I have used these ferrules on my Prusa MK3 power supply extension and they have worked perfectly for the past 6 months. Easy to use and really helps to get a decent connection.
Useful first time intro to crimping for electrical connections.
Reduces getting tiny holes punctured in your fingers from strands of tiny wires. Organising box is useful and it’s all pretty straightforward.
This surpassed my expectations. I have found the crimper easy to use and reliable. The crimps are solid and do not move. Good selection of bootlace ferrules. Really good value.
This provided just what we required to finish the bare ends of wires that were required to be inserted into an electrical terminal. Did the job perfectly and professionally with sold crimping to the ferrules. Really pleased we decided to buy this item and it comes with a very handy case
Thos is a great kit. After too many years of doing auto electrics using chocolate blocks and solder connections, this kit comes with such a massive range of ferrules for all applicantions such as auto and home electronics. Quality is excellent and comes with all the elements you need such as the ferrules and the heavy duty crimping tool.
Bought this after a bit of research on Amazon, I’m the guy that will read 10 reviews for a screw, so I tend to be careful with what I purchase.
I have a few go to brands for tools, but I had never tried Preciva.
The first surprise when turning up was that it came in a case, I had picked the cheapest option “just in case it was bad” and expected only to get the tool and crimps, so getting the case was a bonus and it’s nice quality.
The tool I cannot fault at all. Many years ago these crimps were the bane of my life, the tool I used was nowhere near as sophisticated as this one and after a few cycles I would find that they would fail, often with dramatic effect since it often meant that suddenly a load more amps were being pushed over less cables and smoke often ensued.
I’m really impressed with the actual crimps, and I’ve become a convert since this tool entered my life!
The tool is great, the crimps are great and the end result is great as well.
No hesitation in recommending this and I will certainly add preciva to my list of tool vendors worth considering!
HongSW make some pretty good crimpers,,, they worked very well on my project…The only thing I would change on them is the ability to adjust them ,,it is easy to takeout the screw ,but I found it awkward to turn the adjustment wheel .. Otherwise very good value..
Seems good quality & with a selection of ferrules included. All good
I’ve never got on well with ferrules and have tried a variety of different crimpers with unsatisfactory results – tho it was probably cos I wasn’t good at using them. However these crimpers are incredibly easy to use and I’ve had great results with them.
Brilliant crimpers and Ferrule for the home DIYers. All my strand wires now have ferrules.
Pretty good product for the price if your not going to use it that much.
If like me you do occasional wiring jobs at home and struggle with multi stranded cable then this kit is perfect. The crimps are very easy to use and I think makes the terminal safer as there is no danger of a stray wire escaping. Probably a bit expensive for an occasional job like I need, but worth every penny in the knowledge of a sound job and ease of connecting to screw or lever terminals.
Ideal for multi strand cable where you have a screw method of securing the cable, using these Ferrell’s keeps all the strands protected from damage caused by over tightening of the screw which can cut through the strands. The crimp tool comes preset and works straight out of the box. Well pleased with this item.
Have used several times with non-insulated bootlace ferrules (bought separately) when rewiring 3 pin plugs (but snip down crimped ends to length). Will also buy some double ferrules for socket connections.
The Preciva tool makes crimping ferrules a doodle. It is straight forward to use and is ergonomic and well built and provides peace of mind that a solid connection has been made. Make sure you get the case so tool + ferrules can be kept together.
Perfect in hand size and handle grip. Crimping action very positive and quick. A great little case that will take an extra packet of ferals to. Very neat for storage in van etc.
A really useful tool for crimping flex and multi core conductors. A good range of crimp sizes included in the package. The tool is really comfortable and crimps really well with little effort. Overall a great produc
Bought for use at work. Tool is easy to use and off good construction. Good selection of crimps.
a very good crimping set so far, have used most of the middle sizes, very good crimp quality, very good set for the price.
