Brilliant little machine
I only ever use this to play DVD’s and it serves its purpose. Nice and compact and so simple to use. Don’t know if it will play BluRay as I don’t have any. Great for the basic DVD’s. Good price too.
Originally Purchased in January 2023 - replacement received on May 13th 2024
The original item was used three or four times weekly for looking at films or TV series discs – recently at random frequencies the player would freeze and/or the audio would be distorted but the same discs would operate fine on my lap-top. The DvD player now does not function at all and as it was purchased in January 2023 the 1 year warrantee no longer applies so the item will be put in the trash bin. Even though the warrantee had expired DBPOWER have supplied a replacement and all is well and they deserve full marks for their customer service
Purchased this to take on cruise holidays but actually been mainly used by a sick relative who found it invaluable and easy to operate. Decent screen quality & highly portable. Good battery life. What’s not to like at this price.
Volume
This is a lovely player except for the volume, ok if sitting quietly, but I wanted for when I’m busy in kitchen, and it’s not loud enough so have to wear headphones, not a huge deal for me, but still disappointing.
I did quite a lot of research before making my purchase, and I was really surprised by how solid this dvd player is. It also has small feet which make it very stable, and although they don’t have suction cups on them, the dvd player stays very firmly where you put it. The screen is big, swivels securely, and the picture quality is very, very good for a compact dvd player at this price. The sound quality is more than adequate, not quite as high quality as the picture, but fine for my reposes. I had a few questions, and contacted DBPOWER, who were amazing: they replied literally within minutes with a friendly tailor-made and comprehensive email. It’s among the best customer service I’ve ever had. I’m delighted with the unit, and just as delighted with the service I received.
I am so impressed with this DVD player. It fit’s on my bedside table and still leaves me enough space for other item’s as well. The picture quality is fantastic and the sound is great as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is easy to use and the remote is a good size as well.
So Portable DVD player. Nice little item. Sleek black casing, manual controls, and all round nice looking player. Sound quality is good if a little quiet. Picture quality is good. No fuzziness or blind spots.
I have given it four stars for 2 reasons.
1. The remote control is not for the player. It is for a TV which is a bit disappointing as every one likes to be able to jiggle things around to their own liking. Not sure if this is a genuine mistake or whether they are in all boxes.Maybe Seller could look into this and correct the mistakes.
2. I have had to buy external speakers. The sound quality for a car is about right as too loud and it can cause distractions to others. Using head phones it seems to be fine but for use in a bedroom or kitchen the speakers are needed.
I’ve only given it 4 stars as does feel abit on the cheap side.
But it’s brilliant, great size screen, fab volume and picture is really good too.

Bought for my elderly Dad for his stay in hospital in order to simply play D.V.D’s.
I had a quick look through everything the product can do,I have not however put anything into practice as it’s not needed for him.First impressions,great product,easy set up,great large swivel screen,good battery life,volume is ok,could possibly be louder,but perhaps it can be blue toothed to a speaker,I haven’t got that far.Would I recommend,definitely.Price is reasonable I think,I’m pleased with it.
Thus is large screen and easy to use for my 10yr old son. I wanted it for the car so I can control what he watches as on a table he finds ways round my security he’s smart. Thus was good value and works well.
Well I have re-purchased this player. It’s been several months since I returned the first one. I must be the only customer who ended up with a faulty model. Undeterred! It is blue this time. Tired of black boxes. It looks great. More importantly it works fine and does everything (and more) that I want it to do. On the negative side the sound especially with movies is just too low. Better with CDs Adding an extra powered speaker does help with volume. And it’s fine with headphones.
Everything is fine except the volume that cant go up enough..to hear a bit better I need to wear a head cuff…its lower than the standards..but at the end I am satisfied.

Bought for my mum who is in a Nursing Home. Her eyesight is poor and she cannot see the TV easily. This will be great for her as she can watch her favourite concerts and musicals up very close to see the detail.
The controls are easy to navigate but her dementia is such that she will need me or a carer to put it on for her. I’m not sure that I will bother with the remote as it is a bit fiddly.
It is amazing how multifunctional this DVD player is at such a great price. I like the input options – you can practically watch from any form of storage (DVD, USB stick, SD card, etc) The image is nice and clear; the sound is good; the screen size is just right; it is light weighted; the battery lasts as described and the list can go on and on. Also, I had a minor issue and the customer service was very helpful, professional and friendly and solved my problem in less than 48h.
Unit size not as advertised but full refund given promptly allowing me to keep the goods.
The unit appears to work fine but is not the advertised size. Once out of the box it is only 10.5″ not 12.5″ as sold. Even the box it comes in states it is 12.5″ but it is NOT.
Sadly the unit supplied did not work, after charging up, tried to setup as per booklet, blue screen lit up, but on using units buttons and the remotes buttons nothing came up in screen, tried it with is plugged in and not plugged in, changed the batteries on the remote. So have just arranged return with Amazon.

