Take the weather station out the box, insert batteries or plug in to mains. The unit will automatically set itself up. Install external thermometer and all is set and ready to use, simple Can recommend this product.
I bought this to replace a similar product which used the German time standard and didn’t automatically
adjust for the change to to Summer Time. This product avoids both these problems because it uses the UK time transmitter. The large coloured display makes information easy to read. Another plus point is that setup is automatic so that, although there is a manual it is unlikely to be needed. The only slight disadvantage of the colour display is that when battery powered the display needs to be manually turned on, and then turns off automatically after a short time. Ideally therefore it should be mains powered for the best results.
Got it up and running very quickly, it found the sensor and time signal pretty quickly so 3 weeks in all very happy. Display is very clear and easy to read.
It wasn’t quite as described though and came with a 2-pin European style power plug which was a bit bizarre but I have plenty of adapters so not a deal-breaker. Would have preferred a UK plug thoiugh.
I note that some other reviewers mentioned accuracy as an issue. I found the readings to be more than adequate for my needs. But I didn’t have industrial quality measurement tools to use for comparison. During the setting up process, the remote sensor was next to the display unit indoors and both temp measurements were within 0.3 degrees and matched my digital display central heating room thermostat reading.
Very easy to set up and I would highly recommend using the mains power option over batteries for the display unit. The manuals both paper and PDF download both state that batteries are included, they are not.
The display on mains power is both bright and clear. The auto setup routine correctly detected that only one external sensor was present and switched off the round robin scan, thus the sensor was locked to the display unit without manual override intervention as suggested in the manual text.
The station this one was replacing was monochrome [B&W] with no back-light [couldn’t see it in a darkened room] and used the Germany DCF time source. I bought this replacement because it uses the UK MSF time source and for the large clear colour back-lit display.
This was a replacement for a (pretty ancient) WH1280, whose outdoor sensors gave up the ghost after many years. I am very satisfied with it. The instructions that came with the weather station are a bit basic, and I had to look at the Q&A on this site a couple of times while I was setting up: this meant that I connected to the MSF clock a few minutes after powering the weather station up! I like the graphic display: it looks a bit busy but I quickly worked out where I want to look. On battery power the display stays up for 15 seconds until it dims which is more than adequate – and anyway it would be easy simply to tap it again, or plug it in, if for any reason I wanted the display to stay bright for longer periods.
The new machine did a very good job, has a very clear display and both my wife and I have found it to be quite a pleasant looking little gadget. It came with just one external sensor and I wondered what it could be like if I had two sensors, to have one on a different side of the house. I ordered one and it was promptly delivered but I did have some trouble trying to get it to connect. I contacted the manufacturer and they responded very quickly and tried to run me through the procedure to get it working but, as I am now in my eighties, somewhat of a computer dummy, I didn’t quite manage it and the company offered a full cash refund if I sent it back to them. I did return it and was immediately given a refund of money paid for that sensor. What a good company to deal with.
Great accuracy only downside is it is dim when batteries used
It worked as soon as I put batteries in the outdoor unit and plugged in the indoor unit.
It seems to be very accurate.
I’ve had to change my review. Everything with this little weather station works now. Initially the radio clock was connecting. The manufacturer stated that will take up to 24 hrs to connect however it took 3 days which initially led me to believe that it wasn’t working. Something to note. It readily connected with a remote sensor which came with another weather station and I just learnt that I needed to change the channel on one of the sensors for it to be read by the station. So all works and works well, thank you
Works fine but remote transmitter needs carefull placement for good connection.
It arrived , sadly during the first day I realised it had a faulty sensor. I emailed Youshiko customer services at 8pm and after a couple of emails with photos I received a reply at 9pm saying a new one would be dispatched the following day. Nice product, great customer services.
Tells me all the details of the weather that I need to know.
When my old weather station bit the dust I shopped around and settled on the Youshiko, on a day when it came up on offer. I’m very pleased with and so is my optically challenged (especially first thing in the morning !) wife. The only reason I marked it down a star is because I found it difficult to get the YC9441 to latch on to the MSF Radio signal and had to do it manually in the end whereas the other 3 radio controlled clocks in our house don’t seem to have that problem. But that’s a small criticism for such a cool piece of kit.
