ARM of office-chair will hit the controller when desk is at “sitting height”.
awy
I reached out to Topsky tech support and they acknowledge this issue. The tech support engineer even went on to say “It’s actually recommended we match the item with a top sized 58.3”x 26.8″, a matching sized table top would not induce such an inconvenience. ”
Yes, with a smaller table surface I might have been able to move teh controller further away from center, but the point of paying a premium for a two motor system is allow for a larger working surface and its load.
The tech also recommended I spend another $30 to buy the extension cable to overcome this engineering issue.
Obviously I am not going to pay a premium for a cable after I paid a premium for a set of electric legs that should have been designed in such a way that I do not need to buy “More parts” to enjoy/experience what the manufacture advertises.
I will return the table and buy a less expensive product so that have the extra money to buy fixes to inadequate engineering.
UPDATE: The seller reached out and offered to fix the posting so that buyers would know of limitation when using desks of larger sizes. They also offered to ship me the necessary extension cable free of charge
Bought this for dad and he installed a tabletop from IKEA on this thing. He likes it and works awesome. Very sturdy and our cat likes jumping on the table with different height settings.
Exactly what I was looking for. I was excited to find this. I wanted a motorized standing desk, and this being just the frame allowed me to choose the desktop that I want. It was easy to assemble and works great!
This was easy to assemble and use. I love that I could use my own top.
I needed a 70×30 standing desk, which are generally absurdly priced when bought as a single unit. I was able to cut the price in half by buying the legs and desktop separately, saving me over $400.
These legs were easy to put together and are very sturdy. The motors are a bit loud compared to the Uplift desk I have in my office, but not enough to bother me. The speed and height range are great. I definitely recommend these if you need a custom sit/stand desk on a budget.
I love this! I love how it gose up and down! Love how easy it was to set up, how durable it is! It’s exactly what I was looking for!
We already had an existing desk and didn’t want to purchase a new one. This installed easily and work’s wonderfully
I bought this to pair with an Ikea worktop to create a standing desk. I was replacing a hand-crank Ikea standing desk, and I needed something that would take the weight of the worktop, my 27″ Mac, a 32″ monitor, a 19″ monitor, three hydraulic arms, and a 61-key MIDI keyboard on an additional shelf. To get the extra lift capacity, I decided on a dual-motor mechanism.
The Topsky wasn’t my original choice simply because of the shorter warranty period–there was a competitor with a 5-year warranty–but at the price, I decided to take a chance.
The stand comes in a compact box. I assembled the whole thing on my own in under two hours, and it looks great. The mechanism is smooth and quiet, and copes perfectly with the weight.
My one gripe is the cable to the control box. With a 70″ desk, I could have done with just a few more inches of cable.
On the whole, however, this is a great desk mechanism. It’s early days, so we’ll see how it holds up over time, but for now, I’m over the moon.
Very high quality. I’ve used it for over a year and never once had an issue. I’m sure it’ll last for many many more years as well!
This came a day early and very well packaged. It took a half hour to assemble with one lil helper cranking the allen wrench that came with it. Instructions were fine but a little small for these old eyes. Motors are quiet and seem very strong so far. I will put 3/4″ birch plywood on top and it looks like it will handle it no problem. If there is any issue I will update this and downgrade. I am very impressed so far.
It is sturdy and quiet. I love to be able to save up to 3 pre saved heights.
One thing I wish was better is the part during the assembly where we tighten the bolt into the metal rods that adjust length. I thought it was weird that there are no holes in those rods and we tighten the bolt onto the rods. Suggestion to either put holes or explain in the manual that that is normal cause I’ve never see that before.
The package arrived when promised. Inside the package is a heavy duty frame, with motors mounted on the tops of the two legs. The instructions were reasonably easy to follow, despite clearly having been translated into English from some other language. The entire process was easy, and the width of the desk is adjustable to fit your desktop. Programming the presets is also easy. The motors are not “silent” but they are also not “loud.” The sound they emit is certainly acceptable, especially understanding what they are being asked to do.
Bottom line – I would purchase this product again if the need arises.
Awesome product. Ease assembly. Well-built, professional grade. It came with all part including the extension cord. The manual is too small for me to read so I relied on YouTube which it was perfect.
My husband assembled this and did not complain, so it was easy to assemble. I use it mainly as a cutting table for sewing. I used a melamine tabletop. So far, I have had no problems.
I want to point out that if you are customizing your tabletop, think about its size of it in relation to the door in case it has to be moved. Obviously, you should be able to just disassemble the top but who wants to do extra work if they do not have to?
Estaba muy emocionada por este producto. Llego incompleto. Una vez lo notifique enviaron otro sin problema alguno. Las instrucciones fciles de seguir. Y el mecanismo apenas se oye ejerciendo su funcin. Vale la pena!
I wanted an affordable stand up desk and didn’t want to spend over $500 for a good one so I decided to build my own. The legs are not bad for the price, it is study and if I remembered correctly the legs are a little bit heavy which is good. You don’t want a table with flimsy legs. For the top, I went to Ikea and bought one of their tabletops for around $30 and it fits perfectly with the electric legs. The only cons to buying a table from ikea is that the holes on the ikea table will not match perfectly with the holes on the standing desk. You will have to drill your own holes if do get a table top from ikea. The motor is works well, it is smooth, I like how you could see the height on the little digital screen, but I will say that it is a bit louder than a more expensive table.
