TLDR; Superb wireless, no subscription, motion activated only (no 24/7 function) hassle free security cameras.
Installation – Really easy. Literally the hardest thing was opening the box! Handy mounting advice in the app, primarily about what height/ angle to fit etc.
Picture quality – Superb. In truth, I don’t notice a huge difference between 2k or 4k, however, 4k will allow you to zoom in 8 x rather than “just” x 4. Both day time & night time footage cannot be faulted. Some may quibble at the relatively low 15 frames per second limitation in order to not take up so much recording space, but the quality is still exceptional. Night time you have the choice of infrared/ black & white or colour by using the spotlight. Obviously the colour will use up more battery, personal preference, but I default to black & white & manually turn on the spotlight from the app if I want colour. As for the spotlight, you can set low, medium or high, at high I find it lights up a decent area to a decent degree. Obviously it is “just” a spotlight, not a floodlight (Aootek 2,500 lumens hard to fault if you need a floodlight).
Motion Detection – Excellent. We have 3 cameras, front, back & driveway. The back & driveway are optimally positioned & flawless. It will pick up motion a good 25 foot away. We are still at the experimental stage with our front camera due entirely to our sub-optimal positioning of the camera, but even then it very seldom misses anything. There are various settings that you can adjust for each camera & while of course you can plug & play for those not inclined to faff about, for nerds like me 😉 you will want & dare I say enjoy optimising your settings.
Battery – As others have commented, 6 month battery is at best a push for I would assume most people, though of course it depends on your settings, surroundings etc. We live on a non-working farm, but have a rural road that is effectively a main road in focus to the front camera. Our Driveway cam has a Diyarts 6W solar panel (brilliant by the way) which keeps it topped up at 100% anyway & this one gets the most usage from us. Even in cloudy weather & a shaded area with relatively heavy use, recording, logging in frequently to have a nose ;-), it’s still at 100%. My back camera I often turn off as its just us & the dogs, but that loses roughly only 1% a day if that, but again when it’s on I frequently check in. My front however has lost 35% in 3 days. I think this is due to having what is effectively a main road in frame & although I have set activity zones to account for this, I assume it must be on an almost permanent state of alert as it has detected (not recorded) over 5k events in around a week compared to under 200 on my other 2. Frankly I would rather this than missing things. It has taken a while to keep tweaking the activity zone to not get false alerts from passing traffic, but all part of the fun for me! Besides, if charging is an issue, there are options. A solar panel (Diyarts is magnificent), hanging an external battery charger as I do to save brining it in & having to reposition or a long lead from your mains. Our front is north facing so hardly any sun, but given how good our panel is in not dissimilar conditions on the driveway, I will almost certainly put up a solar panel for this one too. Currently hanging an external battery for an hour or 2 every week is not exactly a hardship. Our back camera would get pretty close to the advertised 6 month’s battery.
24/7 – Not an option so if you need that, this isn’t for you. I do think it would be a handy feature for Eufy to allow this as attaching solar panels (or getting the next model up that come with built in solar) negates the need for the cameras to be low energy use. But the most minor of quibbles.
Storage – It comes with 16Gb of data which assuming for most people it’s simply homeowners, friends, families, pets, delivery drivers etc being picked up, we probably don’t want to keep those. So regular maintenance to delete will ensure this is enough for most people. However, for the sake of around 35, you can get the excellent Crucial 1TB Solid State Drive – the quick one for techphobes 😉 which future proofs you.
Summary – I agonised over what system to get & did more research than is probably healthy 😉 before settling on this. Really happy I did. If you can afford the Eufy 3, then the built in solar, IP67 v IP 65 rating & ant-theft is compelling. We intend to add further cameras to our system & will purchase these when they aren’t over double the price. The Homebase will take up to 16 cameras, however Eufy recommend no more than 10 otherwise it may affect performance. But 10 will be more than enough for most people, certainly us! But this system is brilliant, comes highly recommended.
Good cctv system but the ai face recognition needs work as mistakes me and the wife for each other.
The onboard storage being only 16Gb in this day and age is pitiful for the price, you can add a 2.5″ ssd at any point to increase the storage.
Picture quality is pretty good day or night.
Doorbell cam can be linked to it.
However the app is pretty slow to connect to the doorbell.
Great product. Well made. Crystal clear images and video. Easy to set up and install. Many useful features within the App to allow tailoring of the camera functions.
Not a single negative issue whatsoever.
Easy to add a hardrive storage to the Homebase unit. Expensive but definitely get what you pay for. Quality products. Thoroughly recommended.
