Wow! Set my cameras up and couldn’t believe how good quality they are! The site to set them up is easy to use as I was expecting to be battling with instructions but very easy even for me. The picture quality is also amazing, for a small, non expensive security piece I would highly recommend these cameras, you’ll be as shocked how good they are.

I was dreading setting this up cuz I’m not very technical but it was sooo easy. I had difficulty with one setting and their customer support was very helpful and even when I didn’t understand how, they sent me pictures that I could easily follow. They even gave me a warranty in case I have future issues.
Great product and service!

Overall, very satisfied with the camera. Was a little tricky to operate. Not very Descriptions in the user manual. Once operating the system properly had better results. The picture quality is grainy on SD Channel. The HD channel has alot better quality of picture and video. Direct video is glitchy at time’s and freezes for 30 seconds when moving objects. Is Easy installation given the diverse location of installation. With 1 hours worth of Direct sunlight on the solar panel will fully charge the battery and maintain full charge continuously. My olny Concern is what temperature the battery can withstand. Overall still satisfied with this product. But somethings aren’t covered on the warranty in Canada.
Firstly, I want to say that the customer service is excellent. I was really impressed. I bought these cameras as backups to my current camera system as I had blind spots, and only recently installed 3 of them. Overall so far these cameras are very well built, easy to install and the picture quality is surprising superb. I’m extremely happy with my purchase, and may even buy a few more to install at another property. I’ve installed SD cards rather than pay for cloud service on each camera. My only criticism is that the motion sensor triggers are not immediate (takes a bit before I get notifications) and I cannot control a specific “grid” for which I’d like alert triggers. Also sometimes when I know there was activity in a specific area (I know this from my other cameras), I do not always get a notification. That said though, it’s an excellent product for the money. Honestly, better than I expected!

The construction of the cameras seems to be quality. I could have been happier with the camera is far as its ability to detect and alert in a timely fashion. The video quality and night vision works very well.
When I reached out to the company to have my concerns addressed, I was fortunate enough to have Kiki as my customer service representative.
I would have given her 10 stars on a five star review lol.
seriously, though, Excellent customer service. The response time to each of my messages was almost immediate.
Her willingness and commitment to resolve my concerns was second to none.
I give props to the company for their five star customer service.
Overall a great camera for the money.

I didn’t want to spend $1k to monitor my property, and I did want P/T/Z. They pick up well and respond decent. I saved about $700 vs the competition and I’m very pleased with the product. The company reaches out and puts a extended warranty and that’s always appreciated. Would recommend.
Perfect fit for my home security needs. Night vison is very clear, motion detection works great, and the notifications to my mobile app are always on type and keep me in the know of what is going on at my home even when I am away. I am very pleased with this product. HIGHLY recommend! Kiki, a customer service agent reached out to me via email confirming that the product was working well and to be sure that I was satisfied with my purchase. I am getting a complimentary random camera for my response. Customer service was very professional, friendly and helpful!
einfache Einbindung ins W-Lan Netzwerk , super Wetterfest Schnee , Eis , Hagel , Starkregen mit und ohne Sturm . Bedienung ber App klappt klasse . Super schnelle Lieferung , gutes Preis-Leistungsverhltnis .

This camera is AWESOME…. You will NOT be disappointed with the price, quality, and value that you get. The price is spot on. As most cameras the housing is plastic but is well built and has good rubber seals for the power switch and solar connection. The quality of the camera pictures and video is excellent. You can move the camera in any direction and even zoom in/out. The night vision and the audio conversations with anyone on site where the camera is has no issues. We have the Big Brother to this camera that runs on cellular service and there is NO difference on quality or performance between the two. Multiple pictures show day pictures with the camera. One is looking at a blue home which is about 1/4 mile away. there is a picture at night at the end. During the winter with snow the batteries held well with limited daylight. Excellent product.
Surveillance de la maison. Qualit d’image trs bonne. Facile a paramtrer. La camra de surveillance idale. Service client au top. Merci a Kiki
Good product, I use two of them for the house.
you are always sceptcical when buying cameras off the internet but these solar cameras came out to be super! pricewise and quality is top. especially in nightmode. the picture is very clear. The speaker is very loud too. we installed them in a large field and they can be heard from a good distance.
The app could be improved:
– Integration with google home
– ability to select which is the primary between cloud and card. In the viewing page i always have to click card to view the recordings.
– PTZ functionality. rotates and records
– ability to send picture via email of intrusion.
otherwise im very happy and will re purchase more
Overall, this is a good camera for the price. After fully charging it, setup was easy while following the instruction book and in-app directions. I had it connected to the 2.4G band of my wifi and up and running within minutes. It has a voice prompt that alerts you to the progress and status. Once mounted and connected to the solar panel, I took about an hour to play with it and get used to the app. I found it easy to figure out and configure to my needs. This is for a lake cabin that is not constantly occupied. The purpose is to keep an eye on the boat, snow depth, wildlife, etc.
I elected to not subscribe to the available cloud service. Instead, I installed a 128G micro SD card. It is basically the same thing, but without a monthly fee.
The live view works great overall, and the PTZ is excellent. Picture quality and color is excellent, both in SD and HD. Sound quality is good. Two-way voice works as intended, and the night spotlight is very bright. Night vision works very good for the coverage area I need. The motion detection has 3 settings, low, medium, and high. Notifications come through to the phone quickly.
I have two minor complaints- 1, I’m not a big fan of how the camera mounts, it is mounted whole, there is not a separate mount that screws to the wall, then the camera connects to it so the camera can easily be removed and put back up, as is the case with many similar cams on the market. The entire thing must be removed in the event it needs to be taken down for any reason. 2, build quality could be better. Maybe mine was just a fluke, but one of the antennas broke off when I was folding them into position. I was able to drill a hole in it and put a screw through it, remounting it to the camera body. It seems to be working fine so far, but time will tell For these two minor complaints, I reduced my review by one star.
So far this unit is holding up well in the cold Minnesota winter, the solar panel is keeping it charged and operational so far, despite some single digit and lower overnight temps. I can’t yet report on long term reliability, but so far so good. I’ll update this review if anything comes up.
Die Kamera tut was sie soll. Funktioniert ohne Probleme.
his item does what it say it does. enjoy the viewing mode (zoom in/out) clear and precise. Night vision and security light placed at the right angle it covers area wells. speaker must have; as sometimes my dog attempts to cross the street and I can track him on the CS and turn micro phone on and let him know not to try it. Audio is great with volume control. Set up – follow instructions—-Overall a great product; and yes if you think you need this item get it, you won’t be disappointed (make sure you have good Wifi/and access to sunlight/sunrays to keep your battery charged.
Gracias a sus explicaciones he decidido comprar 4 camaras mas.
I actually purchased six of these cameras. They were fairly easy to install and my daughter who installed them absolutely loved the templates that were included for mounting the base plates. I like the fact they have 360 degree rotation so I can see everything. Kiki in customer service has been absolutely awesome to work with while setting up my cloud based storage. Definitely would recommend!
Dommage
I found that I received good and consistent help from Customer Service and Kiki was of good help to me.
Good quality twin pack of cameras with night vision and security light built in,
Easy to connect to WiFi just make sure you have a strong signal and the piece of mind with the extra tf card slot.