My teenage daughter unfortunately for her has the smallest bedroom in the house. This doesn’t leave her with a lot of room for a tv as the space is taken up with her bed, wardrobe, dressing table, drawers, mountains of clothes, etc so she needed something small and compact that was portable to be able to watch her DVDs on. This is the perfect DVD player!
It’s small enough and compact enough that she can close the screen down and put it anywhere from in the top of one of her drawers to under her bed when not in use.
Plus it’s light enough to carry around with her in her backpack for when we are travelling.
The screen is really decent quality actually. We were surprised considering the price point.
The sound doesn’t get very loud, which is probably the only real flaw to the system, but it’s loud enough for her to be able to hear, especially when she’s in her bedroom alone watching DVDs.
The remote control is easy to use and seems quite sensitive so you don’t have to worry about being too close to the screen to be able to pause, play, rewind, etc at will.
All in all I think it’s great value for money and we’d consider purchasing another in the future for our younger daughters for when travelling.

This is the second DB power dvd player i have bought, the first one about 4 years ago has been used constantly and dropped a few times so it is time for a new one the new one is more modern with better controls but a smashing machine for the grand children either in the house or in the car, it looks plasticcy but is a good machine i have tried several others but this is the best for price.

Very happy with this, it’s great value for money. Picture and sound quality is very good. It’s slightly noisy when DVD is running but this doesn’t detract from your viewing; for this price, you can’t complain.
Good for Occasional Use
I don’t have space for a normal DVD player – so opted for this one to hook up to the TV, on the rare occasion I watch a DVD. It’s a bit clunky but does the job. The sound quality is quite poor but I either have it plugged into speakers or wear headphones.
The DVD player was packaged well and sturdy. It took 2 1/2 hours to fully charge then we watched a film no problem. The highest volume was loud enough for us and the screen was clear from two angles. The screen is small but it will do for our campervan.
I like that this is small, portable, long battery life after charging so can be used unplugged for several hours- but the screen resolution/pucture is poor, like something from 1980s, pixellated and the colours a bit washed out.
Does the job, I wanted a small portable dvd player for the bedroom I could pop on my bedside table, I like that it has old-school clunky tech with a mechanical eject button and big obvious play and select buttons so friendly for anyone with poor vision or using in low light or without the remote.
I think this is ideal for older folks and those with poor vision who need a big-button phone etc, and kerchunk to know you pressed something- ideal for the sick bed, hospital bed, nursing home bedroom- I think anyone under the age of 50 with good eyesight will lament the pucture quality!

broke after 3 months
We liked this little player but it was poor enough quality that it broke after 3 months use. The whole time it was sitting on a desk and used only to watch DVD’s, so it wasn’t like it was being used hard or moved around roughly etc. Very disappointed as it feels like it was money wasted.

I’m one of those oldskool heads who still like a watching stuff on physical DVDs (not streaming). Love the faxt you can swivel the screen so far to fit your comfort. Slick black design. Picture quality isnt super sharp, but personally thats the charm for me; its the nostalgic look I like, plus I don’t need to see every pore on someone’s face. Happy with this product.

Bought as a present for my Son. He’s only used it a couple of times so far, but says it works well. Looks great & good value for money compared to some other makes. Would recommend.
Bought to use on a caravan holiday for a 3 year old and is still going strong months later, and it gets used a lot! Quite robust and the screen can spin round so can be watched in tablet mode or in the car. Has worked on numerous DVD’s and CD’s, the picture quality is great and the sound quality is probably what you would expect from a portable device. You can also plug the lead which is included into your TV which is great. The charge lasts a couple of DVD’s and charges ok, probably takes a few hours to be fully charged but can be plugged in whilst watching. Really easy to use (my 3 year old can use it) All in all a great portable DVD player with multiple uses at a good price.

Screen is really good size, picture quality is great. The only down side I would say is that it is quite noisy, fine if you are the one watching the film as you have your headphones on but not so great for the person sitting next to you! But other than that a great item.

