This is the second camera I have bought and very pleased with product. I had a problem
a couple of weeks ago where one of my cameras didn’t seem to be charging, I got onto to I geek support and they managed to rectify the problem, extremely quick and efficient customer service would highly recommend this produc
After my previous Ie Geek solar powered camera, I came straight back to the same company for my house security needs. So far I’m very happy with the quality of the battery camera, it’s clear in comparison to my old camera that this new model has received an upgrade to its design and software, it feels much more response, better connectivity to my WiFi, easier retrieval on the app, and has a more intuitive motion sensor. Worth every penny as it stands.
The cameras I bought are great,
Easy to install and set up on the app, the motion lights work well and the batteries are long lasting.
Will add more eventually.
Setting my cameras up was very straight forward and the picture quality is superb – Highly recommended.
Delivery was very quick and very well packaged.
Seller has been in touch to offer any future support if required.
Overall – Very, very happy.
Generally this is a good product, although the app required to interface with it could do with some work to make it more user friendly. Example, you can delete all the recordings from the SD card, but if you the go to History they are still stored somewhere (not on the Cloud, as I don’t use that).
The camera sensitivity is proving to be a minor problem as it seems to be triggered by insects flying in front of it – this also affects the battery life.
fully charged went away on holiday, use sd not hd a couple of visits from post man and one from bin men.
battery on 20% after 7 days.
exellent after care service, recieved a new unit .
New camera works as intended battery life still at 90% after 6 weeks very pleased.
Thank you
Dave.
Brilliant cameras. Picture is very clear and you have a light so colour at night when someone rocks up. Have a microphone and Speaker so you can listed and of shout at someone from the safety of your phone.
I got them to put on the campervan for when we camp in a town if it cropped up. They were so good I set them up at home too and shall be getting a couple more. The notification settings are great and can be tailored to just the level you want or need. They set themselves up to your WiFi automatically with no hitches and last week’s on one charge. Have used them on the house in the house , on the outside of the camper and inside as a movemt sensor when we’re away from the van. Recommend
It looks good quality. It was easy to set up. The camera image is good quality. Lots of useful features on the apps.(Siren, talk thru the device, light). Some cameras ask for a subscription to be able to download images and movies. This one doesn’t need any subscription and can record to the memory card (not incl) .
Not a bad bit of kit for the price paid. I gave it 4 stars because the battery doesn’t last very long before it needs charging, about once a week. I don’t know how long it’ll last before the battery will no longer charge, only time will tell.
This, for the price Is definitely worth it! Excellent picture, has alarm and a speaker so you can tell the burglar how much you hate them in real time. We are going to buy another couple of these and since him indoors is tighter than a ducks wotsit that speaks volumes for its value and how good it is. Really pleased. Couple of downsides – you can only have the app running on one occupant of the houses phone. Obviously him indoors is more important than me so he has it. Downside number 2. I work from home and can’t get away with sneaking my amazon deliveries anymore- he takes a screenshot of the delivery’s and sends the pictures to me asking “what have you bought now” so partners make sure, if like me you are an Amazon addict – YOU get the app – other than that, not a bad buy!
I would just like to say, these are great value cameras for the price. Good quality, good motion detection. A fraction of the price of competitors.
easy to install, paired it with my other ieGeek using the Clouddege app, camera, can be use with Alexa, battery last about 2 to three month depending on the use.
Well worth the money. Cameras charged quickly. Easy setup. Will buy another pack of two this month
Amazing CCTV camera. Easy to install and good quality night vision+led light. Motion Detection is really accurate too.
Good camera we have 3 used as security cameras on our house, the app is easy to use and the picture quality is clear. You do have to play around with the motion detection sensitivity sensitivity bit to get it right but cannot complain. We were able to recieve alerts and check recorded footage whilst abroad which was great. Great customer service.
Had this looking over our driveway and front door for almost 2 1/2 years now. Been great. Kept tabs on home and used the intercom from all over the world in that time. WiFi or mobile data roaming.
Sadly, the cold this winter has killed the internal battery and it won’t hold charge for than a week or 2, it was originally lasting for 3 months or so.
Might just buy a new one for 40. Not bad for 2 years service.
Great product I purchased the doorbell and decided to give the cams a go aswell , it all links up on the same app and works great…iegeek products are defo worth the money
I use these to cover two areas around my static caravan for security and are very good in notifying me if there are any issues that are near my caravan. Would recommend them as they great security cameras and it is a bonus that they are battery operated.
Found the set up very easy and done within in minutes using the cloud edge app.
Quality of the pictures in day and night are very good,
Well impressed with the overall package and at a very good price.
After less than a year, the camera no longer works. I’ve been using this as a security camera in the garden and it no longer charges. Also signs of moisture in the camera lens.
Edit: Following this review I have been sent a brand new camera free of charge and I didn’t have to return my old broken one. Very pleased with the response and customer service.
I wanted a quick camera over my driveway to see when people arrive as I don’t have windows that look onto the drive. I quickly installed the app and then with three screws (supplied) attached to my fence. Not even a 10 minute job. The app alerts me to movement and the picture quality is really good. I would definitely recommend and if I need another I’ll be buying again.
