When I received these items, I ordered four, I was very impressed. There were some issues with the order but I had a chance to examine the cameras and configured one. It was great!

One of my mounting plates was not included, but this was to be expected as I had purchased it used, like new from Amazon. I contacted customer service and inquired if a replacement was available.

They were responsive and helpful. Their suggestion was that they send me another camera. Which they did, which I love.

I would like to mention that I went over these cameras carefully upon configuration. My CCTV system is offline and secure. I don’t have the slightest worry about these cameras.

Camera has good quality picture and integrates well with BlueIris for home security. Easy to setup and install if you are familiar with IPoE cameras.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI like the secure and discrete SD card slot location protects it from the elements and potential thieves.
The body/frame is a very solid sturdy metal construction and the plastic shielding inside dome hides electronics behind camera from sun and keeps the unit more discrete.
One improvement that I noticed in the 8MP from the 5MP model is that the microphone is located in the base so there is no wire between the base an dome housing, now the dome tether is now an elastic cord.
It has an additional 12v power supply port that offers the option to “bench” setup where POE network connection is not available.
And with its sleek profile and POE connectivity with the versatility of local SD memory card or central NVR storage, this camera is a great solution for security camera system applicatio

This Anpviz 8MP security camera is a good quality POE security camera

I needed a camera fixed dome camera to sit outside and monitor my back yard and this fit the bill perfectly. Quick delivery, and the camera was very easy to set up and configure, and the picture quality is excellent. All-in-all did exactly what I wanted it for – a very good value and high quality camera.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe camera is well made. Using the SADP tool made accessing the camera really easy. I was able to set the IP address to work with my NVR. Once my NVR was able to see the camera. I was able to set the protocol to ONVIF to see the picture. Picture quality is clear and crisp. The night vision is quite good to about 30 feet. The built in microphone allows for good audio pick up for the surrounding areas.
    What I like:
    – good price
    – well made – solid construction – will hold up outside.
    – nice clear picture
    – good night vision
    – easy to mount
    – it connects directly to my NVR via POE IP. It doesn’t require the separate power.
    – it has a basic microphone built in that picks up decent audio.

    Good, solid clear picture camera

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI’ve owned many Anpviz cameras now but this is the first 4k one I have picked up that has sound. Interestingly, this camera has the best interface of all the Anpviz cameras I’ve owned. Overall, connecting it to Zoneminder is straightforward using RTSP, the IR performance of the camera is very good, the picture quality is very clear, and the addition of sound to this camera makes it an excellent and affordable candidate for any IP security camera system. The only thing to note is that the dome had to be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol because the IR picture was initially foggy but it does not devalue the camera at all. In one of the attached photos, I have my zoneminder settings if anyone needs help with the rtsp address which I got previously from customer support, who are very helpful and quick to respond.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI purchased this camera to monitor our garden for animals eating our vegetables. The camera provides both daylight and nighttime monitoring which is necessary to meet this need (damage seems to occur at night). Also, the camera provides for notifications that you can adjust using the sensitivity setting. This is also a great feature as a security camera as this area in our yard is otherwise a blind spot for home security.

The installation was fairly simple. The screws and dome are tethered so you don’t lose them during installation. The software (Guarding Vision) is easy to use and facilitates the setup well. I recommend that you just follow the setup steps carefully as I had to reset the camera to factory one time when I confused the manual instructions vs the app instructions. Also, make sure your switch is POE compatible as I tried setting up the camera inside with a non-compatible switch. This contributed to my need to start over.

The camera also provides a microphone that you can turn on or off. That allows me to listen in if I see something suspicious in our garden.

Overall, I’m very pleased with this camera’s many features and relatively simple setup. Just remember and understand that it is a POE camera so you need a wired setup.

Pictures include an HD camera shot, a zoomed shot, and a picture of the camera as it is installed on our shed.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersGreat camera so far. Images are crisp and have good brightness. Colors look very accurate. The 2.8mm lens coupled with the 8mp imager really makes for a wide shot. I’m getting double the coverage at 10x the resolution as the camera it replaced. Was pleasantly surprised that IR was built is. You can’t even see the IR LED’s during the day. The IR is a little weak, but again, I was not even expecting it to be there. Communication with ANPVIZ has been good.