The product arrived well packaged and included ,uk mains charger ,car charger and output leads. Product seems well built, picture quality is very good as is the sound ,batteries were included with the supplied remote control . Instruction manual is easy to follow .Only used DVD player for 1 week however so far very satisfied with my amazon purchase .
Bought this for my little one for the car. I Love the large screen as they are not squinting trying to watch it. Great quality and with the remote it makes it very easy to turn up and down the volume or change what they are watching from anywhere in the car. Great to keep little ones occupied on the go. It also replays where you left off when turned off so very handy when watching a film. Sound and picture quality is excellent. And the screen rotates to either 90degrees or 180degrees. It also has a USB port and an SD port so I can’t wait to download things so that we can try these out. Great purchase. Looking forward to using it more and more on long journeys. I did some research and glad that I went for this model. Battery life seems to be very good as I have only had to charge it once since we got it. I would buy this again and recommend.
I bought this DVD player for my grandmother whilst in hospital. She needed to watch DVDs while in hospital but the hospital TV didn’t have the ability to do it so I used this player so she can watch DVDs and is much happier now. The portable DVD player is easy to set up and good value for money. It plays DVDs well and is simple to use. Great value for money!

Love the picture quality on this dvd player. The sound is pretty good but a little ‘tinny’ to listen to. Four stars simply because when wearing earphones to hear the sound you can hear the revolutions of the disc which is too distracting for me. All in all good value.
Nice little DVD player, handy for long car journeys.
It charged up quickly and on first inspection does the job well. I will have to try it out in the car now and see whether it can be mounted onto the back of my Volvo seats. Volume is ok but will have to test it whilst driving the car in order to ascertain whether it is loud enough. In any case, it can be used with headphones.

Fab product. Got it for my foster child for her birthday. Heavy duty enough for this pretty destructive 10yr old. It lived falling off the bunk bed, thrown in the car and stepped on. She could plug the headphones in and it. played every DVD ever bought (including cheap ones from poundland and home bargins).

This is a present for my son who is on the spectrum and also has ADHD. It’s a perfect present for him as he is in need of constant stimulation so the ideal gift to accompany him on long car journeys where he would get restless.
Bought this great portable dvd player so that I could do my pilates workout watching the dvd as I went through it. I can’t remember all the moves. This portable dvd is simply perfect for this!!
I should also add that the picture quality and the sound is fantastic and I am very happy with the high quality of this player and all its functions. No excuse to keep fit now!!
Rapid delivery and excellent sound and picture quality
Arrived within 2 days of order . Meets all the good reports I had read . Sound and picture quality very good especially for the money . Light but well built and satisfies my requirement other than discovered made in China . This should have been made clear prior to purchase since DBPower is supposedly of Indian origin and thus I assumed that India would be the country of manufacture and I would not be contributing financially towards an undemocratic country which treats its own people with as little respect as it does the rest of the world .
Update: I’ve been testing my player for a while now and love it. I bought it to binge watch films and TV series in bed and it’s perfect for snuggling up for an evening of entertainment. It’s just the right size so not cumbersome on the bed. I put it on a small wooden board to protect from dust/overheating etc. It plays fine even when tipped. I like that the memory restarts where you left off previously for continuous watching.
Originally I deducted one star for the low sound, but I’ve revised this because I don’t think I’d find a better quality DVD player for such a great price.