Not a bad camera for the price. A few tweaks (possibly software/firmware updates): There is no motion mask. When it is windy, bushes will set it off. Also need to be able to adjust the length of the recordings. If I have it pause for 15s between recordings, the recording length automatically defaults to 10s. When I turn that delay off, they are 5s. When you have a neighbor harassing your dogs, sometimes you need longer than 5-10 seconds. Picture isn’t terrible, but can be a bit grainy and sometimes hard to make out specifics, but some of it will depend on your WiFi signal. If your WiFi makes it out far enough, you can use these at a pretty decent range. I’m on a 2.5 acre lot with house almost at the completely opposite end of the camera locations.
After doing some research on solar powered CCTV decided to order the Xega ones, must say ease of use and quality is excellent. Kiki on customer support was great too!
Cela mritait d’tre signal.
Very good value for the money. the battery indicator says fully charged even though the days are short. very easy to link to the mobile app. great service from Kiki at Ubia.
These cameras are uast to set up with no wiring needed. The night visionand quality are very good and am happy about the
Xega Solar Security Camera is an extremely well built product at a very reasonable purchase price.Highly recommend so so easy to install& does exactly what it says on the tin.5* ++ rating.
This Xega camera is solar operated you have to make sure during the day it gets good light so you be assured during the night it will work fine, the picture quality and night vision is very good. Overall I am happy with it.
First off, this camera produces good quality images, and the remote control of PTZ functions works very well. It connects to wifi easily, and it’s easy to install as it doesn’t need any wiring.
Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to set the motion detection up properly, as it tends to produce false alarms during the day if it’s set up properly for night use, and fails to detect at night when set up properly for daytime. This is a significant issue, but might be fixed with a future firmware update. The other issue is the battery life isn’t great. I suppose that getting a solar-powered unit in the UK in autumn isn’t givin git the best chance, but I think that in winter it will be very difficult for it to charge effectively.
Fantastic little HD camera
Easy set up
Wifi connected
Solar with no wiring
Very good detection
Has been in use for over a week very happy
Would recommend to anyone, connects to your phone via APP and all the notifications come through to this
Amazing camera, well made! Great vision day and night!! Clear picture and easy to set up ! Highly recommend
The Xega RBX-S50 is an outdoor security camera with full control via a wireless connection. It is powered by an internal lithium battery that can be charged with the included solar panel. The lens mount is motorized, giving remote control of horizontal and vertical movements, as well as zooming in and out.
The integrated power source gives a degree of independence regarding siting the camera. I put our sample on a post in the garden, quite high up, and pointed at the lawn to record wildlife, particularly at night. The plastic mount is easily attached using the supplied screws. Masonry will require the use of a drill and wall plugs (preferably better ones than the cheap examples in the kit). The solar panel I mounted in a similar way below the camera, adjusted with the swivel mount to face slightly upwards, to harvest as much sunlight as possible. It could be sited remotely from the camera. The 3-metre lead gives a lot of flexibility in this regard. It plugs into a USB-C socket under the unit. An alternative power source could possibly be used if sunlight is in short supply, but the body of the plug is a little undersized, and the socket surrounded by rubber to keep out damp, so a suitable lead will be needed.
Before all of that, the first job is to connect the camera to the home WiFi and to download the Ubox app to a smartphone. It’s fairly standard for this type of device. I would have liked to have used the camera via the PC, but it doesn’t support Windows. The only option is to use the Android app in an emulator, or possibly to use a multi-make camera Windows program. This will require some knowledge and effort, and the camera may need to be set up on the maker’s app first to obtain the details needed.
The camera can be set up using either a sound signal or a QR code. I ran into problems with the former, but the QR code worked straight away. The instruction book has clearly had some effort put into it, but some of the English is hard to follow.
The camera has all of the typical features as detailed in the listing. The app is quite easy to navigate, but not perfect. Recordings can be viewed after a short connection delay. They can be stored on an SD card in the camera, or in the Cloud (subscription needed after free trial). The recording quality is very satisfactory, and I found this camera to be capable generally. I am still trying to set recordings longer than a few seconds, and the battery does not last the night at this time of year. it might do better in a security setting, where is is triggered and accessed less frequently.
Update: 7/11/22 Customer Service
I was pleased to receive an email from Kiki from the XEGA support team to enquire whether the camera was still working well, and to offer me a free three-year warranty.
The camera is still working well-within the limitations of the solar energy available at this time of year-and showing little evidence of exposure to the elements.
I already have several security cameras which run off of the mains via a hole drilled through the wall but I wanted a camera at the back of our house and the only mounting place that works for the correct area for capture is away from any power source so I needed a fully wire free camera, since this one came complete with a solar panel which will cut down on the amount of recharges needed I ordered it.
On opening, this security camera kit comes with everything required to install it to a wall, post or fence. The main camera is a separate unit from the solar panel so if the camera is shaded then the solar panel can still be positioned towards the sun on its own mount, a small cable then connects the two units.
The build quality of this is about average so I would put this into the area of being a budget camera, that said this is waterproof so it can be used all year round, I can’t comment on the value for money as this is listed as unavailable at the time of writing.
I would recommend a full charge via the USB cable before fitting it and setting it up, then the solar panel should help to maintain the battery level depending on the position it is facing and the amount of sunny days. I did find that the solar panel wasn’t working at all on overcast days so a lot will depend on where you live and if it’s south facing.
Once the camera has been powered on, it can be paired and setup in the free app which can be downloaded to a smart device. I had no problems at all in pairing this although I did this before taking the camera outside for mounting so it was close to my router and phone, this is the way I would recommend doing it.
Being as this is a battery powered camera a lot of the normal options are not available that would come as standard on a mains unit, most of these are to prolong the length of time between charges. The main feature that isn’t available on a battery camera is the ability to have constant recordings which is understandable as it would drain the power quite quickly. The recordings on this are all done from the motion sensor which when triggered will start the recording for a set amount of time. The motion and recording times as well as several other options are all accessed from within the app.
I always prefer to record locally rather than to the cloud so I fitted a 128gb SD card and formatted it ready for use, if required this does have the option for cloud recording at a small monthly cost.
As this is a PTZ camera it has the ability to be panned and tilted into any useful direction all from the smart device, the picture can also be zoomed but I find that the quality drops so it’s not something that I would normally use.
Overall, this is a very nice budget security camera kit with the added bonus of including a solar panel, hence reducing the amount of recharges so when comparing prices this does need to be taken into account. The HD picture is at 1080p and streams via 2.4ghz wifi without t0o many hiccups, this will depend on the router setup of coarse. Along with a pretty decent daytime picture this also has an automatic night mode using infrared which again is clear enough to be able to make out features for identification should the need arise, I found this far better than some other budget cameras that I have used which at night all I could see was what looked like blurry ghosts, lol.
If you can’t run mains power or just need the convenience of a cable free option then you can’t go too far wrong with this set, I will say though, that a mains option is always the best way to go if at all possible.
As technology moves on so everything is getting smaller and more energy efficient.
Here is a Camera, with voice that can be controlled remotely and all is powered by a small solar panel!
The package comes a with everything you will need to setup the device and the solar panel.
The camera itself looks pretty solid, and its base looks like it will hold out for a while. The camera has fittings for 2 different screw placements. Ideally you will use all the screw points, but many times the camera is in a an awkward spot.