Set this up the other day, I was impressed with how easy it was to connect and set up to the home WiFi. The look, ease to install, hassle free all round with superb app functions, fantastic quality images day & night for this price and what appears to be a solid aftersales support network with confidence in their product and extended warranty for free, this is a must buy. Can’t fault it.Excellent all round, feels far more high end for the price!
As stated in headline follow instructions on packaging. Not now possible to see who is at door as we have two loud dogs who sometimes bark when nobody at door. When I changed broad band a call to customer care produced a swift responce text which talked me through how to reset avery good sevice. I also purchased a sola panel which eleiviates having to nemove to recharge once again easy to set up.
Easy to install and the pictures quality is great.
Would definitely recommend
It was super easy to set up and install. The picture is good and clear, it’s wide angle covers the area that we need it to. The night vision has a very good, clear picture which can be in black and white or colour. The motion detection is good, sometimes a bit too sensitive but you can adjust that easily, the app Cloud Edge is easy to navigate. Lovedoes the light and warning siren features When the motion detection is activated it records a short clip. Will definitely be purchasing another one for the back of the house.
Extremely pleased with this camera. The video quality is very good, easy to install and use. Planning to get another IeGeek camera for the back garden. Definately recommend.
Great camera. Our last camera (different brand) lasted just over 2 years and needed a refresh. Came across the ieGeek 2K Wireless Security Camera Outdoor Battery Powered on Amazon and loved the fact it had an external siren as well as a light strobe
on receipt of camera, it was hooked up to the home wifi within minutes and 25 mins after that, it was working, providing added security onto the drive watching over any unwanted intruders or anyone looking at our cars. Would highly recommend, for the monies, you will not be disappointed
Very clear images. Wide angle lens picks up big field of view. Very easy to set up straight from the box. Battery life is good and makes this very convenient to site anywhere within Wi-Fi range.
This is the 5 th I Geek security camera I have bought and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. The camera set up is simple and I can watch my home on my mobile phone when out and about. The clarity of the picture is excellent for this type of device and the sound quality too, although I did originally have this set too low. i can take screen shots of anything I want to save. I can record too. i also receive alert messages whenever the camera is triggered. It has already captured good images of intruders in our garden, so I’m really pleased with my purchase.
This product is easy to install and pair with the app. The picture quality is superb. I highly recommend this product.
Great camera for indoor or outdoor use picture quality is fantastic to any simular product of double the price and its good instructions on how to set it up for android phone e.t.c.
I found the device easy to assemble and install. The guidelines were clear to follow and usage of the app is also easy.
It’s withstanding the extreme weather excellently – hasn’t affected the quality whatsoever.
Recently I took it off to charge inside and it didn’t take long to fully charge the battery. Recommended.
I loved the camera, easy to use and install. It becomes cheaper if you think you don’t need an electrician pushing cabes, fixing and filling holes, etc. Battery seems to last at least 2 months of usage.
The camera offers very clear visual and very easy to connect with wifi. Found it to be value for money compared to other cameras, available in the market, would highly recommend and at the moment it is also reduced to 49.99 from 79.99.
All very easy to install and set up . It looks sleek and unobtrusive and if I had a bigger property i would certainly invest in more of the same.
Great picture quality ,easy to install well worth it the money.
Definitely Would recommend .
Easy to set up. Works well. Black Friday deal as well. What’s not to like?
Fantastically pleased with this item, I have several wireless cameras already but this is by the best of them all. As and when required I will be upgrading my others to this item.
Worked ok ish for couple of years then disconnected and despite me trying for two days to reconnect it wouldn’t. Thrown it in the bi
I’ve tried many outdoor cameras, this has to be the best one I’ve found. The Wi-Fi coverage covers 90% of our large garden and with it being battery powered we don’t have to worry about an electric source.
We are pleased with this camera, i would recommend to friends and family Pauline
Purchased the item which honestly was great… Worked perfectly for just over 2 years in snow, heavy rain without issues.
The item stopped working just 4 weeks out of warranty. I got in touch with the support team, who honestly were great. There have refunded 40% of the cost which I have used toward a newer camera.
Thanks guys….
Hi all, l find this camera amazing, to think you can record and watch anywhere in the world where there is an internet capability, it was easy to set up and install, video quality in both modes was marvelous, and the added bonus of a siren and speech was wondeful, the idea of solar and supply to operate the battery was worth it on its on, very pleased with this for its price
Easy to install. Great picture, can be used as a light when entering your home. Fabulous bit of kit. I highly recommend, you will need an 128gb mini cd card.
I bought because my motorcycle got stolen and I’m really surprised with the quality, I got also with the Solar panel and since them o never charged the camera. Really happy with the product and with app that mad my life easier as I can access from anywhere.
The camera is easy to set up and install and the picture is good and clear with good, wide coverage. The night vision also proved a good, clear picture which can be in dark or colour (when light is activated). The motion detection is good and can be adjusted so it doesn’t pick up passing cars (just slower moving things like people and sometimes foxes!). When the motion detection is activated it records a short video and sends an alert to your phone. You can also use your phone to turn on the light or make a recording.