Three days into using this Topsky setup and it’s been great. I have a 6′ rustic solid wood plank on it, two 24″ monitors, a shelf, two studio monitor speakers, some camera stuff and a couple laptops. It’s holding up well.
Easy to setup.
My worry right now is the leg to foot attachment. It’s held together with four screws and the connection of the metal pieces is flat- no flanges or anything. Hopefully the screws don’t back themselves out.
Wasn’t sure what to expect when I bought this, but now that I’ve got it put together I am extremely pleased. It not only looks great but works very well plus it feels sturdy. It moves very smoothly, it’s a bit slow but I think that was on purpose, I’ve never used another rising desk so I’m not sure if that’s normal or not, either way it’s not bad. Overall I am very happy with my purchase
3.5 months into using the desk with a homemade desktop, and it’s great. The motors are decently quiet and the frame is sturdy. When it’s set higher there’s a noticeable back and forth wobble, but it doesn’t bother me. I’d just recommend avoiding vigorous erasing and typing.
This is one of my best purchases this year. Time will tell if it holds up long-term!
The desk was easy to assemble, with good simple instructions.
The controller worked as expected and I love the memory feature.
Only thing that didn’t meet my expectations was the width expansion so I could use my existing 2.4 meter desk top. I built a subframe under the top which also provided a shadow gap and a place to mount the power bricks
The biggest challenge was Amazon did not offer delivery to my country. So I found another shipment option. I was somewhat worried about the shipping but all went well. Actually the product is well protected in the box. Assembly was also quite simple. I paired the lift with a locally bought top. The whole setup is very functional. I have a 160×70 top – gives me a lot of flexibility. The operation is also very simple the lift comes with three heights pre-programmed but you can change as needed. I needed a desktop holder and I opted for the Loglink EO0005 holder which also completed the installation. The Loglink is also available from Amazon.
Incredibly strong motors! I converted a very expensive desk to this vary-desk. I work from home & have using this every day for a month and it has to be one of the best purchases I have made to date. I have a lamp, 27″ iMac, x2 27″ monitors & a notebook computer & the motors are so strong that it raises as fast as it lowers. It’s amazing how once it gets close to the set height that it begins to slow down. I purchased another vary-height desk that included a cheap fiber wood top that struggles. This one on the other hand is a beast. Get it and you won’t be disappointed. Great value & its incredibly sturdy
I have been extremely happy with my purchase of this standing desk. The desk is easy to adjust with the push of a button, allowing me to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day. This has helped me to improve my posture and increase my energy levels. The desk is very sturdy and well-constructed. Initially, I had a faulty controller that occasionally made the desk lock into a position, but the customer service team reached out to me and promptly resolved the problem by sending me an updated version.
Overall, I highly recommend this electric standing desk to anyone looking to improve their work experience.
I love the dual motors. I needed a base that I knew could hold all the gear of a home studio. (More pictures coming when project is complete). This base was super easy to assemble – it took all of 15 mins start to finish.. I used a real wood & walnut veneer 30×60 top. I trusted that this base could handle it – and handle it it did! – No complaints. e tested the full height at about winches from floor and sure there is a little wobble when the desk is loaded, bujtg it’s really expected at that height- If kept at 3/4 of its lop heights its plenty stable.
Don’t hesitate – save some money and build your own dream desk with this base. Its a 10 out of 10!
I love this desk, made my custom standing desk design work perfectly. You will need power tools and be generally handy to put this thing together with a top (i bought a solid beech wood top), but its totally worth it. That being said the only reason I gave it a 4/5 stars is the company doesn’t include 2 extension cords for its dual motors, so you need to order a second extension cord, which right now is back ordered by over 2 months. Instead I purchased an 8 pin Power Extension Cord 2 pack for EPS’s from J&D (ASIN: B07RW7PNG6) and cut the top clips off the male end of one cable to complete the work. The company uses an 8 pin molex connector so anything that does male to female on an 8 pin ribbon cable will do you. The company should really be sending ALL the cables necessary for assembly, and charging $30 for an extension cable, which could be bought for $11 is ridiculous.
However all together, the motors are smooth, the memory function is really nice, the table is sturdy, and I am all around pleased.
Shopping for a standing desk can be OVERWHELMING! There’s options from $150 models to $3,000+ models and everything in between! I spent hours comparing models, looking up reviews, reading about wobble, etc I had to take breaks between research because my head was hurting.
Well let me save you some time. *This* table is *it*! It’s the bees knees! It’s what you need! It’s what you’ve been looking for! If you’re reading my comment, your search is over!
This table is SOLID. The dual motors lift this thing effortlessly, and showed no signs of struggle after adding all my equipment to the desktop. It’s smooth and the settings are so easy to understand/memorize.
And the wobble? Minimal. Everyone makes such a big deal about the wobble, but I can assure you that even leaning against the table doesn’t concern me or spill my water. Yes it has some movement but unless you buy a 4 legged table or something with a crazy crossbar, you’re going to get wobble. However this table keeps the wobble in check, even at a comfortable height for a 5’9″ guy.
The provided cable management items were a life saver and setup was easy enough. I slapped an Ikea butcher block piece on top and got some cable baskets that I’ve fixed to the back and my setup looks mint! *chefs kiss*
Ease your mind and buy this stand knowing you’ll be satisfied with your decision. You’re welcome.
