Loved this keyboard, sounded more pingy on a hard surface after a few months use, and my left shift key stopped working so I had to replace it, but it’s a great little keyboard and looks adorable!
The wireless is very good, no lag, never. The keycaps have very good build quality and typing feels enjoyable on it. It has a very long battery life, did not measured but something like 2-3 weeks 2-3 hours of use per day. I like it. Not very expensive as well.
I really like this keyboard with gateron pro yellow. If you’re looking for thocky prebuilt keyboard this is the way to go.
The latency is close to non in my experience when connected to Bluetooth, not the dongle.
but my advice is before you buy this, check for more reviews online; for me, this is worth every dollar.
This keyboard is AMAZING. Everything. The RGB looks good, the switches feel great out of the box (although i did lube them for that extra nice sound) but the switch come pre lubed and that alone is already great. Awesome out of the box keyboard and would definitely recommend. Good job epomaker!
I am not a gamer so can’t speak to that but this is the perfect clicky keyboard for my 9-5 job. It is heavy so wouldn’t commute with it but great for my at home work set up!
I’ve built a few custom keyboards and just picked this one up out of laziness, and wow. They could easily sell this for $200. Great out of the box and factory lube isn’t too bad.
First plunge into custom keyboards. After watching hours and hours of videos I moved away from traditional gaming keyboards (razer, Logitech etc) and stumbled across this. The sound tests did it for me, and honestly it sounds better in person. Love it, love typing on it, love gaming on it.
Buy this keyboard!
This keyboard, for the money, is an insane value. I like the tactile switches. And the key caps are perfect. I’d say that if you want something with a very custom feel and don’t want to mess with building, this is a way strong option.
Was a sceptic on these mechanical hot swap thingies. BUt having one changed the way i perceived these. The experience is unlike any membrane keyboard i have used before. It is definitly a different beast. The keys are superb.
The overall keyboard is nice considering its stock, nicely built with weight to it but it lost a star from it being 5 because of the lack of quality control before shipping. I’d like to mention that these spare keycaps that have cute little decor on them come inside the bottom of the keyboard box securely but somehow still managed to come damaged. I can’t even glue it together bc there are tiny shattered pieces. Please check all your boxes before shipping out epomaker! It’s already a hassle for me having to return the entire keyboard box back for a refund just for a tiny keycap.
This is a keyboard that is very comfortable to use. Excellent feel, very comfortable to touch keycaps, 75% gives you more desktop space, and 3 connections are more convenient. But some of the keycaps have a small flaw on top, obviously not the reason for the production process. The included tool, um, I don’t know what the reason is, but it shouldn’t look like this. About the battery, when you buy it you see that it should be 4000mah, but inside the guidebook it is 3800mah, so I don’t know how much it is. As for the type-C, like a few other keyboards I’ve used, there is a slight up and down wobble, it’s not that tight.
It’s nice, estethic and I really love the sound of the keyboard, it’s highly recommended to buy this, the only thing which I really hate about this kerbside is that the logo in the keyboard can be very annoying as you cannot purposely change its cold and you cannot turn it off at all which is stupid but other then that I really love the keyboard and would recommend others to get it if they ca
Couldn’t have asked for a better product at the price point. Rare gem.
Don’t usually leave reviews for the products that I purchase (although I think I will begin to do so) and I am absolutely blow away by the quality of this keyboard, the expertly lubed and NON existent rattle on the stabilizers. I chose the flamingo switch and am stunned by the sound and feel of these linear switches. I practically had some switches in my cart to order but will hold off for now as the sound and quality of these switches blew me away. The keycaps leave something to be desired but for an all in one experience it is not a deterrent for my 5 star review! I definitely recommend this keyboard for any beginners looking to delve into the rabbit hole that is keyboard modding!
This is my 13 year old son’s 4th keyboard. He likes the feel, sound, and lighting. Happy with the purchase!
I have had this keyboard in my basket for months as I wasn’t sure about spending so much money on a keyboard. It came today and I am so in love with it.
