The sound quality is incredible but the microphone quality is lacklustre
Connects easy just put the dongle in and make shore the switch is on PS5 and turn on the headset and PS5 connects right away.
Ok…. No EQ setting on the PS5 home screen and no inzone setting in the ps5 menu. Also no Apple app to adjust the headset (Windows only) at the moment so i hope this being a headset for the PS5 they sort this out quickly as people can update their headsets including my self.
The packing is wonderful and done very well but the cable is very so i got the ugreen usb-c to usb-c 3m data cable and it works perfect so it can go in the usb-c slot on the ps5 and charge while using the gamepad wired at the same time in the normal usb slot at the front. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B085G3R8VY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
All in all very happy i just hope they add features on the PS5 to adjust the EQ levels as that would solve the apple app issue. But i also hope for the apple app so i can keep it up to date and sounding great.
Switched up from an original Astro A50 wireless headset that was beginning to cut out continually and wanted to go for something easy and fully integrated this time that didn’t involve HDMI adaptors and optical cables etc and I have absolutely no regrets so far. The headset is lightweight, comfortable and occludes background noise well even without the ANC turned on. ANC works well if you need it, mic sounds good (but is quite sensitive so move it away from your mouth!). So simple to use, just plug the adaptor in, turn on the headset and you are good to go with all controls fully integrated into the PS5 software. Highly recommend this if you want something simple but good quality.
Really good for streaming and the noise cancellation is epic. The sound quality is the only downside as I do have a few louder ones
Introduction
I’ve been using the Pulse 3D wireless headset since the launch of the PS5 which is undoubtedly a decent headset that has lasted me well; however, I had been looking for a bit more refined audio quality which the H9 claims to deliver, so I decided to take the plunge.
One major eye-catching feature which hooked me into getting this headset was its dual connectivity (via USB dongle and Bluetooth); this makes it a versatile headset, compatible with the PS5, PC & smartphones etc…
Comfort
The headset is very lightweight, the headband is well cushioned and the earcups are SUPER SOFT making these a pleasure to wear. I’ve worn these for rather long gaming sessions and no discomfort whatsoever.
Audio Quality
Sound quality: The sound quality is extremely crisp and well balanced; it’s great for music where you can hear the different instruments and lyrics clearly. As for gaming (most importantly), you get a good sense of your surroundings so for more tactile games such as Call of Duty, you can pinpoint where your opponent is.
ANC quality: Sony use their active noise cancelling technology found in their higher end headphones, so as you can imagine, the ANC does a wonderful job at cancelling that unwanted ambient background noise.
Microphone quality: I’ve not had any complaints in regards to the quality of the microphone, my friends understand exactly what I’m saying so there is no communication issues; however, friends have complained from time to time about hearing my breathe down the mic, if this happens to you, just bend the microphone back as it’s flexible. Another good and important feature is the sidetone so you can hear yourself when talking, preventing you from shouting down the microphone.
Battery Performance
On a full charge, the battery life is very impressive. The advertised working time is around 32 hours and it looks like that is fairly accurate as I have done several long gaming sessions and I still have lots of battery left.
Final Thoughts
The INZONE H9 is a headset that has a rather premium price tag, but it does deliver premium quality and features, so for that reason I would highly recommend.
NOTE: I did not buy this to use with the PC, so I cannot comment on the PC features and results.
It lets me hear the game and chat to me mates!
Unboxing the headset is a bland experience with little to look at with Sonys eco friendly packaging. Included in the box is the headset, usb-c charging cable and the dongle. Would be nice if there was at least a cloth case as with some other headsets of this price.
The headset on first glance looks pretty bulky in comparison to other brands with its air control style ear cups. The quality feels pretty good, all the hinges are smooth and don’t creak. The buttons, flip to mute mic and ear pads all feel solid and long lasting. The headset feels pretty solid but one things that lets the quality down is the Matt finish which can be easily marked and get dirty not really a problem as it can be wiped down just an observation.
Setting up is super easy just plug the dongle into the device you wish to use it on and set the little slider on the dongle to PS5 or PC. One thing to note on setup is that the INZONE app only works on a windows pc (requirements are listed in description) which means macbook owners won’t be able to customise the eq, side tone and other features of this headset. PlayStation is just plug and play with no access to eq like on the pulse 3D headset which may be changed in a future PlayStation update as it was with the pulse 3D.
The INZONE app is ok and has some good features, you can customise your eq, side tone, mic volume, Bluetooth and a few other things but to be honest it’s a waste of time if you’re planning on using this headset for PS5 only as most of the features of the app don’t save to the headset so any eq etc only work when on PC with the app running in the background. From experience only things that seem to carry over from the app to PS5 are side tone, ambient mode adjustment, Bluetooth adjustments and which modes you want active(noise cancellation, ambient mode) which is a little disappointing.
Sound quality is superb with greats highs and punchy bass, the clarity blows my previous artic 7Ps out the window with explosions and gun fire in call of duty sounding far clearer without that fuzziness on top. Story games such as God of war ragnarok are great especially with noise cancellation on, it truly creates the immersion desired. The sounds like I said before can be customised on PC but is setup already on PS5 and stuck at that eq for now but to be fair it’s very good and directional sound is amazing as it’s fully compatible with the tempest 3D audio in the PS5 so it’s easy to hear where sounds are coming from such as footsteps. My only criticism of the sound on PS5 is sometimes the bass can overpowering in a busy small map on call of duty but isn’t too bad and still impressive but that eq sure would be nice to get it to my preference.