By trade I’m a plumbing heating engineer I’m not a massive fan of electrical wiring. Hate having frayed bits of copper wire or fighting to fit cables into sockets and immersions. Brought this to help and I must say it’s crazy how something so simple can make wiring easy. The tool and the fittings come well packaged in a soft body case. I will always use this going forward with electrical work as it gives a nice professional look and takes seconds to install ferrules on the copper wire. definitely worth the money
Comes in a neat self contained wallet. Crimper works on a ratchet mechanism and is easy to use. Great for multi strand wire connections with a variety of crimps sizes and the ones I’ve used so far have crimp evenly.
Was using an air crimper to crimp bootlace terminals, omg these crimpers are fantastic, much better than what I was using, great quality, smooth action ,comfortable when crimping, made my life so much easie
Such an amazing item the quality is amazing even down to the plastic ferrell box. As for easy to use. You don’t need much pressure to crimp the ends easy to do with 1 hand. Would definitely recommend to people
It could/should be sold in pair with wire stripper where stripping lengths can be set. (Saving time on cutting back wire on crimp ends).
Name of manufacturer/supplier could be printed on the tool. That other people could search for it on internet and buy itinstead of stealing it.
Great little set for DIYers. very please for the price
I bought this Ferrules set to replace the tinned ends on my 3d printers. Set is easy to use and the crimp tool and Ferrules are very good quality, would highly recommend
Strong construction, it clamps the ferrals really well.
I’m very happy with the purchase.
I am so happy I got this little toolset. I have been doing some small electronic DIY around the house lately and I can’t get around doing things without it!
I was sceptical but they genuinely work really well
So much so my colleagues have also bought a se
Great product. Exactly as advertised. Packaged well and received quickly. Would use agai
Very handy set of crimper and terminals in a neat canvas bag. A good assortment of crimps and a study crimp tool. The tool embosses grooves in the crimp, which i guess allows a better grip in screw terminals. Very easy to use
Easy to use, crimps are cheap that come with it.
I wish I’d had this product years ago. My habit has been to solder the bared wire before connecting to whatever. This is so much easier, quicker and neater. Just a simple crimp.
fitting ferrules on cables in plug tops to ensure better and safer contact in plug terminals
I have used this crimping set a number of times. The pliers work well and are of reasonable quality. I like the handy little case to keep the kit together. It has all the usual size ferrules for most of the multi-strand cables that I use. Handy tool for the price.
Used this for my solar panel for the wires into the solar controller and looks nice and tidy.
Really simple to use and work great even compared to similar tool costing 10 times as much as this
Very good quality.
I was curious whether the crimped wires would still fit inside small Wago 221 terminals with the insulated plastic part. The smaller sizes 22, 20, 18, 16 AWG fit fine. The 14 AWG and bigger will not fit.
Easy to use sturdy crimpers and plenty of terminals in different sizes. Used for shortening the flying leads on rcbo breakers in consumer uni
Very rarely use this crimper … however perfect for ferrule crimps flex for boiler and heating controls using stranded flex cable.
Good product and value for money for somebody who only uses these every so often.
Unable to say If they would still be fine when using daily
Having seen other reviews of this item elsewhere, I decided to buy this rather than a more expensive crimping tool. It does the job it is intended to. I have not compared with the expensive type obviously. It seems sturdy enough to do all the jobs I’ll ever need it for.
I’ve been using this for about 2 weeks now and it’s been perfect. It’s not too big and not too small but has enough power to crimp every ferrule perfectly. It comes with its own fabric case along with the box of assorted ferrules but the case isn’t very useful. Comparing the price between this and more up market ones you get exactly the same thing for a fraction of the price.
I like the idea of a crimper that crimps square as should make it easier to fit into some terminals, feels nice in the hand and crimps well, as for longevity will have to wait and see. The case is of decent quality and seems robust, the ferrules are not uk coloured so I can’t use for work but I just swapped them out, if bought for home use it’s no problem.