Sound: super satisfying clacky noise
Quality: sturdy and in no way flimsy
Colour: beautiful and subtle. can taylor the lighting to your preference
Button/Switch: great quality and perfect for volume control
No s puede jugar a nada as.
This keyboard is amazing for the price! Nice and creamy sounding (flamingo switches) out of the box and easily able to mod. Nice quality keycaps, bright rgb, and the pearl like knob is a nice touch.
This is a high quality mechanical keyboard, I opted for the gateron black switches and use it 8hrs a day for work. Setup was easy and the typing experience is excellent, I changed from a Logitech MX Keys to this and it was totally worth it.
It’s an alright keyboard, though I wouldn’t buy it if you’re not super into keyboards.
PROS ;
1. Wireless, makes it good for cable management
2. Thocky
3. Good for modding
CONS ;
1. Keys may stop working? ( my W key stops working sometimes
2. Having to charge

Good keyboard but I definitely think there’s better keyboard for the price or lower !
Using this keyboard as my home office keyboard and love it. I did a ton of research on keyboard before purchasing and decided this one was the right fit for me. I’m not a PC gamer or anything, but I do have to type a lot and I wanted a keyboard that was cute but also quality and this keyboard 100% fits the bill. Connected to my laptop easily, love that I can customize the light settings and I love the way the keys sound when I type.
This is an amazing keyboard, no doubt about that. The only problems that take a point away is the spacebar, because unlike other keys it is a bit rattly, probably because of stabilizers. The wireless mode is not that great, so for gaming it is better to be used with a wire. There is no indicator for the battery life in the software and the 2.4 ghz adapter is of poor quality and it is pretty hard to insert and remove from the USB port.
But, the flamingo switches are superb, the stabilizers (apart from space bar) are amazing, the rgb is good enough, the keycaps are also great.
I use this keyboard with my PC and my iPad, works great with both. I dont think that for the price of this keyboard there can be something that beats it. Just be ready for some little things to keep in mind, it is not flawless
Overall build quality is great for it being mainly plastic, good weight, thick stock pbt keycaps and great thock straight out of the box with the pro yellow switches.
This board is an amazing value, highly recommend.
The is solid and well manufactured, propably the best in this price range.
With a couple of simple mods you can easily make it thock.
Even though it has north facing LDS in row one you don’t have any interference with cherry profile keycaps in R1 if you opt for Gateron Pro switches since their housing does accomodate. Yet when installing other switches one needs to either ensure that they have updated housing or long stems, otherwise you need to opt for the paper mod.
I chose a linear switch, and it is the perfect thocky keyboard I was looking for. It feels very high quality, and came well packaged. I had a query about my order and I can confirm their customer service is 10/10. Thank you so much-it’s so nice to type on, and the pastel colourway is beautiful.
I ordered this keyboard specifically for gaming because I’ve found that using a full size keyboard with a 10 key means my mousing hand is too far away. This keyboard is great for the purpose. I like the tactile feel of the mechanical keys for gaming and it’s super compact so I can keep my mouse closer to my sitting position. It’s got some pretty cool lighting options as well if you’re into that sort of thing. It works with Bluetooth or plugged in so that’s a bonus and I like the knob for volume control.
There was a little bit of a learning curve as far as typing because of the compact size but, since I didn’t buy this to be my regular work keyboard, it wasn’t that big of a deal.
All in all, this was worth the money for my needs.
I’ve been very pleased with this keyboard in the week since I bought it. Here are my pros and cons (Of course this is just my opinion)
Pros
The switches sound good stock
The 2.4ghz wireless is flawless
The battery life seems very good so far
Switches are Hot-swappable
South facing LEDs
Key caps feel high quality
Cons
The number row has north facing LEDS, meaning the light appears to get slightly weaker towards the top of the keyboard, although this is only a minor annoyance
The Software for customising the rgb/key mapping feels clunky to use (but ultimately works)
Bought this in a pinch to replace my daily driver that i loved dearly. I was going to receive my Osume keycaps in the mail soon and i was really eager to put them on a build as well.
