Good set of knives here with just about everything you’d need for everyday use in the kitchen. I liked the fact they came with a knife block, much safer than keeping them in a drawer.
The knives are sharp (out of the box) and appear well made. Hard to say how long they’ll stay sharp, but I guess that’s what knife sharpeners are for. As they have wooden handles I’m hand washing only but that’s not a problem as they wash up very quickly.
Box and packaging is decent.
Really sharp knives, and in a well presented box. The overall quality and finish is very good.
This is a good looking and comprehensive set of knives for the kitchen, when pired with a sharpener.
The block is well made and nice looking.
The knives are a good selection and I do not imagine situations when they will not suffice for 90% of people and home chefs.
There is a large and tall knife, which I prefer for slicing and chopping vegetables. It has sufficient clearancefor the knucles when slicing fast. A bread knife which behaves reasonably well, and a not so tall knife which work well enough for meat. Also a few smaller ones which are always useful.
They can be cleaned easily and quickly.
They are sufficiently sharp out of the box, but they dull quicker than others I have.
For this reason, it would be a good idea to get a decent sharpener as well, to keep them functional, and at this price perhaps they could have included one in the box.
This knife block set is beyond amazing! Firstly let’s discuss the sheer beauty of the wood/metal combo!! It is quality & style with high performance!
I have had knife block sets historically but nothing compares to this one! I love the block itself with the heavy & beautiful wood & the expensive looking metal name plate on the front…..ooozes quality & it looks amazing in my kitchen!
So you get 5 knives all of which are so sharp using them to cut requires literally no hand pressure what so ever so if you have difficulties with hands re: arthritis, joint stiffness etc these are great!
I’m definitely no chef but using these made me want to chop everything in my fridge like a pro on master chef!!!
The handles are solid & will not come away from the blades & the blades themselves have the BILL.F monogram on each one.
The description does recommend hand cleaning these knives & to be honest I absolutely agree, the handles are wood after all & I left one in washing up water too long & it changed the colouring on the handle slightly….this is not a slur on the product just my stupidity again I stress these are wood handles. With a professional set up like this for peanuts in price, just under 60 SHOCK (I would pay more!) why wouldn’t you want to look after them so they last forever…..which I believe they absolutely will!
I have them pride of place in my kitchen & also a side note on the design they sit beautifully in a corner!
You will NOT be disappointed with the look or quality – A+++++++++++
“Long Story Short”
Knives are razor sharp
Nice stand/holder
All knives are well designed and well sharpen but will require sharpening at some point
Not an average set, well made and good quality set
Value for money 10 out of 10
This knife set is super. Each knife feels beautifully balanced in the hand and are sharp so makes it easy to control when cutting or chopping food whether it’s meat or veg. The handles are easy to grip and the knives are very well made. Easy to clean. The wooden block makes it easy to keep everything tidy and is of good quality. Recommended
For 54.99 (with an additional 10% voucher at the time of writing), you’ll get a good quality knife set that looks sleek and sharp.
The knives are good at what they do but the only thing I found strange is that there are two options available to pick from and they are actually meant for the other option. So I went with the wooden handle but received a stainless steel handle. This wouldn’t be an issue normally but the prices do differ.
Other than that, the knives are of a good quality make and are worth the price.
After a few weeks with the Bill.F knife set and block – I am won over. The set contains five knives and are housed in an attractive and somewhat solid wooden block. The range of knives is particularly useful as they provide for a variety of uses around the kitchen. The two smaller knives (paring and utility) are excellent for working with vegetables and salad – as well as being good for carving meat from the trickier parts of a chicken. The chef’s knife and the slicing knife (names I’m not entirely familiar with but taken from the product description) are good for bigger tasks – cutting up meat – including slicing a roast or tackling bigger vegetables such as potatoes or cauliflower. Last but not least – the bread knife – a solid (and again, quite large) knife capable of tackling loaves big and small.
The knives are stainless steel – with either solid metal handles – or (as in my case) walnut wood handles. They are comfortable to hold and use – and well balanced. The wooden handles negate washing in a dishwasher – although personally i don’t like washing any sharp bladed knives (all metal or not) in a dishwasher – preferring to wash them by hand.
They are still new – and as such retain their original keen edges. I imagine in time I will be using a sharpener with them – however that’s only to be expected for working knives in the kitchen.
For a reasonable price this set of knives provides for a range of uses in the kitchen. I’d only want to add a small serrated blade knife (e.g. Kitchen Devil) for cutting certain things that seem to fare better with a serrated edge.
Absolutely great set, just the basic knives I need in the kitchen. The knives and block are well designed and look very professional. Comfortable handles, light to use but scarily sharp. I find this five knives are all I actually need. Looks classy so sits perfectly on my counter top and the quality of each knife is fantastic, all super sharp and stylish. Very useful and quality set of knives. We use them every day and they are great.
This set includes;
chef’s knife 20 cm, bread knife 20 cm, slicing knife 20 cm, utility knife 11 cm, paring knife 9 cm and black walnut wooden block.
The wooden block looks really smart and the metal handled knives complement it nicely. These knives are very sharp, I found this out because I cut myself quite badly just before washing them up. This is no fault of the manufacturer- it just shows how good they are, but be careful. They cut well and they are comfortable to hold.