Cuando colocamos la superficie 1.8 mt se siente inestable se podria mejorar este diseo con algo que estabilice mejor la mesa de trabajo
I am an artist and working bent over a desk or painting table gets quite tiring. I simply push a button and raise the height using this base. This is a great feature. It is also quite sturdy. I love it. My one caution would be to measure carefully the desktop you choose to put on it. Remember, you have quarter round molding on the floor which stops the legs, and be sure to account for the length front to back of the legs. Otherwise, you will have a gap between the back of the desk and the wall. I ended up with about 4 inches and I used a 24″ front to back depth desktop that already had screw holes pre drilled. Also, there are 3 buttons for memory heights, and up and down button shows you height highlighted in lights so you can easily pick your favorite height and return to it easily!
I use this for my home office desk and it is great to purchase just the base which allows you to use your own custom desk. I was able to use an old dining table top which gives me plenty of space. I found an article online from a customer who said he had done a LOT of research and not to waste your time with other motorized standing desks; this is the one to go with. So I trusted him and I have been a happy customer.
I would like to rave about my customer service experience! I had a problem with the controller; it stopped working out of the blue after about a year of flawless operation. I sent an email about the warranty and someone responded within 1-2 hours. No delay whatsoever in the communication process of the needed information. Then, I had the replacement part within 3 days and it was very easy to replace. Desk is now back up and running. Kudos to the TOPSKY service standards!
So Impressed with this. Purchased a second hand desk of local gumtree site for the top. put it on and the whole setup is less than 300.00 . half the price of some equivalent offerings with specialist suppliers, and from what I can gather, this is just the same quality as the best of the rest. Very happy with it. Hope you have the same experience.
TOPSKY Extension Cable for Standing Desk DF02.01 DF03.01 DF04.01
For those if you with desks that have greater depth, please copy and paste the above into google and it will direct you to a amazon product that you can purchase separately. it’s unfortunately an additional 30.00 which I think is too much but its a small price to have the legs and command module reach the correct depth. I just hope it doesn’t breakdow
Bought this so I can work from home due to spinal issues and awaiting surgery. Package came very quickly and really well packed.
Assembly was easy enough good instructions also with them.
Quality: the quality of this item is fantastic nice durable powder coat finish nice design.
Once assembled it is very sturdy and stable, holds my 28inch monitor and 17″ laptop and my own personal large pc unit.
Motors are quiet enough not too loud and are pretty quick.
Definitely a fantastic purchase.
Top tip I have added m10 roller wheels to mine and they are also a great job.
My use case was swapping these into a desk with regular ‘dumb’ legs. The desk was a couple of years old, but I was jealous of the cool kids with their adjustable desks. Well after looking at those with top reviews on Amazon I finally settled on these with dual motors.
The box arrived, very heavy, this was a good start. Everything was in the box as described and the instructions were very detailed – I prefer a ‘see one, do one’ style of learning for practical tasks and there is a QR code linking to a YouTube video which is most useful. In no time the frame was assembled and my desk was ready for a first test. Everything was perfect, smooth operation, granular control and stable at any height – impressive. Highly recommend
Had a problem with the controller, the supplier was very helpful, just asked me to send a video of the problem as I was getting a error code. The error code didn’t happen anymore but the controller still had problems of no power or display.
The support has been great from the supplier. Now sending me a replacement controller for which I’m extremely grateful for, thank you.
I’d looked at several desks of this sort and this seemed the best. I wasn’t disappointed. On unpacking it looks a bit daunting as there are many parts to put together but it’s actually fairly simple once you get going. It’s reasonably heavy but assembly can be done by one person if necessary even though 2 people is recommended: I didn’t have too much trouble getting the frame upstairs once I’d assembled it in the hallway. Because you can alter the width you can get exactly the length of desktop you want – 100cm up 140cm from, say IKEA. I’ve made my own under-desk slide out tray for my music keyboard which means I can adjust the desk height to exactly how i want it for music versus just normal typing. I have a fair bit of equipment on it: 2 monitors, 2 music keyboards, 1 computer keyboard and 1 laptop and it handles it all perfectly. From early usage it’s worth every penny.
I’ve been extremely impressed with this so far, especially considering the price. I fitted a heavy piece of 40mm solid oak worktop for the desktop and it has no problems with stability or power to lift it.
Great and solid construction – choose your own top (I opted for an IKEA Bekant). Two motors in each side means you can load the weight on the desk up if you need to. No longer have to sit all day long. Brilliant!
I just purchased the desk a few days ago. The material quality is quite good, assembling it was also easy, documentation was good, and it works smoothly.
First and foremost, unless you have standing desk experience you are going to be browsing all over Amazon trying to find a good budget standing desk frame. Well, I will solve your hunt and tell you this Topsky frame is awesome.
Since the list is lacking content, I’ll go with Cons first since there are so few:
1.) The M6 button head bolts they provide you with are not black finished as one would expect with a black frame, they are standard silver zinc coated and of questionable quality – however they are more than sufficient to get the job done.
2.) The frame doesn’t offer much in the means of cable management, but the outputs for both motors are between the center support rails. This means, unless you have some sort of provision for your top that has enough clearance for the cable, you will have to route the cable over (…under?) the center support rail and out to wherever the rest of your cabling will be.
3.) The extension cable is longer than the maximum length of the frame, and could be a tad shorter. In order to manage the extension, you’ll have to roll it up and use a tie for the slack – and then mount that however you desire. Or just let all the cables hang free, your choice…
4.) The control module doesn’t use the same size M6 bolts, but rather some wood screws that are much smaller. That’s fine, however since that allows mounting into anything you desire. You won’t be building this desk out of sheetrock.
