One of the Best Buy I have made on Amazon it’s easy to use and easy to store 1 bad poin is if you over full it the sides push out and rub against the wheel after awhile it ripped it so just over fill it I used mine for fishing and shopping
I couldn’t decide between the folding bike trailer and the cargo bike trailer and the info online was quite vague…..so I bought both! (one will be returned.) For the rest of the review I will refer to the white one (folding trailer) and the red one (cargo trailer).
Similarities:
Both are quick and easy to assemble.
Both are really sturdy with metal bases (the info mentions a PP base for the white one)
The wheels and connection to the bike are the same and easy to fit.
The actual trailers are very similar in size, the white one is a tiny bit smaller but this is negligible.
Both are smooth to tow behind the bike.
Differences:
The red one has removable wheel protection bars. However, this makes the trailer much wider than listed (88.5cm) wide. If you take the protection bars off (which is quick and easy) they are both around the same width.
The white one has a zip opening in the top so you can get luggage in and out. The red one needs to have the whole cover removed. However, this probably makes it a little more waterproof.
Overall, I’m pleased with the trailer(s) but the longevity is yet to be seen. Will update when I’ve had the trailer for a while.
Although this is normally used as a cargo carrier fir a bicycle, I tow it behind my mobility scooter. To use it on my scooter, I used an “L” bracket to mount the towing pin. (You will not have to do this if used on a bicycle) I mounted the “L” bracket to the chassis of the scooter 2.5 inches to the LEFT of center. This would be the same offset from center is used on a bicycle because the wheel nut is about 2.5 inches from center. I can now carry my packages from town and do a big shop when I go to the supermarkets. It tows easily and does not affect the handling. Detaching from the towing scooter or a bicycle is simple and fast. I would recommend this trailer to anyone that needs a good sizeable trailer that is built to last forever. Also note that there is a zipper on the cover to allow access without removing the entire cover.
I bought the trailer for towing my fishing gear to the lake about half a mile away search various types and reviews on the web. After reading the reviews for this cart I settled on buying it. The reviews are pretty accurate and these are my findings after assembly.
Arrived next day great packaged well though box damaged in transit.
The Trailer is LARGE and could have been possibly be 2 thirds of the size to be perfect for my needs.
Construction is good not great but at the price point acceptable and time will tell for robustness.
Assembly is fairly easy up to the point of the wheels, the supplied C clips and tool are useless and you might as well throw them away a shame. Ordered a box of assorted C clips of better quality.
The wheels are average mass produced items first check is that the bearing hub is free running, one of mine wasn’t and took a time to get free with oil and cursing.
The fabric rubs on the wheels and will in time make a hole solutions still to be found.
To summarize a okay trailer which needs better design and engineering with faults that quality control should pick up but seems to be non existent. A frustrating wheel spindle and C clip system which truthful had me so frustrated I had to have a another cup of tea.
If you buy one of these trailers check the reviews because they are pretty on the money.