Knives right now are expensive so getting this set for 50 quid seems like really good value.
The wooden block itself is really good, it holds the knives well, its weighty and looks excellent.
The knives are all sharp and there’s a good selection as well.
Overall, five stars.
WALNUT WOOD SOLID KNIFE BLOCK SET WITH 5 VARIOUS KNIVES. TOUGH AND STURDY FREE STANDING BLOCK. STAINLESS STEEL KNIVES WITH ERGONOMIC WALNUT WOODEN EASY TO HOLD HANDLES. SET COMPRISES OF 20CM CHEF KNIFE, 20CM CARVING KNIFE, 20CM BREAD KNIFE, 12.5CM UTILITY KNIFE AND A 9CM PARING KNIFE.
Brilliant knives. Great weight and excellent quality.
Incredibly sharp too. What’s not to like
After many years of cheapish knives I decided to get myself some good quality ones and these do not disappoint. I didn’t know knives could be so sharp (intimidating at first, having only ever used sharpish knives). They are a pleasure to use and become an extension of your hand. The weight and balance is perfect. They slice and dice whatever is put in front of them, effortlessly.
Oddly, I ordered the ones with the wooden handle, and got the ones with the steel handle. The images don’t match their descriptions. The knives themselves are decent quality, but certainly not the best out there. Being stainless steel, they are prone to getting dull so need almost constant sharpening.
I tend to be the main cook in our household and have been cooking for many years and i have had the same set of knives for over 20 years that does show you get what you pay for.
This brand is new to me but it certainly feels like a good one. The knife block is very well made and this combined with the finish on the knives shows its a quality product. The handles are hollow but each one does have a nice balance to it. Out the box these are razor sharp and will shave the hairs off your arm. Time will tell how well these hold an edge but initial assessment is that for the price its an outstanding se
This knife block set is attractive and well presented. The wooden block, with its cut off corner and metal trim has a smart and distinctive appearance, and the wooden handled knives present well too.
The knives are sharp on arrival, they’re well balanced, look smart, and the handles feel comfortable to hold, but you can tell that they’re not the best quality.
The blades aren’t completely smooth, looking closely at the knives I received, I can see that there are little nicks missing along the edges. Not something you’d expect from better quality knives. They’re serviceable enough and at the price point, these are OK, but in the medium/ term I’ll probably end up swapping the knives for better quality ones.
I like the block a lot.
What an excellent set of knives this is by BILF. I will be honest, I have never heard of this brand, so had no idea what to expect. This was such a pleasant surprise and I couldn’t be happier with the quality that this set under 50 offers!
The knives come in a lovely branded box with two separated boxes contained within it. One for the stunning knife block, and the other for the knives itself. The knives all had a card protector along the blade and a plastic tip for the tip of the knives. Adequate safety measures here. I was really impressed by the excellent range of different knives, no two knives are the same and each have their own purpose. So if you’re a chef or perhaps consider yourself one in the kitchen, this set would be perfect for you!
I was really impressed by the knife block too. It’s made from real wood which is impressive as in the past I’ve had a plastic knife block disguised as wood and this was so tacky. This knife block is truly stunning and a true representation of craftsmanship. I really loved the dark wooden finish, certainly a premium aesthetic here which would make any guest stare in awe of this knife set. The set also includes everything you could possibly need to cook with, all in one place. I am also very fond of the wooden handles as they have a really stunning colour!
Overall, an excellent knife block set by BILF, each knife is super sharp and perform excellently. Great handle and grip and not to mention elegant build quality. 5 stars!
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
Really supprised at the quality of these knives considering the price. Good knives tend to be very costly, this entire set and holder cost less than some of my very small individual knives – so I wasn’t expecting too much. Obviously they’re not on par, but they are very good.
The knives are fairly well balanced, very sharp (will be interested to see how often they need sharpening, but so far so good). The build quality is very solid and the handles feel tactile and easy to maneuver.
The look is where these really impressed me however – the walnut finish looks soft and very premium, well above what I expected for the price point. Not a big fan of the branding on the steel plate but it’s discreet enough to ignore.
Overall, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Great se
Currently reduced to 50, these were 60 when I selected them.
I have to admit, I’m not sure if I would have chosen them at 50, wondering about the quality. The holding block looks (and is) such good quality I was concerned the value would be focused on that rather than the actual knives.
However, the 5 knife set are very good. Well made, lovely dark wood handles that are well balanced in the hand and comfortable. I can’t find any drop in production value with them.
There are a good selection of sizes and uses too, the 2 smallest are probably the most versatile and will be your everyday knives.
The wood on the handles is not identical, and can almost look like a mix of different sets, but the laser etched marks on the blades tie them as a set.
They do look a very impressive set in the metal plaqued block, like a set costing 2 or 3 times this price.
I absolutely love this knife block set. It is well made and superb quality. The walnut wood looks so smart in my kitchen. You get 6 different knifes for different uses. I especially love the bread knife – it just cuts through so easily and evenly! They are easy to grip and cuts through all food easily.
It’s quite pricey but a great price compared to other knife sets on the market. They seem durable and robust. I would happily recommend them!