5.) Desk wobble at extension (read: standing position) is going to be a thing, regardless of what desk frame you use – even Uplift/Autonomous frames will have wobble. You can minimize this by making sure your mounting provisions are tight, strong, and the overall weight of your top is heavy enough to provide stability.
6.) It’s a T-frame not a C-frame.
That being said, I could make a list of pro’s about this, but honestly just look at the 5 star rating this product has. I could go on a pretty long keyboard rampage telling you why I love my new frame. I’ll sum it up and keep it short and sweet though.
The desk frame is awesome. It’s sturdy, it’s solid, but really needs to have different hardware and it would be beneficial overall to add additional mounting provisions. I think the wobble that it does have, is exacerbated by the lack of attachment points for this frame. One could easily drill an additional hole on each top mounting arm, and add another M6 bolt. I used a 74×30 butcher block countertop, so screws would have been quite cheesy after spending $360.00 on an island top (not including the materials for finish work, etc.). I used some M6x15mm threaded inserts, if you’re using a solid wood top you will probably want to do this as well. I used a kit found here on Amazon that included a really crappy 9mm drill bit. The inserts are fine though.
The desk wobble that is most noticeable isn’t side to side, but front to back – the legs could stand to be a little bit longer, and after making sure the feet are adjusted correctly to the floor and is solid, the wobble is still there. Lighter weight tops might not experience so much, YMMV.
The frame is quiet – not loud, and I experience no odd random noises. I have a full tower custom PC, two monitors, various other stuffs and the motors barely show any strain. I am likely at 75% capacity or so, taking into the account the 100lb countertop that I’m using as the desk top.
I would like to see this frame see a revision list though, and hopefully additional attachment points will be on there somewhere. A C-Frame option would have been phenomenal, as that is what I was originally looking for to begin with. The additional foot room as well as being able to have a cross bar built into the kit would be great for stability and looks. Black oxide hardware. Battery backup for memory storage so manual resets aren’t necessary every time the power flickers. Longer feet for added front/back stability. Make that a thing, and this is going to directly compete with the expensive brands available for 2x as much.
Buy it, built it, and enjoy your new standing desk!
All in, I am looking forward to building another one of these desks using this frame – with a slightly cheaper top, as this was a fairly expensive project. The value is absolutely there, and the build quality is awesome.
Buy this desk – it’s gonna be the one you’ll want and need.
I bought this to allow me to work standing up when in long meetings and does exactly what it says on the tin. The motors are quiet and the whole frame is sturdy.
Just got this delivered and put together yesterday. For the actual desktop surface I just used the same piece of wood from my old Ikea desk ($50). For anyone who is reading reviews trying to see if this desk is better than any of the others, I would highly recommend this one because of the dual motors. Most other standing desks in this price range either have no motors or only one motor. With only one motor to lift the desk up and down, you can imagine that it would have to work twice as hard. The first thing I did when I put this desk together was lay on top of it and raise it all the way up. It lifted me (160 lbs) up with no problem and I have no doubts it will hold my setup just fine.
The noise the desk makes is pretty quiet. I’m using it in my house so it’s not a problem, but if you were installing it in an office I don’t think it would annoy anyone else near you.
I’m 6’3 and the tallest setting is still too high for me. I would say this would be tall enough for anyone under 6’6ish. At max height it’s still very sturdy and way more sturdy than my old cheap Ikea desk.
Putting the desk together was very easy and straightforward. I was able to do it solo by myself in less than an hour. If you had someone to help you could get it done in 30 mins easy. Comes with all the tools you need besides a screwdriver. I would recommend using a drill when you screw the legs into your desktop though, because it might be tough to do with a normal screwdriver depending on what your desktop is made of. I’m just using an old Ikea table so it was easy, but if you’re using a butcher board or any other thick piece of wood you would probably need a drill. Also comes with extra hardware incase you lose anything while assembling.
I also love that they included some cable management things like cable ties and little 3M stickies to keep the cables from hanging down. I got myself some cable management trays from amazon to hold all the cords from my computer, monitor, PlayStation etc.
Overall Im really happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to anyone in the market for a standing desk. Ill try to come back in a few months and update this review to see how its holds up over time. Thanks for reading if you got to the end maybe you would press the helpful button so more people can see this review? Thanks!
Hallo,
– preiswert
Update: Since writing this review, Topsky sky have sent me another cable. I am now satisfied with the desk but my original advice below still stands.
—-
Really good desk and easy to put together but why oh why would you market and sell a frame capable of holding large desk tops without the needed length cables to accommodate? My desk is 80cm long and the frame is in the centre, the cable doesn’t reach the front of the desk! I can’t even attach it to the leg. This is pointless!!!
If it helps. Your desk needs to be 50cm depth for this to sit correctly.
Lastly if anyone is thinking wheels, it needs to be 10M bolts!
This is the first time I have posted a review but thought that this purchase deserved some merit.
Initial thoughts, the overall build quality is excellent and ease of putting it together was very straight forward.
The only negative points/observations that I have are two, both of which are minor in my opinion but still worth mentioning, in case you are considering this item. I believe others in other reviews have commented on the same.
1- The pack came with one extension cable supplied, but should be supplied with two as the length between the motorised legs to the control panel are far too short. I raised this with the vendor and they were excellent in responding and resolving the issue by sending another extension cable. I must say that I was very impressed with the customer service and they kept me upto date and informed throughout.
