Build quality feels great. It needs eq adjustment which i found a reddit post which explains how to do it. Without the eq tweaks its very flat sounding. Sounds amazing with eq.
After an impressive 8 years of use, my Sennheiser Game Zero headphones, originally priced at $250 and now a steal at $75, continue to astound with their enduring quality. The sound quality remains top-notch, offering an immersive audio experience that rivals many newer models. Paired with a Sound Blaster Z sound card, these headphones deliver crisp, clear sound that enhances every gaming session. Their durability is commendable, easily withstanding the test of time without any compromise in performance. This combination of high-quality audio and lasting build makes the Sennheiser Game Zero a wise investment for any audiophile or gaming enthusiast looking for reliable, superior sound.
I bought this because it’s a Sennheiser, which is well known for quality stuff. Yeah, it’s an older model with no Bluetooth, but this pair is well made, not flimsy at all. Mic works well, and that’s important for my Skype calls. Sometimes these headphones don’t sit very well on my head, but after spending a bit of time adjusting them, they are reasonably comfortable. I like how Sennheiser got all the important basics of sound transport right with reliable, quality components. You can have headphones that sit comfortably on your head, but have unreliable circuitry and crappy sound, and cost easily 3-4 times what I paid for my pair.
Life long proud Sennmeister.
This old bastard has the audio advantage in any/all multiplayer shooters.
The sound/mic/construction quality gets me stacks of Gen-Z kills in the Warzone.
Their tears give me power.
It tends to get loose over time, the cable twists inside its sleeve and the connecting big into the left war has a tendency of cutting half the counts if its not puggled in just right. That said, it has a great microphone and very decent sound quality. I like i
TL/DR Bass light but great value, mic is good as well ( better than steelseries and hyper x but not as good as my previous PC 38x)
Got this for 25 bucks like new and damn!!!! For a guy who has had the 38x, H6 pro open and closed this headset has insane value! Great Soundstage for a closed back, playing D4 has never been so clean! I also listened to some music on my Fiio KA3 w/ amazon high fidelity audio and sounds great.
1 big but is this thing is not bassy at all, if you like some thunder this is not for you. If you can snag these for anything 50 and under they are a steal of a deal bc they come with both wires for your PC and console. They sound find through my X box controller but better with my steel series DAC.
This EPOS I SENNHEISER GAME ZERO Gaming Headset has decent speakers, but the red accent color did not match my setup; I do not like the metal part of the headset where the ‘L’ and ‘R’ are engraved into; The microphone sounds terrible like a normal gaming headset(I expected the microphone to sound so much better than it does). I love my Sennheiser HD 598 and HD 599 headphones, but this gaming headset just needs a little tweak to the drivers to sound just as good, and I wish the microphone sounded much better for the cost of this product.
Pros: Most comfy headset I’ve ever had under 100$, great frequency range that’ll allow you to hear stuff in songs and games that you didn’t know existed, the noise cancelling is pretty good and reminds me of my Bose QC headset.
Cons: Bass is lacking in this headset out of the box but I added bass boost from Windows settings and I was fine with that. For better sound you can get programs or hardware to adjust how much you hear.
As the title says, the headband leaves a mark on my head and squishes down my hair well into the next day. I had to change my haircut because of how much it presses and “irons” down the hair. Beyond how much clamping is involved, I think that because the headband is so thin, it exxagerates how much pressure is exerted.
The ear pads also have a high clamping force and there are red marks around my ears for a few hours after use. The sound is great but because of the tightness of the headphone, I don’t enjoy using it.
Also, probably because of the closed back, there is some sort of weird sucking, void, feeling that I get in my ears and I feel like my ears are being assaulted even though I have the same volume setting as an open ear version with the HD580.
It’s nice that the outside noise is low and the sound quality is great but overall I don’t enjoy wearing the headphones and wish I had my money back to spend on another pair.
Muy buena calidad. Funciona perfecto con consolas o en PC.
