It’s for my peace of mind. I have a fear of pes
Saw great reviews on this so will be giving it a go, will update when have used for a few times, fingers crossed. pleasant smell
Has a beautiful minty smell – only need to use a couple squirts as quite strong. But the house smells nice and minty plus cleared your nose.
This peppermint spray is a safe, eco alternative to pest control, that’s definitely worth a try especially if you have animals or children. We’ve recently had mice and have had to use poison previously, but as we have a dog that bothered me, as although we hide the poison well so that our dog shouldn’t get near it, there is always that worry that somehow they will.
Peppermint oil as a pest deterrent is only something I’ve recently come across, and therefore have been pleased to give this a try. Unlike poison, this spray is a repellent, the theory being to discourage the mice from making homes in your house by spraying the peppermint oil in the places where there is or could be mouse activity. For us it’s behind the tumble dryer, which is awkward to get to, but much easier with this spray.
For 11.39 at the point of review, you receive a 750ml spray bottle of product, which is easy to apply to even tight areas because of the spray delivery system. The peppermint spray isn’t too strong in use and you soon get used to it. The smell does dissipate over time, and it’s at that point that you need to re-spray. Since using this regularly we haven’t had mice back since we replaced the poison with this spray. Whether that’s because they’ve died from previously ingested poison or because of the spray detergent, I can’t honestly say, we’ll have to see long-term, but so far so good with this in our house.
I think it’s definitely worth a try though if you’re having mice problems inside your house and have dogs or children, or just want to be more environmentally friendly to see if this works first. It’s a small investment to try and cheaper than other alternatives. Overall it’s four stars from me.
Had what looked like field mice coming into one of my garden sheds. Seems to have worked. No signs of entry over the last week after spraying.
It does seem to work to keep mice away however it is still under testing. Certainly, it will need regular use to be completely effective.
Well worth a try.
The smell is nice – I like peppermint so it is pleasant going into my shed these days.
This is a large 750ml bottle of peppermint oil spray perfect for keeping mice and small rodents away.
We only found out earlier this year that mice really dont like peppermint oil when a set of mouse traps came with a large tea bag of something infused with peppermint which we put in our garage to good effect.
I wish I had known this years ago, we catch over 2 dozen mice in traps every winter in out garage and my partner is terrified of them, even when they are long dead, she cant bear seeing them!
On its own it doesn’t completely stop the problem, but it does make your home less appealing, and I can verify it does reduce the number of the little critters coming in for a free meal.
We spray this all round the entrance to our garage every few days and it smells a lot nicer than when the mice are ruling the roost!
750ml is a lot bigger than the smaller bottles we have previously had at around the same cost!
Happy to help
We have issues with mice and this peppermint spray seems to do the trick. When you pump it you can smell the peppermint, which I like but they evidently do not. It has scared off the latest group to camp in the loft and meant I did not need to use traps which I dislike doing anyway. So, this feels a more suitable solution and from my experience, it works.
We are having some building work done and as a result a couple of rats have sneaked in. I have heard of the peppermint theory but I was not to confident that it would work so….. over the week end when I could not get the pest control out I used this. Spraying it like mad into the air vents, around the windows and basically everywhere I could. It did stop them from scratching around in the loft even if I did have to repeat it for three nights until the rat man was able to call and put poison down.
Depending as to whether we have certain bird foods out (and whether the neighbours are raising chickens, we get sporadic incursions of rats or mice. We also have a Summerhouse which sadly has some access crevices which we need to deter any rats, mice, and squirrels from invading and taking up residence during the winter. It is also reported that this type of spray deters any invasions of insects like spiders. Previously I have used traps in the Summerhouse and the loft, hopefully this will provide a more humane method of control
The sprayer as received is well made and properly sealed against leaks. The sprayer is easy to assemble onto the bottle and has a good on / off twist sprayer which gives a sensible spray pattern. So far we have applied the material to the windowsills in the Conservatory and to the floor, around any access points and the ceiling of the Summerhouse.