I’ve now bought two and would recommend buying the solar panel version as much more convenient than having to remove and charge (about once a week without the solar depending on use).
Would definitely recommend.
I bought two products and installed them yesterday.
So far, I’m very satisfied and I think it’s worth enough.
To begin with, It’s very easy to install
The camera angle can be freely adjusted, and connecting the product to Wi-Fi is also very simple.
Plus, The camera functions are very diverse, and the app is very convenient to use.
It is equipped with very useful features such as motion detection, alarms, white light, and sirens, and works well without problems.
I am very happy that the security situation in my house seems to be much better through this product.
I believe that other consumers would also be a good choice to buy it.
Bought this cam in 2020 and it has been working perfectly until a few days ago when it suddenly stoppedAfter trying to get it going I emailed the ieGeek service people and they were back to me within 24hrs with a few ideas to get it up and running..I followed their instructions regarding the removal of the SD card etc and found that the fault was with this card and not the camera..I changed the card and the camera burst into life againAbsolutely brilliantThe ieGeek service team were fantastic..I throughly recommend this camera Thanks ieGeek team
I got these for my mother and after seeing them in action I have only good things to say about them. They are easy to put up and set up, they only need charged once a month or less and the picture quality is great. I’d highly recommend these.
The camera and solar charger are really hood the quality is good and you cannot moan for the price at all, there’s one thing that qas more annoying than it really needed to be, we recently had to have virgin media out because our Internet was just shocking and we didn’t know why, we ended up having to have a new router which meant reconnecting everything to the new Internet name and password. Unfortunately there’s no way to change the Internet on the camera without going all the way up to near the roof to completely reset it. I thought you would’ve been able to via the app like most cameras but nope my husband had to take it all down, reset it just to connect it to a different WiFi. There’s nowhere in the app to do it, keep that in mind if you ever change broadband providers. Other than that it’s a really good camera and does what we needed it to. We made sure to install the micro SD card prior to installation which will then save the recordings.
All in all can’t grumble
Got this for my daughter has she has a lady that rugularly goes through her outside letterbox she has now noticed it and hopefully will stop also someone tried to break in her car then noticed the light then left so great purchase
I’m very impressed with this camera and the App that supports it. Trying it out before fixing it outside, everything seems to work perfectly. Good night vision and motion detection, and it picks up the wi-fi signal well. Only thing I cannot really comment on is the battery life as I have only had it a few days. The App was simplicity to install and use.
This camera is almost identical to similar G-Homa, which is now more expensive, but used to be cheaper. the use the same firmware, or at lease the firmware version numbers are same.
Image quality is good, sam for color night vision, which is already a reason to buy such cameras instead of the IR night vision.
The same issue like other cameras of the same type: the PIR sensor is not active all the time, and so you almost never see the beginning of the event and you may miss completely some quick events
A quirk: sometimes when starting a recording the image is overexposed or underexposed and it takes a second or two before the automatic exposure control brings it to normal.
Ideal for checking security of home when away. It doesn’t always pick up every movement. Two way talk stopped working after first week. Haven’t figured out to fix this problem.
I am amazed at how good and easy to use this camera is! Got set up and running within 10 minutes. Also, it’s extremely receptive on wifi (my router isn’t that close to it but iut picks it up just fine!)
The picture quality is great, it responds and takes photos super quick and the light alone is so bright it would scare anyone away! HIGHLY recommend.
We bought this camera due to the great reviews we had read. It is easy to set up and install. The picture is good and clear, it covers the area that we need it to. The night vision also proved a good, clear picture which can be in dark or colour. The motion detection is good, sometimes a bit too sensitive if there’s stirring winds. It does trigger the light though which is a good aspect. When the motion detection is activated it records a short clip.
The only thing I would want to be better is the battery life but we are planning on buying the solar panel which would sort this out.
I would recommend this camera and we are going to buy another for the front of our property.
The first issue I have is that it doesn’t record long enough when motion is detected. There is also a delay and take a while to load after notifying you.
Picture is clear enough to see what it is that has set it off but won’t pick up a face or car registration.
Good points- it’s well made; looks and feels great.
Easy to set up and battery lasts a long time.
You get what you pay for and at 49.00 it’s bang on the money.
Saw the good reviews on this camera and decided it would provide the ideal front door security CCTV. Simple to set up with all the features of a camera that would cost 3 times as much. Really pleased with it and will probably get another one. Was able to view a parcel being delivered while on holiday on a cruise ship and got my neighbour to collect it!. A couple of minor things, the motion sensor probably is a tiny bit slow and the battery life could be longer, however, this doesn’t detract from the overall quality of the camera.
On holiday when I checked my camera for my property and not working. No issue with battery. This was on 26th September 2022
Returned home and checked camera. Not working and will not charge back up.
Have tried reset, holding power button, basically everything in the book.