Great pair of headphones overall. This did take some time to mess with the settings to make them actually sound great. I’m not sure if anyone else had this experience but upon first use, they sounded pretty bad. After I played with the settings and made sure it wasn’t a driver issue these headphones sounded great.
Microphone is decent. Seems to be kind of tinny when used on discord or teams. It is consistent throughout usage though, even if the quality isn’t stellar. I didn’t notice any popping or crackling. Once you and your friends get used to how you sound, its not so bad.
I recommend these if you value sound quality over microphone quality. They feel sturdy so far and I haven’t noticed any faults with daily use.
The Sennheiser game zero headphones did not disappoint. They have good sound quality and they are extremely comfortable, but because they are closed backed your ears will start to get warm while wearing them. It comes in a semi-solid case making it more portable and storable(I don’t really think anyone would use the case to carry them around). The cable Is removable which is good if you are playing on console and pc because it allows you to switch out the cables to play on different platforms, but because of it being removable you might hear a bit of static every now and then when the volume is higher, but it isn’t a really big problem. It has a lacking bass response, it is very precise, but lacks the oomph sound that some people want with explosions and gunshots. It has a amazing microphone that sounds good when talking to friends in a game. Overall I would definitely recommend getting this headset as it is pretty top of the line and I would probably put it in my top 10 headsets.
Bought these almost exactly 3 years ago and honestly it was one of the best purchases I thought for a wired headset. Comes with a decent case and they fold neatly in it for travel and include a split audio cord and typical headphone jack cord for use with phones and such. They sound great, and though some complain of the lack of bass there is enough there to know it but not knock your socks off. But overall quality is great for the price and the mic as well has superb quality and design. I noticed some over complaints of volume, but I have a custom $2,000+ ROG desktop and no external soundboard/mixer and the volume on windows never gets past 40/100 and I even leave a small bit of room on the headset’s volume wheel too.
That said, after 3 years one of the ear’s covers is splitting on the stitching so the foam is visible, and the material is pretty cracked and worn with some bits splitting off on the inner side of the cups (none of this actually has an effect on comfort when worn but is looking pretty worn-out)) Now, I don’t take any real care of them other than not abusing them and throwing around, but no care products and no frequent wipe-downs for dust and dirt like I should be doing often. So that’s mostly on me…I’d say 3 years was worth it and would totally recommend still. Judging from reviews of others, now that I want a newer and slightly upgraded one, I almost still think it’s be better to buy one of these older Sennheiser models.
Debes jugar un poco con los ajustes de la computadora, pero fuera de eso, es un excelente producto, 10/10.
I got this headset at a discounted price as I bought a used pair. The headset is very comfortable and I have no issues with sizing. The closed-back design isolates noise out but is not too extreme where you cannot hear anything from the outside (such as voices), however, it did block out my fan enough for me to forget it was even on. The sound quality out of the box is…. strange. Very low amounts of bass, I’m guessing this is useful for footsteps in games, however, this makes any other content sound hollow. I ended up getting a cheap dac/amp and this completely fixed the problem of hollowness and even a bit of the base. I guess my motherboard was just not able to handle the headphones very well.
you can hardly feel them. wearable for hours and hours.
I have a lot of Sennheiser products. In fact, I already had two of these headsets. I had to buy a third because the connection of the earpiece bracket cracked and it will no longer fit on my head correctly.
I use one of the two headsets every day at work for 8-12 hours. I use the second one at home. I understand with that much use, things may break. I don’t have a problem with that – and the headsets work quite well.
When one of the headsets broke, I immediately purchased another of the exact same model. I couldn’t wait for repairs so I ordered a third one for immediate delivery.
My issue is that after receiving the third headset, I have been unable to get any service from Sennheiser nor from EPOS global, which is apparently the company that took over the Sennheiser headset division.
I’m not asking them to repair the bracket for free. I will pay to get it fixed. They simply won’t help me.
The product is great, as are all of my other Sennheiser microphones and headsets. Just don’t buy it thinking that they will stand behind their products and help you when something goes wrong.