I do like this little DVD player a lot. The picture is very clear. My only issue is the sound, it’s very quiet and you need headphones. I don’t like wearing headphones, but cannot hear it without. But I understand that something this small would not have good volume. With headphones it’s very good quality. That said, I think this is the best of this price range and has other good reviews, so will see how it goes.
Sunday 22 Feb 2021 – My brother was rushed to hospital on 11 January with a severe attack of cellulitis. Despite being kept in a room on his own he also contracted Covid19 and very nearly died. All the NHS staff were brilliant but warned us things could go either way. The TV service at the hospital was broken and no one could be found willing to fix it and, as you can imagine, patients were getting very depressed with no visitors and little to do. My brother is not a mobile phone user and so I thought he might be cheered up by the DBPOWER 12.5″ Portable DVD. WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS MADE TO MY BROTHER’S RECOVERY!! It helped him to stop focussing on how ill he was and brought some cheer and entertainment back to his life. Thank goodness for this DVD player and the contribution it has made to my brother’s recovery – we are hoping he will be able to come home next week.
So far it has performed well. The sound is not loud enough, but this is true of all similar units. With an added speaker, the sound is good. The unit is smart, slick, and good to handle. The menus on screen look clunky and dated, but this doesn’t affect the function. The menus are difficult to understand at first, so you have to study the instruction book. Overall, I am glad I bought it.
My 22″tv with dvd player broke and I didn’t want another one taking up loads of cabinet space in my bedroom. I often watch films late at night and wanted something a little easier to have which I could simply watch lying on my bed with head phones, thus not annoying or keeping anyone else up at night. Simply brilliant. For me the picture quality is good and sound loud enough for me. It actually goes louder than I could bear, so no problem there. It’s a bit plastic looking but not enough for me to moan about. Controls on the unit good but also remote control works fine for me. It can be a little fiddly putting in and taking dvd’s out, however manageable. I spent a while researching these before my purchase. DBPower seems to come out 1st or 2nd best in most polls and now I have one, I know why. Don’t hesitate – you’ll be happy with your purchase.
With budget being tight, I needed a DVD player that was region free. When I saw the advert for this player I did check the reviews and they seemed to be very positive. Having used the DVD player for a week, I can see why. The picture quality is excellent, the sound is great too. The unit can be charged which makes it totally portable. The DVD player is robust and solid. The thickness of it, is the only downside. It is quite chunky and would need a fair amount of space if you were packing it. Only beginning to see the possibilities, not got a car, so using it in that context is untested.
Overall, delighted with the DVD player and look forward to using it.

his dvd is a fantastic item. Picture quality is excellent, sound isn’t too bad either, even better when you put it through the cars audio system. I had problems with the player freezing up after a couple of weeks, but after emailing customer support @dbpower, they replaced it with another one straight away. This company is first class, thank you dbpower.
The DVD player arrived the next day, with Amazon Prime. I was very impressed with the excellent packing, including the air-filled ribbed plastic bag to protect the unit itself. I have only had a quick try of the player so far, but it looks very nice and fully meets my quite high expectations. The unit is fairly light, but quite solid. The picture quality is very clear and a pleasure to watch. The built-in speakers are small, but I have always intended to use headphones, which is probably true for most users. All in all, this is an excellent piece of kit and I would definitely recommend it.
I bought this to replace an older, more expensive player – different make – which worked well but had so much background noise when playing a dvd I always needed to wear headphones! I thought that was just the way it was – but this one is so quiet! No background noise so no need for headphones unless I choose to! It looks smart and seems very robust. The picture quality is excellent, very sharp and clear, and sound is good. I’m really impressed – and for such a low price! The remote is a little over the top, jam packed with buttons which surely can’t all be necessary but it isn’t an issue. Quick delivery too! Really happy with my choice!
The ability to play USA & UK coded is why I bought it & it does that well. Not shore about other regions as I don’t have those DVDs. I use it to play DVDs in my house & it has long charge length. Haven’t travelled with it yet but I can see it would be easy. It’s size isn’t stream lined & takes a minute to load DVDs, this is function over style. I like that & is a reasonable price. Worked for me when my disc drive broke.

Its a great DVD player. I have various players and this is my 1st portable one. I got it specifically for using to entertain the grandkids in the car and when on trips or holidays.
I look forward to testing it in these situations once the COVID lockdown ends. In the meantime in home testing it works well and gives a nice clear picture with crisp sound. This Dvd player is exceptionally good value, it has a solid (if a little chunky!) design. But this also gives it stability and less vibration when playing dvds (unlike others I have bought in the past).

The screen is crisp and clear from a variety of angles but the swivel feature which allows the screen to pivot on the base is really good.
Controls on the top of the unit are clear as well as the included remote.
It comes with mains and car power adaptor and the fact it’s rechargable is great. Useful for when we travel and have limited powe points.