Mic quality is the thing most people criticise this headset on but to be honest it’s perfectly acceptable for in game chat and PlayStation party with no complaints from everyone I play with, some even commented I sound loud and clear but for streamers and anyone planning on using it for a similar purpose you will probably need an external mic for the quality as it isn’t on par with some other headsets at this price point. The biggest let down for me is the side tone(mic monitoring), it does work but I can hardly hear myself when trying to talk to people while game volume is at the level I like unlike my 7Ps which I could hear myself clearly making is easy to talk and make sure I’m not speaking to loud not sure if this will change with a update or not.
Comfort is amazing, the ear cups are nice and big and got plenty of depth for even the biggest dumbo ears like mine. The material of the ear pads is like a leatherette and feels very comfy and soft and doesn’t seem to make my ears too hot even after hours of gaming. Great for use with glasses and doesn’t apply too much pressure anywhere. Despite its bulky looks it’s very light and comfortable wear for long gaming sessions.
Overall very reliable connection with no dropouts on the dongle and Bluetooth. Has a pretty good range but if you have thick stone walls like my house then it understandably struggles. The simultaneous audio is Great been able to take phone calls and watch videos while listening to the game.
To summarise if you buying this for PlayStation 5 it’s great with it’s integrated controls on the PS5 system but lacking the sound customisation and not the best of mic quality or side tone. If buying for PC it’s pretty great but there are a lot of other headsets out there for similar or a little more that would probably be better. I enjoy this headset as its super comfy and mainly use it on PS5. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you get this headset and hopefully they’ll be futures updates to come that’ll fix some of the let’s downs.
On these headphones from Sony are the best game if headphones I’ve owned, and I’ve owned a few! Currently using with PS5 it’s enhanced my gaming in a way I didn’t think was possible. Sound is spot on ease of use is spot on the same goes for comfort and battery life. There is a small downside. The noise cancelling is not on a par with my other Sony headphones but they were another 100 more. But don’t let that put you off there is more than enough cancelling to cut out all but the loudest of external noise. Excellent product and the best ps5 addition there is
No actual instructions, just some diagrams inside the lid (once you connect it, it makes sense) but I usually manage to work out how to get something up & running or put together.
These are great; comfortable weight, encase my ears rather than squash them which small round ones do. (I game for more than 6 hours a day, and the small ones mean I have to give the cartilage regular rest.)
There’s a tad too much bass, but I’ll either get used to it, or see if my TV can let me adjust it. If it’s deliberate to help with the noise cancelling, then fair enough; rather that than hear stuff I’ve bought them to eliminate.
I bought these as my neighbour is noisy and there’s no soundproofing so I can hear everything even with ear plugs jammed in; every cough, every laugh, every word, door slamming, dog barking, hammering up & down the stairs, hair dryer, microwave oven ya de ya… so, clearly I really don’t want to hear any of it and don’t see why I should have my TV on painfully loud for me in order to drown them out; and it doesn’t help much anyway.
I have tried a multitude of headphones over the years everything from JVC, and Sennheiser to Grado and everything in between. For my money, Grado makes the very best headphones I have ever bought and they also have exemplary after-sales service. I have 2 pairs of ANC Sony headphones the 1000’s Mk3 and Mk4 which are super headphones. My gripe about them is that they are very plasticky and the headband can break.
I received these headphones via the Vine programme to review on Amazon expecting great things given the Sony I already have and quite frankly they are great. They are designed for gaming so not tuned as brilliantly for Hi-fidelity in the same way as the MK4’s. They still give off great sound but are designed with even more bass than the other headphones I have.
The build quality is good and the microphone works very well. I tried them on a phone call and during a Teams meeting and the mic worked perfectly. The Bluetooth works perfectly and has not dropped any calls so far. The rechargeable battery really does last 32 hours and overall these are simply super quality, giving off amazing sound.
Recommended.
The headset is a lot lighter and cooler than other headsets I have used. The sound is excellent. I used to use Turtle Beach Stealth 700 GEN2. The bass and sound quality of the Inzone H9 is way better. The battery last ages as well.
I have a bluetooth noise cancelling set of Sennhisers, as well as some wired noise cancelling Jabra for work. These SOny’s are similar quality. They feel nice on the ears, so can be worn for a long time. Sound quality through the mic is good, and the sound quality of the headphones is good. Worth an audition.
These are amazing for the playstation 5!
The sound quality is exceptional, enhancing the gaming experience whilst the noise cancelling function drowns out all other sounds to truly let you be submerged into the game. And I cannot describe how comfortable these are!
The H9 put to shame my pulse 3d playstation 5 headphones!!
I haven’t used these for the PC gaming side, but from a playstation 5 gaming experience, these are a must and justify the price point.
Okay i am not sure where to start, these are Sonys real first attempt at breaking into the PC market with headset, these wireless gaming headphones from the INZONE lineup, which is for PC & PS5. When paired with the PlayStation 5 console as they share a similar aesthetics.
They arrive in the branded box shown, on opening you have a nice layout of the headset and the accessories, these are Sonys new premium headset and for its price they come packed with features that as a gamer i love.
First off i recommend giving them a full charge using the provided usb-c cable. Plug in the 2.4ghz dongle into your PC/Mac PS5/PS4 devices flick the switch to what you device your using then hold the power button on your headset for around 3/4 seconds then boom connected.