I use this primarily for online work meetings and don’t use it for more than 1-2 hours each day.
The headset is comfortable but not luxuriously so. My ears get sweaty when the room is hot. The pressure is fine and the unit is light enough.
The mic is great! I love the ability to mute the mic by flipping the boom up. I never forget to unmute myself when it’s time to talk. The boom is adjustable so it’s easy to get the down position just right.
I bought this Game Zero, rather than the Game One, because it had the closed back style. I was worried about being distracted by noise in the room and the closed back blocks more outside sound.
The disadvantage to this design is that your voice doesn’t sound natural to your ears. Because there is no “side tone” (playback of mic input to your headphones) to make up for this it takes time and effort to learn to speak at the right volume. If you don’t need to block ambient sound I recommend the Game One, which has an open back, instead.
I’m not a gamer so I can’t comment on its usefulness for that. For music it’s sufficient. There’s nothing seriously out of balance.
FEBRUARY 2021 UPDATE: I gave the Game Zero to my son and bought a Game One. I like the Game One more. The sound quality is better, since I can hear myself speak I’m more comfortable, and noise from the room isn’t significantly higher.
[Mic] 3/5
Pros: Voice sounds crystal-clear, Raising mic arm mutes mic
Cons: Voice sounds very low, Not detachable, Not flexible, No Sennheiser software
Comment: While your voice will sound clear, it will also sound abnormally low. Since the mic arm is not flexible, you cannot put the mic closer to your face and since the mic arm isn’t detachable, you can’t replace the mic with another one (like a V-Moda Boom Pro). I did not use any external sound card, I just plugged in the headset into the analog jacks on my PC. My motherboard has an onboard sound card (Realtek HD Audio) and after playing with the mic volume settings using Realtek HD Audio Manager and Windows, I found that putting the microphone at 100% volume with a mic boost of +10db was the only way people would hear me on Discord without me having to speak abnormally loud nor having the quality be garbage (boosting the mic volume artificially, i.e. +20db or +30db, will ruin the quality of your voice).
[Comfort]: 3/5 personally, 4/5 realistically
Pros: Lightweight (made completely out of plastic), XXL cups, Adjustable
Cons: Hard to get right fit for large heads, Feels heavy on your ears after a period of time, Traps plenty of heat (however, cups are made out of leatherette; therefore, it’s easy to wipe off sweat)
Comment: This headset has plenty of reasons for it to feel comfortable; however, for me personally, I struggle to get a good fit. Plenty of pressure gets applied to the top of my head or the top of my ears, depending on the position. With regards to heat being trapped, that is normal for closed-back headsets. Thankfully, the cups are leatherette, thus making it easier to wipe off sweat.
[Detachability/Accessories] 3/5
Pros: Cups are detachable, Wire is detachable
Cons: Mic is not detachable, Does not come with extra cups, Does come with an extra wire but y-splitter is needed (not included)
Comment: Two things that tend to deteriorate over time for any headset are the cups and the wire. While the cups are removable, you will have to buy another pair of cups. The wire is also detachable, so if the wire loosens or tears, you won’t have to get a new headset. However, you will have to buy a new wire or a y-splitter (since these come with one wire with a mic and audio jack and one wire with only one jack).
[Sound] 5/5. The reason to consider the headset!
Pros: Crystal-clear naturally sounding audio, Not unbearable at 100% volume
Cons: Lack of heavy bass (a pro for me), No virtual surround sound (a pro for me)
Comment: Best audio you can get from a headset for the price. The sounds produced are fantastic. I used it for gaming (tactical shooters) and it was amazing at pinpointing where footsteps were coming from.
[Isolation] 5/5
Pros: Great noise-isolation
Cons: N/a
Comment: You will not hear any external noise (not even your voice) while using your headset and playing audio. Perfect for competitive gaming and loud environments.
