After a break-in, I decided to try this. I’ve got one at the front watching my car and one at the back watching where the previous break in happened. So far no problems.
so simple to fit and led light shows up really well at nigh
Loved that they where so like the real cams. Used as a deterrent, and very affective
My first one was 5 this one almost 10 therefore I’d rather go for the real working one at around 30 to 40 you’ll still need to install by drilling in to wall!
The camera looks so real and so easy to install
This is the second one of these I have purchased. This one is for the rear of the property. What I have done is to wire in a little separate switchable AAA battery carrier as I didn’t fancy climbing up replacing batteries every few weeks. This way I just switch the camera on at night.
It looks the real thing – battery life wait and see – mine is under a car port and really out of the main weathe
This was definitely a great buy, it looks exactly how a real one does
For 8 that was unbelievable
But a product like this says alot, it proves we’re getting screwed with a lo
It may be fake but I have to say it really does look like a genuine camera.
Genuinely looks like the real deal, quick and easy to install.
This item is easy to install all it takes is 3 screws but the screws that come with the item the heads rounded easily thankfully I had others to hand. The screw to take out the led mechanism to install the batteries is small and fiddly but once its done its done. The camera is mainly plastic so I don’t think it would be that weatherproof so thankfully it was installed inside overlooking my flat.
The fake Camera looked realistic easy to fit as we had problems with our neighbours damaging the garden this has now stopped.
Cheap but works well and looks like a real camera.
I used higher capacity rechargable batteries in mine which have a lower 1.2V voltage, which makes the flashing red light less noticeable.
It is quite tricky to fix to a wall if you are up a ladder but that is just the nature of where these devices need to be mounted.
Easy to fit. I had 2 at my last property and was more than happy with the security they provided. I recently moved home & bought another one as I think they’re great!. Little hack I learnt from another buyer’s review is to drill a small hole in the wall ,put the wire in and a bit of filler or silicone around the wire and it actually looks like there wired in, great hack I had the police knock on my door once asking if I could check the footage on my security camera , they’d been a robbery in the area and they wondered if the camera had picked up any footage of the incident , so they must look very realistic indeed.. I told them ,they’re dummy security camera’s.
amazing camera’s they do the job and battery life 3 months.
Very happy with the product and service would definitely buy again.
Simple to put together with battery and screw to the facia
Used it for my work with children, pretending it was from Santa to see who studies hard and behaves week. It worked!!!
Got these to mount above my sensor security lights. There is a blinking LED light if you decide to put batteries in, but I haven’t bothered with that. As well as being a pain to access the camera’s because of where I mounted them, I also don’t want to give the game away if I’m seen replacing the batteries every few months. Two things I did do was add a dummy electrical wire that appears to run into the house to give a more realistic look. I also put black insulation tape over the printed text on the cam, which obviously can’t be seen from a distance.
Well worth the cheap price if it makes any would-be-burglar think twice about having your home on their hit list. Every little deterrent helps.
Easy to fit, looks like the real thing, flashing red led very convincing. Can’t really comment on battery life or weatherproofing, but still going strong after several weeks
Not had it long enough to say how weatherproof it is, and haven’t fitted the battery, as cameras generally don’t have flashing lights. Very short black rubber tubing, but managed to wedge some 2-core wire securely in place. Easy to put up, looks okay from even a short distance, would buy another one.
For the price it is a great product and hopefully a deterrant to those who it should be.
Batteries last a while as only powering a small red led, nice touch. Imitation cable going into wall also. Overall happy with this product.
I’m really impressed with this product. It arrived swiftly, next day delivery. And it looks the buisness as a deterent. The hardest part was drilling the holes into the brick work. After a lot of sweating it was installed and it looks the buisness. I also received a cctv sticker which was a nice touch. I ordered a bigger sticker aswel to add to the set up. I have this set up on the front of my my house pointing at my driveway. I’m definitely ordering another for the back of my house. My only advice is to fit the camera up high enough so no one can see it is made out of plastic. Mine is is fitted at the side of my bedroom window so I can easily change the batteries when I need to. I don’t usually post reviews for a product but this was an exception, excelle
I guess this isn’t too bad for a fake camera but honestly I am not too confident that a potential thief wouldn’t figure it’s a fake one.