Reported to Amazon who said product warranty finished on 29th September 2022. Which is 1 year by Igeek the other year by amazon.
I could only report it until I returned from holiday on the 6th October which according to Amazon was a week out of the 2 year warranty. 1 week, when the fault occurred in warranty but I couldn’t take action until I got home when out of warranty.
I contacted Amazon who said it was a week out of warranty but customer service advisor contacted Igeek who would be happy to send out a replacement. When I followed this up they basically said I had been lied to by the previous Amazon customer service advisor. Absolutely shocking.
Igeek have told me their 1 year warranty has expired and it should be Amazon who should be honouring the second year warranty.
These are basically throw away items with no parts available to service, as battery packs sealed which connect to small PCB. Be prepared to deal with poor Chinese customer service and to be lied to by Amazon poorly trained staff.
Update: Out of the blue contacted by Iegeek. Given the shocking customer service by Amazon the camera manufacturer has stepped in and offered me a full refund, hence my change in rating. This is for Iegeek and not Amazon. At least someone is listening and reading these reviews
Good sturdy product. Easy to set up and performs well
Firstly this camera is brilliant. Really easy to set up and install. The picture quality is crystal clear both in the day and at night and the intercom functionality again is perfect. You can add an Sd card but we haven’t for ours. It’s also very discreet and blends nicely into the surroundings.
Ours is positioned around 4 metres from the main router and the Wi-Fi is still a strong signal. But one thing that is brilliant is the customer service. We had a question regarding the product and we had an instant response and nothing was too much trouble. I’d highly recommend this camera for anyone looking for a discreet security option that performs well, and the brilliant after purchase customer service.
Update, I got a partial refund to purchase a new mount, this has solved the mounting issue so I am keeping it as it’s very easy to move around, much more simpler than wildlife camera.
Looks like my camera will have to go back as even though I have it working, I have no way to mount the camera as the mount is faulty, there is no way to position the camera apart from laying it on the floor or keeping it dangling.
Pros, camera is nice and small
no wires
Easier to move around if required to watch wildlife
Cons, mount is plastic and doesn’t work, mine is most def faulty
Doesn’t use the same client as my other igeek cameras
Cannot be viewed via compute
day time it’s great, but not happy night time as when gets wet we get a foggy picture till I wipe it in the morning or the sun dries it
it’s at night I need it more so going to have to build a box round it I think
I purchased this to specifically monitor the area around my driveway where my car is parked, as I already have a couple of existing cameras for general coverage. I needed a camera that had GOOD motion detection with minimal false alarms. It took a couple of days to tweak this one, however this camera has a comprehensive settings menu which allows you to modify the alert area, alert sensitivity, flick between the over cautious normal “movement” alerts to intelligent “human” movement alerts, both of which have a sliding scale to boot. The alerts and alarm menus on the app have a large range of modifications let you adjust the sensitivity of the camera to your requirements. Even has a time window in case you don’t want any alarms whilst you are having a nap or something!). The image quality is top notch, and night vision resolution is very good (the alert has an option of activating the built in spotlight, which switches the video to full colour at night). If the camera has alarm alerts and motion tracking on 24/7 this will understandably drain the battery relatively quick. However, I have alarms and alerts turned off during the daytime and only activate it at night. Which preserves battery life massively. I am getting a good few weeks out of it now. Also – due to an issue with fitting the original bracket I needed to get in touch with customer services – and I can confirm, the customer service is responsive and helpful.
I am pleased with camera. It is my second. So far the battery has a good life but early days. Good installation instructions. We don’t have good internet here (and it is wireless) which may account for the slight delay picking up motion. (It is an improvement on the last camera I tried which didn’t catch people until they were leaving the front door) Picture quality is good when taken close up but lacks definition when taken from further away and is pixelated when enlarging the image, especially in low light. Again, that might be poor signal strength.
On the whole it works well enough for me to have purchased two.
Bought this to keep an eye on my dog when I am at work. Great item. You can speak through it and hear any noise in the area.
Good clear picture during the day but not great night vision. Easy enough to connect to phone after Googling.
Ok product for price but don’t rely on it during the nigh
The camera is adequate for the job, night vision is good, motion detection is good the only problem is the battery life, its currently running at 1 week to 2 weeks, its currently needs to be recharged for the second time this month.
It takes a minimum 5 hours to charge, so it’s off line during this period… Better battery and its a winne
This is the first CCTV cam I bought. Easy to install and set up, done in less than an hour.
Works very well, so well that I bought a 2nd for a relative’s home.
Good picture quality, day and night and just received a notification that I’m down to 15% battery charge, it’s been about 2.5 months since installation so happy with the battery.
A good camera, recommended to friends and family.
My camera came on time and was boxed with everything i needed inside. Downloaded the app and tried to connect to my wifi. I tried and tried without any luck. I am only writing this review as i returned the camera because i could not connect with my 5g wifi and i had my money returned within 4 days. After i received my refund, i found a way to temporarily change your wifi setting from 5g to 2.4g or whatever it says. You can find the settings or speak with your wifi provider and they will show you how. Once you connect the camera you can either leave the wifi at 2.4g or change it back to 5g. I will buy the camera again but this time be able to connect and that is why i could not comment on the picture quality etc, because i never got the chance to connect the camera.
