When you activate the safety lock, the other controls cannot work except on / off and this button, which prevents unintentional or accidental touching of other controls, especially for families with children. It also prevents accidental interruption during the cooking process.

So far so good using it first time today, looks very nice hope its last longer.
I really like the 5 burners and no knobs. The reason we got a new cooktop was because the exact replacement knobs for our old cooktop were almost as much as this entire new cooktop with 5 burners instead of 4 on our old one. And, this one heats up much faster.
The two items that took a little bit to figure out were (a) how to unlock it once locked (answer: you hold the lock button for about 5 seconds); and (b) how to engage the outside or extended burner because it defaults to the smallest option (answer: push the plus button to start the burner, then hit the button on the far left until you see two lines by the burner control.). Once you master those two tricks your good.

Used a multitool to enlarge the hole slightly, that was the only hard job.
Heats up quickly and controls nicely.