I work from home doing data entry so i am typing all day. with my daily driver down i was forced to use a Dell membrane keyboard provided by my work. Once you go mechanical its hard to go back tbh so i was desperate. This keyboard was available for overnight shipping and I trust EPOMAKER as they are really reputable and trustworthy. I figured why not. It arrived in time for my 8 am shift. Was extremely easy to set up- literally just plugged it in and started typing. Before use i was skeptical about the gateron brown switches it came with, but i actually really really quite like these switches to my surprise. I tested the keyboard with Ajazz peach slices, JWK autumn rains, And akko lavander purples. Out of the four, i liked the stock gateron brown switches the most, so i didn’t need to fuss with swapping the switches or really even lubing them. The keyboard really just feels great right out of the box.
The RGB modes on this thing are reeeeeally nice and smooth. Super fluid movement w lots of customization. I love how the Caps key illuminates when it’s activated. I also love how hitting FN + 1-4 cycles thru the different connections settings and illuminates the respective key to indicate which connection you’re using.
the nob is a really nice function and its cool that pressing it mutes and unmutes the computer.
this keyboard is so lovely. if you’re considering buying it, you should. it’s honestly such a good price and its suuuuuuuuuuuper solid
Love the quality and feel and sound of this keyboard. Work with the Xbox series X in wireless mode. I accidently dropped it and broke one of its feet so Im probably going to buy another one. 10/10. Would buy recommend and buy again.
The keyboard itself works flawlessly, I got the gateron yellow version and the linear switches are really nice and smooth,it comes with some extra switches and a keycap/switch remover tool. The Bluetooth mode needs a few seconds to change from device but notihing crazy. The 2.4 GHz receiver works fantastic, but I use it mostly wired. The lighting effects are okay but in any case I prefer to turn it off. What was an issue at the beginning was the height of the keyboard, it’s a bit high and the keycap profile don’t help here, thinking on getting other profile of keycaps to reduce the strain in the wrist, but otherwise it’s very good for the price, and it’s hotswappable, which I think is insane for the value. (Used for 5 months until now)
This is the best keyboard I’ve had, hands down. Do not doubt to get it!
Budgerigar switches are stock thocc one of the best stock keyboards I could possibly find (I’m still gonna mod it tho) but w kb
EpoMaker TH80
Plus:
– very solid build
– finely crafted and very readable keycaps
– great clunky click thanks to Gateron blue switches which is a sweet feel and sound, but also greatly contributes to errorless input
– swappable switches
– nice color scheme
– very versatile connections (3x BT, 2,4GHz dongle and USB-C)
– clear and fast wake up process from BT
– battery lasts forever (I don’t use RGB) and can also be switched off
– up and down arrow keys are full size and not half size as on many keyboards these days
Minus:
– would have been even better with the addition of a Home, End and Ins key
– I have never been very good at touch typing but finding the four arrow keys is a bit more difficult than needed because they are positioned close to the other keys. Space saving decision I guess. I solved this by changing the 4 keycaps to ones that stick out a bit which makes them much easier to find by my fingers. The beauty of exchangeable keycaps.
I got this and changed the switched to silvers and I love it. The form factor is great even though im used to 60-65%. Because of the switches I use, I hit the F12 keys sometimes when I use the knob but thats the switches. Its great and quickly became my daily driver. 10/10, would eat again.

This is my first mechanical and hot swap keyboard and i love it! It sound great and looks good with the rgb! The driver is easy to use and the build quality is great!
I ordered the TH98 with black switches and love it other than the FN + a number keys don’t do what the manual says they do and the software doesn’t work. Eventually I figured out which keys actually change certain things. It’s a great board, but some things need work.
This board is amazing! I got it with their pink flamingo switches and I was blown away by how creamy and smooth they were straight out of the box. Typing on this is extremely satisfying. I swapped out the key caps to something that would match my setup better but the switches that it comes with are phenomenal. I can’t recommend this board enough.