I love almost everything about this unit. It was simple to setup, gives solid readings and no issues with communication between the indoor and outdoor units.
My big complaint however is that the vertical viewing angles are terrible. I wanted to put it on top of a bookcase (that’s maybe 5 or 6 foot tall) but as soon as you sit somewhere in the room the screen becomes almost unreadable. It has to basically be at eye level for the screen to be viewable which is a big shame
Nice piece of kit
Stuggles a bit to log onto automatic time signal but once done fine
Nice display
Seems accurate
would recommend
Like the display and the information it gives, would like an ability to freeze the weather animation !
I have yet to establish the unit’s accuracy. But it looks great, and mains power on indoor unit will save a fortune on batteries. Would be great to be able to adjust for altitude
Nice clear screen. Easy to read. Not 100% accurate There again it’s for home use
Looks and work well
Very easy to set up. It did take 24 hours to connect to the radio signal. Temperature seems to be about 0.5deg above what it should be. The outdoor sensor is not waterproof, so I have put a small cover over the top to protect it. Overall pleased with my purchase.
This is a good little item to have if you want an advanced warning, it lets you know a few hours ahead of weather changes and is usually accurate, but it cannot tell you exactly how long it will be before we see the sun again, only that it will come out within twelve hours.
The connection lead is not that long (60 CMS) so it does limit where you can put it, bit it is nice and bright and easy to see across a standard size room or kitchen.
But, make sure the outdoor sensor is in the shade and covered, it does not react well to direct sunlight or rain, so north facing under cover works best. But it will work from the end of most gardens unless you you need binoculars too the end of it. But good for a glance to see how hot it is in winter and summer, and if its likely to rain.
Mains operated so avoids battery changes – good. Connects to outdoor transmitter very easily and far better that my 10 year old one that this replaced. The clock signal also picked up quickly but I had to have a few attempts with the instructions to hand to get the date into british format. The actual weather forecast seems to give some indication of what the weather will be but like all weather forecasts is not necessarily 100% accurate. Overall extremely pleased.
This is a good weather station and the colours are brilliant. The only downside is that in the Amazon advert it does not tell you that if you only run it on a battery the colours are not visible all of the time but only when you push the relevant button. You therefore have to keep it plugged in to get all of the benefits.
I really like this weather station, it is simple to set up and has very legible. Particularly like the automatic clock which is accurate and never, apparently, needs adjusting. We’ll see after the clocks change.
This item is top notch quality as are other items they make. I would recommend this to everyone who is looking for this type of thing. What more can I say I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Perfect replacement for a more expensive now defunct weather station bought by my late husband.
I worried I might not be able to set it up but it was very simple and working both indoors and out within an hour of connecting to power.
Nothing to fault it o
It is easy to read but the display looks a little bit babyish and it seems to work well up to now. I would prefer it if it dimmed even more at night, so it’s barely on. But if you leave the display off it’s fairly easy to get a 12 second reading by touching the top of the unit.
Simple out of the box, install batteries and connect the base unit to the mains and it was up and running straight away. Accuracy of the unit is spot on for both internal and external temp’. Very impressed with the kit.
Did not arrive on day stated with prime, box not in any packaging but thankfully arrived in good condition, easy to set up, very accurate, easy to read and value for money, it is the best weather station I have purchased to date.
This is really easy to set up. Insert battery and plug it in. Within 10 minutes or so it will have picked up the signal and date and time are set automatically. Insert battery in the outside unit and place it outdoors. Mine picked up the signal instantly. It took a good few days for the forecast to display correctly. One thing I will say I think it reads slightly low maybe by 1 degree.
Very clear display. So easy to set up, just plug it in and about 7 minutes later every thing is set up. The time clock is connected to the UK signal so it displays the right time and will adjust when the clocks change. Works off the mains with battery back up. The only concern I had was that the weather forecast symbols just showed bright sun every day when it wasn’t. I had read somewhere that these weather stations take a few days for it to adjust to the weather patterns and they were right. After about seven days I was so glad to see the display had changed and it’s been okay since.