The Solar Panel is fitted separately with an arm that is about 10cm long, this does feel a little short and I found myself almost trying to negotiate where I would place it so I could get better light. The arm is long enough to position the solar panel, but not long enough that if the is anything slightly in the way it cannot bypass.
Connecting: This was a lot more effort than it should be, I kept getting an internet unstable error, turns out it wants to get out onto the internet before it will make the connection. Once I had figured that out, it then was a real effort to arrange it to push my wifi details to the device. What took 15 minutes should not have take 5min.
NOTE: this device will only connect on a 2.4Ghz network, if you only have a 5G network you not be able to complete the setup. A mixed network 2.4/5, is fine as it will select the appropriate connection
Use: In terms of use I am quite happy. The picture quality is pretty decent, and I can tell quite clearly what’s going on in a picture.
Everything is controlled from an app. ONLY Android and Apple, so no PC software. This is a pretty limiting step, and while I know this is common, it would be nice to easily connect it to a laptop or desktop.
The App itself, once connected, is fine. You select the device and once in I have the option to move the camera, enable volume, talk over the mic, record video or take a picture. You can also zoom in on an image, which is pretty much the software making the picture bigger and not actually zooming in.
From the App I was also able to change between lamp and infrared, meaning at night if something is detected it will either light up the area with its build in lamp, or it can highlight it only with IR.
Personally I selected IR since it would hopefully be more energy efficient and not alert anyone sneaking around who shouldn’t.
In terms of storage you can either insert your own micro SD or subscribe to their cloud service. I have a micro SD so that what I am using. I also notice that if I take a photo or video it gets saved on my phone and pushed to google photo storage.
I have had no problems with connection, and that’s good. That said I have not tested how far away I can be with the device before it starts to fail. Though with 2.4Ghz while data transfer will be lower speedwise, it is supposed to be better on range.
Short: Looks Solid, setup could be easier, works really well and lots of control.
This camera looks and feels good quality. It was relatively easy to set up although I found the instructions a bit confusing at times. I had no issues connecting the camera up. I love the fact that this camera is solar powered. The image quality is very good.
I was really quite surprised at how clear the image is with this camera, there isn’t much difference in picture quality compared with a hardwired camera in my opinion.
I’ve got 2 ring flood light cameras and they aren’t much better than this to be honest yet the cost considerably more and I had to hardwire them in which took up quite a bit of time, so based on the picture quality and ease of install this is definitely very good value for the money.
Setup in straightforward enough, as with most tech like this now you simply scan the QR code which takes you to the app and follow the setup instructions.
The beauty of this camera is also it’s potential downfall though, you can install this pretty much anywhere that gets reasonable sunlight, however, you also need wifi so if you have a large garden or weak wifi signal this probably wont work at the bottom of the garden.
I really like that you can control the cameras viewing angle from your phone, it makes adjustment so much easier than having to get the ladders out to reposition like I do with my ring cameras and the two way audio is really quite clear (again this depends on wifi strength though).
All in all this is a really good camera for the money in my opinion.
Solar powered, so you don’t need to run mains to it, fantastic, at least at this time of year, September, the battery is lasting well…. we’ll see how things are January/December…
WiFi is working fine, but it’s not too far from the house, so I wouldn’t have expected range to be an issue.
Night vision, the image is fine in SD & very good in HD, the little night vision lights having a good range. There’s also a little floodlight you can switch to & it’ll bring the picture back to full colour. Pan & scan work nicely via controls in the app, lagging by maybe a second.
Daytime image is also good, HD again edging it for clarity.
You can add a micro SD card, up to 128GB, for recording, it’ll store around 10 secs after each time motion is detected. There’s also the option for cloud storage, a 30 day free trial is included. I’ve not looked into the ongoing price as yet, as I’m still within my 30 days.
So far, everything is very impressive.
I do have two improvements, the 1st is motion detection, you can adjust this within the app, but like other cams I’ve tried, you need a different setting during daylight hours & night vision. Set to high, you’ll get false alerts all day, set to medium is much better, but you’ll need to be trying hard to activate it when it’s in night vision. You need high at night & medium during the day, this could easily & should be, added to the app.
Other issue, smart integration. You can watch this on the app &…..that’s it. The Ubox app does connect to Alexa, but it doesn’t do anything, it seems to have been abandoned. All the reviews for it are one star. Admittedly, it doesn’t claim on the packaging or listing that it can, should or will work with Amazon or Google, but I’d like to be able to ask my echo show to display the feed from the camera, rather than the only option being the app on my phone.
A very good unit, solar is great, just those two improvements needed to shift this up to excellent.
This outdoor security camera from Xega, is of good quality and feels robust and sturdy when secured in place.
We have fixed this in the edge of our woods high up a tree, to keep an eye on the pigs since there is always the stray, or the odd person who is too inquisitive.
The Solar Power charging makes this possible and we have also a bank of mobile chargers to boost, should the weather be too overcast for a good charge.
I love that I can speak to anyone I see nearby, that shouldn’t be there. They don’t usually call again
The App is basic but functional.
There is a good tilt to allow me to see all around the wood.
Obviously, wifi is required and this we have in place in a small office close by.
Night vision is very good. It’s also interesting to see the nightlife, that wander around the wood. Fascinating in fact.
Definitely a good buy

This is very pretty looking camera and on first look it seems be well designed. It’s body is sturdy and protected from weather conditions.
Camera comes with solar panel which meant to charge the camera. The panel looks typical and is good quality. I was pleased to find out that this camera is powered by usb type C cable connection. Micro usb ports are less popular now. Camera should be charged from main before installing outdoors to make sure it has enough power to set it up and to extend its battery life.
The camera will require an app to download. App is called UBox App. Through this app we set everything up, as it will show us step by step. Once set up, we can customise other settings the way we want.
The manual instruction book is nicely written, with details and images so it helps a lot. App is easy to set up and customise the settings. I don’t think you will struggle with it.
There is also separate instruction how to install but more details we can get by scaning QR code on that installation leaflet.
This camera can be installed to ceiling like surface or to the wall. There are both options available on the cameras back bracket. This camera has its weight so I rather recomend to drill the holes on the wall to screw in this camera into, rather than sticking it by tape. It’s more safe and secure this way.
Solar panel has 3m long cable so I suggest finding good sunny place for it. Camera can be like 2.5m away, that’s not a problem, as long the solar panel gets enough sun light to charge the camera. Bare in mind that during winter there is less sun and days are shorter. So I will install my camera somewhere near the window upstairs so if battery gets low I would be able to connect long cable and charge it from main. I don’t want to unscrew the camera from the wall for the charge so the cable placed through the window should be good enough. I don’t fully trust this technology and I know that one day it may stop charging (foggy day, rainy day, etc) so back up from main power will be essential.
Camera supports SD card which is not included but if someone already has Cloud subscription, this can be used for this camera instead of SD card. I’m going to put SD card any way.
Quality picture is good, even at night. Camera can be set to record only during certain times. For example from 9pm-12am or whenever suits us. For the remaining times camera will not react to movement. We don’t need to use this option, that’s just suggestion to save the battery. Sensor is sensitive and sometimes records even bird flying around so every camera activation uses battery to record and save the recordings.
All in all, this camera has good potential and I like that it uses sun light to get the energy. Even if I still will need to occasionally charge it from main power plug, I think it still worth to have this camera. It’s good quality and the battery inside is quite capacious so hopefully it will not let me down any time soon.