I work as a software engineer & for me that is the most convenient layout.
I’ve ordered it with Gateron Red switches & I am completely satisfied.
Very nice keycaps & great quality overall.
I didn’t have any problem connecting the keyboard via bluetooth to any OS.
This keyboard is such a huge improvement compare to my Redragon and Royal Kludge keyboards! It has a very deep and muted (thocky) typing sound and the overall typing experience is very smooth and pleasant. It will probably be a long time before I decide to mod it because of how good it already is out of the box. Highly recommend!
If you want something good right out of the box then you can’t go wrong with this. You also have the freedom to mod and customize switches and keycaps. Only thing I modded are the stabilizers and added another thin layer of foam inside.
One of my RGB keys isn’t working and I don’t know how to fix it and I just got it today
Scrivete lemonskin punto net e aggiungete “/io/29136”.
This is quite a good keyboard. Build quality is great, and all switches and stabilizers are lubed.
I have purchased TH 66 with yellow gateron switches and I can recommend them both for playing, and for typing on the regular basis. I work from home and use this keyboard as the main one, which means I’m using it from 8 to 14 hours per day. It sounds good and the feeling from typing is very pleasant.
As for the software – it allows you to overwrite keys and set literally any color for the keys backlit.
I would recommend using battery-saver mode, which could drastically extend its life (you can enter battery-saving mode by holding Space+Right Alt+Fn).
I’m using it during the blackouts in Kyiv, and it could easily last for two-three days under heavy load (backlit turned off), and 4-5 days in the power saving mode, which makes it a keyboard and instrument that you could rely on.
Also, I had quite a nice experience of using Epomaker technical support, and have been working with their technical representative Lily, who have helped me a lot. Thank you, Lily.
If you are hesitating, you could go and check some reviews on YouTube, and check more comments, but as for me – I can recommend this keyboard, and you will get a reliable instrument which is set and ready to use just out of the box, so you don’t need to spend extra time lubing/adjusting it.
Merry Christmas!
I absolutely love this keyboard the quality is top notch and the sound omg it’s so amazing. 10/10 would buy agai
I would not recommend it for few reasons. The keyboard is missing few keys like ` ~ delete and some others but you need to use shortcuts to use them but I noticed it adds a bit of delay to typing. Also the keyboard lags on Bluetooth so you need to be wired or dongle. I would go for a keyboard slightly bigge
I’ve had 2 Keychrons and would choose this over them any day
This is a great keyboard. Note that the yellows need some pressure to press them down. If you want something light to press on, get the reds.
2. Switches intercambiables.
3. Keycaps con una muy buena calidad.
4. Muy bonito.
Cosas a mejorar:
This is the best seller I’ve ever met on Amazon. They are mostly selling great products but also provide top tier customer service.
This keyboard has a solid build and feels very premium. Even just out of the box it doesn’t need any type of mods to make it sound or feel good to use. We have 2 in the house now and will definitely be buying another soon. Epomaker has better keyboards than the big brands with a smaller price, no reason to even consider another option.
die hochwertigste Tastatur welche ich jemals hatte.
In diesem Preissegment gibt es wohl nichts besseres.
Wonderful keyboard right out of the box. I’m new to the mechanical keyboard hobby, so making sure that I bought one that had all of the future-proofing options such as hotswapable switches and south-facing LEDs for custom key caps was a must, and very difficult to find a well-built board at this price.
The keys sound and feel great so far, keys feel balanced and smooth to type on. The RGB lighting is a welcome touch, though I do leave mine on just pure white light. The build of the physical chassis itself is surprisingly sturdy despite being made out of plastic rather than metal, and is easy to disassemble thanks to the few screws and tabs that you need to open the case up.
All in all, a very solid entry board for anyone looking to get into the mechanical keyboard hobby. Will update this review if I find any issues with trying to use my own 3rd party switches when I get around to doing that.