[Overall] 4/5
If you want a headset that sounds amazing and does a great job at isolating sound, then this is the headset for you. However, I recommend using an external sound card or a DAC/Amp if you want to really crank up the volume produced by the headset (not necessary, just your preference). I also suggest that you use another mic (either a Modmic or an external USB/XLR mic) if you want your voice to sound naturally louder.
Sound quality and mic quality is as good as some even more pricy gear. Great surround imersive gaming. One of the better mics. The case it comes with is a neat convenient travel feature. My only dislikes are that the headset can be alittle too warm in hot climates, there is no adapter included for single ports like a PS4 controller, there are no controls to balence between only voices to only audio, and the headset can rest uncomfortably against glasses wearers after 4h+ use.
Dollar for dollar this is still king of gaming headsets.
Its Sennheiser, need i say more.
Im kinda disappointed but I dont feel it’s the cans fault which is why im still giving them 4 stars. Also ive only had them two days and the soundblaster g6 one day. Coming from hyper cloud and cloud 2’s, while using them through my controller or my clouds usb sound card, the sound is almost night and day. Alot of reviews kind of overhype them but they live up to it. Go back an play a game you’ve million times with these, the soundstage is going to be fuller and more alive. They are also pretty comfortable. I wear glasses and gamed for several hours with no issues. The mic is pretty good as well. One thing you have to keep in mind is you have amplify these to really bring them to life. Like an amp for the sub in your car. Using them with my g6 on my ps4p or my laptop the sound was louder but the clarity wasn’t there. They sound muddy and cheap. So im going to continue to make adjustments on my g6, it may be user error. That said I’d still recommend these.
Fantastic headset, fits snug and is comfy. Sound quality is great, microphone is great, and it’s very portable. Comes with a travel case that is small and not at all inconvenie
These are really good, low profile and high quality. Would recomend to anyone who wants a high quality non-bulky headset.
Its not bad. The mic quality is immaculate. You will NOT find a better mic quality for the price. The outgoing audio is immaculate.
However, there are a couple minor draw backs. I was using this for gaming which its decent for. I found the part that was tough was that you cannot adjust the actual microphone to go closer to your mouth. While i like the style of it being static, this feature makes it hard for people to hear you. I ended up having to boost my microphone in my recording settings because I couldnt put the mic closer to my face. Such an simple thing is SUCH a bummer…. it wasnt easy to get people to hear me.
Also, for music, this should NOT be your primary headset. I got this because i have a really nice pair of studio monitor headphones for listening to music. These have terrible audio for most tunes. its very Midrange heavy.
All in all, for gaming this is a pretty good mic and I gave it 4 stars because the audio quality in the games is pretty good, the mic is really clear, its really comfortable and its simple, which I like.
Bought the open acoustic first and then I realized I really prfre these closed acoustic. I see no disadvantages in any, only depending on your needs. I prfre not hearing my surroundings or even myself talking when I’m playing. I only want to hear the game. Base is also louder in closed acoustic.
Very comfortable, no pressure points, ideal size and lightweight.
Love the ear cups, comfortable, don’t even feel it after long sessions and it only gets more comfortable with wear. I found it “hollow” sounding, for lack of a better term, out of the box, but once you adjust it, the headset sounds real nice.
An excellent headset all around, flip mic to mute is a great feature plus comes with all the cables you need. You don’t NEED an audio card, but if you want to experience everything these cans are capable of, then it is a worthwhile investment.
Comfort was my top priority, and I am completely satisfied with that! The padding is very comfy, and the cans really go around the ear – they don’t touch my ears at all. The sound isolation is impressive; it blocks out a lot even without music, and if I do play music, it can block out the annoying loud neighbors completely. (Such a relief!) The sound is fantastic! With these, I can hear sounds that I never picked up through external speakers.
I also tested the microphone, and it is a very good quality mic. I have used it for both chat as well as phonecalls. I love that it automatically mutes the mic when you rotate it up. I do wish the mic was removable, but it’s pretty much out of the way if you put it all the way up, so that’s fine. The whole headset folds up nicely, and the hard carrying case keeps it safe when packed, so I don’t have to worry about it. I am very impressed with the quality of every part of this headset. Looks great, too.
