VERY easy 5 stars *****
In that the 4th and 5th generation Dots look so, well, identical, I assumed this would fit my 5th generation Dot despite being advertised as for the 4th Gen. It very nearly did, but the plastic above the power supply input stopped me connecting my power lead So I snapped it off!!! Now it fits my Gen 5 Dot perfectly, I can plug the power lead in without problems and everything works great. I get about 5-6 hours of usage from a single charge , which is plenty as I only use the battery on the Dot for music when I’m having a bath. It’s better value than the ‘official charger’
I love this. It now allows me to move the dot around the house without being stuck to a lead. It’s perfect if you like to use in in the bathroom or rooms without plug sockets. Battery lasts for a very long time too.
This is a great bit of kit, works as it should and looks v nice. Top tip, if you snap the plastic tab off the back it fits 5th gen and is a lot cheaper than buying a specific 5th gen battery base! 100% works (couldn’t see why it wouldn’t so I took the risk and bought one to try it, glad I did!) Bought this battery base to enable use of my spare Echo Dot where no power in the house is available. Works a treat and easy to use and charge up with the original cable supplied with the Echo Dot.
Great little device that makes your echo dot portable. Easy to set up and use. Small compact. Only negative from my point of view. The battery indicator lights are too bright on the front and intrusive at night. They can can not be turned off unfortunately. I have had to place tape over them. Can not comment on battery life at present.

Now what I would like the makers to do is, make a battery stand for the Echo, the Dot’s big brother.
Saved bit by buying and adjusting this for a 5th gen. I have used this companies products before and the quality is excellent nd still use it now. Anyway had to cut a little bit of the back for the 5th gen to slip in. But slip in nice it did….
I mainly bought the battery base so I can use my Dot 4 in the bathroom and my garden. And it’s great for this. I also wanted something that I could use during a power outage. I this again is ideal. I don’t keep it plugged in the whole time and I turn the power button off when not in use. (It does recommend this in the instructions). It’s good sturdy base and feels really secure. When I saw this on amazon I thought it would perfect.. I wanted it for my new Echo. Unfortunately for me this is not the right battrry base for the Echo- it’s only compatable with the echo dot 4th generation.
So have returned it. (
Excellent for the echo dot 4th generation only,as they are specifically for that model.They are excellent value for the price that I payed (I have 2)for a number of reasons.Upon receiving the battery base it does not come with a charging cable,as the charging cable that comes with the echo dot itself is used to charge the battery base.Both base’s when received had levels of charge between 50 to 75%,but would recommend before use that you charge to 100% so that you can determine how many hours use you get from the base.Also you get a 10p sized disc which has a very strong magnetic side and the other side which has blue plastic covering has a sticky side that sticks to the underside of the dot and the magnetic side clamps to the battery base.Have seen on the Q&A for this item that some people have had some queries relating to the blue plastic side as I found myself that removing the blue plastic covering,it had no sticky side at all!!!So just place that side up on the underside of the dot in the recess, so that you can hold it in place as you lower it onto the base.The magnetic side is very strong and has a scratch proof covering the doesn’t need removing and the dot sits on perfectly.At the back of the battery base it has a socket for the echo dot charging cable and also a mini cable that plugs in to the dot providing the power from the base.At the front of the base you have a on/off switch (approximately a 2 second press for on and 1 second press for off)and 4 mini blue led lights that indicate charging status and battery life status when in use!When not in use (and I am not insulting your intelligence)by switching off the base it will ensure that you gain maximum efficiency from your charge as there will be no indication from your mini led lights.Build quality is excellent and cosmetically add’s to the appearance.So far I have run them to just under 50% charge with excellent volume and had had over 5 hours play,but have not run them down to zero,so charging times have been very good.So leading to the reason of using the battery base,it totally eliminates the use of being permanently plugged in anywhere,you can have it situated where you want without the use of cables including extension cables!No worry about having trailing cables that could be a hazard for young and old,so just some of the advantages that are available,as well as no detriment to the sound!Is well packaged with instructions.Hope this will be of help if you are thinking of purchasing one.
First few days I had it continuously on and it was down to 1/4 energy bars from 9pm to 7am just on stabd-by. I now only turn it on when using it and as it is located in the bathroom this isn’t really an issue. I’d say you get 2-4 hours use depending on volume, so would be great for an afternoon in the park! Expensive, but no other alternative really.
The only issue I have is that if turned off the battery discharges anyway. Probably because is attached to Alexa which always is on standby. Just remember to put it back on charge when not using it. Otherwise just great.
Good product and easy to use although I was a bit confused about how to stick the magnet onto the base so ended up watching someone do it on a YouTube video.
Great for having an Alexa in the Bathroom. Fits well & charges perfectly with original echo power cable. Strong magnetic hold between Alexa & battery base. 5 little blue LED’s to indicate charge status. I haven’t measured how long it lasts , but I used it early one morning, then again later in the day , without charging. Some reports say it will go longer , if you turn it off between uses. There’s also no delay in being able to use it when you disconnect from power, unlike my previous battery base/ speaker.
Absolutely brilliant. I was persuaded to buy a echo dot over Christmas. However it was frustratingly never in the room where I needed it. I live in a flat so didn’t really want to invest in an echo for every room. This is great as I now carry it from room to room so I can listen to my music, add to my shopping and to do lists as I need to. Easy to set up and carry around. The company also sent a lovely thank you for buying their product and offered any support required. Nice touch.