After some local vandalism, I decided I needed to get a security camera for the house. I was very pleased with the quality of the image, the clear sound, and the ability to talk from the camera with an intercom. The app is very good, and very easy to use. Its very reassuring to be able to see what is going on when away from, or to look back at the recordings from the day to see what has happened. Knowing someone with the model before this, an extra with this model is that there is a siren option, to frighten away someone who may be up to something. A very good camera and overall experience, I highly recommend it.
Hi. Only had the camera for a few days. Charged up for a two hours before installation. Required the download of the ieGeek App onto my mobile phone. (did not bother with the “cloud app” installation). The download and registering an account with the iegeek app was simple. Adding the camera to my phone was easy, just follow the instructions. After temporally siting the camera for testing, the recorded videos were surprisingly crisp and clear, for a camera in this price range. The voice sound was good and the alarm quite loud. Struggled a little bit working my way around the App’s features, but put that down to me.
Overall initially please with this camera. Time will tell about the battery performance, but will update.
We bought this camera with solar panel
It seems good so far. Motion detector seem good but a little over zealous, I need to adjust it really
Its waterproof & not affected but the the amount of rain we’ve had lately in the U.K.
the solar panel is holding up well. It’s got a battery back up if the panel does fail
All in all we are happy at the moment with it. Did have some trouble with WiFi connection even though I connected following instructions & was right beside the router. But it did eventually connect
Fingers crossed
I’ve had some problems accessing the Camera History, I posted a complaint on here and was quickly contacted by Tiya, from the ieGeek customer service team.
Her service has been great. Their team updated the firmware of the camera but the issue may be a problem with the SD card. We are sill working on finding a solution, but for a budget camera it’s been alright and a good level of service to help resolve issues. There are probably more high spec cameras out there. But when it works it offers good peace of mind being able to monitor what’s going on while you’re away.
I have purchased 2 of these units – One with the solar panel and one on its own to deal with issues of theft inside my house. While I had an issue with connecting to the internet I was told that my camera signal was too weak and so it could cut off – you can check this in the app.
Unfortunately for me one of the Cameras broke and stopped working after some time and I was very upset ! I could not turn the camera on and so complain about the service here warning others not to use it. I was promptly contacted by the makers and told sorry for the issues I had experienced and offered a full refund for the unit that stopped working. Rather than the refund, it was their willingness to listen to my complaints as an actual human being not just as a customer- they empathised with the seriousness of it breaking and also took my advice in regards to how they could make the product better and for that reason, I am updating my review.
In all fairness to them, the other camera is working so the one I had must have been defective but that is now being refunded even after the return period.
So I’ve had many cameras in the past, including some of the highest rating companies. This exceeds them in every way. This is my second Igeek camera and to say I am impressed is an understatement. The camera quality is exceptional, the batterys are always phenomenal and they’re so easy to set up and use. My last camera was last charged before Christmas, and it’s now mid April and after an extremely cold winter it is still on 30% without a single charge in between. It really gives you that peace of mind, if you hear a noise in the night you don’t have to be awake for hours, you can just open the app and check the cameras. The second motion is detected this camera sends over a push notification, so you will know instantly. You can also change this to notify you at certain times only. It has two way audio, so you can hear and also talk to whoever is at the other end. PLEASE, save your money and get one of these. Don’t even bother with the other brands, this gives you everything and more and at a much much much cheaper price. Life changing for me because now I have worry free security.
EDIT: At least the support is good
PROS:
Camera quality is good, very clear.
Wide angle lens is really wide.
Other than that everything else kinda sucks.
CONS:
Motion detection seems to only starts recording when it see’s a human. Doesn’t record cars coming close to the house.
Motion detection starts recording probably about 5 seconds after detection.
This means that if a car we’re to drive up to your house, and people get out of the car and walk towards your door, you have a good chance of actually missing them in the recording.
The app sucks. Sometimes takes minutes to load an alert detection, sometimes drops connection out of nowhere. Also there is no option to link the camera to any software on the PC, which is dissapointing.
I’ve had it on for 5 full days so far and the battery is at 37%, meaning that the battery will last me approx 7 and a half days. Which also sucks.
I am a great fan of IeGeek stuff so decided to yet again buy a smaller camera to face the front of my house. I opted for this version as it was indoor or outdoor and rechargeable (which on my other IeGeek camera I recharge every 3 months)
It was installed along with my other cameras on the cloud edge App which is very comprehensive in design and ability to access your live feeds. The quality in SD or HD is excellent and what I am impressed with is my camera is set in a tree! about 20 metres from my wifi router and the signal is brilliant.
For the price it’s a no brainer, you can set the camera to send you alerts 24hrs a day or custom your times on the app. It tells you your battery charge and there is an option to buy it with a solar panel which I have on my other camera from ieGeek and that is an added feature that is well worth considering.