A cheap large trailer with a sturdy metal base plate, which with some work and ingenuity can be made practical. Tows very well with 30kg+ load. Good points: hitch and connector excellent, big capacity, sturdy solid metal base not fabric, big wheels. Bad points: when anything put inside, the soft fabric trailer sides push and rub against the wheels making it unusable without lining it with box or similar (I used the delivery box cut to shape but it will get soggy), axles/wheels have a lot of slack and no grease supplied-needed rethinking-different washers adding to tighten axle to mount and stop it crabbing from having loose wheels toeing/cambering badly on the axle, I then used own grease to avoid dry axle turning against the bearing shell without turning the bearing which would quickly wear the axle out and make the crabbing even worse. Very cheap wheels needed truing before use, hideous tyres not round needed attacking with belt sander when spun to correct poor moulding. (40psi to lessen bouncing on empty). There are no rear reflectives or light mounts and item is totally black at the rear so needs your own reflectors etc (and flag) fitting before use the size of it covers the ones fitted to the bike. No hook points for bungees or straps fitted. Not waterproof. No push handle or foot to keep it level off the bike or use as a push trailer, can overwhelm bike stand when loaded and tip bike over. Once amended, corrected, correctly specced, greased and properly built with hard sides to stop the fabric sides locking the wheels-and then filled with waterproof boxes or bags, it is a decent, very large capacity, metal baseboarded trailer which is only noticeable during initial start-off and under heavy braking-even when very loaded. Extra hitch mounts 9.86 for 2 on Amazon so it’s easy to leave hitch connectors on bikes and connect trailer as needed. Fits my standard bolt axle on my Dutch bike and Raleigh Courier, quick release axles on Cube electric bike, Specialized Allez and Carrera hybrid. Should you buy one? If you have worked out what you need to carry (may be too big or a pet/child/plastic box trailer may suit needs better/this trailer may work as a base to amend for your own requirements as the metal base is easy to modify or add to) and you are happy to sort the flaws out-and have a large space to store it (will get filthy from bike rear wheel and no trailer mudguards)-unless you undo 2x 10mm bolts to remove wheels (if you don’t tighten nyloc spring retainers you will lose nuts in use) and 2x 10mm bolts on frame it won’t fold anywhere near flat-even then it is HUGE-similar to Erde small car trailer-and your life or tour doesn’t depend on it, yes. With more money and for user friendly design eg hook mounts/reflectives, longevity, rustproofing, bombproof reliability and out-of-the-box usability buy a Burley or Carry Freedom or similar. I’d also suggest borrowing a trailer first to make sure you’re happy towing as it is a different experience; you need to ride further away from kerb and take longer turns but motorists generally give you more respect/space and other cyclists more Kudos! Hopefully the cheap materials will last a while; for now I am enjoying using it as it is barely noticeable under way and reduces my car need even further-a 200 family shop fits in with ease. I’m loving the versatility that bike towing brings and this has inspired me to buy a (!) Freedom Carry Y and some compatible boxes when I have the funds as it will be easier to flatten/store and be more versatile and durable long term. Final thought: it’ll pay for itself quickly through car-use savings and make your neighbourhood better for everyone except impatient car drivers
Be aware how wide it is As it was wider than expected. Easy to assemble runs really smoothly behind the bike. Very noisy if you put anything in it I ended butting some foam on the base which did an excellent job. Also be aware of how much your putting in as it is fairly big & can easily hold more than the rated 40kg. I use it to bring stuff to work & home & it’s great once you get used to i
All accept the assembling. To fit the trailer to the bike I needed to find someone with a drill piece that would fit. The local bike shop didn’t have a drill piece that fit so went to a car repair garage that drilled the hole in the fitting mechanism. Other than that the trailer fits easily to the bike and all good.
Easy to assemble bu using common sense rather than the instructions which were not the best . It that’s the only tiny negative still worthy of 5 stars
Product was very easy to assemble less than half hour from boxed. Very solid construction for money great value.
Bought this for a couple of reasons,
To take to the beach and carry everything we need for the day including the canoe and equipment, so just used as a trolley pulled by hand, this works perfect.
Canoe strapped on top and pull with the canoe handle.
Also to attach to the bikes and take the dog with us as after a couple of miles she will be too hot and tired, now we have the option to get out on the bikes and go places… Yet to be done but it will be fine.
I will update you on this adventure.
Used to transport camping items for a weekend away. Plenty of room and pretty sturdy. A bit fiddly to attach everything to the bike but once set up, really easy to take on and off. Overall a good purchase
Most things great just the cover needs work doesn’t stick and comes off in the wind
I like the trailer but it’s massive and that’s my own fault for not checking the measurements it’s very strong how ever and it’s very stable as it’s got two wheels and would be great for carrying plenty of cargo mainly shopping see another reason you don’t need a car.
Bigger than expected and doesn’t fit through a standard single doorway.
Large capacity though and easily takes the weekly shop, which it was bought for.
When fully loaded, the joint where the trailer arm attaches to the bike, which is a spring, bounces back and forth. Not a problem, just feels a bit odd. The wheels come off and the frame folds down easily for storage.