This is a great tool and the first time I’ve ever used one. I bought it because I was fed up of stabbing my fingers with stray strands of wire. I just would like lots more of the smallish sized ferrules and the insulating plastic to match the colour of UK mains wires, blue, brown & yellow/green. I’m not sure if the colours supplied actually mean anything as I’m
not an electrician but it’s just be nice to colour match.
It makes my work easier and I am glad I buy it (I mean the set) If you buy this for crimping flex, do your self favor and buy set of non-insulated crimping wire end ferrules. They can come handy in some situations, when you want to put 2 wires in one connector block.
Lovely bit of kit, I would however suggest getting the uninsulated bootlace ferrules 6mmx15mm to do the fly leads on RCBO’s when you cut them down, as they make a much better job of it than the insulated ferrules that come with the tool – Search uninsulated bootlace ferrules EN 6015 or EN 6012.
Bought these to try on a new alarm instal, wish I’d used them years ago, once you get a feel for holding and crimping this is a very quick and neat way to terminate wires. The tool supplied with this kit seems pretty good, feels very nice in your hand with a soft grip.
I would highly recommend this if you do any work with multi core cable where you have to screw clamp wire dow
These do the job intended, I’ve regularly been crimping 0.5mm to 6mm fine stranded cables with these and they’ve served their purpose well, they produce a square shaped ferrule crimp, and I would buy these again when the time comes for a new set. Great product value.
works great with a good selection of ferrules . ideal if you are needing a kit for the occasional job and don’t want to spend 3 x as much on a pro crimpe
Nothing to dislike at all with this set ; just wish I’d tried using ferrules ages ago now instead of messing about with solder, etc!
This kit was a good price, 1200 ferrules should keep me going until about the year 2100, and the crimper feels solidly built (unlike some I’ve seen!).
This issue was caused by sharp edges in the square section of the finished crimps giving an interference within the connector socket. I shall try to file the crimp to remove burrs before fitting when making crimps in the future.
Didn’t use this tool a lot since i bought it but the few time I used it I had no problems. It worked well. Good little tool to have in your kit.
Unboxing:
The outer cardboard box is sturdy and provides good protection during shipping.
Inside is a fabric zip closure case with space for the crimp too and box of ferrules.
There’s also a multi language user manual which is clear and concise.
In use:
The ferrules are easy to select with wire sizes on the inside of the box insert. The ferruled hadn’t slipped or mixed, despite being shipped. The only improvement here would be to fasten to cardboard insert to the lid so it stays in place.
The ferrule material is bright and not tarnished. It can be slipped onto a stripped wire, with the wire either trimmed to length before or after insertion.
From there, simply insert into the crimp tool up to the base of the ferrule and squeeze.
The crimp tool feels robust, and handled from the smallest to the largest ferrule nicely.
The ferrules are then very firmly crimped in place, and would not pull off.
They handle insertion into a screwed terminal well, with a good length of ferrule for insertion. This can be trimmed back if required for a shorter terminal insertion depth.
The ferrules are crimped into a square shape as expected. This means they can take up more space than the alternative hexagonal crimps in circular terminals, but provides a bigger land for a screw to bite into.
Final thoughts:
I’d buy it again if I needed another one. This tool is excellent quality and sturdy, and the provided selection and quantity of ferrules is superb. Certainly enough to keep most hobbyists going for a good while.
For the price , these are perfect for the occasional ferrule. by all accounts require slightly more pressure than top of the range brands, but wasn’t an issue for me. Good selection of ferrules in the box and a handy reference for which ones to use. Not designed for; and unless your able to get a spade terminal or similar in wire end first, not much use for crimping other types of terminals as the jaws don’t open wide enough. Very handy and good price.