If using a EXACQVISION server like me and you run into problems with the picture, disable GPU / VGA acceleration. The is likely an AMD problem but could also be an NVIDIA issue too. I have no way of testing that.

Images attached to this review are take at several time of the day to represent lighting. Full brightness (multi-cam pic) 12pm , 7 pm sunset, 10pm full dark with a little street lighting (still very dark) and 10pm with garage/driveway lights on. The side by side camera is a testament to how much smaller cameras are getting. Out with the old Bosch and in with the new 8MP Anpviz.

This camera advertises it’s IP and my software easily found it. I cannot comment on the camera finder software on ANPVIZ website. I have used something very similar to it in the past and it was quite easy to use.

As someone who previously work in the Security Industry , I can say without pause, this is a nice camera at a great price. 10 years ago I was charging integrators 800$ for 3 MP cameras. Time flies !

Great Image, easy to setup, small package is less noticeable

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersLooks like a good camera. Comes with a nice drill template that makes install a little easier. Once installed it on the house I went to my router to find the IP address and then typed that into Chrome… immediately the camera gui came up as well as the live stream. The gui is a familar interface to me, apparently all my cameras must be from the same company… they all have this same easy to use interface. For DVR I use BlueIris (also highly recommended)… The camera came up on BlueIris right away as well and it seems to be running and recording just fine. Picture quality looks good. No complaints. I recommend this camera!!

I added this 4K Anpviz camera to my Anpviz security system because I have been impressed with the other Anpviz cameras that I bought and I keep loving this 4K camera everyday, its all that I expected and more. Love the wide angle viewing and the versatility of the SD card storage of up to 256GB
Camera is very sturdy (metal body and outer casing) – love the professional look and feel (camera look and feel high quality).
I added the Camera trouble-free to my Anpviz NVR and I was able to access camera through the guarding vision software. I am completely satisfied with this Anpviz 4K camera purchase and I am 100% certain that I am going to add a few more of this camera to my Anpviz NVR system soon.

I was struggling on if this should be a 3 star or a 4 star. I decided on 4. It has a lot more features than I expected. The AI was a pleasant surpise and I really like seeing the box around people as they enter the frame. The picture quality is quite good and the colors are vibrant but not over saturated.

The FPS on the other hand, well, it doesn’t really work well at the quoted max values. The image glitches and lots of frames are dropped. I had to set the resolution lower than 4k and then dial the frame rate down to 12 fps, then the image was quite stable. For me, this is not a big deal. I don’t really notice the resolution hit for the scene it is recording.

The other downside is that the firmware is a bit too generic, it shows a PTZ in the firmware and shows as PTZ in the VMS. It obviously is not.

his review is for the Anpviz 8CH 4K PoE NVR CCTV Camera Kit 2TB version.
in the main box you get 4 cameras, one other box which contains the nvr (network video recorder) and lastly 4 never ending rolls of network cable (ok, its actually 100 feet of cat5).

    the cameras…

the cameras are the dome type, 8 mega pixel which can goto a max of 3840×2160. its a 2.8mm lens with a 108 degree viewing angle.
the casing is made from solid cast metal and the dome is strong glass. the lens inside has a collar to help reduce the ir bleed from reflecting back off the dome. this works very well, much better than some other more expensive cameras ive used. each camera comes with its own mounting screws, wall plugs, instructions and allen key for taking the cover off the camera to expose the mounting holes. if i have one gripe with the camera then its the thin wires that connect the microphone to the circuit board. there is a thick connecting wire between the base and the camera cover so they shouldn’t pull far enough apart to break the thinner wires but if they get snagged around some other internal part and then you pull the cover then they will probably snap in an instant so just be mindful of this small thing.
there seems to be a small bit of feedback also when i touched the case but once its fitted up and out the way, this isnt going to be a problem. ive included a video of this. you can also use the cameras on a 12v power pack and connect them to another recording system ( i did try this but im not going to get into that here, this review is for the kit) but you’ll probably going to be using the cameras powered from the included nvr which will be over the 48v poe AF standard. i had to search a little for the type of poe used but ive included a screen grab to show what it is.
i poured a little bit of water onto the dome glass and was pleased that water beads didn’t hang around for too long before rolling off.
image quality is pretty darned impressive, clear and sharp and so is the audio. obviously the higher the settings then the less time you get to record for but its pointless having a system that records for weeks but looks like it was filmed on a 2004 nokia smart phone at 2fps (in my opinion). i much prefer the constant 24/7 recording over motion detection as ive been bitten by its short falls before. next doors cat would trigger my camera if it sat on my drive cleaning its privates but the moment someone decided to take a fancy to something id left out by mistake then the camera acted like it was mates with the ne`er do well and didn’t see a thing. for this reason, i always go 24/7 and full quality.
im gob smacked by how good these cameras are in night mode ! smooth, clear and no dropped frames at all.