The screen size is a lot better than other models but a friend who uses hearing aids thinks the volume is set too low and has to use sub titles. I have noticed that the volume is very low sometimes even at it’s highest. I have contacted the seller because the Warranty registration would not work by visiting their site which not a lot of people do only to find they are offering 10% for first time buyers which makes it very lucrative at this price. Please explain.
Although I’m having a few problems on DVD playback but not CD playback that DBPower are sorting by sending me a replacement unit I’m still giving this a good review because the screen quality is excellent, the remote very user-friendly and the instruction manual very clear. I only ordered this model after much research and I’m sure all will be OK eventually.
Very good for the money
Very please with this portable DVD player. Mostly used in my bedroom to watch my films. Very easy to use both with or without the remote. The resolution of the screen is low, but perfectly adequate for dvd use. Would highly recommend for the price. Only 2 small points that they could improve On the device. 1) the viewing angle could be better. You do need to angle it just right to get the best picture quality. 2) not a fan of the gloss exterior. This can easily end up with finger prints all over it. A Matt finish would be much better as a portable device.
Great little DVD player which has great features and stops travel boredom!
This is a great little DVD player. It comes with 3pin 240 plug as well as 12v car charger so you can keep charging wherever you go. It also comes with an audio visual cable which makes hooking up to a TV with AV inputs very easy. This unit does feel a little lighter and flimsy compared to a non-travel DVD player but that is to be expected. There is a travel bag available for this online. Screen is great, plays AVI files from USB. I haven’t tried the SD card yet but would expect similar performance. Volume is fine however, if you are in a noisy environment headphones recommended. Hook up to TV is really easy with the AV cable. Overall really pleased with this unit. Daughter loves it and makes for far less boring journeys, especially the longer journeys.
The DVD player was bought for my husband to use during hospital treatment. the battery life being most important, thought probably a bit of an exaggeration, 5 hours, but proven wrong, the player did a continuous 4 hours, playing 1 DVD and the music CDs, and still showed life left before we put the device on charge. Colour is lovely, design is good and has proven a really good purchase.
I was after 2 portable DVD players for an imminent European road trip, and spent a while researching and reviewing different brands on Amazon before plumping for this one. I figured i’d buy one and if it was any good, buy the 2nd one. My initial impression was ‘cor that feels lightweight can it really be any good’ and I was sceptical, however the kids have been using it a fair bit now and i’m impressed. Picture quality and sound are good enough, although I would say the screen is sensitive to viewing angle, but being portable, that’s an easy enough thing to sort out. For the money, I gotta say this does seem to be a good buy. The great thing about this is the fact it’ll play all regions, which was brilliant as we’d accidentally bought a USA Scooby Doo box set for our little lad and he was previously unable to watch it. Would I buy again? Yup, in fact, i’m just about to… we need the second one for the trip.
Amazing portable DVD player WOW
My daughter absolutely loves her new DVD player. This is the second one she has had made by dbpower. Only replaced as she broke other. Screen size, Picture and sound quality Is amazing. Simple for children to use. Brilliant that the screen turns around to go Flat. Battery life is amazing especially for in car but that said is does have a Charging lead for the cigarette lighter.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a great quality portable DVD player.

my daughter likes a DVD player and has gone through many in our time. Opted this time for the dbpower model for the first time and must say so far so good. great product for a very good price. Will update as only ben using for a week so far…but so far so good.
I wanted a portable DVD player for my spare bedroom which doesn’t have a TV in. I’m currently sharing with my baby so I wanted to be able to watch dvds without disturbing the baby. However unfortunately this doesn’t allow me to as the motor and click buttons are so loud. The real issue is the disc spinner motor being so loud as can even hear it through headphones on. The sound quality is also very fuzzy which is so annoying. The memory function is brilliant however the sound always jumps back up to 11 which if the headphones aren’t left plugged in obviously comes back on really loud- only made this mistake a couple of times before remembering to make sure headphones are in. The battery life isn’t that long, only a couple of hours and if plugged in it gets really hot so I wouldn’t want to leave it for too long.
Overall I’m quite disappointed and wonder if mine might be faulty because of the poor sound quality and short battery life.
If it still works in future then I may use it in the car or for on holidays when the sound quality might not be such an issue but for now it is unusable for what I need it for. Such a shame.
EDIT- since my review customer services for in touch and offered a refund or replacement DVD player. I chose a replacement, yet to try it out but hoping the new one is better! Very impressed with the service received to offer this so I recommend on this basis.
Very poor. Stopped charging after a few weeks and only works now if plugged into the mains.
Update: after complaining about the issues on my previous review. The company got in touch with me and offered to replace the product with a new one free of charge and I have to say it’s working perfectly so I’ve obviously been unlucky with the original player. I’ve got to say that the service from the company and the quickness to which they responded to my original problem and replacing the dvd player was first class and I’m now a very happy customer.
Product arrived screen looked small measured it was only 10″ NOT 10.5″.
On reading the instruction booklet the BATTERY LIFE is only for 2 hours NOT 5 hours as stated.
Not happy I rang Amazon and I am returning the product for a full refund. I didn’t even try and play a DVD on it … shame. I was just so mad that the description for it is so clearly incorrect.
Off to ARGOS to purchase a BUSCH one as I need it urgently before a long drive and can’t chance ordering another one from Amazon as they can’t check it out prior to sending it as it’s from a 3rd party.