What a great tool for the money! I’m an electrician by trade, and have borrowed a more expensive one of these in the past and have been meaning to treat myself. These are a must for small stranded cables, and to be honest I couldn’t justify the cost of the others for how many times I need this tool. I must say this comes neatly packaged with hundreds of ferrules in a carry case. The tool itself is quite small, but works perfectly! I have used it on an outside lighting job this weekend and crimped 6 or so 3 core cables and it worked flawlessly. I can honestly recommend this product fully
I ordered these to replace the set I was given at work, which frankly were not up to the job. I have a job to replace around 100 sub meters and the set I was given kept disforming the crimps, making them hard to get in the small terminals and usually requiring a second run through.
But these are great, They come packaged in a nice wallet with a set of ferrules.
They are easy to use and although not a ratchet action they are easy to operate with one hand.
I used the 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.5mm ferrules all without issue. Both the ones that came with the set and some I already had.
They crimp cleanly and will not pull off.
Very good little crimpers at a fraction of the cost of some better know brands.
I’ve been looking for a crimping set for a while when someone on social media recommended this Preciva kit. As I’ve been pleased with their tools before, I took the plunge and I’m glad I did.
It comes with a large selection of ferrules for common sized wire and gives a nice square crimp with sort of jagged edges to help grip in a screw terminal – better than the smooth U-shape you generally get that can slip. See photos.
The four mandrel design is so much easier than open-jaw crimpers which need three hands just to keep the wire from falling out. See video – apologies for focus!
They also do a larger gauge model, but this suits me for hobby and occasional mains work, I’m not wiring solar panels or car batteries.
I’ll never tin+heatshrink stranded cables again, this saves so much time (and burnt fingers!)
My only complaint is that I wish they did transparent or different colour plastic ends that were the same size, as otherwise you need to have some wire exposed to see which colour wire it is (live, earth, neutral etc.) but the whole industry is like that, not just this product.
I’ve been building some panels for a new customer, who requires ferrules to be crimped with square (four jaw) crimpers. That meant that my 50 CK tools crimper was no good for this job. This Preciva one was the cheapest 4 jaw crimper I could find delivered at short notice.
Its a great bit of gear, seems very high quality. I intended to only use it for this one customer/job, but I’m going to use it for all ferrule work going forward.
Things I like about it:
+The crimped ferrule has a square cross section, much easier to insert into terminals than the C shaped section that the CK one (and all “old school” crimpers) leave. See photo for comparison.
+It only has one position no matter the size of wire. My CK one has multiple slots on the die depending on what size wire you are crimping. This one is so much less faff to use, especially when dealing with multiple wire gauges in quick succession. Also stops the apprentice using the wrong size and over/under crimping one.
+This Preciva one also does 0.08 to 6.0 mm, whereas my CK only does 0.14 to 2.5 mm!
+The ferrules it comes with seem good quality, and the zip case is great. Nice to have it all together, and keeps the ferrules from spilling in my tool bag.
+It doesn’t ratchet, which is actually good in this case ,as this four jaw type requires so little pressure to crimp compared to the traditional type.
Really can’t fault this. I’ve already recommended it to my colleagues. I’m a bit peeved that my CK tools one is going to be retired, considering it was over twice the price of this one, and it didn’t come with a case or ferrules!
I’ve only had this for a week, and we have already crimped approx. 1000 ferrules with it. I’ll update the review in a couple of months if I have any problems with longevity.
This is a great little set, well worth the money. I was surprised how well the crimping tool worked. The crimp tool makes an extraordinarily strong and secure connection to the cable with truly little effort. You can adjust the crimping force. However, once I tried them out, I found I was happy with the current adjustment. This kit comes with about 1200 ferrules in a range of colours and sizes within a plastic box. The tool and the box of ferules are placed in a zip case keeping everything together. Not sure how useful all the ferrule sizes are, but I found I need to buy more of the common sizes I used. The coloured plastic bits around the ferrules are easily removed if not required.
Chose the correct sizes ferrule and you will find you can get the ferrule to cover the wire all the way to the insulation creating a good connection. Overall an exceptionally good tool for the job.
I have now used this several times and its just brilliant value. I’ve been a lecky for many years and enjoyed using quality crimping tools on aircraft where I can tell if the crimp is correct. (PTT if anyone recognizes that term?)