Finally night mode, clear visibility and picks up moving objects very well. The level of detection can be adjusted according to how sensitive you want it to be.
So to summarise it’s a great bit of kit that won’t disappoi
Security Anywhere
At first opening it is obvious that the ieGeek Wireless Security Camera is a high quality product.
Right out of the box you can feel the solid construction and tell that this is a very well made camera and equally high quality solar panel.
The whole camera is very sleek and compact enabling it to be very discreetly mounted to ensure maximum peace of mind that any necessary images will be captured easily.
The real plus for this camera is that, once installed, it does not require any connection to mains electricity or wired network and therefore is completely independent and able to be installed anywhere within wireless reach of a router.
This makes it perfect for outbuildings and storage areas that otherwise would be difficult to monitor and also ideal for installing in rented property or other buildings where construction work to run cables may not be permitted.
The camera is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation and as the supplied solar panel comes with a fitted 3m power lead, it can easily reach from outdoors to inside if required.
The camera is very quick and easy to configure and connect to the network, the whole process taking less than 15 minutes including a download of the app and an update of the camera’s internal software all which happened automatically.
The image quality is superb, capturing very detailed images in both daylight and darkness.
The app can be loaded onto an IOS or Android device. I do not have experience of Android but the IOS version is excellent and I can see no reason to believe both versions would not provide the same versatile control.
The camera and solar panel both come with mounting hardware that allows for full adjustment of both the camera placement to provide the best coverage and the solar panel to capture the best amount of light.
The camera has an in-built battery to cater for periods when the solar panel is not active and the life of this battery is excellent leaving no fear that the camera would fail overnight.
All in this is a very impressive camera and represents excellent value for money.
I ordered one to keep an eye on the front garden and car, (trouble from local yoofs), It was very easy to set up, once you download the app, Picture quality was vey clear, and the app was quite intuitive. I was so impressed I ordered another one for the back garden.
One thing of note, it is advisable to use the power saving settings, I didn’t and the battery warning came up after a week.
The only problem I can see., is the security of the camera it’s self, because it needs to be removed to enable it to be charged, I suppose anyone could remove it.
NB the second camera has developed a buzzing noise when watching live feed, also the motion detector is getting triggered to easily ( cats, rain and swaying branches) I’ll turn down the sensitivity, but I didn;t think the camera triggered, unless it saw something human shaped.
I bought two of these cameras and am really pleased with them. I have been looking for cameras that are battery powered (as I need to move them about) and had on-camera storage (as I’m too mean to pay for cloud storage). This camera has up to 128GB storage using an SD-Card (not supplied) AND has a cloud storage option as well.
I have to admit I am probably not a typical user of the camera as I don’t use it for Security purposes but for wildlife videos. We have a number of Hedgehog Houses around the garden and we keep an eye on these with these cameras. There are two mounts provided in the box which look rugged enough but I use them on photographic tripods instead (hence the need for the batteries).
I’ve attached a video showing the use of the cameras at night and you can see the picture quality is really good. You download the videos remotely from the Cloudedge App as long as the cameras are in range of your wifi. This seems to work well enough as one of the locations requires the wifi signal to pass through one internal wall, one internal floor, one external wall and two sides of a stone built garage and is still picked up by the camera.
The lenses are fairly wide angle and probably better for security than wildlife photography but it suits my purposes. Recharging is through a USB connection in the back of the camera which is covered by a waterproof cover.
Cloudedge (available on Android and IOS) is the only software that the camera will work with and I have found it to be a little idiosyncratic in the past but have now mastered controlling the cameras and downloading the videos. Customer service were very quick and responsive to my slightly odd questions.
Again I am not a typical user as I download lots of videos everyday while people using the camera for security purposes might download them only when they have suffered an ‘incident’.
So I recommend this camera if you’re after a battery camera and don’t want to pay a monthly subscription to be able to access your videos.
I bought this camera for my elderly neighbour to security of the front of their premises. They are in an end of terrace house and I have put the camera under their first floor bedroom window. The camera is very easy to setup and physically install on the wall (follow the instruction manual) and that was very quick and easy to do. However, there are a lot of settings in the app to play around with and configure the camera the way you like. The picture quality for live view for both day and night is good. I have not tried the micro SD card option for storage (using only the 7 day free cloud storage now) so I would not be able to comment on how many days of storage I get with a card. I have set the PIR sensitivity to high and it is able to capture all human motion in the footpath in front of the house and porch. It was a pretty wide view and the 2 MP picture quality is satisfactory. Recommended.
Picture quality is really good, software is very user friendly and quick and easy to set the camera up. Live View is great, you can record your own clips and take your own snapshots. It’s very easy yo share access to the device with other people. Night vision is pretty good quality from what I can see. The only things I don’t like so far is the motion detection and the fact that you can’t view motion detected footage without an sd card. In the photo, I walked past 3 times and it only took that picture when I walked right up to the camera but even then, what’s the point of having an image of someone 15 seconds before they walk in front of the camera? I’ll see what it’s like when I get an sd card but the jury is still out on the effectiveness of this camera.