the network cable is erm, network cable ?!?!?! not much to say about it other than i was a little disappointed by it being only cat5 BUT as the cameras and nvr are both 100mbit anyway then there is absolutely no need for anything better. plug it in and leave it alone. im not sure how long it would last outdoors un covered but for me, it isnt a problem as i have conduit running my wires around the exterior of the house so its covered and away from the elements.

    the nvr…

smart, small and lots of features. its black, non assuming and quite heavy for its size. i have the 2tb version which means it can record for a LOOOOOOONG time before it has to cycle around and delete old recordings. the h265 codec makes a massive difference to space used and you really should leave it on if you intend to record 24/7.the menu system is really to use, included is a mouse but NO HDMI LEAD ??? i dont know why company’s miss this vital wire out, its needed to get up and running !!! id like to see a few rubber feet included in the box too so the user can fit them to the bottom of the box. as it is it likes to slide around too easily and has potential to scratch surfaces where its placed. when you first plug the box in and connect it to your display, you’re greeted with a wizard who unlike the one in oz, is very helpful and walks you through setting up the nvr. i cant go into every setting on this box as there is loads to play with, if you lay it all out, plug it all in and have a mess about the worst you’ll have to do is factory reset and let friendly wizard help you again. the menu system explains itself. the box is highly configurable to the point of being able to directly connect it to a modem without a router if you really really have to. i wont go over that either as its a bit of a niche setting that most people wont need but its an example of how things are catered for. i do think it would have been nice to have wifi connection to your home network built in but its not the end of the world. i did connect to my box via the web gui and everything worked fine for me, kind of just like being in front of the box with the settings available. its great to see a proper wd purple hd in there too, it gives confidence in the life span of the kit ! a small thing i liked was the poe info page. it tells you how many watts each camera is slurping and what “budget” is left over. remember whilst this kit comes with four cameras, the box and support 8 cameras so you can add more as and when needed.
yes there’s a few small niggly things that didn’t float my boat. the rubber feet, the cta5 cable, the unnecessary amount of wastage in supplying 42324 allen keys, instructions and packaging but i can totally understand why its done the way it is. its simply a box holding individual cameras and an nvr thrown together into a kit.

do i like this kit? yeah, its great and at 288 (at time of review) it sure beats the “big boys” single camera with an ongoing subscription in value for money.
ive had quite a few camera systems over the years and i must admit, anpviz have surprised me with this offering. it really does go to show that paying mega $$$ isnt needed. you can get great quality and features for an affordable price.

The angle I have mine mounted kind of makes all the IR light from the camera point at the ground in front of the camera and not further than 30 feet away, which is especially an issue because some of my yard is lit while some of it is not. If you use this to watch a big area, consider buying a bullet-style camera, not a turret one like this. Or, you can buy an IR floodlight, and then you’ll be good.

My husband needed a new cctv for his business. He thought Amazon would be the best option after getting ridiculous quotes from cctv installers. The old cctv we had was aging real fast and needed to be upgraded so he decided to go for this system.

After looking at other helpful reviews about plug and play systems it really was as simple as that.