This is a quality tool and to have 100s of ferrules in the kit through a range of sizes is just amazing for the price.
Tip – if you just want to apply a ferrule to a stranded wire end but not retain the coloured collar, crimp as normal then use a cutter to take the collar off. You’ll work it out.
A really simple tool that does a 4 way crimp of ferrules onto wires.
This is wonderful if you have light stranded wire that you want to put into a screw terminal. Usually if you just stuff the wire in you end up with a poor contact and inevitably the wire breaks or falls out.
By crimping terminals on you get a good electricial and mechanical contact. It also looks neater.
These crimpers work really well and come with a big box of all the different size crimps. This make is really easy to fit ferrules to all the connecting wires on your project – which means you actually bother to do it.
The crimpers seem really solid, sturdy and even come in a zipped case which also holds the box of ferrules.
They are not expensive, so get some!
I got this to put decent ends on wires for wiring things up. There is a good range of ferrules in the set, though I have found for my purposes that the three smaller sizes are being used exclusively so far. I’m wondering just what those huge fat ferrules could be used for.
The ratchet crimper is easy to use and I found it’s default pressure is about right. The ferrules crimp nicely. Though I have found a twist to the inner wires helps a lot. If your first thought ferrule doesn’t fit on the wire because of the insulation, then try the next size up, kinda obvious. I try and make sure the ferrule is a good fit on the insulation as this will minimise any movement of the wires in the ferrule when in use.
So far I’ve used these a lot on connections I need to make/break a lot and they’ve lasted better than any other solution I tried.
I have to admit, I’m looking for a supply of just the smallest ferrules now as it looks like I’ll use them up in no time.
These things start as possibly a bit of a solution looking for a problem but quickly end up being so very useful you’ll wonder how you coped without.
So far I’ve found the Preciva brand of things to be slightly better quality to toher brands as I have gone through other tools and replaced them with this brand.
This is a crimping tool for bootlace ferrules, the metal sleeves you can put over stranded wire for better connection when screwing said wire into terminals. It comes with a wide variety of insulated bootlace ferrules – these have a collar of plastic around one end, to cover any wire that shows between the crimped ferrule and the insulation of the wire itself – to be used if the wiring can be exposed in normal use / you’re tinkering around with a prototype. It *doesn’t* come with any uninsulated ones, which is what you’d want for inside a plug – this is why I knocked a star off “Value for money” as some of these in the selection would have been perfect.
The concern whenever screwing stranded wire into a terminal is that you can break some of the strands while tightening up, which can cause excess heat / arcing / both. This tool provides a solution, and the crimped ferrules pass the tug test (so long as you use the right size for the wire!)
If you’re doing hundreds of crimps a day then I would spend more and get a powered one, but otherwise this is fine. There’s a lot of similarly-named and badged products in this category, and the English translation of the instructions isn’t perfect, but it does the job.
I am very happy with the Preciva ferrule crimping tool. The tool I got had a better AWG range than the one advertised; mine was AWG 23-7 rather than AWG 23-10. The tool itself crimps neatly and consistently and seems so far to be very robust. This came with 1200 ferrules of varying sizes, which came in handy for a personal car audio install. The ferrules allowed me to terminate neatly and enable 100% contact of the conductors. The case is also a nice touch to enable safe and secure storage. The box the ferrules came in was secure and had a handy size guide. If you have never used this tool before, then there is a handy user guide included. If you want to achieve a neat job, I recommend this.
I was initially after a crimper for bootlace end ferrules, and after adding this Preciva model to my Amazon basket, I saw a different Preciva crimper for spade terminals which I also added. Both had a large number of positive reviews, and at the time I write this, this bootlace ferrule crimper has an overall rating 4.8 out of 242 reviews, and 88% of them are 5-star reviews.
Based on these positive reviews, I ordered them both. The following day I was reminded by a newspaper article that a website called Fakespot checks the reviews of any Amazon item you want, and gives a grading from A to F, based on how authentic the reviews appears to be.