Edit: motion detection is vastly improved with an sd card as it is now recording motion detected footage. It’s still a bit slow to trigger which means that someone will be almost out of shot by the time it starts too record but its only a few seconds too slow. Its also not recoding any night time footage and I know its “triggering” because I walked in front of it last night and it “woke up” it just didn’t record anything.
All in all a decent camera with some aspects that could be improved but still worth the money
This is the first product I have bothered to give a positive review. I bought it as my girlfriend thought she saw someone looking through our ground floor bedroom window the other night. I have placed it hidden on my garden floor, facing back at my house. Initially I wanted to have it indoors but the infrared sensors don’t work through windows, having researched this it doesn’t appear to be fault with this product but just that infrared reflects off glass. The camera itself does see through the glass but the motion detection doesn’t. The camera is perfectly good quality, it feels well made and every time I have walked past the camera it has picked me up and sent a notification to my phone (around 20-30 seconds later). I have only had it for one night and woke up to see notifications on my phone saying that it had picked up movement during the night. It turned out to be two foxes, one of which pee’d on the camera. It appears to be both rain and fox urine resistant in case this was a particular concern of yours. It was easy to set up, works a treat and would highly recommend it. Just so you are aware there is a subscription for the “cloud service” where the recordings are kept online. I believe it was around $40 for the year. Again having looked into this it appears that all similar products require a subscription for “cloud” storage. Footage can be stored on the camera itself but you will need to buy a separate SD card
This battery camera has been running for a couple of days now and I can share some initial feedback.
It’s quite compact, design is quite smooth and nevertheless it seems sturdy. I’ve chosen to install it using the tape and the magnetic hook, quick and easy, it seems to hold the camera well.
Camera setup was quite straightforward (it took a couple of attempts with the app) on 2.4 Ghz Wifi.
Video quality is quite good, although I was expecting something better when switching to HD.
Night vision was a pleasant surprise, image was bright and well defined.
Audio volume is loud (it can be adjusted) and clear enough.
Motion detection is very sensitive by default but that can be adjusted too. Overall good detection, maybe not immediate but it does the job.
I cannot really comment the battery life since as I said it’s been running just for couple of days and it’s still 100%.
I didn’t give five stars because of the app (CloudEdge) that seems not well refined and laggy – it often loses connection while retrieving motion detection footage – even though phone, camera and router are quite close each other. Another missing feature is the integration with any other smarthome assistant.
Overall, I found the hardware good and reliable, with nice image quality and good sensors. The only drawback is the managing software that was left a bit behind the otherwise solid product. Hopefully this can be fixed wih app updates and new features.
After getting let down by another brand twice, I thought.. Time to move on. I opted for this brand as the feature of two way audio appealed to me along with the price.
Connecting via Android phone.
No hitches just follow the basic instructions. Simply add your Wwifi password. Scan the QR code that appears on the android screen using the actual camera and you are done! Very smooth operation and very quick install with no mucking around. I like simple!
Build
Nice and solid.
Access ports are to the bottom at the back behind a silicone plug that fully removes from the camera body. This plug has a smaller plug that can be extracted if you decide on cable or solar power connections. The SD card slot could be improved. No indication of which way to put in a card. Logic told me face up. But no @sping@ push fit. I had to use a pin to get the thing out. But no big deal.
Software App.
Very easy navigation, went through all the settings and found it 99% spot on. I have no need for the pay cloud based access and was worried I would not get certain features but in general everything I needed including push notices.
After another play I found that pressing the SD wording on the screen bottom right pulled up a mini menu and bam! full HD! The picture quality even on live viewing was great. You can even digitally zoom in. In the printed booklet it is almost impossible to see the no. codes relating to the features that are printed over the photo images, so I nearly missed this little menu! But the book is done.
This camera basically gives you TV ratios. Wide screen basically. So therefore I have mounted the camera at 90 degrees as I have a long garden. I don’t wish to cover all the other gardens as the motion sensor picks up my neighbours 10 times a day! I have mounted the camera under the house soffit. This will hopefully avoid rain that may enter the speaker zone which is exposed in the 90 degree position. Some have said this is internally sealed.. We shall see…
Night vision is very good as long as you are not pointing at street lights which can fog the image. I have found the camera in areas with LED street lighting, my front way with a car park for instance, actually works great without the need for the night vision setting which can be switched off. Colour rendition is also good in the dark with this model, impressed.
Downloading your videos.
If you set the camera to activate on motion detection, the camera records these as “alarms” in a list, but when you access those individual videos you can’t save them. Simply go to the time line and it scrolls through each motion detection during the day in order and when it gets to the one you want press the screen and the small icons appear, one of which is the record button. Press that and the image is recorded to MPG direct to the camera, no need to take the SD card out of the camera! I am unsure if this creates a screen capture or whether it is the raw data. But the picture looked okay to me which I played back through VLC on the PC. Copy and cut the mpg file to your computer directly to play. It seemed unable to play direct from my plugged in Android device. (possible admin permissions) The cloud facility would only come in handy if someone robbed your house and ripped the cameras off the wall before you had a chance to download! So it is an interesting feature to buy into if you think your cameras could be knocked off or accessed by burglars.