It’s Sennheiser. Maybe not as good as their high end models, but they’re far better than anything else in the price range. You can’t even compare these to your average gaming headset.
Many of the criticisms against this headset are either outdated about the 150 ohm version or over things such as music quality that were not the design intention behind the headset. It was not intended to be a great headset for music or movies. It’s true that the sound quality is rather flat, the bass is lacking, the highs are tinny, but I don’t care about any of that because that is not the reason I bought this headset.
This headset was created with the sole intention of accurately presenting the positions of sound, and it exceeds at it amazingly. For competitive action/fps gamers that rely on these sort of inputs to make split second judgments this performance metric is the only one that matters. I’ve been gaming competitively in Quake and Counter-Strike for 15 years now, and I have yet to hear a headset that is this accurate. For example in counter-strike, If I am retaking B bombsite on Dust2 as a CT I can tell instantly if a reload sound I am hearing is coming from closet behind the car, or the B tunnels. I can tell whether a guy is on the back of the site platform or slightly closer to me in the site by the stacked boxes. I could give you tons of examples but the point is that I am never left guessing at exactly where a sound is coming from. I always know the exact position instantly. I have previously used the hd555s and hd558s for more than a decade, and they are great headsets, but they are a peg below the game zero when it comes to positional accuracy. The mic is also quite clear. My friends have all complimented it as a definite upgrade over my previous desktop microphone.
My conclusions is this: If you are looking for a headset that can multi-role and give you both a great gaming and music experience, I’d suggest one of sennheiser’s new line of hd 559, 569, or 599s. But if you are a serious competitive gamer that needs to have the absolute best positional audio and are willing to sacrifice quality in other areas for it, pick these up. There’s nothing better in the $100-200 range.
I got these heaphones two years ago and ever since I was happy, for the sound quality, if you have a good sound card or amp, you can hear them at 100% The microphone is ok, but the best for me is how comfortable they are, I can get 4 hours with these headphones on and they just float on my ear, so much so that I dont feel them! they dont make any cracking sound, and they feel sturdy and stround. the plastic feels nice and don’t get finger prints on, the only thing is the earcups, the fake leather started to decay, but I’m happy to see that I can get a new pair for 40$! Anyway, don’t be afraid, you won’t regret buying them.
I had a Hyperx cloud 2 and upgrade to the Game Zero… it have better sound and way better product quality. The mic is also unbeatable with great voice quality
I’ve owned the Game One headset, and now the Game Zero. First, there are some minor differences, and these should be taken into account before you buy either:
– Game One is an open back headset.
– You can hear things around you with the One, the Zero has really effective noise cancelation.. (I’ve missed doorbells and people talking to me right next to me)
– The sound quality on the Game One is slightly better, I think. The Game Zero has a little bit of an auditorium style sound to it, which is really vague and hard to explain. I’d say go into a store and see if there are demo models you can check out.
– Game Zero has a weird swivel thing right above the ear cups. Doesn’t impact anything, but odd.
Now, the Game Zero focused review:
It’s a great headset. Sennheiser has amazing audio quality, the headset design is bulky but effective, and the audio cable is replaceable. All great things. The mic is clear and awesome, and you’ll hear your games or others clearly.
The not so awesome:
I’m not really sure why, but the Game Zero has a bit of a echo chamber effect that you might get from being in an auditorium. This messed with me a little bit, but I don’t notice much now. They’re bulky… really bulky. They’re not really meant to be portable, though. The mute being raising the mic up is a bit obnoxious. Mostly because I always forget to lower the mic to speak again, but this is minor.
Overview:
Great headset. Has a few minor things, but they’re incredibly minor. I wish the volume and mute was easier to use, but the way it’s designed just takes getting used to. I’m happy with it.