Great weather station. Attractive layout, colours and animations…Great connection to the outside transmitter…Very accurate temperature, atmospheric pressure, weather conditions, moon phase. Very pleased with the purchase. No hesitation in recommending
I bought this weather station as a replacement for my old Youshiko YC9360. Very pleased because it worked right out of the box. However I did have a couple of questions that were resolved within an hour of contacting Youshiko.
Firstly, it wasn’t clear if it was safe to use regular alkaline batteries (rather than rechargeable) in the unit when using the mains adaptor – I was assured that this was OK and would provide a backup of settings in the event of a power failure.
Secondly, on first start-up, the calendar displays in MM/DD and I prefer DD/MM. It wasn’t clear how to do this because I couldn’t read the microscopic print in the manual! This was sorted by downloading the pdf manual and enlarging the font.
The central panel which shows the “Weather Forecast” is pretty, but pretty useless. The manual itself says that it is not reliable and that you should use a met office forecast! All that said, I am very pleased because it displays what I need and the price was significantly reduced.
This is a Great Unit – easy to read and operate . Sadly , I had a Problem with the Remote Sensor connecting to the Base Station . I contacted the Supplier , Youshiko , and after further attempts , they Sent me a replacement Remote Sensor – Which I pressed into action on Weds. 10th Nov. without any further Problems !
So, Great Unit and After-Sales Service !
It is not possible to adjust/calibrate the pressure reading, is it? If it were, this product would be perfect. Mine is stuck at about 5 mb above the actual pressure.
Youshiko YC9441 (Official 2021 UK Version) is bright and clear, and easy to set-up and use. It would be perfect if it took batteries that would last a year unconnected from the mains, so that its location would be unrestricted.
This has a clear and accurate display that stays on when connected to the mains. Functions as a time, date and weather display and is as accurate as one could hope for at this price point. A useful bit of kit. Recommended.
Well designed and is so nice to have a clock that updates automatically. The display is bright and cheerful and the outside sensor shows the outside temperature and humidity.
I have fixed the unit outside in the shade and protected from rain and sunshine. The receiver unit is indoors and plugged in. The display is good and clear. The important numbers are large and easy to read. Only the barometer and the date are too small and therefore difficult to read. This isn’t being helped because these figures are thin and in green on black background.
However, this is only a minor minus point. The rest makes it a winner. Would I buy it again? Yes, without hesitation.
What a really great piece of kit. Clear bright display, love the different colours. Set up was a breeze…just switched it on and it does the rest. Lots of information indoor outdoor temp, high and low temp alert, clock/alarm, barometer, humidity, external sensor etc etc etc. Very happy customer so 5 stars from me. Go buy…..you won’t be disappointed.
Good quality and a bargain price, seem pretty accurate, well impressed.
easy to read and set up just plug it in and it sorts its self ou
Easy to set up , very accurate info easy to read at a glance
Does exactly what it says on the tin also very rapid delivery. Would recommend this weather station and its supplier.
I was given one of these as a Christmas present, I had asked for one ! All arrived safe and well. Unfortunately it started to have problems receiving the exterior signal. I followed the email instructions Youshiko sent and for a while things were fine. Unfortunately it went on the blink again. I returned it and they tested the item and sent pictures to show it was working correctly. It is now back at home and working fine. It is a neat, easy to set up, read and colourful weather station. The service and communications to and from the company were clear, polite and helpful. Overall a smart little package and a very helpful and efficient back up service.
As I write the sun is shining outside and on the weather station. Unlike the information I have been given by a certain radio weather report !
This weather station has a lovely coloured display as long as you have it plugged it and not relying on batteries. Not a problem for him. It is accurate and very simple to setup. Only had it since December so not sure about reliability at this stage but so far so good. You do have to place it at the right angle to stop any reflections and perhaps the display can be a little difficult to see in bright daylight. But in the evenings the display really is great.
I have found it to be accurate, I brought mine with one sensor which was easy to pair to the main unit.
I would recommend.
I am very happy with my weather station tells me everything I need to know I would highly recommend this to anyone worth every penny so go ahead and buy it.
Bright, easy to read display. A doddle to set up. No issues linking the remote sensor 15m away and through two brick walls.
Radio-controlled clock.
Easy to read system with 1 x remote sensor. Quick to set up and powered by plug transformer. Good value.