The H9 have great controls. There are a couple of physical buttons that let you adjust your settings on the go, and most are decently easy to use. There is a volume wheel on the left ear cup. It beeps to let you know when you’ve reached minimum and maximum volume. There is access to the ANC on, off, and ‘Ambient Sound’ mode, which allows you to hear back ground noise without having to take off the earphones. On the right ear cup you have the game chat button, you have the Bluetooth button, and the power button.
Sound quality well i normally use another well known gaming brand for headsets and have done for a long time, i am very impressed with the over all sound quality of these headset, the 360 spatial sound while gaming is truly immersive, it sounds like your in the game, (not great playing resident evil and you hear things behind you lol ) however the flick of a button ASM – Ambient Sound Mode you can hear your wife calling you to put out the bins or washing up lol . You can mute the headset simply just flicking up the mic allowing for a conversation locally without everyone hearing.
This headset is comfortable each cup covers the ear well and is covered with foam and a synthetic leather with is easy to wear, the headset is fully adjustable and to be honest the hinges are well made giving the headset some really great flexibility. They are not that heavy and to be honest i forgot i was wearing them one gaming session, that was until wifey tapped me on shoulder whoops . Battery life i am very surprised Sony claim 32 hours and well i am very impressed as well i got a little over 32 hours (not all at once wifey would kill me) the best thing is the headers et is fast charge, but you can use them while they are charging.
For use with PC there is some addition features that you can use with the supplied Sony software available to download (link provided in the box) that allows for custom use which is great for when you wan to be fully immersed in your game.
Over all its a hefty price tag do these warrant the price, i am surprised but yes as Sonys first attempt to really break into the PC headset market with the added benefit of being able to use them on my PS5 yes.
Over all im super happy to recommend
I’ve been using these for the last month on my PS5 and my PC and so far I am liking them. The setup is really easy, alongside the headset you get a USB dongle with a slider on one side to choose between PlayStation or PC. Once I plugged it into my PS5 the sound worked within seconds which is great, the same can be said about the PC the drivers installed automatically and it was up and running. Although you do get extra features by installing the INZONE hub on windows such as sound profiles and spatial sound to match your head shape.
In terms of the actual headset, it’s extremely comfy even when worn for long periods. I have a pair of WH-1000XM2 which are extremely comfy but these are just ever so slightly better. This is down to the cushions being soft on the earcups and the headband and also the fact that the headset weighs very little.
The noise cancelling works very well although I find it slightly worse than my previous headphones as I feel a bit more pressure feeling when using these. I usually have them in ambient mode or off so I am a bit more aware of my surroundings. The actual sound is great as well, they come with 360 spatial sound which genuinely gave me a bit of an edge compared to my old headphones. I play a lot of warzone and I got a sense of direction when playing which helped.
There are multiple buttons on the headset which took a while to adjust to knowing the locations of all of them. On the left side, there is a volume wheel to quickly adjust volume, a button to which sound modes and a USB-C port to charge. On the right side, there is the on/off button a Bluetooth button and a rocker switch to choose between chat audio and game audio. Also on the left ear is the mic arm, this was one of the killer features for me. The ability to tip it down to enable the mic and push it back up to disable is so easy and useful especially when someone knocks on the door, the dog bark etc. It’s worth noting the battery is also great I charge it maybe twice a month and I play 1-2 hours most days.
They aren’t cheap (currently 269) but they are an amazing set of headphones. The premium build quality and the features they offer do help justify the price and I have no regrets in ordering them. I use them every day both for gaming and I also use them for work teams/zoom calls and I haven’t experienced a single issue with them. I would recommend them if you have the budget.
These Sony INZONE H9 Headphones are a top of the range premium product as you’d expect from a brand like Sony. When I saw the price tag I was a little skeptical whether these would be worth 269 however I can honestly say they’re an absolute revelation.
The design is superb, the headphones are lightweight with a really soft and cushioned adjustable head band. They’re rechargeable via the supplied USB C lead and Sony state that the battery will last approximately 32 hours off 1 charge. I’ve used plenty of headsets over the years and the battery life on the H9 is by the far the longest lasting. I’ve only had to charge these twice in the last 45 days and they’ve been used most days.
Connection to my Windows 11 PC was quick and straightforward via 2.4ghz wireless using the supplied USB adapter. You can also connect the headset to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
Weighing in at roughly 330g, I’ve found them very comfortable to wear. They’re not too heavy and both the head band and synthetic leather ear pads are soft and very well designed meaning you can wear the headset for hours without feeling any discomfort. I usually play for 3-4 hours at a time and hardly notice them on my head even towards the end of my gaming time.
The sound quality, both input and output is great, Sony have used 360 spatial sound technology with 2 ch stereo signals resulting in 7.1ch surround sound. I’ve been using it with my Windows 11 PC and downloaded the INZONE Hub PC software. This offers a lot of customisation however I’ve found the default settings are more than adequate. For PS5 users there’s inbuilt integration however I don’t have a PS5 so can’t comment on this. The H9 also has Active Noise Cancelling and ambient modes, as expected they function as intended and this feature is notable compared to cheaper headsets. The microphone is clear, my friends have commented it sounds crisp and clear without picking up any background noise.
Overall, I have to say this headset really is top of the range and worth investing in if you’re a serious gamer. The price may put some people off but if you’re after a comfortable and reliable headset that offers premium performance this is definitely worth considering. I’m really happy with the headset and would happily recommend it, well worth a 5 star review.