Bought this for my son as a replacement. An absolute must for long journeys. Quality of the picture was excellent and the unit was easy to use. My lad has learning difficulties and he mastered it easily. Our slight concern was that the volume at max level seemed to be wanting. I contacted customer service and they responded within a couple of hours. Didn’t seem to bother my lad who happily watched films in the back seat of the car on a long journey from Ayrshire. Recommend!
We have 3 young children, all 5 and under. We tend to go on a lot of holidays that generally involve driving quite a lot. Every weekend we’re in the car for at least a few hours, then we do things like driving through Europe for holiday. We have been using a selection of tablets and phones for videos and games but it’s become increasingly painful to get these working properly and with a decent selection of material for the kids. I would spend hours trying to get films downloaded then they wouldn’t work properly or the device would run out of memory etc. Then the cost of themDownloading through official avenues really is expensive.
One night the day before a long trip I was trying to get the things set up properly and it was driving me wild. The tablets just wanted to do updates which were taking forever, the phones ran out of memory etc etc. So I had two option, spend 1500 on two new iPads and a load of movies at 10 or so each, which are really the only tablets that actually work quite well, or spend 80 on two of these DVD players.
So at 11.45pm (!!!) on that Saturday night I hit order, fingers crossed they’d arrive on Sunday before our departure. 10.30am Sunday there they were. Plug in, disc in and press play. Could not be easier. Best thing I’ve done for keeping the kids entertained on our long journeys, plus we can use them in all sorts of other places as they seem to have a good 5 hours of battery life. Comes with mains plug and 12v car plug, plus cables to connect to TV and even a remote control. I don’t care if they break in 6 months, (they are quite plasticy but with some care I don’t foresee a problem) I’ll just spend another 40 to replace them. How much do apple want for a replacement screen on an iPad these days?!
The screen size on this is tremendous, you especially need a screen 9f this size when watching panoramic movies. Because with the black bars reducing the visible screen size the extra inches makes all the difference. Only 4 stars because the sound sin,t too good with the inbuilt speakers, totally recommend headphones. Remote control has plenty of options, though the layout is a bit strange and hard to find sometimes in the dark whilst watching a movie. Currently havent experimented with SD card or Audio books yet, but the memory re all is working perfectly so far, so look forward to that soon.
Fantastic Mini DVD Playe
I have been looking for something like this for my son and I am absolutely over the moon with this mini portable DVD player. His favourite colour is Dark Blue so this fit him perfectly. Some of the contents of the box are DVD player, remote control, instruction manual, charger and car charger. The instruction manual is very clear and laid out nicely. The screen can be swivelled like a tablet view, tilted and rotated to adjust to your viewing needs. The swivelled tablet style can easily slide into the mounted car headrest which I have brought separately – this is so useful for family trips or long outings. Overall, I’m really pleased with this. It does support a number of formats like USB, AVI and MP3 to name a few. Overall, it can be taken anywhere and anytime which is what I am after.
This is a super little DVD player. A good size and an excellent quality picture. The sound is bit low level if your hearing is poor. Sometimes when pressing “play” it just says “NO DISK”. I did find a solution to that . You open the DVD hatch, press and hold the play button , close the DVD hatch. Release the play button and amazing it plays. I hope this helps some of you readers. This player is a very good buy and full of facilities you don’t get on other players whatever you pay. I will be buying another one soon.
I have had this product for just under a week now and used it on several occasions. The player was well packaged for protection and very easy to set up. The picture quality was as good as I hoped it would be, as I have a much older DVD player by another manufacturer and the picture quality of the DB Power player is excellent in comparison. I have read in other reviews that the sound quality was not great, however I have not had an issue and the user can always plug in headphones if they have a lot of background noise. I also liked the swivel display function as it just adds even more flexibility. You can hear noise from the mechanism as the DVD spins and being read but its not very instrusive and possibly where a pair of headphones would help. Overall I am really pleased with my purchase especially for the price!
I’ve bought this as a Christmas present for my 6 year old daughter. She’ll be getting it then but I’ve had a look over it to make sure that it works and makes the grade. Out of the box it charged in about 3 hours.
It has an impressive list of features but primarily she’ll be using it for playing back DVDs. Quality of the picture is excellent and the multi-positional screen is a major selling point. Build quality is better than what I was expecting and it also comes with a remote which is handy.
Sound quality isn’t great from the built in speakers but does the job if you’re not using headphones. However, for best results, use headphones.
You can hook it up to a TV if that is your want and there’s a charger in the box for the car as well as 240v adaptor.
Cracking little gadget for the little one who loves her DVD collection (I don’t want her to sell her soul to the lifeless, flat digital age just yet).
And for 55 quid you can’t go wrong.
Excellent little player. I bought solely for the purpose of a solo travelling trip but have been using it regularly since. Picture and sound quality is excellent considering the cost of the unit. I use it with DVDs and usb and works great with both. Do be prepared to spend some time converting files for the USB function though. I ended up finding AVI the best. Download a decent converter and dedicate some time to it as it’s well worth it, specially if using whilst travelling as I could fit a huge amount onto one usb. Make sure your usb stick is no bigger than 8GB in size otherwise it won’t read it. As an alternative I burnt loads of video files to a writeable dvd disc and that worked great too, brings up the list of files you have burnt and you can scroll through to select the right one. The unit is lightweight so perfect for carrying round, and in my case around an airport and onboard a plane. It was great for the hotel to keep me amused and i didn’t have to worry about leaving an expensive bit of kit in the hotel like an iPad or laptop. It lasts a good three hours before it needs a recharge. Only downside is the charger cable is short, so if you want to charge and use at the same time you have to be really near a charging point. The screen can have a bit of glare if you are watching at night in the dark but you can adjust the brightness easily with one button. The player is pretty quiet, a slight low level buzz when using the dvd function, but not really noticeable especially when using with headphones. Overall I love it and wouldn’t hesitate to buy one again.