For me ( but maybe not others) the Peppermint is a pleasant odour — my only concern is how long the deposited material lasts. Not easy to assess effectiveness other than a lack of rodents or flies. This is therefore a preliminary review. I note that cats also seem to be on the repelled list so that will be easier to monitor with the existing regular visits of cats / squirrels to the garden. Will report in due course
My mum lives next to a field and has been bothered by mice for years. We sprayed this where we usually find them coming in and touch wood, not seen any signs since. Much prefer the idea of deterring as opposed to traps killing them.
This peppermint pest spray arrived in a simple plastic bag.
We live next to a small wood and most nights we get wood mice finding their way into the kitchen. They are lovely little animals and we certainly don’t want to kill them so we use humane traps but it is a nuisance transporting them some distance and releasing the mice every day.
We have tried the plug in type of ultrasonic repellers before and they didn’t work but one of them came with a peppermint impregnated pad. The ultrasonics did nothing to stop the mice but when we put the pad down a couple of weeks later the visits suddenly stopped.
That was a few months ago and the pad must be losing its effectiveness because the nightly visits started again. We sprayed this spray along the skirting boards of the kitchen and behind the kitchen units where possible and the visits suddenly stopped again.
So far this spray seems to be very effective as we haven’t had any small, furry visitors since using it but I’ll update this review if there’s anything to report.
This has stopped our nightly visitors and as a bonus we also have a kitchen that smells pleasantly of mint! It has done what it says for us so I’m giving it 5 stars.
Apowerfully distinctive-smelling spray treatment to get rid of rodents in the living room and garden. It is effective at preventing vermin, particularly mice, from entering a particular area. It is also a very humane trap when compared to mouse traps. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a low-cost mouse or bug repellent.
Open this bottle and breathe it in – wow!
We have a tiny mouse in the house and it was seen last night escaping from the kitchen table.
I have heard that peppermint oil can deter mice because it makes it more difficult for them to follow the urine pheromone trails that they leave and use to find their way around.
So I have just cleaned the oilcloth table with this spray. Thumbs up from us on the smell – which is of the very natural peppermint oil which is the second ingredient after water. This is a large bottle and a little goes a long way – so worth a go even though it is quite expensive.
I’ve been using this peppermint oil Mouse repellent spray for approximately five days now, whether it’s coincidence or the mouse has decided to take up residence somewhere Else because of the spray I cannot honestly say. The mouse usually appeared from under the fridge or the cupboard under the stairs, so we have been spraying these two areas twice a day once in the morning after the floors have been cleaned and last thing at night just before going to bed as well as other areas i.e. edge of skirting board in the hallway etc. I have also placed several mousetraps out to capture it. I will continue with the spray until it runs out, Or hopefully before then it will be captured. if I see it again in its original place is then I will update my review.
We have a problem with living close to a railway track and a cat that likes to give us presents.. live ones as well as, well… less alive ones.
The live ones, he sometimes likes to drop as he enters the cat flap, or at your feet as if to say “I saw this and thought of you” – A lovely gesture, but one we could do without and catching live mice can take some time, once they’ve found a nook or cranny to get into.
problem then is they wee all over the place and it stinks. We had read beforehand to get hold of some peppermint essential oil, dilute it, spray liberally and that will help deter/flush out the mice. This does that job without the need to dilute. Also has the benefit of smelling fresh and clean, as opposed to smelling of mouse wee. I don’t think it completely neutralises, but trust me, it’s far better. like everything, the smell will fade so you need to reapply, and whilst we can’t prove its effectiveness ultimately without a mouse survey, we are comfortable that it is helping, whilst combating the mouse wee.
Some friends of ours have problems with rodents around their garden shed, so I got this for them to try. Apparently it’s helping quite a lot, so that’s definitely a success.
We have a canal at the bottom of the garden. And the canal bank has large trees.
In ‘Tales of the Riverbank’ they had Hammy the Hamster, Roderick the Rat and GP the Guinea Pig. In my real life ‘Tales of the Canal bank’ we have squirrel, mouse and rat, and the squirrels especially are a real pest.