I can wear these for hours without any discomfort and I’m very happy with the sound quality of both the output and input. A decent soundcard/amp is recommended for PC use. I don’t have any first hand experience on how well these work with consoles.
Headset and adapter arrived in perfect working order, integrated very well with iphone7
A very clean headset. Everything is so balanced and the build quality is phenomenal. They feel great, sound great, look great. Mic mutes when you flip it up, sound control on the side. Couldn’t ask for a better product.
great headset , if you buy them make sure you have a sound card
I am reserving updated starts for after I get it and try it out. I searched for months for a gaming set I could use in a call center experience. I have Asperger’s (a form or autism) and sensory processing disorder, so I can’t use standard call canter headsets. I have to have something that will block out all of the noise around me, let me hear my caller, and my caller hear me without picking up everyone else around me. Right now I am using Scroll H5GX (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KLQZZRA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it just isn’t enough. I use Onvian RJ9 Male to 2 3.5mm Female Headset Phone MIC Audio Splitter Adapter Cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2QELT4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to adapt it to a Callmaster 5 Avaya phone system. So I have had to do research and modifications because I am not using them for typical usage. So far, spec wise, the Game Zero is what I have found that fits my needs best. I am scheduled to get them Friday, so I will be able to test them out on Saturday. I have read 1 review (after hours of searching) that the adapter and headset are compatible in an office environment. It is important for me to try and give a review, because I know I am not the only person that can adapt these things for disabilities. I wear glasses, so they are going to have to be comfortable with 8-12 hours of call time with glasses. Clarity is very important, so I can’t have a muffled experience. I deal with escalations regarding cell phone service, extreme billing and technical problems, tax problems, military, number migrates/port ins, warranty issues, and callbacks, just to name a few things. In the company I work for, I am the person you speak to before going to corporate (so if you call me and ask me for help, be nice. No matter how angry you are at a rep or company, if you are nice to the rep, the rep in most cases will bend over backwards for you to make you happy. Attitude goes a long way. Now back to topic). I know almost all reviews have been for gaming a pc use, but I am going to try to adapt these fro the work world. Branch out the brand if you will. Keep an eye out for my updated review. I would get some audio and video for comparison, but sorry, no cell phones or recording equipment allowed on the floor.
When you get a high quality headset you will see what you were missing, you may have thought your old set sounded fantastic but that’s only because it’s the best you’ve heard, well these will blow you away but be warned do visit there website to see what kind of sound card is needed older motherboards won’t have the support for these babies and the sound will be dull and flat and you may think it’s the headset….nope you diidn’t’ look at the requirements. I use these for gaming which really is a crime there quality is far beyond anything a game will ever dish out but if your willing to pay the price they are well worth it.
Some reviews complained about plastic material but most headsets are due to the light weight so long usage doesn’t cause strain on the neck. They can fold up for traveling purposes and come with a very nice case the cord is very long and the microphone is crisp and clear. Of course the closed ear cuts out external noise like I never would have dreamed, the wife’s comp is right beside me and I don’t even hear her when she’s talking to me.. FANTASTIC!!!!
Excelentes audfonos.
Two years later and still looks and performs like brand new! Super comfy with glasses, you can wear this for hours and hours without discomfort-you start to forget you even have a headset on! If you’re looking for a top tier quality gaming headset-this is the best deal that you’ll be able to find
Son muy buenos pero para lo que los uso no tanto, yo habitualmente juego en PS4 y al jugar ah se pierde demasiada potencia, en cambio para pc estn muy bien. Hay para que vayan checando ese dato
So these headsets are amazing when it comes to the audio quality. It this after all from Sennheiser so that it is to be expected.HOWEVER, you will need an amp/dac/sound card with these otherwise the sound will be low and muffled.Once you have one of the required things mentionned though…Holy cow ! Those baby will blow your mind with how good the sound is.If they’re powered up right the sound will be crystal clear. The two downside that I could think of is that you will need to probably spend another 100 bucks for an amp/dac/sound card to make these headsets worth it.Also the mic isn’t bad but it isn’t mind blowing.Overall,I would still recommend these for their price especially if you need a pair that comes with an okay microphone.