Lovely little item good quality excellent price comes complete with one dvd game and games controller to keep you or the little ones happy could always check out other available games and free downloads to build up a good games collection. The dvd can be watched at variouse angles to suit. L chose a blue colour but there are a few other choices not just black as standard there are leads to connect other gadgets sound and picture very clear and good no interference a good deal for what you get and screen good size. I agree with most other reviewers on appearance and such but will add my tuppence worth where the others left things out.
I bought two of these at the same time one 10 inch and one 7.5 inch – I will he reviewing each separately.
The player arrived already charged so I attached the charger and left it till the single light went out. I then played dvds one after another (another different light came on when player was switched on) till the battery depleted. This was from 22.10 hrs till 4.05 hrs. You get no warning of battery at zero screen just blanks. I was watching The Godfather.
Sound was ok, sounds good with sufficient volume for me but there is a headphone socket so I could plug in a portable speaker. I found the smaller model had less volume but ok as if you are sat closer to it it does not need to be loud.
I then put the player to recharge but went to sleep so sorry can’t tell you how long the recharge took.
When player was fully charged I watched two short movies and then put The Godfather disc back in. I pressed play on the remote and the film resumed exactly where it was up to when the battery ran out despite removing disc and recharging and playing two other films.
The remote control has tiny, tiny buttons. The play button also pauses your movie is situated in centre of remote immediately below the blue triangles for up, down and left, right. Why oh why don’t they put the Play button at the top next to the Power button and alongside Mute then you can find these in a dark bedroom, caravan or car. The remote takes two AAA batteries that do not come with the player.
Picture is great but having the 7.5″ model I could compare and the smaller model has a more distinct sharper picture. This is the same as with the 10.1 inch Kindle Fire and its smaller editions. I am referring about the Kindle Fires that have microSHMC card slot. The smaller screen has the sharpest picture.
It has played every single dvd I have tried but I have no blue ray discs and only a few USA discs not tried yet.
The appearance looks cheap, has charger, car adaptor, games disc and games player – not tried yet, cables to send dvd signals to a tv, remote control BUT NO BATTERIES for the remote control.
Like someone else wrote for the price I paid if it lasts 12 months I will be happy.
I watch TV on my larger Kindle Fire HDX and the new larger screened 10.1″. There are so many films to watch especially on Prime but I miss my dvd films that are not available or not free on Prime and so now I can watch both – by swapping the small devices over.
By the way this player plays letter box sized movies but if you use cables and connect the dvd player to your TV you get the letterbox movie in full screen mode on your TV. You can even watch both your big and little screens at the same time.
Another point made by a reviewer is that the player is old fashioned in the sense that it is too thick to fit in some car harnesses. We use a type that is a wallet type holder for swivel screen dvd player stitched to a wide firm elastic band that wraps around the head restraint of the car seat in front fixed with very wide velcro. It is an excellent holder but I doubt the 7.5″ model will fit.
I bought a holder off Amazon for fixing a tablet to a car head restraint from same manufacturer and the broad elastic fixes the same way in fact there are 2 types – there is an additional one that allows for a deeper device so this may help people who read this for fixing devices for rear passengers. Instead of a fixed wallet there are metal brackets that fix to the broad elastic.