They’ve only been up a couple of weeks , I paid for the longest lasting AA batteries I could get because I don’t really like the thought of going up a ladder every time I need to replace them, but it looks very realistic (to me anyway) and the red led light flashes second or so , adding a bit more realism. The only downside for me was the flimsy bit of fake cable coming out of it was loose and small so I had to glue it to the base to make it look like it actually goes somewhere, even then you can’t really see it. Other than that I’m happy so far , I think if someone was to walk up the path to see that pointed at them flashing that I would be a good deterrent.
With my rechargeable batteries inserted the flashing light looks real ; to reach the batteries I have to remove the camera , insert new batteries and re screw back in position in six months : three burglaries before cctv none afterwards ( 8 cameras in the street now )
Great recommendation, works fine but wind caps come off and battery needs looking a
The dummy camera is plastic looking, so I would fix it high up where the plastic nature of it would not be so obvious.
peace of mind, I know it’s false but burglars dont.
The red light flashes but does not light up like others do. Bought as a deterrent and well made. So does the job.
I good dummy apart from flashing led, so I took apart and cut the masking to the pretend IR light cluster and substituted the flashing led for a low power red one and placed behind the moulded led cluster with a 220 ohm resistor in series (obviously) which when viewed at night looks like night vision cctv camera’s ( a low red glow which lasts approximately 5weeks)
Looks great but within 2 weeks the top hood/shell fell off and then the battery’s went so I’m assuming because water may have got in as the top fell off and can’t seem to fix it back on!
Great value for money and they do look the part. I have had many comments from friends asking how much my system cost to install. They don’t realise that they are fake. They are still running 5 months later with the original batteries I put in so battery life is better than expected. Changing batteries looks to be easy as well even with them in place. These two cameras plus the approriate camera signs which come with them should scare away the casual thieves and what more can you ask for.
Works as expected and looks the part. Easy to install with everything provided.
I bought this item to put on our garage, which is too far from the house to have a working camera installed. This dummy looks very similar to the cameras installed on our house.
The batteries last only about 6 weeks. I am looking for a 3v transformer that I can connect and plug into the mains supply in the garage.
Great little item – looks entirely real. Top job with the blinking light – 2 AA batteries have lasted 6 weeks now, it’s been through storms, torrential rain, and low temperatures and it’s still blinking, still doing it’s job. I put this beside a solar powered PIR light and it does the job! Great item for the price.
I have attached it inside as I found it to difficult to install myself up a ladder, but it looks the part and I’m happy with i
We had an issue with others coming into the back garden, we knew who it was but had no proof. I let it be known that we had now installed CCTV, low and behold no more intruder. Going to get another for the front of the house.
I’ve got a real one by my front door but wanted something by the back door too and for 6 you can’t go wrong (ordered two more) it looks like the real deal plus it came with a fairly big “CCTV IN OPERATION” sticker which was a welcome bonus.
The blinking light is a bit of a giveaway but the vast majority of people would definitely think its “really filming them”
Had a bit of an issue with the nosy old dear next door cutting my bushes in the garden but not had her anywhere near them after I put this up.
I’d highly recommend this product but I’d also recommend getting a cheap real cctv camera also just in case you genuinely need it (I personally have one real camera and three of these fake ones)
I’m in a ground floor apartment and these make me feel a bit safer plus they annoy your neighbours which is always good fun.
Looks real enough
Easy to install for an average D.I.Yer like myself
Can’t comment on weatherproof/battery life yet as hasn’t been up long enough
But definitely does the deterrent job.
Just as expected, this is an inexpensive way to put off possible housebreakers. Anything that will discourage them is good in my book, and this is a cheap and cheerful way to do that.
This is my second one so I’ve written a similar review before. Looks convincing especially if you use a little extra cable leading into the house. Can’t be sure how effective it is as it would be purely hypothetical.
Still if you can’t afford the expensive fully functional security this could be a solution.
It looks genuine, it is robust and so far rain proof. It has a continuous red LED which flashes, it would be better if the LED was built into the side, top or bottom but it is built into the lens, it may fool the local yobs but would not fool a professional burglar, I have never seen a genuine CCTV with a flashing light built into the lens.
Otherwise it is good.
Bought to see if I could squeeze in a Pi3, PiNoir camera & IR LEDs – which you can with a bit of fettling. The current installation gets quite warm though and as it stands isn’t in my opinion suitable for outside use as none of the plastic joints has a weather seal. I’m working on improving ventilation and an overall cover (possibly a plastic cordial bottle) as sealing the case joints would make maintenance awkward.
