I took a bit of a punt on this bike. Im the guy he reads loads of reviews before I buy anything. There wasnt a single one on Amazon. I found a good one by some middle aged guy on Youtube though.
So delivery was quicker than expected took less than a week. I paid 1300 and this is what I got….
Its bigger than it looks framewise. Im 5ft 8 and I would think it would be a struggle for anyone 5ft 5 or smaller. Its heavy but so are all ebikes. It looks cool and people will stop and chat to you about it from teenagers to 50 yr olds like me.
I bought it for battery size and that it folds. I havent folded it up yet but that will come. I did a test ride on tracks along a river and country lanes using power assists 1 and 2. Went along quite nicely around 13mph. I did 20 miles and used no more than 30%. I reckon you could easily do 70 miles no problem. (im 14 stone)
The power assist goes to level 5. You wont need it. A word of warning this bike is not UK legal. Away from the crowds I did try power 5 and easily got to 30mph. No need to go that fast. Plus its got a twist and go throttle so its technically a moped. Be sensible, if you hurt someone by going too fast the cops will come calling. Like I said I got it for distance not speed.
I have ridden two other ebikes that were double the price of this one. The introduction of power was more intelligent…the bikes sensed you were struggling and gave you some assistance. This one just boots you up the backside after half a pedal revolution. Great fun but basic I suppose. The gearing soon runs out so you feel at times that you are pedalling fresh air with little to no resistance. That said if you are after a bike that does all the hard work then this is for you. If you want to get a workout but want some assistance in your back pocket just in case..then this probably isnt for you.
My sons friend stood on the back of the bike whilst he was riding it and damaged the brake cable so it leaked. I contacted the company who were great. Free of charge they sent me a full unit of brake lever, cable and caliper. It took a couple of weeks from China but they were great. So dont let that put you off.
In short a great bike for the price and loads of fun. Prepare to get some attention as you cruise. Hope this review helps anyone thinking of taking a punt on this.