Really easy to set up, and works well from the app. However a couple of things bug me. First, it takes about 5 seconds to start recording, and therefore a person that walks from pavement to my front door is only picked up when they are at the door, so if they are quick they can be missed completely. The same if they are walking away from my door. I hope to get the dual cam doorbell to sort this problem. The second thing is, unless you set the recording length to a longer time (which uses more battery) it cuts off motion too early.
Having said that the battery life definitely does not last 6 months unless you set all the settings at low battery mode, in which case it doesn’t work at its best to pick up intruders. The picture quality is great and night time recording is very clear as well as recording in rain and snow. Face recognition is not great as it has recognised a bearded man as my daughter and a long haired woman as my bearded son. It has taken me quite a while to get used to all its functions, but I still think it’s a great product.
Kinderleichte Montage, dank Bohrschablonen.
Wirklich zu empfehlen.
Upgrade package to get the new console. Old cameras and sensors neatly and quickly added to it.
These cameras produce a good quality picture in daylight, and the low light performance is quite good too. It’s a well thought out system, and very easy to set up. The support for local storage is a definite advantage, as many such systems only work well if you purchase additional cloud storage, so a big thumbs up there. The amount of included storage is quite small, but can be expanded.
Unfortunately, the battery life on the cameras is not anything like the claimed 180 days, and, in fact, the necessity for constant recharging was so inconvenient that I’ve stopped using them. The ability to connect to solar panels would be an advantage, and the manufacturers say that this will be an option by the end of 2022, but, for now, the battery life is the one issue that mars an otherwise very capable product.
Brilliant upgrade over the C2 cams , just be aware as 4K streaming uses lots of bandwidth the Homebase needs to be connected via Ethernet.
Quality is very good , picture is very good and setup is a doddle.
Worth the money !
I previously purchased an Arlo camera system which was impossible to set up and the online help was no help – it was also a lot more expensive than the Eufy system. The Eufy system worked straight out of the box and has excellent picture quality. Not sure about the face recognition yet – it may take some time to ‘learn’ the faces we’ve loaded.
Excellent camera set ,easy to setup and to use ,the best thing is no additional cos
Works great, records well. Alerts come through fast. But would be best paired with a motion activated flood lights. Paired with solar panels these are wonderful 24/7 setup
A good upgrade from the 2c cameras, only had a couple of days, picture noticeably better extra features with the new homebase are good, motion zones is much better on these cams than with previous as you can now stretch to fit in all directions, just a shame they don’t come with adapters to fit the solar panels and neither do the solar panels themselves which is funny considering they were giving a panel away for free with these cameras a couple of weeks ago, hopefully they will release the adapter cable very soon, overall a good experience, eufy makes some good stuff and would recommend.
Very clear picture, good night vision I use it with IR rather than spotlight so less likely to alert intruders to the camera. Easy to set up, it took less than 15mins to set up 2 cameras
These work for my family because there is no wiring I found them easy to set up you connect to the hub that comes with them it also stores all the video / images
So far battery life has not been a problem for us
The picture quality is top notch very clear and it has started to recognise familiar faces amazing technology
I feel this set up is a bit expensive but you pay no subscription so really it’s worth the money
Usb c chargeable set up overall I think it’s a great bit of ki
This eufy security camera comes boxed with instructions and accessories (cables, hub, mounting equipment etc). Build quality appears to be very good and the cameras have a reasonable level of waterproofing.
Two cameras are included and these are truly wireless in that they are rechargeable. The hub has to be connected to a router but I had no trouble doing this. The advantage of the hub is that if someone was to steal the camera you don’t lose your recording. Storage can be upgraded if need be, which is good if you are going to be recording a lot of footage.
As with all home security systems these days, all the action happens in the app, which I installed and connected to the cameras with no issues. The app is easy to navigate and allows access to all the settings I’d expect (night vision, two way audio, spotlight, alarm) as well as high-end features like facial recognition. That feature works better than I expected and helps keep notifications down.
Performance overall is very good. Picture quality is excellent (both day and night vision) and though I’m continuing to adjust the settings I’m not getting too many false notifications. The downside of the cameras being rechargeable is that the battery life does vary according to use so they do need to be installed somewhere where they can be relatively easily reached. The one I have at the front of my house gets a lot more use than the one at the back.
Overall I’m very happy with these cameras. They work well and have excellent functionality without the need for a subscription.
This largely lives up to the claims. It is well reviewed and eufy systems are generally well respected. Possibly the only real drawback is the cost but it is significantly better than some of the other cheaper security systems that I have used.
This isn’t that difficult to setup and use. It has been reliable and it hasn’t failed yet.
eufy Security eufyCam 3C 2-Cam Kit Security Camera Outdoor Wireless, 4K Camera, Expandable Local Storage Up To 16TB, Face Recognition AI, Spotlight, Color Night Vision, No Monthly Fee
Excellent quality home security camera. Very quick and easy to set up. No subscription fees. Easy to use app and high spec.