I love the keyboard. it is thocky out of the bock and at least for me, I haven’t had the need to modify it further. I received version v500 and I updated the firmware. Lights are nice although with the keys included they are not that shiny. It’s ok for me. Battery lasts a lot as I have a mode in which keys are only turned on when I type.
The keyboard is heavy, keys are smooth to touch and it looks better in person than in the pictures. Spacebar has a nice sound too.
It has some extra keycaps with nice symbols and also the mac equivalents.
I would buy this again for sure.
I’ve only tested but never owned an enthusiast level keyboard. When I got this one it just reminded me of it the creamy feel of the switches, and the thocky sound of the keys are great for this price. Primarily use it for my Windows desktop computer, but you can easily change it to an apple computer! Have had it for almost 6 months and have never regretted my purchase!
This keyboard sounds super good straight out the box and has such good customisability. Great Bluetooth connection and the lighting is bright and vibrant.
This keyboard is a great beginner keyboard for anyone starting in the hobby. Pretty solid build, not much modding needed and it’s hot swappable with 3 and 5 pins so you can test other switches/keycaps. Epomaker’s customer service was amazing. I had a few switches that had a slight ping noise and they sent additional switches for me, although I could’ve lubed them up myself, I had not lubed switches before so this was very appreciated.
What can I say? Perfect keyboard in almost every way. Wired/wireless, Bluetooth or 2.4GHz dongle, hot swappable with all known switches, quality keycaps, great RGB (if that’s your thing) and just beyond all expectations.
I’ve used every keyboard you can think of from every brand over the years. Razer, HyperX, SteelSeries, Logitech, ASUS, EVGA, MSI, etc. This keyboard is just a dream. I mean you can literally mod it to your liking. It’s 75% form factor, which is perfect for me.
***Only con for me is mine didn’t come with the keycap puller/switch puller or the spare switches. Other than that it’s perfect. I’m not going to deduct from the score for a packaging error or perhaps somebody at a warehouse opening it.
GO BUY IT!!!!
I’m not one for leaving a review immediately after just receiving this item, but damn this feels good to type on. I have the gateron pro yellows and if you are after the thocky and creamy sound go with this. The switches combined with this case feels and sounds incredible.
This is my second keyboard I’ve purchased, and I have heard amazing reviews on EPOMAKER, I purchased the TH80 Monet because of how absolutely beautiful the board looked. I love the color scheme and also the overall aesthetic of the board. It’s truly a very nicely built especially for it’s pricing point. I have no complaints with the bluetooth as I barely ever use the bluetooth function as I am very much a wired person for keyboard (mostly because it has a stronger connection compared to the bluetooth). I have heard complaints about the poor quality of the battery and also bluetooth connection, but I am not going to comment on that as I haven’t used it before and will not plan to use it.
The only major complaint I have is please have better quality control some of my keycaps came scuffed with small scratches and also dirt which I cannot seem to clean them off. Especially the side of my keyboard has a rather visible scuff mark again, cannot clean it off but luckily it’s not visible from afar unless if you like have a close up look. Some of the keycaps had some scrap pieces of plastic coming off from the bottom. It’s very disappointing to see considering this is a $130AUD keyboard. Despite these are slightly minor damages, I just feel like if a customer is paying this much $100+ isn’t consider really a “budget friendly” board. Since you have keyboards such razer, corsair and other big company names that have made higher quality keyboards that are under the price of this.
Overall, I am very pleased with my board! I am very happy the built came with a gasket-like mount as I always wanted one myself. The switches are so BEAUTIFUL! WOW! I LOVE THE SOUND OF THEM! It’s so amazing, after tape modding it the sound is so nice and just really a overall nice typing experience.
I am very happy with my purchase, but please ensure better quality control if you’re planning to charge a keyboard $100+ when people pay this much, they expect good quality.
I didn’t think you can get a prebuilt keyboard that “thocks” like that, especially for this price. Connectivity is fast enough, build quality is great, although the top “see through” plastic squeeks a bit when you pick up the keyboard, but no noise when its placed down and used. Overall great experience!

