Reliable and Cher good camera quality and Cherokee. It’s an ideal camera for security.
The motion detection on the alarm is phenomenal
IMOU app has in the past had its issues. That said, more recent firmwares have been spot on.
Cameras fully functional via mobile, great range of rotation, can be mounted upside down and two way talk if required. Perfect for keeping an eye on the dog when we’re out.
Powered by a USB and has a slot for a memory card (I recommend you get one as it means you can look back through previous alerts and registered motion detections)
Would buy again. Just as good as higher priced, better known brands.
So pleasantly surprised by how good this is! Easy set up, great control and for 3 a month subscription it all goes to the cloud. Really useful great value for money even the quality of the image for the price is amazing. I’m tempted to get a couple more for other places but for now this one does exactly what we hoped for and does it well.
Set up in kitchen to keep an eye on new puppy, Can watch him from anywhere in house or even when away from house, set up was easy on both mine and wife’s phone, has proven itself already absolutely packed with features to cover everything recommended.
I tested a few makes and devices of security cameras and this model had the best features and image quality for a 1080p lense.
The closest comparison was a YI Done X which, although is 1080p the image quality was noticeably less both day and night. This Imou camera was also a lot quieter when panning around and can barely hear its movement/tracking.
I liked how it scans a panoramic image of the room which you can use to point the camera to by simply click that area on the image.
One downside for me was it felt a little plasticy and I didn’t care much for the illuminating effect lights but happy considering the price. I was unfortunate to receive one with faulty sound but was able to return it for a replacement.
This is a lovely little dome camera.
The picture quality is actually good!
It is powered by micro USB; a very long black cable (usb-a to micro usb) is included in the box.
SETUP
– To get the app on my iPhone 7 Plus, I pointed my camera at the QR code in the quickstart guide.
– The app installed quickly.
– To then setup the dome camera, i pointed my iPhone at a tiny QR code on the base of the dome. This accomplished almost all the setup.
– The app then asked me for my home wifi and password (pretty standard)
UGH
I did have to setup yet another account. So that’s one more password to remember
USE
* It’s all very intuitive. I never read manuals and could work it all out
PANNING
Note that it is noisy — you can hear the motor / mechanism. (So this is not good for stealth!)
To start with this is the best camera on the market for this price and unfortunately you can’t get any better.
The only thing the company needs to work on is the delay (it depends on the speed of your mobile you use as well I noticed ) and the noisy motor (only when recording and the camera moves around). They may think about some noise cancellation or something like that. Otherwise great camera for this price!!
There is a lot to like about this camera, from the picture quality to the software, it is an all-around great package. It comes delivered in a nicely designed retail box and along with the camera you get a very generous 3m power cable, UK power adapter, mounting plate, screws, positioning sticker, and a quick start guide.
To use the camera, you will need to download the Imou Life app for your phone, but it can also be used with your PC by downloading the software from the Imou website and you will need to create a new account to use them. The camera can be connected to your network using wired or wireless, I chose to use the wired method as it is faster and more stable for me. With help from the well-designed app I was up and running in minutes.
I have positioned my camera in the upstairs window overlooking the drive and I have to say I’m very impressed with the video quality of it, the picture is sharp with excellent colour. I thought I might have an issue with putting it behind a window, but I can see the image clearly throughout the day and night with no reflection or glare form the sun. Of a night-time it sees the driveway and road better than I can and the framerate is nice and smooth while live viewing.
One thing that I do not like about the camera and software is that when the internet connection goes off you can no longer view the camera even if your both on the same network inside your house. I have had previous cameras that continue to stream on your home network even when the internet is down, but this is not one of them. It requires an internet connection at all times and because of this there can be a noticeable delay in the live video of anything up to about 8 seconds. I could test this by getting someone to go in front of the camera and wave their arms while I watch both them and the camera feed to see what the delay was like. Most of the time it’s around 2 seconds and setting it to Standard Definition helps a little bit but there is always a slight delay even when having a perfect connection.