Everything was included in the box my husband started the work to get it installed. This CCTV only needs 1 wire run to each camera. The old system needed 2 wires so this was another big plus. My husband said this was really easy to install and connect up.
    Here are the steps.
Once all is taken out the box you will find
1 Network recorder with the power cables.
    4 cameras.
    4 grey wires.
    1 hdmi wire.
    1 Small computer mouse.
HDMI wire goes from the network recorder to the back of the Tv/monitor.
Take 1 grey wire plug it in to the camera then in to the back of the network recorder(port 1) then repeat this process for all the cameras so port 1,2,3 and 4 should all have camera wires attached to them. Plug the mouse in to the back of the network recorder in to the usb port. Plug the power adapter in to wall then in to the back of the network recorder and the system will come alive. Once systems comes alive it will ask you to create a password so please don’t forget this. You can also set up pattern password. Follow the few steps and then sit back and admire your new security system.
Each camera can be opened for the lense to be adjusted to the position you need, this will be self explanatory once you open the camera.
All installation instructions are inside the box but my husband said he hardly needed to use it.

What a difference it makes, our old cctv was 4mps this one is 8mps it’s like night and day the image is very crisp, clean and sharp. The details this system picks up and shows on the monitor really is amazing. All 4 cameras have built in mics and picks up sound really well.

We are very happy we made this purchase, we also saved a few hundred pounds buying the cctv and self installing.

Check all the features this system has as it really does have everything that is needed. Using the mobile app to remote view the cctv system whilst away from the premises is one of the favourite features.I can see how my husband is getting on and most importantly if he is safe when working late.

    Conclusion
Highly recommend this system to anyone looking to protect not only their business premises but this system can be used for residential purposes if required. The pictures uploaded really don’t do any justice but will give anyone interested an idea of how it looks.

    Happy with this cctv system

8CH 4K PoE NVR 8MP CCTV Camera Kit 2TB HDD Complete Kit

This review is for the 8CH 4K PoE NVR 8MP CCTV Camera Kit 2TB HDD Kit, this comprises the main NVR along with 4 x 4K dome cameras and all associated accessories needed for a complete home / office security setup.

I already have several Anpviz cameras from 5MP to 8MP and the PTZ versions and as these are all Hikvision OEM cameras the hardware / software combination is really good.

I’m going to split this review up into sections, the NVR and cameras, the cameras can be bought separately and have some really good software already installed for standalone cameras.

4K 8CH IP PoE Surveillance Camera System Network Video Recorder 2TB HDD

The hardware comes complete with all the necessary accessories and on close inspection (see photos) the 2TB HDD is a western digital purple with a HikVision sticker on it, so not only are the cameras Hikvision OEM but the NVR is also, this represents in my opinion great value and something that’s well built and quiet in operation.

After connecting all the cables and connecting the HDMI to the monitor and powering up the NVR the system boots into a wizard for doing an initial setup. The router automatically gave the records a network IP and you may want to assign this as static in your router to manually assign the recorder with a static IP address.

The device did not automatically detect the optimum resolution for my Full HD monitor but going into the general settings you can configure the resolutions for both HDMI and VGA port (see screen shots), note that if you select an incorrect resolution that’s not supported by your monitor the system will revert back to the previous resolution if you don’t confirm.

Once the resolution was set and date/time was all configured the next step was to initialise the 2TB hdd drive, against going into the settings there is an option to initialize the HDD this clearly destroys any data on the disk to proceed with caution.

Once the HDD is configured you can simply plug in the supplied cameras and the system will automatically pull them in with the defaults setup for 4K for the primary stream and VGA for the secondary stream. This process was seamless and worked right out of the box without any configuration needed.

What was also nice is that the NVR also found my independent IP cameras (mostly Anpviz) which were already configured on my network and offered to import them directly into the setup. I set up a couple of my cameras and to my surprise once added they worked like a charm without any configuration. (see images)

There is a raft of options on the PVR and I’ve only had a brief view through them but all the options for timed setup, OSD, motion detection and privacy masks are all there and if you’ve used NVR software or BlueIris software you will know what I mean.

The configuration options for how you would like to display your camera streams is actually really nice and you can configure multiple screens with multiple combinations.

There are options for PTZ if you connect a PTZ camera (I have one) and you can set up presets and patrol with multiple patterns.

The motion detection can be enabled / displayed for each camera and the sensitivity can be adjusted again per camera.