This is a really easy to use solar security camera that provides an excellent image quality in both day and night mode.
Because it’s solar powered it means you don’t have to worry about wiring it up. Just plug the solar panel into the camera and it will keep the internal camera battery juiced up.
The camera is very easy to set up via the app and it provides easy to follow instructions on how to connect to your WiFi etc.
once connected you going full access to the cameras settings like image quality, notifications, PTZ control etc.
overall this Is a very good camera for the price.
The camera arrived in a nicely presented box complete with charge cable, instructions, mounting bracket and accessories, plus solar panel
It’s a really solidly made camera with excellent build quality and finish. It has a fair amount of weight to it. Not plasticky at all.
PROS:
1. Camera looks sturdy and well built.
2. Clear concise fitting instructions and easy to mount as everything required was supplied.
3. Instructions on how to download the App were clear, and had no problems in the basic set up between camera and App.
4. Wifi set up was straight forward and Camera indicated a good signal strength even though it was some distance from the router.
5. The basic operation of the Camera was self-explanatory using the App (PZT controls).
6. Received video images for both day and night were of very good quality, found SD to be good enough for my needs. Night mode does give far better quality during hours of darkness but this appears to have to be switched on manually.
7. The Solar panel appears to keep the battery charged sufficiently but it is positioned in an ideal spot, ie south facing and getting the sun all day. Not sure it would be able to do so if it was positioned in such less favourable spot.
8.Solar cable is long around 3 metres so gives more scope for positioning.
9.Takes up to 128 gb Sd card.
10. Option for iCloud storage at cost.
11. Spot lights works well at night and is in colour
CONS:
1.The lack of detail on all the variables within the menu functions.
2.There is no detailed User guide for the App supplied (especially for the inexperienced user) and searching the web has come up with nothing. A Youtube video did mention and briefly show a detailed App user guide but I have not been able to locate one. So, a lot of settings have had to be by trial and error, and even now I don’t know what all the options do.
3.LED light has to be switched on manually, haven’t been able to find a setting where it comes on at night when activity is detected. (this may be able to be enabled if one knew where to look in the options)
4.No Onvif (Open network video interface forum) compatibility so can’t be used with my NVR ( network video recorder). It does state this in the description to be fair.
5.The App has been very unreliable in sending notifications to an Andriod device. Not sure if it is just an issue with that platform.
Some days I get notifications of all activity others nothing, and this is without changing any of the settings.
It does record all activity so it can be viewed later it’s just seems the Andriod device does not always show notifications.
6.Comparing another I reviewed recently ,unless some more information can be provided on using some of the functions of the app I would definitely go for that even though it does not have the Solar charging convenience because:-
a. reliability of the notifications.
b. the fact the LED light comes on with night time activity.
c.The App is far easier to use.
At the price (84.99 at the time of the review) having reviewed several solar powered cameras with a much higher price tag I think it represents reasonable value. It’s solidly built and has very good HD picture quality.
If the lack of information for the new user can be resolved it is worth considering, as it has a lot going for it.
Although that said this may not be such an issue for the experienced user.
But if you can live without the convenience of Solar power and the energy saving advantage that is offered there are better ones available at the moment (including the app they use).
As this camera has a solar charging it doesn’t require any power support from the mains which means it’s simple to install and will only require some drilling. The instruction manual is quite simple to follow, and it includes bar codes to video support of all the main steps from installation to Wi-Fi connectivity.
The camera comes with all the stuff needed for installation. The main thing is that the camera needs to have a decent wifi connectivity and as my router’s wifi signals were a bit weak I have installed an additional WIFI range extender to support it. Video performance has since improved.
The night vision gives a clear view although like most other cameras the recording turns black and white. The camera has a zoom option which give a clear view. The camera allow storage on a memory card to be installed on the camera or the cloud storage option however that needs to be subscribed.
At this price the quality is decent and so far it’s delivering, so overall a good camera.
An external solar powered camera, suitable for erecting on and keeping an eye on your property, especially outside.
The camera allows you to connect via 2.4 GHz WiFi, it’s solar powered via a separate solar panel, with 3M cable, so it can be located away from where you need the camera located, this way you can locate the panel to get the maximum sunlight that it needs. It has a pan and tilt 355deg view, a spotlight, PIR motion sensor, super HD night vision, and compatible with 2 way talking, it’s also up to IP65 waterproof.
Please be mindful though, that you need to erect it where it will receive maximum sunlight, to keep it charged and give it enough power to function, even in the winter.
The camera is operated via the “UBox” app, and comes with Cloud and Micro SD Card secure storage and remote access. It supports up to a 128GB SD card, although this is not included, which is a pity, but they are cheap enough these days, which always makes me wonder why they don’t include one, maybe it’s to make you buy the cloud storage.
You can also charge it via USB, especially handy for the winter months, when the sun may not be strong enough to fully charge the camera.
I wanted this camera to keep an eye on my garden area, as it’s difficult to locate power cables out to an external wall, without drilling large holes, this solar setup hopefully is the answer, if our winters allow it to keep a decent enough charge. I have a garden that faces east/west, so it can track the sun all day, and I believe it will charge even on the cloudiest days. I will report back, now that summer seems to have ended, and let you know whether the batteries get enough charge. But as stated, you do have the option of USB charging, either from a power bank, or other mobile source, but I’ll be able to update as winter arrives.
The camera and panel were easy to fit with the the supplied screws, and connected effortlessly to my Wi-Fi, I didn’t have to turn off my 5 GHz setup for this to happen.
The camera is easy to operate, via the app on your phone or pad, even from afar.
A great solidly built piece of kit, that hopefully will be as reliable as it looks.
I’m happy to recommend.
I needed a solar-powered CCTV camera for the front of the house. I wanted a simple solar-powered CCTV system for ease of installation. This product caught my attention with its high-capacity lithium-ion battery and specifications.
The instructions were easy to follow and the box consisted of a solar panel, CCTV camera, and fixtures. The camera unit is made to a good standard and feels good and looks good. It gives a surprisingly crystal sharp clear color image which surpassed my expectations. The multi-direction remote-controlled camera is awesome and the zooming-in gives very respectable image results. The inbuilt lithium-ion battery has a 14400mAh capacity is very large for a CCTV. I found it easy to slot in my own large micro sd card and to plug in the solar panels USB-C plug. The templates for sticking on the wall helped me to drill accurate holes.
The solar panel is lightweight, easy to install, and charged the CCTV camera nicely.
I found it nice and simple to follow the instructions to Bluetooth to the camera and be up and running in moments.
I found the detection too sensitive so I switched it to low function via the settings wheel. Now, only movement near the camera will alert me. I like how when I check the camera, it can still give a color image when the LED lights switch on as I view. . I could also change over to infrared view too. Scrolling through the on-screen menu settings was simple and having a look to see if I need anything else adjusting. The 1080p HD image as you can in the gallery photos is sharp and the zoom and directional on-screen arrows pad worked nice and felt good with very little lag.
The two CCTV WiFi antennas picked up my WiFi signal very well and maintained a strong signal.
I like how I get alerts and can press the microphone button to speak to the courier, friends, or postman when I’m out.
I can take screenshots and videos via the features on the screen.
I felt at home with this CCTV system so quickly and have already shared the app. with my family members so they can also have access to the camera.
This product represents excellent value for money and I highly recommend it for extra security for your home. You can buy extra units and add more to your app.
