Nice flat base microwave with grill too. Nice preset program settings & easy to use without preset too. I like that the button & finish noises can be muted. I like that the grill can be used without the microwave as well as combined. The defrost worked particularly well. For me it needed to be smaller size as it weighs less and fits in better. Thank you for such a good value quality product.

Seems fine. Lots of people have mentioned the Loc function. It is confusing because there is a child lock function but there is also an inbuilt security function that sets itself after a period of inactivity and they both show Loc on the display. When you start using the microwave open the door and shut it again. That will clear the inbuilt security function so if it still shows Loc when you try to use it it means the child lock is on so press the child lock button for 3 seconds to switch it off. Looks lovely and I love the flatbed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLooks great and the controls are really easy to use. The flatbed feature makes it easy to add things in to the microwave part of the way through cooking something else. It also allows me to make put in rectangular dishes which is surpisingly convenient. I use it mainly use it for heating things up. It does that just fine.

The device was generally OK, but the child lock feature did not work as explained in the manual. It kept relocking itself at regular intervals, and would not unlock just by pressing the botton. Had to open the door, hold the button in until it told me it was locked, then hold the button in again until it beeped once. Not something you want to do if just heating some food up. Item is being returned today, just a 2* rating.

As I liked the style of the device, thinking it might be a one off fault, I decided to exchange it for the same model. MISTAKE. This one has the same self-applied child lock fault, and, again, would not let itself be turned off as described in the manual. Will be now looking for another one that is anything not Sharp!

Having just looked through a lot of reviews on this device I found the answer. When it says ‘LOC’ it does not always refer to ‘child lock’ as I originally thought, but could be a ‘safety lock’. The extract from the manual actually describes it very well, just that a manual is not included with the device, and this feature is not described in the ‘user guide ‘ that is. When I contacted the manufacturer about the issue, they didn’t bother to explain this. If this had been explained, it would be a 5* rating!

4.0 out of 5 stars Flaky child lock

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter 12 years of a turn table microwave, it failed and we needed a new one. After some research I decided on a flatbed (albeit dubiously) and I’m so delighted with it. The food heats through to the centre (always been a problem before). This model was the size we required and was very reasonably priced. Speedily delivered and well packaged. Not really needed the grill so cannot comment, but it was included with this model. Very happy with the simple buttons and dials to use. Would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThere’s nothing to dislike about this compact oven. It’s well built, looks good, and cooks perfectly. The best thing of all…of course…is that it has no turntable. The advantage of a flatbed microwave cannot be over emphasised. In fact, the only disadvantage is that they are still more expensive to buy than one with a turntable, but the price gap has narrowed with time, and now, a flatbed microwave only oven like this is very affordable. I have only had one microwave oven before, and it lasted 20 years! If this new one lasts only half as long…it will see me out! Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLiving on an island I had a unique problem with turntable microwaves, in a very short space of time, the turntable platform would go rusty as the friction weakens the paint away and the sea air accelerated the dreaded rust. A flatbed resolves this problem, hence my choice.

However, this review is to say just how impressed I am with this SHARP microwave in other areas. I’ve had this microwave 2 months so far, I will never go back to a turntable version, and Sharp has exceeded my expectations in all areas.

It’s a nice standard size but with great interior volume, cleaning is so easy that it’s done every time with a simple wipe with kitchen roll or towel, you can’t do that with a turn table in the way.

The settings are just easy to get along with and nothing complicated. Quick start is 30 seconds a push, a couple of taps and it’s great.

At 900w it’s getting two potatoes done in 8 min (12 if they are big ones) that’s 50% quicker than my turntable one so it’s more energy efficient and convenient.

It looks very good, quality materials used throughout, I think this will live for a long time. Its longevity increased by easy maintenance.

100% recommended, put simply, they have nailed it! This is definitely the one to choose (price / quality / ease of use)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp is totally on point with this flat bed microwave.