Pros
– You can smell the lyrics with these headphones.
– Very clear sound
– Endless cable
– Excellent mic
– Good sound positioning ( feels like cheating in games like CSGO )
– Feels premium, even the case is premium, no useless stuff meddled in it.
Cons
– You will need an amp
– The headphone at first has sort of “veiled” bass and deeps but eventually evens up after some use.
Update: Used these almost everyday for 4 years. The cord is showing wear and there are weird bumps from tangling. All n all they still work perfect, the original ear pads are still in great shape. I bought a new headset yesterday, a wireless one because frankly the wire is annoying as hell. Theres nothing wrong with this set, i just want to be able to stand and walk away form my desk. If you don’t mind the wire, I put this through its paces and they stood up to daily usage over 4 years, get them.
I went from a Logitech G930 to this. Although it’s more expensive I think it’s worth it. I wouldn’t treat this as a headset for audiophiles, it’s a massive improvement over my G930s but I have owned a pair of Sennheiser HD 500 series and you simply cant compare. The ZEROs do beat all other RAZOR, Logitech, whatever other garbage headset you can think of. These are also super comfortable. I thought the G930s were good at 8 hours of play time before issues, the ZEROs I tested this last weekend, I played Skyrim for 11 hours and the headset was perfect the whole time. No discomfort whatsoever.
I only have 1 issue but I don’t think this is an issue with the headset so much as with discord but I’m not 100% sure. When I am hanging out in my discord channel and I have the mic set to auto detect for input, if I have my headphones volume turned up high other people in the channel can hear some of the noise coming from the headphones.(example) I was playing skyrim and during the battles people in the channel could sometimes hear a brief second or two of shield bashing and horse neighing. I confirmed that it was not from another source, it was 100% from the headphones. I guess I have to manually set discord mic sensitivity. My friends did say that when I talk through the mic it’s like I’m standing next to them so that shows the level of quality this mic is.
Excellent sound quality. Very comfortable when wearing it for long time. Compact when folded. Shields external noise very well. Good for both listening and monitoring during audio/video recording. I wish the microphone could be removable and attached when needed.
So there are a couple things that are really nice about this headset that I was looking for when purchasing.
First is that they are closed style which allows less sound to come in and may let you feel more immersed in the game. The earcups fit great, are made of leather (which is my preferred material for these things), but on the downside they do trap a fair amount of heat and require the occasional “venting” and you will hear the cord in the left earpiece if you happen to rub it which can be fairly annoying at times. The cord itself is thankfully replaceable now, glad Sennheiser decided to update the design in this regard.
Second is a great mic which does a good job of cancelling background noise if you live in a noisy house. The mic isn’t detachable which is
disappointing but it does mute when you fold it up and clicks when it does. It sounds good as well, about as good as it gets for a small boom mic like this.
Lastly is sound quality, which overall does sound a bit hollow (coming from the proud owner of a pair of HD 598s, which are phenomenal) but it excels in gameplay. It’s much easier to hear things like footsteps and enemy fire in FPS games for example and that seems like the most important aspect of a “gaming” headset. I would recommend pairing this with a good speaker set or sound card that will power this guy up properly to get the most out of them.
Other things worth nothing is that they clamp securely (but not too tight), are extremely good for long hour sessions, fold up nicely in their case, and light enough that you don’t really notice that you are wearing them.
Comfy sounds amazing i made the mistake of buying the mmx300, these are so much comfier on my ears and head. The mm300 clamped on my head so much gave me headaches. all around game zero best headset i have ever used.
Sennheiser has great respect from the gaming community and this headset doesn’t betray that respect at all.
Pros:
-Leatherette Material feels great and won’t get fabric/hair/particles getting stuck inside of it making cleaning it easy when needed. The material is also preferred by many who finds fabric material to absorb sweat/oil/etc from their ear/head area. I also find the material to help with the cups not heating up over time.