You can also configure the disk quota per camera so for example a camera that perhaps you have out on the front drive like myself that continually captures cars driving by you may wish to assign a larger quota to have a greater recording period.

The list of configurations available is enormous and you can spend hours fine tuning the settings to get the best performance out of the device, having said that the system works out of the box with fantastic results with virtually no adjustments.

The images I’ve added to this review don’t really show the quality of the streams but trust me when I say the quality from the 4K cameras is absolutely fantastic (see the camera section review).

Overall as a stand alone NVR recorder the device works quietly and efficiently and I have no worries about recommending it. Please understand I was a BlueIris user but this little device works just as well but is a stand alone device that consumes much less power than my BlueIris PC that always had to be switched on so I’m really happy with the hardware.

    Remote Access Issue
The one issue I did have was when accessing the NVR remotely through a web browser was that I could not access any of the video streams, this could be that I needed to install a plugin for the video feed but I couldn’t figure this out. It’s not a big issue for me as I have a monitor, keyboard & mouse plugged in but for someone remote accessing this device this could be a potential issue, I shall reach out to Anpviz support to see if they can help with it.

4K Cameras (Supplied with the package) Independently Reviewed

Please note the review of the camera below is done as if setting this up as a standalone unit as this model can be purchased independently of the kit.

    Initial Configuration.
The camera as stated is POE and when I plugged this into my POE Switch the camera immediate connected to my network and DHCP gave it an IP address, I used the SADPTool to identify the IP address and went straight to Google Chrome and typed in the IP address and was greeted with the login screen (See images). Please note the initial admin password is 123456 and you should immediately change this once logged in.

The resolution and most of the settings out of the box seemed very good and I had to do very little configuration, the switch from day to night mode works very well and if using the camera indoors the switch from day to night when switching on and off lights in a dark room is almost instant.

    Settings (See Images)
There is a ton of settings and initially can be overwhelming but with some persistence you soon get used to where everything is, the video settings FPS can be set as high as 60 FTS if you lower set resolution and at 1080p at 60 FPS the image smoothness is absolutely stunning, I’ve many camera round the house and external and non have domed 60 FPS so if image fluidness is your thing then this camera rocks at 60 FPS.

The Camera supports both H264 & H265, 265 being they must better protocol these days for better quality along with much better compression.

There are all the normal options in the setup for Network protocols and Onvia which by the way was enabled with security and allowed me to import this directly into my Blue Iris setup without any issues.

    Event notifications (See Images)
The event notifications for the camera again has a mass of settings and can be set up on schedules as well as detection areas which can be setup with different sensitivity for night time.

    Human Detect (See images)
The human detection which is under the Event section has the ability to be switched on for Day or Night and can be used to smart detect human / person camera activity, there is the ability to set the sensitivity and set schedules as well as trigger recording or snapshots. When I tested this I could see the camera draw a box round me when I moved into the camera, this box can be switched on or off.

Really nice hardware and really good quality for the price point.

I have bought 6 of them and installed them in our building. we are fairly happy with the result. 3840 X 2160 @ 30fps is very decent resolution for $80 a pop. It has ONVIF support and lots of other options through web GUI.

Don’t expect it to be Bosch or high-end HikVision. You can get 4 of these for the price of one.

One of the Cameras I bought in Oct 2019 and did not work, I emailed the support and got a response right away. They replaced it after I sent them some pictures.

I am happy with the product and services they offer. Highly recommended.

    Nice Cameras

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the second anpviz PoE camera I’ve purchased and been happy with. Picture quality is great, setup is easy, and it gets along well with my ANNKE NVR, owing to ONVIF compatibility.

As a CCTV professional, I have worked with a lot of cameras and professional network video recorders. Cameras are getting better and better and costs are dropping, so I thought I would give this one a try and see how a $95 4K 8MP camera would compare to the bigger boys.

Installation on the hardware side was simple, with a really nice touch — the umbilical cord that you use for the Ethernet connection has a little “activity” LED that is really handy for setup. The theft screws are a standard size, it comes with a tool, and orientation is simple and flexible. There were no issues with powering this camera from a variety of network switches, including a Ubiquiti Unifi PoE switch or a Razberi server with a built-in network switch that also ran the Salient CompleteView Video Management System (VMS). I did not test audio, or the software that comes with the camera.

