This product is great. We caught moths within a couple of days.
As importantly, the service, support, information and follow up is excellent. Tom was brilliant at offering ideas and info. He sent an ebook with loads of information. He offered for us to send pictures so he could identify the moths and guage whether the product would work. He even sent us a bonus pack.
I’ll definitely buy these again- in a while. They last for months!
I cannot recommend this product highly enough. I have been battling for ages to get rid of our moths and nothing I’d used before now had worked. With these traps I’ve watched my moth count reduce dramatically – so much so that I haven’t seen any new ones for weeks. The customer care from Tom is second to none too.
Very good product. At first the cards bring out all the moths to my walls and then for me after 4 days they started sticking to the cards which you should put in dark places. Very nice lavender bag included. Love that it is all natural and effective
I have had an infestation of carpet moths which have done quite a bit of damage. I bought the traps and they were soon full of the male moths and I have seen a considerable reduction in the number. I will continue using the traps as they are effective and I do not hesitate in recommending them.
I ordered these as we had an infestation of moths! The traps are brilliant, caught loads of the little varmits. The instructions are clear and the traps are very easy to assemble. My only criticism, is they are a bit bulky to hang in wardrobes and the hooks are a bit flimsy. But they work, hooray.
It’s not the best time of year to be trapping flying adults but nonetheless I have my first victims (late October) already.
The product is easy and quick to assemble and odour free and the company is friendly and communicative.
This set came packaged in a branded cardboard box and includes x5 pheromone moth traps, x10 glow in the dark stickers, a bag of lavender in a branded hessian bag (product description does describe this as linen which I don’t think it is) and x5 hooks for the traps to be hung in your wardrobe. It also comes with usage instructions including hints and tips as well as images of the types of moths this will capture (Common Webbing Moth (Tineola Bisselliella), Case-Bearing Moth (Tinea Pellionella) and Pale-Backed Moth (Monopis Crocicapitella).
The moth traps are fragrance free and work by attracting male moths to the trap and trapping them with the glue when they land therefore breaking the breeding cycle. Each trap is sealed in foil, when you are ready to use them, open it up and assemble into the pyramid formation — they should last up to 3 months. Personally, I will be using these flat on the floor as they are more likely to crawl onto it. They do come with glow in the dark ‘attractors’ which I find very confusing as the three species of moth that this is made for are not attract to light and instead prefer dark, undisturbed areas. Therefore, I would render these as useless in this scenario. The lavender pouch is supposedly a natural moth repellent, but I don’t really want all my clothes to smell of lavender, so I have repurposed this — I prefer cedarwood to put next to my clothes but to be honest I’m sceptical about scents repelling moths anyway.
We had a small patch of carpet that had obviously been damaged by carpet moths — I did treat this area separately with spray chemical and constant vacuuming, but I thought I’d use these to catch any moths that I hadn’t managed to kill off. We did catch a few after using the traps for 3 weeks but I would only recommend these as part of a wider strategy to deal with the issue.
I do like that the moth traps are toxin and pesticide free whilst remaining odourless and priced at 13.99 they seem to be reasonable value when comparing them to similar products but unfortunately if you really want to kill off the moths, I’ve found that chemicals are necessary.
I’ve tried various moth repellents/killers before, all with little success. But this bundle really works.
I have learnt so much about getting rid of unwanted moths in my house and clothes from this MothOut kit! Even just reading the product details online has enlightened me.
Last year I had a moth invasion in my house that was pretty much like a Biblical plague. Never again.
This kit is triple action (pheromone traps, UV light attractor and lavender sachet repeller) which will target the kind of moths that have caused the carnage in my home last year – carpet moths and clothes moths. (Check the details and you’ll see that there are other moths that need different action taken.) There’s no poison, no harm to anything but the moths. I don’t yet know whether it will work in peak breeding season, and it will need replacing every 3 months, but as far as I can tell, the science behind this is spot on. Previously I relied on things like those cedarwood / sandalwood deterrents you can buy, and the moths just mocked me and multiplied and ate my clothes and carpets.
There’s a lot in this kit for the current price of 13.99, and it’s a lot cheaper than replacing all my clothes. I’ll update on here if this is not effective, but I’m feeling confident so far.