When these arrived my son saw them and poof, just like magic they were gone and the only place that I have seen them since is on his head. He wears them all the time while gaming, which he does far too often. He says that this is by far the most comfortable headset that he has used, and the lucky boy has used quite a few circa 100-200 headsets, but these, apparently, are better in every way. I can vouch for them being good at noise cancelling as he never hears me shouting for him, at least he says he can’t. He uses these via his laptop and says that it connects really quickly via Bluetooth and they also connect to his phone, so he can use these to talk with his friends via his phone when playing together, or through his laptop. My son is very fussy (aka spoilt) when it comes to tech and for these to be so highly praised by him tells me that these really are the bees knees.
These INZONE H9 wireless headphones have everything you’d expect from Sony. The sound quality is very good; the mid-range and highs are crystal clear, and the bass is nice and punchy.
The Noise Cancellation feature is very effective at cutting out unwanted sounds, although probably not quite as good as a pair of Bose QuietComforts. Alongside the Noise Cancellation, they also feature Ambient Sound Mode, which allows some outside noise in, so that you aren’t totally isolated from the world (good for hearing a phone ring or doorbell chime).
Despite having just 2 channels, the 360 Sound Mode virtualises 7.1 channels, and works well at providing special awareness to help you pinpoint exactly where a sound is coming from. This is particularly useful during gaming of Call of Duty, but pointless if you only play FIFA.
With the boom mic positioned directly in front of your mouth, the headset is able to capture clear dialogue with minimal background noise, however, if you’d rather keep shtum, it can be muted and stowed away.
The ear pads are over-the-ear and made from comfortable synthetic leather which provides good sound isolation and stability. In addition, the headphones are quite light, which enables wearing them for extended amounts of time without any aches or strains.
The headphones work wirelessly using the supplied USB dongle, or via Bluetooth. Both methods prove to have low latency. Sony claims that the battery lasts 32 hours on a full charge, which is fairly accurate, although this reduces somewhat if multiple features are enabled and the volume is increased, etc. Charging takes approximately 3 hours from empty.
The build quality is very good, albeit ‘plastic fantastic’, which I can understand as Sony seek to match the styling of the PS5. Nevertheless, the body still feels sturdy, and the in-built controls are responsive, so no issues there.
Overall, if you’re looking for a wireless headset to accompany a PC, Laptop, or even better, a PS5, I would highly recommend considering the INZONE H9.
Box/Presentation:
As you would expect from a brand like Sony, this headset arrives well packed in a nice looking box, that would be more than suitable should you be wishing to give it as a gift. The box and internal packaging is all made from sustainable and easy to recycle materials which is nice to see. In the box you get the headset itself, a USB transceiver, USB charging cable and usual documentation.
Design & Build Quality:
The headset is clearly designed to match the stylings of the PS5 console and DualSense controllers; something it does well. Whilst by no means ugly, it is clearly shaped and designed like a gaming headset, so is probably not something you’d want to wear out and about.
Although the body is nearly all plastic, it feels well put together and durable. Whilst it doesn’t quite have the same premium feel of other headsets, the materials used are both light weight and more environmentally friendly (recyclable) than other options.
Comfort & Fit:
I have a large head (63cm circumference) so am used to finding headsets to be a little too tight; in this case though I had no issues. There is very little sideways clamping pressure, so this headset was comfortable for me to wear even with my glasses on. Both sides of the headset are adjustable, with 10 possible settings that give a firm click as they notch into place.
The ear cups are also large. They both tilt and swivel to accommodate different shaped heads, and will swivel through 90 to allow you to rest them on your shoulders or place the headset face down when placing them on a surface.
The soft-fit leather ear cups give good sound isolation, however they do get warm after about an hour’s usage. Depending on your environment this might make them uncomfortable for long term use without any breaks, or occasionally adjusting them to let your ears cool a little from time to time.
Connection:
You can connect to the headset with both the included 2.4GHz USB dongle (with a switch on the side to select PC or PS5), and via Bluetooth (5.0). Disappointingly, there is no option to have a wired connection.
The headset allows you to connect both at the same time, meaning you can have two sources playing at the same time, such as voice chat and a game, or to accept phone calls whilst gaming.
Connection via both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth is good, and in my time using the headset I have not experienced any drop outs, disconnects, or interference of any kind.
Latency is also very good. In use I’ve not been able to notice any on either the PS5 or PC, whether I was gaming or chatting.
Physical Controls:
The physical controls on the headset are well laid out and easy to distinguish.
The right ear cup has buttons for power, Bluetooth, as well as a volume rocker that controls the chat/game (primary driver/secondary driver) volume mix.
The left ear cup has a button to toggle between Active Noise Cancellation, Ambient Mode or Off; a USB Type-C charging port (with LED status indicator), and a volume dial. The volume dial on the headset works independently of the main Windows system volume, which is a nice feature.
Sound Quality & Active Noise Cancellation:
The sound quality of the H9 is very good, for both gaming and music. Surprisingly, the default sound profile is very good and well balanced, although it can be tailored more to your personal tastes via the Equalizer in the companion App should you wish to.
Another surprise is that the secondary driver is equally as good as the primary, meaning that should you wish to game through one source whilst listen to music from a second source, neither will suffer from poorer quality audio.
Active noise cancelling is very good. It might not be up there with the very best, but it is more than good enough. Ambient mode is also very good. And for those who get affected by it, the ‘pressure’ caused by the ANC is exceptionally good, meaning the headset is comfortable to use even for long periods with ANC on.
Surround Sound:
Sony uses a simulated system called Spatial Sound to recreate 7.1 surround sound on a stereo headset. In use this did a reasonably good job of creating a more 3D sound space. However, it is a little hit and miss and the system certainly seems tuned to perform better in FPS, 3rd Party Shooters, and Open World games, rather than other genres.