2- The motorised leg/legs do/does make a grumbling sound for a couple of seconds when going down from a standing height. The same does not occur on the way up, interestingly. This isn’t a big problem as most times I am standing.
Overall I would say that for the money it is very good value, especially when you compare it to other similar products on the market.
I was searching for a while. Came across these legs for a decent price. Easy to put together. Pretty Silent operation. Can extend for longer desks I have a 2m top on it works fine.
UPDATE (Mar 8, 2022):
The company sent me a different version from what I originally received and it’s working flawlessly. I’ve had this for several months now and it continues to work as expected. I adjust my desk height 3 times a day and this has no issues keeping up with my needs. Huge shout out to this company for continuing to reach out to me to ensure a great experience. Updating to 5 stars for a solid product and a solid company standing by it.
UPDATE (Jan 4, 2022):
Customer service reached out to me in response to this review, and sent me new module and power supplies. Will update again if it lasts this time. Adding a star back for their willingness to reach out and stand by their product.
ORIGINAL:
This unit is exactly what I wanted/needed. I’ve built a custom butcher block countertop desk and wanted to upgrade it to a standing desk. It works great. Really smooth up/down motion. Doesn’t even slosh my tea when it moves. Holds monitors, desk, etc all beautifully. Yes I did the math to ensure I was under the suggested max weight and it handles all of it beautifully.
Easily programmable settings and easy to install.
However:
After about 2 months of use (I work from home full time and stand at least half the day), the control module would short in the morning. I would press the setting to go to standing, it would move a couple inches, then die. I would then need to unplug the power to reset the module. Then it works the rest of the day. Annoying, but fine.
I reach out to customer service when it starts to get worse (and figure this probably shouldn’t be a normal flow anyways). Great customer service. They have me do a couple troubleshooting steps and send them video. In the course of troubleshooting, the whole control module dies. They ship me a new one and ask me to return the broken one for troubleshooting (more on this later).
New one arrives in a couple days, swap it out. And it works! Until now about 2 months later, same issue.
Why won’t I do the same thing again with customer service? Glad you asked!
1. I shouldn’t have to go through this every couple months to get a working desk
2. When I did that last time and sent them the return things got weird. They asked me to send it back to them and then invoice them for return shipping. Fine….except that when they reimbursed me via paypal, they made me pay the business fee so I didn’t get fully reimbursed and, the kicker, the address they gave me was wrong. So UPS charged me again and returned the broken module back to me….
So all in all, this would be a 5 star product if the control module showed any sort of longevity. Glad to see the company standing behind their product and being willing to ship replacement parts, but having to do it more than once is kind of an issue.
I bought 2 of these for my team in work. The paper instructions aren’t great (too small to see the details) but they link you to a YouTube video that shows assembly steps much better.
Took 15 mins to assemble. Very solid and super quiet, my desk is 3m.aeay and I can hardly hear the desk moving.
So have used this table for a few months it’s been ok. The table was functioning well for a while but a couple month in I noticed the controller that adjusts the height stopped working. If you unplug the power brick and let it discharge then plug it back in it will work for a while then stop working again.
But that less than ideal having to wait 5 minutes every time you want to adjust the height.
*Update since review the company has sent out a new controller and table works ok hopefully last long than a few month. Upping from a 1 star as they have been responsive to the review.
I fitted my own desk of 1200mm x 750mm x 18mm with ease. Good clear instructions, and very easy to assemble. There is no wobble (wooden floor), very sturdy.
I had some questions, so I asked TOPSKY within Amazon, and they responded within a few hours.
Very happy with this product and the service.
Debated about ordering one for ages, researched loads out there but decided on this one as it has dual motors and i`m glad i did. Probably not the cheapest on Amazon but i bet it`s the best, comes really well packaged and protected, really easy to assemble just take your time. I re used an old desk that i bought from IKEA which is basically a box with draws in, removed it from the old metal frame and sat it on this one and it`s solid as a rock. My office chair will not slide fully under a normal desk as the arms are too high but this cures that problem, set the 3 heights i need, one for sitting, one for storage and one for standing. Works brilliantly and is almost silent when running, don`t think about it just get one you will not regret it, i don`t.
Overall a great set of standing desk legs. I attached them to an Ikea Karlby tabletop. The minor issue was with the cables for the standing desk functions, where it felt as though I was putting too much tension on the wires to ensure the buttons were mounted under the desk in place. Although this may not be an immediate issue, I feel over time the wires could be damaged.
I’m glad that I purchased this desk frame, it is a real bonus to be able to raise and lower the desk at will. The motors achieve this smoothly and quietly.
It was straightforward to put together and we used a length of breakfast bar top as the desk top. This was easily accommodated by the adjustable frame. We’re extremely pleased with it and it works well.
Had a 2.5m x 60mm x 30mm wooden tabletop. added this stand. sanded and treated the wood and I now have a worktop that I can stand or sit at. no a unique product but these guys make a good version so easy to recommend.
This doesn’t need much introduction – it’s a motorised base for a sit/stand desk at a price that’s more affordable than the crop of ready-made desks on the market.
I imagine that the main questions on anyone’s mind are: though it’s cheaper than others, it’s still a hunk of cash – so does it work, and is it sturdy?
The short answer is that, after a couple of months of use, yes it does, and yes it is.
To give some context to that, here is how I have mine set up.
The top I used is a solid beech job from Ikea – 1500mm x 750mm x 25mm, a roomy and sturdy affair. That top is carrying 2 monitors, a laptop, desk fan, speakers, tower pc (under-slung in a carriage), lamp, and various other objects.
