Brilliant device, only your imagination can limit what this machine can do, I’ve done loads of projects and I haven’t even got round to using the rotary accessory ye
This laser is so easy to build and worked straight away. The only down side is it doesn’t come with any material to protect your workspace I believe all lasers are like this tho. This thing is awesome the detail it can burn into wood is honestly amazing! You won’t be disappointed.
I had a problem with my order and and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to Max from Makeblock UK for all his help sorting my issue and fixing it. I will be using this seller again very soon.
I think it is great, and look forward to many hours of use.
This is probably the best machine i have used. See YouTube reviews nearly all same the same.
I would have no problem in recommending this laser machine.
It’s pretty easy to assemble, but a couple of missing instruction steps on wiring plugs. The cable on long travel can get jammed in the side frame and catch on pulley block which limits travel. Needs a bit of refitting factory fitted zip ties to solve it. Fitted air assist which is a must for clean cutting, as is the honeycomb base.
I’ve been using this non-stop since purchase, great bit of kit, dialed in my own settings for leather, card stock etc.
I purchased the honeycomb bed, air-assist, and rotary too… All well worth the money.
Now a little grumble, not about the awesome product… But about amazon, and a caution to anyone purchasing more than one item with it…
Due to the value, you are given a code that you must give the driver on delivery. Due to there being multiple boxes, I assumed the driver had handed over everything, however he did-off with the laser cutter!
After contacting amazon, they said due to the code being used, and the driver’s status, it was now a police matter…
I had to contact local police, who chased it, next day delivery driver returned with the laser cutter and a new code.
I don’t think the driver intentionally knicked it, Amazon however were bloody useless and it was difficult even trying to talk to a real person.
Long story short, buy one… Just make sure the driver hands over everything 😉
was initially pleased with this unit and was going through the learning curves , then unit began to turn on/ off after just a few mins use. carried out a Multimeter test on the power unit, firmware updated etc etc.. as suggested by XTOOL CS all seemed good but then noticed S/N on the creative space screen appeared different to that on side of machine, waiting on feedback from XTOOL to see if this is an issue …As i brought the unit as a brand new item hope it is not a return/faulty unit thats been returned to Amazon…
Update..1st Feb
Ok so had a few problems at the start and once i got in contact with a wonderfully helpful Nicole in the CS team … managed to get to the issue i had and have got to produce some nice work ..went ahead and brought 20w machine for Christmas which has only added to the possibilities…this company is making very quick steps in bringing out newer and more powerfull machines so buy what you can for budget make full use of it ,,, but dont be surprised if in few weeks or months theres not news of something bigger …hope you enjoy as much as i am .
So I’ve had this machine for a few months now and had enough time to test it properly.
Other diode lasers I own are a Atomstack S20 pro, a Atomstack P7, a Two trees TS3 and a NEJE master 2s max and the Xtool has become my goto laser.
While I like all my lasers and they each have there own use, the xtool is better in almost every category my only regret is that I got the 10w and not the 20w (if you intend on doing loads of cutting I would advise the 20w it is worth the extra money)
If you are new to lasers there is a learning curve however its not that hard and once you have done a few cuts you will get used to it in no time. I have attached a few photos of some projects I have done on the laser basically everytime I would of got someone a gift I now just make something the machine has basically paid for itself already.
This is an awesome laser not had it long and so pleased with it. Set up with my Mac book air so easy. The things I can do with this are endless and I’m only scratching the surface
Ok so the engraving is great I have produced some beautiful images on wood it was ‘OK’ to assemble and although there were many images in the book I did feel a little abandoned during the building. I use it with an air assist and this makes the cutting very clean and the cuts were very pleasing
To be totally fair I was pushed for time and only had limited testing, all this would be helped by some info sheets on mats and settings, I know there are some limited details on the Web site but paying quite a lot of money I would like to be treated like the inexperienced user that I am.
Please xtool more concise instructions and more info for beginners, I’m kind of sick of you tube and would prefer to read and learn at an enjoyable pace.
Just as a post script, the software that ame with the d1 was better than lightburn, it was better results with the same settings..odd really…OK I’m done
19/8/22 – final update. Seller has fixed all issues noted below. I have now received the new machine and whilst it is missing a rubber stopper for one of the feet this doesn’t affect the way the machine works. The new machine came fully sealed with the manufacturers seal and did not look like a return. The seller has explained this issue comprehensively and that it was a genuine mistake which I believe. I have received a refund of the voucher amount and will receive a full refund for the old machine shortly.
Now to the machine itself. I found that the instructions were easy to follow and despite my lack of flat pack ability I was able to put it together in less than an hour and have it up and running it’s first job. I engraved one of the test materials using the presets in XCS and it run the job with no issues with a good result. I did try glass as my second test (there was helpfully 2 glass trial items in the pack) I wasn’t successful in getting a clean etch but that was entirely my fault. There was no preset for glass I’m XCS so I googled some settings and ultimately settled on one that was too slow and too much power. But that’s the point of the test materials in the pack right, I learned from my mistake and will try again. I have downloaded lightburn simply for the additional features it has over XCS but having said that XCS is very easy to use and very beginner friendly. I have a design background so lightburn made more sense. The machine is of a very high quality its sturdy and has a nice reassuring weight. It helpfully stands on edge for you to place materials or a honeycomb bed under it, just be sure to move the gantry back before you tip it on edge. The test materials included are varied and useful and give a good learning example for you to get used to it. One tip is to use the tried and tested materials settings on the xtools website. They have an array of materials already listed with the relevant settings. The d1 pro section is slightly lacking presumably because it’s quite a new machine but it has a full list under the d1 section which works equally as well on the d1 pro from my tests. Despite a shaky start the seller has gone over and above to help sort the issue out (the same can’t be said of amazon customer services) and I now have a fully functioning out of the box laser. Not tried any cutting yet but if the engravings are anything to go by, once you’ve dialed in the right settings for your material it is a cracking little machine that gives great quality images.
16/8/22 – reply from seller advising that i should return the used item and re buy it and they will honour the voucher amount. Which is all good and well, but i am expected to front the voucher amount and wait for a refund of both the old machine (refund after its returned) and the 150 voucher refund…… thats almost 1k of my own money before ive even received a working functional laser. ive given 3 stars for now until i get a replacement and my refunds!
15/8/22 – Arrived dirty and with hair and finger prints on it with the manufacturers seal broken. I have had an absolute nightmare trying to get a replacement. Not used it so can’t tell you what it’s like. It’s missing one of its feet so it can’t be used full stop. 1 sta
Great machine, wanted to use it with lightburn, updated the firmware and the machine stopped working, had to return it and now waiting on a replaceme
My first X Tool was not working as it should so I returned it and purchased another X Tool D1, this is a fantastic laser cutter/ engraver.
The customer service from X Tool is second to none, they are very helpful and professional .
Purchased in the UK, build quality is excellent and the assembly was straight forward. Ive only used a handful of times so far but the engravings are really clean and nice. Ive updated the firmware on my machine and have been using Lightburn with it absolutely fine. If you have problems with updating there is a simple switch on the motherboard that may not be in the correct position, loads of information online if you just google any issues that you may have because this is an excellent machine. PS this comes with a UK plug