Living near water you will almost certainly see the odd rat, so we don’t encourage them – we don’t put food out for the birds and we keep everything tidy, but it’s inevitable, same with the odd mouse, but squirrels are an absolute pest – they destroy my figs, strawberries and blueberries, dig holes in the garden and eat hosta roots. But they don’t like peppermint. I read this a while ago and made my own peppermint spray which was pretty effective, but this will be so much better.
Even though the bottle arrived bagged I could smell the peppermint through the plastic. The 750ml bottle comes with a spray gun, attach it then you’re away!
The liquid itself is very silky and glides between the fingers which is probably down to the glycerine content that will make it adhere to wood and the like. After rubbing it between my fingers I washed my hands with soap and water, a lot, and three hours later I can still detect the smell of peppermint so I think it will last well even after rain.
I’ll be using this a lot in Spring to protect by strawberry plants in particular – if I spray the protective net bags I use it should deter the squirrels. Any additional discouragement of rats or mice is a bonus.
This is a very generous sized bottle of peppermint scented pest spray, easy to hold, stiff but accurate on/off twist at the front, accurate pump action for the spray (give it a number of pumps when you first have it so that the liquid can rise up the tube).
The spray is quite fine but note that it spreads quite wide, over 30cm, and so ensure you are only spraying the floor/corner/door whatever and not your furniture or clothes. The scent is noticeably peppermint, obviously, but I did not find it overpowering, pretty similar to the (tiny) bottle of peppermint spray I have been using for a year or so. Also, it doesn’t seem to linger so either the nostrils quickly get used to the scent or else it just dissipates.
In use – I am so thankful I don’t have the mouse problem that this spray seems to be intended for. However, in the past I have been plagued with spiders and that is often enough to make me want to pack a bag and run to a hotel! A phobia since I was a child, and one that had been “passed on” to me by a mother who also detested the creatures. It was only a few years ago I read that peppermint can deter spiders and so I bought a bottle to test. Sprayed across the door, in corners, into cupboards, around the bathroom, and did that regularly (meaning, when I remembered). Results? Pleasing, and I am doing a touch wood as I say that.
Obviously, then, I wanted to review this product for its impact on horrendous spiders and, since it has the same smell and properties as the little bottle I have been using, I am sure it will act in the same way.
I do like this very large bottle. It holds around 750 ml of liquid and looks exactly like bottles of other kitchen and bathroom cleaners I have. With the spray being fine and directed, there will be little, if any, waste, and the trigger action pump worked perfectly.
Priced at 12.99 at the time of this review I am going to recommend it wholeheartedly. No more highly expensive small bottles of peppermint spray for me, I will be using this bottle and will be buying more when it is empty. This might seem expensive for some but it is definitely worth the money and should last a considerable time. And, for my part, if peppermint sprays deter spiders and send them scuttling back outside unharmed and knowing they are not welcome, I am happy.
My daughter has been trying to get rid of mice in her kitchen for a few years, as Autumn arrives in they pop no matter what holes they seal up and humane traps they set. The mice are crafty and find another route in and avoid the traps carefully.
So we hope that regular use of this peppermint spray in suspect areas will help and that her mice are the type that dislike this smell! You get a big bottle full so there is plenty to spray liberally and often. We humans like the fresh mint smell and it safe to use around pets and children.
This spray bottle is intuitive and really self-explanatory when going to use it. The actual function of this though, the rodent repellent, is something that I actually do think is working. I have sometimes had mice issues within my mouse and I am not seeing them around as much once I started spraying this around. The aroma is pretty nice too, and something that I think won’t get annoying even if you’re spraying this everywhere.
This smells lovely. Really strongly of peppermint, but not it a bad way. It’s mix is essentially just citric acid and peppermint oil, in an easy to spray bottle. Peppermint is a known repellent of mice and ever since spraying it in our garage, our human container traps haven’t seen any.
I was pleased to try this ‘EFA International Peppermint Mouse Pest Spray, Peppermint Oil Spray, Mouse Repellent, 750ml Spray Bottle, Suitable Indoor & Outdoor Use, Natural Mouse Repellent Spray’. We are troubled by fieldmice in our garage over winter. It is a shame to kill them because they are cute looking, however, it is a bind using humane traps and having to let them go in a field, every time. I had heard about their dislike of peppermint, and this product was definitely worth a try.