There are a lot of these type of units on the market and Amazon Echo which is a product made by Taiwan-based Foxconn, officially Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd.
There has been some bad press regarding them regarding the Amazon Dot retailing for $49.99. with according to China Labour Watch, the temp workers earning $2.26 per hour.
I have to say after reviewing the various “Battery Bases” the GGMM Company produce the best.
The unit arrived within one day or the order, it was very well packed both in the Amazon Packaging and additionally the GGMM packaging.
The battery life is between 6-8hrs and for those who want to be able to take their Echo 4 with them to other locations in the home or elsewhere its brilliant. My unit is in my bathroom where I cannot have AC Socket power to it.
The blurb provided by GGMM states that they are dedicated providing “Customer Satisfaction” and they have certainly done that.
The unit supplied by GGMM is “Black” and is designed for the Echo 4 Unit. It should be noted that the Echo 4 Unit is larger than the Echo Dot Units. I also have 4 other Echo Dots that are in everyday use.
The instructions that came with it were very clear (unlike so many foreign products nowadays) and it was simple to attach to my Dot and worked straight out of the packaging.
In use its best to “Switch it Off” when not in use as the battery base will run out of juice in a few hours otherwise.
I can thoroughly recommend both the unit and the company and am glad to be part of their influencer program.
This battery base was great for taking my echo dot 4 out into the garden or bathroom to listen to my music, or any of the alexa functions. Only had it a few days and so far I’m impressed. Only niggle is the connector at the back can be a little fiddly, but once it’s in, it’s staying in as you can keep it plugged in without affecting the battery. The magnet for the base to keep it in place on the battery unit appears to be strong enough too. Was keen to get this as I had previously bought the d3+ for my echo dot3 which is also fab. So far so good
Bought a white one with a white Echo Dot with Clock (4th Generation) for use in the bathroom. Perfect size for the shelf and loud enough at half volume (recommended to get the most battery life) that you can hear it over the shower noise in an semi-enclosed cubicle. Easy to set up (a stick-on metal plate to the bottom of the Dot so it attaches magnetically to the battery base) and use. Downsides? Really minor ones but no ‘show-stoppers’. I find you have to hold the on / off switch on the battery base quite a while before it switches on or off and there’s no option to turn off the battery status LEDs. And it’s currently only available in black or white so blue Echo Dot users aren’t catered for. Other than that, it’s an excellent battery base. They claim 6-7 hours of battery life so as I only use mine when in the bathroom and switch it off after, I expect the battery to last a couple of weeks at least before needing a recharge. We’ll see. I’m surprised Amazon don’t make a dedicated bathroom Echo but this with an Echo Dot with Clock is definitely the next best thing.

All very good except the magnetic disc doesn’t stick to the Echo. It always pulls off after a day. (Yes, I cleaned the area before I applied it!)

Battery lasts a good while and makes the Echo Dot fully mobile
works brilliantly with the dots and makes a mains powered alexa speaker a patio speaker or we use ours in the motohome on a table when were camping
Sound quality used it in the beach snd it was fantastic do versatile