Before setting up the trap I see one or two moths flying around every now and then, I wouldn’t say my place is heavily infested but seeing a moth or two really annoys me.
After I have lay out the trap I no longer have to catch them myself! The above image was taken after I put out the trap for 2 weeks. Works well.
I am a great fan of pheromone-based moth traps. You leave them out for a few months in a nice quiet moth friendly place – say under an armchair or bookcase or under a kitchen cupboard. The moths think it’s a party and come flocking in, if they are there and get stuck to the sticky goo.
I have used traps successfully for clothes moths and for pale backed moths and London moths. But the key thing is that these moth traps are species specific – the traps tell you in part what type of moth you have. Sometimes, you can go for weeks getting nothing then, there is a local hatching, and they all come in a rush to your trap. So, if you have moths and get nothing at first a) leave the trap out for several months to see whether the situation changes b) try a trap for a different species. I find that the species I have trapped in my old London house are a) the common clothes and carpet moth b) the pale backed moth c) the London moth.
Moth traps may not completely solve the problem, but they will tell you whether you have a problem and what species the problem is and therefore what is likely to be attracting them.
They need to be used alongside chemical killers and deterrents on carpets and in clothes storage, and those chemical killers need to be changed or supplemented at least every three months or so.
These arrive in a smart looking box measuring approx 20cm x 2cm x just over 12cm.
Inside, you get 5 moth traps, each individually sealed in a foil packet, a strip of self-adhesive luminous stickers to stick inside the moth traps when you assemble them, a small sheet showing clear images of 3 types of moths the traps won’t attract & 3 that it will, a link to an ebook (web address & a QR code so you can use whichever you prefer) with hints & tips on how to get rid of clothes moths, 5 hanging hooks (cardboard, but able to hold the weight of a moth trap if you want to hang them up), a small bag of dried Lavendar & a small instruction leaflet.
Although it’s a little late in the year, we’ve been plagued with moths of all sorts this year so I’ve put a couple of these where we’ve been seeing clothes moths & added the Lavender bag to the place I see them most often.
So far, we’ve only caught one moth, but I haven’t seen many around lately so I’ll keep using them.
Not only is it irritating when they attack fabrics, but they always seem to get attracted to my Kindle when I read in the evening, but since putting up the traps I haven’t had a single one flying past my face in the night.
It appears the traps are more attractive than my Kindle, which is a bonus all by itself.
When I moved into my new home I found damaged carpets; clearly the work of carpet moths, so I was interested to see if they were still about.
I’ve only used the traps for about two weeks and so far and have only caught a silverfish! No moths/larvae as yet, but happy about the silverfish and as they move fast and are hard to catch. Still hopeful about catching moths, but happy if I catch any unwanted creature!
It’s easy to assemble and the inner part (which is the catcher) is very sticky, so anything that gets on it will be trapped. It comes with some glow in the dark squares, I found these a bit fiddly to remove the backs off and not sure how much the light they emit or whether it would be enough help to attract the bugs. I guess some might be more attracted to it, but I can’t imagine the glow would be bright or lasting, unless you keep taking the trap and moving back to get sunlight.
The little lavender pouch is cute and smells delightful!
All in all I’m happy with the product, but time will tell if it catches any carpet moths and I will update if it does.
I really liked the informative and comprehensive approach of these moth traps, I learned some tricks I didn’t even know and I’ve been using moth traps for two years now. The traps were really easy to set up, and the small bag of lavender was a nice touch.
I must say though, October isn’t a great time to test out moth traps as they’re more active during spring/summer. So far, these haven’t caught any moths, but neither have my regular moth traps (I placed them side by side to see which one would catch more) and there haven’t been any fliers near my clothes… so I’ll update the review if the moths start up again and I can see some clear results.
I have only just started to use these and I really like the idea of them. The pack consists of 5 Moth traps that are foil sealed for freshness and are super seay to assemble.Inside is a strong adhesive lining to trap/kill moths. You literally peel off the adhesive cover and just fold/click the trap into place.10 luminous squares are provided to further act as a beacon for moths.