The large plastic container contains 750mls of strong peppermint smelling cruelty free repellent solution, made of natural ingredients by the look of it. It comes with a twist off lid and a separate trigger pump, both sealed in a plastic pouch to prevent leaking. You can use it indoors or outside and re-spray each week where because it is such a nice smell, will be no hardship. I sprayed all around the perimeter, inside the garage and we will have to see if it keeps them away. I have high hopes. I have also sprayed behind my little cars wing mirrors, because I had heard spiders really do not like peppermint either. I have a couple that love to make webs all around my mirrors and it is very unsightly. I hope they have packed their bags and moved house already!
The current price of 12.99 for this large amount, is good value for money, in my opinion. I will definitely buy again if it does keep the mice away all winter.
A year ago we got a kitten called Clementine. She’s a little ginger menace and kept dive-bombing the Christmas tree and climbing curtains. Given that she’s still climbing curtains, I suspect next month when the tree goes up she’ll dive bomb it again!
Clem tries to ride our older cat like a horse. Fat Ziggs (a 9 year old Tortoiseshell) ended up with a urine infection that the vet reckons was brought on due to stress. She ended up having an “accident” near the front door and every-so-often she revisits the spot. We’ve been using peppermint oil to deter her from the area and it’s worked well. This spray makes things much easier, it’s quite strongly scented but not overpowering.
It’s a natural smelling spray and is very refreshing. I’ve found myself spraying it in other areas just because I like the smell!
Only used it a short while but the cat stays away from the areas sprayed, if that changes I’ll update the review.
In a nutshell: a nice smelling spray, if you need a peppermint oil scented spray then this is superb. It smells natural and not artificial in any way. It doesn’t last for too long but a quick spray refreshes the area nicely.
A 750ml spray bottle of peppermint oil mouse spray, an effective mouse repellent.
We have had a mouse problem in our shed for a while, and although traps catch them, we have found that peppermint oil deters them coming under the door panel.
Liberally sprayed along the edges of the walls and around gaps they might squeeze through, we have found peppermint oil keeps them out, and we haven’t had one in the traps for a while now. I respray once a week, and find that’s enough.
The spray is the normal trigger action pump, with an on/off nozzle.
I’m happy to recommend.
Sprays that contain a strong dose of peppermint can be very effective against certain household pests. We live below a large open field that has both rats and mice living in it. Over the years, we have had our car wiring chewed up and our back garden used as a shortcut by these pests for as long as I can remember all the way back to childhood, and it’s only in the last ten years or so we learned about the benefits of using peppermint sprays to drive rats and mice away.
It doesn’t work all the time – some of the tougher pests seem unfazed by the smell, but generally speaking, it tends to do the job so long as it is applied regularly and in strong doses. We don’t like to harm or kill anything we can instead drive away without harm, so we always try to opt for preventative measures. These kinds of sprays are also great at keeping certain kinds of insects away.
Besides field mice and rats, our biggest concern as a house full of arachnophobics is spiders, so I regularly spray any regularly open window frames and door frames with peppermint to keep those creepy crawlies at bay too. Obviously, in spider breeding seasons (through August/September) we do see an increase in the amount of those huge black and brown ones around the house as they come out searching for mates, but nothing can be done about that (except a long hoover pipe if push comes to shove lol).
The liquid comes out in wide bursts that cover a large area, so you don’t need a huge amount to thoroughly coat areas unless they’re very large spaces. This particular spray is quite strong – not overwhelming, but I wouldn’t advise using it unless your house is well ventilated first. Open windows and doors is always a must when spraying this kind of thing around as it can get on the chest and make you cough. Also be sure not to use it around pets or to spray it anywhere you know your pets like to sniff/lick/lie etc – toxic or not, minty smells can make dogs and cats VERY poorly.
Overall, a pretty strong peppermint based deterrent spray in a large, easy to use spray bottle. 5 stars.