Love the 30 second increment feature. Wasn’t sure if I’d like the flatbed but so much better than having a turntable. So much easier to keep clean. Can use larger dishes and it cooks more evenly.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA very powerful 800 watt oven. It’s great that it doesn’t have a turntable, but it heats/cooks evenly. It’s a lot easier to clean because there’s no turn table. The controls are very clear and very easy to operate. It’s a bit difficult to open the door and the cancel button is tucked away under the large know/controller. It’s a bit noisy, but not too bad. Still worthy of 5 stars.

After 2 months Use I can say

    It works well
It looks Modern with it being Flatbed
Not very loud compared to others in this price range
    Good Value for money

Great flat bed microwave. Easy cleaning and simple controls. Eco mode button is a bit sensitive and you have to make an accurate and positive press to put it into standby but no big issue …. you don’t have to do this.
    Very happy with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery impressed with this. It’s easy to clean and doesn’t rotate so can fit in larger plates etc.
The kids use the popcorn setting (it’s just a 2:30 timer).
The defrost setting stops every now and then and beeps so you can give the product a shake when defrosting. That can be annoying or useful, depending on what’s being defrosted.

Nice to look at, and generally a good product.

    So easy to clean!!!
All microwaves should be like this.

I don’t agree that it heats better/thoroughly. It warms the same as others we’ve had (all turn tables) and this one left cold bits in the middle the same as them.

However it is a great microwave and I won’t go back to a turntable now!

Also the sellers were amazing 10/10 as the microwave had a dent in it and they offered to exchange or apply a discount so really good resolutions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersArrived missing any instruction book/G’tee card or any paperwork. Not that you actually need them.
    Downloaded the PDF online.

Works even better than I expected. Flatbed is easy to keep clean and seems to heat some items like plates much more quickly than my last 2 turntable u’waves so you may have to reduce timings.

Don’t like the bright White display, so I covered it with the blue protective film that keeps the door closed for packing.
The software programming leaves a lot to be desired! I can never get rid of that ‘ChildLock’ really annoying having to open the door – even a child could do it!
Also the power-saving mode is just really VERY stupid. Equatres to about 2 seconds use over a year.

Have had several turntable microwaves in the past and this is the first flatbed, in our opinion these are far superior, heats food right through (no cold spots) quicker and so easy to clean. Can’t compare this microwave to any other flatbed but it gets 5 stars from us.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWell for starters I do like it
But flatbed maybe you don’t realize not everybody knows what a flatbed is because at first I thought there was something missing.
And yes I know it may explain what the flatbed is but if you’re not familiar you’re just looking for a microwave

Anywho the only reason it doesn’t get full marks is it could be me but I find the vessel you put your product in gets a lot hotter than you would think.
So you do end up thinking your product is hot enough when it isn’t

So be careful when taking it ou

We last bought a microwave oven in 1998. This was a Sharp, and used it pretty heavily. Then, it began making flashes that alarmed us, and smelling of burned plastic. Time, we thought, for a replacement. We decided on this Sharp model.

It does everything that a microwave is supposed to do. We find the controls more intuitive than on the older model – not surprising, as we never could find the patience with those LED menus and sub-menus. The stationary cooking surface is useful, as we can week shapes and sizes that would otherwise need a bigger oven.

Some reviewers have complained about the noise. We also were concerned about this at first. For a while, we thought of sending the oven back. However, though it must be as loud as ever, we no longer notice the noise. Unless it’s tooth pain or taxes, you do get used to most things. If you have thin walls and sniffy neighbours, the noise might be an issue. Not so for us.

    So we like it.

Our just over one year old microwave had the paintwork start to fall off and so needed replacing. I have always liked flatbed microwaves as you can fit so much more in them and this Sharp model didn’t disappoint. Firstly it looks stunning, I love the design. It has an external handle to open the door which I much prefer to the push button type. The controls are nicely laid out and the dial to set the time is so much nicer than the push button type. The cooking results of this microwave have been great and everything cooks evenly. The fan noise is a little on the high side compared to others but not too bad.
The biggest plus point for me is that you can turn off all the annoying and over the top bleeping noises that all electrical devices seem to insist on these days. When the microwave has finished cooking it just stops and displays end to let you know it’s finished. So much nicer than lots of annoying bleeping.
In conclusion I really like this microwave and hope it lasts a long time.