I was pleasantly surprised by this security camera. Given that it’s powered only on solar power, it works remarkably well.
Taking the camera out of the box, I noticed it had a good weight to it and felt pretty good quality. Set up was straightforward – the instructions manual has a QR code which you can scan to download the app. Simply register an account and then the app will search for the camera. Then it’s time to put the camera into your desired position.
The camera comes with the screws and plates required to drill it in but I’m lazy so I used Gorilla tape. If you haven’t used that stuff, it’s time to get to know It’s a double sided tape which permanently grips both inside and outside. I’ve used it to hang solar lights, camera doorbells and now this camera with no issue and with total peace of mind. Wait… I’m supposed to be reviewing the camera…
Anyway, the picture quality is really great for a solar powered device. I’m sure you could get better picture quality from other cameras but then you’d be looking at paying a lot more and it would probably need to be wired in. It depends what you’re looking for really but this camera is great for our needs. We have a summer house in the garden so we’re using it to watch for any potential intruders.
There is a monthly subscription that you’ll need if you want to automatically record footage. You’ll also need an SD card for storage. Without the above though, you can view the feed and manually press record if you see anything going on. The camera will send a notification to your phone if it detects movement which is a handy feature. It is super sensitive though and has been picking up the tree blowing in the wind a lot. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection feature if you wish though.
Overall, super pleased with this device and happy to recommend
The camera arrived well packaged and all parts were present.
To get started you need to download the Ubox app which enables the camera to go live.
I positioned in my back garden to optimise the solar panel especially coming up to autumn now so fingers crossed the solar panel soaks up all available sunlight.
The camera can be put in any position desired to cover your needs. Mine captures the whole garden which is what I wanted.
Picture quality is great even at night and to make sure you optimise its potential I recommend buying an SD card to capture any moments you require.
I wasn’t expecting too much for the price to be honest but I have to say it’s comparable with higher end units like my ring doorbell camera.
Easy to set up easy to use and a must have for peace of mind.
This camera has everything you could need for keep an eye on certain areas of your home and some great features.
The main camera module is a good size and well made with a strong mounting bracket on the back that can be mounted in two different ways but I do recommend the larger area against the wall as this gives far better stability and you need that for windy days and to allow the camera to pan and tilt smoothly.
The camera is best placed high up so it can look downwards and that gives it the best pan and tilt range which to keep an eye on my garden (when I don’t have any windows facing out on it) I have found it perfect for when I just want to check on it. I wouldn’t rely on it as a security system style camera although it can do it I think more expensive cameras are better for that but the motion detection is good and the light comes on at night to light up the area very well.
The app works well and does give good images while the pan/tilt is easy to move but it would be a little better if it could work with Alexa as well to view the camera footage.
The solar panel is really nice and sleek with a super thin panel and a wall mount for it and the cable is a good long 3m cable which has the modern universal USB-C connection to put into the main camera module under the rubber waterproof covers and the solar panel if you angle it right and in an area with good day/sun light you will never have to charge the camera at all (it does have a normal USB to USB-C power cable in case you want to charge it without the solar panel).
Overall, for only 49.99 I think you get a lot of camera for the money with some good features and the solar panel especially makes it pretty much maintenance free.
This is a great camera. The set up was easy on my phone which is android.
Once the app was on my phone and I had linked it to the camera my husband put the camera out on the shed to look out over my bee hives. I couldn’t belive how clear the picture is.
We have put the solar panel out to one side to pick up the most sun.
Great idea and so far is working perfectly.

This is a well-made full Wi-Fi Motion sensing ONLY, CCTV camera with tilt & turn plus pan along with infrared for night time viewing sound is via the two way audio output, this supports up to 128gb sd card not supplied and you must down load the app or you will not be able to connect or use its easy to set up a user account and you could sign up for the clous storage but this is down to you, the camera is powered by an on board battery charged by the supplied solar panel with a USB c 3mtr connected lead or you can on first use charge via a USB c lead power source but no matter what it will need a full charge it’s easy to set up on your local Wi-Fi network and easy to use via the app you must down load this to a smart phone or tablet NOT a PC overall this appears to be well made with easy to follow fitting & usage instructions, I feel this might be a bit high in price at 49 compared to other brands sold but other than that appears to work well see close up pictures to show the full camera
This home security camera comes with a solar panel and fixings. You need to download the ubox app and register an account. The camera was very easy to connect to my wifi, just needed password, and the camera came live. I set it in may garden and I can control the angle of camera, rotate it and zoom in on the app. The volume can be set and the microphone made to go live. The app allows notifications. I added a micro sd card, so that events can be recorded.
49.99 at the time of writing is a good price for this solid piece of kit. I am very pleased with it.
We love watching the wildlife that come into our garden and at night we have a number of visiting hedgehogs that until we installed this camera, we never knew we had! This camera has proved ideal for our night watching and as its solar powered, we don’t have to worry about leads and chargers, so we can place this cam where we want it. The camera and solar panel were really easy to set up and install. This camera has a pir motion detector, night vision and also colour recording at night with built in spot light. We found the picture quality during the day and night to both be of good quality. An app can easily be downloaded onto your phone and the camera can be controlled through this. There is also a 2 way talk, so you can talk through your phone to outside and you can also hear from outside onto you phone. This camera is also ideal for home security. There is a slot for a micro sd card but it doesnt come supplied. We were very happy with this camera.
No Price on the site at the time of this review though another model sporting 3G & 4G is up for 200 and looks very similar.
The design is quite smart but needs careful placing to take advantage of the solar charging panel which can be mounted away from the camera top to find better sunlight. The manual intimates that a bracket for this purpose is included, but it wasn’t in my box? The video is crisp, clean and clear – to a point. – any required zoom is down to the device that is showing the video, this is just pan and tilt, no zoom… The Pan and tilt does work well and is reasonably fast. I am not over keen on the night vision which is dependent on white LED’s the range of which is not brilliant except if the subject is less than about 12 feet away, and it’s very obvious that the camera is working, okay for deterrent but no good if stealth is needed. It also shows the position of the camera which does make it vulnerable. The motion detection is a little hit and miss, although the two-way communication works quite well.
The camera looks and feels robust, the various connections and switch are covered with waterproof covers and overall, it is a nice package. with the equipment and facilities, I would expect the price to be between 65 and 75 and if that is so, it would get a four-star rating from me but subject to review for longevity.

Home security cameras are all the rage these days, and for good reason. With this Wi-Fi Security Camera you can strengthen your home’s security for less than the cost of a monthly cable bill. This solar-powered, wireless camera is really well made and was really easy to setup. With 1080p HD resolution video quality is really sharp and crisp. It can pan 90 and tilt from 100 to 355.
There is a built-in 10000mAh battery which stay charged with 7.8W solar panel and don’t have to worry about recharge. Make sure your wifi is a 2.4GHz not 5G. Best thing is that no subscription is required, all you need is a micro SD card. Overall a great camera with solar panel. At the time of review this device was unavailable so not sure about the price.
Fairly easy to install, rotation feature works well and it is super useful as well. Vision is great even during night time, good picture quality, easy to connect this to phone and most of all- charges itself which is fantastic. Additional motion detection useful too even though a bit annoying. Good product for a good price.