The headset also has a system called 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer. This lets you take a picture of your ears so that the software can adjust the sound profile to better match the 3D shape of your ears. I must admit in my case, I didn’t really hear any discernable difference. I am not sure though whether this is down to the shape of my ears matching Sony’s default settings, or if the system is just a bit of a gimmick.
Microphone:
The microphone is the flip down boom style of mic. It has a flexible arm on its end, to better adjust the position of the mic to the shape of your face. You can mute the mic by simply flipping it up (until you hear an audible click), which I found nice and convenient.
The microphone is OK, but is probably the weakest part of this headset. It seemed perfectly fine for voice chat as it is clear, and is even Discord Certified. However, it lacks detail so anyone wishing to use it for content creation might be disappointed and will soon find themselves wanting a third party mic instead.
Battery Life:
Battery life is reasonable. Sony rate it at 32 hours with ANC off, and in use I was matching, and even beating this figure.
One negative is there is no way to get an accurate percentage reading on the battery charge left. Even in the App it is restricted to just showing 4 levels of charge.
On the positive side though, it is possible to charge the headset whilst also continuing to use it, so you should never find yourself not being able to use it.
The battery is charged via the included USB charging cable. You will need to supply your own USB power source though, as no USB Power Adapter is supplied,
Software & Features:
The Inzone Hub App is OK, and does a reasonable job, although it isn’t as feature rich as some other companion Apps I’ve used from other brands. It allows you to do the basics such as the volume control, adjust the balance of the game/chat mix, and set the microphone volume. As well as more advanced stuff like adjust the Equalizer, the Spacial Sound, Dynamic Range, and set the Noise Cancellation settings, etc.
PS5 Integration:
The headset works flawlessly with the PS5, with the console detecting it straight away. It is compatible with the PS5’s Tempest 3D Audiotech, and you get on screen indicators for volume, battery level, mic status, and your game/chat balance.
Conclusion:
This is a very good gaming headset that is also more than suitable for also listening to music and watching films too. It is light weight and comfortable to wear (even on larger heads), although it should be noted that the ear cups can get warm after prolonged use. Sound quality is excellent, ANC is very good, and the Spatial Sound also does a good job of recreating surround sound. The ability to have two sound sources connected at once is extremely useful, and well implemented with neither sound source being a lesser quality than the other.
However, given its price of 269 (at the time of review, Aug 2022), I expect everything about this headset to be great, and unfortunately the quality of the microphone just is not up to the standard set by the rest of the headset. It is by no means a bad microphone, and is perfectly suitable for voice chat in games or talking to your friends, so if that is what you are after it won’t be a problem. However at this price point I would expect better, so can’t help but be a little disappointed by it.
As a result, whilst I do highly recommend this headset, I can only give it 4 stars.
These headphones were meant to be used with my Pc.. but then my son thought they would be worth a try on his ps4 that was the last time i saw them for a few days lol.
There is no claim in the product description they are compatable with ps4 (only ps5 and/or pc) but they worked like a dream on my sons PS4 and all he had to do was go into the auido settings on his playstation, much like you would for any other accessories such as headphones.
I wanted to make sure it was stated they do work with PS4.
Ever since they were set up they have been working brilliantly. My son said they are probably the comfiest ear pads he has ever worn!, and this is from a older teen who has used, tested and worn out many headphone sets.
He said the ring of padding you would usually feel very much as a slight pressure in a particular spot against your ear, is just simply not there, it just fits perfectly without that pressure.
He said the headset connects instantly, and charges very quickly too.
The mic is easily usable and no tininess in sound reported from his mates online, if you want to talk privately, say to somebody in your home, you just flip the mic upwards and it mutes and you have privacy.
I can also confirm the noise cancelling is great, he cant hear me at all unless i scream at the top of my lungs.. and then only just lol. He loves them..
I am not the most techy type person but what i can say is these work with PS4 beautifully, they are comfortable to wear, great sound in gaming with background being ever so slightly quieter than chat (works well for my boy) he says it makes gaming very immersive but also great for communicating with his mates.
Overall i can say 5 out of 5, the boy is very very happy and that makes me happy, the product is amazingly well build and sturdy, also attractive minimalist in appearance, and every feature is working beautifully. Nothing less than i would expect from Sony.
Would very much recommend.