I like the flatbedicrowaves as it’s gives much more room in the cavity. It’s simple enough to programme and has pre-set features. Nice looking black with silver trim. Good price for a flatbed

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHow liberating to have a microwave that doesn’t need a turntable! For years I’ve got so irritated when large dishes don’t fit properly on the turntable and you end up dislodging it. They’re also a pain to clean! This machine has huge capacity as a result of not needing a turntable. I also like the Auto Cook buttons, giving you options for perfect cooking of specific foods at the right power level and for the right time depending on weight (e.g. jacket potatoes). The smooth inner walls of the microwave are easy to clean. The overall design is slick and smart, and doesn’t take up too much space.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI think this microwave is really brilliant in terms of performance, always heats up food as needed. The functions of auto-defreezing also works really well. I personally don’t use other programs too often so can’t give my opinions on them.

The only issues I’m having are regarding the ease of use. The panel under the programs is really confusing, even simple things like changing time is very counter-intuitive. Also, I dislike the fact that you can’t specify an exact power (700W, 600W, etc.) but rather you select values between 10 & 100. Sure, you can look up the corresponding values either online or in manual but who would be checking it every time you’re using a microwave.

To sum up, it’s a good quality microwave but I only recommend it for people who are not bad with technology. My parents are struggling significantly with using this microwave while they have no issues with using their Samsung microwave at home, which is way clearer and easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good microwave, but not as easy to use as other models

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a very good microwave which also has grill and convection oven facilities. I bought it because my Hoover microwave with grill started to rust badly on the painted steel interior after just a few weeks. I wanted a stainless steel interior. This microwave has a large stainless interior. It has no turntable so can accept larger items. Grill and convection oven are added benefits. Simple to operate. Has various combination cooking modes (microwave + grill, microwave + convection oven etc), and has a quality feel to it. Even comes with a grill tray and shelf. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThis is my first flatbed, and I don’t think I’d go back to a turntable. It is easy to clean and the non-stick lining is great and looks well made. Just a wipe with a soapy cloth. The microwave cooking seems uniform (I really use for ready-meals), and I can use larger and rectangular containers too.
This is also the first time that I’ve had an inbuilt grill and it is impressive with almost instant heat and cooking fish was quick and they browned nicely. Jacket potatoes are fast plus get a crispy jacket.
You can use a combination of microwave+grill and can select the proportion of each to be used and here the instruction manual is very useful. For simple microwaving it works so logically even a child could guess it, if they can overcome the child lock! Strangely, and cleverly, the control panel won’t work until you open the door, so little fingers don’t start it accidentally. (After the initial opening the controls work whether the door is open or closed).
A niggle, and I was about to return the machine because of it until I worked out what the instructions meant: the beep is loud and it beeps a lot. It will beep when the cooking is done and then beep every two minutes until you open the door. Poor neighbours! However you can mute the sound completely: open the door, press the child lock once, quickly, and “off” appears briefly. The downside though is it doesn’t tell you when the cooking has finished.
Overall, excellent machine, large enough for couples (bigger version available for families), it is compact, well made and I’d recommend it, even with the b**ping beeping sound!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love the space-saving design which means there is still plenty of functional space left on the counter top surface for food prep. This is easy to clean and heats food through thoroughly and with the light facility, you can see your food whilst cooking inside the microwave. Definitely value for money and looks good.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWant to STOP the beeping? Press (don’t hold) the child lock BUTTON once. Again, only press it once. Holding it would turn on the full Child Lock.

After pressing this button once the word ‘off’ will be displayed.
This mutes the microwave and after a minute turns on an anti tamper mode.

To exit tamper mode simply open the microwave door to un ‘Loc’.

For further help, read the microwave manual in the Child Lock section.