This is the first solar security camera I’ve tried out and it’s really impressive. The picture quality is excellent and it works and runs exactly as my mains powered camera. The solar aspect is so useful as I don’t have to worry about wiring and it can be placed in so many more places.
I have used a few CCTV cameras over the years and these solar ones are always welcomed by people as it is the least amount of hassle to set up.
This one is no exception with the solar panel being able to sit on top of the camera or positioned a good distance away to make sure it get the best sunlight.
The camera itself is of decent build quality but is on the cheaper side with regards to functions.
It does move left right up and down from the app and can record to micro SD card but no full colour mode at night, no movement tracking or scheduling for positions.
This is reflected in the price and is a basic pan and tilt camera which needs no external wiring.
Easy to use and setup with basic functions.
This review is for the Xega 3G/4G LTE Cellular Security Camera, Solar Powered Wireless Outdoor 4G Security Camera, Pan Tilt 355 View Spotlight, PIR Motion Sensor, 1080P Night Vision, 2 Way Talk, SIM Card Included (grey)
This is a great camera. Well made and easy to setup. The overall quality is really good and love that is has solar power charging. I have installed in a place where I have no power so the solar recharging is fantastic.
The image quality is great and the camera has a number of features. Overall would recommend.
This feels a solid and well made product, there are details that underpin this impression, the mounting bracket is metal and sturdy, the general weight and feel of the camera it self, and even the solar panel has metal arm for mounting.
The controls are all hidden behind silicon grommets and the camera comes with a USB cable and and water resistant extension – should you need to position the solar panel away from the camera to better catch the sun.
As ever with a new from the box review, I can’t speak to longevity or reliability, but it’s reassuring that thought has gone into mounting the camera, and the panel.
In the box are plugs and screws.
The camera itself works by a yet another app, although the app clearly has the ability to service other cameras from this family of devices.
It also asks for a raft of permissions.
Although I skipped a bunch by manually identifying my home WiFi. I did turn off 5GHz service, as that is usually required for pairing and then can be reactivated, I didn’t see that asked for, but my first attempt a pairing failed, with 2.4GHz only on I succeeded.
The pairing was actually okay, the camera speaks to you through the process. It’s a clear loud voice, which indicates how well the speaking through the camera function is going to work.I did reset a couple of times, but the camera read the QR code on the app and paired.
And presto I had video.
This device has good image capability and includes the powered pan and tilting to change the aspect of the camera’s view, which is a useful added functionality.
Storage is by a SD Card – which you need to provide, inserted into the camera, or you can free trial a cloud service via the app.
In conclusion this is a good device with good imaging, including at night, that allows you to speak through the camera remotely – from far away if need be.
I still feel that some common camera app akin to those available for smart devices like plugs and lights, would be a boon.
This outdoor security camera is very impressive in terms of made, design and the materials. Very clever with the Solar penal regarding unite. The pic is also quite impressive too. It has all the functions about security cameras. And it’s weather proof, which is fabulous. Highly recommend.
We recently fitted a security camera to the front of our home and spotted some ‘goings-on’ we were unaware of, including a car parking on our driveway during the daytime. With this in mind, we decided to also fit a camera to the rear of our property and ordered this due to it being solar-powered. This means we can place it high where it is not conveniently accessible without the need to worry about a power supply or having to recharge or replace batteries. Facing into sun, or even cloud, keeps the battery topped up.
The camera feels chunky and solid. Set up was simple straight from the box and involved only downloading the Ubox app from Google Play store and scanning a QR code with voice prompts at every stage. Within a few minutes, it was up and running ready for placing.
The solar panel screws into a bracket to be fitted to the top of the camera which will affect positioning – and limited ours. In our ideal positions high on our exterior walls, the solar panel would be in shadow from the guttering. Given a choice, we would have preferred the camera and solar panel to be mounted separately – although an additional mounting kit is available apparently(“please purchase one accessory kit, which includes 1 x extension cord, 1 x pack of screws, 1 x bracket”) although a purchase link is not provided. Maybe such kits are universal or maybe not. Being uncertain, we didn’t take a chance and fitted in a less than optimal position although we are still happy with this.
The camera works very well, providing bright, clear HD or SD images for both still pics and video with images being saved onto a micro-SD card (not supplied) slotted into the underside of the camera. The camera is operated via the phone/tablet app which allows for notifications if motion is detected triggering the PIR, 4 LED lights can be manually or automatically switched on to illuminate a visitor (or prowler) which is helpful for visitors and delivery couriers on dark evenings but less welcomed by unwelcome prowlers. The also camera allows 2-way communication like a video doorbell so couriers can be instructed where to leave packages.
We are very happy with this security camera and feel it offers excellent performance and value for money. We wouldn’t hesitate to order another but need to find the additional mounting kit so we can position the solar panel separately from the camera to benefit from the best light available.
This Xega WiFi Security Camera left me very impressed. I wasn’t expecting such a well made product to be honest. The camera itself is solid and very well made and there appears to be nothing cheap about this camera like a lot of others I’ve experienced. Camera can rotate 355 degrees giving you full 360 degree images. Powered by solar panel is just another added bonus especially considering the outrageous hike in energy prices. No cables or wires at all. Easily installed you simply mount the camera and solar panel , you are provided with the screws and real plugs but you will need some basic diy tools drill etc. Night vision and day vision captures are excellent and I was really impressed with Images captured. 49.99 I feel is a bargain as I have experienced alot more expensive ones that are not remotely close to the quality of this camera. Throughly recommend
With energy prices rising I jumped at the chance to order this wireless solar security camera which arrived packed well and securely and included the following:
1 x Security Camera
1 x Solar Panel
1 x USB Cable
1 x Pack of Screws
1 x User Manual
The camera was easy and straightforward for my husband to set up and works just as good as our previous mains powered one. The picture quality is superb, sharp and clear both during the day and at night. The camera can be rotated and tilted, there is a built in mic and speaker so you can communicate two ways, there is motion detection and by downloading the app you can get nonfictions straight to you phone as well as being able to control all the features.
Overall very impressed and would highly recommend this camera.
Cool little device , and I can have this at the back of the garden ( small, and reachable wifi range )
Easy to set up and pretty responsive, nice and sharp streaming.
Been set up for over 2 weeks and it’s self sustained, no cabling, no charging- very maintenance free.
The spotlight working well, so as the colour streaming in the dark.
Good range and a great tool to look after the house.
Only do 2.4GHz, not a deal breaker.
Very good price at under 50, with solar panel included.
Quite a weighty camera and good quality.
Gives a pretty clear picture and with the added benefit of not using electricity is well worth its money.
Upon first impressions I was quite impressed with this solar recharging cctv camera, its well packaged and I like the brand name XEGA.
Although I like this kit which is self sufficient, power wise by using a solar panel and internal rechargeable batteries I was a little disappointed that some bits seem to be missing, and for that reason I have dropped a star from its review rating.
The user manual/packing list shows
Solar panel = supplied
PTZ camera = supplied
Screw kit = supplied but some bits missing
User manual = supplied
Quick installation metal base = supplied
Bracket = not supplied (solar panel bracket)
Extra power cable 3m = supplied
Yet the product description in this selling page says that the solar panel bracket and fixings aren’t supplied?!?!
Confusing!
This cctv camera priced at just under 50 at time of review is however very good and is a pretty decent price in my opinion. Hopefully the supplier can address this common issue where some parts tend to be missing from the box, as I believe I am not the only reviewer to have found parts missing.