I haven’t weighed all of this kit but I’m pretty sure it comes in under the recommended load of ‘under 80kg’.
In operation the base functions flawlessly. The raising and lowering operation is smooth, with a soft acceleration and deceleration in both directions, with no discernable adverse vibrations. Beverages, for instance, remain undisturbed (we’ll just move straight on past the advisability of having a cuppa in close proximity to one’s laptop and keyboard – we all do it, we all know it’s an accident waiting to happen).
There are a few reviews reporting that the base has an alarming wobble, and this was the first thing I looked for. The upshot is that, while there is indeed some wobble, it’s no greater than that found in the versions from Ikea (yes, I went to Ikea to wobble desks), which, in some variants, cost twice as much as this. However, the wobble is not due to instability as such, it’s just inherent in these particular designs (a central pillar support is always going to be more unstable than a leg at each corner – maybe not if it was made from adamantium, but I find that a fictional table is less functional). Under normal circumstances it’s not really noticeable – you have to give it a reasonable shove to really upset it, and even then it’s not particularly bad.
I can’t really comment on customer support as I’ve not had reason to contact them.
To sum up, the finish is good, build quality is also good, operation is smooth, stability is fine (at least in my case), and I find it very much fit for purpose.
I’ve no pictures of it currently but I’ll add one or two later – if it’s possible to do that after posting.
Researched height adjustable desks and found out dual motors are the way to go. After looking at a lot of models and choices (both on Amazon and online), went with this one. Best value for the price and so far so good (one month using). I usually sit in the mornings for meetings and stand in the afternoons for tasks, etc (at least 2 adjustments each day).
SETUP: Instructions are clear and took me only 30 minutes. Do read them and take time measuring underneath before drilling into your top. The default settings are 70 (minimum), 90 (middle), 120 maximum/standing). I didn’t need to make any adjustments as these default settings were fine.
PERFORMANCE: It is pretty quiet and moves fast. Most importantly its smooth and performs like its built to last (benefit of the dual motor).
CUSTOMER SERVICE: While showing off my desk to my brother the control locked up and was stuck on the lowest setting. I called TOPSKY customer service and spoke with Frank. He sent the manual PDF and suggested I do a manual reset. Easy quick and resolved.
MY SETUP: Since I went with the white dual motor I wanted to cut the cost of the table top (seen online for over $100+). I went to IKEA bought the LINNMON white table top for $17 (found in the clearance/returns 55″ x 29.5″ x 1.75″). I prefer the deeper tabletops verses most you see online at 24″ due to having more distance of your eyes to the screens and allows more room for keyboard, mouse, Ipad etc. I bought the “Scandinavian Hub Under Desk Cable Management Trays” for under desk wire management and even though it says not compatible with LINNMON tabletop (found out after I received it and not that obvious on Amazon) I still gave it a shot and so far no issues. I pre-tapped the holes with a narrow drill to the screws and didn’t drill the screws in tight.
$230 for the DUAL motor desk, $19 for the wire management tray, $17 for IKEA tabletop = $266 all in.
Due to them only including one extension lead for the leg controls the controller itself can not reach the edge of the desk making it unusable or at the very least very impractical to use. I am trying to get another extension cable to solve this. but a design flaw that shouldn’t exist none the less.
Edit:
I was initially sent the table and had an issue with the cable length as viewable in the photo. I’m not sure if this issue has been fundamentally fixed for people ordering the product however i can say after contact with the seller they have sent out two free extension cables and rectified the issue. The standing desk frames themselves have also been performing very well.
motorised table legs working great but due to stupid short cable for control panel I cant even mount it on the side, let alone on the front.
They give you 1x proper long cable to motor but then other motor cable is like 20cm an pointing inwards so you have almost zero options to wire the control panel unless you have super narrow table.
This is basically a headache as I now need to buy very specific molex cable extensions to make it usable for my table top.
4 for effort but 1 start for execution.
I got this in a Prime Day sale, so paid about 170. Price aside, these desk legs work perfectly. They look clean, leave space under the desk completely open and do their job without complaint. The three-position memory is sufficient, I use it for sit, stand and store (chair fully under the desk).
The motion is smooth and audible but unintrusive. The movement speed is good, I think it takes ~15 seconds to do the full range but it’s not been a problem for me. At full height the desk is still comfortingly stable.
While assembling it I was able to trigger the overload by sitting on it as it lifted, but in use it just gets on with it. My desk has two 27″ monitors, two printers, a laptop and a full set of peripherals, plus all the power supplies and usual desk clutter.
The included screws give you a couple of options for attaching your desk, I got some threaded inserts (M6 I think) rather than screwing directly because my re-used top is veneered chipboard. The legs support the top along its length, so no sagging. The feet are adjustable to get it sitting flat.
Overall I’m very happy with this.
Was really surprised just how great this desk is and great value. Very solid, with no wobble – just be sure you tighten everything up when you’re done attaching the top! Fair instructions, but didn’t mention that I don’t think! You tube videos available, which help. Didn’t take long to assemble alone. Purchased timber too from local wood yard for 120. 52cm x 150cm x 2.5cm
Perfect for me & home working.
Don’t normally write reviews, but I was on the hunt for a good quality standing desk and happy to say this delivers! Sturdier than my previous desk!! Built very well and works a treat!
You can tell the quality once you receive the box. Very good package, and then very good product. Easy to install and straightforward to use. Impressive product and highly recommended.