Easy to assemble with tools supplied, including circlip pliars. The circlips themselves, which hold the wheels to the axles, seemed a size too small, but went on with a bit of effort.
Overall very pleased, the car stays at home on shopping days.
Good value for price, but not the best build quality. It clames 65kg capacity but I doubt it. I would not try more than 40kg.
I bought this to take my two dogs further afield for their walks. They are between 22 and 25 kg each, so large dogs, and both fit in well. Assembly was easy enough, the instructions are pretty hard to see but the only thing is working out the order of the 3 washers that go on each wheel and after a bit of consideration it looks like I have it right.
I put a bit of old foam mattress in the bottom to make it more comfortable and also less slippy as the bottom is shiny metal. I also put some hard cardboard on the inside sides to stop the dogs from pushing the material sides onto the wheels. I think it would quickly wear away the canvas and also makes it much harder to cycle if anything is obstructing the wheel.
It took a bit of training to keep them in but with just 10-15 minutes a day they were staying in within 5 days.
First day they hopped in, it wobbled and they hopped straight out. So when they hopped in I gave them a treat. I didn’t move the bike, just kept it still. If they stayed in then more treats as they sat there.
2nd day they hopped in and when they stayed for more than a minute I gave them a treat (kept on telling them to stay). I also walked the bike a bit and they hopped out when it moved the first few times. Treated again if they stayed.
3rd day did more slow walking with the bike, they were nervous of the bumps but mostly stayed. Sped up a bit towards the end and they mostly stayed in.
4th day I started going faster and started slowly cycling up and down my pavement. One of them jumped out once but otherwise they stayed in.
5th day I slowly cycled to the park (about 4-5 minutes away), stopping to give them treats often. No one jumped out. On the way back went faster and they were a little nervous but stayed in.
6th day- Cycled further and faster and they both stayed in. I only treated them at the start and end so would say they are pretty much fully trained. Not sure yet what will happen if we have a close encounter with a cat or fox but I keep on telling them to ‘Stay’ if I see another dog or something I think may cause them to jump out.
The cart feels sturdy and is fairly easy to pedal even with a full load. I think this is going to be a fun and useful purchase. My young kids love it too and I have to keep taking them for a ride also.
It arrived and after a small bit of assembly which just entailed unfolding it we had it up at first i thought it was too huge to be easily maneuverable but i put it on the back of my bike and the trailer was so easily maneuverable that I almost forgot it was on my bike I cannot speak for how it will feel with cargo on it but I can say that it is well worth the money durable and sleek looking
We had a bit of trouble with the trailer at first, it was hard to assemble the wheels and it was faulty in the end. But the customer service was the best I’ve seen in a long time and we had a replacement come quite promptly. It’s a good trailer (I’ve had one before) and very handy. Be careful tho that the wheel is not catching the canvas on the sides of the trailer as you cycle around as the canvas can rip. Disclaimer: the dog dos jump out!
Well built sturdy frame, easy to assemble and fold away, no rear light mountain point but easily adapted to fit lights
Still in the garage…….. coming soon to a market place near you
Very easy to assemble and connect.to cycle. Performs very well under load.
Could have ref reflectors fitted to rear and brackets fitted for lights.
love this little trailer works well behind mobility scooter but then I changed the hitch to a ball type added a flag with a flashing light on it it looks good
Used it for a trip to Scotland, was really useful, large enough for the trip. Only thing small thing I didn’t like was the spring connection had tendency to spring back and forth when peddling. Still glad I bought it.
Love this trailer. In use every day and an amazing price. I added red rear reflectors which did not come with it. Highly recommend.
Excellent piece of kit. Enables me to take everything with me. Takes a bit of getting use to but you lose some of the 2 wheel advantage as you have to sit with the traffic rather than squeeze past. But brilliant all the same.
You could go and spend a lot more on a trailer if you want but this is no cheap price of rubbish. Came with ALL the tools needed to use out of the box (Just needs air in tubes) and was very easy to assemble. Thank you