-Great sound! Coming from my previous headset that was a RAZER Caracharias this is a big jump in quality and clarity. For gaming and general music it does the job for sure and you do notice the whole directional sounds and such on a scale of 7/10. If you’re an audiophile than you likely shouldn’t be buying “gaming” headsets as that’s not what their for and if you’re looking for those super good “I know where you are by your footsteps” headsets then you’re likely looking for something more expensive.
-Ease of use. Your typical plugin and play. Also comes with a connect that lets you use the headset for PS4 and mobile devices which is nifty.
-Carrying Case is nice even if you don’t plan to travel a lot with it. Though if you have children or pets that like to chew things this does give you somewhere to stow ’em away nice and safe.
-Microphone has great clarity and first time using it I got compliments on good volume and clarity of voice. Plus the ability to mute yourself by just raising the mic up is very handy.
Cons:
-Not exactly something I’d blame the headset for but you do have to fuss over the right position and settings of the headset when putting it on so it doesn’t squeeze your ears/head. Still very comfy by all means but just gotta get used to it if you’ve never had a headset that fits cozy on you.
-Nit picking here but wished the sides of the headsets arms where you adjust the size would have marks and possibly numbers so you know that both sides are set to the same spot and to remember which setting is perfect for you.
Overall:
–As someone who isn’t a headset specialist like many gamers claim to be these are very good! If you plan to game as your main hobby then you can’t go wrong with these at all 😀
Great headset. Mic sounds clear to others. Speakers are decent. Sometimes a little lacking in volume height, and bass is absent. Most likely resolved with a sound card or amplifier, neither of which are incorporated in my computer build, but soon will be.
The headset is very comfortable even with glasses. Even after hours straight of use up to 10 hours for me I have now issues with it. Mic is great for a headset an improvement from my astro a40 TR. sound quality is excellent as well as expected from a sennheiser product. Overall a great product!
These work great and the comfort can’t be beat, for pure awesome sound though I much prefer my Sol Republic headphones though.
Comfort 10/10
Sound 9/10
Material quality 10/10
Microphone 8/10
As a real gamer, i’m very satisfied with those. I would recommend to use Razor Synapse with it to virtualize a 7.1 surround audio.
I’m using my onboard audio Chipset wich is a good one on all Gigabyte Gaming z170 Series.
Thoses are getting every little details in every game. I love it.
With a proper driver these things bump. I use the soundblaster Zx soundcard with these and they definitely don’t lack bass. They have the signature warm Sennheiser sound I am a huge fan of (I have HD 558s and HD8 DJs), but they have a fantastic mic attached!
As far as sound goes they are kinda close to my 558s, but closed so its different. They fit just like the 558s as well (same ear cup design as 558s, 598s, 600s etc.). My only complaint with comfort is that I wish they offered velour ear pads for these as well, because you will sweat after wearing leather pads for a couple hours. Noise isolation is pretty damn good. I have had my roomate walk up and start talking to me while I’m playing a game and I didn’t even realize he was there.
The mic on these is probably the best you will find on any gaming headset. I have owned G930s and Turtle Beaches and I even have the antlion ModMic. The turtle Beaches probably sound the worst followed by the 930s and then by a wide margin the modmic comes in followed by this mic.
It is my honest opinion that this is the best gaming headset on the market.
It sounds the best by far, has the best mic, mutes when you put up the boom arm, and has a volume wheel on the right side. Only way this could be better is if it were wireless, however at 150 ohms I doubt this beautiful pair of headphones with its fantastic built in mic would really sound like it should on batteries.
Did I mention it comes in a nice case and folds flat? Seriously the best.
For the price they perform to the degree I would expect, from one of the best headphone makers on the planet. Exceptional build quilt. Excellent noise can calling mic, drivers strong and clear enough to make your ears bleed with happiness. All and all very happy with the purchase.