Very sturdy and quick to assemble even if the instructions were a bit ESL. It seemed well designed and excellently constructed except for the flimsy plastic guide tubes for certain bolts which seemed a bit pointless. Operation was very smooth and easy to control. Overall excellent value for money given the sophistication of the product.
Got DVT after months of working at home sitting for hours on end. This is awesome. Feeling far better standing and moving regularly. Highly recommended
I ended up buying a two of these because they were so good. I have purchased ones that are double the price and would not hesitate to recommend these frames. They were pretty easily assembled, well packaged and felt very sturdy in quality.
Absolutely fabulous value for money. Goes together without any problems.
I did use a torque wrench (bought for use with my bike) to avoid over tightening the supplied bolts.
Put an IKEA solid beech top onto the frame and the two together operate smoothly and quietly.
If providing your own desktop you will need to provide your own (self tapping) screws to attach the top to the frame.
All other components are provided.
Would definitely recommend.
This is a perfect adjustable standing desk frame. No complaints whatsoever. I like being able to add any desktop I wish.
Motors are quiet and strong. I have 3 24″ monitors on a desk attached stand and motion is smooth and quiet as per video
I am 6ft2 and it is a good height for me to use standing and that’s not even at max height.
If you do get one I would recommend getting a cable tidy rack to screw onto the bottom of your desk
The product looks exactly as in the pictures, build quality is amazing, even raised up to the maximum it is sturdy enough.
This is the second one of these I’ve purchased. I have one at home and in my studio. I wanted a duel motor one as I have audio production kit including monitor speakers which are very heavy.
This handles the load no problem. Very fast and smooth action. Love the 3 memory settings, save your regular positions and access them at the touch of a button.
Highly recommend.
I have waited and waited to review these new legs. Why? Because I’m looking for a reason not to give 5 stars. Only issue is that I’ve waited so long, that the legs are even better than I thought, I was expecting some breakage, something to go wrong, it not to work one day, me to over load it.. but nothing. I have thrown extra weight on it, used it daily for months, and it still works 100% and brilliant.
Also the supplier is as good as the legs. They delivered within 48hrs when I expected a week and I could not find 1 fault!!!
I have recommended to everyone I see!
I’d been looking at sit/stand desks for ages. Every one I looked at had mixed reviews and cost 400 pounds plus so I gave up. Then I saw this one at a friend’s house and having seen how good it was up close I bought one straight away. Have to say, it’s absolutely excellent. I can’t really find any faults. Extremely sturdy even when extended. At 110cm where I have it for standing there is negligible front to back wobble. There’s a bit more at the top height of 120cm but even then only when you try and wobble it. I’m currently typing this with it up at 120 and it’s absolutely fine. Side to side wobble is even less noticeable. Can’t recommend this highly enough. I have a 110cm x 80xm desk top so not sure what it would be like with a bigger, heavier work surface but I’d bet unless it’s massive and weighs a tonne it’ll be fine.
I don’t normally review products but this one was well worth itVery sturdy, good quality, quiet motors. Really recommended.
Really sturdy and well-priced desk legs. Took a bit longer than the suggested 25 Minutes to put it all together though. When Assembling, make sure you have a drill and a electric screwdriver with a HexBit as some bolts are hard to fit with just the included Allen key.
The Good:
* Features from a much more expensive set of electric adjustable legs such as Collision Detection and Height indication, as well as memory Presets – all for less than half the normal price you’d pay for that kind of thing.
* Instructions also provide a link to a good setup guide video on Youtube to help you set things up.
* Super sturdy and strong, even at the full height.
* Motors are pretty quiet, and smooth, not too quick but a good balance of stability and ease of position changes.
The Bad:
* Instructions were not 100% clear about all sets of bolts. I had a set of M6 bolts I ended up not needing and not mentioned in the build steps. The Cabling info for the Motors to plug into the control box were not too clear (plug the SHORT 8Pin connector into M1 and the long one [using the extension], into M2).
* Box is HEAVY, needs 2 people really to move it around and build the thing (bit of an issue as my office is up 2 flights of stairs!)
*Personally, I’d have liked the desk to go a bit lower than 70cm, but no big issue, as the rest more than makes up for it.
very happy with the stand and motors. after 3 weeks of usage been hearing bit of noise which the desk is lowering.. need to check
After spending WAY too much time in lockdown, working remotely, I decided to unscrew the legs from my existing IKEA desktop and get this electric stand/sit solution. Best thing ever! Often stand up for my zoom presentations nowadays.
Absolutely rock solid desk, with good design overall. I did run into a brief issue where the desk wouldn’t lower, however I realised this was due to me having pulled up on one of the legs while moving it which meant the legs were out of alignment, meaning it wasn’t moving for safety reasons. Other than the error code it displayed not being in the manual, I have zero issues.
Well built, sturdy, worth the money, after a very long time leaving a review on a product, absolutely love it.
First of all i have no dislikes to mention, just likes.
Like the confidence inspiring packaging (mabe a bit too much un-recyclabes though), all the parts cleverly packaged into a much smaller box than expected. Easy to use instructions. Great assmebly video too but the instructions were simple enough to get the job done.
Attaching my own desktop was a doddle. Got the desktop and cable management (you do need this) from a Swedish furniture shop, but wish i’d been patient to source a solid top, this frame deserves it.
Once assembled it was easy enough to set both sit and stand positions in memory. The motors are smooth, quick and quiet i can’t praise it enough. Should have got one sooner is all i can say.