I also really like the squeezable bag of fresh lavender that is also supposed to repel moths and has an amazing scent at the same time. Each trap has apaper hanging hook that can also be attached to the trap if you are going to install it on your wardrobe rail.
Should be great for protecting both clothes and carpets.
I have only just started using these,so can’t really comment on their efficacy, just yet.
Apparently, the traps will only attract certain types of moths-rather than being universal.
My rating for this product is 4 Stars.
I hope you will find my review helpful.
I’ve seen my parents use these kind of moth traps with good results so thought I’d try them too. Nice set that is easy enough to set up. It won’t attract all moths, only certain ones. Depending on how many you need to catch, these can each last 1-4 weeks. Nice lavender sachet too. Does seem to work.
This is 5 pack moth trap with each one lasting 3 months long. It is literally an empty cardboard (with inside sticky paper) which arrives flat packed.
Things I liked:
– foiled sealed for freshness
– bonus lavender moth repellant
– bonus 10 light-emitting insect attractants
– the sticky area is very sticky
Overall, it’s been hanging up for 6days and still nothing has been caught. It’s possible there is no moths on the bedroom. I will do another update in another week’s time.
These clothes and carpet moth traps are effective. They last about a month and do catch moths. Handy to use as preventative moth traps. When setting up the sticky side is so strong it is tough to get the protective cover off without tearing the whole thing. Would recommend though and good value.
This moth trap is easy to use & captures the moths that infest my bedroom
Easy to assemble. Comes with 5 moth traps with enough pieces included.
Also comes with a small lavender pouch for a drawer or wardrobe.
The trap itself has no scent which is great, I hate the strong smelling moth traps.
I have had this up for a few days now, no moths caught yet, but I am optimistic.
Not seen a single moth since started to use Mothout, it works, and doesn’t stink like older moth balls
No scent, child friendly, easy to use and to assemble
After leaving things in storage I was having issues with moths. Within 24 hours the traps had caught multiple moths and a week later I’m no longer finding them. They’re odourless. Just a bit tricky to get the plastic film off the glue and assemble. The slot rips fairly easily so you need to be careful and you can get stuck to them!
Have been using these for the past month and they work. Very easy to use.
Great company to buy from. All information included with the moth traps to explain the different types of moths and how the traps work. Will definitely be ordering from them agai
These are the best traps I’ve bought.
They’re already making a big difference and they’re super easy to use.
I have had a long standing problem with carpet moths and have tried different traps. I have found mothout to be very effective in capturing the moths. I especially like the fluorescent stickers that you place inside that work really well at night. They do not smell and are safe for animals. This product really works.
These are individually wrapped in foil and are easy to assemble.
I have brought many things to get rid of the moths in my house with very little success. Until these after 1 night of hanging 3 of these in different rooms the amount of moths they caught were too many to count.
So buy now you won’t regret it!
A well designed product with clear instructions printed on each trap. No smell, easily assembled without getting sticky fingers and can be hung up or placed on a surface. The sticky inside of the triangular tube is irresistible to the little pests (males).
Update July 2022
Working brilliantly, highly recommend. Photo is for c. 3 weeks. Moth population is down significantly.
Update:March 2022
Superb customer care from Tom at MothOut, he has given me some advice and I am adjusting my use of the traps, will update my review after a week or so and let you know. But I must tell you what great customer care I have received. This is completely unique in my experience, very impressed.
2nd Update May 2022
Worked really well, my previous issue was I had not followed the instructions correctly and taken all the recommended steps, once I did the traps worked very well. Again, I want to thank the supplier for their support without which I’m not sure I would have sorted this issue out. Thank you MothOut.
I had high hopes for this product after reading the reviews, however the traps have caught only one moth in two weeks. They were placed in all the positions recommended with no effect. The one month caught was in an under bed position and I think he just wandered into the trap. It’s possible I had a bad batch or placed the traps incorrectly, I did follow the instructions but with all the positive reviews I’m not sure if so many people could have had a negative experience. The day after my review I received a vary caring letter from Mothout which demonstrated to me they are a good company to do business with. For the cost I would recommend you give them a try.
The trap has caught quite a few moths. It means it must be doing something. I still see the ocasional moth every now and then, but I guess the trap is only intended for male moths and that might explain it. Also, there is no disturbing scent or anything like that.