Overall and so far I am impressed with the camera. So much so I bought another! This will be subject to change. Time will tell if this is up for the long haul. My purchase allowed me to an extended warranty and a free solar panel! Or you can get a 32GB mini SD card. How is that for service? Well Done!
Had the camera up and running for a few days now.
Good points….
Very good and clear daytime picture quality when set in HD
Motion detection doesn’t seem to go off for no reason (like high winds, or moving bratches) even on high sensitivity.
Good build quality, feels like a quality product
Battery life I would say is going be adequate after 4 days its dropped to about 90% and that’s with me playing around with it and viewing it a lot as it’s a novelty at the moment so I would expect the battery to last longer once I’ve had a little while and the kids stop waving at it every 5 minutes.
Sound and microphone very good and clear
Alerts to phone are quick with 5 seconds or so.
My wifi signal is only about 50% according to app at best, but rarely loses connection only happened twice.
130 degree wide angle is good, wouldn’t want it any less. Just about covers my 4 m wide front garden.
Easy to set up
Delivery very fast
Iegeek quick to reply to Emails, they give you a free micro Sd card if you Email them..
App is…ok easy to use, it’s not horrendous but it could be better, but it seems to have regular updates, already had 2 in the 5 days I’ve had the app
Bad points…..
Night vision quality good but faces of people are just white and can’t make out who it is.
Alert Video play back can (say 3 put of 10 times) Glitchy and jumps or freezes.
My front gate is 3 meters from front door, video alert will take 2 pictures which is actually very good and catch say the postman as he opens my front gate however video alert play back of the same time often only catch the postmans back as he’s walking away back towards gate, doesn’t catch him at the gate walking towards my front door.
Unable to block out motion detection zones on certain parts of video which is a bit annoying as it keeps catching the feet of my neighbours across the way as they walk out of the house (but can’t catch the postman)
Vertical angle could be a little better, I can either have it catching front door (but misses front gate so only gets body and not head of the person until they have entered front garden) or have it pointing at the front gate but blind spot is about 1 meter from front door so could stand close to front door and not been seen. (Personal reference is I have it set up pointing at front gate)
2 days after purchasing the product it was on amazon 12 cheaper.
Over all this is a good product, and I’m happy with it considering the price, I might move the location on the camera at some point which may sort out some of my minor issues.
## 8 month update ## ,
Firstly it’s all still working OK, and the app is (although fairly basic) still working correctly, a solar panel that I’ve added means the camera remains at 100% charge all the time.
Proir to adding a solar panel, the camera was holding charge for about 3 weeks, it seems to get to about 40 or 50% battery then drops off very quickly and before you know it it’s at 10% battery, once the novelty of it wears off and you stop viewing every notification it may last 4 weeks but I can’t see it lasting much longer.
motion detection is erratic, I purchased the camera as we had a object thrown at our house, same thing happened recently, It would have to have been within the camera range, but unfortunately it didn’t capture anyone throwing anything.
Recently the camera picked up me leaving the house and closing my front gate,
When I returned home later my front gate was wide open, after reviewing the cctv footage the camera did not pick up anyone opening it. (Even if I didn’t close the gate it naturally stays in the closed position) and its cast iron so doesn’t move in the wind.
Time delay between video and audio footage of about 5 seconds, So you’ll see someone talk but audio is delayed, makes talking to someone via the camera intercom difficult.
Footage will often do a fast forward or jump forward thing where the video will play as normal but it’s freeze Momentarily then resume 5/10 seconds later, or it’ll do an fast forward thing where the video footage will speed up for for 2 or 3 seconds then return to normal.
All that said every morning without fail it will pick up my neighbour leaving his house, but all it picks up is his feet for about 2 seconds due to the camera angle.
Motion detection used to be on the lower setting, but changed it to High serrinh several months ago.
I do now wonder if a ring door bell would have been a better option as the cost difference isn’t much and only a small fee for cloud storage.
Moving to a bigger house soon so needed a security camera to go in the back garden. Ideally I needed something wireless to save laying loads of cables which would be fiddly and less secure and came across this. After getting it out the box I had it set up within minutes, the QR codes in the manual make it very easy and the app guides you through the set up for the camera.
Once it was up and running I had it on charge overnight then put it up indoors to try it out. Originally I was sceptical about having to charge a camera rather than have it wired as I didn’t want to constantly have to charge it up however I am quite surprised with this one. Without even starting to configure the settings the motion detection works great and I get an alert on my phone when it goes off within seconds (I haven’t actually changed any settings yet as it suits me how it is!). This ensures the camera is on “stand by” and only uses power when needed which is perfect, I can see this will make the battery last a long time and if we was to sit in the garden I can turn the motion detection off to save the battery! Clear picture, night vision works great too and the app is really easy to use straight away. There are also intercom options along with the ability to take recordings, screenshots and even set up cloud storage.
Great bit of kit, will likely get another front the front of the house after the move!