I could not find the solar panel bracket (user manual shows that this should be in the box, but product description says it isn’t, lol, make your minds up) which allows you to attach the solar panel to a wall or fence separately, and consequently I had to screw the panel directly on top of the camera unit. This isn’t a major issue, as the cctv camera and panel are south facing in my rear garden, so the cameras internal batteries will get sufficient charging from the solar panel, but I wanted the option to install the solar panel separately, if I decided to change location. Maybe the supplier can send me this separately.
Some screws and a tool was also missing although I did have the required bits to install the camera to the wall, I believe the missing screws and bolts are for the solar panel bracket to be installed separately and since the bracket is also not included, or is missing, I don’t actually need them anyway!
I’m also a little confused to the description on the selling page as it states that a sim card is provided?!?
This cctv camera connects to 2.4ghz WiFi so I’m not entirely sure why the seller has put this into their description. It does not come with an SD card either for storage so I’m confused at why the seller has put that a sim card is included!
Anyway the camera itself is good quality. It’s a pan tilt zoom cctv camera which gives you lots of control over where you want to monitor, without being restricted by a fixed/static camera. It allows you to zoom in and the picture/video feed is very good quality and can be set to either SD (standard definition, which helps if you have a slower or unreliable connection through your mobile phone or tablet) or HD (high definition, which shows higher levels of detail, although you do tend to need a pretty solid, reliable connection on WiFi and your mobile network if viewing this away from home)
2 way communication can be achieved through this, either listening in to the cctv or pressing the mic button on the app screen to talk through the camera to a visitor or unwanted visitor for example.
You can mute the audio if you wish by going into the settings and toggling this on or off.
This camera also features night vision using infrared and also features a white led floodlight which can be toggled on or off via the apps interface.
It benefits from PIR for motion detection which can be altered from off, low, medium to high sensitivity for recording motion and this can be stored on either the cloud (a free trial is included which saves your videos to the cloud for easy retrieval then after the trial period you can pay for a cloud subscription) or you can insert an SD card into the camera (upto 128Gb) which will store the video footage and can be removed and inserted into a computer, tablet or phone etc for easy viewing or transferring, as it utilises mp4 format which is widely used and very common. Of course you don’t need to remove the SD card if you’re simply viewing footage back through the app.
Installation of this is pretty easy. The camera comes with a strong flush metal bracket which can be attached to walls/fences etc relatively easily and came with appropriate wall fixings and screws/wall plugs as well as sticky templates which make drilling or creating a guide hole easy without having to get a tape measure out. I just held the bracket to the brick wall and used a marker pen to pinpoint the drill holes I needed to make.
The solar panel attached easily to the top of the camera with a simple bracket and thumbscrew and then it was just a case of plugging in the micro USB lead from the solar panel into the camera. The on/off switch is located under a rubber flap which protects the switch and charging port and a red led light turns on when the solar panel is connected (provided that the solar panel is receiving enough daylight to charge the camera that is)
Another rubber flap under the actual camera ‘ball’ houses the SD card slot and reset button)
Then its on to the app and pairing set up.
This uses an app called Ubox for viewing and retrieving video footage as well as controlling the cameras pan tilt zoom functionality etc.
Register your email then pair the camera (or add a device)
This works on 2.4ghz WiFi (not 5ghz) so you do have to be sure that the camera is within range of your WiFi routers signal.
I found the pairing and set up process pretty easy to be honest, although sharing the camera with another member of the house (partner) could be made easier. As it is, inviting someone else to use the camera involves them having to also register their email address, activating their account and then the main user has to invite the other user to share the camera. It’s not hard to do, but this could be made easier without other users having to register their email addresses.
The app could do with some refining in my opinion and is a little on the clunky basic side. It does its job well but the app needs a developer to really refine the experience and add more toggle options to the interface which can make the cctv experience more intuitive and user friendly. As it is, the app needs you to have a good play around with it to fully understand the functions and settings etc. Everything with the app feels a bit thrown together without much organisation. It’s still usable but needs some tweaking to make the end user more comfortable with the interface.
Videos and picture taken through the app is quite easy to retrieve manually, as the video and pictures tend to save directly to your devices album/gallery which I like.
This is a very good bit of kit in my opinion at a very competitive price considering its solar powered, not only provides video feed which can be controlled via pan tilt and zoom but also gives you audio and 2 way communication, not to mention a built in white flood light for extra security and peace of mind and infrared night vision which is very good as well.
The video quality is detailed and good spec with an easy toggle button in the app to change between SD and HD easily (depending on your connection strength) and the floodlight can be turned on or off easily via the app interface along with the chat function, mute, record and take a picture etc.
The battery also seems to be very reliable as well and the solar panel seems to keep the battery charging even in cloudy light levels although full sunshine is generally better for keeping the battery fully charged.
A battery percentage indicator can be toggled on or off through the app interface and this is handy to know as during the autumn and winter months the camera may need to be occasionally fully recharged indoors or a power bank could be plugged in it, to top up the battery.
A 3 metre long micro USB extension lead is also provided which is handy if you’re installing your solar panel separately (say on a fence or wall that’s south facing) but your camera is positioned where it may not get enough sunlight to charge up.
I’m not sure how this cctv camera will fare during the autumn/winter months regarding battery and charging but I will revisit this review later if I find any issues related to seasonal changes that can affect the operation of this camera and advise accordingly. For now this seems to be working very capably and no issues with charging yet, as we are in the summer months.
Areas for improvement = better user manual, app needs some refinements and of course the missing parts!
Other than that I’m pretty happy with the quality of this cctv camera and it’s using free energy!
Xega 3G/4G LTE Cellular Security Camera, Solar Powered Wireless Outdoor 4G Security Camera
This is a very well made quality security camera which comes with a solar panel module to power up the internal 1000mAh rechargeable battery, connection to this camera, via the App, is done over WiFi and this allows you to view live footage no matter where you are, even when on holiday somewhere. Set up was straight forward and installation just so, I’m very happy to recommend this camera.
So lets take a closer look having had this in operation for over a week now.
Offers
At the time of writing there isn’t any offers available, in fact it’s currently out of stock so I don’t know the actual price.
Packaging and delivery
This comes nicely presented, the box depicts an illustration of the product on the front along with key features printed all round, the camera is securely packaged with cardboard and foam material.
Package contents
1 x Security Camera
1 x Solar Panel
1 x USB Cable
1 x 3m USB extension cable
1 x Pack of Screws
1 x User Manual
Setup
You must download the ‘Ubox’ App to set up this camera, once done and registered an account, which is free, you can integrate this camera into your WiFi network. Setup time was about 10 minutes excluding attaching to wall which probably took another 10 minutes.
Function and quality
Another detailed review on here mentions this has the potential to save you money on your electric, well to be honest, WiFi cameras cost a few pounds a year, if that, to operate, totally negligible so the key selling point of solar WiFi cameras is that it completely does away with the cabling required to connect them and rely on the solar panel to keep the battery adequately charged. The only drawback is that they don’t record 24/7 and you can’t connect to them constantly as both of these operations will drain the battery in no time. They are designed to only record when movement is detected and for the occasional drop in from your mobile phone. If you want a permanent display in the home with the camera constantly recording them you will need to opt for a mains powered WiFi camera such as:
Security Camera with Color Night Vision, Ctronics 1080P PTZ Digital Zoom
I have reviewed the above and it’s one awesome mains powered camera.