I have been using the Sony inzone H9 wireless Gamers headset for about 12 days now, and as these are the first gamers headset that I have tried and tested I was impressed. The inzones can connect to your PlayStation five and Windows PC using the provided USB A dongle, which has a selectable switch for either PlayStation orPC. They can also simultaneously connect to your smart phone by the headsets built in Bluetooth 5.0, So that you can receive calls whilst you are gaming. In the box you also receive A USB A to USB C charging cable which measures approximately 150 cm in length, and paperwork which includes your warranty, stickers etc. The H9 follows the PlayStations five premium build quality and colour scheme, Which I like as that’s what I’m using them with. I personally find they are comfortable to wear for a long time, because of their super plush ear and head cushions. The right ear cup of the headset has the power on and off button, Bluetooth button and the game/chat buttons. The Bluetooth button also acts as a play /pause with a single click when listening to music, and a double click will skip forward a track, whilst a triple click will skip back a track. The game/chat buttons allows you to change the volume, for instance click the chat button to make the game sound quieter and chat easier to hear. The left ear cup has The boom microphone, a USB C charging port with LED indicator, the ambient/Active noise cancellation button and lastly a scroll wheel to adjust the headsets main volume. The buttons on both ear cups are nicely spaced along with the volume scroll wheel, which makes them easy to access. The boom microphone has a soft click when flipped down or up, Which when flipped up mutes the microphone. Once again super convenient, also The microphone is flexible so can be adjusted when flipped down. I found with the microphone I could be heard nice and clearly when receiving and making calls, Which once again the Bluetooth button allows you to answer and end your call. The ambient and active noise cancellation work really well, So that you can be aware of your environment with ambient sound turned on, or isolate and immerse yourself even further into the game with active noise cancellation turned on from distractions. The ear cushions I personally find give a good seal which reduces sound leakage from the H9 headset to very minimal, so shouldn’t disturb others. The ear cups do also swivel so makes them easier to put on, and if you do decide to take them off for a while and place the headset around your neck it allows them to sit flat. The sound quality of the H9 I personally think is impressive especially with the 360 spatial audio, which gives you a multi directional listening experience for example hear someone speaking from your left or a helicopter hovering behind and above you whilst footsteps and gunfire comes from your right. The Inzone H9 is rated for 32 hours of battery life, a claim that closely lines up with my own testing. The H9 take three hours to fully charge from empty using a 20W charger, i’ve also had them plugged into the PlayStations USB port to charge them whilst I was still using them. The H9 are a simple plug and play device, as I didn’t have to do anything once I plugged the dongle into the rear of the PlayStation they automatically connected. The Bluetooth connects very quick and was also very easy to set up on my iPhone 12 pro. Overall very comfortable to wear, good battery life, great ambient and active noise cancellation, modern looking and impressive well-balanced sound with 360 spatial audio in my opinion. I hope you have found my video and review helpful.
Got these for my son. They must be good as I haven’t seen them off his head since he got them! Can be used on most consoles, specifically PS5, but can also be used on the PC. He seems to spend his life on his computer, and these are great for him to listen to audio on it, watch films etc or play his games. He has connected the headphones via bluetooth, using the dongle provided, and they connect easily. Whilst he has them on the bluetooth for the PC, they also connect on the bluetooth to his mobile phone, meaning he can interact with his friends online, but then pause them and answer calls on his mobile at the same time. The headphones are superb quality. Very sturdy, strong and comfortable. The earpads are soft and can be worn for long periods of time without becoming uncomfortable, and the sound quality is very good. They are noise cancelling and this obviously works as he never hears me shouting him when he has them on (so he says!) It does have a pull down microphone, which he doesn’t really use as he has a microphone attached to his desk, but he said it does work well as he’s tried it, and it moves up and out of the way easily. The battery is very good and lasts a long time, and the time to rechargeable is quick. Perfect for the gamers, especially the teenage ones!
Oh wow these are just awesome. Just one thing first though, these will only work via a pc or with a PlayStation 5. Which is a shame as we have a number of consoles we would have loved to try it these out on.
The headset is adjustable by the sliding band. I love the look of these headphones too they really do make you look extremely hi-tech with these on.
The sound quality is excellent, with no problems at all either transmitting or receiving. Even altering the volume I haven’t lost any quality.
Highly delighted.
Missing for myself mute button, You need put it up to stop or down to work.
For that range price would be nice to have headstand or something to put it on.
Mic is not amazing, it works but could be much better.
They are made most of high end gaming, 3D sound is amazing when playing games.
Feels like I’m inside game and can full enjoy what I’m doing in.
Tested it for heave bass boost on music and it works great also.
So even non gamer or just for chilling between playing is nice to have them.
Noise cancelling works good. They are comfortable comparing to other I have.
When they are on my ears, nothing else is around me.
Totally silence just what comes from them.
Video shows sound from one of house mix and look of it.
You can clearly hear it without wearing them, now imagine heaving it on.
They working good without installing any software but producer make sofare for it also.
There are several option to customise sound and hardware settings.
Headset can be used while charging that option more useful if You forget charge it after using.
They claim on full charge it will keep 32h, so even for extreme gamer that’s fair enough.
Personally reached 30h so far, so +- they have right. Will see if that not change over time.
After severals hours of using them, I don’t feel any discomfort, pain etc. on my ears.
Other information can be read from product description so in my opinion is pointless repeating it.
Now price, they are expensive headphones. You not buying them for kids playing roblox etc.
They are made for high end gaming, esports or casual gamers ho want to enjoy fully gameplay.
Husband is a keen gamer, and this is his first pair of proper gamer headphones (although I guess technically it’s a headset.)
They are perfect for playing both on a Playstation, and a PC but the sound quality is noticeably better when it’s being used with a Playstation – that probably makes sense, given it’s a Sony product?
They can be used connected by wire or with bluetooth, and we didn’t notice any quality difference there at all – there was zero lag with the bluetooth, and it connected instantly with no issues whatsoever.
It charges quickly: about 10 minutes of charging will give you over an hour of gameplay, which is brill. Thankfully, too, they are very comfortable – the ear pieces cup your ears snugly. Have you ever tried a weighted blanket? It’s kind of like that for your ears. Husband wore them for a good few hours and when he took them off he didn’t even have to rub the feeling back into his ears.
They have epic noise cancelling, too! As in, they work better at ambient noise cancelling than a pair of ear defenders we own. It’s pretty cool. I tried them just to see how quiet it is with them on and I reckon I’d be able to use them in the workshop over the sound of a drill. Daren’t, though, cos they’d get covered in dust.