I was alarmed when I checked both crimpers, and the website graded both sets of reviews with an F (the lowest grading) indicating that it thought most of the reviews were fake! These are often where the seller has offered an incentive for giving a positive review, perhaps asking for a product photo or video upload. It also said “Our engine has profiled the reviewer patterns and has determined that there is high deception involved.”
Although a bit worried about these dire warnings, I was looking forward to checking out both tools to see what they were *really* like!
This is therefore a review for the “Preciva Crimper Plier Set, 0.25-10mm/AWG23-10 Self-adjustable Ratchet Wire Crimping Tool with 1200 Wire Terminal Crimp Connectors and Wire End Ferrule”.
The crimper was accompanied by a selection box of ferrules, a nicely-presented instruction booklet, and a zip-up case. The case isn’t mentioned in the item description, but I note that some other reviewers have received one in the package too. Other reviewers have supplied photos of what they got, and examples of the crimping, so I won’t add my own to this review as I have nothing new to add on that score. Also included was a card which suggested I might like to join the “Preciva Tester community”, where I would “get products at a heavily-discounted price or free”. I have not visited the relevant Facebook page, nor have I contacted or been approached by the seller or manufacturer.
Despite my worries, I am actually very pleased with my purchase. The tool I received makes a very good job of crimping, and the good selection of differently-sized ferrules looks as though it’ll last me for some time. The ferrules don’t come off the wire when pulled, and the final result is very neat. Because the supplied ferrules have an insulated plastic sleeve at one end, they won’t be suitable for all applications. The non-insulated variety are better-suited in small spaces, like UK 13A plugs. I tried to remove some of the plastic sleeves, but they were very well attached to the metal ferrule tube, and I just ended up damaging the ferrule. I have now purchased a collection of non-insulated ferrules to supplement the insulated ones which were included with the crimper.
Note that this crimper has four jaws/anvils, and the end result is a ferrule with a squarish cross-section, unlike some other crimpers which have six jaws/anvils, but that’s no problem for me. Preciva offer a more expensive six-jaw crimper kit on Amazon, but the crimp range is reduced to 0.25-6mm.
The crimper has comfortable plastic handles which don’t slip off, and it feels very good to hold and use. It is very similar to other sub-25 end ferrule crimpers on Amazon (they probably come from the same Chinese factory), and it is likely that they take their design from the expensive Knipex 975304 (also available on Amazon) which is from a very well respected German company, but costs about five to eight times as much!
All in all, I am very happy to award 5 stars to this crimper kit, as it is a joy to use. The tool works exactly as I had hoped, there’s a good selection of ferrules, and the kit is very good value. Unfortunately the other Preciva crimper didn’t work quite so well, but that’s for another review!
perfect, how some can say bad quality i have no idea, i have brought these for a “novice” job i am going to be doing in a few weeks time, i say novice although i have been doing this sort of thing over 20 years but never took any courses etc, as a tester i have attached 4 ends with great success, i have a slight feeling that some may be trying to crimp the wrong part of the terminal, unless they trying to crimp spade connectors etc? I will update if i find anything different down the line.
edit, i love this, ever had the problem of trying to get 3 wire’s in to one hole? this is perfect, i lime to to tin my wire ends but thats not always realistic, putting one of these on the end gives them that “proper job” look. might have to get myself another set as a mate from Spain is over and he as took a fancy to them.
I’ve bought various cheap crimping tools in the past with varying success. I use some premium crimping tools at work and I generally notice the deficiencies pretty quickly when a tool doesn’t perform.
I bought this pack as it seems unbelievable value, yet it gets very good reviews. It arrived last week and I am still waiting for the opportunity to use it on a cabling installation this week, however, I got the opportunity to use the crimping tool last night, to crimp the ferrules onto the end of a bike brake cable.