IP cameras usually ship with a default IP address. In this case it was supposed to be 192.168.0.123, as published in the instruction sheet that comes with the camera. You can use a browser if your computer is on the same network schema and simply type in the address to access settings and change the address to something that works for your system. I was connecting this camera to a commercial system and needed to configure the camera’s IP address, but my camera came with DHCP enabled so the default address did not work. I had to use a network IP scanner, find the camera, access it, disable DHCP, and program in my address. It isn’t difficult for network professionals, but this would scare off many casual users just looking for a good camera at a great price.
As far as appearance, I am not crazy about the large IR LED array around the lens. I understand they are there for night vision, but these called attention to the orientation of the camera, partially negating the deterrent effect provided by dome cameras.

And it is a good camera otherwise. I replaced a 3MP Hikvision camera with this one and the higher resolution was noticeable. Low light performance was comparable to the Hikvision, and the camera has a lot of configuration settings. This camera is made by Hikvision, and the software is somewhat de-featured. For example, there’s a configuration screen for a privacy mast which allows you to block off a sensitive part of the picture. The configuration screen is there but the feature is not.

I have removed one star for configuration issues that would make an inexperienced user pull out their hair, but otherwise this is a great little camera at a great price.

Setup was very easy and even more so when using POE. I plugged into a normal active POE port and scanned the network to find the camera. If you’re been around ip cameras for a while the interface will be pretty familiar. A pretty common one where it has all the controls for PTZ when of course this is a fixed camera. I did very little configuration beyond disabling the connection methods I wasn’t using. The RTSP url rtsp://192.168.1.X/h264 gets you a stream you can use in NVRs or other software. I get a solid feed from this camera that connects quickly. Picture quality is great and I’ve even used it for a live stream of me in my shop. Mounting just involves taking the dome off and screwing the base to your surface then replacing the dome. It’s well made with a metal body and I appreciate the bungee holding the dome to the base. It’s neat to see that not only is there a good seal they included a sizable desiccant packet to take care of any moisture. I will note after about a month there was either a small amount discoloring around the LEDs which surprised me. I’m not sure if it’s the plastic reacting with the infrared light or a small amount of moisture but it didn’t affect the picture as the lens piece has a good seal. All around I’m happy with the camera and am looking into more 4k ones.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersFirst of all, I want to mention that another reviewer said this security camera lacks a bracket for mounting and the lens cover must be taken off to mount. I have seen several of this type of security camera from different manufacturers and they were all built the same way – the security cover is the lens cover, it must be taken off to mount the camera. That gives the camera a slimmer profile and makes it more secure. It’s just this style of camera, it has nothing to do with this particular model or manufacturer, if you don’t like that I recommend getting a different style of camera (e.g. non-security turret style).

That being said, this camera appears to have great video quality, especially for the price. Appears to have relatively low ghosting and compression noise for a camera this price, and I haven’t noticed any significant artifacts in my testing so far.

In addition to good image quality, it appears to be built very solid. The housing is entirely metal and the security cover is made of thick clear plastic. It includes a cover-removal tool (thankfully it uses hex instead of phillips screws so they won’t strip as easily) and also plenty of weatherproofing materials for the RJ45 connector that WORK – I have had one of their cameras outside for 6 months in the cold, rainy Seattle weather without a junction box for the connector and haven’t had a single problem. It even includes a quick-start guide AND a manual which is a rarity these days. Anpviz is really quite thoughtful.