Using the Moth traps the infestation has come under control. Very pleased. In truth we found he hangers are a bit flimsy and the traps hanging on the rails take space in our cupboards but the main thing is we can see by the bodies of the moths attached to the sticky surface of the product that it really works.
Came with clear instructions plus link to excellent info about life cycle of moths to help understand best way to get rid of them.
Very easy to set up the traps and caught masses of the little devils within 24 hours and beyond. Highly recommended.
Having had poor results in the past with other products, I trialled 2 batches of Moth Out traps over the autumn and caught 170% more moths on average, with the biggest improvements in the room with our wardrobes, so very happy (apologies for the geeky statistics, but I did a lot of testing work in my job).
Spray seems to work well. Traps less so. One moth caught in one month!
The traps are very easy to use and very effective as you can see in the photo. Prior to getting theses traps we had not realised what a problem that these pesky little clothes/ carpet eaters were. Our neighbour has lost a 6″x 6″ area of carpet. It has been 3 months now so have obtained a new supply of the traps.
MothOut Traps are essential when you have a carpet moth issue. They are easy to use and really do trap the moths. I have tried other makes but these are, in my opinion, the best. I am pleased they are in stock again. And they were delivered earlier than the time estimate. Thank you MothOut.
I bought these to clear a serious moth infestation at my mother’s house. They are easy to set up, no odour and so satisfying to see all the carpet moths caught!! Better than other pheromene moth traps I have used in the past and cheaper. I have now ordered more for my mother and for myself. The lavender sachet is an added treat. Delighted with my purchase.
As most of carpet moth killing products are toxic, I was looking for a more pet friendly alternative and this is definitely it. The traps are easy to assemble and work very well – after a few weeks they are full of dead moths and the number of those flying around is visibly reduced. I use red cedar rings and oil to scare moths away from my clothes and put those traps in places where I see them sitting and also behind the doors and near curtains and on tops of furniture. Recommended.
Great purchase! Bought before leaving my flat for a month and I knew there were a few moths around. When I returned, the traps had done a wonderful job trapping almost all of the moths that had hatched. There were only a handful not trapped but they were like dozed of.
There was no damage in my clothes nor on the carpet.
I definitely recommend it if you have moths, especially as it will trap them before becoming adults and start laying eggs.
They are simple to setup, the only thing that I found difficult is adjusting the hanger as it often came off. However, you can leave them on the floor or on furniture and they will still work.
Clothes moths will find these no matter where they are. The carpet ones have a much lower success rate even though I Hoover them up on the regular!
Cats haven’t been interested in them either which is fab!
When we moved into our house we discovered bare patches on some of the carpets that the previous people had strategically covered with furniture. We didn’t think much of it. It was only much later that we discovered that they’d left a major carpet moth infestation behind.
Like other reviewers I wasn’t sure that these traps would work on carpet moths – I can report back that they do, and that they are brilliant. They attract and kill the moths, and by scattering them around the house show us which areas the moths are currently still active in. We chased them out of one room with frequent hoovering only for them to take over a different carpet – MothOut to the rescue, that carpet has been saved!
It’s worth noting that the traps pretty much *only* catch carpet moths. I’ve had a few outdoors moths that found their way in, and I think one trap caught a small spider, but in general these are a very targeted intervention that don’t harm creatures that shouldn’t be harmed. Good stuff!
Defeating the moths is going to take time, but I’m really pleased to have MothOut with me all the way. The team have been very responsive via e-mail and even gave me a discount code for being a repeat customer! Thanks MothOut – your excellent traps have saved me hundreds of pounds in carpet replacement! Even when the moth problem is gone I think I’ll always keep a few scattered around my house just in case…
I have used Pheromone Clothes Moth Traps before , although from different brands, because they have proven effective and they are natural. I’ve found these ones in particular quite good value for money given that there 10 in the package and I loved the lit the lavender bag.
Moth out is i would say the best product I have bought to eliminate the moth invasion in my entire home. I will be buying more to make sure to keep the moths at bay. The moths have literally eaten through my carpets leaving holes/gaps around skirting board areas and in the middle of the rooms; especially in my boys dark humid rooms! And my clothes too..