It is thin and wobbly. The ‘brand’ on the side is probably something of a giveaway. I’ve never seen a CCTV camera with a flashing red light on it. And in fact CCTV cameras don’t really look like this anymore. But it’s under a fiver and is probably sufficient deterent to prevent opportunist thieves nicking bikes from my back garden… again (though I have bought extra locks too). The flashing light means it’s nice and visible at night.
It’s ok does the job, don’t know how many people it will deter from being a menace exactly but alas.. a few points however.. if you do not scroll down when purchasing this item and notice that the thumbnail of the product is one of a ’round’ camera.. which is actually what I was after and expecting.. you actually get a bigger camera which can be a little awkward to put up externally on a cold evening. But nevertheless I wasn’t too fussed about it. its a decent lil thing.
Much smaller than anticipated and quite fragile – fortunately the two I ordered arrived undamaged.
I thought I had ordered Black but they are grey/silver – they look realistic and you don’t need to use the flashing light (leave the batteries out – looks more convincing). Really impressed may invest in a couple more.
I think this is great. It looks quite convincing with the little red blinking LED and for the price it creates a great deterrent. I would only use in combination with a REAL alarm system. Best to fix to your brickwork if you want it to look as convincing as possible; otherwise it’s obvious that cable doesn’t go anywhere 😉
Be aware that you can’t legally use any CCTV footage to convict an intruder if you don’t clearly display signs saying that CCTV is recording on your premises. And burglars are getting wise to this legal loophole, so if you want to convince intruders that this camera is real, consider also purchasing a sign.
A good, cheap fake security camera. Looks authentic and modern. Only thing is that there are a few light scratches on the sides, must’ve got damaged during product assembly, as on both sides, but you hardly notice them when mounted. Other than that it’s perfect.
As for some reason it only says the box contains just a fake camera, it also comes with 1x Warning sticker, and 3x screws and rawlplugs.
I ordered four of these and they arrived very quickly. I didn’t plan on fitting batteries as I did not want the red light showing plus I didn’t intend getting ladders out every couple of months.
I put a touch of superglue onto the end of the runners for the cover and glued it permanently in place.
I’ve had the cameras up for just over 2 months now and they look amazing. None of my friends believe that they are dummy cameras. The small piece of plastic tubing tucks in behind the fitting and really adds to the realistic look.
I’m really impressed with these dummy cameras and would recommend them to anyone who wants a cheap way of adding a security feature to their property.
Not sure why is has “CCD” written on the side… kind of gives the game away. Also the lid blows off with a bit a strong gust of wind and the light slowly dims over a month or so which again is a bit unsubtle. The unit itself looks relatively convincing, except the wire. This is surely the easiest part to replicate a real wire (maybe just use some real wire…) but its just a bit of rubber sheath folded over and clearly has nothing inside it. If somebody was to get close I think it would be pretty clear this is fake.
But for the money its pretty good and is serving a purpose well so far.
Easy to install, light and looks the part. The wire from the back looks very convincing (I hear a ‘real’ camera should have two cables in/out) but I think it’s fine personally. Very realistic and I hope a good long-term deterrent. I’ve placed it about half way up the house so out of reach of standing persons, it also gets some level of rain protection from being under the eves of the roof. I actually removed the batteries as I read (in a few places) that real sec cams don’t have the red flashing light. Saves me ever changing them!
Would highly recommend.
This is an very good model looking very like the real thing. My only criticism is the inclusion of a flashing red LED which I have yet to see on a real CCTV camera (I have therefore not used it). A better option, if a light was to be included, would be a solid glowing green LED as does appear on several real cameras. I also have a PERHAPS UNJUSTIFIED concern that the plastic MAY fade in strong sunlight and does not match the quality of plastics used on the genuine article.
I purchased two of these imitation cameras in April. They were simple to fit and were quickly seen by neighbours who were convinced they were real! I had some concerns about how long the batteries would last. I fitted the cameras on 2nd April. Today (5/6/17) over 9 weeks later I noticed that both red lights were not so bright so I changed the batteries. I fitted them at a height whereby you need a ladder to change the batteries but in a location which is easy to access. I am happy to change the batteries every two months and would recommend as an effective and cheap alternative to more expensive CCTV systems.