I picked mine up for $76 (Cyber Monday special) and couldn’t be happier. In the AI department, it’s pretty basic, there’s no IVS/IVE-like features like tripwire, facial detection, ANPR/LPR, etc. but these are pretty rare in cameras as they are often done in software these days with VMS like Blue Iris or Xprotect. It has motion detection area selection, and also has ROI (although I’m not sure if it’s been fully implemented). It has a micro-SD card slot for storage, but I have not tested this so I’m not sure if it’s continuous recording backups or (max) 30-second clips (it’s not a Wyze cam – my guess is the latter). I thought a hole in the case that looks like it’s for a microphone, but it doesn’t have one so I think it’s probably a carry-over from another model

Has your typical image adjustment features:
    Brightness
    Contrast
    Saturation
    Sharpness
    BLC
    HLC
    2D Noise Reduction
    3D NR
    White Balance
    Defogging
    Can flip horizontally and vertically

As well as one interesting one I don’t think I’ve seen called “anti_human_face” (?). Also, it has both day AND night shutter speed adjustments from 1/10 to 1/10000

What’s best about the camera, as with any 4K camera, is the digital zoom. You can zoom WAY in with minimal distortion and still make things out like writing of license plates, etc. I haven’t mounted it outside yet, but I’m eager to do it soon so I can see how far away I can make things out without optical zoom.

I don’t know how it’s possible, but my Xprotect VMS with 4 cameras recording continuously (1x4MP, 2x5mp and this 1x8MP camera) is actually managing to record the 8MP ~6000Kbps VBR h.264 stream at the full 15FPS the camera maxes out at. I was expecting something like 8-10FPS max. Very pleasantly surprised!

I’ve included some screenshots I’ve taken of the firmware and also a succulent I’ve used for adjusting the image settings (the succulent is in an 8″ pot about 6 ft away). Please note, the pictures on the succulent are zoomed WAY in on this little plant. I was trying to simulate recording something with detail far away while still being inside the house.

Overall a great buy. Will add more later after I’ve mounted it outside and done more testing. I’m very excited to see 4K detail outside!

Some general observations that might help others:
Milestone Xprotect required me to set to local DNS only – could not configure ONVIF with Google DNS as backup in my domain environment (this is probably better anyway, as I do not use Danale). If you’re having trouble getting it to adopt to an Xprotect VMS check your camera’s DNS settings

Camera was set to static IP, but was recognized immediately using Hikvision’s SADP tool – it was already set to an IP on my subnet, so I only had to change one field (I wanted it out of my DHCP pool)

Upgrading to latest firmware was absolutely painless and I’ve noticed no issues with the most current firmware (09-25-2019 firmware as of writing). The firmware is on the anpviz website, it’s under “Support->Firmware->Uprime Series” and sorted in ascending order.

Support has always been very good through Anpviz, they are helpful, friendly, and eager to be of assistance.

Update: I was having an issue with moisture inside the camera. There was an included desiccant packet which I thought was just for shipping, so I threw it away before I installed the camera. I contacted support when I noticed the IR was reflecting off the moisture inside the camera, and they mentioned that’s what the desiccant was for (!)

So I bought a 5-pack of desiccants on Amazon and put 3 packs inside the camera opposite of the lens using some double-sided tape. Seems like the issue has completely gone away.

Was only a problem at night, but you can see in color night shots the moisture would reflect external light sources making the camera hazy even if the IR was off. Apparently the IR can help dry the moisture, though, so be sure to turn night vision on after you install your desiccant packs (or just leave the one that’s included w/ the camera inside unlike me).

    — see new before and after photos.

    Hope you enjoy the camera!

Skimps on price, not on quality -- but make sure to plan for potential moisture issue

Nice quality camera for a bargain price, added to existing system, ordered 2 black cameras but received one black one white, didn’t matter for this occasion though.

It was the price that attracted me to this 2MP camera, and also the fact that the mode could be changed using a dip switch instead of having to load software. The instructions and were really easy to follow and the construction of the camera body is very sturdy, it was described as black but this is definitely dark grey. It was easy to adjust the angle for the camera and it even had an allen screw to lock it in position, something that a similar bodied camera I had previously bought was lacking.
I also really liked the fact it came with a self adhesive template for drilling the screw holes, I have struggled in the past to do this. It took me about 20 minutes from start to finish to install and was recording footage without delay.
I have attached a daytime and nighttime image to demonstrate the quality.
I am more than happy to recommend this camera if like me you are on a budget, it is very straightforward to install. This wasn’t the cheapest on the day I bought it but the other feedback I read before buying convinced me it was the best option and I was not disappointed.

Great camera for the money - works well with Hikvision DVR