The keyboard is absolutely amazing. I went for the blue switches, and it’s possibly the most satisfying thing to type on ever! It is responsive, you KNOW when a key is pressed, and for someone who has to write a lot of papers, this is perfect as it simply just feels good and makes the typing process a lot nicer.
I initially ran into an issue with the battery on this thing, but the customer service immediately fixed the issue, and I got a fully working keyboard! The battery fully works, and there are no issues as the service was fast and tried their best to fix it.
The battery is great and lasts as advertised, and it’s especially handy how you can switch Bluetooth devices easily, as I like to go from typing on my laptop to my tablet no the train, and then my work PC!
UPDATE 18/08/2022:
It most definitely is a defective battery which is disappointing. Even with all the keyboard lights off, the battery only lasts for 2 hours max, far below what they advertised.

I really like the keyboard, but it must have a defective battery. The Bluetooth keeps reporting its on 2% battery left, sometimes it turns off, even after I fully charged it. This is not good considering they advertised an 80 hour battery life.
I purchased the Gateron Pro Yellow switch version, these are pre-lubed and to my experience are smooth with no sign of scratching, I may try out some tactile switches from Epomaker at a later date. One of the best things I like about this keyboard are the keycaps, these are MDA profile PBT keycaps which feel quality and thick – they are slightly flat, I haven’t had any problems typing as the keyboard is angled. They make a nice sound …”thocky” to me. It did take a few days to get used to the US key layout, I find the smaller ‘Enter’ key and short right shift not ideal. A Euro key layout version would be bettter. I don’t usually have any lights on the keyboard – but the latest software from the manufacture means you can change to a solid colour or all off, you could also use the key shortcuts to adjust the RGB. The only bad points would be that the wireless connection sometimes disconnects, but as I usually use this pluged-in, this is not usually a problem, also the ‘CTRL’ key has a green light on when charging – this light goes out when fully charged – not a problem. I would totally recommend this keyboard, it’s a quality piece of kit that can be fully customised and it has a volume knob…
Good value for money and somewhat thoccy out the box because of the gas mount and foam included within board. Won’t bother to mod since great as is and will just change the switches (hot swappable). Bluetooth works seamlessly without any disconnections so far and battery lasts for more than a week with heavy use without lights on – tend to use with cable which is unobtrusive though. PBT keycaps and nice weight to it. No need to spend more. throughly recommend.
Ordered this as a result of a thorough research on what is a good entry level and worth it 75% keyboard and this one came on the top on its own price point. Quite “thocky” and satisfying to use that even my partner who doesn’t like the sound of mechanical keyboards liked it.
WOW, I am so happy with my purchase. I bought the blue switch of this product and finally can say I have a keyboard that has been so fluid and snappy to type with! I audio-type as part of my job so have been overjoyed to be typing all day long on this beautiful little keyboard.
I would so recommend to anyone looking for their first mechanical keyboard; this is such good quality and value for money!
Coming from a Durgod Tauros 320 TKL which was more expensive, this was a massive upgrade in terms of sound. As someone who would rather not get into modding keyboards due to cost and time constraints, this was nearly perfect for me. The gateron pro yellows feel so smooth to type on and sound very satisfying with no ping at all. The yellow and the other linear options will be great if you live in a shared household as they’re very quiet as well. The keycaps feel smooth to the touch, and won’t get slippery anytime soon due to them being PBT. I can’t emphasize enough how great it feels and sounds as it’s comparable to more expensive and modded keyboards.
In terms of any cons, they’re mainly nitpicky. I wish the keycaps had the FN shortcuts printed on them as I don’t want to rely on the manual to use them. Out of all the stabilizer buttons, the only one with some rattle is the enter key (although this may vary due to QA). And my main grip is that when it’s being used in wired mode, the ‘CTRL’ button is constantly lit green to indicate that it’s charging. You can turn this off by turning off the RGB lights all together, but it would be nice to be able to use them without the charging indicator. The reason I still give it 5 stars, is that the affordable price more than makes up for these cons.