I have tried using spray, lavendar bags, hanging moth proofer and cedar wood blocks. None are as effective at attracting the moths to the pheromone moth traps as these. They are easy to use, has no plastics all recyclable (which is a plus) and most of all effective. I can’t praise it enough.
Although quite expensive, these are very effective. I have been using them to break the cycle in a carpet moth infestation, hiding them in corners to attract the males and I have been amazed at the number of dead bodies covering the traps. This is my second round of traps and will continue until I can afford to change my wool carpets. There is no scent and they can be hidden from access by grandchildren.
I think we have a bigger problem than these traps can cope with, but they’re certainly good at catching moths! They seem to need 48 hours undisturbed before they start to “work” but then they fill up nicely with the little carpet critters! They don’t smell and are easy to assemble. The silver packets they come in are not very easy to open (the cardboard trap is on the same side as the tearing part, making it likely to just tear a corner off not the whole length) but that’s my only negative comment.
The supplier gets 10/10 for their response when something was missing from the delivery. I would definitely recommend this product snd definitely this particular supplier for their customer service. Thank you!
I bought these moth traps because my wife thought that she had seen a moth in our wardrobe. I was skeptical but as I had a very expensive sheepskin jacket in there decided to go ahead and order some. My goodness I am so glad I did. Within hours the poor creatures were clustering on the traps. I set another of them up in a bedroom and more moths were trapped. In turned out that we had moths in every room completely to my amazement. I’m ordering another set now.
We have 3 rooms fitted with Axminster carpets, As I am an O.A.P. with arthritis i do not want to use sprays to wet my carpets as i could easily slip and fall. Moth out traps are so easy and safe to use. Customer Service when i asked for help was second to none. Thank you so much for your help! I cannot take pictures to put on line but other reviews show them = mine would look just the same
I have used Moth Out products for cloth moth and pantry moth for the last 3 years.
I usually place the traps out at the first sight of months in the spring and use them until late autumn. The traps always got full as unfortunately London has been plagued by moths, but I never had any damage to my carpet or cloths. The pantry moth trap caught only a couple of them, but my food was fine, so I assume I just don’t get so much of the meal moths than the others. I trust these products, so I placed them out at the beginning of May and already caught quite a lot of “beasts”.
The best anti-moth product I have ever purchased. I had moths for a while and observed them every day. I have used these traps to cover wardrobes and rugs in my whole house. I have put my cashmere sweaters in the separate drawer and used the attached lavender moth repellent inside to protect them. I squeezed the bag from time to time to release the nice smell and make sure moths don’t come near my sweaters. I must admit that it kept moths away but also released a pleasant fragrance.
This kit looks very nice, both the bags as the traps look like part of the home decoration so there is no need to hide them. These traps caught quite a few moths within a week and to be honest, I didn’t see moths recently.
I am very happy with this excellent purchase and recommend it to all my friends!
Recently I realised that a few of my favourite black tie dinner dresses had got tiny holes in a few places. I wasn’t sure why that had happened or what was the cause, then one night I noticed little moths flying around my bedroom. My friend had been telling me that she had a problem herself. I thought there must be a solution for this and discovered moth traps. After looking for a while I found this product and due to the information given decided to give it a go. The Lavender bag is ideal to place in the wardrobe. Then I put several traps around the bedroom and other rooms too.
This was a great purchase, as after 2 or 3 days I had a look and found a few moths in some of the traps.
I will continue to use MothOut regularly, to keep my home clean, my clothes safe and free from moth damage.
These traps are not only discreet and easy to use but also WORK VERY WELL. My house was free from moths within 4 weeks. The additional dry lavender repellent protected my jumper collection and kept moths in distance. And since those traps are working in silence, unnoticeable I’ll keep using them all year round in case moths fancy my clothes again. I have been trying to get rid of moths for a very long time, using different products from mothballs through moth sprays to naphthalene-based products. Despite the horrible smell and a massive mess, they worked only for a short period of time. I then found these traps. I couldn’t believe they are fragrance-free yet so effective. In hindsight, I can see now that this product was my best purchase.