I love this weather station ! Received as a present for Xmas. Easy to set up – indoor station found signal from outdoor sensor quickly.
Clear and colourful graphics.
Accurate in every way.
Protect outside sensor from the rain and sun. Housed mine in a wooden champagne boxing !
There are a lot of weather stations on Amazon in the 40-60 price range so picking one can be a b it bewildering. After spending some time reading all the descriptions and the reviews I went for this Youshiko YC9441. These weather stations all do pretty much the same thing. In the end the two things that swung it for me where the display and, more importantly, the fact the time is set up to run off a British signal rather than the German one. The latter seems quite common. Having he UK time signal means the clock sets itself and you don’t have to adjust it when GMT becomes BST and vice versa.
Setting it up was a doddle. It comes with a power lead and three pin plug but I am using a USB to barrel connector so that it doesn’t hog a socket in the kitchen. I put two AAA batteries in the outside sensor and put it under the eaves of the garden shed. The sensors is not waterproof, as it needs to register humidity, so it needs to be out of direct rain and sun.
After hat I just plugged in the weather station and left it. Within an hour it had picked up the time signal and the outside temperature was being displayed correctly. That as it. You really need to keep it plugged into the mains to get the best of it because, when running on batteries only, the display cuts out to save power. It has a nice clear display and I particularly like the graphic for moon phases.
The only downside in my view is hat it does not give sunrise and sunset times. Other than that, I’m extremely happy with it.
Easy to set up, accurate readings, no hesitation in recommending.
Had a problem with outdoor sensor but received an immediate response to my initial email enquiry and a replacement part was sent out within 24hrs . Everything now fixed and back in working orde
Have this wall mount in my computer room. Excellent unit and have the remote sensor under my wooden bench in the garden, which keeps it out of direct rain. The weather station is very good layout and the numbers are big enough to be seen from eight feet away. I very pleased with it.
Overall, pleased with this item. Display is a bit garish but I’ve got used to it. Has the functions I need but I suggest they look at including rain and wing gauge options. Its main issue is poor reception from the atomic clock in Cumbria. I have to place the unit on a window ledge facing north when ever the blocks change. Our flat is on the 7th floor with no obstructions apart from one outside wall.
his weather station arrived on time and has never missed picking up outside temp like others i have had iwould recommend this item to enybody
We love our weather station at home so wanted one for our holiday lodge, but it was important to have an external sensor. This fitted the criteria we had and had a UK company behind it if there were any issues. It was really easy to set up and we liked it so much we bought another for home and threw out temperamental one in the bin. It’s not always spot on with the weather, but then neither is the Met Office! Our only problem is that the barometric pressure does not agree with our barometer where we are 1000ft above sea level. Hoping the company can help with this.
An excellent product . I have had weather stations before but this is the very best .Mains operated set itself up and with excellent clear graphics
Very pleased with your product and would recommend to anyone wanting quality weather statio
I needed a replacement weather station and the reviews for this one were good. I haven’t been disappointed. The colour display is really nice. I like the fact that the main unit can be powered off the mains as this saves the use of batteries.
This is a great weather station nice big screen, but the best thing about this weather station is you just plug it in and it does everything it self
Got it to replace an old weather station. Looks great in colour display. Connects to 2 sensors, both outside.Easy to use and read.
It is very good to follow the phase of the moon especially when the weather is over cast and cloudy and you cannot see the moo
I plugged it in, added batteries and it set itself immediately. Colorful display. When I am not in the same room I turn off mains but weather station still works on batteries. Would like to leave it on 24/7 but want it to be safe. No sign of it interfering electrically with my laptop and electronic gear so far. I am pleased with its performance so far hoping it will continue to be reliable and accurate
This has to be the best on the market.does everything for you.so simple to operate.
Plug it in place your outdoor sensor. Everything else sorts itself out. Large clear to read screen. Graphics are good and self explanatory. Came before date shown.
Easy to set up. Basically put batteries in the outdoor sensor and put it in a location. Plug in the main unit and turn it on! Once it’s found a signal everything is set up. Not recommended for a bedroom unless you want a nightlight as it doesn’t dim.
having checked the instuctions have now got it in uk date format as well