I had to return it as this is an ANSI layout which wasn’t clear from the advert. However, this an amazing keyboard. The yellow Pro switches, knob, keys. I’d love one but this manufacturer doesn’t do ISO layouts. Shame.
My board came with Gateron Pro Black switches. I primarily used the TH80 with a PC running Windows 10.
The EPOMAKER Theory TH80 comes in a blue cardboard box. Besides the board itself, the package included a user manual, a keycap puller, and a braided USB-C to USB-A cable.
The EPOMAKER Theory TH80 has a plastic case with a medium bezel and rounded corners. The TH80 is even heavier than the Akko 3068B. The keyboard has a recessed USB-C port on the left side of the board. The bottom of the board has retractable feet to raise the typing angle, a small switch to activate the board’s wireless functionality, and an inbuilt slot which holds the board’s 2.4 GHz wireless receiver when not being used. USB ports are a prized commodity on my PC, so I did not use the 2.4 GHz receiver. I did use the Bluetooth functionality in conjunction with a generic dongle. I used the TH80 at my desk 1–1.5 meters from my computer, so I do not have a real sense of the limits of the wireless range. The keyboard goes into a power-saving sleep mode when using the Bluetooth mode and requires a second or two after an initial input to wake up and begin registering keystrokes.
The EPOMAKER Theory TH80 is my first 75% keyboard. Coming from a more compressed 65% layout, I sometimes hit the “Page Up” or “Page Down” buttons when reaching for the “Delete” key. I do not understand the selection of “Page Up” and “Page Down” as the two additional keys besides “Delete” along the exploded rightmost row of keys. I would rather have “Home” and “End.” Thankfully, these keys can be rebound in the keyboard’s optional software suite. As always, I greatly appreciate having dedicated arrow keys.
The EPOMAKER Theory TH80 includes a knob in the top right-hand corner. I frequently forgot it was there and had to remind myself to make use of it. Part of this is force of habit from using the Windows controls to adjust volume for so long. Additionally though, the knob is harder to actuate than it probably should be. It has very defined steps but the level of resistance that must be overcome to turn the knob is excessive.
The keycaps are dye-sub PBT in MDA profile. MDA is a reduced height SA variant. I do not like this profile as much as Akko’s ASA profile or Epomaker’s own GSA profile. MDA is still higher profile than I would like. The quality of the dye-sub is mostly excellent. The outlines of letters and symbols are very sharp, and the keycaps feel both smooth to the touch and robust in terms of build quality. However, the thickness of lines and lettering is inconsistent for many of the non-alpha keys.
The EPOMAKER Theory TH80 makes use of polyethylene (PE) foam and has the marble-y sound associated with PE. The board is fairly muted in terms of volume. The consistency of the factory lube on the Gateron Pro Black switches is good for the most part but there are some keys which are noticeably scratchier than others. The TH80 has very good stock stabilizers on the modifiers, but the spacebar is not as smooth sounding or feeling. The spacebar appears slightly warped, and there is a slight rattle.
The LED backlighting appears to be limited to solid colors and static RGB without the use of the associated software. Even with the software, the lighting mode options seem limited. The RGB lighting itself is very bright, and the LEDs are south-facing, which eliminates potential interference with Cherry profile keycaps.
The software allows the user to rebind every key other than the default function key, and offers a robust selection of alternative keybindings. This selection includes the media control functions but not the wireless or or backlight controls. I did not use the software for during my review period, as I was mostly satisfied with the stock shortcuts. Worth noting is that some shortcuts, such as “Print Screen” do not match up with what the manual indicates they ought to be. Unfortunately, the user does not appear to be able to add additional function keys.
Overall, the EPOMAKER Theory TH80 is a good prebuilt mechanical keyboard but I recommend lubing the switches yourself and touching up the stabilizers to make it sound and feels its best.