I’ve never seen a bike with these crimped correctly and generally, they fall off the first time you touch them (as happened last night!). I replaced the ferrule and crimped with the Preciva tool and it worked a treat – thoroughly attached and I was unable to pull it off.
The tool itself seems very well made. It crimps evenly on all four sides. The teeth in the jaws make the ferrule grip the cable correctly from all four sides.
The handles on this tool are also better quality than equivalently priced crimping tools – generous, rounded plastic moulds on the metal handle make the crimping process comfortable and give me more confidence in the build quality of the tool in general.
The ratchet release also works well – a little pressure on the handles allows you to release the ratchet an back the tool off in the event of a problem.
This tool, coupled with a box of crimps that I couldn’t buy elsewhere for the same money – a no brainer!
Have you have ever seen the cable ends inside various things that have the little brass or tin bootlace ferrules fitted to the cables? I always thought how much neater and safer that looks because it practically eliminates the chance of strands of fine cable that you can hardly see, shorting out connections. This tool allows you to fit those ferrules yourself.
Be aware that is ONLY designed for bootlace ferrules so don’t buy it for any other type of connectors.
The tool itself works perfectly and it makes a very strong and secure connection to the cable with very little effort. The ferrules have a bell type entry so they really help to guide the cable in nice and straight all the way to the insulation so no conductor is visible. If the ferrule is a really tight fight a little twist and it will glide right in. I can’t pull the crimped ferrule off the cable no matter how hard I try. The cable will always break before the ferrule comes off.
You can adjust the crimping force by removing the locking screw and rotating the adjustment dial. Just for clarity when I say crimping force I mean how tightly the ferrule it attached to the cable and not how much pressure you need to apply to close the crimpers. Obviously if it takes a lot of strength to close the crimpers they must be crimping on the cable very tightly. While the screw makes it a little fiddly, it should mean that once set to your liking it most probably won’t ever need adjusting again.
The tool I received, tightened the strength of the crimp on the cable the opposite way to the arrows stamped on it. So I had to rotate the dial to the – to increase the strength of the connection and to the + to decrease it. So just be aware that that could be the reason why some people don’t get a strong crimp and the ferrules can be pulled off.
This kit comes with 1200 ferrules to get you going. I would have liked some twin entry ferrules in a couple of sizes instead of some of the tiny ones, but is represents great value for money as it is so I’m not complaining.
It would be great if I could get the ferrules with different coloured insulation in each ferrule size for live, neutral and earth etc. but so far I haven’t found anywhere that sells them that way so I apply insulating tape of the correct colour instead. If you know of somewhere that sells them, please let me know.
A little tip I recommend is that when buying extra ferrules yourself in whatever size you use a lot of get 10mm length or more and cut them down with your side cutters rather than having to buy different lengths. Then you can get the ferrule in all the way to the insulation creating a really nice looking connection.
Crimper Plier Set, Preciva 0.5-10mm2 Self-adjustable Ratchet Wire Crimping Tools with 1200 Wire Terminal Crimp Connector Insulated and Uninsulated Wire End Ferrules
Good range of ferrules and the crimp pliers are very easy to operate.
The coloured plastic bits are easily removed if not required.
I bought this set to re-crimp the neutral and earth wires on an RCBO after cutting them to length for a neater installation.
I tried it out on a spare piece of the neutral wire, this wire has a lot of very fine strands of copper inside the insulation so a good crimp is essential to ensure good contact inside the terminal. I selected a blue ferrule, it looked as though it may be a little small but I was surprised when the copper fitted perfectly with only a slight twist. Placing the ferrule inside the crimp tool I squeezed it shut with very little effort, I had anticipated that far greater pressure would be required.
Removing the ferrule from the tool I gave it a tug and it seemed secure so I then used pliers to grip the plastic insulator and pulled. My aim was to remove the ferrule from the wire so I applied plenty of force which only succeeded in removing the coloured insulator from the ferrule, the crimped on terminal was still firmly attached.
A great little tool for the money.