This is great value for money. The kids love it. So far has really been used as a novelty, watching fireman Sam dvds whilst daddy has football on… booo!
The main reason for buying is to take on holiday for the journey and keeping kids entertained when they wake up at 5am.
Oh and I recently discovered Bomb Jack on the games disc!!!

I bought this for my mother who was bed ridden recuperating from a fall. Arrived the day after ordering and well packaged and protected. This device is easy to use for those who are not too tech savvy . Be aware it only plays DVDs not Blurays. The sound is OK on speakers, but not great, used with headphones it is much better. The picture quality is again ok not great and is very sensitive to angle, however the screen is very easy to adjust, so this is not as problematic as it would be on a TV. Two people sat side by side may not get the best picture, so consider it as a personal use device. The rechargeable battery lasts well , manufactured quotes 3 hours, but my mother was able to watch two 2 hour films before it needed recharging. So overall good bit of kit, but if you are used to an iPad you may be disappointed with quality, but then my iPad costs 650, this is a tenth of the price, so you get what you pay for.

With a size of around 29cm wide and 21cm width this has a similar footprint to a smaller notebook/netbook though it’s quite a light item. The main appeal of this player is that it’s not just a DVD playback device but also can:
– Play other video and audio formats via the SD card or USB port: Xvid, AVI, MPG, MP4, WAM, MP3 etc (most of the common formats are here but there are many sub formats esp MP4 not all will work)
– DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW you can playback from your own media discs (not all players allow this) there is no region coding either
– Copy music and video files you can rip MP3 files from a CD too
– It’s also possible to input video and audio via a supplied cable. Also included are a UK power adapter, car charger and mini game controller (plus CD) and a button remote (fairly decent too takes 2x AAA cells) The TV AV socket is blanked out on the model I looked at (marked but nothing to connect to)
Manual could use some work with broken English and translation errors it’s not that clear but you can muddle though it with a bit of work and it’s fairly straight forward as the buttons on both the main control panel and remote are logical enough. On the side are slots for the SD card, USB, AV in/out and power switch it’s all quite straightforward as you’d expect for a product of this type.
I’ve not used the previous model but this one is said to have a larger battery and capable of 3 hours of playback. What’s the verdict? For the most part it’s a good little player the screen is quite good in clarity and with respectable viewing angles (side to side is good less so top to bottom but can’t complain much) multi angle is a nice feature you can twist the screen around and lay it flat or at an angle. Sound was a bit weedy but I dived into the menu and tweaked the settings and managed to get much better output it’s not going to blow you away but it’s good enough to hear fairly clearly (odd that out of the box it’s very quiet the maker should look at the factory defaults on this) for music I’d use the headphone socket… this can be hooked up to speakers if you want a portable CD player.
Playback was smooth with little drive noise or vibration it did a nice job on this with anti shock preventing car bumps from skipping (seems to have 2-3 seconds of shock resistance should work fine for most cars bar a Land Rover off road). The included “games” are very much retro “80’s” in appearance and the control pad is a nice idea though a little spongey it works by plugging it into the rear USB port it’s not a bad add on to have for smaller kids but not a major feature of the player I can’t see it getting a lot of use (games are not going to stack up well v modern ones)
Due to the larger screen it’s not a small player by any means and the market might be declining for portable DVD players; I still see some use for them even with tablets being so popular. As this can be used as a media card reader you can load up music and films onto a card or USB stick it’s quite flexible you can’t really fault the maker for trying they’ve shoved quite a lot in here to broaden the appeal more. Aside from the manual I’d like to see a somewhat longer car charging lead (just about long enough to reach a back seat an extra 30-45cm would be nice) some might prefer rotary dials for volume/screen adjustments this is menu driven. Nit picks aside (build feels reasonable enough light but not flimsy) it’s a nice little player that does the intended job quite well and the price is attractive too. It’s certainly a lot better than the budget portable player I bought 4-5 years ago and can be recommended.
