Other than being pretty loud and noisy (most SUP pumps are) this is an excellent product. It inflates quickly and efficiently with very little fuss and gets to a decent PSI which some other pumps can struggle with. Overall it’s a good balance of expense (pricey but not ridiculous) and effectiveness (very). Overall all good.
This pump has come in handy a couple of times for me so far, it’s a bit hard for me to get the paddleboard out but when I do manage to I remember to bring along the FLEXTAILGEAR pump. It makes quick work of my SUP, inflating it in an average of 8 minutes when connected to my cars 12v socket. It’s got a robust and ergonomic design and can be used in a range of applications, such as blowing up an inflatable mattress – or for its intended purpose of SUP inflation. A great pump to have around
A decent quality sup pump that pumps up reasonabley fast and can also be used to deflect items. Comes in a retail box in there is the pump, one metre flexible hose, six different types of nozzles, a two meter cigarette lighter power cord and the user manual.
Simple to operate, Just plug the power cord in to your cigarette lighter in the car, turn off the safety switch on the bottom then press the power button. Has three present pressure modes ranging from 6psi to 15psi but can be manually set from 1psi up to 20psi with auto shut off.
The item listing is a little miss leading as is state’s with out battery but also says with 9600mAh built in battery but I can tell you there is no inbuilt battery the pump is totally operated by your 12v cigarette lighter in your car.
Fast pump up well made but a little expensive.
Bought this pump for my Berghaus Air tent & shelter. Used it a few times now and I’m so pleased with it. Using the manual pump is fine but this electric pump takes care of all the hard effort.
Used to pump up a double air bed. Did it very quickly, a little noisy, but that’s the only negative. Also used to deflate the airbed once the majority of air was out. Very impressed and would recommend
I agree with the review by C on August 28, 2022 regarding weight for backpacking. The weight listed here is without the batteries. When you add batteries, ~237 grams. The cube shape is also a little bulky if you’re trying to be as light and compact as possible.
I plan to upgrade to Flextail’s tiny version that has the built in battery. The weight on that one includes the battery.
Flextail should make these weight differences more clear by including the weight of batteries on this model. I originally went with this one because it appeared to only be a little heavier but $20 cheaper than their lighter version. They are not doing their lighter version justice.
I also did originally like the idea of AA batteries here so I could swap if I ran out. But I’ve never needed to on a typical camping trip. And even if I did, I use a battery bank for my phone, and their upgraded version has USB-C plug to recharge that I could use.
If backpacking, skip this one and get their smallest lightest version to spare yourself a future upgrade.
The video goes into much more detail, including a pumping demo, an overview of the included accessories and finally my thoughts on performance.
However, in a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ Reall compact – surprising to get as much performance as I did out of such a tiny pump.
+ Good range of accessories etc.
Things I didn’t like:
– Not quite powerful enough to fully inflate the air-bed I was testing on – enough to get 95% of the way there, but not all the way.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, for people who want a compact pump to do most of the hard work when it comes to inflating. This will get you at least 95% of the way there, but it didn’t completely inflate my airbed and I had to finish off with a foot pump to get it fully inflated. However, it did very well for something so small and compact. That’s your use case right there – a compact, easily transportable pump that will do 95% of the pumping for you.
Ok so I know there is a version of this which is more expensive and has a rechargeable battery, I guess my suggestion here was that this takes AA batteries or something to make it more ‘portable’ without adding costs of charging and battery within the unit.
On the whole, so long as you have a power source nearby this does a decent job at inflating/deflating items, I have a larger pump at home so use that on bigger pieces however this can be good for travel as the included car adapter means even at the beach or lake so long as you drove you can plug in power.
A number of nozzles for different sized things, there will always be something that doesn’t quite fit but you make it work.
For pretty much the same price I’d recommend the battery powered version for better ‘portability’ though.
Small and reliable portable air pump for swimming pools, camp beds, etc. I bought it for camp beds, which not only need to be pumped up but often go down and need refilling, and it works really well. Choice of car and normal AC power supply, which is a real selling point and plus point for me. It comes with both adaptors, which is really good value.
Pumps up easily and works well, without too much noise, and also has a deflate option.
Really small size, a bit bigger than a human hand, and packaged really tightly so great for camping trips when every last inch of your car will be used, super lightweight but also powerful enough for camping mattresses.
Really great item.
This lightweight vacuum pump is a really good gadget and ideal for anyone wanting to inflate mattresses. Easy to use and carry around and does not need to connect additional air nozzles when using it. There is an adapter that connects to the vacuum bag valve to compress clothes, quilts etc which is ideal when trying to make space. We use it when storing away winter / summer clothes making more space to hang in the wardrobe.
This is a really useful piece of kit that is small, lightweight and powerful and so easy to use.