This camera from ‘Xega’ is very good and you do get everything you need to set up apart from a micro SD card, I’ve currently installed a 32Gb card which is sufficient for on/off recordings, the one I’m using is:
mengmi Micro SD Card 32GB microSDHC Class 10 Gopro Memory Card
These are good memory cards which I’ve been using for years now.
Before attaching this up to the wall you do need to connect it to the App and your home WiFi network, download App, register, then tap add device, on the camera is a silicon cover where you’ll find the power switch, before switching on insert your SD card, once on the App will quickly find the camera and you then have to show the camera a QR code displayed on your phone and that’s it, the App will ask you for your routers WiFI password so have that to hand.
The camera will operate without any form of SD card.
All the fittings are supplied to attach the solar panel to the camera and the camera to the wall via a metal bracket. The cable coming from the solar panel is about 25cm long, very short but adequate when the solar panel is attached above the camera, however, the product description states you can buy an extension cable for the solar panel, well don’t bother because one is already included in the box, this gives you the option to place the solar panel where there’s more sun.
The camera has full rotational capabilities as one would expect from a dome camera along with digital zoom, the resolution can also be changed from standard to high. The App offers cloud recording but this is a paid for service so just use the SD card. There’s many settings which I’m not going to go into as I would be here all day writing but the basics are the camera will automatically start recording when movement is detected, it has built in optional bright white LED’s which are useful to light up a small area plus the night vision is in colour.
The camera can’t be used via Windows or any other third party camera App, you’re stuck with ‘Ubox’ unfortunately. Any video footage taken can be downloaded to your phone which is in the form of an MP4 file which will include sound. I should’ve mentioned above that you can have a two way conversation using the camera, this is crystal clear.
Battery wise, the App will show you the battery percentage level, come the evening the battery is on 100%, at dawn it’s dropping to 80-85%, by 9am the battery is fully charged, considering we’re still in summer then that’s to be expected yet based on these figures this camera should sufficiently charge up during the limited daylight hours in winter. If you do need to give the battery a boost then simply unplug the solar panels micro USB cable from the camera and insert a cable from a power bank as the battery is contained in the camera itself.
Conclusion
A very good solar WiFi camera which works for me, the App is straight forward and the solar panel allows me to have this camera positioned anywhere without the need for electric cables.
Highly recommended.

Very good quality feeling camera, box was heavier than expected that got my attention before I even opened the box. Now it’s not a ton weight so don’t worry, but it had me looking to check if it was metal bodied, but it’s a plastic outer construction, no bad thing as it all looks and feels very premium. Everything in the box is top notch, cables (don’t worry it’s cable less), there is an extra long charging cable for should you need to give it an emergency charge, where we have the camera if we had to we could easily plug it in from our living room window or you could even plug a power bank into it via the long charging cable for a top up, which I don’t see it ever needing thanks to the nicely sized solar panel, you also see the battery level from the app. The solar panel can either be situated on top of the camera as we have it or fitted separate and it then connects to the camera via the supplied cable, so situating the camera to your needs shouldn’t be a problem. Setting up was so easy without any issues (we were bracing ourselves for lots of head scratching and frustration). But it wasn’t to be, I downloaded the app via the QR code on the instructions then switched the camera on (the camera voice prompts you), I couldn’t see the camera on my device, so as per instructions I pressed the reset button and the camera entered pairing mode looking for my WiFi, I input the code and it connected no problem, I was then able to see the camera on the app and connect to it, I was then able to send an invite to my wife’s phone (she had also downloaded the app) an invite her to the camera and she was also connected. Super easy!!! Fitting was a simple matter of screwing the fixing plate to the wall with the supplied fixing kit ( of which their are two), should you wish to separate the camera from the solar panel, so a fixing kit for each. The camera then slots tightly onto the bracket ( be sure the fixing screws are nice and flush to the plate or the camera won’t slide on ) then it’s held to the bracket via two retaining screws one on either side. Once fitted you can then start setting up the camera settings via the app, if your not using the cloud for storage you’ll have to insert a micro SD card to give the camera somewhere to store it’s recordings and just to mention all the ports and slots are well protected with rubber plugs. You can pan, tilt, zoom in/out, pick day mode/night mode, it’s very easy to get the camera how you want it. Day mode works surprisingly well at night, (where very bright white LEDs come on when anything comes into the cameras area. Night mode has the infra red LEDs on display, so both modes are very good visual deterrents, you can even have the camera emit an audible alarm from it’s speaker or speak to or hear what someone is saying via the camera, another excellent function, and all the while there is a blue led showing on the camera to show it’s on. To clear recordings that get sent to your mobile device just simply format the memory card and it’s clear of everything. This camera has far exceeded our expectations both in quality and functions offered, but also ease of set up, which we were dreading from past experience of cheaper older cameras. It’s really very good and it’s also a very good visual deterrent what with bright LEDs, audible alarms and the ability to communicate without opening the door!!! An excellent package that I recommend for function, quality and ease of set up
This camera was delivered quickly and in good quality packaging. It is quite a big-sized camera and one of the best I have used for a while. It is super easy to use and set up, and it is also solar-powered which is very impressive.
It is a great way of saving on your electricity bill as sunlight is actually free so the only cost this has is itself. You can download the app on your phone and play around with the settings. It has a super HD picture quality and even at night, it is really clear.
It has human detection so you get notifications when someone walks near your house. Also, it has two-way audio so you can talk to your delivery guy when you’re out for example. You can tilt and rotate the camera a lot as well so you never miss anything.
Overall, fantastic camera, many cool features and does the job brilliantly.
This security camera is good. It is easy to install and use. Good quality and design.
If you’re looking for a remote camera without wifi and power-saving technology, this is the camera system for you. I have a large garden and live in a rather remote area with no power and a rather rubbish wifi connection. This camera performs better than my cameras which have a constant power supply. The picture is crystal clear in HD mode and you can control the camera with instant movement from the controls on your phone.
The camera is rather easy to use and comes with everything you need to get started. It really is pretty much plug-and-play. The included solar panel has no issue maintaining its charge with adequate sunlight. During the initial setup, before mounting it in its final location, I only had one bar of 4G signal, but access and response from the app were still excellent. The app is feature-rich, and you can also manage the card’s data plan right from it.
Connectors and ports are waterproof. The camera is almost effortless to build, activate, assemble and set up. I had an adequate signal, and the camera responded immediately during setup. When controlling the camera with an iPhone using the app, the response was quick, and camera movements were very smooth. I had the camera set to Standard Definition, and the picture was very sharp.
I strongly recommend this camera system for anyone that needs a remote camera that doesn’t have internet or power available on the site you’re trying to protect.
Since energy prices have gone up lately, I’m always looking for ways to cut back on costs. I used to use a regular security camera that ran off the mains, But i decided this was a good time to buy a more economical version that would not guzzle any electricity. My main concern is that it would not work as well as a mains operated camera, But to be fair, The camera is sturdy, Powers itself and the picture is crystal clear.
It can rotate at 355 and also tilt up and down. There is a handy 2 way commination, So if there’s a package, And I’m out, I am able to speak to the courier directly. It has night vision, Which is just OK, Not 100% clear without a fog light, But that’s the only gripe i have. Overall, A very good camera at a decent price.