The camera and app have loads of settings you can configure, and the app is very easy to use. The two-way audio and pan and tilt function work very well but the auto tracking feature only works when you walk slowly, if you move quick its stop tracking. The movement detection works great and the sensitivity can be set between 1-5. The microphone and LED light on the front can be turned off and you can also press a button to shield the camera for when you want some privacy. I am very happy with the amount of settings and features you get with this camera, it’s very customisable!
Overall, I am pleased with this camera and the image quality is excellent, the best I have seen so far on one of these types of cameras. It is a shame about the internet requirement and small delay but apart from that its still one of the best cameras of this type I have used. Its well-made and compared with the cheaper brands this one has better translations, an easier to use app and better packaging. I’m happy to recommend this item and I feel its worth four out of five stars!
Indoor tracking camera
This camera actually moves to follow anyone it detects and records in real time
Links up to the app fine and easy seems a very decent little system for indoor security
Has a built in alarm
Easy to use app
Decent image quality
So far I’m very impressed
If I had one con I would of liked a bit more of a sharper image
Very modern designed indoor security camera, has all the featured i need to keep my my eyes on my pet while i’m working or to use it as a surveillance camera while we are away for holiday. I managed to setup in less then 30 minutes, once I plugged the camera into the DC adapter a small LED started to flash. I had to download an app to my phone, connect to the camera and then ready to use…. of course after I’ve done the Wi-Fi settings. I app works as it should, has a very user friendly interface, send me instant notifications if there is an alert.
This camera is featured with everything you need:
Motion Alerts: The add on camera will receive notification alerts when movement is detected
Instant Alerts: Real-time push notification
Remote view and control via PC, Smart phone, or Tablets
Pan & tilt in 360
2 way talking
Built in emergency siren
Privacy, allows you to hide the lens with just a tap on the app when you are home.
Easily add cameras to cover new spaces and new additions
The housing of this camera is made from shiny plastic, which looks really modern and luxurious. There is LAN port on the back if you don’t have wifi and also a microSD card slot (support up to 256GB) to save your videos on it. Cloud storage also available, i decided to do not use it as only the first month is free then works with monthly fee. The video quality is really good, record in HD 1280 x 720P and operates brilliant in daytime but also in night vision too. The weakest part of this Security Camera is the built n speaker for the 2 way talk, doesn’t have the best quality and it causing a very annoying echo on my phone probably because the mic is too close to the speaker.
All in all I’m really happy with this camera, I was surprised how well works, how many great features it has, worth every penny I paid for it. Five star out of five. Will recommend!
I was very impressed with this. Quality is very good and it’s easy to use thanks to the handy app. All settings and movement can be adjusted and tracked via the app. It offers great protection and peace of mind. Very good quality product and is incredible value when you see how impressive it really is.
Brilliant camera. Great combination with the IMOU Bullet Pro camera for outdoors. The only issue I find is that it’s not possible to integrate it to work with the Samsung Smartthings hub (this is the reason why I only give 4 stars for this review). The big difference to other IMOU indoor & outdoor cameras is that it also works as a gateway for other smart IMOU items like door sensors and motion sensors. Currently these are not available to buy on Amazon.co.uk (unfortunately I cannot complete the review for this camera because of this small issue, however I will update it when I manage to buy them from a Chinese express retailer). The Smart Tracking works really well.
Pictures: Please differentiate between early morning daylight image, night vision image & image at night with 1 light turned on. IMOU app is excellent to control the camera’s focal point. Additionally it also works great with Alexa.
Update 07/2020 : Unfortunately accesories are still not available to buy on Amazon.co.uk, as I was informed by IMOU a few months ago that they would be. I’m happy to buy them, but IMOU would not even provide me with a sample to finish this review. Now my question to IMOU is: What is the point of buying this camera if I cannot buy the accesories that connect to it? IMOU needs to think about this issue seriously, because if this is going to be the case permanently, customers might be better off buying cheaper cameras without the “hub” feature that this camera has related to the accesories (sensors and sirens).