Took on holiday to blow up our inflatables we took with us and worked really well. Was able to top them up if they went down a bit and helped with deflating them too. Would definitely recommend
I like how versatile this device is. A total of seven adapters are supplied. One interesting detail is that the adapters are all mounted on a single plastic rod or for want of a better word ‘wire’. I’ve found that cutting the wire, which is connected to the end of the hose, is unnecessary, as it is not a problem to fit any attachment as it is. So the adapters are not lost or kicking about the place but instead, most of the hose components are kept together. Very nice.
The build quality is very good and I like this device a lot. The only thing about it that I did raise an eyebrow at, was the moulding of the threads of some of the adapter (see pics). The threads of some have decidedly more ‘beef’ than others! All the attachments fit and do so securely. I did, nevertheless, tighten some a little more cautiously having noticed how thin the thread was. Perhaps I’m simply over cautious.
On a more positive note I’m impressed by the power lead. Feeling the resistance to bending of the lead and handling it generally, I’d say that there’s a good cross section of copper in there. If the intention had been to cut corners or par things to the bone then that’s where I might have expected to see it.
Overall I think this bit of kit gives a good impression of quality and I expect it to last. Well designed.
I hope these opinions and observations are helpful.
This is a good pump, it is not too noisy and it gets the job done in a decent amount of time. I used it to blow up a two man kayak and it did the whole thing in about 6-7 mins.
The design is a bit bulky but it is a decent and sturdy bit of kit that will last a good while! Do not forget it is corded. Good stuff.
This is a versatile sup pump , also useful for a lot of other inflatables as it comes with 7 different sized and shaped nozzles for inflating large and smaller inflatables, it is 20psi , the controls are very easy and simple to use and there are buttons at the top of the unit with a small but clear digital display.
The pump is sleek and curved in design , it’s portable and lightweight, it can be plugged into your cars 12v power supply so you can pump your sup board up on location easier.
It can also be used for blow up paddling pools, tents and other large inflatables saving time with hand held pumps and foot pumps.
It’s not cheap but i think it’s priced reasonably as I’ve tested a lot of similar pumps this seems pretty good value.
It’s noisy when in use like most pumps so bare that in mind but it can’t be helped and it doesn’t take long to inflate a paddle board or inflatable boat with this so it’s a good pump to share with groups or friends.
It’s very easy and straightforward to use with simple layout and design , the extra nozzles make it extremely versatile.
I think the design of this product is rather sleek. The carry handle built into the outer shell of the device is comfortable to hold and carry the device around. The outer shell is mostly made from a strong plastic and seems rather sturdy. There are rubber feet on the base too.
The product comes with 7 adapters which come attached to the hose. They could be kept there or cut free. Keeping them there will make attaching and removing one a little more cumbersome because the others will get a bit in the way. Especially as they screw on to the hose. These seem to be well produced and do not seem flimsy but seem rather tough. Maybe it would have been better if each adapter fitted into storage wells in the actual pump.
A bag contains two sparesilicone washers for two of the attachments. One is thicker than the other.
The instructions manual is easy to understand and the information is clear.
When operating the pump in the lower pressure mode, it makes more of a higher pitchednoise. I would not say it is overly noisy. Toggling to the high powered mode makes more of a lower sounding grunt noise. This is louder but using it in an open space should not be too noisy. With the presetting function, it is possible to set and back away from the pump while it is running.
The display is clear to read. Although I have not used it in direct sunlight.
Both the hose length and the car plug power cable have good lengths.
It would have been useful if the pump had other power options. Such as via a USB C connection, where it could be used with a suitable PD charger.
FLEXTAILGEAR Electric Sup Pump with 7 Nozzles
It is made of mostly plastic but is decently made
Easy to use. It comes with an easy-to-understand user manual, which is unnecessary as there are just four buttons to use on the LED screen, indicating power up or down and PSI selection.
Powerful as it can inflate our king-size air mattress in just a few minutes.
It is quite noisy as most electric pumps and bulky, but it has a sleek design that includes a stretchy band to hold the hose. However, I can’t say this is more portable than the one I am using. The only socket is suitable for a vehicle. No USB port or mains plug. You’ll need a bag to store the accessories, which, again, unlike the one, I’m using that there is a compartment in the unit itself to store the accessories. It is too early to say if it is durable.
I bought this with trepidation as it seemed to small to be powerful enough to blow up my bed. I needn’t have worried. I have a large double Intex air bed and it blew it up fine. I had to hold it as the rubber seal popped off as the pressure increased (hence 4 stars) but otherwise I think it was just a powerful as my huge thing that took 4 huge expensive batteries. It also deflated it just as well.
I love this product best purchase I have made of Amazon so far it has a decent pump power considering the price very easy to use and has a wide range of adapters included. The bag makes it very portable and alongside its size great . Very recommended