Excellent delivery and service from the seller. Early days but a great realistic looking item. I have ‘installed’ it so waiting to see if the neighbour in question stays off the property. I have situated it on the UPVC fascia of my garage using extra strong double sided carpet joining tape – as it is an awkward location to use a screwdriver – and it seems secure enough and very resistant to being ripped off. The fake wire is a good touch. I also bought a better, plastic CCTV warning sign than the yellow adhesive one provided, from another seller, to complete the effect. I guess many experienced intruders etc will be wise to these fakes by now but this is a neighbour deterrant and he is not that bright. I would recommend this seller and so far this product as well. It’s only a few quid so worth a try to see if it addresses your needs. Would be handy if the manufacturer would put a super adhesive pad as an alternative to scewing it on – but I solved that myself quite cheaply. As it is battery run and the light constantly flashes – a ‘summer’ mode version [or solar] would be handy as the led light might not be noticeable in the day. Then you wouldn’t have to change the batteries so often which would be handy as it is in an awkward location. Maybe that defeats the object – it’s supposed to be on all the time as a warning! Very happy with it so far.
I actually got this for my mothers house because she was getting pestered with someone ringing her door bell at two in the morning. It’s been a week now and working a treat. The first camera I received the flashing light didn’t work so sent it back and got a replacement. Easy to set up, I drilled into the wall and hung a length of old wire from it to the top of the window where I jammed the end into a small hole, this makes it look more real. on the hole I am very pleased with this and might consider one for myself.
did you know that in Arizona USA it is illegal to ride a horse on the steps of the courthouse.
GREAT LOOKS THE JOB! THEY SAY THE FLASHING LED DONT LOOK REALISTIC! BUT TO MANY IT DOES!! .WE HAD LOT’S OF PEOPLE OVER NIGHT STAYING DOING THEIR MIDNIGHT STUFF ON OUR OUT SIDE CAR PARK FOR OUR VISITORS!! . WELL THEY DONT PARK OVER NIGHT NOW ALL SEEMS TO HAVE STOPPED . WE USED TO BE UP TO LOOK ABOUT 2 AM IN THE NIGHT NORMALY THEY WOULD BE THERE STEAMY WINDOWS HA. SO WHAT CAN YOU SAY CHEEP TO FEEL AND HANDLE BUT ONCE IN THE AIR HARD TO TELL NOT REAL!! SOUNDS BAD THAT! . ANY WAY WE PUT 2 UP SIDE BY SIDE .I CANNOT SAY HOW LONG THE BATTERIES WILL LAST FOR THE FLASHING LED BUT SEEM OK UP TO NOW OVER MONTH STILL FINE . THANK’S
This camera is truly amazing. The picture quality is just like the broken HD camera I have and takes no time at all to download.
Recording time is unlimited and zero megabytes of storage are needed.
And yes this is a wireless device. We’ve found that the non-existent video still wont be received on our home network at distances up to several kilometers.
Processing the non-existent video in Adobe Premiere Pro is a very quick and you can even choose to ignore putting the results on Youtube.
The police have advised that for technical reasons they will not be interested in the non-existent results.
One possible bug – the cover slides over the body of the camera to to give access to the battery holder. It’s very lose and we can see it blowing off in a strong wind but we don’t consider this a security risk.
A local villian we spoke to known as Charlie ‘The Crowbar’ Cashwell said… ‘No way, guv, would me or the boys attempt a robbery at a place so well protected – unless the little red light has stopped flashing’
Bought this for use in a shop. The style is in keeping with current security cameras and the red LED is clearly seen and difficult to ignore. The battery compartment is easily accessed by removing the sliding cover but wonder how weatherproof it might be if used outdoors. Personally I would only use it outside if it could be protected by a porch or overhang. I added a fake power cable (only has one fake co-axial cable) to make it look even more convincing and given the price think it is extremely good value.
Excellent value dummy camera. Looks convincing up on the wall. Comes with mounting screws, wallplugs and yellow CCTV stcker. The only thing I didn’t like was the flashing LED. It’s far too bright – like a search light at night, and the flash is too long and too slow: It’s on for 1 second, off for one second. In my opinion it should by on for 1/8 th of a second then off for 2 secs. If it was a real camera then a LED this bright lighting up for this long would prevent the camera from working properly at night since it would wash out the image. I decided the camera looked better without the LED so I removed the batteries.
However, I’d still recommend it as a dummy camera – even without the LED flashing.