Would be good to have a power screw driver when assembling. The legs are very sturdy and the twin motors are very quiet , you could sit in it and it would work (I only weigh 65kg)
I highly recommend this frame. Easy to assemble, I built it on my own in less than an hour. The controls work great and the motors are nimble. I purchased a very affordable laminated worktop from cutmyplastic.co.uk to finish off the build. Overall very pleased.
Very easy to install, clear instructions, all parts properly labeled.
I only fitted this the other day, so I cannot comment on its durability.
It is reasonably silent, except it sometimes vibrates a bit when moving downwards.
we liked it so much we bought 2. Easy to assemble and use. 1 of the desks has a 2m long 38 kg wooden desk top, two screens with arms, a couple of lap tops and handles the weight no problem.. One tip, only plug in the control box once you have screwed it in place as the hole is hidden by the cable once attached.
Arrived 4 days earlier than expected
very strong
easy to follow instructions in the box as well as easy follow along video online
extremely happy with this item
the preset height settings are perfect
very quiet too
would highly recommend,
aids posture beautifully
Great product, easy to assemble.
But expensive. For what it is
Docking one star because the explanation on the supplied alternative fittings for using own desk top is very confusing.
Just fantastic, very solid and sturdy. I’ve programed my presets and use them all the time. It’s a bit expansive but worth the investment.
I bought this as I have been having back problems due to spending long hours sat at my desk working from home.
When I ordered it, I had some reservations about the build quality and sturdiness but I have been proven wrong. It arrived next day, very well packaged in sturdy polyethylene foam, not polystyrene that leaves white bits everywhere (it would have been a bonus if the packaging materials were all non-plastic based)
It was relatively easy to assemble (the drawings in the manual are on the small side of things but otherwise clear enough).
The build and construction is solid, very sturdy, I was very impressed. It even comes with adjustable feet if you have uneven floors. The only thing that would have made it even better would be a retractable control panel that hides under the desk when not in use but other than that, it’s virtually perfect.
I was impressed by how easy assembly is, once I’d taken a moment to digest the instructions.
All of the screws and fixings come in a blister pack attached to cardboard and are clearly marked. The instructions tell you which screws to use when assembling the legs. In the box, you also get a variety of sticky-backed cable ties to fix the power cables to the underside of your desktop.
I opted for an Ikea worktop, which is quite long and heavy. Note that the legs don’t come with the self-tapping screws required to fix the legs to the tabletop. I used pocket hole screws, and they worked great.
Setting up the memory heights is easy, too. Just move the legs to the height you want your desk, hold down the M button on the control pad for a few seconds then press the number -1, 2, 3 – and that it’s.
The motors are surprisingly quiet. My tabletop is heavy and on it I have a PC, two monitors, speakers and other peripherals, but the motors have no issue raising and lowering the table.
Wanted a standing desk for a long time and with a new job working from home (Thanks 2020) i figured this is the year to build my perfect desk.
The frame tuned up very well packed though using a lot of foam packing so not incredibly environmentally conscious.
Build was very simple though the threads are formed very simply in the steel which meant some are tight and there is a warning not to tighten them too much so I am unsure if they are really strong enough. This is the main reason to not give 5 stars.
So with the frame all connected i gave it a test. I was really impressed at how silky smooth and quiet the motors are. they also have very nice acceleration and deceleration when reaching position.
Thanks to Christmas I currently weigh almost exactly 100kg so laid on the frame to test. there was not diference to the sound of the motors and it did not seem to struggle at all.
The control is quite simple to operate and to program. It displays the height in cm and the display goes blank after not being operated for a while.
Obviously I can’t say how long it will last and what it will be like with a lot of use, time will tell. For now I’m really happy and can’t wait to get my desk finished.
I spent a lot of time researching frames before I made my decision on this one. I was a little build skeptical as this was a cheaper option compared to other frames.
I have to say, that having used it for the past week, I don’t know what more I could ask for it. The build quality is excellent, extremely stable and robust, sound its very quiet, and the motor mechanism is extremely smooth.
I have zero regrets on purchasing this product.
Are you an office worker with no office?
Are you a keyboard player longing to feel youth again?
Well look no further, This electric adjustabe table frame will make you the talk of the troop!
This baby has 2 motors, just like in the description above, and the best bit – the instructions come with the swankiest installation video money can buy!
As the video shows, the packaging is really well packed, considering it’s solid metal – I’ve seen plastic packaged worse.
Putting the frame together is easy peasy, note in the video however they mentioned using 1 set of screws too many times, look at the youtube comments, someone was good enough to mention which screws to correctlly use, it’s the long ones, you’ll get it.
There’s zero wiggle to the frame, and movement is really smooth. the buttons are nice and it will extend length ways really easy, which is part good part bad, because there are 2 ways it holds itself together:
1. screwing the frame to a table top
2. using the central frame screws
The latter part only uses part screw holes – by this I mean the outer metal frame has screw holes, the inner tube does not, so you are screwing into the solid metal to kinda jam it in place…. fine for claiming extendable, not fine for assurance.
That said, the former solution of screwing to table top will be more than enough for most, in my use case an electric piano will sit on top of it, so it it’s not like there’s much weight going on it, that said, later I will be putting a desk with piano draw on it so we’ll see how that goes later on.
Anyway, my final thought on this is that it’s a great frame. totalling this with a tabletop is gonna be expensive, but you pay for what you get, and I don’t regret this.