Which brings us to the look of them… they’re lovely. They’re all white and ever so slightly futuristicky – people in the future will wear headsets like this. To be honest, they almost look more like something Apple would have created but Sony did it first.
They’re not cheap (at the time of writing they’re a quid under 270) but if you’re a serious gamer, I would think you’d be hard pressed to find something better. If you’re someone who plays for long periods of time, for comfort alone I reckon these are a steal.
Considering Sony has a lot of experience with headphones this should have been much better. I own a Sony WH1000 series so comparisons are inevitable and it is easy to hear where some of the technologies have been transferred but there are some incredible fails. I am a PC gamer so this is where the initial testing comes in however later in this review, I will talk about the experiences with a Sony PS5 as well.
Here are some pros and cons on my Intel i7 GTX1060 Windows 10 gaming PC
Pros:
Comfortable to wear even when wearing glasses
2.4Mhz wireless prevents lag
Bluetooth can be used simultaneously with wireless
Quality plastics
Light Weight
Battery life is approximately 30 hours depending on what features you have running.
Microphone quality good for in-game talk
The mix between talk and game volume can be changed
Moving the microphone boom up disables the mic
Active noise cancellation is good
Surround sound
Buttons are in logical positions
Cons:
Not worth the price
They are big
Equaliser does not work on the PC (Major Fail)
The sound quality is okay but not great! Fix the equalisation issue and this will change
(Nowhere near as good as my WH1000s)
Volume is not going to make your ears bleed
Ear cushions are not replaceable
2.4mhz only works with PC or PS5, not Xbox
No wired option
Volume control wheel is lost in the plastic lump it is embedded in and will be a dust collector
Plastic is less durable
Hot to wear because lacking ventilation
No Battery level indicator
Microphone quality is not good enough for web use (i.e. “Twitch” or YouTube)
The microphone is quiet even when set to maximum
Non-removeable microphone
The microphone is unacceptable for a headset of this price.
The photo option of the ear to improve virtual surround sound makes it worse.
I have a good friend who has a PS5 so I lent him the headset for a few days to get his view. Here are his thoughts:
Absolutely stunning 3D audio that’s fully immersive, it really brings gaming to life, however, its hard to warrant the price tag when the almost entry-level Sony Pulse 3D is available at less than a third of the price and still a great headset.
Pros
– Matching PS5 design
– Comfortable
– Rich Immersive Audio
– Easy Setup (Plug & Play)
– Flip to Mute Mic
– Noise Cancellation is great
– Long Battery Life
Cons
– Price Tag
– Quiet Audio Output from the microphone
– No EQ Adjustment for PS5
There are competitors out there that do this just as well and even better, for less money.
Pros
* Very comfy, even for long wearing time.
* Great noise canceling
* Perfect ambient Sound Mode
* You can also connect your smartphone via Bluetooth to enjoy calls whilst gaming
* Sound quality very good. Full mids, crisp highs, not overwhelming bass.
* Great battery life, also you’ll get up to an hour of emergency game time with just 10 minutes’ quick charging.
Cons
* Expensive.
Overall
Very pleased. For my needs, nothing ticks all of the boxes as well as this does. Very nice product, I am enjoying it.
What a great peace of kit. A little expensive but a quality construction and a cracking sound quality to boot. I had the Pulse 3D for my PS5 but the H9 out class them in every way. They can also work on PC. The dongle as a switch for PS5 and PC. Many thanks guys.
These Sony Inzone H9 headset has a great quality sound which I love. The design is perfect also my favourite colour with matte feels on the back. Best for gaming or just playing song that provides that smooth sound great for ears.
I love how chunky the cup is it is which fits perfectly in my ears and doesn’t ache even hours of using it. Its quiet expensive to compare with other brands but these provides lots of features. The built in microphone can’t be taken off but turns off when your pull up and comes back again when pulls down which gives you that flexibility and easy access. The buttons on side which does volume and noise cancellations are easy to find and click. Highly recommended for every gamers.
I am not a game player but it does not stop me loving this headphone. I am using it with my computer to give lessons to my students online. I love its white & black modern looking. It is lightweight and ultra comfortable to wear. The headband is nicely cushioned and nicely spread the weight acress the head. The faux leather ear pads are neither too soft nor too hard over the ears. The sound quality is amazingly clear. I could wear it for a couple of hours without feeling uncomfortable. I am still getting myself familiar with the positions of the function buttons.
Very good but Mike sounds tiny to my friends. Sound cancellation is off the charts
Sound is great but not better than my Astro A50’s with personalised audio settings I got off Internet,
Real downside is the audio adjust software isn’t available for mac so useless to me, such a bollock drop by Sony as loads of people have macs.
Battery is great.
Overall I’d probs give them 4 stars. They are Defiantly better than the pulse 3d but not sure that they’re better than astro A50’s although A50’s have a slight bleeping issue which is still unresolved. So hard choice, for me probs A50s
I’ve had these headphones for 5 days now, I will update the review if anything changes. I’ve not used headphones like this (wireless, noise cancelling) much before, so some of my few issues may be common or expected among them.
Battery: plenty long enough for me, charged it each morning for the first few days, but it doesn’t need near that much at my level of use as it turns out. The annoying thing is that I can’t check the battery level, even with the ‘INZONE Hub’ software you can download. It shows a battery symbol, and tells you if it’s low, but I would like a way to know the specific percentage.