Face detection works really well and is an excellent feature, can differentiate between familiar faces or strangers.
Rechargeable batteries and option to add hard drive/more storage.
Excellent Camera system. Would highly recommend.
Unlike similar battery CCTV cameras this one uses a hub to store the recordings meaning no need to put mico SD cards in the camera and the ability to link multiple cameras to the same hub. The hub is more compact than I expected but you will still need a location near your router to place it. It has no wi-fi connection which limits the flexibility of placement. It comes with a 1.75m power cable and a 1.15m flat ethernet cable, but you could always buy and use a longer ethernet cable.
Having a hub means if someone steals the camera, they don’t get the recordings as well, obviously they could steal the hub and while the encryption prevents them accessing it they remove the ability to get the evidence, something cloud storage has the advantage over. I would have thought you could backup the drive to your own cloud storage as its connected to the router but I’m not yet aware how or if this is possible.
Set up was simple and easy, using the app and following the instructions. The instructions that come with it are just on setting up. Picture quality is very clear, its digital zoon only and you do get some artifacts and not 4k clarity zoomed in possibly due to compression – but in part could be down to the wi-fi connection strength. It runs on 2.4ghz and the cameras have a single port on the base USB C so if looking to attach a solar panel this needs to be USB C.
The camera has all the usual features, two-way talk, activity zones, motion sensing adjustment, light and siren, but also facial recognition. This is very handy if you want to reduce notifications from family members passing in and out of the house as you can ignore family members. No anti-theft alarm on this version but you would no doubt get footage of the culprit approaching the camera.
Battery life is the one questionable area, I can’t give an accurate assessment at the moment as I’ve been playing around with the settings and accessing live viewing more often than I usually would. I believe the 180 days is based on 5 minutes of recordings a day and at 20 degrees c. Cold weather reduces battery life but also if you have all the settings on, so the light, 4k recording, recording longer times. You can charge the cameras from the hub or a USB charge point/plug. And would estimate around 4-5hrs to charge based on the capacity. It’s easy enough to unscrew them from the wall mount for charging.
These are not cheap cameras; you do get a saving from not having any subscription costs and the convenience of wireless system. If you have cameras out in the open, then Eufy do have a similar camera with solar panels built in the top for all year use. The cameras so far have been performing well, I do get a fairly good fibre connection through the house which helps a lot. Im still narrowing down the settings I prefer and would like to hook up to the TV and google. I will look to update the review after a few months on performance, and if any issues etc
We have a Eufy doorbell and Eufy bathroom scales so we know that Eufy is a brilliant brand. The Cameras have not disappointed.
The quality is fantastic. Fairly easy to set it all up. Look good. Can’t complain about anything at all.
We definitely need more than 2 cameras but we will get some more at some point.
Honestly is a fantastic bit of kit. You won’t be disappointed.
Highly worth it for peace of mind!
This is great for home security. I got it for my mate who has been having a lot of trouble with the locals. With the face tracking, high video quality and home recording hub he can keep a close eye on the culprits. It does come with decent storage that is expandable.
The batteries in the cameras makes for easy installation however it does mean that you cannot have 24/7 recording which is a shame. Easy installation was more important to my friend though
Definitely worth the money for the piece of mind though and so far it has bee
This camera kit comes with everything to setup and install a 2 camera system in your home.
Setup is very simple, just plug in the base station to power and your router (base station cannot be connected
to Wi-Fi) and follow the easy instructions in the app to sync the cameras, total setup time was about 20 mins with firmware updates included.
Cameras are mounted with just 2 screws, very easy to install by anyone with simple DIY tools and knowledge.
Camera quality is amazing, compared to my old Blink outdoor camera the picture is much clearer when zooming in on details.
The cameras having rechargeable built in battery’s is a great plus, and having the cameras up for only a couple of days their charge has dropped about 2%.
The alerts and notifications come through quickly every time.
Great features with lots of customisation through alarms/lights/motion areas means you can set them up to deter intruders as well as ignore motion from a main road or nearby path.
I would highly recommend this cameras, best I have used!
We recently upgraded from the Eufy cam 2c. This setup is superb.
It has face detection so you can tell if a familiar face is spotted or if it’s a stranger. It detects pets and also if cars move.
The battery life is excellent, I’m getting around five months on our drive as our family are always coming and going.
There’s no subscription charges which is one of the main things I was looking for.
For me the homebase has enough storage but you can add a harddrive if you wish.
The app is really easy to use too.
Well worth the money for the peace of mind of a secure house.
The night vision is really good but when you turn the lights on in the app, it really looks like daylight.
You can also set activation zones so you don’t get false alerts.
I’m so glad I upgraded, money well spent.