Sound: of course lovely audio quality, but it sometimes takes half a second to start playing the audio of videos after starting them (which is what I have mostly used them for), even using the usb connection. It isn’t lag – it’s in sync, but it misses a short bit of sound. The volume is adjustable independently for different devices it’s connected to at once, which I like. I would have liked a pause button with the heapdones’ volume control, though that may not apply to the intended use of chatting and playing games. The game/chat buttons are neat, and work well, though if you want to use it for other things like music, then of course you have to make sure they’re outputting to the correct one.
Audio effects: The customisable sound profiles work nicely. I didn’t notice the difference at first, but now quite enjoy different settings for certain types of music. The dynamic range control isn’t for me, but it works well as far as I can tell, though it only has 3 options – High, Low, Off – so not as customisable as the sound profiles. As for the headline features of noise cancelling and ambient sound, they are both effective, though unnecessary for me – the thickness of the headphones blocks most of the noise I care about, though in louder environments I would definitely appreciate noise cancelling. At first it was difficult for me to tell which mode was activated very quickly – especially as both of those active modes produce a soft windy sound when in a quiet environment (not a harsh static, to be clear). I’m not sure it’s worth the extra money over the H7 for me. Spatial sound just sounds quiet and muffled to me, whether playing games as intended, listening to music, or watching videos. Perhaps I’m using it in the wrong way, or it would work better if I took photos of my ears, as they ask you to do for a personal profile, but I do not want to do that. I’ll probably try it again at some point, with a more modern game than I did already.
Microphone: Good audio quality (as much as one would expect), nicely adjustable. The option for ‘sidetone,’ playing your voice through the headphones as you speak is strange to me, though if you make more use of the noise cancelling it might make sense. The volume is adjustable from off to what is about normal when not wearing headphones, and I can’t detect any significant lag in it. I’ve not had much chance to test the auto gain control, but I joined a meeting without adjusting the mic volume from max, and nobody mentioned it was too loud. I would guess it works well.
Misc: they’re physically very comfortable to wear for hours on end, you can slide them off and turn them to rest on your neck comfortably as well (the cups can rotate as smoothly as much as they need to). The lights sometimes confused me – it was difficult to tell what bluetooth mode I was in when syncing my second device, and sometimes it just blinks without me knowing why. The bluetooth connection is solid from opposite corners of my house, though the usb is not as strong. The connect and disconnect sounds are loud, which makes sense, though it’s a bit annoying when walking away from the usb device, when it disconnects and reconnects. I’m a fan of the overall design, and I know they match with a PS5, though I do not have one.
Really impressed with this Sony INZONE H9 noise cancelling headsets. Was very easy to connect to Bluetooth and they feel soft and comfortable when worn for long periods of time. The headset is wireless and has excellent sound quality and battery lasts for hours without charging. This is perfect for gaming, meetings and calls. The quality is excellent and love the sleek design.
These are excellent quality headphones.
Ideal to use while gaming.
Inbuilt microphone ideal for online gaming.
Has noise cancelling which means that you can immerse yourself during game play.
Brilliant sound quality.
Very comfortable to wear (with cushioned headband) and they are very light while wearing.
A great setting that the headphones have is you can change the volume between the game and the online chat so you can hear everything perfectly.
Wireless headphones which connect to your PC/PS5 straight away with no connection/fall out issues.
Brilliant battery life (lasts upto 32hrs)
The only issue I had was that you need to install the inzone hub from Sony website to get all the settings for the headphones (i.e. I was getting an echo when using the mic but was resolved when I downloaded this).
Fantastic value for money
Would highly recommend
So, after some time with the H9 I can conclude it’s a decent headset with some caveats.
Build ad design wise it is every bit the premium flagship Sony PS5 tie in. The colourway and plastics tie seamlessly and give it an almost futuristic air. I like the subtle lighting and the headset design makes it comfortable to wear. The forks on the earcups and the general design should mean its both fitting and comfortable for a wide range of head shapes.
Its not all PS5 though, tieing their renewed pivot to PC this headset is aimed squarely at PC and or PS5 through the inclusion of a receiver dongle that can switch between both. It also has Bluetooth for what it is calling a simultaneous connect so you can take a call and still be immersed in your game I guess.
The right earcup houses power, Bluetooth and chat buttons and over on the left a usb c charging port, an ambient sound button and a wheel for volume control.
The cups feature soft leather pads much like Sony’s premium range and the mic boom has flip[ to mute and can be rotated out the way.
This headset has Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and it does a great job, as it should with Sony leading the market on high end ANC headesets. It works well but by comparison I found my Bose headset slightly better.
Pairing and setup is very straight forward and so in to the listening. For a console its is perfect, the spatial audio works well in game that support it and depth and range were great and is very immersive.
Battery life should easily see you hit around 30 hrs depending on volume levels etc
Configuring the headset through the PS5 is fine and there is a companion app for windows/mac to do the same. I would describe that app as functional.
Overall a solid headset with a number of great features. I do wonder about the longevity of the plastic build and the pc app is a bit more basic than I would like but the fact they are even designing for pc upfront now clearly shows they are pivoting towards a cloud based service or releasing more titles on pc following xbox success with gamepass.
I ordered these because of the noise cancelling effect. I will not be able to try that out properly for a few months yet. However, I put these through their paces by playing: PINK FLOYD – Dogs (2011 remaster), MIKE OLDFIELD- Incantations (2011 remaster), JEAN MICHEL JARRE – Oxygene (remaster). All of these sounded fabulous but the greatest surprise was the sound quality of an Amazon advert… I wasn’t expecting it to be STUNNING AND SPACIOUS.
Wireless connection from an Android. Linked within seconds.
Very lightweight for the size.
